Review De' Niro - Auckland

Amazing food at amazing prices. Went for lunch, ordered a couple of pasta dishes and had both delivered, freshly made, within 10 minutes. Will probably come here again.

Had the seafood risotto and the truffle spaghetti. The truffle spaghetti wasn't too truffle flavoured but it did taste good with the salty pieces of cured meat (i think). The pasta was al dente which I like. The risotto was not bad, not too much seafood but still nice. It has little bits of prawn and squid inside. Overall not a bad meal especially on boxing day.

I really enjoyed the pizza! Little bit thin but this style was better. If you tell them a table number, they will bring it to your table. Lunch specials were only 11$

Was craving the spaghetti bolognese from here, which has been my comfort food since 2019, so I ordered and it was perfect just as always. None of that excess mince and no sauce or excess sauce and no mince that other places do. Always exactly what I'm after, perfectly balanced, and the portion size especially is just right. I ordered for delivery this time but have always received the warmest service from all the staff anytime I have been in person (which back in 2019/2020 was almost weekly). Also they did a truffle and proscuitto special pasta two weeks ago and it kills me that it is not on the permanent menu. Please consider bringing it back (and please let me know when/if you do!).

Friendly fast service. Pepperoni pizza for $13 made an adequate lunch. Elliot Stables is a convenient location for a city refreshment stop.

I was a bit skeptical at the rating, but it was way better than I expected. Large servings too, usually, when you order spaghetti, you don’t get enough to fill your tummy, let alone two people. Ordered the carbonara, very creamy, made with béchamel sauce. It was very good and well made. On the other hand, the chicken is something you can prepare at home.

We had two different stakes tonight and both been absolutely incredible. Reasonable pricing, and the food was just right. Will be back to try more options.

Good flavour qnd taste. Crust was thin but not crunchy. Kids liked it. A bit small.

I went with 2 other friends and we all were very happy with the pastas that we ordered. I had the penne arribiata which was perfectly cooked and even better than in Italy. The service was good with friendly staff. You sit at tables within a food court shared with other restaurants. It makes for a lively environment and I would certainly recommend this place to anyone who likes casual dining.

I went here for the $10 lunch special; chicken fettuccine! The food was absolutely delicious and worth the price. Not to mention even without the special it is $13 so not a bad price for decent pasta in the city. It was very filling and pretty friendly service. One thing was maybe that it took a while to be delivered to the table but overall a great experience and will definitely come back.

I got the risotto which I absolutely loved. The portion size was so big that I couldn't finish the dish. My friend got the carbonara which was also very good. Would recommend.

Love going here for lunch! Pasta is tasty, and a good price.

We came at around 9 pm that's probably why the person at the counter was kind of grumpy. I asked first if I could still order and if they were closing yet - she said yes and no. So I ordered, but from when she took my order up to when I got my food, she was not very friendly nor accommodating (I know she was probably just very tired). The lasagna I got was pretty good. They cooked it from scratch even though we arrived late (I watched the chef for a bit). The tomatoes were fresh and didn't come a can. Overall, the quality of the food was good for the price.

The customer service last night was awful. The blonde girl who took our order did not seem happy to be there at all and even less to serve us. I will definitely be taking my business somewhere else

Okay visit #5 to the popular Elliot stables dining area and this time tried Italian and we had chicken fettuccine and a seafood salad, ate on site where you can see the cook make this and love the dishes and just like any typical Italian dish to me so cannot really comment any further on the dishes as i am not one, am sure is is good eh.

Had Bolognese Spaghetti, and it was good. However I was expecting a lot more of minced meat inside. But pasta was freshly cooked and nice. Good wine options with it too.

Definitely not bad food but that said, the food was a little too expensive for what was given. Overall not bad and being located in the lively Elliot stables makes it a great place to be with friends.

Had the most terrible experience here - I ordered a spaghetti Bolognese which was on a lunch deal. I am allergic to lamb, and the spaghetti absolutely smelled of lamb. I have complained, and without even looking at the food they said nothing is wrong with the food and did not offer any other options. Am very disappointed and never going back.

