Review Spicy House Chinese Takeaway - Auckland

Frallalalalah!
AMAZING! The place was fully packed on a Saturday dinner but the staff were all friendly, helpful and efficient. The food came in quick and we were blown away Pork Hock- succulent, moist and flavorful! My young son loved this so much! Chili Chicken- my partner loved this! Deep Fried Tofu with sweet and sour- could be crunchier but still great Deep Fried Squid- delectable, spicy and just yum!! Our price range was higher all because we ordered a lot and basically took away a lot home too. Our kid just planned that his dad's birthday will be happening here. Definitely a must try and we are coming back soon (maybe next week 😆)..

Big portion, really tasty. Food came out really quick. Nice service, would go back.

This restaurant is always packed but still staff will be friendly. If you are in mood to eat extreme spicy then definitely for chicken in spicy sauce and Chili Chicken. Further if you are visiting for first time, Please ask of the menu with food photos which will help you to choose a right dish.

Went for dinner and the food and service at Spicy house was amazing. Ordered 3 of their top 10 dishes, Chili chicken, Spicy squid and Pork and Cabbage and all 3 were cooked to perfection. Highly recommend if you are looking for spicy Chinese dishes. Staff were attentive and made sure our experience was pleasant. 5 star rating.

Hot Chili Chicken and Green Tea. The name says it all. Great for a group of 2-4 people as it is a tight space. Debit or Cash only.

Had the Chilli Chicken while dining alone. The Chilli Chicken was great but somewhat dry on its own, this makes it less attractive for someone dining alone unless you are prepared to order other dishes to even out that dryness and then take the excess food home in a takeaway container. Chilli Chicken is excellent for a group because the group can afford to order other, more moist dishes to provide an overall more balanced meal.

The flavor is different from last few times. Not spicy enough and seasoning is lighter. Still yummy. Also service is great and efficient. 4 stars because we order tofu but got fried tofu puff.
Chris Z
This place has the best spicy meals! Can't favour just a few, you got to try each whenever possible.

The popular chicken was not bad but definitely didn’t live up to the expectations. I feel like it was a bit dry and the seasoning wasn’t all too impressive. The pepper beef and fried rice was nice though. For the price point I can’t ask for more. Food came out really fast and service was good so overall not a bad cheap eat option on Dominion Rd.

Food is very tasty and authentic.

Love this place..not everything is spicy..favourite is pork knuckle!!

We always love to eat at Spicy house. What I noticed is the prices are becoming more expensive and serving is less. In 2012 the price of spicy intestine was only $13...now it is $22

the dishes we ordered chilli chicken ,fried rice now in medium size box used to be in humungous box.How much does rice cost???

This place is nicely decorated and the menu has a nice variety. Very attentive servers. I will be back again.

Good service at this location consistently. I usually only go through the drive through on my work lunch break.
Ishan Gajjar
Love the food. Good service.
Sahitya Anand
They didn't even bother to hide/cook the MSG crystals on the fish dish we got.
Fiona Lin
Nice attentive staff even at 3am, who look experienced at dealing with drunk customers. Their cumin beef on rice was decently portioned and quite delicious. Their wonton soup is not the usual light broth, but rather a dark seaweed broth which is an exciting change. They have some quite fair prices.
Patrick Kei
BEST mapo tofu in your life not to mention chilli chicken ooosshhhhh you can thank me later 😉
Chika Afiyanti-Tolat
Food maybe great as we've ordered few times from this place. But we went there on a Sunday and although the sign says open at 12 but they still didn't open after we waited until 1pm.. we could see a cook in the kitchen but they aren't bothered to come out to explain why they're not open. No other signs that says whether they're closed for a certain period

A Succulent Chinese Meal.<br/><br/>10/10<br/><br/>Will trade again.
Marianne Wullings
Dumplings were great. Fried rice was just steamed rice with chicken and egg, not fried rice at all.
Sophia
Ordered 麻婆豆腐 (Mapo Tofu) extra spicy, and being from Sichuan, ordering from the 'Spicey House' for the first time, I thought my tastebuds would be blown... BE WARNED!!! You may recieve tofu DRENCHED in colored water... NO spice whatsoever!! Messaged them thanking for their delivery, however no spice at all... their response was.. 'we already made it more spicy'!!! If only they could taste their dish or have a food critic critique their do called 麻婆豆腐。。they should be ashamed!! Not spicy at all, not even to western standards. Be aware for disappointment as they rejected the order to be remade. You're a joke, NOT AUTHENTIC!! would rate a zero if there was one.
Jade Lim
Good food, good service, well priced.<br/><br/>The signature spicy chicken is delicious, and so is their Red Cook Meat (is actually braises pork belly in a sweet, savour gravy). Ground beans with minced pork is also yum.<br/><br/>This place tends to get really busy, so either go early or in smaller groups. <br/><br/>Friendly and speedy service. Highly recommended and we’ll be back.

Great Food. We typically grab or eat put Chinese in Kingsland but wanted to try some different places. Spicy House was fast and also served great food. And able to feed a family of six for just over $100 which is pretty good compared to other places we've been to. Thanks to the staff there for making it a great experience. Will be back.

We come here quite often, such a small place but everyone doesnt mind lining up outside and waiting to get seats. I love how this place is open until very late, good place to visit too after a night out, great hangover food also. Food are flavourful and serving are big - good to share.
Dev Choudhury
One of the best Chinese eatery. Their chilly chicken fry and fried rice dishes are definitely popular. You will never be disappointed with the quantity. <br/>Wish they open a branch in North Shore.

If you want fantastic tasty food at 5pm or 2am that is cheap, cheerful and has generous portions - then this pl is a must try Dominion Road institution. It gets packed so you can wait for a table, get takeaway or delivery. All the food is delicious- my favs are the Fried chicken noodles, cashew chicken, dumplings, spicy squid, beans with pork mince & the fried white buns with condensed milk.
Lauren Jennett
Have not been in a long time.. used to be my favourite place.. staff don’t understand English and when we asked for mild the fried rice was not mild, also we got combination fried rice but it was bland with 3 bits of beef and a few bits of chicken! Disappointed and no where near as good as it used to be.. noticed the price has gone up too.
Ashan Shanitha Jayamuni
Busy all the time but the service is slow. And they dont even bring you water. Food is ok. Nothing that special.
Pyrièl Jack
As usual, spicy house absolutely knocks it out of the park.<br/>Even at an ungodly 3am, their chefs are still on point, and ready to cook you up some astoundingly good quality food.<br/>Their cold dishes are tart and tactful, their hot plates are wholesome and homely. Their fried rice dishes will fill that spot that you can't figure out what it needs in order to be filled, and their soups will tickle your taste buds like an old lover.<br/>Could not recommend more highly.
Andreea Simion
Feel like nothing else compares to spicy house. Definitely a classic. Only thing is their prices have gone up in the past couple of years, so place could do with a little renovation given that they’re so successful and busy all the time.
Arianaaa
good supper place!! Always busy and packed with people, their shop is rather small so waiting is inevitable. Their portion sizes are really good for sharing! Recently their food has become oilier than usual. But taste wise is kinda the same.
Chaun T
Spicy House is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Auckland. The food is great and affordable! Always served fresh and fast. The restaurant itself is small but everything flows fine.
Rahul Bannai
Best in the city for late night foodies. Although im a vegetarian their egg fried rice and veg momos are good. And price is also very reasonable.
Dessie S
We always come here for the deep fried intestines and spare rib in foil. Last night we had dinner with friends and noticed that the price has changed for the deep fried intestines. Used to be $22 but now it’s $29 and the serving was smaller. The taste has changed as well. Not as good as it used to. The cucumber salad is okay but not the best. I still like their dumplings though.
Lila Broome
Super quick service, we got the spicy chicken and spicy egg friend rice, both of these were so so tasty. Hugely recommend this place for a flavoursome cheap and cheerful meal!! Super good
Cathy
This is my favourite place to go in Balmoral! The prices are very reasonable, and their spicy and sour soup is to die for. It's got the perfect balance of chilli and vinegar, with a good amount of savoury flavour. I've had it both with lamb and with won tons, and it was amazing both times.
Vedika
I like this place. It is good. Not biggest fan of the spicy chicken but I know people love it. I love their chicken dumplings 🥟 and noodles 🍝. Service was good. AND IM IN LOVE WITH THE DRINKS THEY HAVE!!
Ben M
I love Spicy House! Been coming here for about 10 years. I love how it's small, basic & busy!<br/><br/>Open late every night and the food is so good - chilli chicken, fried rice, squid, spicy ribs, sweet and sour chicken, everything is great.<br/><br/>Try to miss peak dining times if you can cos its popular. Food usually comes out real quick.
MCP
A little nice restaurant on dominion rd, food always good and fresh, shop also well maintained and clean. Friendly staffs and quick service. Their chili chicken and combination fried rice is my personal favourite! Generous portion for the price

Been going to spicy house for almost 15 years now. Back when it had old managment and it was bought and sold a few times.<br/><br/>Went back last night with my partner after 6 months and I see that they have come out with a visual menu which is pretty cool, instead of their black and white takeaway menu. But prices aren't marked on there!<br/><br/>As usual we ordered the chilli chicken and chicken fried rice which is a must have if you visit here.<br/>Also ordered potato slices (hot)...not my thing but the other half enjoyed it.<br/><br/>Used to always get the won ton in sour and spicy soup from here. Its lovely. Full of flavour.<br/>Also the chicken in spicy sauce is awesome from here.<br/><br/>The prices have definitely increased. I remember those days where the fried rice was $8.<br/><br/>Staff are polite and friendly ✅<br/><br/>Cons : Way too much MSG used in their food, especially the fried rice...Its very sticky and hard but tasty at the same time ❌.<br/><br/>Overall : ⭐⭐⭐⭐<br/>Staff : ⭐⭐⭐⭐<br/>Price : ⭐⭐⭐<br/>Food : ⭐⭐⭐

I would definitely recommend Spicy House! My boyfriend and I have been coming here every week to have dinner. Service is quick, staff are friendly and food is yum. Even though the resturant is small inside but they have high turn over of tables and super busy! Worth it though
Michael Chinn
The spicy chicken is amazing. Perfectly cooked, just enough batter and spices. Also got the combination fried rice. The worst I’ve ever had. The rice is like the microwave rice from Countdown and the meat was completely unseasoned. Seems like hit and miss on their dishes. Choose wisely.
Mark Renz Ruiz
Don’t get me wrong, their food is nice. However, their popularity has made their service gone down. I made a booking on the phone only to find out that there is no table for us and to wait extra 10-15 minutes. This happened to my family twice already. If they don’t improve their booking service, I’m afraid they might start losing some customers.

Came here because we were craving for spicy food. This place was famous for its chilli chicken so we ordered that. It turned out to be pretty good. Not too oily, have a good spiciness level. It had the right amount of spiciness. Reasonably cheap and service was quite fast. We will be coming back to try other things.

Best cheap eats in auckland, except the hot and spicy intestine which is our favorite. I love their yangchow or fried rice. They are open after midnight so it’s a plus.<br/><br/>It is always packed at night, make sure you tell the staff that you are waiting for a table. I already ate here more than 10 times already, i’m coming back to try other dishes.
Vivian C
We got a table after waiting outside for around 10-15 minutes, there are only a few tables inside so make sure to avoid peak dining times.<br/><br/>We ordered the Chilli Chicken (辣子鸡), Pork & Chives Pan-Fried Dumplings (锅贴), Eggplants with Spicy Sauce (鱼香茄子), and Deep-Fried Tofu w/ Black Bean sauce (豉汁豆腐).<br/><br/>There is definitely a reason why everyone orders the Chilli Chicken. It is extremely addictive and something you will still continue to eat even after you’re full. I don’t think it’ll be possible for me to come back here and not order the chicken. The dumplings were good but nothing spectacular. The eggplants were different from the traditional dish as it used green eggplant and what tasted like sweet chilli sauce, so it wasn’t as good as the dish was supposed to be. We were a bit disappointed at the tofu as we did not expect "deep-fried tofu” to mean the hotpot tofu from a packet. <br/><br/>Overall, the chicken was definitely the saving grace out of all the things we ordered.
Timer
The restaurant must have changed hands. We were back for the first time after a couple years. We didn’t walk in a packed house nor long queue. The food was still pretty good. The place is much cleaner too.
Ronash
Can be a hit and miss, but the times that I have been it has been decent. Usual go to is the chicken fried rice, chilli chicken and dumplings and bonus is that they are open till late, so if you hit the booze can always rely on some spicy house.
Angelica Starina
Friendly staff! Great tasty food!! The woman who seems to be the owner of the place is just so friendly and nice. I’ve given it 4/5 stars just because its a little cramped there but that gives you an indication of how busy it is😉 thats how delicious and tasty their food is😍😍 my boyfriend doesn’t even like chinese cuisine but he’s always wanting spicy house!!!
Thomas
Food was authentic and delicious. We got the deep-fried squid and the chilli chicken (boneless) between myself and another friend (very filling). The squid dishes came out fairly quickly but the chilli chicken took an extra 10 minutes - though it came out sizzling hot and it certainly did not disappoint. 5/5 for taste but overall 4/5 just cause our squid dish got cold waiting for the chicken :(
Rud Ster
one word - OVER-RATED ! i had a big hope when i came to this place after i read all the reviews.. but what a LET DOWN that was. i ordered the famous chilli chicken and asked for extra spicy, didn't feel a thing. all i could taste was the chicken pieces were tender, that's about it. same with its fried rice - looks quite red but not hot and on the bland side. also ordered the fish which was actually taste a bit better than the rest. we also ordered the beef to take home too and it was the same, bland (beef was quite tender though). if you guys think the chilli chicken here is good, you should definitely try the chilli (spicy) chicken from Yuema Malaysian Rest in Albany - that will blow you away in terms of taste. if you want super tasty good portion fried rice, try momo tea in mt albert - they are on the next level compare to this place.

