Review Tsujiri - Auckland

Endy Widjaja
This puff is amazing. The mochi is warm and chewy. The red bean and matcha cream are harmoniously completing each other and the matcha cream is generous given. The puff added the great texture and taste like a melon bread i had in Indonesia with. The matcha cream has high quality of green tea flavour. A bit bitter with complament the sweetness of red bean and mochi. I would come back for the green tea ice cream in the future visit. The puff was made only when you ordered so it was freshly made by the friendly staff.

I had the matcha roll never thought there is ice cream in the filling . It was so delicious and satisfying. The place is so cosy and clean.I love the wooden slabs on the wall. Gives nature vibes.

One of THE BEST MATCHA that I ever had !! Very strong matcha, good quality 🍵. If you like matcha please don’t hesitate to come down here. Worth the prices 💓
Yukipita
My second favorite place to relax, sit and do my work on my laptop. The place is always clean and tidy, the staff are always friendly, and they provide free WiFi. However, the price of the food and drinks are a lot more expensive than other similar places. Regardless, the positive outweighs the negative. Lastly but not least, the food and drinks taste really nice with the right amount of sweetness. I highly recommend this place.

Matcha heaven! The store is beautiful. Staff were very friendly and warm. Vibrant atmosphere even on a quiet early weekday evening. Lots of delicious matcha treats for matcha lovers or those just wanting to give it a try and not sure where to start. Highly recommend!

Very nice matcha and a great dessert place. The crepe came was a little watery. Could it be a bit more creamier? But 5 star.

Perfect dessert eatery for Matcha lovers. Clean venue, friendly staff, spacious and warm atmosphere.

My experience today was outstanding! I had matcha crêpe cake! Sooooo goood !!!! Like seriously! However is commented that its only okay cake I strongly disagree! It was so delightful! The staff was very nice. The atmosphere in the cafe is very relaxing. They play some classic music and it was great. Very clean ! I wish i can try more of their assortments but next time for sure! I was very full and happy after having a slice of crêpe cake. Delicious!!!! Delicious!!! 🤤 Update: I am still going to that place and still liking it! Since a year ago they got more specials. This month there are running ROSE series. Haven’t tasted from this menu yet but planning too. This time i got uji parfait. It was very nice. Light and yummy! Really like strong matcha taste ! Atmosphere is still very noce and relaxing. Good place to go to during lunch and have a break in a quiet atmosphere with a classic music. Recommend. Parfait was $14.

Cute spot for some authentic matcha desserts but quite pricey for what it is.
Daffy Ryo
Very high recommendation for people that love matcha dessert, not to sweet just the best ever
Stacey Liakhovskaia
Oh, I missed this taste so much! While I'd like more creamy 'milky' matcha ice-cream, it still was a great experience for my taste buds. Matcha crepe cake was great too. The service was friendly and the business hours are very generous (on Kapiti everything is closed at 5pm, haha). For new to Japanese treats customers, these sweets are not too sweet, the taste is delicate and it is better not to rush through it. Let yourself enough time to enjoy each piece.

Very nice and high quality green tea ice cream. I always come here to eat ice cream and it never feel’s enough! I think there is not much sugar in it, so it is very healthy! The drink was alright, not recommended. If you want to use the toilet 🚻, you need to ask for keys from the cashier. Friendly staff and nice experience overall. Highly recommend the green tea ice cream 🍦 really want to try some desserts next time coming here!!!
Jessie
It's tasty as long as you don't mind the bitterness of authentic matcha. The warabimochi was really nice. The sesame ice cream was somewhat weak. There was only one staff member running the shop so the wait time was long.

It was my girlfriend's birthday and I wanted to surprise her with a slice of cake, and that's how we ended up at this place. The Yuzu Macha Crepe was delicious, also the Macha ice cream, it was the first time we ate such flavours and the were a pleasant surprise! Also, we appreciated they weren't so crazy sweet like other normal cakes!
Garima Bisht
Always a good experience! Their brown rice tea is perfect for cold evenings after having dinner. The Sesame ice cream is also a must try!

