Food and service here is amazing! This is our go-to local spot for date night. Every dish we have tried has never disappointed and quite reasonably priced! We love the $120 five course set menu and is perfect for two people. Have visited every few months over the past few years

Fist time at this restaurant, couldn't fault anything. Service was EXELLENT, VERY FRIENDLY. Food was to PERFECTION. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

The staff are very friendly. Although dishes seem simple, they taste delicious and fresh. Definitely a great place to visit when you are seeking for a quiet and cozy environment.

Consistently yummy, I usually get the chicken katsu. It's chrisp on the outside and tender inside, and I love the decorations with the cherry blossoms. Staff are unobtrusively attentive. Hubby gets the beef on the hotplate, which is consistently yummy too.

Sushi Tomi is so consistent. Been coming here since our kids were little, now in their 20s. Always tasty, fresh and delicious. Staff are so friendly and eager to please. We always feel like cherished regulars no matter how long it's been. Thanks Sushi Tomi team. Keep it up. Love ya

If you’re looking for an authentic Japanese meal, this is one of the best places in Auckland by far. As close to Japan as you can get. I highly recommend and the staff are fantastic and super friendly!

Super fresh sushi and sashimi. The vegetarian bento box was very good, with the crunchiest tempura ever! Haven’t been here in years but we’ll be back. It was very busy but the service was quick and excellent.

Have had both lunch and dinner here. Excellent quality fresh food. Chef has a special quality for unique dishes. Great variety and you have to try their dessert! Meals large enough to share. A hidden gem! I've eaten from internationally famed chefs and this is on par!

Always enjoy it here the food is so tasty however I was a bit disappointed as I tried a chicken katsu don and the salad was pretty dull compared to the sashimi don I would definitely want the sashimi don salad as it had a lot more stuff in it and has a greater amount but I stil love it here. Staff are very friendly and always great service would recommend

I’ve been going to this Japanese restaurant regularly since last month. I love their chicken katsu and sashimi don! Their meal are quite a decent portion and it’s surprisingly filling. Very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend them if you’re around the area and craving for Japanese food 🎌

We wanted a mixed meat sushi which was not available ready made. The lady was extremely rude and unhelpful. She stood in front of us counting money while we were deciding. She did not offer fresh sushi, we had to ask if they had stopped making sushi for the day. <br/><br/>We ended up ordering freshly made sushi which came out dry and the chicken was shredded and flavourless. Would not come back here again. Terrible service and food.

Popped in for a quick lunch while running errands and picked up this box for $12. Super filling and delicious, very fresh and has great flavour! Will be coming here for dinner sometime!

Another beautiful meal. Love the $46 dinner for two. Been going to Sushi Tomi for over 10 years and it never disappoints. Always a great meal in a very clean restaurant with nice, friendly service.

Good sushi! It’s a wee pricy for me though for what you get. But for a treat I will go here. The place is a bit dark but that’s just the way the building is.

Updates: from my last experience here I don't think I'm gonna come back again. Food is average but the lady who served us was just rude! I'd rather go somewhere further or pay more than looking at her and her attitude!<br/><br/>I read quite a few of extreme reviews about this place; people who like it rated 5.0, people who dislike it rated 1.0 anyway being recommended by one of my close friend I think it is still worth giving a chance to try out so I came here with my partner for dinner.<br/><br/>I had to agreed with most of the reviews that their service is not up to standard and has got a lot more to improve. Staff who took our order didn't look at us while talking or taking our order and I didn't see her smile from the beginning until we left. She did thanked us but imagined it was spoken out with a monotone and poker faced, isn't it awkward?<br/><br/>Food wise I am happy with the overall taste and portion. My partner had Chicken Katsu that served with miso soup, steamed rice, salad and fruit. It was crispy on the outside and juicy in the inside. A minor drawback is that the rice is just too little, the salad is even more than the rice. I had my favorite Unagi Gozen which I was surprised with all the sides that comes together. On the menu, it says it comes with Unagi teriyaki (of course), sushi, karage, tempura, appetizer and salad. When they were brought up they looked like a big feast. All the sides were good but the main Unagi disappointed me a little bit for its sauce. It doesn't taste right for me but was just at the edge of my acceptable range. The way they served the Unagi with bean sprouts was something different.<br/><br/>The ambient is nice and comfortable. There are lots of parking just right outside the restaurant. We might come back again when we want a easy convenient Japanese meal.

