Review Coffee Lab - Auckland

TOAST SANDWICHES & FLAT WHITE - Recommended here. The toasted sandwiches were affordable from the cabinet selection and deliciously flavoured. The flatwhite had the option of choosing the coffee bean blend which was fantastic. Atmosphere was cozy and busy in the main area, but it appeared there was extra seating at the back. Will be back!

Very tasty food and quick, professional service. One of the best eggs Benedict my husband has ever had. He also raved about his coffee. Peaceful place. Highly recommended and looking forward to coming back.

Great premium coffee. Super busy in the weekend, be prepared to wait for seats, coffee and car park space. Otherwise, great coffee and muffins! PS: Ask for the strong flavor of coffee bean of the day for the intense flavor, it stands out compared to all other coffee places i have ever been to!

Great coffee here :) in fact, "surprisingly good." The staff were all very prompt, friendly and helpful. The venue was pretty lively and busy but there was more space near the back that could be opened up - had a great vibe. Fun to watch the coffee beans getting roasted. Would recommend for coffee fans and general cafe goers looking for a meeting spot!
Alice
A cafe with bright, lively interior design and spacious indoor seating. It has 3 varieties of coffee beans to choose from for your coffees and it has a good selection of pastry and cakes too.

My wife and I visited Coffee Lab in August and September for some lunch and coffee beans. We love the food, coffee and service here. The café team looked very present and restful even though they were busy. One of the ladies noticed us leaving and took the time to look up and smile in the midst of her tasks to thank us for visiting. I am in the process of opening a luxury Hotel in Auckland. I would like my pre opening team trained like this to be present and acknowledge everyone that walks in and out of the hotel and our food and beverage outlets. I will bring my Executive team for pre opening lunch meetings at this café so that they can watch and learn the standards we want at our Café someday 😊

Highly recommend this place . It’s very nice place , staff are friendly and welcoming. The place concept ( coffee lab ) and all the machines are very nice . We tried flat white, decaf latte it is the best one we had before . The cheese scones and almond croissant are very delicious and fresh. We will go to visit this place again .

It should be the best Cafe in Auckland. My favourite is Mocha and iced mocha. The shop has a big coffee roasters, they sell beans as well. If you are in Auckland, must come to have a try. The best combination for me is an Americano with a Tiamitsu roll.

Really nice place perfect for a beautiful cup of coffee and breakfast ( best creamy mushroom ever). Friendly staff and nice atmosphere.

I would love to spend half a hour here to enjoy my coffee. This place is good, not that hard to find, a little public transport unfriendly. I had a cold brew here, taste great. They also have a range of single origin roasted beans for you to enjoy at home, professional.

Had a visit on a raining Monday morning. Very busy full of customers waiting for their coffee and savories. Had beautifully presented cabinet with food which I made me want to try one of each :) The interior was a wooden interior with a larger area further in. They also sell other coffee related equipment too. Their coffee was great and service was great no matter how busy the cafe was. Recommended.

Such delicious creamy mushroom and excellent service! Definitely 👍 recommend to all

Amazing coffee and really lovely service - super friendly and welcoming. Great place to work for the day!

The coffee is obviously very good, it's called Coffee Lab. The food is surprisingly very good and the desserts are ridiculous 😳. Don't let the unsavoury industrial roads of Wairau Park fool you, this place is legit!

Best coffee ever !! Came here last weekend w my sister and absolutely LOVED my cappuccino - AND you get to choose which beans you want - mine was cherry choc vanilla and was amazing. Was plenty of indoor seating, some outdoor tables and beanbags too ! Plus got to have puppy cuddles too!! Will be back for sure !

Such a cool little cafe hidden away on Auckland's North Shore. We both had the Acia Bowl.... devine! The presentation was stunning. Would highly recommend.

I love finding new places to eat at & today I came across a beauty...I had the creamy mushrooms which were AMAZING - best I’ve ever had! Coffee was soooooooo good & to top it off the caramel slice OMG - delicious! Atmosphere is nice & chilled & the service is 10/10 I highly recommend everyone to pop in & try this place out

Wow, this Brazil Serra Negra Super Natural is amazing coffee. I have worked my way through most of the range from Coffee Lab and I have my favorites but this one that they occasionally have is totally awesome. The coffee does match the tasting notes as on the label unlike some places. You need to check this lot out, I can highly recommend any if this one is not out for sale as they tell me this one goes out the door really fast. Thanks coffee lab for being such a dedicated award winning roaster who just lives and breaths coffee, as you would expect for top coffee you pay a bit more for it but so what. I live on a budget like most people these days, and this is a treat to myself and any lucky friends who pop around home. No people I do not get a commission or even discount on my purchases, I just love there product and what they are about, I also just believe something so good must be shared. Kind regards Paul Mason-Riseborough

The absolutely best place for coffee on the Northshore and arguably in Auckland. If you love your java this is the Mecca. Food is excellent also but coffee is another level.