A bit pricey but I can’t really find these types of desserts elsewhere in Auckland, and also they are actually good! Been here couple of times and have not had a bad experience with the sweet treats on offer! A must-visit for matcha fan. I love that all their matcha-flavoured drinks and desserts are not too overly sweet and boast strong matcha taste. The matcha croissant has a generous matcha filling and the pastry is on point! Would be a good idea to go halves on it though as it is quite big! The hojicha roll cake is a beauty, would absolutely come back for it. Friendly staff and great interior.
Sin-Mae Chung
One of my favourite dessert joints in town. This is a must visit for all matcha fans! It's never disappointing and the quality is excellent (A++ for consistency too)!!! My go to is always a matcha float, it's great if you can't decide between their delicious matcha or hojicha soft serve ice cream or something refreshing like their Yuzu tea. Their cabinet cakes are totally yum and they have great add-on's for menu items.

Excellent matcha brand finally come to New Zealand, Can't wait to taste it

Great service and vibe. Such cool decor and dessert ideas. The iced tea was yummy. I didn’t enjoy the Mille crepes. Have recommended this place to many people though
Ellynn
Houjicha ice cream is the best with the shiratama mochi. If you dont want a bitter tea then order that once! Their green tea ice cream was too bitter for me so I opted for that instead. Friendly staff as well.

Match lover will love this place!! I really enjoy coming back to tsujiri.
Rachel Luo
Tsujiri is the place to go when I ran out of ideas for desserts. the matcha crepe cake was not too sweet and the taste of matcha was just prefect. a bit sad that they do not sell the houjicha crepe cake tho, that one was also amazing :((
Sophie Wang
I ordered a half drink half dessert which had matcha soft serve with a matcha ice blend underneath it. The matcha soft serve was delicious not too sweet which I prefer. They did not skimp out on the matcha so much so I could taste slight bitterness which I also enjoy. It is on the pricey side but justified with the amount of matcha they put in. Overall, great place to sit down and enjoy some authentic matcha goods. I will be back.
Bella Qian
Yes yes yes yes. Japanese desserts done right. Expensive? Maybe. But you can tell their ingredients are quality and the food is made with care. The decor is also perfect. Has very relaxing and calming vibes. Makes you feel like you walked into a studio ghibli film.
Doris Ma
Matcha cheesecake! It was very strong in matcha flavour and super creamy as well. Perfect for someone who doesn't like their desserts too sweet. A bit on the expensive side at $9.80 a slice but it's good to have from time to time .

Rating 3.5 The desserts here definitely look pretty & very inviting, very insta worthy. Taste wise it’s a step behind. The High Tea set was bland, there were no stand out flavours. The only thing actually enjoyable was the matcha soft serve, but there was very much of it, and it started melting very quickly. Maybe just get the soft serve on it’s own.

I drive to the city just for Tsujiri. Love their Yuzu matcha float, so refreshing! Really nice matcha icecream as well, not too sweet, nice matcha flavour without being too bitter. Also their matcha crepe cake is really yummy and is a must have imo and if you want something fun you can also try their tea set! Only downside is it can get pretty expensive pretty quick if you overindulge.
Tommyzo
My son 9 is the biggest fan of green tea ice cream. He ate them in Japan, he is very critical about them. And he thinks this place serves the perfect green tea ice cream so far, in his life.
Renie
Satisfies the matcha craving! The roll cakes and ice creams are really good! Some of the drinks were a bit to sweet for me. The seating area is spacious and ambience is lovely. Location is convenient.
Teresa Kaori
I was looking at the menu and the polite staff member asked me if it was my first time there :) Anyway, he recommended to me some Tsujiri style latte as he thought in case I wasn't used to the bitterness of the green tea having it original without any milk and sugar. But somehow I found their matcha ice cream rather interesting and decided to give it a try. And the texture was so soft and silky and taste wise was rich. I will come again for the ice cream. Maybe can try adding some toppings during my next visit.