I tried two pizzas on two separate occasions and the quality was just abysmal. It looked cheap and tasted worse. <br/><br/>There are only two plausible explanations that I could think of, either they are providing low-quality food to their Mealpal customers, or they generally make awful pizzas. In either of these cases, I would not want to have food at a restaurant that indulges in either of these practices.

Went at lunch time for the $10 spaghetti bolagnase... was very bland, no real taste to it what so ever. The mince tased like it had been frozen and then reheated. The pasta was a very low qualify too.. terrible experience and not coming back.

Chicken fettuccine was $10 for the lunch special today. Chicken wasn’t too dry and mushrooms were soft. Pasta was flavoured well. Loved the texture of the fettuccine. It was very good for its price. Serving size was also decent. Food came out really fast.

First time visiting Elliott Stables, even though i’ve known about this place for many years I just never had the urge to try it out because of the not so great reviews I had heard from friends who had dined here in the past. <br/><br/>Firstly when we walked in, the place had a food court vibe which wasn’t expected but obviously a bit more done up with the wooden interior look it had to it. After having a quick look around we made the decision to eat italian and went to De Niro. We ordered a vegetarian pizza and spaghetti bolognese. My vege pizza tasted so yum! It tasted so authentic and I think it was wood fired which is what I enjoyed the most about it. The spaghetti bolognese however wasn’t the best i’ve tried, took a few bites and it tasted quite ‘meaty’ which was different because you usually can’t taste the mince in bolognese as much since the sauce usually takes over, but for some reason it tasted quite weird. The best part was that both meals were only $13 each which was a surprise to me as you would usually pay double the price for authentic Italian food else where. <br/><br/>All in all, it was not a bad place and not a bad experience, I would definitely dine at De Niro again and try out all the other different cuisines as well.

Had lunch here yesterday with my wife had beautiful chicken and mushroom pizza and chicken mushroom fettuccini ,beautiful food cheap lunch , first time will definitely be back , so many people leave negative feedback , there obviously unhappy people in life generally

We tried prosciutto pizza and spaghetti fruiti de mare. Pizza came out soft and soggy, pasta came with a few squids and prawns. Taste normal. Wouldn't come back, too disappointed and not worth the money

Terrible experience. It started by them asking us to sit outside, we sat down for a few minutes, the table was then assigned to another group, which created some confusion and awkward situation. <br/>Then my penne came so over cooked that I couldn’t stick it with a fork, I literally ate it by putting the prongs of the fork through the tunnel of the penne.<br/>My boyfriend’s pizza was undercooked.<br/>They also closed the doors of the restaurant and we couldn’t get water.

A great place to go if you are not sure what you feel like, there’s plenty of options to get your palate going and the place feels like a party. De Niro has a great atmosphere and although stuck in the far corner provides wonderful and tasty cuisine.

Terrible service. Just came from a work lunch with 3 other patrons at this establishment. All four of us ordered the exact same dish, you would think that each of us would have received our meals at the same time due to this but nope. After watching each and EVERY single customer who ordered after we had, receive their orders BEFORE us, one of patrons finally received their meal before the other 3 of us. 20 minutes prior to the rest of us in fact. After bringing this to the attention of one of their staff we received a response of "well you should've made it clear when you ordered that you were in a rush". Wow. Shit service. Shit staff. Shit restaurant. Ok'ish food

After waiting 45 minutes for one spaghetti dish my partner was most underwhelmed! The spaghetti was majorly under seasoned and the seafood had no flavour! Bland pasta led to only half of it being eatan as after 45 minutes obviously you would be hungry. First and last visit to there. However there was one upside. Only one girl was running food and kept her poise even though it was quite obvious she was being run off her feet. Good job!

One of my favourite places to go to have lunch with friends when I'm craving pasta! My friends and I come here often and the service is great aswell as the quality of food.<br/><br/>They are very flexible with the menu being able to order any dish as a vegetarian plate while still tasting amazing 😍 Dinner menu is a bit more pricy than the lunch menu but overall great service and 10/10 carbs!