It's my weekly hangout with work colleagues ! Took my hubby for breakfast yesterday and it was absolutely delicious. Love all the staff there too. Highly recommended!
Lorena O'Sullivan
Delicious coffee and so wonderful that they source ethical beans. Highly recommend.
Kim Leong
Fantastic coffee and great service guys! Thanks for going the extra mile for me when I left my jacket at your cafe - thanks so much for posting to me as I live out of town
Leah Glückler
I went there for lunch today and was very surprised, how many vegan options they had! I can highly reccoment the cauliflower chickpea fritters with couscous and avocadocream and the coffee was very very jummy as well!
Sue Beale
Great coffee and food. Love this place - well worth a visit
Lisa Carpenter
The only place to go for constantly perfect coffee. Love this place.

Amazing! Equal top first for best coffee in AKL! 10/10 will drink again.!
Simon Liang
Great coffee - strongly recommended, and food was great too. But just the matter kitchen was little slower than we expected.
Anna Boardman
Lovely atmosphere, great service, yummy food and of course the best coffee!
Amelia Dutch
Wonderful coffee house and atmosphere. I was extremely excited to find this shop and the way they do coffee. This is the first place in Auckland I have found that do a good light roast. Not to mention the great variety of single orgins! Knowledgeable, friendly staff. I have found what I have been missing from home. Thank you Coffee Lab, I will be back soon!
Preeti Chandra
Best Coffee on the shore...and the best selection of savoury food.
Sarah Rickards
Best coffee!!! So rich and full flavour. Has beaten All Press as my favourite blend. Good food too.
Emma Pollard
Best coffee in the world!!! Plus the best people behind the scenes!!! TOP QUALITY!!!!

Another place we visit regularly, awesome coffee and food

Had a lovely coffee and meal this afternoon. Staffs were friendly. Food was great as well. Would like to come back for sweet next time!

This is my regular Saturday haunt with the gym lot after a sesh.<br/>The service is spot on, the Coffees are perfect<br/><br/>And have a Bacon Butty, ok it's not healthy but its damn good :)

Open Style Omelette @ Coffee Lab 🥰<br/>They have other flavours, but my fav is the salmon and cream cheese. Of course, everyone has different preferences when it comes to omelettes, but I reckon anyone would like this one. The way the sauce complements the salmon and the egg... The proportion of everything is just right so the tastes don't clash... Just thinking about it makes me And look at the bear and elephant... My kids ( 3 year old twins) absolutely love this place! I have to be honest, I haven't tried the kids hot chocolate myself, but the kids loved it. Keeping the kids entertained while I sip on my coffee 🤣

Saturday morning trip about 9am or so saw it being quite busy but we managed to get a table in the outer room. Good service. It took some time for our coffees to arrive but waitress very friendly and apologetic. Food was awesome. We had an open style omelette and creamy mushroom eggs benedict.
Anastasia Matiatos
Coffee Lab damn, it's average. Been here recently for an iced mocha an the service was lackin. Waited wayyyyyy too long for my drink and it just sat on the bench so I had to go up and ask for it :(((. The iced mocha was alright not amazing but not shit, will be back as the food looks alright. Recently came back and the service was much better and quicker and my Iced Mocha was good good. Came back again for an iced mocha and she was pretty damn good good. x

☕️My best friend and I are coffee lovers and we always recommend great cafes to each other and go there together if possible. This time she tried Coffee Lab before and was impressed by their seasonal offers of different beans so we went there for our afternoon relaxing.<br/>☕️I ordered a long black of caramel taste with a coconut finish bean while my friend had cappuccino. We both enjoyed our coffee and great talking that afternoon.

This is an amazing place, the smoothies are delicious, and they do a fantastic bacon butty. Would recommend this place to anyone wanting to have a nice breakfast out.

Top of the line coffee - but you have to travel for it. This is quite possibly the best tasting coffee in Auckland although you’ll have to wait in line to order it as this place is always packed. If I lived near here I’d come everyday.
Steve Hall
Been out trying eggs Benedict around Auckland trying to find best one, this one was good and came with a wasabi mayo smear on plate which was good, I’m<br/>Not a coffee drinker but this place is very popular for coffee by the looks and sounds of things , enjoyed my eggs Benedict and would go back
Judy Hu
Just want to say, don’t order the omelet!!!!! The omelet will not be something you would expect. Totally different from the omelet in my knowledge, basically just a fried egg pancake with stuff on it. The cook fried it too long so the egg does not even taste good. The amount is tiny compare to $18 of the price. <br/>The coffee is alright as I’m not really a super fan of coffee.
Jeannette Salim
I was pleasantly surprised when I came across this cafe, it has a very nice ambience. The mocha was great and it's a good place to study / catch up.

HORRIBLE SERVICE AND COFFEE. Had arrived to order and wasnt greeted at all, the people behind me got a hello and got offered a menu. When my coffee was made they just put it on the counter and didnt call out to say it was mine, after waiting for over a couple of minutes another waiter came over to ask if that was my coffee. My toasted bagel was ok but again once toasted it was just left on the counter for awhile before another staff member noticed it was on the counter, asked who ordered the bagel to the girl behind the counter (been there the whole time) and she just pointed to me. I grabbed my bagel and said thanks before walking out but the attitude of the staff was disgusting to say the least!

