Review Ozone Coffee Roasters - Auckland

The salmon sourdough crumpet was delicious. Very fresh and interesting flavors. Good coffee as well. Friendly staff. No kids menu but you can put together something from the a la carte menu like scrambled eggs and toast etc.

A great place for Coffee and breakfast/brunch. It was busy when we arrived and had to put our names on a waiting list. Waited about 10 mins before being seated. Simple menu, but the food was delicious. Came out fast and the coffee was full of flavour. Dog friendly. Parking can be challenging at times

Absolutely fantastic experience right from the moment we walked in. Very attentive, knowledgeable and fast service. Impeccably gorgeous ambience with open kitchen. Stunning food and coffee. Very generous portions and everything tasted divine. The mushrooms, the chips and the incredible banana dip, fried chicken with pickles and smoked salmon. Top notch stuff guys, thanks heaps.

Good coffee. Keen to try out the variety of coffee offered. Keen to try more cabinet desserts and pastry. The meals are quality over quantity so a bit pricey for the amount offered but tasty.
Jimmy
These guys/gals make amazing coffee and eggs. But pricey but worth it

I was here with a friend of mine for Brunch. As I had heard, there was a long queue outside the door :) The staff was very kind in noting down my name on his list for entry. I must say, he allowed unbiased and proper entry to everyone on the waiting list and it was really good to see that! The food was really good and so was my Vanilla Chai. The staff was very warm, kind and had some great service skills. Would highly recommend them and visit again! :) Cheers

Lovely, airy space. Food and coffee were excellent, as was the service! Cafe is pet and child friendly.

The big breakfast was good ! Coffee wasn’t bad at all. The only issue was long waits for service, took more than 15 mins to take our orders. Just understaffed potentially? If you don’t mind the wait and not in a rush, then I would still recommend coming here, really enjoyed the open space/concept.

Visited Ozone yesterday afternoon with my partner. I had a banana smoothie which I really liked, but felt like it was a little too expensive ($9.50) for its size cos it came in a rather tiny glass. For the mains I had the Smoked Coopers Beach kahawai. The fancy description on the menu got me interested. I don't know what I was expecting exactly, but it was definitely not this. I didn't think smoked mussel XO would be a tartare sauce/mayo thing. The toast that came with it was also unexpected because it wasn't mentioned anywhere in the menu description, and tbh I kinda ordered it because I wasn't feeling up for bread (or carbs in general) at that moment. Felt like there was lots going on in the meal and it got a little confusing for my peasant tastebuds 😂 I didn't try the Brisket burger but my partner wasn't a big fan of it. Saving grace was the hand-cut chips that came with the Brisket Burger though – that and its complementing sauce were amazing.

Food and coffee is just as good as I remember from when I went to Ozone in London a few years ago! I was surprised to find it here in Auckland too, service was super lovely and quick. Got a bag of coffee beans ground for French press too. The lunch options aren’t available atm due to hospitality shortages so had the omelette and venison mince focaccia, would definitely recommend and can’t wait to try the lunch menu once it’s back up and running ☺️

First impression was: this place has a queue! Must be good! Upon arriving i managed to get a seat by the kitchen, guess the line was for large groups. The place is very spacious and bright, love the way the kitchen and roasters merged so nicely with the environment. The waiter came and took our orders, and she was suuuuper friendly and helpful! Asked if we had any questions about the menu which i dont usually get! Then our orders came, we got ice mocha, and i got the eggs benedict (staple first orders for any new cafe as baseline) and my partner got the big breakfast. The coffee was soooooo good, and smooth. And the food was spectacular! Even as big breakfast the food was different, and my eggs benedict was just perfect. After our food we just had to order another coffee, and i got the cold brew with earl grey and honey infused milk - heck I'd come back even just to get that coffee! This place is definitely one of my faves for a while!! I'm so coming back!!!

Not much of a coffee drinker but I’ve always had good experiences with Ozone. I think it’s the atmosphere and overall vibe which makes Ozone such a standout place to grab a coffee and sit down and just enjoy on your weekend morning. There’s so much natural light that gets into the cafe, and from what I’ve seen the cafe is dog-friendly which is a bonus if you love dogs. From what I’ve had coffee and food is not bad either.