Ordered the Penne Arrabbiata for my lunch. It comes with a selection of vegetables, olives and tomatoes. It didn't take for the food to come to my table which was a good thing, however that's where it ends. The penne was flavourless and it was supposed to be a vegetarian dish however I got a piece of chicken in it. A big no no for someone who has ordered vegetarian food to get chicken or any other meat in their dish. It felt as if the penne was left in some tomato gravy and served with some slices of mushrooms, 3 pieces of black olives and a wee bit of vegetables (could not see much of these in the dish). I am big fan of Italian food and I was totally disappointed with my meal at De Niro. My mate had ordered Chicken Fettuccini and he was complaining that it didn't have enough sauce. Classic Manu (MKR) tag line - "Where is my sauce" came to my mind.. De Niro guys, please make an effort to make your food with some love and taste it before you serve it..

I love the pasta here but I am always skeptical when dining in a group, as it can take ages to get your food.<br/><br/>Most recently I was not disappointed as the service was much faster than my other favourite at Elliot Stables, Bonz Cajun Kitchen.<br/><br/>The carbonara and fettuccine are both excellent and serve as the ultimate comfort food. And at $13.00 for lunch, it is a real bargain. Keep up the great work!

One of the nice tasting Italian restaurants in terms of their pasta in Elliot Stables. My favourite is the Penne Con Pollo which has a great balance of saltiness and creaminess. The cream and cheese weren't that thick which lightens up the whole dish and makes it more tastier. The mushrooms in it were perfectly sautéed and has absorbed a good amount of the sauce. The spaghetti is also another good dish but I would go for the con pollo personally. The two dishes weren't thick and this made me want to eat more and more. The quality of the pastas were standard, but it was cooked nicely with a good texture. For the price, the serving size was reasonable. $60 for two is ideal. <br/><br/>Taste - 8.5/10<br/>Quality - 7/10<br/>Size - 8/10<br/>Price - 7.5/10

De Niro est un excellent resturanté. La pizza est servie rapidement. Mon favoris est la margarita et Di pollo. De Niro est meilleur pour la Pizza dans la Auckland.

Have never dined at Elliot Stables, and decided to give it a try. Walking in felt like you were in some part of Europe! Since Italian is one of my top cuisines, I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo and shared a Pepperoni Pizza with a friend. Good and prompt service from the staff, which i was pleased with. The food came out within 10 minutes, and it was so mouth watering to see the pasta being served to me. Thumbs up to the presentation of their food! In terms of taste, there was a decent amount of bechamel sauce which tasted so nice and creamy. The fettuccine was cooked nicely, not chewy or rough at all. The pizza was also delicious; loved the melted cheese and italian salami on top. Keen to come back! Very pleased.

Had lunch today there.ordered Hawaiian pizza. Well it was a worst pizza I ever had!! The base was undercooked and soggy. I did not have much time or energy to address this issue with the restaurant staff. So I just left! Never going back!

We had Italian Mussels with some herb bread in the side, and Seafood Risotto.<br/>The green lipped mussels were huge, and delicious. The bread was definitely needed to stop up the delicious sauce with the mussels.<br/>The risotto was excellent. Creamy and rich with huge prawns and delicate shrimps.<br/>

Ordered the spaghetti carbonara but something wasn't quite right. The broth/sauce was quite tasty, but the texture /consistency of the sauce was a bit off. It wasn't creamy as you'd expect a cream based pasta dish to be. At least the flavour was still there.<br/><br/>Also tried their garlic bread for the first time and was disappointed. It looked more like a thin pizza base dripped with a little bit of garlic flavoured olive oil. Is this how it's like in Italy? (I have no idea but it is definitely not what I was hoping to eat).

This place is delicious. If you are a yummy rissotto I would go here! Had the vegetarian and chicken rissottos here - perfect balance! I love the texture of the rice and the thickness of the sauce. The service is quick too!