Good food, fast service. Could improve a bit on commuincation as most people there doesn’t tend to speak English well but manage to get tour order right all the time. Small and bit congested but the food is worthed. <br/>

spicy house is a oldy but goldy.<br/><br/>their spicy chicken dish is amazing. never fails to impress me. this place is ALWAYS busy and with reason. everyone loves some cheap delicious Asian food.
LuNa The TuNa
I used to came here once a week. They open till really late, i love to take away the spicy ribs. It's taste soooo good~ service always good, environment not big but clean.
Paul Sharp
BAD. I was given the wrong dish, then when I returned, instead of cooking me what I ordered, they just fried up some beef and mixed it in with the wrong dish, so I have a really oil thing I didn't want. Reading a couple of other reviews, I'm not the only person this has happened to. It's pretty poor way to treat customers really. Oh well, I hear New Flavour is good.
LiLi Bee
We come to spicy house regularly and always order chilli chicken with other random dishes. The seasoning on the chilli chicken can be inconsistent every time but it’s still damn good. The taste of msg never fails and is addictive. Prepare to drink a truck load of fluids. One time I got the shits from a prawn dish but that did not faze me, we keep coming back for more. Great stuff Spicy House.
Sandeep Chhetri
One of my fav place.. I like their service and politeness..<br/>And the taste is so yum...👍👍👍👍👍The food comes so fast which i like extremely. Overall the food and service is outstanding.<br/>
Angelique Cagara
If you've got a sweet tooth for spice for a decent price, Spicy House will be your vice ;) Their chili chicken is incredibly popular amongst many and is well sought after and comes in a reasonably large portion as it is for sharing (one of my go-tos). Their spicy combination fried noodles although on the greasy side, is very filling and delicious if you like a spicy kick. Their spicy squid is also highly recommended. Not for the faint hearted if you can't handle spice... but they also serve food without it - all you need to do is ask :-)
Sharon Zhu
Best beef noodle soup I've had in a long time the portion size is one hell of a unit 9/10 the only complaint I have is that the beef chunks are small and were almost all fat and no beef otherwise this is a banger for $11
Nakul Dalwala
Amazing food! place is bit small so you might have to wait on weekends eve, but the wait is worth. Service is super fast, easy on pocket and the food portion is enough for 2. Must visit
Sydney
Never disappointed with spicy house. Depending on the time you go, there can be a line out the door. I always get the chilli chicken and it is delicious! Only thing is the restaurant is quite small and not really ideal for large groups, I usually go with 2-3 people.
Larasawesome
Best tofu I’ve ever had, always crispy and full of flavour - spicy salt tofu. Great fried rice, lacking in vegetables but still a steal for the price and serving size. always get spicy if you can handle the heat.
Grace Sutherland
Best chilli chicken ever will never stop coming to this place! The service is extremely fast so great if you’re in a rush somewhere and all the food is so fresh and delicious! Huge fan of the green beans with pork mince as well!! Highly recommend this place
Oui.waranya17
The food was okay, not the best but not bad.<br/><br/>Cheap price, open till late. <br/><br/>I asked for some seasoning but the waitress said they don’t have, its a little disappointing.
Joey Lew
Amazing food and good service!! Super cheap as well, we ordered spicy egg fried rice, chicken pan fried dumplings and potato with beef brisket. All came to $36 for 2 people!! The serving size is very generous and even allowed us to take away the rest for tomorrow’s lunch. Would highly recommend this place on Dominion Rd👍🏽
Davinder Singh
I ordered Black bean chicken last night .its really disappointing when I open the box.<br/>I think I can make better then that...<br/>Waste my $16 .<br/><br/>
Utkarsh Anand Saxena
I really liked this place until today, when I ordered vege fried rice for delivery. They delivery guy delivered Chicken fried rice 1 hour after the order instead of veg rice that we ordered and over charged us. When I called the restaurant to inform about what had happened and asked for a refund. The restaurant staff and manager were super rude and unapologetic. They didn't want to accept their fault and kept uselessly arguing about how they can not be wrong. I tried to explain to them several times in several different ways but eventually gave up after 2 hours of banging my head against them.<br/><br/>Will never order or eat at this place again. Both, Their service and staff are bad and lack the basic understanding how business is done and how a customer complaint should be delt with.
Krystal-Jane Mosley
Seriously... the best chilli chicken in NZ!! <br/>Got one last night and it wasn’t quite right so told them about it and they stepped up their game again for today’s order. Great service! <br/>The braised pork hock is huge and very yummy too!
Luu Queen
Food is cheap. Taste is not bad but pretty much nothing too impressive also. Okish customer service. And open super late!!!!! Would 1000% recommend over fastfood
Adil Sayed
Ordered takeaways for shrimp fried rice and tofu on rice<br/>4 stars only for the shrimp fried rice because amount of blackpepper in tofu on rice was so much thay it felt like I'm eating black pepper on rice.Had to add mayo and sweet chilli just to reduce the peppery effect.
Duchess_Arg
My friends and I come here whenever we want to pig out. We always order mixed fried rice, spicy pork bellies, deep fried tofu , and pork hock! (sometimes when we are very hungry).

VALUE. EFFICIENCY. CONVENIENCE.<br/><br/>Those are the distinct trademarks of this famous Chinese establishment on Auckland's iconic Dominion Road strip.<br/><br/>Opens til 4:30 am so this is definitely the go-to place for all your late night cravings, bar none. I mean just compare this to McDonald's at 4am! I know which one I'd choose!!<br/><br/>The portion sizes are very generous in comparison to the prices. The food is definitely wholesome and filling would be an understatement. Despite it's no-frills marketing strategy and decor, the food is just as good as any other more premium offerings found in more expensive establishments. <br/><br/>However my guest noted that the complimentary ingredients in the dishes were rather stale and smelly. Perhaps they bulk order the less important ingredients in a dish such as lettuce and then store them away for use long into the future as they expect people not to eat them anyway and concentrate on the main ingredients notably the meat and more premium vegetables.<br/><br/>The service is surprisingly okay. The older chefs working out the back definitely seem like a perpetually grumpy old bunch but the girls holding the fort out in the front are definitely down to earth and charming.<br/><br/>There are no toilet facilities anywhere in sight though. I imagine you'd have to go way down the back through the kitchen and storage rooms to use a little hole in the ground or something. Such is my gripe against budget Chinese restaurants.<br/><br/>I would definitely recommend this place if you are just looking for some wholesome food and not especially concerned about the ambiance or the decor. One bottom line: the food is heavenly.

Chinese food 🍝🍜 is always on top on my favourite list and I would never say no to it.. Visited this resto for the first time and I must say they serve the best authentic Chinese food in town.. The chilli chicken🍗 tossed with the dried red chilli peppers🌶️🌶️ won our heart.. Momos served were tooo perfect...And the sweet n sour pork had the perfect juicy and crunchy texture with pineapple chunks which added more flavour😍.. Would definitely visit this place again.
Sparsh Angre
One of the best place for spicy Chinese food. I love the chicken fried rice and chilli chicken over here. Have tried spicy chicken curry as well which is worth trying. Reasonable and the quantity is good as well. Be careful if you are a non spicy eater. The best thing is they modify the spice level the way you want it. Chilli potato is another favourite dish of mine. Must try is braised pork leg and chilli chicken. You try it once you will go again here. In dessert they have milkmaid buns which is fried buns with milkmaid, perfect to end your dinner with. Ambience is average but the food is awesome.
Ilie
So the ambience isn’t the best. Small area and tight tables, hospital-like lighting and all.<br/><br/>But FANTASIC food!! I’m not a huge spice fan yet I adore this place, they’re great at nailing the spices in every meal
Dipesh
Good for takeaways or last minute craving with uni friends. Food is not authentic Chinese but a good spicy mix. Indians would love this place as it comes close the spicy Chinese you have home. Serving is fast and smooth.
Epicure
This is the place for late night food cravings. These guys are open till 3am sometimes which is great. Staff is not very friendly but food is great. There chilli chicken is must try. I also like their fried rice, fried noodles, Gong bao chicken and hot and spicy chicken. You can choose spicy level as per your taste.
Sime Cajot
This place is always jam packed! You often have to wait for atleast 5-10 mins to get a seat (it’s more convenient to do take aways). Staff are really friendly even some of them cannot speak english well. My favourite foods to order are mixed vegetables, sweet and sour fish, hot and spicy intestine, deep fried squid and pork belly with garlic sauce. They’re all delishously spicy!
Chef Gasm
My review is from experience over 1 year of a returning customer - 4 stars for speed of service (once you actually get a seat 30mins¬ wait). Ordered spicy chicken and Pork fried rice. I was assumed I didn't know how to use chopsticks and I was given a fork which is quite disrespectful when I'm dining at an Asian restaurant. I asked for super spicy as I have been here before and it was not, so as a returning customer I emphasised that I wanted the hottest, I even said their normal is no way near any pinnacle of spice. There was NO recognition of what I said she just agreed and nothing changed it was exactly the same. Which was quite a let down in terms of customer service.<br/><br/>tasty but not any WoW factor food<br/>Average customer service<br/>Godly speed of service <br/>Generic taste overall menu items. No WOW factor anymore. <br/>Take-away is not even worth your time as you will get halve a portion. (That's wrong for any kind of kitchen service). <br/>You get what you pay for minus the customer service, insane wait time and a terrible portion if your ordering to go. <br/><br/>(Professional Chef based in New Zealand) - Lapracticalchef rates: 5.5/10 barely.
Annie Ren
Cheap and delightful food at Spicy House and they are always pumping regardless of when you go. The food is tasty and great for a feed after a night out but absolutely not authentic, which is perhaps why you would barely see any Chinese diners there.
Dillon Pink
The moment I came to Auckland, everyone told me that I had to try to spicy house. And going by it’s name, every dish is spicy.<br/>The ambience is not that great because you will forget all that once you start eating.<br/>Had the chili okra, some fried rice, noodles, some dumplings and some spicy beef.<br/>If your not a lover for spicy food I suggest you tell them to cut down on the spice.<br/>But all in all, the food was good. Its one of the old restaurants in Auckland.<br/>Don’t miss this if you love Chinese food and spice.
Shaina Bernard
Literally only come here for the beans and brisket! WELL worth the price and man the sauce on the brisket is to die for and they are very generous with the sauce might I add. <br/><br/>I have never tasted Minced beans like this but I damn well know I won’t be able to cook it.<br/><br/>Would only like the staff to be a bit more friendly and if they had a bigger place and done it up more it would definitely be a 5 from me.
AngryWhenHungry
I have to say, this is our go to place if and when me and my partner are starving and want a heavy meal with rice ☺️. The soft shell chili crab is heaven sent!!! Aside from that we also always get the salt & pepper squid which is also amazing and the mapu tofu which literally slides and melts in your mouth. Of course, it wont be complete without the yang chow rice 😆 The place is just very small and certainly not the cleanest but the staff are very nice. We’ll still keep on coming back!
Seini Shoer
Like the food here but unfortunately the delivery service is just ridiculous!! I've ordered for delivery a few times & every single time they tell me to meet them at my front gate. So this time I kindly asked to be delivered to my front door (there's a delivery fee so why not!!) & That I'd be paying by eftpos. Long story short, delivery guy calls me from outside telling me to walk to his car & collect my food. And of course I refused! He gets to my front door & wasn't happy that I didn't have cash coz he forgot the cordless eftpos in his car & had to walk back! If I was rating based on the service only, I'd give you a -5 stars if I could!! My food was good though.
Amy Marie
Been a favourite for a while and continues to be due to such awesome food, lots of variety to choose from and really worth the wait when busy.
Nafis Haider
A go to place for me. It's open toll late. When I'm hungry I can go here and enjoy chilli chicken boneless. Wish the pricing was cheaper as they use to be cheaper few years ago. Wish they don't changed the price so much.
Linlin
Randomly chose to have lunch here whilst in the area. We had the combination noodles which had barely any meat. Only 2 pieces of beef which was disappointing. The tofu and pork dish was tasteless and needed salt to give it some flavor and lastly the fried squid was way too salty. On a side not their service was prompt.
Janice Chan
We wanted to try spicy house early on but it was really crowded so we only had it recently. Try to go during off peak times if you really want to try it!We had the spicy wanton soup, the mapo tofu mince with rice and the combination noodles. I like how you can choose 2 types of meat you'd like in the combination noodles. It was all lovely, my partner and i enjoyed the food. The food came quite quickly as well. Overall it was a good experience.
Suba Gnanasekaran
Spicy house is my local, good price ( only recently menu updated with new price but only a dollar gone up) & tasty & open till 3am. Spicy house fed me so many late nights.
Victoria Spurrell
Hands down the worst meal on Dom rd I have ever had. Gung bao chicken was cold, had raw veg, no spice and dry stale rice. I had to sit and watch my friends eat their dinner (average but edible) as 2 bites into mine it was completely inedible. Despite them taking away my food as it was so dire they still charged me for the meal, $19 later and no dinner. AVOID IF YOU VALUE YOUR TASTEBUDS
Nivsha Amin
I’ll keep it short. We have had a lot of evenings where spicy house take away food came to our rescue. This place has amazing number of options to try. Today for a change I tried the vegetarian noodle soup and I liked it ! It was full of subtle flavours and veggies. We usually go for the spicy chicken and chilli chicken options here. But I can say that everything they offer is worth a try ! Cheers

