Lovely local cafe. Tried it first time with friends and has a lovely lunch. I had the tonkatsu plate which was really filling and delicious. The staff are really friendly and ensure everyone is well looked after. Highly recommend for a nice meal.

A nice, busy Sunday morning where it was nice to sit outside. Staff were lovely and friendly even though they were busy. My coffee looked almost too good to drink and my Chilli scrambled eggs was way bigger than I was expecting- but only one slice of toast, which I was not expecting either. Really nice day to just read a book and enjoy coffee and break. Thank you team!

Wow wow wow!! We had the "nest" and the big breakfast and were blown away. Gorgeous presentation and unexpected, delightful flavors. An interesting menu with classics like eggs benedict, as well as some more unusual brunch options. Coffee was fantastic and staff were very sweet. We were served quickly despite it being busy. 5 stars guys! Can't wait to come again!

Sat outside and the staff wound down the wind shades to make us warm. Swift service and great food. A relaxed place to have Coffees and Teas with good pretty portions while watching life go past. Value for money and busy, we booked which was wise. Will go back in our group of 4 friends

A special Cafe that we dated for the first time six months ago, and yesterday we went there again😘 The food is delicious and beautifully presented as always. The Hot Benny with crispy bacon is amazing, and we both like it. Also, the almond croissant is so yum with cinnamon paste inside😋 The customer service is goodđŸ‘đŸ»

A nice cafe in Owairaka area. Coffees are nice. Tried a salmon Geisha which is a salad bowl. The dressing was very tasty like Japanese soy sesame one. Worth trying there. Family friendly place.

19/02/2022 As usual, a 5 star lunch, was fortunate to be able to make a booking since I was taking my parents with me. Pho, chicken waffles, chicken burger, and all day breakfast. --- Old review: Great tasting and fresh food. Quality coffee. Recommend the Ramen, nice texture to the noodles and the chashu was so tasty. The service was as good as the food, which makes it a place worth visiting again.

This place is a classic. Glad to see it’s improved a lot in the last year. I ordered two coffees because the first one was so good. The chicken burgers were tasty, which my teens devoured. I enjoyed the eggs bene. My friend had the chilli scramble which she said was nice but not amazing. I tried some and it was fine but not that great. The service was lovely and the place had a warm atmosphere and clean tables! We will be back.

The dishes are visually stunning but a bit impractical to eat. The novel aspect makes up for some of the Nest’s taste boredom. Did enjoy the sesame in the Geisha dish. Really wild that the menu hasn’t changed in what feels like almost a decade. I wish they’d bring the same innovation to newer dishes.

Had breakfast here with my husband.<br/>Nice spot busy But we were early enough to easily sit in. Had nice friendly staff,really attentive and friendly. I was glad to see a real good mix of dietry options for the items and staff could help too.<br/>I had the special bbq pork on toast with an egg, nice flavour and nice sized for breakfast and the kimchi wouldnt be too strong for most people . It was a little oily and I would have like more veg as a preference. <br/>Himself had the breakfast ramen which was a nice twist option which there is alot of and the ramen was a good portion <br/>Definitely would go back

One of my favourite locals for brunch! Atmosphere is wonderful and the space is really enjoyable to be in, even if you are outside. Plenty of seating but busy in the weekends so be aware of maybe having to wait a bit. The famous Nest does not disappoint and neither does the coffee. Staff are always friendly and onto it. Highly recommend!

Came here for brunch and we shared the Hunter which is creamy mushrooms with Parmesan, chorizo and we added eggs too. This was delicious and the flavours went so well together. We also shared a bronut which they’re known for and it did not disappoint.

Yummy little cafĂ©. You’ve of course got to try their signature dish! I came here with my mum for brunch and it was super packed. Thankfully a nice day and we shared a table outside with another party. Good coffee too. The outlook isn’t so fab... so preference would be inside to seat.

Went for lunch around 12.30-1pm and it was busy but there were still a few seats at the cafe. Service was polite and the food was served quickly. <br/><br/>My banh mi with chicken was really filling and super generous in the portion size. It tastes really good, but not sure if it’s an authentic version or not. My friend ordered the balsamic mushrooms which was also a good portion size and tasty. <br/><br/>The only issue we had was my friend wanted to swap the chorizo out for bacon in her mushroom dish and she was told that it would still cost the side amount (rather than just substituting the meat). We found this a tad odd considering the price was exactly the same.

There’s nothing i can criticise about this place. 5 stars straight up. <br/>Great coffee, friendly team and cozy environment. <br/>The Nest is a must must try. The eggs were crispy on the outside but still runny in the centre. Along with the special dressing, just divine.

I loved this place. Really surprised at how amazing everything was in this unpretentious local cafe. Food was tum. Best mushrooms I've had in a really long time. Mango lassi was orange infused, so yum!! Donut was huge and reasonably priced, but not the beat I've had. Service and atmosphere also very good. highly recommended!

Glad we finally came. Every time we drove passed, this place was always packed. Surely it must be more than a cool name. Today the food did the talking and demystified. The Nest was as yummy as it looked. A must try dish. The eggs were prefect. The sauce was out of this world.

Ive always wondered why this restaurant’s always full for brunch.. and ive read reviews and all are good.. finally decided to have brunch at this place — knowing theyre zomato gold member.. but couple days before my brunch their membership got removed or revoked or whatever. <br/><br/>Anyway.. food presentation was 10/10<br/><br/>Bit pricey.. but it was a nice brunch with my gal pals and my partner. I came for brunch and the place was packed but service was friendly and on time. My friend ordered the Hunt while I had the Nest and let me tell you they are a full on meal. The eggs were beautifully made in the Nest with lots of luscious salad at the bottom. The beetroot sauce at the bottom added flavour and colour. Although the Hunter mainly had mushrooms as the focus it didn’t lose any appeal. A lovely sauce covering the sourdough bread made it all the more tasty. Both dishes presentation were wonderful, they definitely live up to its game. This is cafe is must try if you’re in the area.

Yummy Poke Bowl<br/><br/>This is a great cafe, I can’t believe I’ve never been here before. It was so hard to choose what to get and decided with the Poke Bowl. The sauce on the salmon was delightful and served with full of fresh veg. The brown rice was little different from usual but worked so well. I must go back here and try the Hunter or Buhn Mi.

This place is highly recommended for brunch. The food is beyond delicious. The food has got some tasty flavours that will last on your pallet for long. We ordered Nest, Banh Mi, Nest and Hunter and every plate of food was made with great care and ingredients. The staff was friendly and quite helpful. The place was so jammed pack that we had to wait for 5-10 min but it was worth waiting and of course it goes without saying that the coffee was amazing too!! <br/>They have decorated the cafe with some indoor plants which makes it alive !!

Visited for a Friday brunch with a friend. <br/>We got their two best-sellers; Nest and Hunter. <br/>I was quite skeptical about the salad at first, as they can easily be bland as if you’re chewing on grass. <br/>The dark purple pool of beetroot ketchup and feta was beautifully seasoned that gives the salad a kick. <br/>Perched on top of this is a filo pastry nest and two pumpkin crumbed eggs. The golden yolks oozes out at the slice of the knife. <br/>The Hunter is sophisticatedly smoky, bringing mushrooms to a whole new level and definitely satisfying for both the palate and the stomach. <br/><br/>If there’s one thing to improve, it could perhaps be service. I’m quite sensitive towards the tone, attitude and body language, so I can feel it when someone is genuine or not. I felt a little uncomfortable for some reason, perhaps feeling like we weren’t particularly welcomed or didn’t want to be served. Also, the cabinet goods could be expanded.<br/>Price-wise they are friendlier on the wallet compared to other cafes of similar quality. <br/><br/>Food: 9/10<br/>Price: 9/10<br/>Ambience: 8/10<br/>Service: 7/10

We went to L’Oeuf to celebrate Mother’s day on a nice and sunny weekend. We each ordered a main brunch dish as well as some cabinet sweets to share. We also ordered two flat whites because what’s a good brunch without coffee! 🙂 It was super busy on Mother’s Day but fortunately we didn’t have to wait for long before being offered a table outside which was even better.

I could write something, but just look at the photo of my food - where else can you find two actual eggs coated in flavor within an edible nest? Top marks to the chef. It was delicious too. Service was standard and on the better end. My only wish is the place be bigger. Pricing - this was $19 but they can take however much they want for the pleasure of delighting me.

Came here for Mother’s Day brunch around 9:30, was told we had to wait 30-40mins but it was only around 10mins! <br/>The presentation of their food was really nice, I really loved the Cambodian! The mixture of the black glutinous rice and the coconut milk with salty peanuts was the perfect combination of sweet and salty and I love it!! Plus the rice makes you full really fast aswell. <br/>I didn’t think sweetie came to my expectations since it was just like any other egg waffle you can get at an asian place. <br/>Nest was really beautiful, on the presentation side.l if things. Their beetroot sauce mixed really well with the salad. However i think it was a bit pricy start up price because it is vegetarian and for bacon or avocado there’s an extra cost. <br/>Overall a 4/5

The good:<br/>Great atmosphere and location in Mt Albert where there aren’t many cafes like theirs. <br/>The Good Waffle was super tasty and healthy! The combination of the flavours were so good. The waffle is savoury mixed with the yogurt, salad and eggs. We added a side of bacon which is a great addition. Very filling. <br/>The mango lassi though small looking is amazing. Super tasty. The flavour is rich and thick, exactly what I love in the mango lassi. <br/><br/>The average: <br/>The only poke I’ve had so far is Ha! Poke’s teriyaki bowl, so that is all I have to compare to. The poke here is tasty and fresh but just lacks dimension and flavour. I found the bowl quite bland tasting, with the only thing giving it dimension in flavour was the kimchi.

