Review Lone Star New Lynn - Auckland

The service was friendly the food was delicious .Lamb rump was cooked to perfection...so tender! and portion size was more than enough. My mum loved her caesar salad too. Will definitely return with the family :)

Second time we've been here for a work function.. they are very accommodating. Food was amazing! Tho some long waits for some meals but they were very busy for a Sunday so understandable plus they did communicate this to us and super friendly too. Would definitely go back.

My time at lone star New Lynn was great!!! I highly recommend this place. I had to change out some things in my meal, and they happily did it, no extra cost. The restaurant is vibrant and warm. The food came quickly and was nice, and the waiter asked how we were. The service is great, and it's a reasonable price too. They have an app where you get points for money spent, and I can't wait to go back and get 15 dollars off me next meal.

Staff are friendly and the food are also good. I also appreciate the quick service since our order didn’t take long to arrive despite the restaurant being fully booked.

Been to it every time we visit NZ. The portions are generous and the food is great. I do love a good Banofee Pie and they did not disappoint either.

Went here for dinner after years. Thought we would try it out. Costed us $90 to chew on a bit of rope found in our steak sauce. Have no idea how a piece of rope was in there, but it was and was not pleasurable to come across. What was even more disappointing is we politely let the waitress know and her response was "I am sorry about that I will let the chef know" - she never came back to us. As we went up to pay, we let the sir at the counter know about our experience. All he said is that I'll let the kitchen know. Terrible service. But at least the company was great and the meal was still tasty. I have put 1 star because I think the simplest form of customer service you should expect, is to be able to receive food at a high standard when you pay $40 for a meal, and receive a high level of customer service. We got given a loyalty card with a receipt...hell no we will not be back and would not recommend this place!

Fantastic people and service, delicious food and a wonderful atmosphere. Our party all had tricky dietary issues and the staff were very understanding and accommodating, I would highly recommend this restaurant to my friends and family.

We have been here a number of times and have never been disappointed. The food is always delicious! Most recently we came on Mothers Day and even though it was really busy, we still received excellent service, along with some free chocolates. It was also my sons birthday and he got a free T shirt. We love this place and will recommend it to anyone and will be back many times

Had a lovely meal last night for my Daughters Birthday. 6 of us dining. Great food, super friendly staff, easy parking. Will definately be back Thanks so much

Had dinner at Lone Star New Lynn last night. We had the loaves with garlic butter for starters - delicious as always bread was hot, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside with heaps of garlic butter and the sirloin for main with red wine sauce cooked medium rare with fries over buffalo chips!! Delicious!!!! Way better than the last time we ate at Lone Star which was over a year ago!

Went to this place on Sunday and it was complete shit. Service was not good at all waited an hour for our entrees the mains were burnt and even our dessert took a while to be brought to the table and they forgot my ice cream how can you forget ice cream then when I went to pay they tried to over charge me. Just a totally shit night of service and utter kaos will not be stepping foot in this place again.
Lou Irvine
We went there for our 9th wedding anniversary. Lovely food and wonderful staff and friendly. Thanks for the t-shirts. Thank you for a great night. :-)
Ashley Efaraimo
Food was lovely as usual. I regrettably dont have the name of our main waitress last night but she was awesome! They were some mix up on the a main but she was quick to correct that and the wait time after that wasn't long at all. She also offered us a complimentary option for the mix up.Which was not necessary but showed us great customer care. Thank you New Lynn Staff

Ribs here are an absolute must try. I’ve heard good reviews about their banoffee pie too but unfortunately didn’t get the chance to order them. Next time for sure.

3.5/5 Rating.<br/><br/>Decent portion sizes. The food was nicely plated. I love their coleslaw. It's so full of flavour and just delicious.

Had been to lone star many years back. Decided to go back again and it’s still the same great food and great service, the portions was huge. First time trying banofee pie and that tasted amazing. Definitely will go back.
Sarah Henderson
Very tasty huge meals. Helpful and friendly staff and manager. Great range of food for everyone. Vegetarian included. Will be back again and again

We had the venison was tasty and succulent. The chicken on the other hand was a little on the dry side however tasty. We did have to wait a while despite having a booking and when you're there with kids wait time is a little difficult. If there was something to entertain kids whilst waiting or dining would be great.
Willy
Service was awfull. Waited over 30 mins to be seated after booking time was stuffed up by them. Then waited another 1 hour for food to be served. Awful service and staff were rude and arrogant. Would not recomend and will not be returning ever again
Coco Baangz
I paid $33 for ribs that were described for the gods to eat. But what I got were scraps. The presentation was a mess it's like you guys just got all the left overs from the day before, reheat it and threw it in a container with sauce to be sent with the Uber eats driver. Not to mention the fact that the ribs were cold when I got them

Me and my partner came for dinner on a friday night. We both ordered the Texas Paris Steak which was amazing! Hands down one of the best steaks i have had! For desert i ordered a banana split which was light and yummy! 10/10 for both. I would give 5 stars however we did wait a while for both courses. We entered at 5:30 and left at 7:40 so the wait was really a let down, other then that everything was awesome! Great customer service 10/10

The servers and FOH were great 👍🏽 their service was quite slow though 😅 we had gone on a Sunday evening, they weren’t very busy but for our table of four, we had to wait just over 40mins for our food. I ordered the rockin rib eye 🥩 the portion of meat was good, and cooked well but didn’t taste like it was seasoned. The mushroom sauce was meh, but the chips were nice 😋 overpriced though in terms of quality
Libby
Service excellent, food excellent, dessert delicious, found out you can do takeaway desserts, only slight problem, two steaks were meant to be medium and one rare, all three were rare<br/>

A great restaurant for larger groups and family get togethers/celebrations.<br/>I think the good thing about lone star is you always know what you’re going to get.<br/>The meals are good and wholesome. They’re tasty and I guess predictable if you’ve been there a few times - but I think that’s what’s good about it - you just know what you’re going to get and there’s little to no variation in the taste, quality or standard.

Been to this Lone star, a couple of times now.<br/><br/>Food portion sizes are decent but a bit too expensive for my liking if i may say so.<br/><br/>Taste can definitely be improved ☑️<br/><br/>Normally order the dixie chick and the ribs but they weren't up to my satisfaction compared to the first time i went there + the food took almost 25 minutes to come.Other than the food, the staff were friendly and polite.<br/><br/>But don't think i would be going back there anytime soon 😔<br/><br/>Atmosphere: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️<br/>Food: ⭐️⭐️<br/>Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️<br/>Price : ⭐️⭐️

It was our first time dining at the New Lynn branch and will definitely be our last too. Our starter (Quesedilla) took around 30mins to arrive and to top it off, it had HAIR on it. No other compensation other than replacement was given, which took around 30 mins again to arrive and the staff would try to avoid our table if we were to follow up — she’d looked at me when I had my hand up but would dodge to the next table and have her back faced on our table, the rest of the waitresses would just avoid eye contact. When we were about to leave, the mains arrived (after around half an hour of getting our 2nd Quesadilla) so we decided to have them for takeaway instead. <br/><br/>Pros: We were seated right away upon arrival.

Everytime ive been to lone star it has been such a pleasant experience, the food is always amazing and never disappoints. The staff are also super friendly. Would definitely recommend :)

Went here last Friday night with my partner. Place was pretty busy, ordered San Quentin Squid for starters, Dixie chicken for my partner and Stir Crazy Sirloin for me. The presentation was really good, chicken and squid was yummy but my sirloin was kinda bland maybe because i asked for a well done, chunky mushroom sauce was superb tho. Will definitely come back.<br/>

My first ever experience at any Lonestar restaurants. Ribs were so delicious! I also tried the ribeye steak and it was cooked perfectly. Jack Daniel's Fudge for dessert was so good and delicious but I wasn't a fan of the Banofee pie which was served with no ice cream which I didnt realised when ordered. Banofee pie just felt like something was missing.<br/><br/>Service was a real let down. Felt like it took an hour for our food to be served plus we had children with us so they were getting restless. It was obvious there was not enough staff last night and because of that, ambience is busy and uneasy for me. It really changes the dining experience. We were a large number and they would be short of things like handwashing bowls for those with ribs. Also didnt bring straws for the kids drinks. Most of our time was spent waiting.<br/><br/>One of the staff even fully screamed at one of our tweens (as in pre-teen) infront of us for running which is understandable but I think very unprofessional as an employee, he should have approached us parents as child felt very humiliated. But trust me we were growling our own kids about settling down but when cousins get together, kids just love to play up. I would easily have given 5stars if there were enough staff and my kid didnt get yelled at by staff. I would love to come back during offpeak hours.