The best place for late night food.. the staff is nice and friendly and the food is amazing . The good part about this restaurant is their consistency of food which is very good for small joints like these. I just have one suggestion that it should keep adding more dishes to its menu or change the menu on and off because it gets a little boring after sometimes.

I find this place alright because the food offered is pretty basic and the ambience is not good either. Once in a while, if you do want to get some quick bites, this could be a good place. But otherwise I don't really prefer having a proper meal here. I wouldn't complain about the quality or quantity of food but I would say it was ordinary and not as per my expectations. My friends love this place for some reason, so my opinion could be different to yours. So I would suggest, try it out once and see if you like it!

Quite dissapointed with the food here. Ordered stir fry kai-lan, spicy fish fillet and chilli okra but the food was very plain and dull. Spicy house but nothing was spicy. And the rice was too dry.
Charlotteraju
ordered gong bao chicken and beef fried rice, gong bao tasted strange to me didnt really enjoy it but fried rice was really good, especially for the price -$9!! the portions sizes are so good too, neither me or my friend were able to finish both meals. my new fave place for fried rice runs.

If you know Chinese food, then you know this place is very overrated. Ordered fried rice for about $10, which seems cheap, but when it comes out you see that theres hardly any meat, veges, etc in it. My mates ordered a couple of other dishes and they were sub par. I honestly don't know why people like it here, other than the fact they stay open pretty late. I am also noticing that quite a few Indians have been giving reviews, and I also went with a few Indian mates, and they ordered some dishes extra spicy. So I'd guess that's one of the reasons they like it here. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place if you want real Chinese food. I would say that the only reason they're rated 3.9/5 is because the people that are reviewing aren't really experienced with Chinese cuisine, and therefore can't compare it to much. By the way, some people have also said it's cheap, but for their prices, there are plenty of other joints around with better food and the same price.

Hard to find seats without waiting but when you do - amazing food, cheap, open till late and quantities are massive! Customer service is not bad - mostly great. If you can handle hot food - must try!

Spicy house is the most legit joint on Dommy road. There are pretty loose vegetarian options - the vegetable fried rice, chili fried mushroom and potato, and spicy fried rice are among the best! Watch them greasy floors though.
Ashton
Best place ever! The food is great! Cheap! Fast, i go there twice every month at least. Craving noddles and fish fillet with chilli already 😋😋😋
FoodFelix
Spicy house is spicy enough to make our chilli loving tongues however cleanliness is poor. Extremely poor. So recommend similar food at mt Albert m+m tea instead
Veg_food_plz
I wanted to visit this place after hearing reviews from my mates. So finally today I went there and tried egg fried rice! It’s super spicy just how we expected to be. Love the taste! <br/>Wallet friendly and good quantity with quality. <br/>Prefer takeaways 🥡!!

After a big night out this restaurant use to be my “go too” for a filling affordable feed. That was until one night I needed to use their restroom!!! Their toilet is located outside behind their kitchen, so you would basically need to walk behind the counter through to the kitchen to get outside, there you will find the most disgusting and gut wrenching toilet ever! Worst than a public toilet I swear! <br/>After my business, as I was walking back through the kitchen I see them washing the dishes in a sink full of thick grey dirty as water! <br/>So please think twice while you’re enjoying your meal off of their nasty as cutlery and plates !! Don’t believe me? Next time you’re there, go ask to use their toilet!

Usually when I drive home late from work I see a whole line of people waiting outside Spicy house. So I had to try it! It was actually on my 2016 bucket list <br/><br/>The first time I went it was amazing we got the chicken noodles, chilli chicken and chicken stir fried rice (lol I’m a chickenaterian) every time after that I still ordered the same thing! The rice is great especially if you eat it with the chilli chicken, the noodles are a bit rubbery but still really saucy and yum! <br/>Probably not the best first date lol as my bestfriends we’re laughing at how much food was all over my mouth and chin again really saucy noodles! <br/><br/>I don’t particularly enjoy the seating area, it’s a bit congested however one time we went there David Dallas was getting interviewed lol that was pretty cool.

Came here to satisfy my midnight cravings and was disappointed at the taste of the food here, I had high expectations of this place seeing as the reviews lean more towards the positive end. I ordered the chilly chicken, pork dumplings, chicken fried rice and fried squid, after a few spoonfuls of each I was over it. Almost tasted as if the chicken had been fried in the same oil the squid/seafood was fried in, I'd rather my chicken tasted like chicken and not squid or fish. On the upside Spicy House is definitely good on the pocket and would probably win over anyone who loves spicy food

Chili chicken is a must coming to this shop. The mushroom tofu is also amazing. Also, I think this place may be more of a takeaway shop rather than to dine in due to the minimum number of seats. Just thought to keep that in mind for first timers here. But do come & eat here! They are my favourite eatery place in whole row of Dominion Rd imo.

I have been going to spicy house for years. Food has been consistency delicious. Service has improved alot! Have to try deep fried squid with boiled pork dumpling! Finish with off with strawberry milk tea! Delish!
Arkisunday
Great...definitely try the 'spicy eggplant'. Literally craving 'spicy house' every minute! Cuedos to manager/owner. This is my favorite chinese
Honey
One of my fave chinese restaurant. I can't count how many times I've been here but the food never disappoints me everytime. My fave food is the crispy intestines but sometimes it's not available or sold out. The place is always full and the place is just small and sometimes we're just forced to wait outside the cold or transfer to a different restaurant.
Shihana
One of the places I visited after I came to New Zealand. Must say the food is amazing and bang on for the money. <br/><br/> Tried the soups, the rice, noodles, Momos. The best one among all of them is the chilly chicken.
Foodiesquarepants
Your best bet for yummy Asian food in Dominion Rd. <br/>No 'wow' factor; menu is box standard, but service is fast and food is yum yum. <br/>I recommend their cumin lamb! That's where the money's at
Marie
Went into spicy house for takeaways this afternoon. We bought two dishes with rice, curry chicken and sweet and sour pork $9 each which was awesome. We didn't try any spicy food this time but the food we got was good, big portions and a 10 minute wait time.
Han Craven
Prompt, cheap delivery. Also v cheap food- spicy chicken was good, egg fried rice was as you’d expect- but honestly, I found the hot and sour soup pretty much inedible—- and I’m not fussy ☺️
Supreeth Esturi
Short fast food restaurant. Authentic Chinese cuisine. The name says it all . Spicy food is tooo tasty and would visit this place all the time for my trip to Auckland.
SpoonMe
I looooove spicy house! I’ve been going there at least once a month or sometimes even more!! If you want super fast, cheap and satisfying food this is the place to go. A must is the chilli chicken, pork hock and spicy fried rice.
Ellen Zhang
Went there for once by my own. The fried noodles were great which reaches the standards, but the cold dishes tasted a little bit weird, I mean it didn’t taste right. I ordered a spicy one but it turned out that the dish was not traditionally spicy, but just too salty.
IMadrasi
If you are hungry. <br/>Its late night? <br/>food with more quantity? <br/><br/>This is the best place to go to.<br/><br/>When ever its late or i wanna eat something spicy, this is the place I approach to. <br/><br/>Try chicken friend rice [spicy], chilli chicken, beef with mushroom are the best. <br/><br/>They take few minutes to cook but its worth the wait. <br/><br/>You can park your car in the street next to the shop.
Cheyenne SC Harris
There food is soo yum I come here all the time the atmosphere is always busy, vibrant, and happy and the restaurant is always crowded. I highly recommend there beef fried rice is my all-time favorite. Tonight im trying the chicken fried rice, and wonton noodle soup!

Dear Spicy House,<br/><br/>The true MVP on a night out with delivery until 3AM! In Auckland!! That's pretty much the restaurant equivalent of a unicorn. You is cheap, you is food, you is important. Blessings on blessings with the dumplings(cause everything else on the menu kind of scares me, what can I say)
Addy
Great cheap Chinese food. They are constantly turning tables - it's always packed and loud which is a great vibe. Love coming here late at night, every time has been a good one so far.
Margaret Fernandes
On a whim decided to dine at Spicy House and boy was I surprised, enjoyed a bowlful of beef soup with noodles (10$) - trust me you have to be ravenous to finish this bowl (had to take away) and cold tofu salad with spring onions 8$ (tofu was melt in the mouth and delicious). Despite the crowd we were able to get seats and were served quickly (complimentary tea served - however was not impressed - too watery). Excellent staff service, prompt, polite and the young gentleman patiently heard our request for non-spicy soup owing to one of us having a sore throat and repeated our order - fabulous service and attention to detail. Open till late, a must go to for delicious food at low prices, difficult to find in Auckland. Total value for money, will definitely visit again :-) Thanks guys you made our evening.
Jeffie
A Dominion rd institution I've been coming to for years. A late night with the boys always requires our usual of pork hock, spicy chicken, mapo tofu and green bean with mince. Everything is always hot, delicious, filling and usually the cheapest part of the night. Service/ambience is standard.
Vicky Pethybridge
Serves it's purpose and does what it says. most dishes seriously unhealthy and full of MSG as you would expect, but the quantity is on point a and you won't be left hungry generally the food is pretty fresh so they don't serve stale stuff like most others in this price range.
Aimee.
I love coming here after a long night of drinking. The food is comforting and brings joy to my heart. The restaurant itself is small and is always full but the turnover is quite quick so the wait is short and worth it. The portions are generous and the food is well seasoned. Good value for money as most of the dishes are under $20 and the rice dishes in my photos were only $9-$10.
I'm Hungry
Went here on a Sunday with a group of friends. As usual the place was very crowded. We didn't mind the wait but food took a while, but service was OK. Food taste and quality was very average and so was the decor and space. Chilly mushroom was good, Kung pap chicken and spicy chicken were OK. Caution: Toilet extremely dirty, I suggest you don't use ever at all.
Andrew Kelly
Great food, opens late at night perfect for a after town feed. Service isn't the best, but still far better than Flavour House across the road. Highly recommend the chilli chicken boneless.
Akshay Gupta
Superb food. Must try chilli chicken, egg fried rice (not spicy), lamb with cumin. Wait can be long to get a seating but its worth the wait.