I love their creative designs for dishes,especially the initial Nest idea. I wonder how they could make a half raw egg with crispy outsider. Lovely flowers are used to dress the food and smoothie as well. I have been surprised by their chef who used to be my classmate at language school,but I have no idea these delicious food all served by him. I appreciate everything you did for me. Thanks, Chef Jay.

Stumbled across this place while in The area and saw the good reviews so decided to give it a go. It definitely deserves the good reviews!<br/>Was seated quickly after being greeted by friendly staff, food came out quick and was delicious on top of being really well presented. The quantity was just as good as the quality, was super filling and the flavours were really fresh and vibrant, perfect for a hot day.<br/>Pictured is the soba noodles and poke bowl. Really impressed!

Scrumptious and beautifully presented meals, unexpected from this simple looking cafe. The portion was bigger than many other brunch places in the city. The only minor negative point for me is the basic fit out and the passage in the back leading to the bathroom often seems a bit dirty. <br/>We had the signature dish the nest and spinach waffles which were delicious. I would happily go back to try other items on the menu.

y'alllll it's no lie that i've been champing at the bit for these biddy's to officially re-open.....and boiiii was it worth the wait!! this place has been decked out to the absolute DAYS with a brand spankin new look. despite being newly "so fresh and so clean clean" loeuf still maintains their humble n' cozy approach to the cafe scene...with food and service to match! it ain't news that this place truly goes above and beyond when it comes to both of these elements. the staff here are absolutely wicked and are always doing their best to ensure that everything is top notch. honestly one of my fave cafes to date...i hope 2018 brings them nothing but the best!

Came here for a Bronut a few years ago & enjoyed it. Stopped by for coffee again recently. Our 4 year old got a dead FLY in her hot chocolate! Luckily I passed it off as a “leaf” - but could’ve been a disaster. They replaced the hot choc but not much of a reaction, or apology. Grossed me out so much I can’t go back.

The coffee is great, the chai is even better and the coconut plum cake is rather delicious. I haven’t tried any of their art-on-a-plate signature dishes (e.g. The Nest) yet, but I’m sure those dishes would be detectable too.

Came here for lunch with a friend around 12pm. The place was already packed and thankfully there was 1 table left. <br/><br/>We got The Hunter and The Nest. The dish that surprised me was The Nest as it’s actually a bird’s nest with 2 large eggs inside sitting on a garden of salad. The salad dressing hit me with a strong sweet and sour taste mixed with the crunchy greens. The ‘nest’ was crunchy and sturdy and had a little bit of fresh corn chips taste. The eggs, coated with the pumpkin seeds and bread crumbs, were still very hot even though I left it til last as there was still steam coming out when cut in half. I like how each ingredient in this dish kept its original taste. <br/><br/>For the hunter, the tree was grated cheese on thyme stuck in the creamy mushrooms sat on two pieces of sourdough bread. The creamy mushrooms apparently was a bit too strong in terms of flavor as the cream was a bit overloaded and made it saltier than it is. <br/><br/>Overall it was a pretty good experience as these 2 dishes were the most popular it seems. They were very generous with the portion sizes as well. Presentation wise, it’s very creative.<br/><br/>Taste - 7.5/10<br/>Size - 8/10<br/>Price - 8/10<br/>Service - 8/10<br/>

Really good venue and good, easy to find parking around the area as well! The Banh Mi was absolutely beautiful and dairy free too. Soba noodles were nice but had a very salad like vibe. Staff were friendly, overall really nice place to go eat with the indoor and outdoor setting option.

Awesome food & great service in a casual neighbourhood atmosphere. The chef was willing to hard-boil the advertised soft-boiled eggs for this fussy person 🙃. Delicious mango lassi too. I will definitely head back to try some of their cabinet baked treats: the doughnuts looked amazing.

Came here for brunch expecting to have to wait for a table and for food but the service was outstandingly fast. Really efficient and friendly, we were seated with our drinks in front of us in minutes. Food also came out really quickly and tasted great, plus the servings were huge. Would definitely recommend and we’re already planning what we’ll have when we come back.

Just had a lunch here based on a recommendation and I can truthfully say that it was the best Cafe meal I have in NZ. At $18, 'The Hunter' Portobello mushrooms with Chorizo was exquisitely plated with each morsel planned and designed to bring out the best in the mushrooms, the meat and the artisan sourdough bread all cooked to the perfect texture and succulence. A must drop in place if you are ever near the area.

The staff were very efficient given there were quite a few guests and tables and only 2 front of house I think?<br/><br/>Flat white-<br/>Atomic's roast, and I don't remember being particularly impressed nor disappointed - it was decent.<br/><br/>Almond peach cake-<br/>Everything was blended together quite well so there weren't chunks of almond or peach, but the cake overall was nice, soft, and fluffy for a normal cake! The flavor was good too, in fact I quite enjoyed this one before our lunch was served<br/><br/>The hunter-<br/>Creamy balsamic portobello mushrooms with chorizo, parmesan, truffle oil, and balsamic reduction, on sourdough. Had to hunt around a bit for chorizo (is this why it's called the hunter?đŸ€”đŸ€”đŸ€”), but really enjoyed the generous serving on mushrooms! This vege-to-plate-size ratio is agreeable 👍 balsamic reduction & snowy flakes of parmesan was wonderful with the creamy mushrooms, and I always to love some sourdough, though the crust were a bit difficult (as they often are anyway)<br/><br/>The nest-<br/>Pumpkin seed crumbed soft-boiled eggs in filo pastry nest, beetroot ketchup and feta, with mesclun salad. I am so regretful that I missed taking a photo of when I opened up the egg IT WAS SO BEAUTIFULLY PERFECT. Actually so perfect. The pumkin seed crumb was still a little crunchy, but the egg white was perfectly soft boiled and the yolk was thick but still entirely runny. The nest was crispy and so light - a little difficult to eat neatly, but almost melts into crunchy goodness with each bite. Unfortunately I didn't get to try the beetroot ketchup with feta combo as it was my mom's dish and she had cleaned it up completely with much pleasure 😂 every bit as delicious as it looks! Definitely worth trying!

If you want fast service, yummy food and value for your money .. head on down to this cute cafe for brunch or afternoon tea....  My personal favourite is the fish dish closey followed by the mushroom. <br/>Their tea is also quite unquie (herbal) and different to most cafes around auckland. Very casual with lots of funk!

Brunch standard. Doesn't that nest just bring everyone to this spot, and for good reason it's the damn cat's pyjamas. I appreciate this place for it's relaxed light filled environment it's created. Staff are friendly faces, the food is good enough to hold it's own against it's instagram foodporn glory. Parking however is not the buzz, but what's a couple mins walk when you're feeling seedy on a weekend... (do it for the nest babygirl) x

If you would like value for your money? This cafe is for you. In the photo below is "The hunter". It was so filling. It lasted me about 3 meals during the day. Plus all their other meals that were coming out looked amazing!. I made this meal vegetarian by swapping the Chorizo Sausage for Avocado. <br/><br/>Definitely worth making the trip out from wherever you stay đŸ‘ŒđŸ»

First time here ordered the Banh Mi Chicken and tofu. The tofu sauce was good but not the chicken sauce little heavy hand on the salt. .over marinated. If not it's will be a great refreshing flavour with beansprout, grated carrot, coriander leaves and peanuts. Friendly staff and relax atmosphere. Superb coffee.

I've been to this place quite a few times now, mostly for brunch. <br/>It's really nice to find a good brunch place outside Auckland city area. <br/>I usually have geisha (I'm Japanese, and I don't normally like fusion food, but love this one) or the nest. Both dishes are very unique and worth going for. <br/>The menu doesn't change at all, but it's good if you are type of a food lover that want to keep on eating your favorite.

The menu selection is different but appealing. <br/>We ordered The Hunter with bacon which was a good idea as there wasn't a lot of chorizo and it needed more meat as balsamic is strong in flavour but nice.<br/>And I got The Nest... both dishes had amazing presentation -the WOW factor- I also got bacon & avocado with it which I'm glad I did as i needed more than just egg with salad.<br/>Bacon is cooked to perfection.<br/>Will definitely be back...

L'oeuf is hands down my favourite cafe for breakfast. Im utterly obsessed with 'the nest' - I would have this everyday for breakfast if I could. <br/>Its beautiful plated and tastes ridiculously amazing. The beetroot ketchup is a revelation.<br/>I'm praying it is never taken off the menu.

