Absolutely amazing! Great service. It was busy but we were served very quickly. The food was gorgeous and delicious and we had a cute seat outside with beautiful flowers. Would recommend the sticky date french toast, we liked it so much we ordered it twice.

Great breakfasts. Good thing was the eggs were soft. Waitresses need to be trained though. Delivered our coffee but walked away without clearing last guests plates and cups. Needed to call her back. Didn't know which coffees she was delivering either. So we had to decide what the coffee was ourselves. Delivered a cappuccino and thought it was a hot chocolate.

Situated in a garden centre, so there's lots to look at in the nursery and the shop. Good food. Popular for brunch. Pleasant waitress. We visit regularly, especially now the small shopping centre and Countdown are nearly completed. Visited today with a walking group and very helpful young man, staff member helped to move tables together for us. Always helpful staff.

Food is great..serving very generous! For sure we will be back again.

Had chicken & avocado salad today, and it was absolutely DIVINE. The presentation of the food was definitely photo-worthy & the tasted SO good. Also had he banana & Walnut loaf toasted, crispy on the outside and soft in the inside which was a perfect balance with coffee. Quick and friendly service. Definitely will be back! 🥰💗

Rainy day, surrounded with plants, not too lousy, spacious, and the coffee was better than I thought. It was a pleasant visit.

Decent food and service. If you love plants, the place to go.

Ask Brian for the Hippo! Amazing latte art! He can also do bear/panda if you want. Lots of new chef’s specials to try out too.

I went to Cafe botannix last week. The cabinet looks so good which makes me hard to decide. Finally I odered blueberry muffin, which is the best muffin i have ever had. The coffee was amazing as well. The service was also excellent. Everything is so amazing. I will definately come again to try other things.
Sam
Very good food and atmosphere Coffee was okay

Great cafe in the garden centre. Highly recommend.

This cafe is great! I’ve been there a number of times, both for lunch and just for a coffee. The menu food is delicious and the muffins and scones from the cabinet, equally good. The coffee is superb and the staff are friendly and efficient.
Halina Szymanik
My family loves this cafe and visit often. The food is consistently great and the service is excellent. Highly recommend.
Katie McGregor
Excellent Cafe with some truly delicious and healthy food options! I got the Avocado smash with a side of bacon and it was so good! Coffee was perfect both times we went and the plants and gifts for sale make it a beautiful experience to sit, chat and eat. Highly recommend 👌

Food was good and coffee was exceptionally fast, never seen my coffee delivered to my table so quickly. Only gripe was that there wasnt enough hand sanitizer available and the one that was there was empty. Need more gluten free options on the cabinet please.

I went there today with my two grandchildren 8 &11 who are vegetarian. I ordered 1 Ham Toastie for me with a Lemon Tart, 2 Vegetable toasties for the kids with a plum and Almond tart and a strawberry tart, also 1 banana smoothie, 1apple juice and 1 flat white. total $67.60. Just after I started giving the order I was told to "stop" as the female on the till obviously wasn't keeping up with my order, not could you hold on for a minute or sorry could you go slower, just "stop" then as we were walking away from the till the lady said we don't have 2 vegetable toasties left at 11.30am do you want 2 ham ones ? I said no what else is vegetarian -she said the vegetable tart, so I said ok we'll have one of those and found our table. After a while the drinks came, then a while later the tarts came and then a while later on the savouries came. I cut the veggy tart in 2 and the veggy toastie in 2 and shared between the g'kids. My granddaughter cut of a piece of tart and put it in her mouth only to discover it was Ham and vegetable. I told the waitress who told her manager who came to see us, he then went out back and came back with an option of making up another veggy toastie, so we waited till that was done. It would seem that either the till person is only interested in taking the money or is ignorant of what vegetarian means or does not know re research into the foods that she is selling, apart from her unfriendly manner that is.Not a place I would waste over $67.00 on again !