Another great restaurant option at Elliot st stables. I went for a traditional Pepperoni pizza which was delicious! My sister had the fettuccine Alfredo which was also tasty!

Go to De Niro's for 5 star quality meals. They are consistant in their preparations. The only place we have found that cook eye Fillet steaks to perfection. And the chefs are Italian. I prefer well done and always get served the most succulent juicy steak time and again. We dine there at least 3-4 times a month and have tried their seafood which is to die for, their garlic bread is out of this world. As is most of their meals but my favourite is the Filetto.

Who says that this place is any good. Ordered a seafood pizza and carbonara dish. There's like NO FLAVOUR AT ALL with the pasta dish. And the pizza is made with canned tuna and rubbery calamari. Never coming here again.

Took a chance and ordered pizza and lasagna.Was a great night out with my favourite chef Paula.we decided to order the vegeterian pizza and beef lasagna and share.Lasagna was good, need some seasoning but good tomato souce base.The pizza was the winner tonight.Good thin base with delicious mozzarella and good fungi.Price is ok.

We have only ordered a pizza so the review cannot reflect other dishes on offer. The pizza is a decent size with thin base and a clean Italian taste. It's nicely presented with lots of toppings.

Last time I came here for a work function and was so unimpressed by their pasta. However, since they have been receiving pretty good reviews and the price is pretty good, I decided to give it a second chance.<br/><br/>Unfortunately I have to say is it will also be the last. I had the fettuccine Alfredo, my sister had the penne amatriciana, and both of us found the food completely bland. It did not taste like anything. The serving sizes were small, and there will hardly any pieces of mushrooms. <br/><br/>The service is okay and the atmosphere is good. I still love Elliot Stables because of how beautiful it is, however I will never order pasta from this place again :(

Amazing Italian! The wine tasted crisp and delicious. We ordered the vegetariana pizza and the penne de Niro . The pizza was out of the world. The pasta was tasty too. The girls at the reception however weren't very helpful, unsmiling and had no idea what aglio olio meant. This would have gotten a perfect 5 if not for the attitude of the girls at the reception.

Had dinner last night at De Niro and ordered the Chicken Risotto, was very disappointed with what I got, the rice was dry and it tasted just like a chicken strogonoff on rice.<br/>The price paid I would expect a very good quality well made risotto, what I got was just plain boring rice with a dash of sauce. <br/>I had a taste of the pizza and was also not impressed.<br/>I don't recommend.

We came here for lunch today after a shopping trip in the city. Ordered the ham and mushroom pizza and a chicken salad to share. The pizza was lovely and a great size for the price. It had an authentic Italian feel to it and tasted like a "proper" pizza should. The chicken salad was also nice and came with a tasty vinaigrette on the side. The only downside to the salad was the amount of toppings - a fair amount of chicken although it was finely diced so appeared as if there was more, maybe 4 chunks of tomato and a couple of slices of cucumber. The majority of the salad was the mesclun leaves but it was tasty nonetheless. Definitely wouldn't pay the full dinner price though! Service was okay, nothing to rave about though.

These guys do a tasty vegetarian pizza (& pasta & other such Italian goodies) which they make so<br/>fast. Sneakily ordered a kids size which is a decent lunch serving on its own. My favourite place at the stables!

I've been to De Niro once before catching a movie. With its warm vibe, De Niro is a nice place to cosy up with your loved ones especially at night. I love the feel of Elliot Stables; there is nothing quite like it in Auckland. I ordered the Calamari dish. It was nice but it didn't stand out. I may come back to try some pizza's if I'm ever in the area.

I've been here plenty of times. I used to frequent Elliot Stables when I was a Uni student and De Niro was my favourite place inside. I love their cheaper lunch deals which fitted with my student budget back then. <br/><br/>I went back here recently with my sister before watching a show and I'm glad that it is still the same. This place hasn't changed and it still delivers good food. <br/><br/>I had the chicken fettuccine and my sister got the pizza with prosciutto and mushrooms. We shared both dishes and there was so much food. We loved both dishes. <br/><br/>This place hasn't disappointed me since going here a few years ago. I will keep coming back as long as it still has great food at affordable prices.<br/><br/>The service was also great and our food came out so quickly.