Arrived on a Sunday around lunch time and it was packed which is usually a good sign. We were greeted by friendly staff and ordered our meals. Because they were busy it was a bit of a wait for the food but it was definitely worth it. Food was really well presented, well worth the price and very tasteful. Would recommend their soba noodles and will probably return.

Been here on a Sunday for brunch. Good atmosphere , lively inside , many tables on the outside which is next to the road but plenty of sunshine. Very relaxed . We ordered three mains and three drinks . Drinks were ok, husband had an ice coffee which was too milky cant taste the coffee, my English breakfast was nicely presented with beautiful teapot; the mains: the famous nest eggs presentation was good but too salty , especially the salad ; the Geisha soba noodle was generous in size and very refreshing highly recommended especially summer ; Bent Min had a tasty sauce but nothing else was remarkable . Overall a nice cafe, beautifully presented food. We didn't have any real coffee so can't comment on that.

L’oeuf has been on the to do list for months now and finally, we visited for lunch in the weekend. After many reviews and posts about the ‘must try’ dish - The Nest, it was a no brainer to see what all the fuss is about. Walking in we were surprised to see most tables empty just before 1pm but at the same time pleased there would be minimal wait times. We ordered our coffees at the counter then found a table. The cafĂ© had a nice vibe to it and we liked the quirky touches to the decor. Our coffees were a bit bitter but with a little extra sugar than normal, they were good.<br/> <br/>Looking at the menu, I already knew what I wanted but my partner still needed to make up his mind. . My stomach dropped and rumbled Nooooo! Both dishes we had planned to order had sold out. This was a bit disappointing...they must be popular? Apologetic, the waitress swayed us to order the ‘The Hunter’ so we both opted for that. Hoping to get an extra side of avocado, they had also run out of them too.<br/> <br/>Arriving on the table the dishes were well portioned and smelt delicious. The presentation was different! Mushrooms aren’t easy to present but it was obvious they had made an effort. The ciabatta was barely in sight and was hidden underneath the large pile of mushrooms and sauce. The mushrooms were cooked well but the sauce was very rich and a little overpowering. The feta and chorizo helped balance it a bit and the ciabatta would have too if it wasn’t saturated in the sauce. My partner found his dish the same, but he had eggs instead of the chorizo. The dish would be great for those that love balsamic, mushrooms and truffle oil! But for us, it would have worked better as part of a big breakfast type dish – a smaller portion with a few more elements to balance it out. <br/> <br/>The service was very good during our visit - all the staff were friendly and efficient. We wouldn't return for the same dish again but we're still keen to try out 'The Nest'..fingers crossed next time we visit

The place was pretty much laid back and the staff were friendly and attentive. I ordered The Nest with bacon and avocado. It was beautifully presented and tasted great! The crumbed boiled eggs were made perfectly and I especially liked the beetroot ketchup. I'll be coming back for more and trying other items in their menu. Thumps up!

I often come here to have the Cambodian -amazing black rice pudding with a slightly salty coconut milk and garnished with lychees and beautiful flower petals. It's always a work of art and almost too pretty to eat. It is a real treat and probably quite healthy.<br/>I recently had the Hunter though and my only complaint would be that it said it had chorizo in the description in the menu, but mine only had about 2 small slivers. Still really delicious but I would have loved a bit more.

Finally made it out here and it was so worth it! The decor is so sweet and cosy, even though it was super busy. The staff are lovely and welcoming, and were helpful when I was trying to figure out what to eat (hello gluten and dairy free nightmare over here!) I went for The Cambodian - stick black banana rice with salted coconut cream, lychees, kiwi fruit and peanuts and it was so delicious. I'd never had anything like it before (but have seen similar items on other cafes and always interested.) The rest of the menu looked really good too so I'll definitely be back again!

Went for brunch today and this would be like my 6th time here now so could eaily say I've become somewhat of a regular here. Not once had this place disapointed. The food here is as if creativity and quality had a baby and they became the perfect family. <br/><br/>My friend liked the food here so much she ordered takeaway from the cabinet. <br/><br/>THE FOOD <br/>The Cambodian (5/5) - I'm generally more carnivorous with my meal options but i was in the mood for something more healthy. This meal you need to try at least once!!! Portion is JUST right, the texture was lerfect the taste was such an awesome combination...the feels were tropcial meets breaky...in the words of godilocks...this meal was just right. <br/><br/>The Architect (3.5/5) - Comparative to the other meal options this dish was abit plain jane. Granted the quality and the taste was good. <br/><br/>The Nest (4.7/5) - The composition of this dish is not only creative but well balanced in its flavors. The richness of the cheese, the tame flavouring of the salad then you also have that noodle....how well the eggs are cooked....other then one of the eggs being just a little tiny bit overcook from soft boiled this dish was on point!!!!<br/><br/>The Hunter (5/5) - This is my number one dish, like I said earlier I'm quite carnivorous in my choices and man does this one do justice. This is the meal for someome who wants a heavy meal without the heavy feel afterwards. The flavour of the chorizo stands out and its as if the dish seduces the taste buds...do not let the look of this dishes deceive you!! (It looks like a pit of tar) <br/><br/>Mocha (5/5) - I like soy mocha and have enjoyed it. Can't say im a coffee connisor in this area and am quiet low maintenance here. <br/><br/>THE SERVICE<br/>The staff service is impeccable, one time my napkin flew away and the waitress quickly grabbed it and ran a new one to my table, they have always been polite and attentive. <br/><br/>THE ENVIROMENT<br/>One thing I love about this place that its warm and comfortable enough to catch up with a few friends. Just a damn great time. You should go along and enjoy a tasty meal beautifully presented. Will definitely be back!<br/><br/>I had a black rice bowl which had lychees and kiwifruit and I think coconut milk in it (I opted for the extra peanuts) and the difference in temperature was really unexpected and pleasant, the rice was warm but the rest was cool. You won't be hangry after this!

First time here and came highly recommended by a friend who visits often. Wow this is a little gem with a big hearty Asian fusion menu that really impressed my partner and I , coming here during the week for a Valentines lunch. Staff upon arriving immediately cleaned a table after other people left; as this appears to be popular even for weekly dining<br/>. Loved the seating with magazines to read and large spaces between tables. I had the Huntsman which has big portion of portobello mushrooms and bacon as a side, and I added a salad which was green and delicious. My partner had the Geisha with chicken which she assured me was very tasty and plenty of noodles and ginger in a large bowl. We both enjoyed the in house Chai with optional soya milk and were told there was a big selection of gluten-free breads available but I enjoyed their sourdough. Free parking nearby and indoor outdoor dining tables make L'oeuf..The Egg ...a very pleasant Cafe to bring your friends . Kitchen can be seen as we eat which kept the staff and other diners happy with lots of friendly and banter going on . And we felt that this place deserved a race on this site .Go there for breakfast we were told..however lunch was better for a wet gloomy Auckland day and we left smiling..<br/>

This sunny noon we were joined by some members of the CAP team, all 9 of us squeezing onto the wooden seats outside Chinoiserie (which is the adjacent night-time bar and eatery who share space turn-about - talk about efficiency!) The ol’ favourites like the perpetually instagrammable ‘Nest’ and colourful soba bowl ‘Geisha’ are still stalwarts of the menu, but if you’re looking for something different try the new ‘Poke Bowl’ and the ‘Good Waffle’ — all packed with flavour, wholesome goodness and beautifully plated. Honestly so sad I haven't come here sooner cause I live just up the road. And to only come here for cawfe and cake and not an actual meal đŸ˜© oh well my bad.<br/><br/>When I first saw this place i was like okay let's see how long it lasts as it's so cut throat and cafes have a 50/50 change of being successful. <br/><br/>This place has so much character and is gorgeous inside and out! It reminds me of a sun flower that's yellow petals are so bright and happy. <br/><br/>The decor is great - I loved the teal tiles along the benches inside and the rustic 60s looking tables. <br/><br/>This lemon and coconut plum cake was sent from the baking gods and whoever came up with this recipe you deserve a medal mate, it was beautiful! <br/><br/>Can't fault a thing. Your staff are awesome!

Highly recommend this cafe. Also in love with the bao place that opens in the afternoon next door when this place closes. <br/>If you are sick of eating boring big kiwi break fast or egg bene on toast on ur sat/Sunday brunch this is def worth a try. Their fusion style of food is contemporary and the flavours are flavoursome and will hit those notes in ur taste buds. <br/>And their coffee is great so that's a bonus!

Yummy yummy yummy. I came with my bestie for lunch and coffee. As soon as we got there, we were served quickly. We ordered and the food was out in about 10 minutes. I got the hunt which is a balsamic mushroom dish - amazing! My bestie got the nest which she said was delicious. Gorgeous day so we sat outside. We also ordered coffees which was beautiful. The service was great, the food was great and the atmosphere was awesome! Will definately come again and also tell people to come!