When we settled down at the table which we liked the chairs and the angle of the surrounding view around 3pm, we were told to move out to the opposite area which we felt a little bit uncomfortable because there's a large group of people already sitting right next to the table available.<br/><br/>The area we first sat, there were many free tables empty, only 2 or 3 tables were already used by other customers. The reason we have to move was unclear. The words I could pick up from the staff were 'concrete floor, wash'.<br/>I thought it might be a cleaning time, but more than half an hour, nothing had been done to the area which was all empty and quiet.<br/>If the cafés hours are untill 4pm, all tables should be available.<br/><br/>When we received the 3 sweets, 3 knives were there but 2 folks were missing, so I have to go back to the counter to ask for them, the stuff sounded in doubt saying 'I already put there'. I swear that I don't eat them!!😣<br/><br/>The round baking stuff was nice and had a unique texure eating like bread and cake together. I preferred the custard & rhubarb(?) one than the cinnamon roll one. The mixed fruits in the chia pudding was refreshing but chia pudding was tasteless with the raw flavour. After adding some sugar it got better.

Their pasta in white sauce with mushrooms is amazing. They change their menu once or twice to suit seasons. they didnt have a vege hot food option when we went last week. staff was very friendly and accommodating, they catered to our request. Thank you!

Came with friends it took about 20-25 minutes for our coffee and cabinet food to be served, admittedly it seemed quite busy. Lady who takes the orders very impatient and unfriendly rushing through order and not getting it correct, with not so much as an apology. Definitely friendlier and better places to get coffee in Albany.
Shen Bao Qing
Waited 30minutes for a cup of soy flat white. And didn't have cups for water either during that time. The quality of coffee was not worth the wait at all!!! This is a seriously understaffed place. Unless you want to waste your time and want to experience worst customer service ever then go to this place.

Would not return. Food was average and not hot, some was just warm. Complained on fb and get the run around. Clearly don't care. Coffee was ok<br/>

Low key one of my fav lunch spots. Good coffee and amazing sandwiches. Also great atmosphere to just work or study for a couple of hours. Love it.

Love this place. Their waffle and Breakfast are really good. So many options on the menu. Very friendly staff. They not only made me feel welcome, but so much better!

I took my mum here for lunch as the older generation seem to like it, shop for gardening supplies and have a coffee and something to eat. We ordered a main of battetred fish & chips to share, which was only one piece of fish for $24, the chips were ok, the coleslaw as bland and when I lifted up the fish to cut it in half I was horrified at the amount of oil that had oozed out of the fish, onto the board and onto the table! I did advise the lady behind the counter before I'd eaten anything and she came over, took a look and thanked me for the feedback as she was the owner and that she'd talk to the chef, unfortunately didn't offer to rectify our dish, so managed to pick out the fish from the batter. Sadly, I won't be back to eat here......

I love coming here because the environment is so inviting. You can sit down with a good coffee, take a deep breathe in and relax. Also the eggs bene are bloody top notch.
Anna
I love cafes nestled inside a garden shop. This is no exception, however their service has a lot of room for improvement. It was very busy and we were looking for a table when we found 3 lined up together. When we approached we were told by one of the waiters to stop and wait until they've cleared the tables up and that the people who left might be coming back to sit down. He was very rude and wanted us out of the way, so we looked for another table instead.<br/>The coffee was very mild, we both had flat whites and it didn't have the morning kick we were hoping for. <br/>The decor was lovely and the food off the menu looked really nice.
J Walker
Coffee was good but that was it. <br/>My breakfast and my husband's were not good at all. The bacon was cold on both of our plates, like it had been sitting out for ages.<br/>The eggs benny was tasteless with the hollandaise sauce completely lacking flavour.<br/>Expensive for food that is below the average mark.
Michelle S
Came here and only tried their cabinet food and drinks. Their hot chocolate was very nice, fluffy and not too sweet. Their cabinet food on the other hand is a bit cold and stale. Did not taste fresh at all and would not come back to eat.

WOW. This cafe is getting better and better. Swung by for brunch after not visiting for a couple of years (so many choices in Auckland to eat out) and won't be waiting so long to return again. We both had the paleo lunch and were not disappointed. Everything on the plate was cooked perfectly and the tastes of the fresh ingredients blew us away. The service was attentive and friendly and  even tho we were warned there would be a 25 minute wait, it was worth every second. The iced expresso was so yummy and my companion's hot chocolate just as pleasing, I'm told. We finished off with a nice stroll through the garden centre, feeling happy and sustained. We will be back to dine again for sure.