Im a lone star freak i love there food. 1st time trying new lynn though and i was so dissapointed ordered some chicken wings to start with they were so very dry hardly any sauce. Also ordered 12 rack of ribs an again dry not alot of sauce at all an really slack on the potatos. Dessert i ordered a choc fudge cake pretty much no choc sauce again DRY. So dissapointed but wont stop me from enjoying lone star else where.

You know exactly what you're getting when you go to Lone Star.<br/>Ordered the San Quentin Squid, Rock The Boat and the Hero Burger. All meals were absolutely delicious. Staff were friendly and easy to deal with. Interior was warm and cosy. Location itself is almost tucked away near the corner of Clark and Great North; such that I almost missed it! There is easy enough parking nearby.
The Scarfoodie
Ordered something new! Midnight nachos-a Mexican dish which I never tend to gravitate towards. However it was a lovely surprise, it was a great starter! Firstly the portion size for a starter is very good, it’s the size of a normal main meal in my opinion if I wasn’t sharing between two then I definitely wouldn’t have been able to continue to the main course. The topping to corn chip ratio is also just right, it didn’t seem like they were trying to be stingy at all. The blend of sour cream with beef and spicy beans were delicious and not overpowering, the taste savory and moist, never bland. Only when eaten with the jalapeños could you taste the spicyness erupting in the mouth. <br/>8.5/10<br/><br/>I will get ribs forever! It is literally my go to meal at lone star, you can’t go wrong. These were literally what got me into spare ribs as a dish! The redneck ribs are literally the perfect size and shape. The sauce is rich and a great accompaniment to the meat and there is just the right amount. Although the meat does not fall off the bone, I personally love this-I like to chew and take my time digging into my meal. The meat although chewy is still tender and moist, not at all drying, even st the ends or sides of the rib. I also prefer when ribs are served individually rather than a in a block. Sometimes the pieces will also have an extra juicy chunk and that makes it even tastier! It’s served with the classic coleslaw salad and potatoes. These were just average, potatoes can be a bit dry and not crisp and the salad is alright, not special but the good thing is that it’s not soggy and the sauce doesn’t pool. <br/>8.5/10<br/><br/>The reason why I’m not giving five stars is because I feel that the menu is too set with not much variety and lacks to cater for a wider population. Also I’m still saving five stars waiting for the day I come across ribs that completely blows my mind!!

Like the atmosphere.<br/>Pork rib is my favorite!!!!!!!!!<br/>Very big portion, I think it’s enough for 2 girls!!!<br/>Good quality good service good environment. High recommend

We used to love Love star especially the one in Taupo. Yesterday we tried the New Lynn branch, we were bit disappointed. We noticed the seafood menu has lesser option. The menu prices has slightly increased and the portion obviously smaller . Worst part is now they even charge when you pay with visa card, which never happen before! We definitely will consider coming again as it's not worth for a casual dinner.

Attended on a non-busy day. Initial service was great till ordering. Then it became a waiting game. Which luckily I had company.<br/>Ordered the citrus chicken with spuds. Ribs and flash fried squid.<br/><br/>First of all the squid looks like pre brought rings (horrible) then coated in their own batter mix which honestly soaked up their unchanged oil which presented darker than normal and gave it a burner taste. Absolutely horrible experince.<br/><br/>Chicken was fine.. Nothing juicy which should be (74-75 degree) then served.. Honestly was expecting juicy as the waiting time I assumed they plucked it out back and freshly butchered the thing and cooked to order. No marinate in chicken just plain with a relish on top. Really. Boring.<br/><br/>Ribs are just standard I'm glad lonestar new Lynn didn't screw up the only thing that made Lone star. Must be the standardised menu tehehee<br/><br/>I grew nise hairs while waiting for the food and left disappointed. I stopped at maccas for a desert satisfaction from disappointment.<br/>

Friendly staff, servings are quite big for 2 and should be fine for a group, reasonable price, cozy place and food’s yum specifically their ribs. I will definitely go back and dine again to this place.

Love dining here! Especially for the Dixie Chicken😍 but honestly the wait of one hour is not worth it. The amount of time we’ve booked here , we’ve all waited for 1hour plus. I’m sorry it didn’t seem too busy on those days either. Damn missed out on those marks. The food is always delicious😍 so hmm maybe work on that time frame :) xx
Faye
Location easily found. Good parking spaces to the right side of resto. Ambiance like western texas feel but a bit dark to my liking. Service was great 👌🏼 Very efficient and attentive staff. Both appetizers my husband and I had were delicious although a little pricey. The pork ribs were a little bit dry though. We could use more sauce for ribs I guess. 😔 Yummy mocktail. 🍹 Overall, still delicious and will still come back. Might have to try something else aside from the ribs. 🙂

This place is SHIT!!! Waiters are so arrogant i could not explain. I ordered one drink which I didn’t liked and straight away i told them to change it. They just denied for that giving explanation that it was written what’s inside the drink bla bla bla!!! <br/>Personally what i think they should listen to costumers and should provide them what the exactly want special if someone is coming for the first time!<br/><br/>Washroom is so slippery and unhygienic. They don’t even have foam soap in the machine. <br/>Not a good service!! For the PRICE!
Selina Roy
Amazing food , generous portions and friendly service. Desserts are so delicious, loved the banoffie pie. Mostly the atmosphere and music is so unique and love the saddles in the bar 🙂

food is average, service is good. <br/>not a good place, a little bit uncomfortable with the chair<br/>i may come back again, but not 5 star recommended

We ordered redneck ribs for entree, maverik fillet for my main and gerhard burger for my husband's main.<br/><br/>Ribs sauce was delicious but the ribs itself is very dry and chewy.<br/>Maverick fillet - "premium" fillet was overcooked to the point that it was bitter (ordered medium rare), picture attached. Vegetables also very dry and unappetizing.<br/>Gerhard burger - surprisingly better than the steak<br/><br/>I was going to send the steak back but I didn't, considering that it took 45 minutes for our mains to came out and it was already 9pm.

This is the first restaurant I've gone to when I arrived here in New Zealand around July last year. With sentimentality, I decided to celebrate my birthday and my first year anniversary here once again. I am really grateful for the staff of Lone Star New Lynn for making my birthday dinner very special. Shout out to their manager Vicky for the excellent customer service. Accommodating staff, great food, and wonderful ambience! Thank you for the birthday shirt and dessert as well. Their ribs and prawns are highly recommended.

Have been to Lone Star numerous times, at different locations, namely in Queenstown, Taupo, New Lynn and Botany Town.<br/><br/>Their food standards at these various locations are similar, which is a very plus point. At these different stores, their foods were all as awesome, staff were all very friendly and efficient, the environments and atmospheres were as nice, neat, clean and cosy.<br/><br/>Lone Star is definitely one of my most favourite restaurants in NZ!<br/><br/>Food & Beverage : 10/10<br/>Service : 9/10<br/>Price : 7/10<br/>Ambience : 9/10<br/>

Recently dined here for a 21st birthday dinner. Staff were lovely, drinks were flowing, food was delish. Garlic loaf for entree, johnny cash chicken with mushroom and milky bar pudding with ice cream. I left very satisfied and would be happy to visit again. Marked down a star, for awkward parking.

Loving the soundtrack, I couldn’t help but hum along and bop a little bit in our booth. Our waitperson Tessa was an absolute delight, and made our visit. All the staff were lovely and friendly. Now... the food. The usual Auckland pricing. The chicken nibbles were sticky heaven (a finger bowl came along) and were polished off double quick, The New Yorker enjoyed the ribs, even though they were a little dry, an excellent deal if you share the large plate with your companion. My salmon was tasty and correctly. cooked, the usual portion size but the veggies were a little on the light side: 4 green beans, one broccoli stem, one small potato, with a yummy sauce and crispy capers. We recommend the Jack Daniels self saucing pudding, yum! The Moscow Mule was very disappointing however. If we were craving ribs we’d definitely come back. Or to visit with Tessa.