Flat white was awesome. The blueberry muffin was slightly chewy but decent. Baristas were friendly. Will come back again for the coffee. Cabinet food needs a little love.

I was very high expectation for their coffee because the reviews. I was not sure I should wait table or not to order. We were lucky the cafe was not so busy, but no one greeting to us when we entered the cafe . I didn't know what to do, so my friend was waiting at table, and I was waiting to order at counter. There were many staff around, 2 were front of espresso machine, and 2 or 3 inside counter just front of me, but no one said anything to me. I was a invisible. I said "I want to order"  to there staff, one of them said "OK" finally. I was standing there 4 or 5 min before order.... no one said anything. Is this cafe normally like this? <br/><br/>After while waiting, I got flat while and my friend had Mocha. Both looks nice, but when I had first mouth, I was surprise. Why the coffee was not hot????? I could drink the flat white in 2 second. It was lukewarm. I am sure barista knew coffee, but because of this terrible temperature, I was not enjoy at all. My friend’s mocha also lukewarm. I will not pay $5 for small cup luke warm flat white. We are very disappointment. I knew some cafes in north shore more friendly customer service and good hot flat white they make. I will not coming back.

Ordered the honey smoked salmon for $20, got a tiny amount of salmon hidden in some salad. Still felt very hungry afterwards. The salmon also didn't taste like it had been honey smoked, just had beetroot flavour. The very piece of bread it came with also had rock hard crust. <br/><br/>According to friends the coffee here is excellent, but I definitely won't be back for food.<br/><br/>Edit: I deleted my previous review as I thought to sort it out with the owners, however ignored my follow up email on this. The service here is also poor, I found the waitress was very rude (I also used to work as a waitress, so understand what level of customer service to give.) I have been to many other cafes on the North Shore, all of which were better than coffee lab.
Zoe Zhu
A nice little cafe tucked away in Wairau, yet exceptionally busy!<br/>I ordered the Brioche French Toast which was delicious, but my mum ordered the Middle Eastern which was somewhat underwhelming. <br/>Very good coffee though, that was pleasing!<br/>I would recommend that you avoid visiting during peak hours on a weekend as the cafe becomes quite packed and difficult to move around in. <br/>Otherwise, a good experience - thank you to the staff!

It may sound cliché, but I'd consider Coffee Lab as a hidden gem. This cafe was highly recommended by a coffee connoisseur friend.<br/><br/>Just by stepping in to Coffee Lab gives you the homey, welcoming feels. Not forgetting the smell of roasted coffee (especially in the morning) as part of the cafe experience.<br/><br/>They have their café in front and their roastery at the back where there have more tables and chairs. Great café for catch ups!<br/><br/>Be warned that you'll fall in love with their coffee and will be back for more.<br/><br/>If you love coffee, you'd probably have heard of the Coffee Lab. If not, I highly recommend this cafe.<br/><br/>P/S: Coffee lovers who aren't on the Shore and don't want to travel, they sell their roasted beans and coffee equipment /tools on their website - www.coffeelab.co.nz (no they didn't pay me to post this. I'm just a convert after my first visit; seeing the passion and close knitted culture amongst their staff) Bravo to the team at Coffee Lab!! 🙌<br/><br/>P/S/S: Why a 4/5 and not a perfect 5? I'll be back to judge on the food.😉
Auckland Foodie
Very good coffee and such nice latte art. The roastery is right next to the cafe. You can buy some of their coffee and when I ordered I even got asked which country of origin I wanted the coffee to be from.
Kelly Tate
Had the most incredible Acai bowl + coffee I've ever had today! Friendly staff and quick service. Hidden gem for sure! Will definitely be back

Hands down some of the best coffee on the shore!!! They don't win awards for nothing... but seriously give it a try you will be very grateful you did... <br/><br/>And did I mention they do food too, really good food 😊<br/><br/>Great service too, always a friendly face ready to help you with your caffeine fix.

Great Coffee-Bring back the old chef!<br/><br/>I would have happily given Coffee Lab a 5 star a couple of years back.<br/><br/>Nice kind of relaxed industrial look.<br/><br/>I have been here many many times.<br/><br/>Coffee is the best, whether for one cup or for a bag for the machine-extensive range is an understatement.<br/><br/>Staff are great.<br/><br/>Food is where they no longer get a 5 star.<br/><br/>The breakfasts they used to do there were amazing the sauces, the ingredients, presentation spot on.<br/><br/>About 18 months ago the chef disappeared and sadly so did the best breakfasts on the shore.<br/><br/>I did try a few to give them a fair chance-disappointed unfortunately.<br/><br/>Watery sauces and ingredients had dropped a grade or two?<br/><br/>It’s not all doom and gloom the cabinet is great for baked food.<br/><br/>A great spot -but bring back that chef guys.<br/>