I went here for a date night, there was an awesome jazz band there and the atmosphere of Elliot Stables is just gorgeous.<br/>The food from De Niro is a bit pricey but they give generous portions and their pastas are very simple, fresh, well made and homey so I think it's worth it.

My friend and I came here recently for dinner, and both were pretty pleased I had a pizza with prosciutto and mushroom, and it was really great. It's a generous size, so you could probably have it between two people, but I was pretty hungry so didn't feel like doing that haha. She had a risotto and said her meal was nice too. Last time we came to Elliott Stables she had the risotto too so I guess that's a good review of it, to be a repeat customer.

My partner and I ordered a pizza from here and it was lovely. Priced quite high but the taste and quality is definitely worth it. Elliot stables is a beautiful place to dine and if you head there some time, I'd definitely recommended their pizzas.

Food tastes great. I have tried multiple items and can say the standard is good. It won't break the bank either.<br/><br/>However, portion size can be inconsistent (I had ordered the same dish twice). This is the only reason I won't give it a 5.

The counter lady was really friendly and superb in taking the order. No dramas there. We ordered one spaghetti bolognaise and the vegetarian pizza. The Elliot stables is just like a posh food court. So we told them the table we were sitting at and they deliver the food to you. About 15 minutes later our food arrived. The spaghetti was nice and simple but fresh and tasty. Now the pizza was amazing. Really good toppings and the base really tasted so good I could have eaten just that as bread on its own.<br/><br/>One thing this place does lack is a central place to get drinks. Going back to get drinks meant leaving your belonging unattended or fear that they think you have left and clear away your food.

Awesome ambience which is characteristic of Elliot Stables. Order was fairly quick, however it was late for lunch time so keep that in mind. I ordered the $13 chicken fettuccini which was very reasonable and rich in flavour. It was lacking in chicken however. I got about 4 pieces of small chicken at best. But overall a good taste to the pasta so wouldn't make too much of a big deal.

The staff was nice and the food was quick to come. I ordered the chicken pizza and the pumpkin pasta(?) which came as a surprise, as I'd been expecting pasta for the pumpkin plate when the actual thing that came was more like a gratin or a risotto. The pumpkin gratin's taste was too thick and the pizza had too much cheese but overall it was very nice and I'd like to go again.

Bellissimo - The food is fantastic here. Incredibly authentic and impeccably tasty. I honestly cant get over the pumpkin cannelloni. Seriously Aaaaaaazing. Im almost surprised at how they can make something so amazing and yet so fast, the service and delivery to my table was so quick. I will surely be back and reordering the cannelloni again. Loved Elliot Stables! Chose this place because we both liked Italian and were really happy with our decision. The staff were friendly and the food was made reasonably fast. Love that they served this chicken risotto which not many Italians do but it's one of my faves! My friend loved her pizza too. Definitely will be back!

Went to Deniro for lunch at Elliott stables. The staff there are really friendly and the owner Aleksandr is awesome guy. The pizza we had was one of the best I've had in a while. The base was the best part. Can't wait to go back

We had dinner here. Very friendly service and great food. Portion is huge! Pizza is thin crust and a lots of cheese. Risotto was great with a lot of shrimp and prawn but it had soy bean taste to it..I don't know, it wasn't only tomato taste. We will be back ;)

A very different kind of food court setting. Ambience is amazing. Lot of happening people around, makes the ambience more lively. <br/><br/>For food I ordered latini and chicken pizza. Latini was average whereas pizza was amazing. <br/><br/>The place was quite affordable for the ambience. Service was good. Not much service received as you go to your table and get served. But nothing to mark down on either. <br/><br/>Overall a good experience.

