Great service. Quick turn around of approx 1.5hr for two custom gaskets from a walk in customer. Sharp price and texted us as soon as they were ready for pick up.

Coffee here used to be THE best when the Samoan guy (think he's Samoan? Might even be the owner?) was making them. Since then they havent tasted the same. Unsure if it's the person or the products?

Once upon a time Gasket was always my first choice in Ellerslie and the coffee was always spot on. It was always busy and humming with most tables full and people waiting for take out etc. Not these days. The coffee cart along the road gets more customers and after 3 sips of my flat white it was really disappointing and I headed over the bridge into Ellerslie for a decent coffee. Ran into a friend yesterday who works at the Heart Foundation along the road and you also used to be her no.1 Cafe but not anymore, she always heads over the bridge for coffee/lunch. What happened??? Such a great location and once beautiful coffee and food....

Paid $10 for a potato hash cake, got a muffin that tasted like food stuffing. Service rude.

Next time we are in town we will be back! Lovely food, and the free hot chocs for the kids very generous. Keeps both the kids and parents happy! Awesome stuff

This is still a good cafe for food but they're no longer great for coffee. It had been my go to place for coffee (Pete the barista was awesome) but the coffee's been less than ideal for the last 6 months or so. I'm sad - sorry Gasket peeps :-(.

Overpriced and below average food. Tried the soup of the day, Asian soup.. watery soup with frozen seafood covered with ginger and what feel like random left over fridge veggie. Dont think we will return.

Fabulous tasty healthy food and great coffee in a relaxed spot close to home

Great food.

Got an iced Mocha from them and it tastes like water, no flavour at all. Ended up throwing away half the cup cause it was that bad. I would rather drink my water. Worst way to spend $8 I guess.

Nice spacious cafe with a kids’ area with books and toys. Food is quite nice too. Coffee was warm not hot. Location not very handy to access as it is right at the corner off the Ellerslie Highway. Been here a few times as we love the ambience. Orders as per photos.

The Gasket Cafe has gone backward in the past year and its not great.
If you complain about your food the manager will blame you for being too picky. Cold coffee and much the same for my meal. Real shame as I once rated this place as one of the better cafes around Ellerslie.

The corporate locals go here because it is close to them and convenient – without them they do not have a business.

Gasket was once a ground breaking cafe with many different treats and lunch fare to tempt everyone who went. It is now a training ground for inexperienced staff and a manager who is scrambling to know what to do.

I will be visiting other cafes for a better experience.

Coffee quality has dropped since their main barrister left...not a great selection of foods but nice environment, also has a conference style room. Was one of my locals for coffee but not anymore, sadly.

This place is very beautiful I love the aesthetic of it because that’s what drew me in in the first place!

This morning I had a brownie and mocha!
The brownie was absolutely amazing! I loved it very very much
But the coffee could me better! It really wasn’t that good!

But the meals looked great tho

My colleagues and I decided to catch up over breakfast this morning and we chose this place as we'd never been here before and felt like trying something new.

The food was all right albeit a little over-priced considering the location and the simplicity of the dishes.

We arrived in pairs at different times but the staff member who attended to us was abrupt and unfriendly. No welcoming smile on her face and altogether a little off putting.

Sighed and exhaled audibly when we asked questions and wasn't very hospitable at all

Lovely cafe tucked away in Ellerslie. Has a roomy and funky feel to the space. I had the couscous salad which was recommended by a work colleague. It was a lovely salad with many ingredients and a dressing that was an enigma as we tried to replicate it. Any hints on that? I have returned to this cafe and had a takeout mixed salad. It was enough for 2 people and delicious as usual.

Closest cafe to my workplace but I'd rather walk to one of the better cafes in Ellerslie town. Hot drinks are warm at best since their barista left. Wait times for anything varies extremely while staff have their backs to customers and giggle amongst themselves. Rude staff and grumpy at best. Very few healthy food options. And they pack up everything an hour before they close, unheard of in the food service industry.

A beautiful looking cafe very vibrant green and give you a refreshing feeling. Very funky kind of seating styles.

Is located in a busy office hub in central Auckland.

The food and drink options are very healthy hearty and some are organic stuff too.

Coffees are great and food is flavoursome. They do serve you freshy baked food items too.
Great find in Ellerslie tucked away on Kalmia St - didn't know it was there until I saw it on Zomato.
They open early during the week which is really handy & seem to have a steady stream of regulars.
Service was good - helpful but not over the top. Efficient with delivering coffee & meals. Coffee was good - nice & hot, strong but not bitter. Love their coffee cups.
Tables are large communal arrangements, but other options are available.
Decided to go for poached eggs with a side of bacon & avocado which was well made & nicely presented. They have a large range of bread options (gf too) & some other nice looking menu items which I'm keen to try on my next visit.

This cafe generally has quite bad service and very unpleasant staff. However, Worst ever service I experienced on 15 September, when I went there to buy a coffee and was told there may be a wait for 10 minutes. I paid and waited to see all the coffees were served excluding me.