One of the best coffee I’ve had in Auckland. Their dessert is also very nice.<br/>Can get pretty busy on the weekend despite its awkward location.<br/>The decor is mostly ok with a strong emphasis on coffee culture, but the open kitchen and counter is a bit messy.<br/>Place is far from my home so I don’t tend to come here for breakfast but if I’m around I wouldn’t mind dropping by for a coffee.
Mandarint
We visited this place for the 2nd time as we had amazing coffee and food on our 1st visit. But the service wasn’t pleasant at all when we came back. We sat outside but nobody came to take our order for like 10 mins though a staff at the counter said they will. Decided to order at the counter, and the staff asked me “what do you want?”. Not a phrase I’d use to customers. We sat inside to avoid any more uncomfortable service. My friend’s drink arrived, and food shortly after. Still waiting for my drink while my friend’s food getting cold. About 5 mins later I went to the counter to ask if my drink order went through and a staff told me “it’s there” with grumpy face pointing to their work station.. The food was great like last time.
Bambi
These people know how to make a seriously good coffee. Only downside is that I haven't seen a cafe in North Shore that charges $6+ for a cup of latte. I understand they serve amazing coffee, but I could easily get good coffee from couple of cafes within North Shore. Tried few things on their menu too, but wasn't too impressed. Place to visit for a good cup of coffee.

Went here for brunch on Saturday and it was fantastic! It was very busy but the service and food were still prompt. The coffee is one of the best I’ve had, you can choose which beans you would prefer - I had the Kenyan roast which was very smooth👌 the food from the new chef was delicious, a good generous portion size and strong flavours. We shared an espresso cheesecake for a treat afterwards - so creamy and not too rich. Highly recommend Coffee Lab we’ll be back next week! 😍☕️
Julie Pulie
Fantastic coffee. My friend has a shop across the parking, so we popped over. Had a yummy mushroom scone. And barista was very obliging (I brought my own mug) I take a double shot Americano with a sugar and cold milk, which seems to cause no end of troubles to some. This barista even heated my cup so that the cold milk wouldn't make it too cool! Needless to say that I was pleased and will be back when I'm near
Sol
Excellent service from staff, Hana was very friendly and great at making coffee. I would recommend coffee lab to anyone looking for amazing coffee.
Raymond Tiong
Went here with Mum on a stormy Saturday for lunch and we mostly enjoyed our experience. As the name would suggest, this place is known for good coffee – so expect to pay a premium on their drinks. On this visit, I opted for a mocha, which was nice but nothing to rave about.<br/><br/>Food-wise, I liked my Big Lab Breakfast. The portion was big and I found the cream mushrooms, bacon, and sausage particularly tasty. However, the eggs were not as moist as I would've liked and the hash brown lacked a certain crunch and crispiness that would’ve rounded out the meal.<br/><br/>Mum ordered the omelette with parmesan and field mushrooms. The portion was impressive but the salad dressing was too sour.<br/><br/>Despite a few small flaws, I’d be happy to give the Coffee Lab another go. The service was generally pretty good and I appreciate staff who are sensitive enough to turn down the music when the crowds turn up to this busy café.
Rina
I frequent coffee lab a fair bit to check out their ever-changing cabinet desserts. It's always super busy over the weekend and some times have to park near the gymnasium. A bit inconvenient if it's raining. Nevertheless, I enjoy having coffee at a place where they explain what kind of beans they're using - shows they really care!<br/><br/>Flat white & golden latte<br/>The coffee is usually interesting, as they rotate the beans they use for white coffees. Fantastic place to go on the weekend for some variety! The golden latte was pretty average - though really, how delicious can a golden latte be? 🤔<br/><br/>Plum tart & some kind of raisin layered pastry<br/><br/>It was a while ago so I don't remember exactly what these items were, but the plum tart was wonderful with the juicy plums, soft tart filling and moderate base, and caramelised and topped with crispy almond slices. The pastry was far less exciting in comparison. Probably would have been better if it had been heated more I thought. To play it safe, just get a tart. They're always good!<br/><br/>Pear and raspberry torte (09.17)<br/>The complementary poached pear and raspberry flavors remind me that despite the grey skies, spring is upon us. Absolutely enjoyed this torte and 10/10 would have it again!<br/><br/>Coffee cheesecake (09.17)<br/>This is a dense cheesecake, with delicious coffee flavor throughout. However it wasn't overly cheesy or creamy, and we had the entire slice (which is quite large) without feeling sick at all! A nice addition would be some kind of coffee cream/mascarpone or similar light and airy accompaniment<br/><br/>Saturday 9 September's coffee looks supreme but the milk was burnt, and despite how wonderful the beans smelled (even from outside the cafe), I didn't like the flavor at all. Maybe partially influenced by burnt milk.
Yrjo Luigi Partosa Galvez
Best coffee in town! Wide wide range of single origin coffee for coffee connoisseurs out there. Just tell what coffee you want and the baristas will choose the best one for you or you can choose your own. <br/><br/>Also ordered the brekkie and it was by far the most satisfying brunch I've had in a long time. <br/><br/>All in all highly recommended brunch spot!
Mark
▪️Friendly service <br/>▪️Open & Spacious <br/>Great coffee always .Staff always happy to advice and discuss the types of coffee they have to offer.<br/>Even they roast on site so you can see the action while you enjoy your coffee.the only complain i have though for not having loyalty cards.worth to try if you are coffee geek.
Angela (A Style Collector)
Been here a couple of times and I've always enjoyed the coffee. This place can get really busy in the weekend but come early and you'll be able to get a table. The service is pretty good but sometimes the food may take a while. I've tried the Chicken served with portobello mushrooms, tomatoes and potatoes and they were good. Also had the bacon butty.
I_like_pickles
Enjoyed my hot chocolate here. Nice cafe.<br/>Friendly service and was pretty quick too.<br/><br/>I like the set up and the furniture. Don't really have much more to say.
Meghan Kerr-Phillips
If you are a coffee coniseur and you haven't tried this place, you have to. The coffee is fantastic. Food was delightful on the whole. Our table got the pancakes, bacon butty , omelet and But with smiles all round. They use the maple smoked bacon which always give a it a distinct flavor. The pancakes looked beautiful with the berries and eat able flowers. The negatives were that the service was slightly slow. It was in peak time, but cafes should be prepared for that. And the banana on the pancakes was slightly unripe. Still blown away by the coffee, will. Be back again
Jessica
This place is a secret find, hidden away and not that much advertised. But you defiantly need to come here! I had the French toast with bacon maple & banana and a banana smoothie. 10/10, wish I took a photo of my meal cause it was so pretty! Super busy though so you'll be lucky to get a table but it's worth the wait for sure. Service was fine for being a very busy place. Lots of people getting takeaway coffees. So if your a coffee lover, even come here to get a takeaway and a little snack to bring back home if you can't get a table.
Brett
Went here this morning for a take away coffee. The girl who served me was nice enough, didn't have to wait too long. When my coffee was ready, my name was called by the barista in a 'couldn't be bothered' voice with no eye contact and not even a hint of a smile when I collected my coffee. <br/>Coffee was fantastic but seriously with attitude like that I find it hard to return
Harry Collis
:) dope coffee. <br/>

