Review The Gipsy Moth - Auckland

Great food and service. I ordered the seafood chowder and was pleasantly surprised at how tasty and the amount of seafood in the chowder. Considering that everywhere else in domestic terminal is circa this price but less food/preparation. It was perfect for a winters day and I didn’t wait long either. The barista was also lovely and makes a good recommendation. In the past I’ve had coffee here and I’m always happy at the taste and value

First time in a long time I've ordered multiple meals and coffees without having to repeat myself. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Was told there would be a 10 minute wait for coffees. Breakfast and coffees arrived within about 15 minutes even though they were quite busy. Pilots breakfast was absolutely delicious, best scrambled eggs I've had in a long time and the smashed avo on sourdough had a really good amount of avocado. Will definitely make this my go to when I'm traveling through. The staff here do a great job and are a credit to this cafe.

My family came in a couple days ago and had the best waitress ! She was patient when taking our orders, was very polite with such great manners. Margaret is the best waitress we’ve encountered. Thanks to her we’ll be back.

On arrival, staff took a few minutes to serve however is understandable given it was early morning during their busy time. Coffee was good and the eggs Benedict I ordered was ok & the waitress who served was pleasant. The plate, although quirky and stylish had a very high lip and was difficult to eat out of unless you were using your hands! Overall a good experience but wonder if anyone else found the plates inconvenient.

Was pleasantly surprised! I don’t usually expect decent coffee or food at the airport but came in this morning in need of coffee. The girls serving were absolutely lovely and cheerful even though it was painfully early. My coffee was perfect and my sourdough and smashed avo was spot on! Stoked to have found somewhere I like while waiting for flights! Thanks!

Wonderful caring waitress Margaret. Traveling alone as we age can be a little daunting but Margaret demonstrated understanding to a level I have never before encountered. She is a treasure in the catering business and has a great future ahead!

My clients and I were very pleased with the performance of our waitress Margaret and her consistent positivity she brought to our evening 😊 The prawn dumplings and Prawn Croquette's are a MUST try! 5 stars!!!

Stopped in while waiting for our flight, nice to see a decent establishment instead of fast food outlets. Service staff were great, smiling and friendly. Food was great and did not take too long to come out. Over all great atmosphere, perfect to place to relax before embarking on holiday.

Super cute set up and scrumbo coffee, also think that it is the only coffee place that does both ice coffees and alternative milks in the domestic terminal. The girls were also really friendly. They all seem to get on great with one another as well as the kitchen staff. It might just be because the girls are young but they're a little unprofessional when not with customers, dancing, laughing loudly and stomping etc.

Pleasant staff, lovely cold Heineken and an iced coffee for $18.50 so not over the top pricing either. Cool music piped in the background provided a nice relaxed atmosphere to sit and have a pre flight drink

A great spot to relax during your flight wait. The latte, though served in a glass, was too hot to grip. The staff is friendly, although the service is a tad slow.

Awesome addition to Auckland Airport and a much needed, we’ll polished café! The brightly lit space at Gipsy Moth is well lit and inviting without being a cavernous food court. Nice architecture division of the space also ensures you get a bit of privacy as you enjoy a beer while you wait. Food offering a worth their money, with a classic breakdown of breakfast from bacon and eggs to croissants and pastries. The coffee will do; unfortunately good ingredients are put in untrained hands at the coffee machine. Gipsy Moth also has a good selection of alcohol, with decent NZ wines and more mainstream beers. This makes for passing the time easier, whether hanging with travelling companions or sitting at a side bar and watching some sport. Go here if you have time on your hands, and enjoy Auckland Airport’s only worthwhile café!

It’s been awhile since I traveled domestically so it was my first time at The Gipsy Moth. The cafe was clean, the service was good, and the coffee wasn’t bad. Would like to come back and try their food next time.