Food portions are huge (& delicious) & worth every cent ! Who doesn’t love lone star. Perfect place to pair a sneaky mojito with your meal aswell ! Love !

Revisited with my husband . Had been a while. Our favourite dishes were very tasty . We felt very welcome and the table service was excellent . Thank you

This place has a beautiful countryside ambience and the music was on point. Seems like a perfect place to spend a chill friday night. The food quality and taste exceeded my expectations and the price was pretty reasonable. The Jack Daniel's chocolate fudge dessert was delicious and it is definitely worth it. The staff was very friendly and the service provided was very very good. So, go ahead and try it out!!!!

I went here for dinner last night with my partner, the food was exceptional, as always. Our meals came out quite promptly which I was pleased about. My waitress was super friendly and helpful. We had three courses over the night (one starter, two mains and three desserts - don’t judge me, it was too hard to choose just one!) and each dish was delicious, my favourite of the night being the white chocolate, Kahlua and Moro bar cheese cake. There was a power outage near the end of the night(yay Auckland weather) and the manager at the time was extremely friendly and handled the situation exceptionally, considering the circumstances (hence deserving a 5 star review). Great food and exceptional food, I’ll be back for sure.
Hangrygirl
This is the best lone star in Auckland! The staff are so friendly and the food service is quick. The Dixie chicken is my fave as well as the rockin ribeye! If you’re looking for a place with great food and huge portions then come here you’ll end up leaving with food to take home.

Tonight we went to lonestar for my mothers birthday dinner.<br/>The water was about 25% ice to water ratio. The temperature of the water was average.<br/>The lemon was a nice touch and the glasses were clean and were an ok size.<br/>Coke took 15 min and the ice ratio and temperature was perfect, will definitely come her if I'm dying from thirst.<br/>They also have bendy straws

I ordered lone star via Uber eats and even though it wasn’t dining in at the restaurant the food was still just as great as it was if I had gone to the restaurant. Was served fresh and hot still. I had asked for no tomatoes in my burger and they actually listened and added no tomatoes which is a big thing for me because a lot of places forget or just simply ignore my request. Will definitely be ordering more from here via Uber eats

For a drop in at last minute the wait was about 20 mins on a Saturday night in ur Bay Area. Organised with coordinating guests and allocation to their tables. Food was fresh and hot, the waitress was enthusiastic and willing to help with the menu options. Price was reasonable for a family outing and caters for kids, my daughter is a vegetarian and it had options for her to chose from. Will come again but will book a reservation.

Came here for dinner to redeem our grabone voucher. Upon walking into the restaurant we were greeted with lovely staff and explained what special that they have and ordered the steak with JD sauce and lamb shank. The food came and was surprising enormous! Everything on the plate are lovely and we really enjoy our night. Will definitely come back again. <br/><br/>Atmosphere: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️<br/>Food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️<br/>Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This restaurant is great. The food was amazing, the decor was beautiful, unfortunately I can't say the same for the staff nor the waiting. With the acceptance of dining on Father's Day, I understand how busy it can become. However, the staffs communication was poorly as one of my family members entree came 30mins too early and seperate from the mains, when we specifically asked them to bring it with the mains. Then they forgot the entree once all the mains arrived. It was quite a downer to the special day, though it was understandable with the amount of other diners there, but the food was wonderful and served to us at the right temperature too. I would love to dine again, when hopefully it's less busy.
Charlotte H.
Always love the food here great for families bit pricey but the portions are decent, friendly staff, the wait on food was so-so but absolutely delish! Would like to come back!

Fabulous food. Very Attentive wait staff. Ordered the Dixie chicken. Cheese sauce was creamy, mash was buttery and smooth. Chicken breast was tender. <br/>Portions were generous. <br/><br/>Customer service: A+ <br/>Atmosphere: A+<br/><br/>

Awesome food and good service. Had the rib eye steak with JD's sauce while partner got Dixie Chicken. Steak was cooked perfectly well (medium rare👌) and the portion was good. Good atmosphere and good music as well. Second time here at the branch in New Lynn and definitely not the last.

I got 2 entrees for my main and a side of fries.<br/>My first entree was the Lone Star Artisan Loaf.<br/>It was good. Much prefer the Cob Loaf they used to have on the menu than the new Artisan Ciabatta Loaf.<br/>However, it was satisfactory.<br/>Second Entree was the Chief Chicken Nibbles.<br/>Always tasty. My go to.<br/>And a side of Straight cut Fries. I've been to Lone Star more than a couple of times. I always order the same things. However, this time the chip bowl was soooo small. I usually share my meal with my daughter because there's more than enough for both of us with these 3 plates. But this time it was lucky my daughter had a snack before we went. As there was just enough. It was a last minute decision to go to Lone Star. We had already fed our daughter so she didnt eat as much as usual. Also there was no Aioli sauce like usual with chips.<br/><br/>Our waiter was awesome. Very lively and attentive.

Delish dinner with my friends! Enjoyed the cool and rustic ambience of the restaurant! Glad that their portions are big and can be shared! We'll surely be back! 😉

Drove all the way from Botany to go to this branch as it had good reviews. Asked if I could order prior to arriving to avoid the wait and was told they dont allow this. The waiters taking the order didn't know the items on the menu, first I was told the dish I wanted(The Wagon Wheel) wasn't on the menu, so had to show them that it was indeed on their menu. Food turned up 25 mins after ordering, ribs were good had the platter arrive with no sauces, when enquired about the sauces I was told by the manager the dish didn't come with any sauces, yet the menu said it did? To make things worse when paying, I was told I had to split transactions to use the free dessert and birthday voucher only to find out after the first transaction that I couldn't use the birthday voucher as the minimum spend wasn't $50, even though my total bill was $90.Very disappointing and misleading. Great to have freebies and rewards for loyalty but be good to list the terms and conditions clearly to avoid disappointment. Not sure if I would consider going back.. Overall very poor service.
The Cheesy Ravioli
Starting with the service, as you walk in there is usually someone there to greet you, I've been on numerous occasions and there is never a dull moment. The staff are very friendly and know their stuff when it comes to drinks and specials. Can cater to GF options too, which is a bonus as some places don't handle GF/Coeliac well. The portion sizes are larger than your average meal, one large usually lasts me 2-3 meals, so it's worth the price. Free mains for your birthday if you come with friends so I can't complain. Can get busy and they don't take bookings so it's great if you head in around 6-7pm.. It's a goodie for sure.

Our first time to the New Lynn branch of Lonestar and we couldn't have been more impressed. We are new parents with a 12 week old baby and we were desperate to have some time out of the house but very nervous about taking our daughter out. Thankfully Shenda and the other staff who served us were wonderfully accommodating and helpful. The food was also great - freshly cooked and hot, with very generous portions. Would highly recommend to others who are after a relaxed and cosy dining experience.

First meal at New Lynn LS for us and I hadn't been to one for about 20 years! (Queenstown) it didn't disappoint at all; food was fresh and yum and portions big. This time we were GrabOne customers which made it excellent value as their normal prices are slightly high. Some places skimp for GrabOne customers which was great and makes me want to return (surely the point of a GrabOne!) Staff were super-friendly, especially our waitress (Sorry can't remember her name). Great choices and relaxed atmosphere for kids. Thanks!

Brandon greeted us at the door, what a great guy! Absolute example of what fantastic service looks like and draws people coming back again and again. We had Jordan as our waiter who was attentive, thorough and very friendly. So happy with service. Place was clean and great lighting for the evening. Ordered the chick burger as the special that night, inhaled it, so so good! At my table, the ribs and steak were also ordered and thoroughly enjoyed. An awesome evening, definitely better than it ever has been there.

My wife and My Son and His Partner went there for Dinner last night..BRILLIANT in Every Aspect..FOOD..SERVICE..ATMOSPHERE <br/>AS GOOD AS ANY LONESTAR I HAVE BEEN TO

Cant go wring with Lonestar, food is always good , but sadly in Newlynn alot more food options around now and the prices at Lonestar are abit on the expensive side for the food they produce. Always a good place to go for a decent meal vut with cheaper options around now havnt been here in awhile

You can never go wrong here. Customer service is amazing - you can tell they pay attention to detail. Love the setting. Food is to die for! Always a lovely environment to dine in or grab a drink!