Hats off for serving great coffee! Lemon ricotta pancake was too sweet for me & pricey ($18) but what irked me was the below par service...got asked twice if I am done with my food (my cup was half full and so was my pancakes) ...the staff wasnt looking at me when she asked and was very blunt and cold "have you finished eating?" I turned around and saw a few empty tables... so why the attitude? Will be back but only for coffee takeaway.
Alysha Bower
I went here with my partner on Saturday for Brunch. We are always trying to find new places to try and stumbled upon this little cafe. From the outside it doesn't look very big but there is plenty of seating! It is decorated with all things coffee too as they roast their own beans on site. <br/><br/>You order at the counter and there is plenty to choose from. I got the French toast and my partner got their big breakfast. The food was AMAZING! I couldn't flaw a single thing, every element on the plate was delicious, my partner hates mushrooms and even he ate the creamy mushrooms on his plate! <br/><br/>The service is good too, everyone is really friendly and helpful. The only flaw is the cabinet food, we got a lemon tart, salted caramel slice and an oaty caramel slice to takeaway. The oaty caramel slice and lemon tart was really nice however the salted caramel slice didn't taste like caramel at all. I understand it's a raw slice but I have had a lot better. <br/><br/>I will definitely be returning and bringing as many people as I can. This cafe is really amazing I highly recommend you try it :)
Thegreeats
Great coffee!! Perhaps one of the best I've had but theres not much else that was amazing <br/>Menu looked ordinary, old interior, isolated location<br/>Had their orange and almond cake which was good however<br/>I'll come back for your top notch coffee and try one of your menus !<br/>Good service too :)
Darren Jay
Heard this place had amazing coffees, I was slightly disappointed with no almond milk or vanilla flavouring. Nothing special in comparison to Combie in Takapuna or Warawara Browns Bay
Hyerin Jo
Had a mochacchino. This cafe makes nice coffee in this area. Haven't tried a food but they have quiet good menu and cabinet as cafe. This place, recommendable if you are looking for some nice cafe in this area.
John Finkelde
I was taken here for lunch by a local and want to go back!<br/><br/>The corn fritters with avocado and sour cream were just the best. Fresh produce with distinct flavour.<br/><br/>Plus the long black I had was a 9 out of 10. Evidently they roast their beans on site and the coffee definitely reflected that attentIon to detail and interest in the end product.<br/><br/>Staff were frIendly and super helpful even offering an alternative way to have the corn fritters on my next visit!<br/><br/>Check it out, Coffee Lab won't disappoint.<br/><br/>
David Parussini
After having a mate bang on about this place and with a little time on my hands, I crossed the bridge this morning to check it out - the rating is based on the coffee and service, unfortunately having had breakfast earlier there was no room to try what looked like an appetizing but tight menu. First impressions, parking difficult (but lucky to get a spot right by the front entrance..) great aesthetic inside, lots of natural light in the main room; friendly service, offered a choice (with flavour descriptions) of two single origin beans or a blended option for my flat white order (had the blend) - which was perfectly formed and tasty. I'm not a coffee aficionado by any means, but do enjoy a good brew and this place is well worth a visit.
Daniel Kim
Can't emphasise enough. Excellent coffee, great service (a little smile from the girl at the counter would've beeb better).<br/>Smoked salmon salad was amazing too.<br/><br/>Just one thing, music was a little too loud making ppl to talk louder - creating a very noisy environment.
Vasco Kovačević
Nice local place. Staff is very nice ....Great coffee, great selection of beans. <br/> . Carpark at the NSES is great.<br/><br/>