I totally get why this place is on the map! The Nest was a must try and it didn't disappoint at all. Soft boiled egg and the crust is a match made in heaven like no other. And the filo pastry nest was delicate and delish. My brekkie partner enjoyed the balsamic mush and chorizo and I got a mouthful to sample. I have to say the acidity, texture and flavours are perfect as some places make it taste too rich and creamy or too acid like. Perfect combination of ingredients. The coconut rice dish (we shared) again perfect end to a lovely start to Sunday. <br/>Thanks guys and I look forward to coming back to eat my way through the rest of your menu!!!<br/>Staff attentive and friendly too.

Fresh ingredients, wholesome food that tastes great. The nest is of course a favourite! You can't really go past those sunflower seed crusted eggs and the Beetroot purée is delicious. Service was great too, the food was very quick to the table and the staff were very hospitable. The drinks menu is limited but the lassi is yum!

Came here spontaneously with a friend on a Saturday around 2:30pm and it was very quiet. They took our drinks order quickly and took the food order when the drinks (hot chocolate and flat white) were ready. Sadly they had sold out of banh mi's but that did force us to both try different dishes.<br/><br/>I order the Hunter and my friend ordered the Geisha. At first I was overwhelmed by the richness of the Hunter but it settled after the first mouthful and it turned out the be a tasty and filling dish, although the chorizo was rather scarce. The Geisha looked amazing but we did not share since they were such different dishes.<br/><br/>Service was good, food came out quickly, it has a refreshingly different  menu and very cute decor. A super sweet neighbourhood cafe. We had to leave when they closed at 3:30pm and unfortunately the place next door opens at 4:00pm. I don't know if they are jointly owned but we would have gone from one to the other if the times synced up.

The staff were very apologetic for the wait times and busyness, but the food still arrived quickly, even before the drinks. The menu was very interesting, as many of the flavours are not typically used in breakfasts. 'The nest' was creative, and we loved the crumbed poached eggs. The mushroom dish was good but not very generous, as the waitress only advised to order one side with it. Overall a worthwhile visit for brunch.

I really wanted to try The Nest, but it had been sold out by the time I arrived around 1! Gotta go earlier next time haha. I ended up getting The Geisha instead, which was delicious-- fresh, cool, and light. I thought there was a little too much of the ginger(?) --the pink stuff-- but otherwise wonderful. The service was lovely, and I definitely will be going back to try (and Instagram) The Nest!

Love the decor and the vibe of this place, in suburbia. It is quite spacious but could get busy indeed. Nice covered outdoor area for a good day. <br/><br/>Wasn't too amazed at my dry cappuccino but loved the uniqueness of the menu. I had the truffled mushroom with chorizo and felt the taste could be rather rich but the chorizo helped balance out the creaminess. <br/><br/>My friend had the kimchi baked beans.. Very smart concoction! <br/><br/>Overall I would be back as many others on the menu to try, especially the well know bird nest!

My friend had The Geisha, soba noodles with fresh veges and a Japanese dressing again the flavours of this dish were also great! Can't wait to come back here!

The interior is amazing! I only had a drink, loose leaved green tea, but was brought out fast and tasted delicious. Was a good size and was presented perfectly. Would love to come back for food, the food I saw taken out looked AMAZINGLY and very well presented. Need to visit the neighbouring eateries too, very cute little line of shops.

I had been past L'ouef many times & even been next door to Chinoiserie, but finally had time to stop in for brunch. I'd heard many good things about this cafe which is in a small group of shops, and was interested to see if it was as good as the feedback I'd heard. Well I'm pleased to say that it was as good and even better than expected.<br/><br/>Cafes are an interesting thing - you could quite often cook at home what they serve, but you go there for the atmosphere & to enjoy great service - these are a few of the things that L'oeuf do well.<br/>Arriving on a busy week day I scored a spot on one of the bench seats outside. You don't have a view of a park, but the view of the intersection & people passing by is still interesting to watch.<br/><br/>Service from the moment I was arrived was friendly & engaging. Just enough banter to make you feel welcome & valued as a customer. <br/>I decided to order my usual coffee - it arrived in good time, and well made. No bitterness. <br/><br/>I decided to order 'The Nest' as I'd heard such good things & it was a unique dish. You can add a side of bacon or avo - I went with the avo as they are so good. I wasn't certain how this dish would all work together - I like all of the ingredients, but so much salad for brunch seems like a token 'filler'. Well I'm pleased to say that everything worked well to make what was a stunning dish. <br/>The eggs were perfectly cooked with a nice crispy coating & runny yoke inside. The 'nest' was again perfectly cooked & added nice texture to the dish. Chunks of a delicious tasty feta added another flavour alongside the Beetroot purée which was the base of the dish. The salad was dressed with possibly an oil? Whatever it was, it was a perfect 'vehicle' to bring all the elements of the dish together. There was sweet, salty, crispy, creamy ...right to the last bite. Yum! <br/>Will definitely be back to try more of the menu & hope that what I experienced today is consistent in the way of service & food quality. It sure seemed to be judging by the number of locals being welcomed.

We came for coffee and cake - both were very good.  The bronuts are delish, filled with caramel sauce!  The service was excellent, and the tables clean. We will def be back for a meal here to try one of their delicious looking dishes we saw served up today.

came here with my partner and ordered the nest and the little Kim. little Kim was incredibly spicy that I couldn't eat it which was a shame. partner got the nest with avocado but discovered after being charged $51.40 for our meals (thinking we had been overcharged) that they didn't even give us the avocado. we also ordered 2 mochas which were not the nicest and at $5 each by the looks of it. very over priced and not the nicest food but service excellent and got our meals quite quickly despite the place being busy.

We had brunch at L'oeuf with a friend and he was the one who picked the place as I never heard of it before, what a good surprise!<br/>The Banh Mi was an explosion of Asian savours, the best I had in Auckland so far. <br/>The Nest, upgraded with bacon and avocado, was one of the best dish I've ever had for brunch. Not only is the presentation amazing, all the flavours perfectly complement each other to create a great dish.<br/>I highly recommend it!

I was genuinely so so excited for this place and I was kind of let down when I finally got the chance to try it! The service was OK 😐 our table didn't get wiped down until we had actually ordered our food and we had to ask for this. While the staff we not rude themselves, there was just something off about the service to me. The menu is quite different but also exciting - if you like strong flavours then this is the cafe for you. My one massive gripe about this place is that the name means egg in French, but they will only do their eggs poached or boiled - not scrambled or fried... Otherwise everything else was great about this cafe, it's just a pity the actual experience there overrode the quality and pizazz the food has 🙄

I visited last year and parking up on an average Auckland street, I wondered where my friends were taking me. The place was packed! The coffee was average and their was an unusual odour of 2nd hand furniture in the air. I wasn't feeling that impressed until my breakfast arrived. What a sight! <br/>I had The Nest, which I am led to believe is there signature dish and my Russian friend had, The Russian, which is no longer on the menu unfortunately. Both dishes presented beautifully, full of flavours and substance. Both plates were polished off promptly and we left happy diners. <br/><br/>We couldn't manage any more but there is an appetising selection of take away cakes and pastries at the counter too, which accommodated gluten intolerance. <br/><br/>Will go back.

Found this gem in Central Auckland which is a perfect spot for brekkie. <br/><br/>Ordered the iced chocolate which was perfect. <br/><br/>The Banh Mi was actually good. It was my first Banh Mi and I can say that I will come back for more. Looked tiny at first but its actually filling. Add an egg and it actually makes it extra tastier ;)<br/><br/>Also ordered the hunter for I love mushroom. And I can say it is a mushroom overload dish. Didn't really see much chorizo but taste wise the truffle oil was a bit strong. Still its a tasty nice dish that fueled up my morning.<br/><br/>

We had to try L'oeuf after seeing their awesome The nest dish floating around on social media. <br/><br/>As with all cafe that has built up quite a reputation, the place was buzzing with people. It was a very cute cafe with some unique decor that's some where between vintage(-ish) with a modern twist. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it is quite special.<br/><br/>Of course I had to order the Nest (with black pudding) while my partner ordered the Geisha. <br/>I was not disappointed, it came out pretty as a picture. The eggs were nicely cooked, full of that runny goodness, while the salad was fresh and paired nicely with the beetroot sauce and black pudding. The nest itself I have to say, was not only cute to look at, it was pretty tasty too, by itself with some lovely sea salt, or as a lovely texture with the salad.<br/>I didn't get a chance to try the Geisha as I was too busy scuffing down mine, but it came out in a very generous portion full of herb, veggies and flavour. My partner was definitely not disappointed.<br/><br/>I have to say that the lighting of the cafe can be on the dim side, which doesn't help with all the flies eager to get a taste of our food too. Nevertheless, the staff were very friendly, quick and attentive.<br/><br/>L'oeuf was just a heaven for egg lovers, and I am looking forward to my many more visits in the future.