Bhav our waiter had an AMAZING memory, and was very pleasant. Food was great, on time, it's a good child/dog friendly place, staff were smiley, my first cold brewed coffee with hazelnut infused milk was to die for and we would certainly return

Friendly staff. Very busy day but promptly seated. However, still took more than an hour before food came. Coffee size was small in comparison. Food was nice with good portion.
Came to Ozone for brunch with a friend. She got the Eggs Benedict with bacon ($21.5) and a flat white and I got the omlette ($20) and a oat latte. The cafe is welcoming, modern and warm. The service is 10/10, everyone was so lovely!
However, the prices are very high for what you get-especially the Eggs Benedict! My omlette was also meat-free and so, although it was quite large, $20 is a lot to pay for something that was made out if eggs, carrot and greens. I will say that the crispy kumara and feta dukkah significantly lifted the dish though. I also payed $5.80 for my oat latte, which was pleasant but not worth it if you also consider the small size and the fact both coffees were lukewarm! The quality of the food and coffee here is probably more like 4-4.5/5 stars but the portion sizes are severely lacking unfortunately!

I almost want to give this place a 1 star review because I don't want it getting popular and the flooded with women wearing lulu lemon pretending they know about coffee.
This place is easily my favourite coffee place. Everything about it is amazing, the open air kitchen, the retro modern factory decor, the most unique and perfect coffee and the stunning dishes. After trying most of their coffee menu I can safely say you will be in good hands at ozone. Prepare to have your coffee taste buds revolutionised. I literally fantasise about their coffee, enough said.
If you are feeling peckish you have to try their fries. Dare I say it beats fresh fries from a 2 am maccas run.
The highlight of their food menu might be the dairy cow, something you can't get in many places. It is worth every buck and taste like the chef has tattoos. I think he did actually.
Any self respecting foodie has to give this place a shot. Warning: you will fall in love.

A beautiful cafe with some beautiful food! We had a really enjoyable brunch at this hidden gem tucked away in Grey Lynn. They’ve got fantastic coffee and a big range of brunch food. I loved the omelette and the toast and have to say that all of their food looked delicious! The portion is reasonable for the price and there are plenty of add on options for those of you who love a good DIY!

I must of driven past here a thousand times and never popped in. I am regretting that now.

Not only is it reasonably priced, it serves some of the beat coffee on the shore.
By far the most chilled and relaxed coffee shop in Milford.

100% recommend the vietnamese coffee! :)

Interesting menu, great and personable staff, talented kitchen team. Can’t fault it for a decent brunch.

Can confirm the omelette is fire! Quite a large portion so a good option if your really hungry. Coffee is always amazing and the service is top class. 👌

Heard good things about this place so maybe my expectations were a bit too high and unfortunately they weren’t met. Very friendly and chatty waitress recommended the fry bread as the best dish on the menu. This came with a mound of greens that really did nothing for me. On the plus side the poached egg was cooked perfectly and the avo was really good. My friend ordered the big breakfast, which wasn’t as big as we were expecting (the waitress said he wouldn’t need to add an extra side as it was huge). He said the sausage was the best he has had and while the bacon didn’t look appealing it tasted great. Coffee was strong and bitter. Loved the big open space and kitchen with seats around the kitchen as well as booths and tables. Might give it one more shot but would definitely order another dish next time.
Vanessa
Disappointed that the eggs were cold. Are they pre cooked? It wasn’t busy at all so no excuse, nice menu I’d still go back.

I was never a fan of European-styled brunchie but this place totally changed my mind. Even though we both ordered smoked fish dishes, my Smoked Katikati Kahawai is surely the highlight of the meal. The combination of toasted whole-grain bread, shredded smoked katikati kahawai, fermented chilli, pickles, herbs, freshly-squeezed lemon juice and half raw egg york makes the taste very unique and standing-out compared to my boyfriend's hot smoked salmon. The presence of this dish is also a smash, giving one level up to the cuisine with that beautifully runny yellow york on top (well, who says no to this fried baby for brekkie tho). Everything is just so well-matched that my mouth couldn't help watering when the meal was served. Thanks chief! 👨‍🍳👩‍🍳

One of the best cold brew coffees I’ve had. The environment was really great. Cozy and comfortable. Food was great. The berry and chocolate scone was delicious. Will definitely visit again.