SPICY HOUSE :-<br/><br/>THE FOODOLOGIST RATING:<br/><br/>Food:-4.5/5 (Perfect Night Binge, Semi Authentic ,Value For Money, Tasty)<br/><br/>Service:-2.5/5(Slow,Informal , Inefficient ,Self Service )<br/><br/>Ambiance:- 1.5/5(Very Basic , Tight , Overcrowded)<br/><br/>Cleanliness:-2.5/5(Always Welcome to seat On Dirty Tables Cleared After you Seat)<br/><br/> My Late night go too during my uni days .<br/>Especially during late study nights .Open far more longer than any of the restaurants on dominion road and in Auckland . <br/>Asian grub at its best, would not use the term authentic but more of a fusion Asian fare leaning more towards china . <br/>Place does not have adequate seating so be ready to wait outside the restaurant dress warm for those cold nights .<br/>You would always have to wait as seating is tight . Staff can be rude though they don't mean too its just the heat and how busy they are gets to them the complimentary tea is good after the wait .<br/> Food I have tried a lot of the stuff stay away from the seafood they are mostly frozen their braised stews are good .<br/>The crispy fried spicy chicken is good the pork fried rice is good just would like to warn you about the oil content .<br/> And keep an eye on their on the whiteboard specials So if your looking at a place to eat in the night I guess the oil would not make a difference .give it a try

I love Spicy House! It's great that it's open much later than most others on Dominion Road. Last night our dishes came out so fast even though it was busy and we were lucky to get a table. The spicy fried rice was full of flavour and the perfect level of spice. The beef and spring onion was really nice, just a little salty but most things are. It was also a very clean restaurant.
Samantha Gemmell
This place used to be my late night go to. The food is good, prices are decent and service is fast. A bit put off by what we found in the pork hock though. My friend was happily enjoying his pork hock but then found a unpleasant surprise in his mouth which turned out to be a piece of polystyrene. When we told the waitress all she said was oh it's because we store our pork hock by the takeaway boxes. What a shitty excuse. Sounds a bit unhygienic, like is the pork hock not covered when it's stored?? Also the fish fillets with fresh chilli had waaaaaaaaaaaay too much MSG in it. You can literally see it chillin on the surface of the fish, would not recommend unless you wanna feel like drinking a gallon of water afterwards. Pork and chive dumplings are good though ✌🏼
Richie Martinez
I come in here and as i ate my meal I come upon this piece of polystyrene, I knew it wasn't part of the food as it was difficult to chew threw. I am not pleased. >:,(<br/>

Very good for a casual dining restaurant. Good quality and quantity as well, love their beef oyster on rice. The fried rice is huge as well, want to check on their chicken next time
Jeremy Henry
Great selection. The infamous deep fried spare ribs were crazy delicious and another favourite the Chinese broccoli sauteed in garlic butter were simply Devine!!!
Sid
We went to this restaurant thinking it was really popular and had decent reviews. Staff got our order wrong, and weren't very nice about it. Other than that food was okay for what we got.
Vanz Talisa
Excellent flavoursome food. We ordered takeaway it was cramped going in to get food. The food however was superb! only letdown, their fried rice which was dry and stuck together in lumps. Who cares? I dont coming back for more soon<br/><br/>Robyn Atley
Iris Joy Ebasco Edic
Irene Ebasco Edic <br/><br/>Place is cramped. But still with a lot of customers. <br/><br/>Food wasn't satisfying for me. The tofu we ordered had an after taste of mint which i found odd and I really didn't like having another bite again. Spicy pork belly was way too salty, had to eat a lot of rice to cover the saltiness.<br/><br/>Positive side was, Food was served very fast.
Mandy C
I have been here a few times with my friends. Despite the name, they have a lot of non- spicy dishes! Being a mild water myself, I always go for these although the spicy options smells and looks amazing. I have gotten the dumplings, rice and noodle dishes; all yum and big portion. Once I got takeaway and they got my order wrong but no Biggy. This place opens til late too so great for midnight snack.
Keith
Had the deep fried squid and deep fried pork. Both were tasty but nothing out of the ordinary. Took a while to get my takeaways but service was ok. Perhaps we didn't order their more outstanding meals. Value was ok but obviously they are up against lots of competition on that stretch of Balmoral.
Atara Jeannette Viniki
Love this place. The customer service is average but the good food makes up for it. So convenient it opens late as well. Recommend the chicken fried rice, spare ribs, beef noodle soup, deep fried squid.
Neelam Chandra
Spicy house is mine and my partners favourite joint to grab food from. We religiously order their chilli chicken and chicken fried rice and its amazing every single time. Their chilli chicken is crispy, salty and incredibly spicy and their fried rice is always packed with flavour. I wouldn't reccomened this to the faint hearted.

Spicy House - a "Must Visit" Restaurant in Auckland for Tasty "Value-for-Money" Chinese Food<br/>Spicy House may not have "fine-dining ambience" but the food is delicious. <br/><br/>Yes - the food is really scrumptious and sumptuous.<br/><br/>In fact - the Chinese Cuisine I relished at Spicy House was one of the best I have ever savoured. <br/><br/>The Chicken with Black Bean Sauce and Chilli Chicken are superb.<br/><br/>In fact - the Chilli Chicken is most lip-smacking - and it tastes uniquely different from the usual Chilli Chicken you get in other Chinese Eateries. <br/><br/>The Chilli-Chicken at Spicy House is the best Chilli Chicken I have ever tasted.<br/><br/>You must order the delicious inimitable Chilli Chicken in Spicy House.<br/><br/>I also liked the Sweet and Sour Pork which is delicious and combines perfectly with the Combination Fried Rice (which is a mixed fried rice comprising various meats seafood and vegetables). <br/><br/>I will also recommend the Seafood dishes which are very tasty too.<br/><br/>The restaurant is open until the wee hours of the morning and is ideal for a late night meal. <br/><br/>Spicy House is a "must visit" restaurant in Auckland when you are in a mood for a sumptuous Chinese Meal.
Maylen Cortes Mistula Capao
Very affordable and tasty chinese dishes I tried with these Restau. I make sure to visit them when I'm in Mt Eden Auckland . They have plenty of menu to choose from.
Sooperlyn
My favourite spicy food place! I only order 2 items here - their Hot and Spicy Intestines and their Sizzling Black Pepper Beef. If you're not used to spicy food, stick with the sizzling order. Flavour is excellent. I will keep coming back.
Liksya
Great service staff! <br/>The food was awesome. A very nice chinese restaurant until late night. I loved their beef brisket :)<br/>Price is reasonable too. Ambience is what youd expect for a chinese restaurant. 5/5 overall.<br/>This explains an overwhelming amount of customers to be seated during their open times, despite having a huge selection of similar restaurants by the dominion road. :)
Victoria Jenner
Customer service none existent and a long wait if it's packed. There are only 6 tables so takeaway is a better option. I do enjoy the chillie chicken, it's super yummy and I come back just for that. Other food there , normal Chinese you can get anywhere.
Chirag Darji
There is no way other comments or ratings that will put a detractor on my opinion of this place. I love spicy and chinese, thus for me spicy house is haven. Everytime I go there (which is mostly everytime), I am never let down by the food. Price is easy on the wallet as well. But with street food as tasty as this, there is no way cost is a factor.
Kaushikc_32
Well have been having takeouts from this place for a long time but had a chance to dine in last week. Had the chicken in spicy sauce, chiili chicken and veg fried rice. <br/>All the dishes were really tasty, chicken was juicy and tender. The salt content in veg friend rice was high but was eatable. The quantity per dish is totally worth ths money you pay for. Would surely keep having takeaways from this place.
Saphic Chan
Can't go wrong if you need a hot bowl of rice and freshly cooked to order Chinese dishes at midnight. Nothing fancy about the shop setup, just sit, fill and leave.
S&G Take Auckland
Possibly the fastest service i have ever experienced. We placed an order for the chilli chicken with a fried rice. We received the rice within 3 minutes! I almost couldn't believe it. The portion size for the chicken was huge and super tasty.<br/><br/>My friend did have a few issues in the bathroom the next day, however she said that it was well worth it :/<br/>haha<br/><br/>Value for money and super cheap. <br/><br/>Warning: if you're claustrophobic it can be very uncomfortable eating there when it's busy as there's almost no ventilation and you're seated very very close to someone else.
Rohit
Great place to eat after a late night out with your mates. Always order the Chill Chicken, Chicken Fried Rice and Chicken Noodles. Never disappointed. Pan fried dumplings are a treat. Ambience is average but price makes up for it. If you want something cheap, tasty and quick, this is definitely the place to visit.
Leo Dilshan
This review is not for anything but for the food. They got some real flavourful dishes ! Highly recommend "chicken in spicy sauce" and ong choi . Been there over 25 times and won't ever stop going there . One of my fav
Shubhal Sable
Had spicy fried rice. At home i heated it few times as it was drying so fast. After testing that rice i came to know it was fake/plastic rice. I made ball of handful rice. I surprised after result as it bounced and hit on any object didn't break at all. So please beware of this kind of rice
Ruchita Choukar
You can never go wrong with d fried rice and chilli chicken order from here..<br/>Both are satisfyingly huge in portions and fuflfill d hungrr for Chinese food. Love the chicken dumplings there.<br/>We usually order for take out, because its always crowded and having it there is not comfortable as the dine area is small. <br/>They have been consistent in delivery time, taste and portion for their food..<br/>Spicy house is on my speed dial for midnight hunger calls..<br/><br/>13/02/2018- 12:25 AM: Please update your google and Zomato for NOT OPEN ON MONDAYS..<br/>This is the second time we drove and it was closed.
Rutu Pandya
Great street food. Especially if you're really hungry after 12 am, coz this is probably the only place that stays open till late. <br/><br/>We usually end up ordering, Veg Noodles (Spicy), Tofu (Spicy), Egg Friend Rice, Chicken Dumplings and Chilli Chicken. <br/><br/>The food has good flavours and the service is very quick. I have a soft corner for the tea they serve along with the food. Reasonably priced and not heavy on the pocket. This place is a must if you're a street food lover and believe in cheap eats. <br/><br/>The only downside to this place is if you don't get your dish spicy the first time and you request them to make it more spicy, the dish comes back loaded with nothing but chilli, which basically means now you won't be able to eat it unless you have a secret desire of killing your taste buds.
Winnie
You go there once and there is no return.<br/>Its the best street side type food that ive eaten in New Zealand. Its a very small place with not enough seating. At times you will find the staff occupying one of the tables and chopping away the vegetables. The food is amazing, hygienic and cheap. The fried chicken is not to be missed. They do take aways which is a win win. <br/>So take my word and go there. Today.<br/><br/>In the pics: fried chicken, egg fried rice, chicken in spicy sauce. <br/><br/>Return: I am on my way already.<br/>Prise wise: very easy on the pocket.
Anu
Loved the place . Cheap food with so many options but great quality. Only downside is wait to get tables. It has now become my regular weekend spot .
Tony Ma
If you're ok with extremely dirty but yummy food late at night then comes here. The entire place looks yuck. Including the carpark at the back. But some of the food that comes out is still good. Even the Japanese eat her!<br/><br/>Probably authentic Chinese food. <br/><br/>Anyways, lots of kiwis eat here too. I personally takeaway. Not a big fan of dining there. <br/><br/>Good give it a go for fun!<br/><br/>Service: 3/5<br/>Environment: 1/5<br/>Food Quality: 3/5<br/>Food Quantity: 3.5/5<br/>Price: $20pp<br/>

I arrived in Auckland midnight from South Island and I'm hungry so I drop by at spicy house for takeaway! I told the Chinese girl I want deep fried pork ribs 16$. Then i told her three times and I pointed the writing on the board. So when I got home in north shore I open the box and i got squid! No communication and staff don't speak english! 😡😡😡😡<br/>

Made fresh and quick. It is the go to for yummy Asian cuisine! Go atleast once a week. Taste is consistent. Always good at odd hours of the night as they are open. Always pretty busy which reflects there good food and decent prices.
Manmeet Singh
Chicken with spicy sauce was really outstanding and unexpectedly delicious- definitely will eat here again.<br/>Only thing to be mindful of, is that there can be a while before you get a table as the place gets really busy and has small dining area.
Leah Isaia
I love spicy house! Our family have perfected our regular combo when we order. Egg fried rice, Beef in oyster sauce, Spare ribs in secret sauce, Chilli chicken, Stir fried spicy beef. I would recommend them all.
Bryan Chan
Fast service but rugged decor.Good flavor and aromas in the spice. Definitely a bargain for the quality that you get. Kung pow chicken is on point, but too much chili peppers in the dish which i don't eat.
Alexandra Gosling
I like this place I always go there specially If is late ... I love having my chicken fried rice apart from the fact that it didn't have any chicken on it.
Hitesh Lochan
Haven't been disappointed  yet...food has always been great. Would highly recommend if you want simple quick dishes. (Deep fried crispy squid is to die for)
Avi Yabaluri
Great place! I don't particularly love dining in due to the size of the establishment... but I take away often and really love the food! Flavour, spice (duh!), quantity - everything I love is present and done superbly! <br/><br/>The prices, especially compared to other places where the food is bland, are decent! The pan-fried chicken dumplings, Chilli Chicken, Chicken/Egg fried rice are a go-to, for me.<br/><br/>Much recommended!
Marggie Pascua
I love the spicy house. I love the prawns and the squid, the food is actually not too spicy but you can ask for more chilli to add to your food. The food itself is good, the place is too small and it gives that authentic vibe of being in Asia.
Caprie Fusimalohi
Went and hit up this place with my cuzo on Thursday night. Chili chicken was 💯 gotta make the place bigger though and should show if place is packed out so you don't go there any wait outside
Munterboy
Good food, fast service, and cheap. Also open till late another bonus. Iv been here many times and never disappointed. Would recommend visiting.
Debin Sabu
The food thing about this place is that it's open during the wee hours of the morning. The food is alright. Was recommended to me by a friend and I later told him that the food wasn't as great as I was expecting. <br/>Apparently they served good food before. Probably needs to fix things. The staff are friendly<br/><br/>Update !! <br/>Just found that the way to the toilet is through the kitchen !! <br/>