What an incredible experience!
The presentation of the food, experience and service was excellent. I highly recommend coming here to try the cold cream latte.
Thank you to our Japanese server ‘Ming’.

I’m a big fan of Matcha but their ice cream was just okay. The puff tasted good tho. My friend had the Matcha drink but turned out she didn’t like it as well.
Biubibibi
Ice cream is really nice, but other desserts just average.
They use nice green tea powder, I will come back for the ice cream definitely.
Tony Ma
Soft spongy cake! Great for gifts!! But I feel it’s not sweet or rich enough. But it’s ok for a gift i think. My kids enjoy their dessert too.

Service: 4/5
Environment: 4/5
Presentation: 4/5
Food Quality: 3/5
Food Quantity: 3/5
Price per person: $20

Wow the cheescake is so silly n yummy. Just called in here on way past to avoid the rain, Monday 30 September 2019.

Excellent care

Okay so before I say anything, this is a very very personal and biased review.

The seats and interior are good and clean (can get better by adding some soft and comfy couches because it’s a desert place after all), and the service is of course very nice, but what I loved the most was the desserts.

Okay so I’ve been to Japan recently and realized that Japanese desserts are not that sweet at all, but light and fluffy. If New York cheesecake is a 10, Japanese cheesecake is a 3 in terms of sweetness and density. WHICH I LOVE SO MUCH !! And I’m so glad that there’s an actual proper Japanese dessert place because damn sometimes those choc chip cookies and brownies are toooooo much.

We ordered three desserts and two drinks and we ended up finishing it because it kept going in. Probably dangerous as well. But wow. Definitely come here if you’re super full from the meal but still want dessert. Haha

I am a dessert lover. This Japanese dessert store is one of my favourite dessert store in Auckland. In the mid-autumn festival, I purchased a couple of mooncakes with nice presentation. They are tasty and not quite sweet. In addition ice matcha latte is my favorite drink. Highly recommend.
Hannah Zheng
I normally enjoy matcha and felt like I was in matcha heaven but it was a bit too much. I got the matcha latte and the top was completely filled with matcha powder and really gave me a bad taste. We also got the matcha crepe and Chiffon cake parfait with red bean. The chiffon cake parfait with red bean was so delicious and we just couldn’t stop eating it but the matcha crepe was a bit disappointing as it lacked flavour but this may have been due to the fact that the matcha ice cream in the parfait was very strong. Overall the aesthetics of the place was clean and very instagram worthy.
Gloria Ching
A cosy spot to come for desert after dinner when you’re craving something not too sweet. Beware prices are quite steep. This round I got to try a few things on
the menu including the matcha crepe cake, cheesecake and soft serve with red bean and rice cake. The soft serve is always my favourite, the bitter matcha ice cream is well balanced against the sweetness of the red bean and nutty flavour of peanut flakes and sticky rice cakes. The crepe cake had good layers and was not too sweet or bitter. I found the cheesecake very disappointing with hardly any cheesecake flavour at all. The matcha overpowered the cream cheese so the cake tasted dry and bland.
Rose
Was beautiful and great especially for green tea lovers although there was not a lot of seats available to sit in
Xuqing Zhou
Cheese cake tastes not good and there is no milk in the ice milk blended. Also milk blended taste too sweet on the top and no taste at the bottom.
Candy
This is pretty Instagram worthy. If you love matcha, this is the place for you. Bitterness of the matcha is legit. We ordered the Tsujiri Whipped Cream Latte and the Tsujiri Soft Ice Cream. Wanted to try their Parfaits/Shaved Ice but they were sold out 😭 came back and tried their Houjicha Soft Serve and Tsujiri Ice Blended which was decently as good, more bitter than the Tsujiri Soft Serve 9/10
Jho Meets Food
Food 4/5
Ambiance 4/5
Service 3/5
Not too heavy Houjicha ice blended perfect for a summery weather and not overly sweet green tea cake. Very bright and clean tea shop
Florence Lai
Always been a huge matcha fan and this did not disappoint! Wasn't too sweet and had a rich matcha flavor. Giving it only a 4 star instead of 5 because my dessert took ridiculously long and many of the options were not available. Will be going back if I really crave matcha ice cream though
Sasha San
If anyone loves matcha flavoured desserts then this is the place for you! Their foods are not overly sweet and have a good balance of flavors, especially matcha :,) Very unique drinks, cakes and ice creams that taste absolutely divine! The interior is very clean designed! However the prices are a bit much for what you’re getting, but it’s definitely worth the experience and try coming here!
Hope 🥰
Staff are super nice and friendly, little bit expensive, atmosphere is calming and sophisticated. Definitely overpriced but still yum 😋 may go back