I love the Elliott Stables area when eating in groups because everyone can sort of get what they want and then all regroup back at one table. <br/><br/>This visit, I opted to try their Fettuccini Alfredo and it was so good! It was very creamy, like a good carbonara style pasta, and the bacon and mushrooms were the perfect touch. Sometimes bechamel sauce can be a bit overwhelming in terms of the creaminess, so it was great that there was texture and bursts of flavour in the pasta. Portion sizes are really decent for under $15 so I definitely recommend this place for an al dente pasta lunch.<br/><br/>The pizzas they make also looked amazing. I admit to sneaking a cheesy slice for myself and found the crust a right mix of doughy and crispy for me, perhaps more on the thin and burnt side though.

A good place to go when you want a hearty meal. <br/><br/>Their pastas have always been generous in both portion size as well as the amount of protein they put in. Food is always fast. <br/><br/>The only thing lacking, is that it doesn't appear that they make their own pasta which is a bit of let down to the dish as well as to the price.

Not accomodating. Sadly, I had a bad experience with the staff, so I'm not coming back. My order was mixed up, and I felt like I was coerced by the staff to just take the already made pasta so they wouldn't have to make another one.

Elliot Stables have long been a go-to for us on date nights, it's loud, dim, busy and genuinely feels as if you're in holiday on europe. It's an ideal place to gather large groups as there's plenty to choose from and you're not limited to one restaurant. De Niro provides beautiful pizzas and pastas at a reasonable price, I find service is usually slow on weekends as they're at full capacity but the mains are large and a doggy bag usually makes for 2 meals.

Great food well sized portions, couldn't actually finish mine because it was a good big size! It was good enough to finish but I was just too full!  $10 pasta for lunch it was great , would have spent more on it for sure. It just shows you can have great food for a good price ! <br/>Well worth going for dinner aswell for around the $20 mark still isn't a bad price especially for the taste.

We were initially attracted to De Niro by it's unique location in Elliot Stables and how is appears romantic and cosy. However, the atmosphere wasn't that special as they could of played up the theme or added candles and more decorations. We were the only people in the restaurant and the service wasn't amazing, I had to ask for water and get salt myself - even though staff were doing practically nothing. I ordered the chicken fettuccine which was frankly a let down, and was lacking of flavour. My partner ordered the carbonara which is our recommendation. The italian white wine was very nice. The staff werent that friendly and should of made more of an effort given we were the only people in the restaurant. They overcharged me $24 which was disappointing but I was given a refund with no issues. I would recommend De Niro to focus on improving their service - as it is essential to make customers feel special and wanted, and focus on key apsects of their menu, and make their atmosphere more unique.

While their pizzas are a liiittle on the skimpy side, they're well constructed, arrive quickly, and are rather delicious. Priced at $13 a pop, they're a wallet-friendly buy, too.

Loved the look and feel of Elliot Stables.<br/><br/>Chose to dine with De Niro, ordering their Greek Salad at $16 <br/>What a waste of time and money  that was.  The salad looked as though a whole packet of mesculin had been tipped on to a plate with only a couple of pieces of cucumber and a few olives.  <br/>Google a recipe for greek salad, De Niro chefs and lift your game! <br/><br/>Sadly at Elliot Stables once you have ordered and received your meal, there is no further attention given you by the waiting staff of the restaurant you have ordered from, or I would have said something at the time.

Having a business meeting in the city on Monday, we took the opportunity of revisiting Elliott Stables and decided to eat at De Niros as Italian food is one of our favourites and they were offering good lunch specials ($10 pastas and $12 pizzas). We shared a Pepperoni pizza and the Penne Arabiata (vegetarian) pasta. The pizza was delicious with a light base and tasty pepperoni, cheese and sauce. The pasta was simple and tasty, and the service was fast and efficient. The only down side was that the lunch special prices advertised on zomato, and supposedly updated very recently, had been changed about a year ago and were now $13 for each dish. The pasta was a light (i.e. small) serving and perhaps reasonable at $10 but not worth $13.