Location has heaps of parking even on busy weekend lunch times . Food is soooo Fresh , reasonable priced, tasty. Loved it , we will be back!

I have been here quite a few times. Great sushi and other Japanese sides. The sushi is not bland and dry compared to some of the larger chain companies. Thumbs up and recommended!

sushi tomi provide amazing sushi! They're sit down lunch specials are even better with a hot plate of your choice, miso and salad is to die for! Dinner is a little more expensive but if you can get here for lunch well worth it!!

Late night chicken and avo sushi was on the books when I visited Sushi Tomi and I must compliment the staff on their effort at pitting together setting for my friend and I 5 mins before their kitchen closed for the night. However the Sushi itself wasn't the best, the seaweed was too chewy making nomming difficult and chopsticks were out of the question. The chicken was a little dry and I don't know how old bc I know my tummy is not happy right now! Good size sushi for what you pay though.

One of the worst sushi store in Auckland. Rice is undercooked and sasimi are not so fresh. My wife had a sasimi don and..oh my.. what a disaster!

Hmmm don't want to be too negative here but had a few minor complaints. Tataki not cut fine enough, overseared and almost cooked. Salmon tataki seemed frozen in the middle. Donburi, well anybody who knows what donburi should be would have turned their nose up...ingredients not steamed together and contained shredded apples and pears in the salad? Weird. Upsides, sushi was fresh and udon soup very tasty. Staff and service excellent. Maybe the chef just needs to sharpen the knives...

Nice welcoming staff as soon as you walk in. Lovely Japanese wooden decor. A good range of food with most of the original dishes udon, donburi, yakisoba, sashimi and sushi. Large range of sushi. <br/><br/>I got the udon tempura which was lovely, nothing spectacular but a nice late balanced dinner. <br/><br/>Quite pricey for Japanese out west, but don't let it put you off.

Got in and ordered,the portions were decent and theres some range when it comes to choices, the food was a bit overpriced but it was nice,its your average Japanese food,I think that if I was really hungry next time I would eat here again but the staff aren't really very attentive to customers although they were professionally polite

We were in the area and our first restaurant choice was closed on break, so we came here instead for a late lunch. <br/><br/>We were greeted only when we got to the front of the line, even though the waitress walked past us while we were waiting. <br/><br/>I ordered the teriyaki chicken sizzling plate and my partner ordered the spicy pork sizzling plate, both were $14.50 each. <br/><br/>As soon as we were seated, our miso soup and salads came out about a minute later. Very prompt service! Our mains came out about five minutes later as well. I was really happy because I was starving! <br/><br/>The portions are pretty decent in size, and both of us managed to polish off our meals which doesn't usually happen. I got kind of sick of the teriyaki taste about half way into my dish, but I simply swapped with my partner and ate his spicy pork dish instead. The spicy pork is comparable to the Korean spicy pork dish you normally find in most Korean restaurants, though you get slightly more rice in Korean restaurants than you do here. <br/><br/>Overall our meals tasted good! We thought they were slightly overpriced for what we got, but the staff were very nice. Will probably be back here if I'm ever in the area!