AMAZING!!! My family have been coming here for years but due to me always working I never went so last night was my first time.  Such lovely people always had a smile as they whizzed past. Our waiter was amazing sorry I didn't catch his name....( the nice looking young guy!) Food was outstanding!!!!  Only thing was timing but to be fair it was extremely busy but was handled well!  I have a few friends within the same type of industry so I have a high expectations and you have blown me away! Most defiantly coming back! Worth the wait!

My partner and I tonight dined here for the first time in approx 9 years. We enjoyed it. Alessandra (correct me if I'm wrong) was our waiter tonight and he was superb. We had the cob loaf, eye fillet, lamb shank and shared a banoffee pie. Was very yummy, filling and we don't have any complaints. Sadly, we can't come often due to needing a babysitter but we highly recommend to others for a nice meal out. Cheers :)

Very accommodating- had to eat and run. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Steaks were perfect! Will definitely return for a more relaxed meal. Thank you Ashley.

The food here is amazing. I love the redneck ribs, they are my favourite. I think at lone star their quantity and quality of food is excellent. Not to forget their wonderful customer service too. The staff are so welcoming and make sure you're all comfortable. One of my favourite places to dine.

Generous portions!<br/>Reasonable prices!<br/>And good ambiance!<br/>Along with great service!<br/><br/>Definitely a classic fav, esp when major games are on.. we always end up feasting rather than just having a few drinks and snacks.<br/><br/>A good midpoint meet up for our crew. With parking spots.

Amazing service and very friendly staff, served by Ravina who did an outstanding job for us! Very helpful and polite, nothing was too much too ask! Food was amazing, would definitely recommend! :)

Excellent service here. We were served by Ravina (sp?) who was very helpful, friendly and quick and the staff not assigned to us were incredibly helpful too. Would come again!<br/>Oh and the ribs are AWESOME!

First time here and it was exceptional. Food was great and the sizes are big which is good considering the prices. The waitress who served my was very kind and friendly. The service was quick too. Though we felt a bit rushed. Other than that we we enjoyed ourselves.<br/><br/>Definitely we will come back in the future

Always huge meals with good service. It's expensive which is the only negative as we'd like to go more often as a family. Desserts are big enough to share & taste divine <br/>
Couple Of Cheap Westies
My partner and I dined here on a Thursday night which was surprisingly quiet at 6pm. We ordered the prawn star and lone star loaf for starters which came 10 mins after ordering. The prawn star came out with 7 prawns served with rice which were amazing but a little pricey at $18. The loaf was accompanied by garlic margarine - of which I've had better, but the loaf was delicious, hot and fresh! For mains we ordered the rocking rib-eye and the campfire burrito. 20 mins after entrees and 30 mins after ordering, nothing... Seeing as there was only two other small tables dining we were wondering what the hold up was. Hate to see it if it were busy. 30 mins after entree and 40 mins since ordering our waiter (who was delightful) apologised for the wait and the chef had told him 2 more mins. Unfortunately this was not the case. 50 mins after entree and 1 HOUR since we had ordered we finally got our mains! Thankfully the food was amazing. The rib eye was undercooked but still nice, served with a creamy mushroom sauce. The burrito was delicious and crispy. The portions are large and well priced. The service was good, not great. Mood lighting. Very good music. Good atmosphere. The let down was the time waiting. I'm not sure if this is a reoccurring thing for this franchise but thanks to the food being so good, I'm sure we'll be back again.

AMAZING food as it always is!!! First time taking my mum there and she loved it too. Steak was medium rare but so tender my fork went straight though, mouth watering. Service was good even though it was busy, always reccomend Lone Star to people looking for a good hearty meal. Our server was Raveena and was super friendly and helpful!

Visited in April 2016 from England. Fantastic staff and friendly atmosphere a wonderful place to eat for all the family young and old. We were served by Stacey who looked after us for the evening . I would recommend you visit when you are in the area. Best food we have had for a long time 😊

I'm quite the regular at lone star new Lynn, I dine in with my fiancé every so often. <br/>This time on the 15/5/16 I took my sister and mother there and it was there first time. <br/>I can not have asked for better service, from the time we walked in and the time we walked out. I am particularly impressed with our waiter (Nathan) did an immaculate job with making us comfortable and always attending to us when needed. He also handed us over to mat who continued to make us feel very happy and welcomed. <br/><br/>I am happy to recommend this restaurant, family orientated, friendly environment and gorgeous food.. They have never let us down at anytime I have been ☺️<br/>

The food was great but the service wasn't I ask for a chicken burrito and the gave me Beef! we waited 30 minutes for our dessert and the restaurant was pretty much empty. Then when we complained the said sorry. I don't think i will be going back.
Harry
Amazing food great customer service, loved everything that got served. Would definitely come back again. Food came out quick, waiter always came to check up on us. Keep up the great work :)

Haven't been to a Lone Star restaurant in Auckland before. And this New Lynn branch definitely did not disappoint. Came here on a Tuesday night. Not too busy it quiet. Service was pretty good here. The (pregnant) lady who greeted us was friendly and always smiling. <br/><br/>The waiter that looked after asked if we wanted the "lone star loaf" and we did. We were all so hungry. The loaf was pretty much a garlic bread. It was amazing! The bread was so soft on the inside and loved how you could spread as much garlic butter on it 😍 <br/><br/>I ordered the "Maverick fillet". I actually thought this would be a huge portion but was quite disappointed when it looked quite small. But glad to say, I was pretty stuffed afterwards. Loved the herbed potato bake on the bottom of the Angus beef fillet 👌🏼 also I made the mistake of ordering a "medium" cooked Angus beef fillet instead of rare -fail 😩<br/><br/>Definitely no room for dessert. But our friends ordered the "Jack Daniels chocolate fudge pudding". They said it was so rich it was not very appetising 🙈

Thank you to Jordan at Lone Star New Lynn for the his amazing service today on 15 March 2016.<br/><br/>Great food and to top it off Jordan was courteous and helpful in making decisions. He truly went out of this way to be accommodating in every way possible and deserves to be recognised by your company.<br/><br/>Hats off the New Lynn branch for the awesome food and awesome service!!! <br/><br/>Manesha and Shane

Went to lonestar tonight and shock horrible the service was outstanding again. We had to wait for our table but were asked if we'd like drinks and updated when our table was almost ready.<br/><br/>Food was great and quick. We had 3 children with us and I appreciated how quick they were to get the kids meals out. <br/><br/>When I paid the host was lovely and warm.
USADINER
Went there last Friday and had the lamb shanks. These were superb. Best shanks I've had in NZ. The slaw and mash were outstanding. The wait staff and front of house were exceptional.

My partner and I were invited to dine with family at this establishment they rave about. Upon entering the restaurant, we were given a warm greeting by a friendly hostess who I assume is one of the owners. They had put together 2 round tables together for us which we felt was uncomfortable, so they moved us to a long table shortly after upon request. The waiter that served our table was very friendly and delivered great service.<br/><br/>Before I start commenting on the food, I must first say that 1.5 stars was given to the outstanding wait staff they have on board. They are the reason the whole restaurant maintains a lively atmosphere.<br/><br/>As a large group, we order the garlic bread and guacamole and chips to start:<br/><br/>• $10 Garlic bread: came as an uncut loaf of white bread with garlic butter on the side<br/><br/>o Verdict: the loaf of white bread tasted like a loaf you could buy for $2 at the supermarket bakery section. Garlic butter was bland. <br/><br/>• Special Guacamole and chips: Guacamole had large pieces of Jalapeno, spring onions, and the expected diced tomato. The chips looked like hardened burrito wraps cut into triangles.<br/><br/>o Verdict: Guacamole was nothing special, the jalapeno and spring onion could have been chopped smaller so with each dip you could actually get all the different ingredients and not have to live with large chunks of either. Needed more lemon. As for the chips, they are much better off using a standard tortilla chip because their ones were bland.<br/><br/>My partner and I ordered 2 dishes to share:<br/><br/>• $18 Redneck Ribs: the waiter actually mixed up our order and thought we wanted the larger portion of this dish which costs $26, we only found out after they delivered a very large plate of ribs to us. They were very kind to let us keep the food and change our bill for this dish to $18.<br/><br/>o Verdict: worst ribs we have ever had. The sauce tasted like a generic rib/meat sauce you can buy at the supermarket. It had a lack of flavour, seemed like they blanched the ribs first then spread some sauce on and then served – there was a clear divide between meat and sauce. If you want good ribs for the price you pay you might as well go to Bonz Cajun in Elliot Stables = best ribs in Auckland as far as we know.<br/><br/>• $36 Johnny Cash Stack: 2 extremely large chicken breasts with supposed spinach, mushroom, cheese and sundried tomato stuffing, oven baked with a coating of batter. It also had creamy mushrooms, coleslaw and chips on the side.<br/><br/>o Verdict: When this dish arrived, I noticed the extremely dull coloured batter around the chicken, it did not look oven baked at all because it lacked any golden hues and it appeared soggy. I wouldn’t be shocked to hear this was microwaved. When cutting into the chicken the batter fell off immediately, and we could only make out spinach in the stuffing and maybe, just maybe, extremely diced mushrooms. The creamy mushrooms were surprising as it just tasted like cream, there was no hint of mushroom aroma even though they were present. The coleslaw was also surprising – just really bland coleslaw. The chips were deep fried potatoes that had a great crunchy texture, but sadly lacked any savoriness or overall flavour. <br/><br/>Overall, the quality of the food here for the price you pay was so infuriating it inspired me to write my first ever restaurant review. We didn’t even finish half our food due to the overwhelming blandness, and didn’t want to get doggy bags because it would go straight into the bin at home. For the price range you could go to beautiful restaurants such as Cocos Cantina on K Road. The only reason why I can think that this establishment is so popular is due to the lively atmosphere, the ridiculously large portions, and the familiar, safe food choices. <br/><br/>We can safely say nothing will encourage us to step into a Lone Star ever again, but we can see why it is so popular – great service and lively atmosphere!