Went here on Saturday night. Atmosphere and the staff were great, however my Lasagne was rather average. Was a bit under cooked, and tasted like it had been in a plastic container too long before cooking.

De Niro Restaurant is the worst place in Auckland.We visited today for launch for my friends birthday im very dissapointed how they threat us not realy impressed from their food also we was waiting long time 40min for our meals to arrive,after a long time waiting for a meal finally our table was served but they served us with two wrong meals what?Meals been horrible if i cooked for myself i could do better then the chef,we hasn't been asked for coffees i think they been trying to close up the place for their staff to have launch as seen half of their staff already been gone and others been eating in the kitchen and watching us what we are doing honestly they been trying to get off us,i dont think so ill go back there again,rude staff,horrible meals.

Worst customer service ever. Went there for lunch today and ordered risotto, waited 25 minutes and chicken fettucine came so I said that this was not my order. Waited for another 25 minutes until I got up to see what was up, the guy said "what do you want now?" - very rude. I said that I was still waiting for my meal, he called one of the guys inside. Stormed out to yell at me saying he already gave that order to table 28 and that it was my own fault for telling him the wrong table number when I hadn't even told the guy my table number (#65) - hooow nice. So I asked for my money back.<br/>They are simply rude and clueless about customer service. I won't recommend this restaurant ever again.

This restaurant is always our choice for pizza. We tried pasta as well but was not so nice. As for pizza, they are very lovely and price is not bad neither. Since this restaurant is in Elliot Stables, the experience gets even better. Love to go for a casual dinner, well recommended.

Pizza was delicious and quick. It is so light, not stodgy like the usual takeaway pizzas.<br/>This is my second time there and I enjoyed it both times.

The most terrible meal I've ever had. Think they must have tried cooking the mussels in the microwave. I couldn't even pull them away from the shell. They were tough, cold and not fresh. Seemed a few people weren't happy, going up to the counter to see where their orders had got to etc. Seemed quite disorganized. Definitely won't be back.

Saw a Greek salad on the menu and it was just what I felt like. Saw buckets of rocket behind the counter and asked if this made up the majority of the salad - server said "no, it's a proper Greek salad". It came out and was a PILE OF ROCKET with a few bits of feta, a couple of olives, a bit of tomato and 2 slices of cucumber sprinkled round the edges of the plate. No salad dressing - only a small slice of lemon. I took it back and said 1. It's not Greek 2. I'm not paying $15 for rocket piled onto a plate 3. You assured me it had little rocket in it before I ordered. The chef argued with me and said the menu stated the salad included "mixed leaves". The girl at the counter was quite good - apologetic - and asked me what I'd like to swap it for. Ended up getting a Prosciutto pizza which was quite nice - although, topped with rocket I must add - and at that stage I'd lost my appetite. I won't be going back to De Niro's. Very average food, very average service, and a less than average experience.

Salad was disappointing but the pizza was fine. Staff were hardly enthused by our group of loud, hungry colleagues but they handled us well.

I ordered a rocket and parmesan salad and when it came out was a bowl of just rocket. When I asked where the parmesan was the waiter didn't know it came with parmesan :( then went back to check and came back saying they had run out. Not to offer something else or a discount and just expect that's OK is not acceptable and paying $10 for just rocket is a rip :(