The paleo breakfast was not really what I would call value for money.  One piece of smoked salmon, two cherry tomatoes, a small serving of spinach, avocado, two medium mushrooms, boiled egg and small amount of deep fried potato skins.  Was tasty but not worth $22. Service average.  Would have been nice to be asked if we enjoyed our meals.<br/>Coffee was good.
Sam
My number one place for coffee on the Shore.    The coffee is hot, excellent and consistent.   There is an excellent variety of food both in the cabinet or from the a la carte menu, and the service is friendly and personable.  <br/>The thing that sets them apart in my view is their ability to recognise regular customers and value them.
Jazmin Lee
This is the $12 breakfast I believe? Somewhere around that price. You are eligible to get it before 10am! Soo good and so worth it. Filled me up and wasn't boring at all. The food took a while to come out and I'd already finished my drink before then. Advise you to ask to get the drink with the meal. I will come here to try other foods on the menu definitely. Its very lovely to sit outside and see all the plants and enjoy the fresh air! They have a high tea as well! It's good to come here before shopping so you don't spend so much money. Typical cafe food with a beautiful atmosphere. 🌹🌷💗🌸

We came here for high tea on Saturday for a special birthday celebration.  The table set up was beautiful with white tablecloths and old fashioned cups and saucers.  We were looked after immediately by a lovely waiter who was very attentive and even took photos for us.  The food was all lovely and there was so much of it we took a good amount home.  We didn't at any time feel rushed or bothered.  At $25 a head it was great value for mondy. All in all we had a lovely afternoon and highly recommend Café Botannix for high tea for a special occasion.

1 out of 10 for level of customer service. The staff here were extremely rude. I definately would not come here ever again. Me and my wife would look for a better cafe next time.
Alex
I've been to this cafe on more than one occasion and the food never disappointed. <br/>In terms of service one member of staff sticks out in particular who seems to be a whirlwind of efficiency and kindness. Lucie has served us on more than one occasion and it feels important to acknowledge her as to me she represents the dying art of great customer service. She always seems to be a step ahead and acutely aware of the customers needs. <br/>Big thumbs up from myself and the gang! We'll definitely return. Thank you.

I took my daughter and her two children aged 7 and 5 for lunch. It was AWFUL. The children had chicken and chips from the menu. Chips were soft and soggy and tasted like they had been cooked in old oil. We ordered the chicken panini which was tasteless and smothered in cranberry sauce. Our coffee tasted burnt and in spite of us requesting hot coffee it was cold. We took them back only to get another two coffees that were luke warm. We ordered brownies which were hard, dry and crumbly. No offer of cream to go with it, just a cold hard brownie on a plate. We couldn't eat it it was so unpleasant. Orders were getting mixed up - we were getting others peoples lunch orders. Staff need training and guidance. It was a terrible experience and we won't be going back there in a hurry. It's a pity because it's such a nice<br/>setting

Botanix Cafe at Palmers in Albany is a location we have visited a number of times for breakfast/brunch and cabinet food, but today we visited for lunch. We sat outside in the spacious comfortable area under cover, surrounded by colourful and fragrant plants, and twittering sparrows. On being seated we were advised that there would be a half hour wait for the food as they were very busy, and again when they took our order - good customer relations! No problem! - we cruised around looking at the great range of plants for sale to fill in the time. We ordered the grilled lamb rump with pumpkin risotto, and the chicken burger with fries. The lamb rump slices were tender and perfectly cooked, over creamy risotto with chunks of roast pumpkin - delicious. The chicken burger was a succulent grilled marinated chicken breast, pineapple ring, cheese, etc in a very tasty herb bun - excellent. The service was superb, the ambience relaxing, and the food yummy - don't know why we haven't lunched here more often!

Sunday brunch seems to be the place to go!<br/>Was reasonably busy today and people kept pouring in service was prompt , coffee was flawless food well presented & reasonably priced. Short wait approx 15-20min for food given that the kitchen was under some light pressure nothing was compromised . The only point id like to raise would be the communication between the Kitchen & foh staff, a blonde male foh staff member conversing with another re the 40 minute wait in food, his response was to start clearing vacated tables & quote- "Avoid People" following another discussion with the head chef about not taking anymore orders as they by this time were under some real pressure but was well composed & very cool headed female chef i don't know her personally but i have years of experience in hospitality so i can relate to the pressure, i just hope she is well paid & well looked after & a pay increase or bonus should be on the cards! .<br/>The point I'm making here is that for your customers to hear your staff saying avoid people is not a good look both tables next to us heard the comment & well all looked at each other completely shocked & some internal foh training maybe just was is required. We will be back as i can't fault anything else.