Very few places come close to price and carbo load value that is Spicy house. <br/>If youre looking for somewhere to go at 2am this is also the place to go. The rice is still fresh, the chicken still spicy and the tea still brewing. <br/>All of the big ass with rice portions are 9$ as well as all of the fat stacks of fried noodles. <br/>The fried chilli chicken is a smidge pricyer than the rest of the dishes but if youre splitting the bill make sure you hit that up. <br/>Would recommend the black bean chicken on rice, the beef w cumin, any of the fried noodles, and for all you basics out there the sweet and sour pork is pretty gooood. <br/>Ever in a moment of indecision? Pick spicy house.
Nathalie
This place is my fav place in balmoral. Although the place is very small and ambiance is not the best despite the above their food is yummy! Our fav is spicy chicken and fried intestine. The price is also very affordable, we do recommend you going in group of 4-6 so you can order more and split bill. We have been coming here for a long time and we do find that their chilli isn't that spicy? The first time we tried this place their food was so spicy we were sweating while eating. But this time it's not as spicy anymore (but still pretty spicy). Overall great little place and yummy menu! Worth a visit
Andrean
Nice food... spicy... tasty... yummy...<br/>Our favourites are their hot & spicy chicken and deep fried squid.<br/>The only let down is the small dining area. Booking in advance (especially on lunch / dinner time) is recommended.
Ryan Gibb
No where better. Bury me with the LV and a chilli beef soup + chicken with fresh chilli. This place is lit, the pork and chive pan fried dumplings are the real trap lord
Kieran
Spicy House.  <br/>This place is about as simple as it gets.<br/>Mismatching furniture, the menu written up roughly on a whiteboard, the usual Dominion Rd "I haven't cracked a smile since 1996" service.  It is all about the cheap Chinese food, and with mixed results I might add.<br/><br/>- Chili Chicken - This is their signature dish, it's a must.  It's like KFC's popcorn chicken on crack.<br/><br/>- The Braised Pork Hock - swimming in a moreish sauce but unfortunately it needed another hour cooking, a bit tough, very disappointing.<br/> <br/>- Lamb with spicy sauce - This is a bit of a standout dish, thinly sliced lamb swimming in a rich spicy/soy sauce with noodles.<br/><br/>- Combination Fried Rice - Very skint on the combination, but the consistency and method to cook the rice had spectacular results, beautifully done. <br/><br/>- Cucumber Salad - great condiment to match the richness of the other dishes.<br/><br/>Simple, spicy, saucy, sans smiles.

A late night feed that isn't Maccas or KFC is very much appreciated! <br/><br/>We got the fried rice, chillie chicken and spring onion lamb...and 42$ very reasonable.

This review is based solely on the food, because Spicy House isn't really interested in creature comforts such as decor or atmosphere. <br/><br/>Spicy House is incredible and I don't think I'll ever tire of it. The pricing is very reasonable (usually $10-15 per share plate) especially considering how delicious everything is. The setting is simple, no fuss - save for the fairy lights lazily draped across the walls - with all emphasis placed solely on the food. The food is super tasty, with lashings of salt, garlic and spice in every bite. For this reason Spicy House is a breath of fresh air amidst restaurants that serve nothing but style and atmosphere with very little skill in the kitchen. <br/><br/>Menu standouts are: Boneless Chilli Chicken, Lamb & Cumin, Cucumber Salad, Fried Pork Dumpling, Garlic Shanghai Cabbage and Egg Fried Rice. This will set you back around $50 and can feed 3 people easily. <br/><br/>Pay them a visit, keep your mind open to the quirks of the place and just sit back and enjoy the incredible food.
Subbu
Good value for money. Yummy chinese food. Spicy food and Chinese cuisine lovers should definitely visit this place! They are open late which is a big advantage if you are looking to get some late dinner ;)
Momo
After coming to eat here again and again, each time I swear I won't ever go back (so greasy and salt-lord overload) but then that craving kicks in and back we go. What a vicious cycle. <br/><br/>For their addictive m.s.g comfort food taste, I want to give it a 5 star rating.<br/>We usually order: chilli chicken (boneless), deep fried squid + pork or beef fried rice.<br/>Just eat the food and leave, there's usually a queue waiting for your table at night times.<br/><br/>.... Going to stop coming for a while to get a bit healthier but will be back soon!
Cool Cat
Fantastic for a late night snack! Wish more restaurants would take on the late hours that Spicy House does! The dumplings are some of the best I've ever had, so juicy! The chilli chicken and salt and pepper squid are also delicious! s. Hygiene rating seems to fluctuate a bit but I've never experienced anything bad about this place. A far better option than McDonald's for a late night meal :)

Pricing, service and quantity of food is pretty good !! What's stopping this review from being 5 star is I noticed it's reheated food hence why it comes out so quickly at times. Personally it isn't even spicy even if I ask for extra spice, however I'll definitely still come regardless as the positives still outweigh the negatives here!

Pork Overload! <br/><br/>I loved my visit to Spicy House: home-made Chinese food, behemoth portions, wallet-friendly and just some flavoursome food.<br/><br/>This is a great spot for group meals because I feel if you came solo or in twos you wouldn't be able to try the full range of delicious meals Spicy House offers.<br/><br/>We had the pork leg, fried ribs, stir fry green bean, dumplings and marinated red pork. All our meals came out in whale-sized portions, and my favourite was definitely the ribs. The crunchy exterior and soft tender meat has me dreaming of those ribs. The pork leg was also tender and tasty, albeit it had a bit of fat on. But you know what? We all deserve a cheat day once in awhile!<br/><br/>#notallfatsareequal!<br/><br/>Showstopper: Fried ribs and Pork leg<br/><br/>Overall Grade: A-

Really good food. And service is very quick. There is a long que for sitting but it's worth it. Food quality is fair enough. Best part is that it's open till 4 am.

Food was delicious and portion was huge. No waiting since ordered at 4pm. Staff was nice and food was authentic as expected but wish it was more authentic. Environment doesn't mean anything if the food was not goos

Worst food ever :( I ordered chicken noodles and asked it to be medium spicy but it came out not spicy at all <br/>Then I asked them politely to make it little bit more spicy<br/>And guess what it came out as a disaster noodles ever, SO SPICY!!!!<br/><br/>Worst service ever i received<br/>Try not go there please

The food is really good, and the best part is that it is cheap and the place is open till late making this place ideal for students. Would recommend it to my friends.

What I like best about Spicy House:<br/>1. Open till late<br/>2. Affordable prices<br/>3. Generous portions<br/><br/>Some of the food is genuinely spicy so it's not for the faint hearted. I personally love their fried rices and dimsums.

I absolutely love this place! the food is always great and very cheap with large portions. Especially when finishing work at 1 am and this place is still open. All time favorite
Lilly Tamatu
loved it came esp for the hock 😋😋😋 and jus bkoz also had that crazy chilli chicken ... excellnt late dinna spot abit crampy when busy friendly staff great location reasonably cheap ..... definitely a come back too xo 💋

Really enjoyed my first time experience at Spicy House.  Was rather warm inside and they were busy with queues of people patiently waiting.  Love the beef tongue and their signature share platter with fat rice noodles. Yum!
Anita
I had takeaways few times here. the food is very cheap compared to any where else in the city and that's the only positive thing i can say about this place. Communication is a big problem. Food didn't taste so good. Wouldn't say its a healthy choice.

I think this is one of the best places in Auckland for Chinese food, especially for those who want delicious home food to take away. The last time I came here was 7.30pm on a Sunday night, there were 3 of us and got seated pretty quick (not usual for this place, there is often a waiting line!) We ordered braised pork hock, hot and spicy chicken, shanghai cabbage with garlic and a cucumber salad-like dish. Let me just say that the braised pork hock is a MUST TRY because it's just super great food, speaking as a person who hate eating pork dishes. Many complains that the food is oily but i think it depends on the dishes you choose. Overall a good Chinese restaurant. Deducting 1 pt just because I love to dine in and this place setting doesn't look quite appealing to dine in, better takeaway for me :)

The food lives up to it's name. If you're in need of quick fried food that tastes really nice then this is the place to go. Grubby/Compressed atmosphere but a nice place if you have a group of 5. I'd recommend the fried tofu or noodles and it's not too far from the city. Would recommend for once in awhile food though.
A
It's really hard to figure out what's vegetarian on the menu, and the food is super oily, but is so cheap and great for a feast! Loved the egg fried rice- perfect for a lazy Sunday. If you like tofu they have some good dishes but I did have to specify no meat :)
Isaac Ansell
Dishes actually cost more than shown on menu. They also used to have bigger portions but since have reduced this at the same time they raised their price.
Sriram Annayan
i had a very bad experience here ! food actually sucks ! no hygiene. I fell sick after eating here. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

It should be the top nomination to be on Kitchen Nightmare if Gordan Ramsay is to come to NZ. I'd like to give them a zero if possible. Easily the worst I've ever had in NZ. Ordered three different dishes: spicy chicken, pork belly with garlic sauce and spicy beef. And all of them are terrible. I had three different dishes so if someone still thinks that was just my bad choice of food, I will have to say they just have too many bad dishes on the menu. The spicy chicken tasted like popcorn chicken served with half cup of salt and msg. Pork belly is supposed to be a cold dish, but everything was warm, including the cucumber, which was soggy, overly salty. Spicy beef was served in this starch soup which was tasteless and disgusting looking. I am not a good chef but I don't think I can cook worse than this. Never ever coming to spicy house again. If you are thinking of coming, don't. It is not authentic Chinese food, it is not even up to normal standard. It is unbearable. Please do yourself a favor and stay away from it.

This place is a hunger saver as it's open till super late and serves decent food.<br/><br/>Our group of friends are regulars here as we tend to get hungry and ungodly hours. This place serves you typical Chinese dishes like fried rices, noodles, cashew nut chicken etc but the food here is surprisingly spicier than most other similar joints.<br/><br/>I would recommend trying their sweet corn soups with some green beans and a dish of egg-fried rice.<br/><br/>All dishes here are very cheap in terms of pricing and are very filling too.<br/><br/>Not entirely sure how good this place is hygiene wise as they recently were graded 'B' but now have moved to an 'A'<br/><br/>I'll go here again specially if I'm hungry really late and the only other options are junk joints.
Sanchit Kaushal
One of the few places that I used to visit when I was in auckland.. The management has changed several times and so have their quality..<br/>But if you are looking for a late night spicy and cheap bite, then you have got this place..<br/>Service is ok and ambience is not worth mentioning..<br/>Overall 3.5<br/>

This place seems really popular a lot of people were waiting to order or either get delivery. I felt that the place was to crowded and stuffy. I just had finished work and expected something to surprise my tastebuds but it didn't really happen. I ordered the chicken chow mein and the chili chicken. The noodles was nice had nice flavours to it but there was just way to much oil in the dish. It was literally soggy with oil I don't know how much they use. The chili chicken was nice too but nothing great. I may come back for the dumplings as I saw others around me enjoying their dumplings. Other than that, not that great for me. Also to much of a long wait and staff were okay.

The go to place when you are in the mood for spicy food. Chilly chicken, egg fried rice and hot and spicy chicken are my favourites here. Portions are so generous and I always end up doing a takeaway. A must try cheap eat place :)

Quick service. Good Food. Fastfood chinese restaurant. Great place to catch up with friends. But place is quite small and most of the time is full. Hope they can offer more seats to accommodate more people 👍🏼
Priyanka
Used to go here a lot for the hot n spicy chicken and the deep fried pork. The food isn't the same anymore portion sizes I've noticed are much smaller. Price wise, its a good cheap eat.
Amit Tripuraneni
Service is friendly and good sometimes and not so much at other times. The thing I always go here for is their Chilli chicken - chicken that comes with dry red chillies. So nice and fiery. Great for winter days. You must try it if you are a fan of spicy food.
Mark Mclaren
Was surprised at quality and freshness of food at such budget restaurant. Their chilli chicken seems to be at all tables. Definitely best value. Restaurant lacks space though..