We usually eat a dinner at De Niro Ristorante and Pizzeria Bar whenever we stay in Auckland. It is consistently good, reliable and always meets our expectations.<br/><br/>We've also taken friends and family there for lunch and found the same.<br/><br/>The Stables on Elliot is like a village within a city. It's always abuzz with conversation, laughter and action. And, as a popular place to eat before a concert, show or film, it can be VERY crowded and busy. <br/><br/>The central seating area is surrounded by your choice of foods. From memory there's Spanish, German, French, Cajun and Japanese. And we've tried the Japanese outlet and enjoyed it. But nine times out of ten - or make that 19 out of 20 - we head for De Niro and enjoy it thoroughly.<br/><br/>The menu has been pruned recently, but our favourites are still there. We invariably order the spagetti bolognese for my wife and the seafood pasta (SPAGHETTI FRUTTI DI MARE)for me. We share a rocket salad and either order their Italian Pinot Grigio by the glass or, if we're being reckless, by the bottle. <br/><br/>The prices have also increased, but it's still excellent value for an excellent meal in exciting surroundings. <br/><br/>Our last dinner, with three glasses of wine was $75.70<br/><br/>While service is friendly, it can a bit sporadic when it gets busy because diners can sit anywhere in a large, spread out seating area and aren't necessarily in view of the restaurant. It would help if wait staff circulated more and stood around in the restaurant less. As it is, the wait staff don't actually look around when they walk through the dining area and they should. As a result, I have had to get up from our table more than once to ask for additional service. That's my only criticism.

Not great. I have ordered from this place a few of times and I am a big lover of Italian food. Pizza was so so, Lasagne was terrible. The food is very pricey for what it is as it is not great quality at all. The problem with Elliot stables and restaurants enclosed within is that no one wants to take ownership of problems. Trying to get a glass of water out of these guys is as difficult as it would be in the Sahara (and boy it can get just as hot in Elliot Stables as that).

I certainly WON'T be going there again and nor will my family and friends!! We went to the Stables on Saturday for lunch. I ordered from De Niro's 10 minutes before the rest of our party had ordered from other places and they all got their meals before me. I had to ask if mine was coming. I ordered the Calamari salad and what I received was a plate full of salad greens and maybe 10 fried squid rings over the top with a drizzle of dressing and that cost $19.90 I did let the staff know what I thought but feel very strongly that others should know too.

The Chicken Fettucini @ $21.90 is DIVINE!!! MMMMMMMMM... YUMMY!!! I thought the food was well priced and delicious. Atmosphere is nice and very handy for the Aotea Centre if you're off to a show. Um... only down side was the slow service.... Waited 45 mins for our mains and had to eat quick as we were going to a show. But just come early as the food is worth the wait :-)

A very very average meal. I got the prawns on rice. The rice was hard. They came served with grilled vegetables and rocket. I thought coming with both was a bit strange and not particularly Italian. The carrot was grilled, but still hard (it obviously hadn't been cooked enough). The prawns were bland. Not what I would expect for the price! Give this place a miss.

Unfortunately we have nothing good to say about this restaurant. Went there for dinner last night, the chips took 45 minutes to arrive. Now, for chips this is unacceptable, and to make it worse when we mentioned the time it took, the waiter just snapped "well we're not a fish and chip shop". Obviously you have rookies in the kitchen. Secondly, ordered a takeaway bacon pasta and for $25 I expected it to be quite decent. When we got home and opened the container, it was a entree size (honestly), it was a teeny tiny serving. And had to pick the bits of bacon out as it was the cheap nasty gristle ridden stuff. Pick up your game De Niro, dissappointed big time all round.

The atmosphere of Elliot stables is amazing in it's self but adding de niro's food into the mix spells out the perfect venue for good wholesome Italian food. I ordered the pumpkin cannelloni which was delicious especially the sauce! Sure will be visiting again! Great vibe, service and food.

This is my favourite pizza place in Auckland. The staff are very happy to Adjust the vegetarian pizza to be vegan. I love the atmosphere in Elliot stables, it feels very European. I'm not normally into a lot of noise when I eat but I think here, it gives it a great feel. <br/>The pizza's themselves are really tasty, the bases are just perfect. My partner and I both agree they are the closest thing to real Italian pizza you can get here in NZ. However, they aren't the cheapest thing going, about $25/ea but they are worth it.

The pizzas are sooo food here!! Deniro is located inside Elliot stables so there is plenty of seating and a great atmosphere. We've had the pizza here many times and has never disappointed us. Our fav is probably the seafood pizza. Amazing. We haven't tried the other types of food on the menu but can only imagine that it is just as good. Highly recommend this joint to anyone looking for some yum as gormet pizzas. Woof.