Giving coffee lab a 5 for the actual coffee! We had a soy flat white and a normal flat white and they were both amazing, really well done and I am pretty picky with my coffee. <br/>Food was about a 4ish. We started off with two smoothies- berry and banana- which came relatively quick. The berry had mint mixed in with it which was a first for us but actually made the drink very fresh which I liked. <br/>We ordered an acai bowl and bacon eggs benedict, which also didn't take too long to come out. I really enjoyed my acai bowl which was surprisingly super filling. My boyfriend said the eggs benedict was awesome and the hollandaise sauce was creamy and smooth. Both meals were decent but didn't have the wow factor. <br/>Service was okay! Staff were friendly but not super attentive. <br/>The location is really unique, tucked in behind a load of industrial buildings and the North shore events centre. Super busy place as well which created a nice atmosphere- gotta be quick with finding seats. <br/>

$4 for a small bliss ball?! And an average one at that....coffee was ok, nothing spectacular like I've been told but the unfriendly service really got me. It wasn't even busy so no excuses....
Alysha
Ordered a Soy Mocha and a handful of Blueberry/chocolate bliss balls.<br/><br/>Coffee was fantastic just the right consistency between choc and coffee and couldn't seem to put it down!<br/><br/>Bliss balls were A-MAZ-ZING - i'd brought them for my morning tea snack but they were pretty much all gone by the time  I even got to work. They weren't too dry or crumbly so i didn't end up with coconut all over me. A bit pricey as 1x Soy Mocha and 6x bliss balls came to $31 - but they were definitely worth it as a yummy treat!
Helen Gyde
Good coffee, average service nice food, but the food apart from the biscuits and muffins comes at a hefty price. Would recommend for a coffee but just wouldn't eat there due to the horrific prices!
Fjlcole
I love Coffee Lab. It has a great vibe with good music that doesn't sound like you should be on a dance floor. The coffee is excellent and food pretty good - could be a little more creative but it always tastes good. Lovely people who treat you as potential friends. And did I mention sunshine? Coffee Lab is bathed in it inside and out. Awesome!
Tash Rawlinson
I bought a coffee and a slice of pecan pie. Pecan pie was nice but coffee was a bit bitter. This coffee shop had the 4th best barista in the world (no kidding) but unfortunately I think she works weekdays so I had another Barista. Interested to go back and try hers though! Cool little cafe as well! I will be going back to this cafe
Rachelle Payne
Best coffee on the North Shore without a doubt!! They have yummy freshly made food and the service is outstanding, have always been greeted with a friendly smile and always feel really welcome :)

Absolutely love this place. Great coffee and the eggs Benedict is spot on. Definitely our favourite place. Just wish you'd do Sunday mornings... Please??? :-)

As I live in the area, I often come by this place for breakfast. I didnt know this place was famous for its coffee when I first visited it. I just found out after few visits later, and also always managed to forgot to take pics! So finally i remember although today's visit was only for the oh so good flat white and a slice of peppermint cake (not outstanding, a bit too sweet for me). Would prefer their other meals. Really like the pancakes and the omelette is marvellous too! Oh and great service which is a deal breaker for me.

The wife and I thought it would be a treat to have a quiet breakfast without the kids. We chose The Coffee Lab because of the reviews we've read being the best coffee on the North Shore.<br/><br/>The coffee was good.It had the right texture and temperature. We both just had flat whites. <br/><br/>The food was ok. I had the Bacon Butty and the wife had the Avo Bruschetta. They were presented nicely. It was edible.<br/><br/>What killed the experience for us at the Coffee Lab was the service.<br/><br/>The reviews we read were about being treated to a wonderful coffee experience with the help of really friendly staff select your coffee. <br/><br/>Unfortunately, that service was not on the menu that day.<br/>

Thought it was time to get on the healthy train again so went to Coffee Lab to try the new ACAI BOWL with fresh blueberries and banana, it was delicious! Sugar and dairy free which is perfect was served nice and chilled and is a generous helping of food to start the day, I highly recommend if you are after something healthy and filling!
Love The Experience, Love The Brand.
I go out of my way for Coffee like this.  This is my 3rd space.  When relaxing and letting time go by, there is nothing better then having coffees here.<br/>The coffee is so nice, I have to have three types - espresso then flat white followed by a V60.  Then you can walk away is a personalised bag of ground coffee for what ever toy you need an excuse to use!<br/><br/>Food is good, but never why I go here.  These people are the scientists of the coffee world around Auckland.