We are new to the area and have been trying to find a Japanese joint. This was the only dine in restaurant that came up so we decided to go in for lunch last week and have since been back for lunch twice and dinner once. <br/><br/>4☆~ For atmosphere and ambiance. Although it is a really small cramped up place, the furnishing was well chosen enough to create a relaxing japanese feel to the restaurant. It seems to always be bustling with customers every time we went in. The music though, was what brought the ambiance down a little. They played pop radio music and quite loudly too which was distracting as the restaurant wasn't big. I suggest finding a more relaxed and sensual tune to play. <br/><br/>Very precise menu with right amount of choices- not many to choose from but includes all the essential and popular japanese dishes which is probably enough.<br/>The sushi bar seems to be really busy and kept fresh but we ordered from the Lunch and Dinner Menu instead on every visit as I am pregnant. The bento boxes are amazing in portions and taste. Udon broth is good too but just a little to the sweet side. Karaage chicken had the right chicken parts and was marinated well but was brought down by the overwhelming amount of sauce poured on- i have attached the photo to show how much sauce was on the chicken. It tasted good though just maybe less sauce next time and it would taste even better. Although all the dishes were !superb, they did lack authentic Japanese flavors- tasted more to the korean side but this is not a bad thing. <br/>Overall we have had amazing experiences in our first week at this restaurant. The staff were really attentive and polite- fixing our orders without hesitation. We were looked after well and will be back.

Definitely not happy. Rice was cold, chicken over cooked and seated jammed into a corner next to the kitchen and beside a large group even though restaurant was mostly empty. My partners meal was not what she ordered and fell apart when trying to pick up the sushi. Not going back there ever

The miso is excellent. He had teriyaki chicken - came iut bubbling hot. I had tempura vegetables - good range, just right. We enjoyed the atmosphere, relaxed. <br/>

Dont know what to start it off. Every time i went here i had boned salmon roll&sushi each single freakin time. Im sorry but im not the only one who had this experience. Also it was hard to discuss about my experiences with staff becuz few staff had trouble with English communication skill.

Went there last night and had chicken teriyaki and beef teriyaki and the menu says all main meals and hot plate come with miso rice and salad, well we got miso and that was it so i asked and she said that only the hot plates come with rice and salad, so I then said to the lady that the menu says that the meals we have come with that and that that was false advertising. She then said that was how it came so I said so how come we got miso then and she could not give me an answer for that. I went to pay the bill and talked to her about it and she just argued back so I said to her that all she had to do was to give us the missing stuff off the menu and there would not be any problem. What every happened to the old saying the customer is always right so I told her I was going to give her a bad review because she was really playing the dumb act and being rude won't be going there again.

Nice restaurant, nice staff/ service so no complaints there....but the food just wasn't as great as what I would've expected for the prices they charged...chicken was dry (and too small a portion)...We ended up feeling quite ripped off and while it was a 'nice place' we sadly wouldn't go back there as the food was a let down..In fairness, I didn't try their sushi so maybe that's better perhaps...

I dont normally care to review restaurants but I was really impressed with Sushi Tomi in Westgate. We only got takeaway but the restaurant itself looks very nice and clean.<br/><br/>For a very fair price we got a LOT of really tasty food. The sushi was delicious, the tempura prefect. All topped with impeccable service, we'll be going back to eat in very soon!

This place used to be our favourite Japanese restaurant. However, since March/April there have been new owners and the food isnt anywhere near as fresh. The service is terribly slow and soup is foul. What a shame.

The food's amazing, quick, great service, and friendly atmosphere. Food is nicely presented and tastes even better. Probably the best japanese restaurant i've been to.

Try their takeways platters - I recommend them - they are excellent to take to parties and gatherings - always a hit and very reasonably priced with generous portions. Yum

Sushi Tomi is a fine place to dine. It's always very clean, and the food is exceptional! It's not to expensive, and very friendly on your wallet. You can have a meal for two for under $40. I rate it highly!

I love having sushi no matter where I buy it. This is one of the places to go to have sushi. I would always go for the tuna sushi it superbly delicious I lik the taste of the tuna it tempts me to have more. I would also go for teriyaki sushi really yummy or the vegetarian pack it's really healthy and looking at their store hygiene is a thumbs up so u recommend people to check it out