Cheap and filling when your awake late at night and starving<br/>Always packed with customers.<br/>Communication might be a issue sometimes but in the end they will deliver what you asked for
Hardeep Singh
Spicy still full of taste. Great place for people loving spicy, tasty, cheap and quick food. Awesome place for late night eats when everything else is shut. Always full with customers. Staff is also good and they understand what you may like. The quantity is good enough for two people. Tried the famous Tofu with spicy shezewan sauce and fried rice with eggs. Had an awesome time and the place suits to any foodie. Great Chinese food, definitely recommended. Just needs some work on little cleanliness.
I Am Hungry
We were here today and ordered chili chicken and beans with 2 rice....food was good and fresh and the place is very clean as compared to other chinese restaurants.... negatives...small place and tables are too close to each other... and is a bit pricey...parking is always a problem in dominion road...

Last time we visited the spice was lacking, the chilli chicken wasn't all that chilli. The fried rice though, they must cook their rice in chicken stock? It was so moreish. But small and cramped seating, but hey late night food.
W111
Frankly speaking, hygiene level is in doubt. I saw one of their staff making dumpling with no gloves on. By glance, his hands were dirty.. If I didn't notice that, I would've enjoyed my meal even better. The taste is full of flavour tho.
Tip Varnakomala
A Classic. The best spicy fried rice ever. <br/>$8ish for a massive plate of fried rice.<br/><br/>I came here every week or so as a first year student and for good reason. The service is perhaps a little bit inattentive but thats what you pay for i guess.<br/>Food comes out within minutes no matter how busy they are, which is amazing when youre hungry.
MJS
Average food but poor hygiene and bad service. A dangerous, inedible piece was in our food but no apology like not even a "sorry" from them and they didn't even take the dish off from our bill !! Definitely not going back there again.
Ronnie Nath
This place WAS really great for a quick bite. Its still good however the quality has definitely gone down over time. Not very fancy as far as decor is concerned. Food is good for the price and usually comes out quick. Do not expect much on the service side at that is pretty much non existent. Food is still mostly good.
Matt Smith
Was overcharged for my order, pointed out on the menu the item and the corresponding (correct) price. Woman at the counter had such a poor level of English that I couldn't even converse what I was trying to say so paid the unnecessary extra and left for time and efforts sake. Opened the meal at home and after my already bad start I was not pleased to find it under cooked. Safe to say I won't be back anytime soon..

Wow! This place sure can pack a punch in their flavours! Been wanting to come here for a while now and it finally happened. <br/><br/>The good:<br/>- Food was full of flavour<br/>- Chilli chicken was worth the hype. Definitely a must try! <br/>- salt and pepper squid had a light batter <br/>- the beef brisket noodle soup was HUGE and the noodles had good flavour and the perfect thickness<br/>- Prices were worth it <br/><br/>The bad:<br/>- service was inattentive <br/>- we originally wanted wonton noodle soup but they didn't have enough wontons. What???<br/>- MSG overload <br/>- small cramped restaurant<br/>- questionable hygiene <br/><br/>I would've rated it higher for the flavour alone but the service and the crazy MSG put me off a little.

Best place to eat cheap fast and delicious would always have you going back, yet a small restaurant it's always willing too make space for you . Can't stay take away always available 👍👍👍👌👌👌
Neel Boppana
We've been here few times and the food is nice. However, the reason we are unhappy with this place is due to their terrible customer service. Wrong food served almost every time, the servers were very rude. Also, one time we were told by a Chinese customer that they were swearing and cussing at customers for no reason in mandarin. Despicable!
Dee
Definitely a go to place after a big night out. This place opens late! Love it! Food came pretty quick. Impressive!! Beef with mushroom and their deep fried squid is a must try. Chilli chicken is not that great as it had more chilli than the chicken. Seats are pretty limited. So if you're coming with a group of people, best to phone first to check for availability otherwise you'll end up waiting outside for the next available table.
Lucille Sia
It's like our to-go-resto when we are really hungry and in the mood for not really minding what we eat. We love their deep fried squid, spicy chicken, deep fried ribs and their pork hog.<br/><br/>Service have improved throughout the years of visiting this place but don't expect world class. It has been quite a popular small place for people who love chinese food and want cheap eats. Expect a wait for finding a table but once seated service is fast! John Niño Sia

Age old fact. If the food is great, how small or big the restaurant is there will always be a long queue of food lovers waiting for a table. That's this place. An usual Chinese restaurant but the Chilli chicken served here is Auckland famous. <br/>It's one of those restaurants that's open until 5am in the morning. I have been here few times at 4am to have the Chilli chicken. Chilli chicken as the name of the restaurant IS SPICY. It's stir fried with dried red Chilli. Goes really great with chicken fried rice. Service is good. Portion is also descent. I would suggest to buy few different dishes and share. <br/>#spicy #chillichicken<br/>Will be back<br/>

So I went to this place Spicy House last night Tuesday 6th October, at about 1130 pm. I ordered my food went and sat down at a table put my stuff there then went back to the counter to look at the menu.. while I was standing the waitress went and put a reserved sign next to bag and jacket which I had placed on the table at the time I thought she was making sure no one takes my table. Oh was I wrong. Went back to the table where my stuff was the waitress then came over to me and said no I cant sit here there is 6people waiting for a table and I was like yeah but where are we going to sit (there was 3 of us in total) so the waitress literally kicked me off the table and didnt want a bar of what I was saying. My friend then walked in said bugger this. Went and sat at the other end of someone elses table where 2 people were sitting at a 4seater table which was fine.. pulled the table away from theirs a tad and grabbed another chair. So yay we have a seat.. then oucch sending a hint or what after that episode of wanting a table, they then bring our food out in take away containers. Like how rude. The food sizing was TINY literally. I was still hungry. None of the staff attempted to correct the wrongs or apologize. They just shrugged it off and walked away. I was soo annoyed, fuming. I will not be returning to this place.. no matter how bad my midnight munchies are. Shocking.

Love and hate relationship with SH! Food is great! A tad on the oily side not the heathiest food, but great for good tasting food. They cater to individuals spice levels whenever I've gone with a group of friends . Downside?- going in the evenings means always having to wait on a table cause the place is so small. Customer service needs a huge improvement considering no acknowledgement or a smile when being served. Food grade frighteningly enough always fluctuates from good to horrible. Regardless of the downsides however, they retained me as a customer with tasty food they always dish out! Great for late night munchies!

been before late nite,<br/>is very busy during 11pm at the nite time, friends recom not good for me, same fav <br/>only i like the dumping <br/>but price is good lol

A favourite amongst many students and friends of mine, this place is the best for satisfying Chinese take away and/or dumpling cravings. The inside is quite small, and I've had to wait for a table multiple times but it's definitely worth it (or you can just get takeaway). My go to order is pan friend pork and chive dumplings, and spicy chicken fried noodles. Fair warning, the noodles are pretty spicy so ask them to go easy on the spice or remove it all together if you can't handle spicy food well. The dumplings are so good and such amazing value for money. The service here is efficient and fast, although it can get super noisy inside so bear that in mind if that kind of thing bothers you.
A Tale Of Two Tummies
Food ordered: <br/>Braised Pork Hock<br/>Steamed Rice (x2)<br/><br/>Bill: $19<br/><br/>Big tummy: For my money, Spicy House is a bit of a mixed bag. If you priorititize delicious food, then SH is the place for you. If you care more about service or cleanliness (SH has been known to hold that dreaded D/E rating from time to time), then you're probably better to look elsewhere. My girlfriend loves the pork hock here, so we ended up calling in and sure enough we ordered the braised pork. The pork itself was delicious and well-cooked, with a spicy/sweet sauce and accompanying veges that complimented the dish really well. The portions of rice were also generously portioned, though for $2 per serving you'd kind of expect that anyway.<br/>Really the only criticism I have is, as mentioned in other reviews, SH is somewhat lacking in the customer service department. I didn't see a single smile from any of the waitresses, until the very last girl with whom I paid for the bill. Their food does somewhat make up for it though, so if you don't mind non-existent customer service and they happen to have an A grade food certificate on the door, they're definitely worth checking out.<br/><br/>Little tummy: I have been to Spicy House a few times in the past, with each return visit being for the braised hock. It really is that good. A perfect blend of sweet and spicy, their pork is absolutely and utterly delicious. The vegetables with the dish don't really do it for me, but my boyfriend happily ate those (after all what are boyfriends for, right?). The pork hock at SH can be a bit fatty too, but it's worth cutting off all the fat to get to the succulent meat beneath. Relatively cheap too, with us spending less than $20 and both being full, SH is a great option for a cheap, but not-so-healthy meal out.<br/><br/>UPDATE: We came back here yesterday and felt kinda obliged to change our review/rating. We ordered the combination fried noodles and spicy beef soup. We seriously couldn't stop drinking water for like 6 hours afterwards. Not due to the spiciness either, but from an overload of MSG. Hours after we got home, we still felt like our mouths were full of cotton, the food left our mouths that dry. Sad to say, cause the food tasted great, but the after-effects were really off-putting.

Its a never ending love/hate relationship with this place.<br/>I hate the service but I love the food that is only reason why I keep going back. <br/>Good/ My go to - Chilli chicken, chicken with fresh chilli, egg fried rice<br/>Bad - Service, Hygiene (this place often gets D/E food certificate)<br/>Must Try - All the items mentioned above<br/>Cost - $15pp

Absolutely delicious. 4.5/5 easily. Chicken mushroom spicy chicken chicken fried rice and bok choy all win. Nothing less than fantastic and worth my money
Jamie Lyons
Very busy but a great place to come very late for a cheap eat. Fast service and tables turn over quickly so usually if you have to wait, it's not for long. Tables are very cramped in a small dining area but food is good value, considering the large portions served.
Seriously Foodie
Spicy house should be called "Salty house".....too much salt in every dish and no spice at all. Was completely disappointed with the way the complaint was dealt with as well.......It completely deserves the E grade that it has acquired. Dirty and shabby. Won't recommend it at all.
Dulan
Food was delicious. Great value for the price. Excellent service. Unfortunately when I left look at the Auckland council grading and it was E - Unsatisfactory. Hope will change it to an A soon.
Tet
Good value for size of servings..we always come back for the hot & spicy intestines but also love their chilli chicken and hot and sour soup!

Spicy house is a really good cheap place if you love rice. I always order the deep fried pork with spicy sale and its really tasty. Rate it a 4

spicy house is DOPE. honestly. its SO good. the only reason im giving it a 4.5 is cause you have to wait for a table and when its cold outside its bleak.<br/><br/>so the MUST gets are as follows:<br/><br/>FRIED BUNS WITH SWEEt MILK - this isnt on the menu. its on the special board in the black heart and HONESTLY you NEED TO GET THESE. theyre amazing lil donut things that make u want to cry.<br/><br/>chilli chicken is great, goes well with the egg fried rice. match made in heaven if you asked me.<br/><br/>the green beans in pork mince are a great lil vege side - bloody delish<br/><br/>cucumber salad goes great with dumplings - breaks it all up a bit so you dont feel like youre gonna shit yourself halfway through the evening. <br/><br/>gong bao chicken is great - great flavours. i would recommend. <br/>beef fried noodles are also tasty as hell.<br/><br/>honestly this place is so fun to go too cause i get different things every time and THE THRILL you get when youve ordered something delicious is amazing but it suuuuucckkkss when you get something you dont like <br/>

Spicy house is famous for their spicy intestine (if you're keen to try authentic Asian delicacy, then this is a MUST-just make sure you have the stomach for it 😁) Extended business hours is also a bonus, especially if you want something greasy and deep fried in the wee hours of the morning 👍🏼

The most atrocious and worst customer service I have ever experienced. The food is bad too. I can't get over the two waitresses who look pissedoff for anyone coming in to dine, they are short-tempered and plain rude.I am not a picky eater or mean person, but in this circumstance, the experiencewas THAT bad, that I had to say something.
Duyen-Kim Nguyen
Hospitality isnt jst about the food but its also about the general dinning experience. My rating is pretty generous as Ive been in Hospitality for more than 4 years, but the rating goes to the food and ppl only come back for the food as most knw it. Costumer service needs improvement and hope one day they can expand their store, uncomfortable vibe. Recommend braised pork hock.