This place has the most amazing decor and atmosphere. Beautiful, open and sunny.
I’m not sure if recommend the mushrooms on toast, the spices and herbs are a bit overpowering and perhaps the creme fraiche could be swapped out for something a little more subtle tasting - it was too strong with the strong herbaceous flavours in the mushrooms
Lizzie
Such a cool place, amazing vibes the decor is so modern and seeing the coffee roasters at the back is so unique. The chips were some of the best I ever had with the vegan Aioli and the tiramisu was to die for! The pizzas were also delish especially the Margherita and the courgette one! Keen to come back for brunch

Came here with the family to eat brunch. The food was very good I had the bud breakfast it was a tad to oily for me and I thought it was going to be bigger but it still filled me up. Only problem was the wait times for food was a bit too long.

Very nice place. The open kitchen located at the central of the cafe. we seated on the bar where we can see every movement that chef made in the kitchen. Great service, coffees were good! Very interesting menu. Definitely pet friendly where dogs could stay Indoor next to your table. Coffee 4/5. Food 4/5. Service 3.5/5. The only downside is I was too close to the kitchen, I smell like I was doing my own cooking for a hour when walk out the cafe.

What a hidden gem this place is!
Love the space they have with a open kitchen right in the middle and a roastery next door.
The coffee was spot on and I’d never tried oat milk before and I’m glad I did cause it was soooo good!
The food was also delicious!!
Staff were friendly even though they were packed and didn’t feel rushed in anyway at all.
Definitely want to come back and try their mince on toast 😁

Lovely place for dinner. We went on a night they rolled out a new menu. The wine suggestions were very thoughtful - so were the descriptions of the cheese but we were much too full! The tasteful decor makes the converted industrial site feel cosy, but it pays to wear some layers if you run cold. Our table of 6 all kept our jackets on despite facing the pizza oven. Speaking of pizza, the crust is divine!

Checked this new place out for dinner the other night. Such a cool place, the interiors and environment are super cool and really nice setting for a group dinner. Not too loud or too quite. The food it’s good, we got a range of the pizzas, the Mushroom one was a stand out. The fries were epic! Super crunchy and golden on the outside and soft inside with a yummy seasoning on top with a delish aioli. The cocktails were also amazing and really decent pricing! But the glasses of wine are rather steep for the serving size. The only downfall of this place would be the service - really off. The waiters don’t seem to know much about the menu and were cold and really slow and made us feel uncomfortable. Hopefully this is just a teething problem!

Overall, really good experience on coffee, food and service (in photo, Big Brekkie and Braised wagyu mince on focaccia)

> They use their own coffee here, roasted in house, and the standard is quite damn high, you can't go wrong with either a cold brew on tap or a standard espresso based coffee.

> The bustling kitchen also puts out some very decent tasting food that you get to see them compile right in front of your eyes, it's kind of exciting when you see your order get put together bit by bit and then arrive right in front of you, so I'd recommend getting a bar seat here, a much better experience if you're going as a couple or a small group.

> Service as you'd expect, is also on point, and I don't know how the girls did it, they were attentive, on cue and always friendly, I mean this place was PACKED, must have been over 100 people here during peak lunch times but everything just kept coming - a bit slow but can totally understand given the amount of orders piling up in the kitchen.

> I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a decent meal with coffee, at $58.50 for two of mains and two coffees, it's really not bad, the portions are huge so you should definitely get a good meal out of it. > If you drive, I'd park on Richmond and walk in, parking inside is very limited and you can spend ages circling for a park and not find one.

Ozone is set in the recently developed, semi-industrail back blocks of Grey Lynn, hunkered down in the Westmoreland Road neighbourhood of business cool kids. Birthed out of their original 1998 New Plymouth cafe and roastery, the Auckland flagship is an impressive and surprising space, combining a full roastery, an open bar and kitchen along with varied and generous seating spaces. There’s the oooh and ahhh magic of the fit-out itself which feels a bit like Prefab in Wellington crossed with hipster vibes of a trendy Melbourne bar - New Plymouth has moved up to Auckland and is wiping the floor with us. But the menu… oh the menu! Looking past the layout and typography of the menu itself (designers can be such a finicky bunch), the selection was difficult due to too many tantalising options. Our meals were each epically crafted, beautifully plated and thoroughly grammable. From the carefully chosen ingredients, flavours and textures of each dish to the mindful selection of ethically-sourced coffee beans through to sustainable waste management, it seems thoughtfulness, care and positivity exude from the very pores of this place. Staff are helpful, prompt, engaging and seem genuinely happy to be there... and it makes perfect sense why they would. We fell in love too. And will be starry-eyed for a long time yet.