Came here after a double date dinner. It was a great place to explore the japanese culture of matcha and tea. The drinks and desserts were really good, even though it was a little pricey. Would definitely come again
Benedict Uy
The cafe looks really nice but I am not a big fan of matcha but tried it to see if I would like it. I grabbed a Tsujiri specialty set so that I could taste a selection of items. I just found most of the items way too bitter. The warabimochi was quite nice with the sugar syrup, otherwise, everything else wasn't to my liking. I had the hojicha drink and that was still too bitter.
The cafe itself looks really nice and I would guess that if you are a fan of matcha then this cafe is for you.
MCP
A lovely dessert place for matcha lovers! Their drink always taste fresh and not too sweet! The cabinet always full of broad range of matcha cakes, which also so good, will come back and try their ice cream
Foodhunta
This place specialises in matcha/green tea food and drinks. Their cabinet have a selection of various matcha cakes. Didnt try the cake but will do next time. The drinks tasted really good and rich in matcha flavour. Definitely a place to go for any matcha lovers. Photo not uploading for some reason, will try again later.

Matcha! Strong green tea flavour melting in the mouth. Cake and cake both are not really sweet so i liked it. Japs like place is clean and modern.

A lovely place for desert, especially matcha lovers. I have tried almost everything in the menu except drinks and I love all of them. Everything is just not too sweet and full of matcha flavour. Just can't help but keep coming back over and over again :)
Karl Heinemann
Very yum, and a great place to grab Matcha Dessert :)) The desserts are rich in flavour, strong matcha taste is authentic and smooth and creamy! I recommend the ice cream and everything!
~ S
I’ve tried the matcha, houjicha soft serve and houjicha float here. I prefer the houjicha flavor soft serve as it has a roasted and slightly sweet taste compared to matcha which I personally found quite bitter for a dessert. Their soft serve portion hasn’t been really consistent for the times I’ve been. The soft serve is not really creamy. The houjicha float is also quite icy. Overall, would recommend trying their soft serve!
Cecelia
Best Mocha cake in Auckland which is super soft, and the green tea drinks are nice as well. Each time visit city center I would like to purchase some dessert from this shop.

2nd time here. Got the houjicha float, green tea ice cream and roll cake. I enjoy the houjicha flavour more than the green tea because its got a nice roasted taste to it. The flavoured ice at the bottom was not that great - would probably go for just the ice cream next time. Roll cake is average nothing special. To me, only the ice creams are worth it if you are seeking that green tea intense flavour.
Mu
the 🍵 Ice cream is good, but other mocha desserts are not too enjoyable. They have great combo with mocha and red beans, this is Japanese traditional combo and I’m so into it.

For the drinks, I love Yuzu:3
TLY
I am sorry, but I don’t really like this. I know it’s very famous and popular, but it’s too bitter for me, and the red bean is not soft one. em........ people who like bitter things can try this shop.
Asianfoodie
Absolutely recommend!! Had the houjicha ice blended and the chiffon cake parfait. Portions may appear to be smal compared to the price, but I felt like it was worth the spending. It is divine 😀

I visited here around 2 pm on a weekday. No customers at the counter so we could order straight away. Eating area was not crowded.

A short after before starting to eat, I noticed that I received a wrong item from what I wanted. I checked the label on the container and it clearly showed the name of sweets that I ordered. ど〜ゆ〜こっちゃ? What's the purpose of labeling? I notified them and they changed it swiftly. Somehow my lucky feeling of the smooth start was crushed.