Lone Star New Lynn awesome experience on our visit staff friendly and very efficient. Pleasure to dine here. Meals where delivered quickly and well presented . Tasted better than they looked. We will be back

So wonderful! I was nervous about coming to the New Lynn Lone Star as I had a really bad experience at the Takapuna one, but this was great! My friends and I came for dinner quite late and, as a waitress myself, I know it's annoying when customers walk in close to closing time, but everyone was so accommodating! We were greeted by Caden (hoping I spelled it right!) who made us laugh within a few minutes and showed us to our table, and our waiter for the night was Jordan (I'll also add that I've been meaning to write this review for months so hopefully they both still work there!). I was blown away by the service and his ability to remember every detail of the night's special - as well as his ability to put up with my friend's not-so-subtle flirting hahaha. We all loved our meals and my Banoffee Pie was next-level amazing. We were the last ones to leave by miles but still never felt like we were a nuisance at all. Will definitely be back!

Good food although calling roast potatoes buffalo chips was a bit confusing music way too loud had to shout at each other over our meal ended up losing my voice ! Great service though

Hi team - yummy dinner served up tonight for our family of four. Like all Lone Stars - you cater really well to the kids which makes it easy to do a family meal. In the past we had heard not so awesome things about the New Lynn LS but there was nothing to show for it tonight. We were seated quickly, kids were taken care of with the colouring and then when they just about were to get a bit restless the food came out. As always - totally delish - fab portion sizes and we left with our stomachs feeling the pinch. Am glad to know that our local is just as good as any other and will come again :)

Good food, always generous servings! Good to see Lonestar in better hands, we hadn't been since it went downhill a few years back and my partner and I were really happy to have our local Lonestar back. The highlight of our visit was our waitress Rav - she was absolutely fantastic! Couldn't ask for better service.

Food was very delicious, a bit pricey but presented very nicely, service was fast, speed of the food delivery could be improved, however the ambience of the place is much adored.

Came in about a week and a half ago with family. Had a great experience, food was great (I ordered the Dixie chicken) and didn't take to long to come out. Service was great too, we had a waitress called Ravina super bubbly and great to talk to. Would defiantly recommend to a friend :)
Simon Julius
Nice food but not so good service. Had to remind them that nobody had taken our order after 30 mins of waiting and several staff passing us by. Had to wait at the counter to pay even thru (again) several staff saw us waiting but did nothing.
Kelly Griffith-Thwaites
Made a reservation and were seated almost immediately even though we were early. Amazing hospitality from our waiter Rebeena, very attentive and energetic. Service was great.. only down point for me was the mocktail and the sauce on the pork, otherwise perfect!
Peata Piahana
Had the best meal ever, dixie chicken & johnny cash stash, green lipped mussels in that "to die for sauce" & LS loaf. Meal portions were very generous indeed. Apart from the great meal our waiter Herbie made our dining experience fantastic! His ppl skills are great, he's very vivacious & his service was "Top notch" - he deserves a pay rise! Plse relay our gratitude & thanks to Herbie for making our nite a memorable one. Tena koe Herbie, Kia tau te rangimarie kia a koe e hoa ma. Lastly, we'd like to wish all the staff @ LS, New Lynn a very merry xmas & prosperous new year. All the best for 2016 - we will be back for more fine dining & fantastic service.<br/>Peata & Wayne <br/><br/>

The customer service at Lone Star was amazing. My friends and I were very impressed with Athina's exuberant personality and witty behaviour. We thought that she was excellent and was passionate about her role at this establishment. Her cherry demeanour should be applauded and appreciated. Thanks Athina.

Always such a good night out at lone star new Lynn. Great food and always friendly service. <br/>Tonight we had the best waiter, Herbie. He was so attentive and kind and deserves a pay rise!!!! ;) <br/>Thanks again Herbie! Hope to see you again .... On a Wednesday! ;)

Herby makes this place 5 stars!! Always helpful, quick to serve, attentive and so sweet.<br/>He probably should get a pay rise because he made our experience 100% better.<br/>We loved herbs service, he made the meal.<br/>I'll be coming back if herby is working ;)<br/>

We have been here several times and we have always walked out of here happy and satisfied. We always have our little girl with us and the staff are always friendly and keep the little one occupied with drawings. Today we were welcomed and greeted by Charmaine and she was awesome. Our waitress was Shenda and she made our evening. I felt that all customers were treated like a family and made sure they made sure everything was going fine.<br/>Thanks New Lynn Lonestar
Theresa Shelley
Monday night out for dinner - Had a fabulous waitress who couldn't have been more helpful or friendly especially for a Monday night. First time there will not be strangers anymore.  Thanks Shenda you are fantastic.

We went to the Lone Star for dinner tonight after having a very rough long day at work and ever since the main door was open for us, we new it was going to be a great night! Lone Star saved the evening. The staff were absolutely lovely, with a great sense of humor and a real care factor. Our waiter Herby was AMAZING, he suggested what to eat and we were pleased we listened to him! The food was delicious, delivered quickly and all excellent service! This place is what we needed to end the day in a positive way! Well done guys!

We used to enjoy going to Lone Start as it was a nice casual restaurant known for getting a great meal... so we had a function there - what a mistake... the music was so loud you couldn't talk to anyone.  We had to clear away the plates from our table ourselves as it appeared that the wait staff had gone home and the service was quite slow.  We are not in any hurry to return.
Sungsam7
We've been here several times since the doors opened first time. Staff have always been great and the food just as you expect unfortunately our last visit for Mr was not so impressive and he's declared we ain't going back to New Lynn 😢 <br/>Appearance of staff no longer appear smart casual but personalised individuals and it feels more like the Year 13 common room students. Normally doesn't bother me as a parent but as a paying customer staff at this Lone Star act quite aloof and too casual... Also when your twice the age of the person serving you and you kept getting referred to with terms of endearment it's slightly nails down the chalkboard grating!! <br/>Food portion was not even how it was sold to us. Not only was the portion way smaller than described or pictured, taste wise he wasn't that sold on it. My Dixie: chicken lovely and moist but there was way too much sauce and little serving of the chips now mostly drenched so no longer chips but soggy logs of potato. <br/>Clearly irritated by the build up of the star dish not being so great my dining mate couldn't wait to leave stating he wouldn't dine at this LS again ;-( <br/>Thanks for the past good dining experiences LS New Lynn...<br/><br/>

Very friendly staff and the food is always amazing with the usual massive Lonestar portions. The Maverick steak is highly recommended and the desserts are all super tasty

We had dinner in celebration of my my husband's birthday on 18 Oct 15.  The service was good; the waiting staff was attentive; we didn't wait long.  The server made me feel very loved haha! - she kept calling me "Honey" but I liked it.  The dinner was just so delicious. We had squid for entree; My son ordered steinlager for his beverage.  I had fish, pan-fried to perfection.  My son had ribs;  my husband had steak.  We were full, but because it was for a birthday celebration, we went to the whole hog of ordering icecream.  The meals were generous, the salads were fresh and crunchy.  We left - very happy and satisfied.  Will recommend Lone Star New Lynn any time!