Spicy House is quite a small restaurant and it usually looks so full from the outside! We've found that coming a bit earlier for dinner gets us seats! One time we came around 8pm and had to wait 10-15 minutes for a table for two. <br/><br/>The food here is pretty nice! I love spicy food and so does my friend so we definitely thought this was the place to go. I used to always get the spicy chicken and vegetables to go a few years back! We got the chilli chicken, which comes out almost like popcorn chicken. This was really good! The rice was also cooked perfectly. <br/><br/>Customer service here isn't great. Once they take your order, that's pretty much it until you go up to pay. They're a bit better if you can speak chinese because it's obvious they're a lot more comfortable speaking it than english. <br/><br/>In terms of cleanliness, this place feels quite dirty. I've also had one experience when both my friend and I have had sore stomachs until the next day, after eating here. Unfortunately I'll probably still come here for the spicy food. The msg keeps us addicted. Until next time, Spicy House!<br/><br/>Sarah Reynolds  #challenge

Not my normal go to place as it is quite far away for me to travel but if you've had a long day at work or don't feel like cooking then This is the place to go to satisfy your hungry tummy! The service is not the best but not terrible either and the dishes are great value for the size you receive. My go to dish is always the crispy intestines stir fried with chilli and spring onion and the dumplings are also great too! Definitely worth a try!

Ordered takeaways here once and it was quite simply terrible. Not an enjoyable meal at all. A bad day in the kitchen? I won't know because I will not be returning.
Mat
Okay so we have been dining at this little place for years now and it has become our favourite food place. We dine here at least twice a week... Yes twice a week.. This is because they have the most amazing spicy chicken fried rice! We also like to order the chicken with fresh chilli, fried squid and chilli chicken- I think the loaded MSG fuels our addiction ;)<br/><br/>The staff can be very inattentive and there's definitely a lack of customer service (more like lack of being human with emotional awareness lol). Anyway, the food usually arrives quickly once the order is placed! It can be a little awkward and annoying when this joint is very busy as the tables are situated very closely to each other (I can clearly hear people's conversations next to me lol). <br/><br/>Once your taste buds have adapted to the spice, you'll be coming back for more! Highly recommend :D

The food is extra ordinarily spicy. Milder versions also available. The staff is overall friendly. The place needs an ambience upgrade to make it more appealing.
SS
Definitely a good choice if you're wanting cheap,<br/>fast and tasty spicy food! I usually do takeaway as I find the establishment a little cramped, loud and slightly oily, but I guess it kinda adds to the experience. <br/><br/>I highly recommend the chilli chicken. I eat it like popcorn chicken sometimes. Definitely not as spicy as it looks. The chilli's are dried and have lost most of its spice. The pork hock is a strange but super tasty dish. Definitely a must try!!!!! The salt and pepper squid, chicken fried rice and spicy pork belly are also yum dishes. <br/><br/>Spicy house is open till early hours of the morning. Quite handy ;)
Riddhi
Not my usual choice if I want to go out for food anywhere, but was dragged along by a group of friends to get takeaways. This place is small and boxlike and hardly any seats so be greatful if you get a seat here especially during peak weekend times. We came on a thursday night and it was still busy. Theres little to no ambience but the restaurant tries makes up for this in other ways, obviously not the focus of this establishment.<br/><br/>The meals are extremely cheap $8 for a meal is a ridiculously good price, especially at dinner. The portion sizes also don't reflect the price, can't call them out for being stingy. we could allow 2 people to share one meal<br/><br/>Like mentioned previously we ordered takeaway and our meals were brought to us very quickly which was good. We ordered chicken with spicy sauce, chicken fried noodles and veg fried noodles and also another dish which I cant pinpoint on the menu but was fried chicken with dried chillies. The spicy sauce chicken was the best out of the meals, everything else was reasonably okay and filling. <br/><br/>This is the place you'd come out for quick cheap takeaways and the food somewhat reflects this. Honestly I think my friends did hype this restaurant up a bit, and I really doubt i'll ever  decide to come back unless its anothers decision. Personally, I'd rather pay more and get other food.
Sananda Chatterjee
Does what it is supposed to!<br/><br/>Gives you eye watering hot food at very good prices. They aslo do it very quickly and till late. Massive portions! Perfect for cold weekends, when you get a craving at 1130pm!<br/><br/>Best spicy fried rice ever. And for less than $10!
Vivek Katial
Always an experience with the lads at spicy house. Despite the rude staff, the experience is always made with the spicy chicken. Although be wary of the chillies if you have a busy day the next day
Kishore Mitra
This place is a staple for quite a few of us. Almost never actually saw it empty. Normally have to wait outside the restaurant for our turn as its almost always full while all other restaurants in the same area are empty. Good hearty portions. Good spicy food served in almost no time and very reasonable prices. This is definitely not a go to for your "fine dining" needs.....but craving some good spicy Chinese food with a kick that is cheap? This is definitely the place. Take some mates along.....share and cover more from the menu. Highly recommended.
HJ
Spicy house, spicy food alright! If your looking for a tasty meal with a bit of kick this is the place to go! Wouldn't recommend if your not a fan of spicy food as this is there speciality. Good value for money. The place itself lacks ambience so don't expect anything too fancy or really good service. The food speaks for itself. <br/><br/>
Food Snob
I bought some spicy chow mein from Spicy House a few weeks ago, and it was heavenly. For $8, it almost felt like a bargain. I asked if they were vegan, and one of the ladies didn't know what that meant. The lady standing next to her explained what it meant in their native tongue, and they both assured me that the chow mein was vegan. I would've given it 4.5 or 5 stars, but I felt that the only thing lacking was green vegetables and there was far too much oil. Apart from that, they were great and I can't wait to go back.
Stango
Recommended: dry fried boneless chicken (with a serving of rice) and the beef brisket noodles. Cons: they charge per bowl of rice; some Chinese restaurants provide rice top ups for free. The food is generally quick but the restaurant can get quite busy so it is hard to find a seat during peak dinner hours and even in later hours of the evening.
Dawn Tetauru
Small restaurant expect not to dine in when u get there. LOVE the food here, my favorite is the spare rib hot pot and green beans with pork mince. Eat here almost every week! 4.0 rating due to the service sometimes and the amount of oil in the food. Otherwise my preferred late night feed (open early hours of the a.m)

Food 4<br/>Value 3.5<br/>Atmosphere 2<br/>Service 2.5<br/><br/>This restaurant is busy as always, food are great tho. Ordered Pork trotter slightly spicy and its very delicious, you can tell the trotter has been cooked for a long time so all the ingredients, sauce and herbs got into the bone of it yum yum yum. The place is pretty packed as always, feels like 20+ People squeezing in a tiny cube .

Spicy House is the ultimate late night eats spot. Open into the wee hours, Spicy House attracts a diverse crowd.<br/><br/>I've seen some interesting characters there at various hours including those who've had a bit too much to drink, the table of friends who almost came to blows & I heard an interesting tale a few months back about a waitress having a tantrum one night. But don't let this put you off. Spicy House is worth the drama, especially after a night out.<br/><br/>Sometimes it gets a bit busy, one night (or rather early morning) we got takeaways and dined by cellphone light at nearby Potter's Park as the place was packed & we were starving.<br/><br/>It's definitely not a flash place to eat, but service is fast & the food is very good.<br/><br/>My all-time favourite dish was the Spicy Pork Belly. It has thin slices of pork belly, leeks, chillies & onion & a delicious spicy sauce. It can be a bit salty if you eat it on it's own, so I recommend you order some plain rice or fried noodles to accompany it.<br/><br/>Recently I tried the deep fried spare ribs & I must say I enjoy these ten times more than the spicy pork belly. Delicious! If you haven't tried them yet, I highly recommend you do on your next visit.<br/><br/>Other dishes I've tried include the huge braised pork hock, which wasn't quite my thing. The meat was beautifully tender, but the flavours were a bit strong for my liking. And the spicy tofu with vegetables, which is pretty good for a vegetarian dish.<br/><br/>The chicken fried noodles here are tasty & cheap, the green beans with pork mince are fairly good too, although you can't beat nearby Barilla's green beans.<br/>I also tried the fried squid which wasn't as tasty as nearby Glitter Takeaways, but the others seemed to enjoy it.<br/><br/>And lastly, if you're after very cheap eats the Gong Bao chicken is decent & at $8 for the single serving with rice it's great value.<br/><br/>Update: More recently I tried the pork spare rib hot pot. This is delicious and comes out still sizzling in a little black pot.<br/><br/>Also tried the Chilli Chicken - not that spicy despite the name, but pretty salty & moreish. My friend declared this her new favourite dish.<br/>I thought it was nice enough, but prefer the pork dishes - deep fried pork spare rib, spare rib hot pot & spicy pork belly. But then, pork is kinda my thing :)

Been here many times ..all the time you go busy place and so far food is no complaints..always nice whatever we had ...hot and spicy chicken curry and fried rice is my fav here . But always be very careful when you do a takeaways..chance are high of you getting wrong dish, happened with me twice ..you order something and you get something..I was really very disappointed last night when I got a wrong dish.

Good food. Great variety. Super value. Ultimate Chilli Chicken. So many fun things to eat - you can't help looking at the next tables order to try and figure out what it is and to burn it to memory so you can order it next time.<br/><br/>***edit: portions magically shrunk since last I was here. Not so happy anymore. Downgrading to 3,5

Great food and great service. I love how they are open till late. As many others have said, I wish their place would be bigger so more people can dine in. But still awesome! New favorite place!
Olivia Jane McInnes
This place is awesome, always get a great meal, the staff a friendly, Would be nice if the area itself was bigger so more people can dine, but otherwise it's my fav, and I am back on my way there as I'm typing this!
Tori_93
Ordered two dishes and by the time I was there it was quite packed (not surprised though). Ordered quickly server was good and then decided to wait outside as there is no waiting area but that's okay! Knew that it was quite busy as people were now waiting outside to get a table and I knew my meal would take quite a while to dish up. Eventually went inside to get food and a lovely lady ran to me to hand over my meals. <br/>Loved the food and will have leftovers for lunch tomorrow! Well definitely go back to try other dishes!
Lok Yan Tham
I love the beef in spicy sauce dish here! It's ultimate comfort food. It's always super packed so I would recommend to book beforehand. There isn't really any service so don't expect much but the food is good and it is also very cheap. Portion sizes are quite big and it's definitely a place I'd recommend for a group of people.
Grace Sifa
this place is always packed and usual has a line outside.. very small inside and not much space but it's all about the food .. I always order the spicy beef gravy which is perfect for late night cravings which goes down great the next morning for breakfast.. if your after spicy food .. this is the place!
EssJay
Food tastes great but this is one of those places which is open till the wee hours of the morning. Ownership has recently changed in the last few years but that hasn't had much impact on the influx of hungry customers. Please note their food standard certificate is pretty low!
Chin And Prony Powichitkul
Good food but typical chinese dine out service which sometimes can be hard as the waitresses can never understand you. Their famous chilli chicken and pork hock are a must try. Not the best place for people who are against MSG though as they do use quite a fair amount that you can see it with naked eyes. Can't really complain much for the price we pay. Still love their food whatsoever.
Warrick Corfe-Tan
Pretty inconsistent with quality. Staff were a bit hard to understand to an english speaker. On good nights it's good value for money. I recommend sizzling black pepper beef. Good choice of if you're drunk after going out and need some food.

Great food, cheap price, as long you can have a "bucket" of egg fried rice for $7 then Life is good. definitely will come back for more. Thanks spicy House.
Tanz
Cheap, big and fast but NOT tasty.<br/><br/>The food 'looks' spicy but it's actually not spicy like how it looks. <br/><br/>Good for quantity but not for quality...
Juvy Asco
Awesome food selection and great taste but you have to finish your food as fast as you can as since the place is really busy they want you to go as soon as you can so they can accommodate the next customer.