They are so so delicious and fulfilling and worth every penny ❀ If you have a sweet tooth, order The Cambodian or the Aloha. If you have a big appetite, order The Duchess or The Nest. Better yet, design your own dish with the Architect. Whatever you order you can't be disappointed 😌😌 I should also mention that the coffee here is great as well đŸ‘đŸŒ and they have a range of yummy looking baked goods (which I haven't tried yet coz they are sold out when I'm there 😂) Anyway, L'oeuf is def a must-visit destination for food lovers in Auckland ❀❀❀

L'oeuf is a cute little cafe hidden in the burbs. I absolutely loved chinoserie so one morning I drove half way across auckland to give it a go! <br/><br/>I had the Cambodian which was a sweet black banana rice w salted coconut cream w kiwifruit and lychee and he had the Hunter which was basically mushrooms on sourdough.<br/><br/>Although meals were quite decent, I personally thought they were both lacking a little something which I couldn't pin point. At $50 for a lacklustre meal and 2 OK coffees is a little steep also. <br/><br/>Ambiance is OK. A little too dark for my liking but let's blame the overcast for that :-) <br/><br/><br/>

I absolutely adore this place! Recommended to me by a colleague who lives in the area we drove from Howick and Kumeu (as it was sort of in the middle) to give it a go! Expectations were high but they were still blown out of the water!<br/><br/>Firstly, the coffee is superb. Get one then get another and start your day good and proper.<br/><br/>Secondly, the service is even better than the coffee. The staff are perfection; attentive enough to check in to see if you need anything; everything comes out quickly and they don't hover annoyingly pawning their wares or hurry you to clear the table and pay the bill.<br/><br/>Thirdly, it's not just your traditional cafe fare. It's the usual suspects but with delicious and different twists! I had the kimchi baked beans and devoured the lot! Dad wasn't so adventurous and harnessed his inner 4 year old and had soldiers better granny makes, but we are told not to share that further.<br/><br/>Even if you're not close to this cafe it is 100% worth the trip!

Pretty nice place, lots of native ferns on display. A place for hipsters and families. A twist on your favourite breakfasts that's worth a try. My rice breakfast with lychee is the best thing I've eaten for breakfast in ages. Good for a try if you are looking for something a little different for breakfast or brunch

Went there for lunch with my partner, heard a lot of reviews so we drove in from Albany. As it was a busy day they have ran out of Banh Mi and Miss Bibimbap and only one Nest left. We put our order in beforehand by a nice girl with short blonde hair. Another girl with dreaded hair came after and pushed our order aside for her friends who came after us. <br/><br/>We found this quite rude and left the premise to go elsewhere. <br/><br/>

Always a top notch experience. The menu has remained fairly stable over the years, and with great reason - every item is a stunner. I have slowly made my way through the various options, helping out friends when necessary. A particular favorite of mine is the Hunter - creamy portobello mushrooms with chorizo. The coffee is delightful, the staff are friendly, and having this spot as a local on the outskirts of Mt Albert/ Mt Roskill makes it a stupendous winner. Great work by all

We went there to try the famous 'the nest' salad! Omg... it looked too beautiful to eat but the flavour of the dish can't keep up the quality of its look. The beetroot ketchup was way too sour.. so i ended up eating the eggs and my extra avocado only. My friend had a same dish but she enjoyed it. Perhaps its just me don't like it. Ordered the mango lasi? Smoothie thingy it was like a yogurt and thick texture but i liked it.

Tried this cafe on my girl friend's recommendation. It's quite busy, which is a good sign. The customer service were good. I tried the nest, which almost half of people there ordered one. I found out later that it's their signature dish. It look and  taste quite unique and good. The sauce at the bottom is amazing. Really want to try their donuts next time. I have been here twice now and both times have been great. There is no doubt about what is the thing to try on this menu. Its the hunter and is great! The staff were also lovely and let us sit outside with out dog (even had a doggie bowl). Coffee and ice chocolate were good as well. All and all great for catch up with friends or a nice breakfast with my man on a Sunday :)

In a nutshell.. Soo yum!!! I love that this amazing little cafe is placed a little off the "foodie" beaten track, and nestled in Mt Albert. Decorated with a kind of beachy oriental theme, the wait times are moderate and the wait staff are just lovely. <br/><br/>The menu is an Asian/Pacific fusion, with unique flavour combinations and extremely interesting options. We ordered today 'The Cambodian' and 'The Nest' which was the sticky back rice pudding dish with banana and coconut (which is my ultimate favourite- a definite must-try), and deep fried eggs with feta and Beetroot. All dishes are equally as delicious, exotic and exquisitely presented - well worth the price which is a little on the higher end. <br/><br/>Overall, a wonderful meal experience, you will want to come again and again to try all the dishes!

Some yum, different options from your usual Auckland cafe here. We went for lunch, boyfriend had The Nest (his review: Tasty, esp. the eggs, good size, the basket is a little gimmicky as it doesn't add much), I had The Geisha, again extremely well-portioned, actually got very full and almost couldn't finish which isn't so common, and yummy flavours. I'd go back when I'm not in the mood for the standard egg-y brunch.

Jungle vibe meets incredible breakfast cuisine. I can confirm the hunter is one of the best mushroom centric brunch dishes I've ever had. Sweet balsamic reduction balances the delightful savoury flavours of portobello mushrooms, truffle oil and a nice spicy kick of chorizo. If the egg was larger this dish would be perfection on a plate. On to it wait staff who seemed genuinely friendly. Love the interior with ferns and plants draped and growing along walls gives me a feeling like the jungle. I loved my L'oef experience. I'll be back.

Food that's as good as it looks! Perfect portion size and the salad went surprisingly well with the crumbed eggs. The nest was the best part of it, perhaps not the easiest to eat in a dignified manner haha. For the beautiful presentation and taste, the price was actually reasonable.

The Hunter & The Geisha are a must-try for any visitor. <br/><br/>The waiting staff were polite and the food arrived promptly. I came to L'oeuf for lunch with my dad. I had read heaps of reviews and had seen many photos about this cute little cafe so it was something I wanted to tick of my food list. <br/><br/>This treasure is tucked away on a side road in Mt Albert It's quite a small cafe right next door to Chinoiserie. It is quite a small cafe however the food comes out super fast so customers are in then out and you're not left waiting. The chefs are next to the counter cooking, making it visible when you're sitting and waiting for your meal or coffee. I find this intriguing as it's always interesting to know what and how they're cooking! <br/><br/>We went on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't too busy. I managed to claim a table on the side. Dad was running late however the waiters made the wait not so tedious and kept asking if I needed anything to drink or anything in general - very attentive. <br/><br/>Finally dad came and we ordered. Of course I was going to order the infamous - The Nest, which I had seen so many photos of. It was the perfect choice. The Nest itself (made out of filo pastry) came on a bed of salad and situated on top of an amazing beetroot purée. Inside the nest sit 2 soft boiled eggs. My eggs were perfectly cooked and melted in my mouth! The meal was perfect as it wasn't too heavy so i didn't leave feeling bloated or as though I had over eaten. Dad ordered a bacon and eggs on toast. <br/><br/>I also wanted to try The Geisha but that will have to be for next time. Definitely recommend this place if your in the Mt Albert area! <br/><br/>

The interior of L'oeuf is really cute and there is good outdoor seating options as well under cute parasols. I ordered the nest with a side of bacon and when it came out I almost didn't want to eat it it was too pretty! But then I dug in and it was delicious!!! My brother had a chocolate milkshake and the architect which is basically poached eggs on toast to which you can add sides. Delish!!!

A little French makes everything better. Just ask trendy neighborhood cafe L'oeuf; French for egg. The menu is anything but boring with inspirations from the Far East and West and items named accordingly. Excited by the ingenuity, we opted to share The Geisha and The Nest. The soba noodle chicken salad was a fresh delight while the crumbed soft-boiled egg in a nest of filo pastry tasted wonderful in it's uniqueness (also looked authentic; I almost thought I was eating some poor bird's nest lol), though the accompanying beetroot ketchup was a bit much. The sweet iced chocolate was a glorious addition. Fittingly, the decour is earthily charming with faux plants, photography and books adorning the polished wooden tables. It can get noisy and service is fluctuant though prices are on the better side at this quality Mt Albert eatery.

Beautiful plating to match its description in the menu (the nest, and a smoked fish dish that's not on the older version of menu currently on zomato) and beautiful and interesting combo of flavours. Luckily it was quite when we arrived on Sunday arvo, and dishes came out very quickly after placing our orders.

Heard plenty about this place...have been meaning to try it for ages, but it has always been jam-packed whenever I've gone past. <br/><br/>So I got up early last Sunday and made it there before the crowds!<br/><br/>I had the balsamic mushrooms with chorizo and a poached egg. Every part of the dish was perfect, such an amazing balance of flavours. <br/><br/>Coffee was hot and strong...just how I like it. <br/><br/>Definitely will be returning, as the rest of the menu looked delicious.

We were looking for new places to go for brunch, and stumbled upon this one while doing a quick online search for good spots. The interior is homely and full of greenery, with wooden chairs and tables, along with a lovely little outdoor area that gets lots of sunshine.<br/><br/>It was early afternoon, so a little bit late in the brunch time window, but the waitress was very courteous in letting us know which items on the menu were no longer available for the day as they ran out of ingredients. There were quite a few unavailable, but luckily there were still some yummy sounding things remaining. I also ordered an iced coffee as I was craving one that day.<br/><br/>The food came out relatively quick, and was also beautifully presented which is always a plus. I ordered 'The Cambodian', which was sweet banana black rice with coconut cream and lychees. It was refreshingly sweet and tasted very much like rice pudding but way better. The lychees were plump and juicy, and the iced coffee was a nice accompaniment for the meal.<br/><br/>Overall, a great experience, just a shame that some menu items weren't available, but guess that just means they're doing very well and I'll have to revisit soon!