I had great mid-ale! We ordered beef steak and rock the boat, they were delicious and cheap! I hope to visit lone star again to try some wine there.

First time here tonight with group of 4. Greeted at entry by a very energetic and bubbly lady. She took our names and told us to wait in the bar for a table which was expected because carpark full. Nice start to our night. We were seated at our table less than 10mins later which was superfast. It was almost packed so the noise was very loud and even the music was a little annoying but didnot kill it for us. Ordered fresh bread loaf for entree and juice and water. The bread came first then juice but waited over 15mins for the water jug which was not good. We ordered 2redneck ribs, beef burrito and the lamb special. Order took about 20mins which was faster than we expected. The ribs were very yummy.. The burrito was as expected , delicious. My lamb was average .it was under seasoned, carrots were steamed well and spinach was good but the meal altogether was not what I expected for the price. I didnot like it as much so big let down. <br/><br/>Service was very good - liked that he came around 4times to ask if we needed anything else. It was a 'good' night over all. <br/>Thanks. Maybe come back for the ribs and order something else.

Dined here with a small group. Front of house staff are awesome and go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. Food is delicious and servings are hearty.

lone star usually a family favourite not this time ! <br/>waited over 20 minutes to be seated wasn't even that busy was very early evening .<br/>food tasted like it was heated up in a microwave certainly not restaurant quality !<br/>waiters kept changing , <br/>music was  way to loud  ! not as clean as it used to be jug of water  on the table  was filthy .<br/>think its time for Gordon  Ramsay  to pay them a visit disappointed with the whole experience  will not return to this again !

Had a fantastic time here quite a while ago. Have tried the Redneck Ribs, Dixie Chicken & JD's Choc Pudding. Food was very good, service excellent, a very memorable experience.

We were a group of six children - ranging from 18mths to 10yrs - and two adults.Good range of kids meals, which with a free drink and free dessert, were great value. The adults meals were delicious and generous.  Unfortunately we were too full after mains to try the desserts. The children were provided with colouring pictures to enter a competition.  A good quantity of colouring pens were also provided.  This helped keep them occupied while the adults finished their meals.

Just been to lone star in new lynn, and wow we were so amazed by the awesome service there tonight, everyone was so welcoming and friendly would just like to point out Mitchell who waited on us tonight made it so much more enjoyable not just dinner for us, definitely recommend them! ☺

Great food and service! Generous portions and not a long wait time. Ordered slow cooked lamb shoulder which was very tender. Timaru su for dessert aka tiramisu had great flavour and nice texture

Ahhh good ol Lone Star! As my gf from the Shore made her way out west for dinner here I remember feeling a tad nervous that it would be a flop and I'ld feel bad for having her criss the bridge lol. <br/><br/>I couldn't be more wrong. <br/><br/>We decided here because we wanted to be filled up with a hearty big meal and carbs! That's exactly what we got. Bread with garlic butter - yum! I got the half a bird with stuffing, cabbage with bacon, gravy and Mash and it was delicious. She got something similiar but with the stuffed chicken breast. Dessert was delicious as well. Everything was well cooked, seasoned and flavored. We were both impressed. <br/><br/>Staff was friendly and informative. Attentive to everyone and the atmosphere was relaxing and warm. Perfect for a cold winters night. <br/><br/>Ps - love the fire that was in the middle of the tables. <br/><br/>Would totally recommend and go back!

Very good service eventhough we didnt book before we arrived they still manage to fit us in . Service was excellent we were well looked after and we didnt wait that long for our drinks and foods to arrive . I had a sirloin for dinner and it was cooked to my liking which is medium rare unfortunately my husbands steak was a bit under done (he wants welldone) but flavour wise it was excellent . We'll be coming back for sure xx

I'm always happy with the food here, such big portions and by far the best lonestar in Auckland. My partner and I shared a three course meal, the bean dip, ribs and a creme brûlée. All of them lovely and satisfying. I was left so full and happy. Splitting the bill worked out to be $32 each which is one main in a normal restaurant :)
Aimee
What a fantastic family friendly restaurant! We arrived quite early (5:30ish), and while it was busy, our food arrived super quickly. Just perfect when you have little ones. All the staff were incredibly friendly, our waiter was great and everyone was more than happy to chat to our little 1 year old. Delicious food as always, we have a new rib fan in our household 😳. Will be back for sure.
Fiesole Marks
Great service and good hearty food. Quite expensive but very filling and the perhaps overly keen waiter was very helpful. Decor was kind of like an upmarket Denny's and it filled up very fast from 6.30 on Friday. Would go again :)

Came here with a friend for a catch up and absolutely enjoyed myself! The service was top notch, the ambience was amazing with a warm yet lively feel to it and the food itself was of good quality, quantity and pricing! They have a great variety of food as well! I ordered the Cajun chicken and it was simply fantastic! Super succulent and flavorful! Only downside was the mojito which was too lemony and you couldn't really taste anything besides that. Nevertheless, a lovely place to grab some fine dining dinner at! :)
Linny
We used to frequent the original Lone Star in Christchurch when we used to live down there and we were always so disappointed with the Newmarket one so we stopped going sadly. We decided on a whim to check out this New Lynn branch when I drove past and saw how good it looked from the outside.<br/><br/>It was really busy in there and we had to wait a few minutes for them to set up a table for us and the staff were friendly and kept us updated on how long it would take. Definitely believe the staff had a lot going on but we never felt like we were ignored. Our server was great, once we were seated so quick on the drinks and our appetisers. As there was a few of us, we ordered the calamari, wings and nachos and they went down a treat and I shared the ribs with the hubby. The portions were so large and we didn't manage to finish it but it was exactly as it was in the chch location. Ribs were soft, sauced properly and we were so happy that we were able to find a lone star we enjoyed to frequent again! <br/><br/>

Lone star usually never disappoints . But this time the wait for my main was much longer than any other time I have been. It was pretty busy however. I ordered the Maverick Fillet. Which was $38.00 (pictured) the actual protein itself was tiny, compared to the other steak dishes on the menu. Felt a bit let down by that. Although it was tasty, it seemed a bit too fine dining for Lone Star.

Lone Star!! Always look forward to a steak from lone star!! We started off with the loaf with garlic butter which was delishh warm soft inside with a crispy crust!!! We waited just over an hour for our mains which was annoying but my steak was cooked medium rare as requested and the jack daniels pepper sauce was yummmo! Coleslaw was a bit so so and could do with some more punchy flavour!! The milky bar pud was OMG delicious! Warm soft and the caramel sauce and ice cream were creamy and not too sweet! Definitely order this again 😀 overall above average but the wait was off putting and also upon arrival we had to wait to be seated until our whole group arrived which was less than convenient!

Time and date: friday night dinner<br/><br/>Food and beverages ordered: steinlager gold, church road malbac, apache fish abd double lamb shank<br/><br/>Environment: vibrant and roudy<br/><br/>Service: extremely friendly and lovely<br/><br/>Costs: $40 per person <br/><br/>Will I return: prefer this franchise than any other ones<br/><br/>Comment: nothing much to say about the food, tasty and of good standard like most lone star. Yet i liked this better because the service here is extremely friendly and welcoming. This made the experience a tad better than the others. Portion size of food is generous.

food- 8/10<br/>service- 10/10<br/>Had a great meal tonight at lone star new lynn, we were a group of 9 without a booking and we were seated straight away which was fabulous!<br/>Our waiter 'jordan' done an amazing job, he was very attentive and was a lovely young man- the boy deserves a raise!! the restaurant was full but meals came out in good time and they were delicious!! My only concern is they may have been understaffed? the poor girl at the counter was rushing around non stop from the minute we got there until the minute we left (over 2 hours), they may need to consider putting another host on while its so busy. Thanks lone star for a wonderful night!
Sophie Rivas Donald
Interesting dining experience. My mother in law ordered the vegetarian nachos and received a pile of cornchips and some salsa dalloped on top- the menu promised something quite different from what we received. We brought this up with the waiter who was very accommodating and apologetic. We were not offered a refund. Our meals were also delivered 10 minutes apart. Dixie chicken was as good as ever (one bonus of the night) and the home baked bread was yummy! Don't think we will return to new Lynn lonestar in particular however lonestar in general is still great in my eyes! <br/>Food: 3/5<br/>Service: 3/5<br/>Ambience: 4/5<br/>Overall: 5/10

I have been to lone star in different suburb, lone stars, new Lynn is my favourite. Their staff are friendly but talk really fast. I love Shank Williams, it so tasty and juicy.

really full!Big size for me, I can't finished. Nice ice cream. First time been here. And I don't know why have to write down at least 140 words, I have nothing to say...