Staff weren't at all friendly. Didn't seem like any of them wanted to really be there. Our meals and drinks took a long time which I wouldn't mind if they were nice (to be fair my partner liked his meal of french toast). I ordered the corn fritters with bacon, dairy free however, as I am lactose intolerant. If you are dairy free I recommend going for something else. They are so average (even the lady on the counter when we went to pay asked how our meals were and I said average. She replied "oh yes, those are dairy and gluten free, they aren't very nice, I can understand why you didn't enjoy your meal") .. well why are they on the menu at all if even the staff know they aren't nice? <br/>I also ordered a soya hot chocolate. The taste of it was nice, but it was cold. <br/><br/>All in all below average service and food. Won't be going back. Dissapointing.
Chelsea
What a shocking café. 2 luke warm and burnt tasting coffees and a 20 minute wait on a scone because the table numbers got confused AND I had to ask where my scone was, no one asked if my order was complete. Absolute bullsh*t.
Roni Ramone
It's always nice to eat in amongst a multitude of flowers, and there is really nice counter area. The service is simply outstanding, very friendly and fast. There isn't much range in terms of lunch food, but the baked goods look delicious, and the Japanese Lime tea was among the nicest teas I've ever had. I would definitely return, if only to try the plum and white chocolate brioche!
Darren Jay
Very Average food, average service. Waited 10 minutes for a muffin from<br/>Cabinet, had to chase up where it was. Staff are not the sharpest tools in the shed. Food is very average

Went in today with a friend of mine to check out the new menu that they have on offer. We both tried the Asian Squid dish and their new frappes , Belgium chocolate & Black Forrest (2 of the 4 flavors) , both the meals and drinks were amazing and full of flavor. Fantastic experience amongst all the plants in the garden centre, and staff were very very friendly , with a special mention to Brooke and Cory for being wonderful waiters. Will most definitely come back.
Deborah Butler
After a walk through the garden centre we enjoyed a delicious  lunch  of creamy mushrooms for the hubby and crepes for myself  and received great friendly service from Brooke.
Levi Callaghan
Food was great! The service was good too. Had the best mocha I've had in a while. Brooke told me to vote for her due to her epic cashier skills, however Melissa brought my dog a bowl of water which I thought was wonderful.

Stopped into this cafe for breakfast with the family. Great environment set in the middle of the garden centre and loads of tables so can imagine this cafe is popular with the locals.<br/>Now, don't like to be to negative, but the $10 early bird breakfast wasn't great. Sort of gave the impression of all pre cooked and sitting in the warmer ready to go rather than cooked to order. <br/>Great staff, good coffee, beautiful environment but maybe go for something off the breakfast menu rather than the el cheapo early bird deal.

As regular Botannix customers, my mother chose to celebrate her birthday with lunch in the cafe. Knowing how busy it gets, I pre-booked with the manager, Brentin, and followed the advice to pre-order from the menu for our group. As usual the food was great, Brentin and his team were helpful, friendly and efficient, and it was the best dining experience I've had with a group that size. Pre-ordering meant there was no long wait for the food and we were able to take along our own cake (not that some of us didn't also have dessert from Botannix - the chocolate brownie and strawberry pavlova were fantastic). Thank you Brentin for making it such an easy, pleasant dining experience.
Sue Church
My elderly Mother loves garden centres so 21 of us celebrated her recent 91st birthday at Botannix Albany, Brentin and his team excelled.  He suggested we pre-order the food which we did, we arrived at 12.00 and the tables were set up, we had asked that the food start arriving at 12.15 which it did, everything ran smoothly and we had a great lunch, the food was lovely, the grandchildren enjoyed the play area.  Thank you Brentin and your team it was a pleasure dealing with you.