Although they are popular for their coffees, my favourite thing on the menu has to be the omelette! The blue cheese and mushroom omelette is one of the best I've ever tried.<br/><br/>Friendly service, quick to serve food and in a nice quiet location. Would be better with more carparks though.

We heard this place had won an award for its coffee, roasted on site. 2 flat whites later we agree and think Coffee Lab has rightfully earned the trophies that adorn the walls. We ordered the Sweetcorn Fritters, knowing this dish is hit and miss at most cafes. The fritters themselves are just like any other cafe - a bit dry and chewy with no where near enough corn. However, the hollandaise, chutney and avocado were nice additions, as was the bacon and spinach, leading to an overall pleasant dish. Service is friendly, decor is light and fresh and ambience is buzzy without being overcrowded. Overall a good pick me up for a Saturday morning. Next time we'll go for some cabinet good as it all looked amazing, and there will be a next time, the coffee has us hooked.

We have breakfast here often because the food and coffee are great and good value for money. staff are friendly and we can't fault it. Nice touch that you can get sparkling water on tap. Would have to be one of the best on the Shore.

Totally recommend, coffee perfect, muffins delicious, staff ultra friendly and I was only waiting for take outs! Menu looked good so I will be back for sampling. <br/><br/>Bathroom was really clean.<br/><br/>Thanks Coffee Lab.<br/><br/>Since my first visit, I have been back 4 times! Coffee perfect each time, and the food I have ordered, was delicious and served promptly, I have taken a different friend each time and they rated the lab as a 5.<br/>The waiting staff have been friendly and helpful.<br/><br/>The bathroom has been really clean each visit. <br/><br/>Thanks.

I was working my way through the Metro Top 50 Cafes... these guys were on the mentions for amazing coffee.. but didn't make the list because they are roasters! <br/>Anyways, once I stopped here for a smooth velvety cup of java, my mission to get through the top 50 list came to halt.<br/>The staff are awesome and friendly, the coffee is the best I've had in Auckland, and I've seen my future in the cappuccino foam. <br/>I love this place! <br/>:)

Well where to start. Imagine this... You're walking along a beach, a beautiful summer evening. The temperature is just right, the tides softly rolling in and the sun is just dipping bellow the horizon. You turn to your loved one and say "This moment is perfect" <br/><br/>This is what coffee lab is like. The taste of the Coffee Lab coffee brings all of these emotions to the surface, creating a symphony of flavour that tickles the fine buds on your tongue. The chocolate aftertaste of the Cupids Arrow bean makes for the perfect vice on a cold day. A helpful winning attitude of the staff just top it all off, and you have possibly the best cafe, with the best coffee in Auckland.

I like my coffee, and I've now found where to get it from, Coffee Lab!<br/>Service can be a little slow at times, but the staff more than make up for it in friendly service. Also there knowledge about coffee is outstanding, I learnt a lot and started to get my head around the little differences in coffee, I think I'm becoming a coffee geek! Help!<br/>My only issue was my french toast was more about the bacon than about the french toast. I love bacon with my french toast, but I felt like there was too much.<br/>Other than that I loved it, 10 out of 10 Coffee Lab, I'll be seeing you again!

Went on purpose to the Coffee Lab yesterday looking for one of the best "espresso" available in Auckland and found what I was looking for. The Ethiopian one was outstanding. I had a chat with Roberto, the owner. He knows what a good coffee must be. Will go back there, sure thing. Federico

Best coffee and food on the north shore I say! Only place I have been to for a very long time that consistently excels with their food and coffee, and the staff are a relaxed and friendly bunch who are always good for a chat. <br/><br/>The flat whites and cheese scones are to die for! <br/><br/>Well done Coffee Lab!

The Coffee Lab is probably the best coffee roaster in NZ, certainly Auckland. A single-origin master! Always a delight and a pleasure to call and see what is newly roasted. The Costa Rica La Minita is a hard one to beat!

Found this little gem by accident today!<br/>Fantastic, beautiful coffee but service &amp; counter food need a bit of attention. <br/>Our coffee was prompt &amp; delicious. <br/>We decided to order a couple of scones to take away with us &amp; I stood at the counter for a good 5 minutes waiting for someone to serve me...both guys walking back and forward but not acknowledging me. Finally one asked me if I was being served. I asked for a date &amp; cheese scone to take away. I asked for them to be buttered &amp; was given a bag with butter but no knife. <br/>I know purists will think I'm pedantic but if you ask for a buttered scone, I think the scone should be buttered. I had to stand at the counter cut &amp; butter my scone my self (making a lot of mess, and feeling completely awkward). <br/>The scones were only average after all that, dry &amp; crumbly.<br/>Shame because I would of highly rated the cafe before this.<br/>Great little venue, nice atmosphere &amp; environment.