Check out our individual food reviews here: husk.co.nz/lunches/ozone-mar-2019

This coffee shop in Grey Lynn has quickly become one of my new favs. Located in a random industrial neighbourhood, Ozone really is a hidden gem. The interior is super cool, very spacious and industrial chic, the staff are all super lovely, and the on-site coffee roasting means the coffee here is great.

After coming here a few times for coffee I decided it was time to branch out and try the food as the menu looked fab. I ordered Velda’s 3-Cheese Italian Pancake which certainly was unlike any pancake I’d had before. It looked more like a quiche than a pancake, served as a thick wedge of crisp, cakey, cheesy goodness, topped with wilted silverbeet, a poached egg, creme fraiche and a peach chutney. Although the chutney caught me off guard with an almost Indian flavour, it somehow worked and every element on the plate came together very nicely. 8.5/10

Also tried the gluten-free blueberry pancake, which was a little more of traditional pancake number. Although instead of being served in a stack, it came out as one massive pancake the size of a whole plate. The pancake was SO thick and the texture was SO fluffy. It was topped with a very generous amount of blueberries, shortbread crumb and creamy labneh, providing an ideal balance of freshness, crunch and creaminess. Altogether very tasty 8/10

Will definitely be back to try more of the menu and will continue to make this place a regular!

Ambience - 4.5/5

Contemporary, Modern, Lively. Although parking is a tough one, understandable due to its location

Service - 3.5/5

Very friendly staff. Asked for booth and was told all of them were reserved but 1 of the booth was given to a walk in group

Food - 4.5/5

Ordered the following.

1. Veggie breaky: Delicious and fresh

2. Smoked Cheddar fry bread with avacado poached eggs fermented chilli yogurt and shoots:

This is the best of all. It wasnt just a gourmet dish, it was an experience, the first bite makes you feel as if you were living an "off the grid" life.

Chewing on the next green, fresh and nutritious plant that you can find in a densed jungle. It reminded me how our primates lived eating 'close to nature' food. Loved it!

3.Braised Wagyu Mince: Not bad at all, the pickle sauce was phenomenal and lots going on in the mouth with full of flavours

Most of all, their coffee experience was delicious. Definitely try their oatmeal drink with Raspberry Organic Coffee. This is my personal favourite

Loved the look of this new cafe/restaurant & the menu was interesting. We went twice to double check as our first experience at breakfast wasn’t fabulous. The food was ok & coffee very good. Se
Service was very friendly & efficient.
On the second visit for lunch we were encouraged to sit at the counter where we could watch the chefs at work. Wish we hadn’t. Open plastic containers of precooked bacon & drying slices of bread wasn’t very appetising. Please cover the food......
Had a tasty burger & fries (not a whiff of greens on the plate - was needed), & mince which was good.
A new brunch place, amazing location right next to Faro. I loved the open cafe concept. The lamington filled with passion fruit jam was my favourite. It was so big and filling. The scroll was okay though, a but dry and dense.

About a month ago, a few foodies and I went along to the opening of Ozone Coffee Roasters in Grey Lynn, where we sampled some of their menu dishes and got to know more about their brand. At the opening, I came across a long table at the back of the eatery and thought “this would be perfect for the NZ Bloggers Brunch Club!”

So, a few weekends’ ago, I hosted my first NZ Bloggers Brunch Club at Ozone Coffee! There were about 20 bloggers in total, and it was lovely to welcome some new faces along, as well as catch up with old friends.

Aesthetically pleasing café with amazing food.
Coffee (cold-brew I think it was) with oat milk was delightful! Definitely will be a regular here💜

Highly highly rate this cafe. The atmosphere is great, gives off an industrial feel. The staff are friendly but what impresses the most is their coffee and food. I got the tofu (forgot the full name) and it was just packed full of flavour.
Highly recommend for brunch.

Love the interior decor. Staff are exceptionally nice! Even though they just opened for a few days but the service was smooth. Cant wait to be back.