Cafe Botannix is a lovely spot tucked away in Palmers Planet off Greville Road. The high ceilings, the beautiful lighting and wooden tables give the place a nice home-y feel. Unfortunately, the food is overpriced. $18 for a chef pot pie (chicken, leek and mushroom). The portion for the pie was quite small and the flavours weren't anything special. The dishes definitely had simple home-made rustic flavours that are easily duplicated. Nothing worth the price tags though (such as the grill breakfast being $22 and tasting bland at best). Although the service was great and the environment was nice - the food at cafe Botannix is nothing special so you probably won't find me here again.
Maddie
Came to Cafe Botannix today for lunch with a friend and we loved it! Beautiful setting and such friendly staff. The food was great, I had the Botannix grill, the roast tomato was really niceley seasoned, the poached eggs were perfect and the lamb and mint sausages were so flavourful and the potato hash was crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. My friend had the Parisian tart and really enjoyed it. We look forward to coming back

Went to their Pink Ribbon Breakfast this morning. Arrived and they didn't have seats for us even though we booked days in advance (apparently they didn't shut off bookings and over booked) we waited 10 minutes and got sat down. Service was a bit slow but that was expected with so many people. The food was really good and drinks were lovely. Would come back again just not to a big event.
Nicola
Beautiful cafe with lovely staff! Im a regular customer and food and coffee never disappoints! Reading a few of the negative reviews and questioning if they got their cafes mixed up!?
Sungsam7
I enjoy the store. I enjoy the friendly staff. I enjoy the food. The coffee is also good. They seem to have quite a number of staff working regularly. Only hiccup is it takes a while and a wait for food to come out.
David Smith
Awful service, how hard is it to deliver one coffee? What a shame this place has gone so far downhill. Looking at the volume of reviews that have the same complaints, maybe it's time for the owners to rethink how they staff this cafe.
Scott
So me and my wife and kids have been here for coffee a lot of times and I have to say the coffee is great, great playground for kids.<br/>Unfortunately we decided to stop by for food on Sunday, me my wife her mum and our 2 kids.<br/>We ordered two poached eggs on toast - these turned up hard cooked with a slice of cheap white bread.<br/>I ordered a Pot pie, which was not that bad, except the pastry was cold (obviously not cooked as a pie)<br/>Then the kids, now this should be the easy bit 2 kids menus (sandwich, packet of chips, hand full of raisins and a banana). They forgot our kids food, I had to remind them twice after they served us our food. 10 minutes total wait. (by which time our kids were not happy)<br/>The first time I walked to the counter the chef was chatting away to the waiting staff with zero concern that our food had been forgotten. When i mentioned that i was disappointed, i was told "they were understaffed"<br/>It was quiet, obviously not that busy for the staff to be lounging about.<br/>$68 of disappointment<br/>Coffee is great, playground great, food is a joke.
Katherine Mitchell
This place has gone down hill. The bagels are not bagels - a bun lightly cooked is not a bagel. The eggs Benedict was over cooked, the bread burnt and the sauce was a thick mess. It will be a while until I go back.
Andre Cressy
Really enjoy coming here now. Staff are friendly and food is good. Eggs Benedict is a real winner. Cabinet food selection is also really good. Play area for kids is great. I would come back here without a doubt.
Sara K
I ate breakfast here recently and it was excellent, the scrambled eggs were perfectly seasoned, the potato rosti were lovely and crisp, really yummy, great service too. I ate the same at the new cafe at Westgate but it wasn't quite the same standard.
Becks Murray
The cafe is in such a lovely setting its a shame the coffee is so terrible. The coffee when we were there was so bitter, myself and my guest could not get through two sips, it was simply undrinkable. We sent it back and we're told that the reason it tasted like this was because it was 'organic.' What a load of hogwash, I've had plenty of fantastic organic coffees. The fact they think this is acceptable and think we are stupid enough to take it just made me frustrated. I won't ever go back for coffee and think they should really train some decent baristas that know how to run these machines properly. I can't speak for the food as I only had chips and they were fine.
Maria
Excellent food, coffee and service.<br/><br/>The cabinet food is always fresh but never the same. The menu options are good, and the children's menu is excellent. <br/><br/>Always happy to return and the standard never disappoints. <br/><br/>The atmosphere is lovely with all the plants and water features around, and on a few occasions there's been live music. <br/><br/>The kids' play area is a big plus for families, but is removed enough to not interfere with others. Overall, it provides the quality of food and service that people have come to love and expect from great cafes.
Sharon
Very happy to be able to provide this cafe with their first review. Have been here a few times now and each time I have felt very comfortable. The setting is terrific, the staff are super friendly and efficient and the food is delicious. Nothing I have seen or tried disappointed myself or my companions. I have yet to try the counter offerings but there is a good selection, they look good and am looking forward to giving them a try sometime soon. Thats if I can get past the mains :):).<br/>Thank you all and I wish you the best for continued success.