The taste? The first couple of bites gave me nostalgia of Japan. That's all. If I pay this much, I want more quantity. My image of parfait is more gorgeous one. I also found the crunchy rice bubbles was annoying to eat with other ingredients in the parfait.

Came here to wash down and calm down my burning stomach after dinner at nearby kimchi project. Last time I didn’t enjoy the tsujiri latte as it tasted too milky. Also the tsujiri parfait would have been too big after big dinner. So we decided to have classic tsujiri soft ice cream. It was clean and refreshing. I liked the not so sweet very matchaish taste. Kids wouldn’t like it though as it is not sweet at all for their liking. Lovely ambient with bright lighting. It is kinda the only big and decent ice cream shop that also open till late around Lorne St. Good to see this kind of shop with international touch like many big cities.

Been waiting for Auckland to have a matcha dessert shop like this for ages like the ones in Melbourne. Very yummy, very busy place but fast service.
💓 K
Tried this place when they first opened in December, the line was always very long and it was almost impossible to get a seat or table inside. The first time I tried the highly recommended Tsujiri Latte and it tasted so bitter and I also ordered a piece of sponge cake which tasted a little dry. Today I visited this place again after 4 months, it’s still very busy but service was amazing! I managed to grab a seat and I ordered the Tsujiri Parfait Matcha which tasted delicious but still quite bitter. Environment is nice and clean and store design and deco is very cool.
Coffee Macarons
First time ever visit here had lots of beverages and deserts to choose from. LOVE their Matchas and Houjichas. Houjicha tasted similar to earl grey tea. Tried their new matcha crapes. Had more of a “creamy” taste than a light/strong matcha taste. Soft ice creams recommended :)
Jenny Kim
Got the matcha parfait. Matcha soft serve and the rice balls are both my favourite foods! The rice balls are super chewy and tastes amazingggg. Also the soft serve isn’t too sweet which is good, and the red bean balances the taste out. It was $10.80 which is quite expensive for the size, but the quality of the parfait justifies this price!
G1k
There has been so many people crammed in this place since it opened and I finally got to check this place out a few days ago.
I enjoyed my green tea soft ice cream, the green tea flavour is strong, the cone is crunchy and sweet. just be aware that it leaves a green stain on your teeth for a little bit but its easy to wipe off (thank god!). The slices in the cabinet looked appealing as well.
If you don't like green tea or matcha taste, there are other tea or flavours available to choose from but it is limited.
Service was very friendly even when it gets very busy, keep it up :)
Lala
Perfect for a quick matcha fix!

If you're a matcha lover just like me, this is the place to be. The price is fair and the quality and presentation of the food is always excellent.

Definitely worth the hype!
L
Swiss roll looks nice. Taste wise? Meh. Bread is too dry and cream does not taste good. Overrated. Overpriced. Not sure if I am going to try other menus.
Jieer
The staff is very friendly there, he introduced every drink and desserts to us. This place is Matcha lovers’ paradise, if you’re not interested about matcha, pls try the other tea flavour,I love it. We will come back to try more.
Yuri
I love their Houjicha softcream!!!
There is almost no place I can enjoy Houjicha icecream in NZ but they have authentic one!

However, I can't say their other dessert's
is worth the price...
Taste is not bad, rather than good but pricy so Im not sure if it's worth it.
And also quality of some desserts is very depends on who made it.
One time I ordered Shiratma(Mochi) with softcream but some of Shiratama Mochi was hard, maybe not enough warming.
Their houjicha and matcha desserts all look very fascinating but they were too sweet for me so far and less houjicha or matcha flavor compare to Tujiri in Japan.

What's more, I feel few staffs are untrained. Once I said "thank you" when I left the shop but girl staffs quickly just looked at me and eyes down to her phone sooner with no words... was disappointed.
Yet Most staff is polite and friendly, especially a man who seems a manager always has a big smile and very polite attitude for every single customer I saw.
He makes me feel bright and is so amazing.
Not everyone can motivate themselves have their best smiles and attitudes especially in such a busy shop, but he always does.