A great little cafe hidden away in the industrial part of Glenfield. It's a shame because they focus on making good coffee. I come here once in a while after work when I'm in the area, I'm addicted to their flat whites and the quiet surroundings. Guy at the front is cheerful and friendly but a few of the wait staff are a bit glum looking. Overall, awesome place and worth the drive over.

Without turning this into a he said she said comment page. <br/>If someone turns up to a roastery cafe and expects it to be completely child friendly, they are kidding themselves. Just because a nearby child friendly cafe is full, doesn't mean that you can expect another cafe to uphold the same standards around children friendliness. <br/><br/>My wife was at the cafe on this day where allegations were stated. She came back home and was horrified at the lack of caution shown at the children in question by the mother herself. She also mention that the staff were very calm in dealing with the situation and were very tolerant. In her words 'I nearly had a go at her myself'. <br/><br/>This cafe has established itself as a place where coffee geeks can congregate and expect to receive a wider range of coffee than anywhere else on the Shore. Ben and the team provide this and more. Being more than happy to explain, in detail, all the nitty gritty parts that help create the coffees they are showcasing. <br/><br/>Hand in hand with this comes the food. Amongst a private function and many Saturday morning brunches. They food here is so, so good. My favourite breakfast spot. Make sure you get Ben to rustle you up a single origin coffee when you visit Coffee Lab. He's the guy with tattoos. <br/><br/>If you want soft toys, cars, Lego and a staff member to babysit. Go to Columbus.

Best coffee in NZ hands down. They have various high quality specialty beans for sale, these are also served by the cup which I thought was great to be able to choose which specific coffee beans you want to drink. Food is very nice, with friendly, hospitable staff and a relaxed atmosphere.<br/><br/>Definitely a must for Coffee and Cafe lovers :-)

I was introduced to coffee by a friend and still cannot drink it by the gallon, however, I sat and had two cups in one hour at Coffee Lab and loved them!! The place has an amazing atmosphere... Sophisticated and fun. <br/>The day I was in the Coffee Lab and I was really impressed to see the staff and management mingling with the customers. As for not being "child friendly" I don't think that's quite true. The morning I had breakfast (pancakes = delish!!) there was a group of mothers with their children. I am a teacher and the school holidays are not a time where I want to sit and watch an under 4-year old ride their bike in the car park with cars in and out every minute. I was impressed and relieved when management calmly and spoke to the mothers. They created no drama and I was left to enjoy my yummy coffee and breakfast! Very well handled Coffee Lab! I will be back as often as I can make it!! :)

This cafe is one of my favourites. The staff are always friendly and there to help. Ben always makes amazing coffees! <br/>The review from Soriya E, is totally not fair. I was there when her coffee group was there. I personally see the cafe as a place to take children, but not children who will ride a bike out in the car park, with the mother saying it is ok for him to be there and almost get hit by a car, still allowing him to be there, have a child climb on chairs, which hit another customer and luckily stopped the kid from falling and hurting themselves. It was very hard as a customer, who was there to have a nice catch up with a friend, to watch all that happen, and I know that staff only approached her after a long time, when they could tell that other customers experience was being tarnished and the safety of the children were at risk. The other children in the coffee group were perfect and they wouldnt have been asked to leave.

Most enjoyable.<br/>Extraordinary coffee, in particular the Costa Rica La Minita.<br/>The food of a high standard. Generous proportions and nicely plated.<br/>Coffee, food and service excellent. I highly recommend Coffee Lab.

Food and coffee were ok, but the service was quite bad. Wouldn't recommend anyone with kids to visit this place, as we were approached by staff that it was not appropriate to bring our kids here.<br/><br/>UPDATE (10 Oct):<br/>Just to clarify, we did not turn up expecting soft toys or lego just standard cafe service, as we were having a meeting (not a social chit chat) – were did not plan to go to Coffee Lab, we actually planned to go to the (child friendly) cafe opposite – which happened to be closed.<br/><br/>I'm not sure what 'allegations' Simon L. is referring to. It's an actual fact that we were approached and that we felt we weren't welcome with children. Yes, there was a child who needed more supervision. If staff have a problem with the behaviour of a child, they should approach the parent of that child at that moment, not just as we are all about to leave, and make a generalised comment about children at the cafe (the rest of them were seated quietly or asleep!).<br/><br/>I have no complaints about the coffee, just the way we were treated. Interesting to see the correspondence, I didn't realise I hit a soft spot with all the fans.
Cafe Puff
No doubt, best coffee in New Zealand.<br/>They use always fresh coffee bean and the best barista serve high quality coffee all time.<br/>I havn't had any food there, so I can't mention about food but coffee, highly recommend.