Ever since seeing the beautiful egg nest I wanted to try L'oeuf. It didn't disappoint! The nest was delicious, with the filo ending up spread around the salad. I would've like a bit more leaf, usually the other ingredients:leaf ratio is off and you end up with too many leaves but the opposite was true here! I had feta and beetroot leftover with no leaves to smear in them. The coffee was good and service friendly. Other meals around us also looked really delicious. Presentation seems to mimic the Hip group cafes in some ways, but who cares. Will definitely be back to try again, would love to see a bigger menu!

The foods are very innovative as well as extremely flavorful especially the the nest. The bah mih, eith extra gong sauce (their housemade sauce) and chilli sauce is awesome. The peasant is an extremely interesting dish and a must try during the winter months.

I'm a big fan of L'oeuf ever since it opened. This cafe is a little beauty in town. Coffee is Amazing! I love 'soy latte' here. It's the Best in the city! Food is Superb! I've tried every single dish on the menu and I love every single one of them! How amazing! <br/>Interior is Unique. It's got a retro-oriental(?) set up in a very stylish way. Above all, Service is Excellent! Food always comes out fast, no need to wait 30 or 40mins here, quality control is great and staff is always very friendly and helpful. Price is very Reasonable. I think it's quite average compared to all other cafes in the city.

Everything was beautiful! Presentation is everything when it comes to this place! <br/><br/>Came here with my partner and our dogs for brunch, got an outside seat quite quickly on a busy Saturday. The waitresses were all very attentive and service was swift. <br/><br/>The menu was interesting, we ordered the hunter and the norseman, food looked beautiful. The norseman dish looks like painting. Very intricate, you can taste the thought process behind these dishes. The meals were substantial, a tad on the smaller side if you are one who enjoys big brunches. <br/><br/>The highlight is the salted caramel donut. BEST DONUT IN THE WORLD! It was amazingly huge, the dough was perfect, it wasn't too sweet so you can actually finish one whole donut comfortably. It was so good we had to buy more to take away with us. <br/><br/>Very excited to come again to try other things on the menu

We went to this place today morning for a breakfast. It's a very famous and very small place located in Mount Eden. We had The Hunter and The Persian followed by a hot chocolate and a late. The food was good and the service was alright. The downsides on this place in my opinion are;<br/><br/>1 - Small and busy place (people rush you out to order)<br/>2 - It's located close to a very busy road, so it's very noisy. For people looking peace of mind it's an issue<br/>3 - Benches are to close to each other, so it end up being quite uncomfortable to people get in and out on the rows.<br/>4 - No privacy at all once tables are to close to each other and benches are shared.<br/><br/>I believe this is a good place to takeaway your coffee but definitely not a good place to sit down and enjoy a breakfast, despite the fact the services not being bad and the food is good.

Running #brunchclub you could say that I'm a professional bruncher. I've been to a ridiculous number of cafes, tried an innumerous count of big breakfasts. Brunch, I get ya. But brunch can also be kinda boring, it's where cafes can be forgiven for lacking in creativity, for producing what you'd expect to see. <br/><br/>This is not the case with L'Oeuf. This little cafe that sits on the corner of Owairaka Ave in Mt Albert is quite the surprise, having taken basic elements of the common brunch menu with a rather exciting international twist. <br/><br/>You can choose to get spicy Miss Bibimap (a Korean mince dish featuring seaweed salad, rice and a poached egg) or indulge your need for hair of the dog with the vodka cured salmon tartare in The Russian. Both are extremely tasty <br/><br/>If you must really have your toast, eggs and bacon or whatever, The Architect allows you to build your own meal, but why would you? The menu at L'Oeuf is an adventure, embrace it!<br/><br/>L'Oeuf is an absolute delight of a cafe to brunch at, the decor is lovely, the staff are even lovelier. This little cafe has been sitting on my little food bucket list for over a year and a half after hearing the great reviews about the food ( especially the infamous nest), so I was super happy to finally come here for lunch with my friend. I drove us here at around 11am and finding parking was no problemo as there were many side streets available nearby.<br/><br/>One thing I like about this cafe is the area where it's located in. In contrast to the business of Auckland cbd, very few cafes and restaurants surrounded L'oeuf which made it a nice change. The cafe interior itself was adorable! Really loved the little pot plants and seating arrangements they had going on. A waiter sat us both down immediately and was friendly and attentive. We decided on The Nest ( of course) and The Cambodian as we were craving something sweet too; + we ordered the mango and orange blossom lassi which came out very quickly ( this was super yum! Could tell fresh fruits were used to make this)<br/><br/>Both dishes came out relatively quickly ( around ten minutes) and both beautifully presented in these gorgeous ceramic plates. The Nest looked exactly like what I had expected it to ( from it's insta-fame), however I didnt expect the taste to be so deliciousss! The highlight of the dish was definitely the crust on the eggs and that combiniation of beetroot ketchup and feta in the salad, I dieeed it was so good! However, one of the eggs was overdone which was unfortunate but no biggie :) 4/5 <br/><br/>The Cambodian- I really enjoyed this dish too and it reminded me of my Malaysian childhoods when I used to eat black rice pudding iwth coconut cream, however I would reccomend this dish to be shared as it did get a little sickening after eating a couple of spoons :) Loved the fact that it was a warm dish too! would give it a 3.5/5<br/><br/>Overall, the food and service was extremely good and prices were pretty reasonable for these plates of art. Would highly reccomend checking it out if you're in the area!

Fabulous place to munch. We've been here several times for breakfast and it's always tip top and, er, busy. But what's in a 5 minute wait if it's good? <br/><br/>So many interesting things to choose from. My fave is the eggs in a nest (or something like that). Really interestingly presented and so tasty it'll knock your socks off... if you weren't wearing shoes.<br/><br/>So go try it out. You'll love it.

Always consistently good service & food... Free parking so better than city dining... I always get “THE GEISHA” : a Japanese inspired dish (so if you like Sushi you’ll love it). Generous portion size for $17.90 - I always manage pace myself thorough it all - but I’ve seen people share with two sets of chopsticks in the past. Great fulfilling meal for brunch/lunch date with good friends or family members.

We have recently moved to the area and made this our new local. The service is great and staff are always accommodating, the food is both beautifully presented and beautiful to eat - our favourite is the peasant. Coffee is perfect and their sweet treats at the counter are delicious - the coconut banana bread is my favourite. Definitely worth a visit for a weekend brunch and something a little bit different.

I had heard many good reviews about this cafe, but to be honest, I was slightly disappointed. Ordered The Nest and The Hunter. Definitely too much of the beetroot sauce with the The Nest and I would have liked to see a few more elements on the plate with The Hunter. Perhaps have eggs as standard to go with the dish. However the food was very elegantly presented. Very pleasant breakfast experience.

I'd heard a lot of good things about this place before I went. The bar had been set high and my expectations were definitely met!<br/>I went with a group of girls for brunch, which ended up being lunch because it took a while for all of us to turn up. The staff were very patient with us.<br/>All of the items on the menu sounded interesting and delicious, especially sweet black banana rice served on salted caramel cream. I chose the dish called The Nest which consisted of walnut crumbed soft boiled eggs (perfectly done) in a nest made out of filo pastry, it almost looked too cool to eat! The salad underneath had a really yummy beetroot ketchup. <br/>I didn't order anything sweet. But when I went to pay I discovered doughnuts, cupcakes and slices if various sweet loaves by the counter. Make sure that you check out these options when ordering!<br/>It's a very popular place, there were people waiting outside for their chance to score a seat. Mt Albert wouldn't be my personal choice for a brunch location,but now I definitely have a reason to go back.

Gosh I can't stop raving about this café.  A group of girlfriends and I came for breakfast on Saturday for my birthday breakfast.  We received really friendly table service (even though they were really busy!) I ordered the Nest which was not only a taste explosion, but looked so pretty.  Their "bronuts" donuts filled with caramel is also a winner.  I'll definitely be back!

Brunch w. my wife, we had our usual trim flat whites, I had the The Architect, free ranged poached eggs with extra sides and my wife ordered The Persian, nutty granola on lemon yoghurt. Both of these meals were very tasty, and it's a bonus that it's not far from where we live. Lots of free parking too. They had some old Eric Benet playing too, adding to the hip atmosphere indoors and my wife fell in love with their teal sun umbrella. They kindly gave her the information of where it came from too. Would be nice to go back with a group for a meal in the arvo.

The food is beautiful for the camera and rather average for the taste buds. This is a very popular neighbourhood cafe and hence is very loud, especially if you are seated indoors. I paid 20.9 for a small bowl of 3/4 salad and 1/4 soba noodles with few pieces of chicken soaked in dressing. I ended up eating the other egg from my friend's 'The Nest' dish which had a nice soft center.