Spicy House has been one of our favourite Asian food restaurants! Our favourite dishes are the 'Hot and Spicy Chicken' alongside the 'Spicy Fried Rice'. Fast service and the fact that it's open till late makes it very accessible especially after a night out. <br/>But was utterly dismayed quite recently when we bought home some 'Spicy Fried Rice' and found that the rice used was spoilt. Here is hoping it is a one-off episode, and it won't come down to me inspecting my takeaways prior to leaving the restaurant?<br/>Don't want to miss out on the amazing Asian food at Spicy House which I know for a fact is one of the best in Auckland City but will the risk be worth it? <br/>
Shruti Pathak
There's something about their chicken chilly!! It's crisp it's hot and its a lot!!! Nothing better than spicy house to curb that spicy craving! Great service! fast fresh and delicious! Goooo spicy house!
Jayden Campbell
Always a favourite for a late night dinner. Service is very fast and the portion sizes are very generous for the price. More seating would be ideal as Spicy House is quickly becomming an attraction for the hungry folks out late.
JJJiiiiAn
Spicy house opens until late night! Food was very good for the price, fast service. Full and happy!Cannot ask for more than that ! Will come back to get some takeaways •~•
Mike
Clearly place deserved "cheap eats" badge. As mentioned before already it's for those who care about quality and quantity and not about fancy paintings and live music. Great food and friendly staff. Go there quite regularly and never been disappointed.
Jason Paul Garcia
If you love spicy food and ultra fast service then Spicy Food House is for you. Would highly recommend the Deep Fried Squid, Deep Fried Spare Ribs and the Bean Sprouts are to die for.
Scha
Good and cheap food and very fast service! Quantity is super, great for a large or small group, very economical, and the food quality and taste is great! Open pretty much all the time! Can't go wrong with spicy house!
Mat Randomplay
Great service, friendly people, accommodating with children. The deep fried squid is consistently great, really liked the spicy beef pot and the pork hock. Here, banzai and new flavour are my faves in the area.
Jack Dang
Perfect place for that chiness and spicy food combination. And the best thing about this place, it opens till morning. Perfect for that super late snacks. However don't expect too much with the services of the place as it is more like a take out restaurant. It's really busy most of the time and only 2-3 people are working at night. Best dishes are deep fry squids and Chily chicken. 2.5 / 5 for me
Kezia Lobo
I eat here often. We have had the pork and chives pan fried dumplings, spicy pork bellies, hot n spicy chicken & deep fried squid are awesome picks on the menu. The food can sometimes be a miss and I think it's because of two different cooks.

Something different from the Chinese food which I have in india... Was good and had a great time. The only place open till late in auckland

If you're after purely great food, never mind the service - than Spicy House is the place to be. This place is my Go-To for sobering up after a good night out in town. There are tonnes of food to choose from on the menu and displayed on the walls. You can tell the staff have built a great repoire with the locals as I've never seen an empty Spicy House before, even during the day. I'm being a little selfish when I say this, but I'm glad Spicy House is not in Auckland CBD and it's just around the corner from where I live. It just goes to show that you DON'T need to go to town to get good food, it's all here lined up on Dominion Road you just gotta find it. Cheers SH for looking after and feeding our drunks every weekend. You guys rock!
Honeydev333
One of my fav places to eat at night they make it deliciously spicy and prices are modest have been going to this place since last 5 yrs love their food ...
Rose
It says on the window that these guys are "The Spicy Experts", and they don't lie. I saw the police getting a feed from here the other night, and obviously they only trust experts to make their food. Attentive service - we received updates on our expected waiting time for takeaway food, which was really nice. Good food at a good price, lots of hot chillies, my broiled heaven. We had deep fried squid, it was sah nice.
Tanushree Sharma
Well first of all I will say that I can handle seriously spicy food but the spice quotient in their food was beyond endurance. Ordered capsicum chicken and chicken fried rice and what I got was chicken fried noodles and when I questioned them they got really upset and said I must have made some mistake. Well I decided to walk out of there and the moment I had a bite,Man my mouth was on fire. I didn't know medium meant extremely hardcore spicy. Anyways I'm never going back. Chicken dish at $14 is way too expensive for the quantity they give, I didn't mind the noodles though but the spice nearly killed me.

Go here regulary for Takeaway now, but not tried a lot, I cant normally go past the Chicken with fresh chilli :)  and the shrimp fried rice,    Once I said chilli chicken and got something else, which was very nice.  Enjoy it each timne, and my new regular
Seb Yuntian Liu
Food quality has degraded over the years. Last time I was here, the chilli chicken and fried rice was so salty you could see the crystals. Be Warned.

One of my favourite restaurants in Balmoral/Auckland, I have being going there now for over 10 years!.<br/>Tasty, value for money, delightful nice lovely staff, very hard workers. Always busy...that's ok order in advance...I love &amp; rate high 5!<br/>(Wang Wang Spring Pancake Restaurant further down &amp; on other side of Dom Road is on a par for yum value quality factors)
Nick Herd
Prices have gone up, quality has gone down. Takeaway order came to just under 90 dollars. We ordered and paid for a pork hock, but obviously they were out of stock and instead of telling us decided just to give us two of one of the dishes we had already ordered. The cucumber was just over salted, the fresh chilli chicken wasn't hot, the beef tenderloin was gluggy, had virtually no beef in it, and the sauce had no flavor while the pork dishes both had a horrible metallic after taste, and the texture was like that cheap reconstituted meat you get in the real budget places. Don't waste your money.

Was going to try another cheap eats place on this road but before entering... low and behold... a D grade food hygiene rating... moving on... why can't places along this road conform to modern western hygiene standards? Maybe up your prices a dollar a dish and spend some time on basic hygiene measures!

Went to Spicy House on Saturday Night Feb 2014 cos Canton was booked out and I read some reviews on here. Unfortunately it was a $68 disaster. We had a rice with beef dish..nice but to salty, I ordered chili chicken, so salty I couldn't eat it, My friend ordered won ton soup..the won tons were uncooked and doughy and inedible plus seaweed and soy sauce in the soup made it so salty it was undrinkable, my partner ordered a shrimp dish which she did not like either, so ordered the alternative deep fried shrimp to take away, got it home and it turned out to be the same dish she got at the restaurant..I can't see me going back..strange the reviews are so mixed, apparently different chefs work there, maybe some good some bad!!
Mary Underwood
Very cheap and cheerful.<br/>Loved the chicken and mushrooms Not sure what others expect for such a inexpensive eatery but you certainly get value for money with huge portions.<br/>Sign of a good restaurant is when it's full. <br/>Worth a visit.
John Lee
Terrible service, waitress was obviously having a bad day so was very impatient when we were still deciding what to order although this place only had 5 other customers when I was there. 3 dishes come to $42 with an extra $4 levied on us as ‘rice charge’. Dine here if you can put up with substandard service and expensive dishes. I will never ever go back there again.
Amy Cullen
My favourite restaurant. Tasty cheap fast food with a honest hardworking staff. Always too busy, (which is a sign they are so good) sometimes hard to get a space but the turnover is preety quick if you can wait a bit.
Gom Gam
My favorite restuarant so far I go there with my partner almost everyweek if you love spicy food you would love this restuarant . Spare Ribs with foil , pork hock, spicy chicken ( boneless ) Alot more;) give it a try you gonna love this place,
Holly
I had about 6 dishes at Spicy House. It had been 4 years since I had been away from Auckland. Returning back and seeing this restaurant - I had to stop. We were 4 in our group. We ordered Green beans with pork, chili chicken, Lamb cumin, Dumplings, and some other dishes I can't remember. OMG!! It was so delectable! I live in the South Island where good Chinese food is bloody rare! So for 4 people - it was also a bloody good deal! The service was great. Now for all the people that don't know Asian- be patient. Order, verify and communicate in a worldly way (hand gestures helpful). Kindness gets you a long way.<br/><br/>If you are into hot n' spicy - give this place a go when in Auckland - simply marvelous! Cheers!
Jack
we been last night for take away. relatively small place, reasonable price, good value for the money. and they just took only 10 mints to get ready with the food!. no credit card payment so either EFPOS or cash.
Ken Choong
Five stars! Only when they have the right chef cooking... 4 out of 5 times i've been served divine food until one day we went and got a different chef<br/><br/>Food was undercooked and too salty! I asked if they've changed their chef but apparently there are two chefs rostered for different days<br/><br/>The place is very basic, very simple, but Other than that, definitely A++ when the right chef is on

Spoilt for choice along this part of Dominion Rd however Spicy House is one of the best. The food is authentic chinese completely diferent from what you get down the road. I have been a customer for the past 6 years and the food has remained the same. I believe it has had a new lick of paint and the front signage has also had a wee facelift. When I first stumbled across S/H the patrons consisted of chic fashionable young asian, however the last time I went, and I must say we just missed the rush, there was cross culture of patrons so the word has got out about this little beauty. You go to S/H for the experience, you could just about be sitting in a small eatery in China. It's fast paced and fast chinese food at it's best. Don't worry about the service if you think they are unengaging, they are feeding you good stuff and at the end when the lady puts the takeaway containers and plastic bags on the table pack the food yourself, it's not hard. As I get ready to pay and leave I give the lady a pleasant and satisfied smile a universal language and I think she think gets the message that I will be back.

We come here sooooo often that it is a bit embarrassing really... We're on a first name basis with the owner. The food is absolutely amazing! The service is excellent too! They are great people, very friendly and attentive. We recommend the mapo tofu, the deep fried pork rib, hot and spicy chicken, pork with spicy taste and spicy calamari. All truly heavenly!
Guann
always get takeout from here, nice food and very fast. it quite surprise me when we ordered 9 dishes on Friday night, only took 20 minutes! recommended!
Colin Sue
Food is good, cheap and service is frickin quick. Awesome place to eat spicy. No 5 star cos they only have limited seating.
Rosie
A great place to go after a night out as it's open till 5am. Its a bit run down but if you don't mind chipped crockery the food is awesome. Generous sizes and very tasty. Best dishes we have tried are the gong Bo, pork belly, deep fried spare ribs and the ultra spicy chicken stir fry. Very popular place so don't be surprised if its busy even at midnight. It's one of the best.
Manu Viswan
Good Chinese food. Cheap, and open till late night.
Fay Bao
The environment there is terrible, the food is terrible and greasy, the service attitude is terrible.<br/><br/>The only reason for I came to there is they open till late.
Tash
The deep fried squid is absolutely beautiful. Deep fried perfectly and is spicy and salty. Also priced so cheaply for the amount given.
Jess
Might not have the best look or service but heck the food here is sooo yummy! Love their chicken with Satay Sauce. Best thing is that they are open really late....makes for great cheap post drink meal!

THIS PLACE RULES GET FRIED SQUID CHICKEN FRIED RICE AND BLACK PEPPER CHICKEN SO GOOD AND CHEAP BIG SIZES OPEN TILL 4AM

We've had takeaways from here a couple of times now. The food is tasty and pretty spicy, although I think some of the dishes could be a little spicier considering the name of the restaurant!<br/>Tonight's takeaway included the spare ribs with foil (strange name - spare ribs cooked/served in foil), hot and spicy chicken, and beef with cumin. The sauce that came with the ribs was nice and spicy, although the ribs could have been a little more tender. The chicken was delicious, with a good combination of dried and fresh chillies. We were a little disappointed with the beef though - the beef seemed a bit over-tenderised and so the texture was a bit odd. Also, we expected the dish to be a bit drier. I would have preferred it to have some chilli with it too.<br/>It's easy for restaurants to get lost in the crowd on Dominion Road, but Spicy House always seems to be modestly busy. A decent eat that's kind to your wallet.
Carmella @ Easy Food Hacks
The menu at Spicy House seems more edited compared to other similar eateries, and there is a helpful ‘Top Dishes” list on the whiteboard along with some specials. And if you are really lost, there are also some pictorials on the wall. Spicy House lives up to its self-declared 'Spicy food expert'; most dishes are cooked with ‘spicy sauce’, else has fresh or dried chillies in its list of ingredients. This is deceiving though, as most of the dishes we got were mild, though I'm sure you could ask them to dial up the heat if you prefer.<br/><br/>We pondered over what to eat, which was probably why the server took a while to warm up to us. She was the picture of efficient, brusque and busy, but towards the middle of our meal, I think she even cracked a smile.<br/><br/>My favourite dish on the menu so far is the deep-fried ribs ($15). We were pleasantly surprised when a piping hot rack of spare ribs arrived, - tender, juicy pork encased in a crispy batter. The deep-fried tofu with spicy sauce ($12) looked intimidating with the liberal sprinkling of chilli pieces, chilli flakes and a layer of chilli oil. However, this was actually more of a warming sensation on the tongue, and the flavours were well-balanced.<br/><br/> The deep-fried squid ($15) seemed somewhat bland, though the squid was reasonably tender. I seldom see on choy (water spinach, $15 on the specials menu) on offer at Chinese restaurants, which is typical fare at Malaysian and Singaporean restaurants. The on choy was sautéed with garlic, simple, and very tasty. This was the highlight of the meal for some of the Dumpling Club members. <br/><br/>For the rest of the review and more photos, see: http://easyfoodhacks.blogspot.co.nz/2013/12/spicy-house-balmoral-auckland.html

Perfect hangout place after a night out. The service is prompt and food is always served hot. Been here a couple of times with friends, I was never disappointed. However, the atmosphere is standard. Definitely not a place where you would want to dine in with family. Overall, good food, great service but I would prefer takeaways than dining in.
Lenn Jhay To'o
The calamari was perfect. Right amount of flavour and cooked just right. The sweet and sour pork was plain, and too sweet. The Chicken fried rice was average. Service was standard. The calamari is worth the wait.