I have been here a few times before and the difference this time was the service. It was great, salt and pepper squids to start and it was nice and crispy. Baby back ribs was great for mains. I was bit disappointed with the dessert. My cream brûlée taste like sweet scramble egg.<br/>Went again for dinner on a Saturday night and the place was packed, we were told there was a half an hour wait for a table and we decided to wait. We were seated as promised. Food was delicious as always but the beat part was service and dessert. We ordered Date pudding and it was awesome. Last time I had a not so great dessert and it all changed so thanks I am changing my rating from 3.5 to 4.5!!

We went as a 7 person group and got there at 7pm, we had booked the night before but still had to wait at the bar for about 30mins till we were actually seated. This wasn't really much of an issue as I could see that place was packed and no seats were available at all, I'm sure they have there reasons anyway for it. The waiter we had, I believe his name was Mathew, was a really nice, friendly guy he talked us through the specials and that. The frozen mango margaritas are Devine.. Definitely recommend. Dinner came pretty fast for the amount of people at our table and people who where at the restaurant.. Their portions are massive from what I saw what my friends got, half a chicken, wrap thing with rice in the side and salad.. They were all pretty good sized portions. I got a pretty decent sized lamb piece with mash and coleslaw, the meat and gravy with the mash was yummy but I found the coleslaw a bit meh. <br/>Dessert I had a cheesecake Moro bar thing, was sooooooo good, I'm glad I shared it though coz it was pretty rich. Also tried a bit of my friends hot chocolate brownie thing, I would of loved to eat that whole thing too. <br/>Overall experience was really good, would definitely go again

? Ooo first time in New Lynn! My friend said lots of good thing about this restaurant and we finally made it here. ?Very attentive service. Very friendly staff, very nice food too! We had the bean dips & lamb shank and blue salmon, 4 stars! ✔️ should not have had the mashed potato at night time >_< we walked out with 2 happy & full stomachs hehehe. ? will come back and try the ribs next time, looks horribly good!!!!

I love the characteristic ambience and bold menu. Service is very intimate the Garlic Loaf is to die for. Prices are rather high and some nights are slightly better than others, however you'll always leave with a full tummy.

I will start by saying i joined zomato just so i could share my experience after dining at lone star new lynn last night.<br/>We did not have a booking but we were seated straight away by one of their lovely hostesses named sharmayne, we had a good conversation on the way to our table- she asked how our day was and actually cared about the response which was lovely, she then offered us drinks/appetizers and informed us who would be taking care of us which was a nice touch. We had mitchell as our waiter and he was absolutely fabulous! He was friendly and attentive, it was great! He came over to check if we were enjoying our meals and actually cared about our response, he even kept popping over to make sure we didnt need drinks/napkins etc. The food was to die for, my steak was perfectly cooked. Our food took about 20mins to arrive which is good in my opinion. I have never been to an establishment where the staff are so friendly, every staff member had a smile and seemed to be enjoying themselves. My first time at lone star new lynn and we will definetly be back.

Service was outstanding! They understood that regardless of the fact they were Lonestar, service was important. My beloved tipped our waiter more than he he might at The French Cafe! Clearly a great training Programme. Food was what you might expect for the restaurant, big portions, cooked well, tasty and suits the market.

Had to wait a very long time for my meal. My friends meal was forgotten about and he had to wait more than an hour. Considered leaving and going somewhere else it was taking so long. Food is very over priced. Wasn't satisfied with my meal at all and preferred the hot chips. <br/>This isn't the first time I've had a bad experience. Will not come here again.

What happens when you call 2 weeks to notify them of a birthday party where 17 people will be attending, they take your name and the numbers and tell you this will not be a problem.<br/><br/>Then you show up on the day to find that you and the 16 other people will have to wait 30mins for your table, this is not too bad, so you wait, to be told 40mins later that it will be 20mins, after 2.5hrs of being told 30mins, 20mins and 10mins, when you complain you get told that they do not take bookings and make up some stry about how lone star nationwide do not take bookings.<br/><br/>Guess what we booked 15 people in Albany on their opening weekend and they had a huge queue of walk-ins waiting to dine, but we got our table as soon as we arrived for the time we requested, that was a booking. If you don't have the brains to cater for more than a table of people at a time in New Lynn then please say so on the phone and let your diners make other arrangements.<br/><br/>With three customer service managers in this group, your efforts were laughable and staff control was in shambles all you offered were excuses and no actual solutions, your kitchen hands were all standing around laughing in plain sight doing nothing, your maître d' could have easily taken the entire groups orders while they waited so that when they finally sat down you could start on the orders.<br/><br/>The food this time was average, this may be down to the size of the group and how you were scrambling to get the dishes out.<br/><br/>If you are dining out as a couple then lone star is fine, if you are a larger group, go somewhere else.

Tried out most of the Lone Star restaurants in Auckland and New Lynn branch is by far the best. Friendly and efficient service and great food. Always great entering a restaurant and someone smiling at the door.<br/>Athena at the desk was just amazing.. This place never lets you down..

Always a fave with large meals that make you feel so full! The rubs were delicious and so saucy, service was good and the staff were very smiley

The New Lynn store is the only Lone star branch I have been to and on a recent visit I can definitely say it will most likely be the one I stick to. Portions are still as huge as I remembered and tasty with service being of a good standard. Hope the standard doesn't falter!

Really excellent service, from the moment you walk through the door+ delicious ribs and very child friendly environment. The owner Brendan, has only had this place for a year and is leading by example with his friendly, hands-on approach. The portion sizes are very big; 12 ribs were enough for two of us. It's definitely not the healthiest meal for a family but that is the cuisine. There are only a few decent options for families in this area and this is one of them.

We recently organise a reunion at LoneStar New Lynn.<br/>I ordered my favourite Dixie chicken which was really good. Chicken was tender and can't go wrong with their potatoes. Quick service , all the staff had a smile on their face and that's what we like to see. <br/><br/>Keep it up.

Been going to lone star for years. Every year I receive a voucher for my birthday for a free meal. That's about 10 years of great service. <br/><br/>The friendly staff welcome you. The food is family friendly, sometimes it's great. Sometimes they lack a little love, in saying this I have never had a bag experience at any Lone Star. You must try the ribs.

Very good atmosphere and friedly staff. Very attentive. Highly recommend the ribs to split between 3 to 4 people cz one main is a large portion. Also recommend the king prawns :)

YUM. Would recommend getting a side of "dixie" sauce to dip your chips into. The steak is always bloody good and the portions are spot on. Would recommend for a laid-back/casual dinner.