I took my sister to the jewel in Mt Albert's cafe scene and was not disappointed! The decor was retro inspired without being too kitsch and I fell in love the rustic serving plates. The eggs with salmon tartare were probably the best I've had for years. Delicate flavours and beautifully complimented with fresh dill. Totally recommended!

This place has been on my dining wishlist for a while, ever since I came across photos of the artistic dishes on Zomato and Instagram. My friends and I finally managed to try L’oeuf in Mount Albert. Getting a table at the busy little cafe was much easier than expected (we assumed we had to wait), and the five of us took a seat outside while we enjoyed our dose of vitamin D.<br/><br/>I opted for one of the most popular dish from Loeuf, the Nest! An artistic representaion of a bird’s nest, it consists of two crumbed soft-boiled eggs sitting inside a filo pastry nest and on top of a leafy mesclun salad with feta cheese, beetroot puree and an addition side of crispy bacon.<br/><br/>Along with the dainty edible blooms, this looks just like a bird’s nest on a tree. The beetroot ketchup was a tasty way to add moisture to the salad and my favourite part is the sunflower seed coating on the eggs which added a subtle nutty taste. The side of bacon is optional but highly recommended. My soy iced coffee made with Atomic beans was spot on and was the perfect beverage for a warm sunny afternoon.

Came here on a Thursday late morning after wanting to try it for ages. <br/>I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered The Nest and The Hunter.<br/>The Nest really is a creative and original dish. I really think cafes in NZ are stepping up their game with these type of dishes. It was really delicious and I would recommend it to people who would like to try something other than the usual eggs benedict.<br/>The Hunter was good too, although I do think that I prefer a similar dish at Odettes. Will definitely be back for The Nest and also The Cambodian - which I haven't tried yet .

Well not sure what all the fuss is about. Fristly can not book so have to take pot luck if you can even get in. Though once the Newness has worn off this will not be a problem. Simple does not describe the "menu" Overpriced does. I had the bibimbap as it looked good on facebook. Jasper must use the same photographer as Mac D as the big mac never looks the same in the photo. Small and over priced for what is essentially street food. Can get twice as much in the city with better flavors and better pricing<br/>Now I am left wondering what will replace them in 6 months to a years time. <br/>PS Parking is worse than high street in the city where the korean food is better and cheaper <br/>Can not see a minus rating as that is what these guys are worth

The cafe whose name I can never correctly pronounce.<br/><br/>When I first heard that the vacant shops in Owairaka had finally been bought, after months, maybe years, of them being empty, i didnt understand the popularity of l'oeuf, considering the location and all of it's surrounding amenities being absolute rubbish.<br/><br/>However, after visiting and experiencing the food first hand, I can safely say that the food will be the sole factor for my intended return.<br/><br/>On arrival, I had barely walked inside and looked at the cafe itself before my group had decided to sit outside. Actually, I didn't look inside at all. I had heard very positive reviews about l'oeuf ' s menu, but when I saw it for myself I was far more impressed with the options available after their slight menu change, and was absolutely baffled at what to get ( a good thing when it comes to me!) . After conducting a tactful process of elimination, I decided on the Miss Bambikin, a korean inspired dish. Zoe ordered The Geisha, Mum ordered the Hunter and Dad also ordered the Bambikin.<br/><br/>When the dishes arrived, I could not have<br/>been more happy with my decision, and usually if I'm indecisive before my decision, I regret it anyway and want what i didn't get. But not this time. At first glance, the dish was large and nutritious looking. Everything was delicious and i would not change a single element in my dish. I didn't enjoy my taste of the soba noodles, but i The Hunter, balsamic mushrooms on toast with truffle oil, was exceptional!<br/><br/>L'oeuf had genuinely given me the best experience I have EVER had at a cafe. Often I don't feel compelled to return to cafes as I know I can cook cafe typical things like pancakes, french toast and eggs Benedict myself, but at l'oeuf they have given me an experience I cannot recreate without returning. Their portion sizes are so large you could easily split it between two, or enjoy it during lunch and not eat dinner that day.<br/><br/>Many people recommend the banh mi, the geisha and the Cambodian, but i recommend the Bambikin.<br/><br/>Visit l'oeuf, you will not be disappointed

This place was everything it promises. Good simple foods with a twist. Big portions. Good coffee & drinks. And friendly staff. <br/><br/>We ordered the soba noodles, bibimbap, salmon tartare, iced mocha & mango lassi.<br/>No complaints from me but, my sister thought the soba noodles lacked a bit of flavour and seasoning. <br/><br/>Staff were attentive and food was quick to serve. We loved how they served up classic dishes but with a slight twist. I've had a lot of fusion food before and not everyone manages to get it right. <br/><br/>Food: 5/5 <br/>Service:5/5 <br/>Atmosphere : 4.8/5 (chairs were a little uncomfortable) <br/>Iced mocha : 5/5 (its quite watery compared to what I'm used to getting, but the ratio between coffee and choc was perfect. The coffee beans they use are very aromatic too.)<br/>Value for money : 5/5

The coffee is good and the service as to be expected. Cakes delicious. Chilli savoury muffins to die for. <br/><br/>My only critique would be to stop burning the (vogels) toast which you serve with vegemite, and egg soldiers. I know it needs to be crunchy but not black. Easy fix.

I had read some reviews for this place but didn't know where it was until one day I was driving and turned my head and lo and behold there is was!  Funny cause I drive by there all the time I just never bothered to look at the shops in that area.  <br/><br/>When I got there it was a beautiful day, no wind, heat or humidity, great weather to sit outside and we were lucky that it wasn't packed yet.  The coffee was great, not burnt and just delicious.  I was really enjoying this place already and that was even before I ordered the food.  It seems that if you are going there you need to try the nest.  Everyone raves about it so if you don't get it you'll feel like you've missed the best item on the menu.  When the waitress had delivered the dish I was blown away.  It was plated so stunningly I didn't even want to touch it!  I took pics of it to send to friends immediately and they were just as impressed.  Once I got over that and took a knife to the eggs the yolk started running.  It was a perfectly cooked egg and I couldn't wait to try it.  The crust was light on the egg and mixed with the salad it just melted in my mouth.  <br/><br/>One of the best breakfasts I have ever had.  I can't rave on enough about this place.  Highly recommend this place to anyone and will be going back for one of their other dishes one day soon!

We went along to L'oeuf one weekend with some friends for brunch and we were not disappointed.  It was a sunny day and I was glad we got a table outside as it looked a bit dark and less spacious inside.<br/><br/>The food was delicious.  I ordered the Cambodian which I really enjoyed - it was a pity there wasn't more as I polished it off without any trouble!<br/><br/>Everyone else on the table really liked their meals too - the Nest looked particularly impressive and I would be keen to try that next time.<br/><br/>The service was efficient and friendly as well.  Bubs was well-catered for with a high chair and the Soldiers dish - toast soldiers with soft boiled eggs and Marmite.  Definitely a place I would be keen to come back to.

Such nice coffee, and food, and ermagurd those sticky donut things ლ(®ڡ`ლ) <br/>truly a "gem" in the "crown" of Mt Albert. I really liked the interior - so much greenery. Plus a delightful euphorbia specimen. <br/>Especial commendation goes to the very nice people who work there, and to the bread which is outrageous good.

I went here on a whim because everyone was saying great things. And it idid not disappoint. The Iced Coffees came out in jars (which is now a fairly common occurence - but NEVER gets old!!).<br/>The food was good, I had to try somethjng that I knew to see how well done it was - so their version of mushrooms and toast! Now I cannot wait to try out the rest of their interesting menu!

The space of L’oeuf is beautiful. It’s uncluttered, it’s relaxing – adorned with cascading plants on tables and shelves. There’s the relaxed vibe of Little and Friday, with more structure in the layout with earthy tones of the smooth chairs and various art and photography books on the table.<br/><br/>At first look on the menu, you can tell there’s something different on offer at L’oeuf. It’s anything but formulaic. With intriguing names like The Hunter, The Russian and The Geisha, the personality invites you. On a closer read, the menu offers a diverse choice of Asian and European cooking with the traditional brunch food of mushrooms and chorizo for The Hunter, and soba noodles represented by The Geisha.<br/><br/>For once though, my mind was made up within seconds from seeing the menu.<br/><br/>I ordered The Nest - Two sunflower seed crumbed soft-boiled eggs, in a filo pastry nest, with beetroot ketchup, feta and mesclun salad. <br/><br/>It was beaaautiful when it came, and it brought envy to the whole table. Hehehe.<br/><br/>The best thing was cutting through the soft-boiled egg to see the yolk ooze out. Something I do to every poached egg but it was such a clever idea of placing the eggs on a "nest". Made me feel a bit cruel though to eat eggs straight from the mother's home.<br/><br/>The presentation DID match the taste, and I was so glad. It was so well presented that I had somehow braced myself for below-par freshness and taste, or weird flavour combinations. The salad was so good, one of the best brunch salads I've had. With enough beetroot ketchup swirled at the bottom, it didn't need any other dressing that would normally drench the salad greens and weigh it down. Cutting the nest was surprisingly easy, even for my unco skills that would normally resort to me spiking a piece halfway across the table.<br/><br/>I ordered it without the choice of black pudding or bacon and that suited me, but someone more meat-hungry should try it with the bacon.<br/><br/>My friend ordered The Geisha - soba noodles tossed with red cabbage, daikon, spring onion, bean sprouts and mesclun salad tossed in Japanese sesame dressing. It was confirmed amazing and I was too obsessed with my own food to get a taster.<br/><br/>I love a quality hangout spot and while it's out of the way for most, go for the food! It's so worth it and I'll be back in the neighbourhood again to try The Cambodian - sweet banana rice with salted coconut cream, lychees and kiwi fruit. That would have been my second choice after The Nest. It's always a tug of war between the sweet and savoury for brunches, and lately savoury has been dominating. Maybe just not that time of the month hah.