They all started giggling and playing with each other, after about 18 minutes wait, I decided to leave without a coffee since there was not attention whatsoever from any of the staff. Not a single explanation or an apology for the delay. I returned their token number after about 22 minutes and walked out without a refund. I had not a single person out of about 5 staff wondering around talking to me or even asking to get a refund.
So if you are looking for quite an experience to be disregarded, this is the place!

I'd been here once before and hadn't been sufficiently wowed to return, but thought it was time to give it another go. And on a second visit it was exactly the same as before - not terrible, just not good enough to make me want to come back. The creamy mushrooms would have been great except that the sauce left the toast a soggy mess. The Vietnamese rice pancake with coconut chicken, slaw and an Asian sauce was edible, but just...weird. Putting cold slaw inside a hot pancake then drowning the whole thing in something wet? Hmm.The coffee was excellent, but the lemon and poppy cake was undercooked in the middle. Two tries is enough - I think I'll leave them to it. If you want to visit around lunchtime, try to get there around 12 or 1, as at 12.30 and 1.30 the place is jammed.

Picked up take away sandwiches (pulled beef and tuna melt) coffees and a chocolate filled doughnut and all amazing! Service pretty friendly too. Will be back soon!

Friday morning breakfast of champions. Came here for some top quality eggs bene with salmon and was not let down. Just enough lemon in the hollandaise to make the morning start well. Chill vibes and good place for a man date. Keep it up.

I had the Whipped avocado, tomato and cold smoked salmon on GF coconut bread with passion fruit dressing and soft poached egg and it was very nice. My friend ordered the same dish :-) Her husband ordered a dish with fried potatoes, bacon, tomato and poached egg - he was well pleased with the size of the dish. The service was only at the counter - not a lot of interaction. The first chair I sat on wobbled too much for my liking so I switched to one of the solid bench seats.
Las Akurugoda
Have been here few times. Great smoothies, fantastic coffee & great service.
They have a board room for meetings too which is very handy. I would reccomend the venison burger or the open steak sandwich.

Best week day cafe in the area! Lovely coffee, very consistent. The food is healthy and delicious and they have raw slices and bliss balls and things in the cabinet. Head down there every time I'm working in the area.

Ordered the chicken burger for lunch, slightly disappointed that it came with crisps instead of chips (I had a serious hankering for some potato chips, and that was the closest thing in the menu that would come with chips!). The meat patty was tasty (they obviously make their own patties), love the bread (crispy and fluffy as), but did find the grated beetroot a bit much. Was a soggy/messy eating affair. Heard the coffee is good though (I didn't have it, my lunch partner did and she loved it).

AMAZING! coffee is the best I have ever tasted...cant believe the great atmosphere the café has.The main barista had a awesome attitude and my annoying coffee order wasn't a problem at all...and talk about quick!!

My work life would not be complete without this wee gem! Awesome coffee, cool decor and a huge food cabinet + menu with innovative, seasonal options and some 'always available' favourites. Can get very busy with the office crowds so best to get in either side of 10am / midday rush hours.

Scroll down to my update. Originally gave them a 5, now doing well to get a 3.

Best coffee in the Ellerslie / Penrose area by a long shot.

Great snacks / lunches: always an excellent variety.

And the ambiance means you can actually hear the person you are with (important to some of us)! This is in direct contrast to Penrose Kreem for instance (plus the other aspects).
Update - 2015:
Place went down hill to a 3/5 in early 2015 when a number of the front and kitchen staff left. Service became amateurish. Food was still occasionally very good. Coffee same depending on who was working the steam and beans. Other poor aspects like getting hassled over whether the meeting room was available at no charge for 20 mins use or not.
A real let down as it started out so well for an area lacking much else. At least they're no longer parking their car right out the front any more....just watch out for the motorbikes.

First time visit to Gasket on the advice (an accompanied by) a friend. WOW! You kind of realize you're in for something special when you reach for the door handles and they're made out of giant chrome spanners. Once inside you see that the place is jammed with happy people and it's all a portent of good things to come. Despite arriving around 10:30 am when they're catering for everyone's morning break and the place being packed service was very quick and efficient whilst still friendly and welcoming - not always the easiest thing to get right. I indulged myself and ordered a cappuccino and donut (I know I'm decadent!) The donut was delicious - lightly crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside and filled with a delectable creamy filling and topped with tangy berry glaze. The cappuccino was faultless - appropriate sized cup, perfectly extracted coffee and just the right texture and volume of fluffy foamy milk. Enjoying these delights the slightly quirky without being gimmicky surroundings made for a thoroughly enjoyable experience. In the words of my favorite robot "I'll be back!"

I almost dont want to post this as this is seriously one of the best cafes for lunch I have been to in Auckland. They have it nailed, exceptional food, great environment (in fact terrific) and friendly genuine service. Not only that, but these guys sell things and give money to charities...love love love