I've passed by Lonestar (new lynn branch) almost everyday and I've always been curious to know what it was like.. So I thought I'd give it a go. <br/><br/>First time at Lonestar! <br/>- Top notch service! The wait staff were extremely friendly and welcoming! As soon as the waiter handed the menu to us, he gave my partner and i a little run down on the specials and what he recommended. <br/> <br/>We ended up ordering:<br/>Lone Star loaf ($10)<br/>Light white over baked w herb & garlic <br/><br/>The Kiwi Joker ($38)<br/>(350mm premium aged angus ribeye, w/ 2 eggs, onions, mushroom, buffalo chips, L.S coleslaw)<br/> <br/>& Maverick Fillet ($38)<br/>(Angus beef fillet. Pan-sealed & oven-baked w/ herbed potato baked, sautéed mushrooms & spinach. Finished with blue cheese melt & beef/red wine jus). <br/><br/>The portion sizes are huge! Food was good & plentiful. The food didn't take long either... What I enjoyed the most was the Fresh baked bread.. We could see the steam as we were cutting the loaf.. The herb & garlic melted through the bread! Oh yum! Only thing I didn't enjoy was the l.s coleslaw! It tasted somewhat like... Chinese medicine infused with mesclun & nuts. It was... different. We ordered medium rare for both mains, the kiwi joker was perfect but the Maverick fillet looked a little... Under cooked? It was extremely red and bloody.. My partner ended up finishing it - so I guess it was edible. <br/><br/>Cost us $86 for the 2 of us. <br/>A little pricey in my opinion.. But i guess I'm paying for the amazing service, great ambience and good food. <br/>

We had my nephew's 21st whanau dinner at the New Lynn branch Friday 14 Nov 2014.  I have to say the service and meals were awesume, we didn't wait long. There were about 40 of us, we had a slideshow which the screen was organised by them.  Brendon and Stef the owners helped us as much as possible. The only downfalls were when we went to pay, it was slow and there was a mix up with the payments and we were jammed into one area as we are not little people. All in all I want to say a big thanks to Brendon, Stef and their staff to the great hospitality.

My review is a mixed one.<br/>- The service was great when we arrived and they were very accommodating.<br/>- The food was really fast to come out.<br/>- we ordered a whiskey & ginger ale, but received a full glass of straight whiskey which was just too strong.<br/>- when clearing the entre dishes, they took the used cutlery but did not replace it. When my main came out I had no fork. <br/>- couldn't find any service staff. Eventually found all of them outside drinking. Got a fork.<br/>- unfortunately by the time I had a fork my food had cooled significantly and was only just warm.<br/>- one of our group got a steak, rare. It had been thawed from the freezer, was overcooked and at the end of it's life. <br/>- I really do want to stress though that despite the negative things I have listed, most of the food was really good so despite my criticism i will leave the rating as is.

Awesome service as usual. The food was also appetizing and plentiful, some what too plentiful. I had the prawnstar starter and loved it but didn't eat the rice. I knew I would need any available tummy space for my main. The maverick fillet I ordered was superb, I requested it rare and it was cooked to perfection. In my mind it was easily the best main as it wasn't over run with potatoes and slaw. It wasn't a cheap night with 6 of us and drinks but well worth it.

This was my first time here, I've been to other Lone Star restaurants around the country and they've been great. The service here was good but the food wasn't. The mains came to us lukewarm and the plates were cold too. Not worth the money I paid for.

Had a grab-a-meal voucher &amp; decided to go to Lone Star New Lynn as we had never been to that venue. Our overall experience was good &amp; pleasant. The food was very good, except our dessert was kinda disappointing, &amp; the staff service were friendly, professional, courteous &amp; obliging. Our drinks came in wrong twice &amp; they apologized for their mistakes, the lamb shank was great &amp; the hog was ok, bit dry, crepe was rubbery but the vanilla bean ice cream was divine! The manager was v.obliging to change for another dessert but we said no as we were full. The waiter/waitress were friendly &amp; professional making sure you were taken care of. At the counter paying our bills, we told the manager of a nail on the brick wall sticking out where we sat (for health &amp; safety) she was v.shocked &amp; will get it fix asap, &amp; at the same time was very appreciative of the find. We were given a $20 voucher which we must say, pleasantly surprised. Will come back again as their service was great, very contrary to one of the Lone Star we went not long ago with their service unfriendly &amp; appalling!

Reccommend getting a side of Dixie sauce to dip your chips into. AMAZING.

Went there for my Birthday, was seated at a table which had no light bulb above it, asked about this and was told the staff member would talk to the manager so we proceeded to order drink while we decided what to have as an entree, staff member (different person to the first one) came over and took our order for the Entrees and Mains and again we asked about the light bulb, we were later told they didn't have any spares ones so eat our Entrees with very poor light, when the Entrees turned up I asked about the drinks we had ordered when we were first seated, was told they would be with us in a couple of min, 15 mins later after the entrees had been eaten the drink finally arrived, my cocktail was horrible, way too much mint ruined the whole drink, we finished our Main as quickly as possible, nothing was memorable about the food, as we walked out we saw the D rating which is to your left when you walk through the doors looking straight ahead towards the reception area, never going back again service and food has gotten continually worse over the last 4 years, the young girls working there seem to be one step away from pole dancing jading by the way the dress and act, last time before this that we ate there we were told by the male staff member (manager I assume or at least must have been the duty manager about how hot our waitress is and how he'd give her one, almost threw up in my mouth)
Lars Eldby
Food was average and the price was expensive. I didn't finish my food. The only thing that made it good was the staff. They were very friendly. I had to wait over an hour for one dish. It also surprised me that they had a D food rating.

The wait staff at Lone Star New Lynn are some of the friendliest I've ever had at a restaurant. This one server recited at least 8 different items from memory and in detail and gave us a rundown of the specials and what she recommended (when we asked). The food is decent but the atmosphere is the main reason I'm giving such a high rating. It is very welcoming and friendly. The mussels are pretty good and the garlic bread comes as a fresh loaf with butter on the side which is nice. Wasn't a big fan of the lamb but the steak is good. Portion sizes are huge! We usually get one entree and two mains between two people, but never manage to finish it all.

Have regularly been here for special occasion dinners, the food is always tasty, it's kid friendly dining and the atmosphere is great. Love the western theme. Children get entertained with colouring in while they wait. This place is great value for money and the one time we had an issue with wait time for our mains we were compensated with a free dessert platter, which was delicious! They've given our children free t shirts before also! Lovely people, lovely food &amp; my husband ALWAYS gets the ribs!!!

We have visited Lone Star a couple of times and thoroughly enjoyed the food but I would like to comment on the staff...excellent hospitality last week we had Ruth serve us and did we feel at home!!!!! ???Her smile throughout the service was beautifully. The most amazing thing that we noticed that Ruth would bend to our level to chat with us or ask us if we enjoyed the food...did we need anything more.<br/><br/>Keep up the good work Ruth and all the other staff!!!!<br/>We will be coming again just for the hospitality and food.

Celebrated my sons birthday here on 31 June 2013. Great place, &amp; great staff with smiles all round. Didn't have to wait too long for our entree's. It always annoys me when waiters are rushing meals to get you out smartly, in order to seat the next. We did not experience this at Lone Star. Dining out comes with interacting with friends &amp; family (catch up). Brilliant place to dine &amp; value for money. Have to give credit to the chef &amp; team who presented good food. Look forward to another meal at LS soon.

Visited the restaurant to celebrate my son's graduation. We had friends from abroad with us. As usual it was a wonderful experience. Service and food are always good here. The menu is well planned and has something for everyone.

I have eaten here on several occasions over the past 2 years, always with friends, and have never had a bad experience here. My last visit was mid December, in the busy pre-Christmas season and we had to wait a while for our table but that's to be expected. <br/>My experience has always been great, with friendly staff, great food (usually need to take a doggy bag home), and I always manage to find parking around the back of the building. <br/>So I would recommend Lone Star, Waitakere to anyone &amp; everyone.

We ate here last night, it was appalling and I would never go back there again! the loaf of garlic bread cost $9 and there was only 5 pieces, chicken nibbles were tough and overcooked and drowning in sauce, ordered buffalo chips and got pressured cooked "roast" potatoes, two of our mains arrived 10 minutes after the rest of us had finished, explanation was that the order hadn't gone through, then there was no offer of compensation, condolences anything, if they can't cope with orders on a Monday night, I'd hate to go on a busy night. The steaks when they did arrive were tough and on top of about three kilos of roast potatoes!!

I go here every week and can honestly say it is fabulous.<br/>Have had a few mix ups with meals every now and then (mostly when it's extremely busy) but the staff are fabulous and very professional if there ever is an issue.<br/>The meals are lovely, huge portions but always cooked beautifully, the chicken is very moist.<br/>Desserts and very very nice, cheesecake would be my favorite.<br/>Starters are certainly well priced for what you get!<br/>I can honestly say this place is worth every cent paid every time. The food and service is impeccable and the staff are terrific.<br/>Don't think twice if you want one hell of a bang for your buck :)

Perfect place to hang out with your friends. A great ambience and really good customer service. They 've got a bar as well along with the restaurant. Neat and clean premises. And must say, really good food.