Moving to a new suburb of Auckland is a fantastic excuse to explore new eateries and coincidentally, L'ouef is fairly close to my new home.<br/><br/>We walked in and immediately loved the decor, especially the amount of plants and flowers throughout. It was fairly busy this morning, but totally understandable for a sunny Sunday.<br/><br/>We both ordered flatwhites which came out promptly. Quite strong, but appreciated and they definitely hit the spot. I ordered the Geisha - soba noodle, bean sprouts, veges tofu and ginger. It was presented so beautifully (photo doesn't do it justice) and tastes even better. The ginger was a brilliant addition and really tied together the flavours in the dish.<br/><br/>My bf got the Peasant, a combo of white beans and bacon with sourdough on the side. He said it was excellent, however he said if it was slightly bigger in serving size it would be perfect.<br/><br/>As we went up to pay we noticed their selection of sweet treats on display so we decided to order one to takeaway. We ended up with a slice of choc, coconut and banana loaf which wasn't too sweet and very moist. <br/>

Recently visited this place and yes totally agree with rating well deserving ! Its unique menu and presentation is pleasing and taste is good! Love the Mango orange lassi but not a fan of paper straws. I had the Russian and I must say the flavors blended well! <br/>

This place is really busy and so it should be. The food is fantastic and after having 'The Russian' I can't wait to head back to try other dishes on the menu. The menu is more than just the normal breakfast offerings. They have the three magic cafe ingredients. Good food, great coffee & fast service. Limited seating outside if you have a dog. I went here for lunch today and ordered the granola. It was really nice, the muesli is delicious with the date purée and pear but the lemon yogurt was not lemony at all. Quite a cold place but friendly staff.

A good day started with a good meal. We live in the block but never noticed this lovely spot. Advised by zomato we came to L'oeuf.<br/><br/>We ordered the Hunter and the Nest. Hunter tastes more fabulous than its look, worths a try. The Nest has nice deco and the salad is good. It should be the top-ordered course.<br/><br/>My husband enjoyed the food very much and he said it's the best fusion he had ever tried in AKL. He actually is not so into the Cafe food. But we will visit here more. Thanks!<br/><br/>

I had been wanting to try this place for a while as I live locally. The coffee, food and service was excellent. I had the banh mi which was delicious and I enjoyed looking at the nest which my fellow diner ordered and as others have stated, is a true work of art. These dishes didn't just look pretty, they tasted great too. I look forward to returning often.

I can't get over how lovely this place was. The staff were super friendly and the food as refreshingly different from conventional cafes. I got the nest which was two poached eggs crumbed and then presented in a noodle basket. Looked amazing! I loved the coffee and even tried their Cranberry and Carrot tea which was awesome. Well done guys, I will definitely be back!

I've been here for both brunch and take away coffees. Superb every time. Coffee is lovely, and nice and strong. Have tried the Balinese sticky black rice, heavenly! And have had a wee sweet from the counter. Service is great and the staff are always friendly even when rushed off their feet. Great industrial/old school style interior. Will keep coming back and I absolutley recommend this cafe which fills a major gap in the area.

I don't want to sound over enthusiastic but I am still saying "omg mmmmm" 40 minutes after I left this place for lunch. The food is so delicious and tasty, the flavours are still lingering in my mouth. My partner and I ordered three things from the Menu, The Hunter, The Russian and the BĂĄnh mĂŹ takeaway, and we could not be happier. We will definitely be making this place our regular and spreading the word.

Was taken to L’oeuf by my daughter whilst visiting Auckland. It was a most pleasant place to eat lunch.<br/>The menu is so beautifully presented - each plate an art form.<br/>The food is exquisite. <br/>I had The Russian, a salmon tartare and it was to die for. My s-i-l had The Hunter - mushrooms, and my daughter The Geisha - soba noodles. My young son was not feeling 100%, he ordered the filled roll. It was a real picture but had way to many crushed peanuts in and on it for him to cope with, so my daughter swapped meals with him. Everyone was very happy. Plenty of delicious nutritious food to keep our tummies very happy for quite awhile.<br/>Definitely recommend this lovely cafe and will be returning!

Just had the best lunch I have had in a long time. Was called The Nest, amazing textures, flavours and very fresh. My friend had the poached eggs, salmon and a side of the beetroot sauce, she also said it was extremely good. Would highly recommend if you want something a little different from the usual cafe fare.

I know they may be new but honestly the worst we've been to in a very long while so felt just had to write a review (as normally wouldn't bother)The mocha didn't even resemble a mocha and both the mocha and the cappuccino were way too strong, watery and just not up to par. No cakes or slices to choose from at all and the poached eggs on the sour dough dish my son had was actually ciabatta bread (not sour dough though). It was cold and only was two small pieces of overcooked toast (even served it with burnt edges) with just a poached egg on top and that was it. (seriously could have done better for the price!) The muffin my mother had was average but she didn't like her flat white either as was also way too strong. Am a regular at cafes and love to try new places but won't be back to this one I'm afraid. Very disappointing for the over inflated prices.

Bringing Melbournian cuisine to Auckland. <br/><br/>After a 15 minute wait we got to our table and looked at a strangely familiar menu. The diverse menu and artistic presentation (try The Nest) catapults this little Mt Albert local into the running of a top end Auckland cafe. <br/><br/>It turns out that the head chef worked at a highly reviewed Melbourne cafe and styled his menu very similarly. L'eouf offers a refreshing alternative style of cuisine to your traditional brunch, with great coffee (atomic beans) and lovely service.

I ordered The Nest, which was a beautiful piece of art on a plate. It looked simple yet so complex. I found this dish to be near faultless. The beetroot ketchup was divine with its subtle spices of cinnamon and sweetness from dates or prunes. There is a fine line between an overdressed and an under-dressed salad and L’oeuf cleverly overcame this by putting the beetroot ketchup underneath the salad so you could mix in as much and as little as you like. The eggs came nestled in the filo pastry looking deliciously fried, crumbed and hot, and the smell wafted over you tantalisingly once the dish was brought to you.<br/><br/>My sister ordered The Geisha which looked eye-catchingly vibrant and fresh. Although this dish was good as in there wasn't anything bad about it, there just wasn't anything exciting either for me. I went to L’oeuf for the first time earlier this week to meet a friend for coffee (coffee was superb, we had 2 x each, I was zinging) – anyway, I swore to myself I’d go back to sample the menu.<br/><br/>We thought the stormy weather might deter the other brunching crowds this morning – so off we headed toward Mt Albert.<br/><br/>Where: 4a Owairaka Rd, Mt Albert, Auckland.<br/>Parking: easy and stress-free on the street.<br/>Coffee: is Atomic brand here. Once we sat down, we were immediately asked whether we wanted to start with coffees. YES. Great service and the drinks were perfect.<br/>Food: mmmmm the menu. Each dish has a unique and fitting name. I love salmon, so it was The Russian for me: Lemon vodka cured salmon tartare, a poached egg, lemon cream cheese served in a shot glass and thick seeded bread. Mr got The Hunter which would’ve been my next pick because I also love mushrooms. Creamy portobellos, chorizo, parmesan
 very drool-worthy. But, the food not only tastes wonderful (really wonderful) – the presentation is fantastic. Fairly certain this is the fanciest looking brunch I’ve ever had, and it definitely tasted just as good.<br/>Price: For two dishes, two coffees and a chocolate bronut (couldn’t resist, I mean COME ON) = just over $50.<br/><br/>The verdict: fabulous service. The food arrived swiftly – and photos just don’t do these dishes justice. They have delicious looking treats by the counter and their chocolate bronuts are next-level. I was looking for a new place to go for Brunch and found L'oeuf. This cafe opened recently in Mt Albert and has a nice light indoor area as well as outdoor seating, perfect for Brunch. Ordering can take a while as L'oeuf has many interesting international dishes which all sound delicious. We tried the The Russian, lemon vodka salmon tartare with a poached egg, toast and dill and lemon cream cheese, The Nest, two walnut crumbed soft-boiled eggs in a filo pastry nest, it is truly a work of art and The Architect with rocket salad. Everything was very tasty, as was the coffee which was double shot (as it should be). I look forward to going back to try The Cambodian, sweet black banana rice served on a bed of salted coconut cream with lychees, yum!