Definitely coming back for his smile and Houjicha soft cream!
Amy Yining Chen
Waited so long for this place to open and the wait was worth it!! Absolutely love the food and staff here. The desserts are not super sweet because they use real matcha which has a slight bitter taste. The staff are also very friendly!
🌹
If you’re craving matcha, then this is the place to go. If not, I’d recommend you go to another dessert place.

The staff are very helpful and incredibly nice which made the experience slightly better.
Lynn Le
Very aesthetically pleasing decor, extremely polite and friendly staffs.
I always feel like a kid in a candy store here. With so many menu options it is aways hard to decide what to have.
My go to favourite is their blended milk drinks 🤤
Yormi Wong
Been here twice... always a queue to order food.

Loved their cake desserts, drinks and ICE CREAM. I think I will love everything on their menu.

Would like to go there again and again!!!
Emily
Definitely overrated in my opinion. The drinks were OK, but for that price, I'd much rather drink a Starbucks frappucino. The cake was ok too. Nothing was bad, but nothing stood out.
Yen Retizos
Love the place! It was packed when I came here with my friends. The cake and drinks did not disappoint. I’ll be surely coming back here and try their other drinks and desserts.
Liz
I’m a matcha lover so I definitely had to try this place out, to see what the rave was about.

I was really impressed with the matcha New York style cheese cake. It was perfect! Creamy and not overly sweet (10/10).

The matcha shaved ice was alright. There was no wow factor to it, but it’s definitely a must on a hot day (6/10).

I will definitely be back to try other Matcha desserts.
Food2belly
Auckland finally stepping up their Matcha game. This parfait has 99% DNA of Japan's 7 Eleven parfait. Yes I'm comparing this to a 7 Eleven, that's cause everything matcha ice cream in Japan is 10/10. The matcha ice cream was bitter with a slight sweetness which is how it should be done. None of the shitty super sweet vanilla-like matcha ice cream.

The matcha new York style cheesecake (6/10) had all the beautiful texture and mouthfeel of a great NY style cheesecake but the flavor was lacking. It wasn't sweet enough and therefore didn't really bring out the matcha flavour.

The houjicha soft serve (10/10, $6.80) was amazing though, roasted matcha was very obvious balanced out by the perfect amount of sweetness.

The matcha sponge cake (6/10) was light and fluffy but was very bland, while the cream was bitter from the chunks of grapefruit peel. They just need a bit more sugar.

Tsujiri milk ice blend (10/10, $8.50) was super refreshing, creamy, rich and packed with matcha flavour. Best matcha drink I have had in Auckland. Overall, the soft serves and drinks are 10/10 but I will pass on the cakes next time

A very unique shop that serves matcha beverages and desserts. Wanted to try the cheese cake but was sold out(probably because it was late at night) so ordered the parfait. Good presentation but did not have much surprises. Would probably try something else next time.

This cafe with a clean design for simplicity and modern feel offers all your Matcha needs direct from Japan. Although the menu might be a little confusing every time you walk in the team here always greet you with a smile and so helpful to explain any question you have or guide you through the menu. Their suggestions and help is always genuine and sincere, thank you for caring that we get the right Matcha for us.

Everything is presented beautiful with great care and love for the drinks and food they serve. It can get very busy but it's worth the wait and each Matcha drink is hand whisked for your order, worth stopping off to feed your Matcha desires.

Authentic Japanese Green and Brown tea soft serve ice cream. Price is on the steep side $7 for a waffle cone, $11 for a smal parfait and cakes about $9 each slice. Taste good but too much on the sweet side for me. Prefer the brown tea one funnily enough. Hard to get a seat and we were there at 2pm on a Sunday. Friendly waitress and worth going once to try it out.
Katharina Wulandari
Love the service and the product that I ordered: houjicha (‘roasted tea’) soft serve ice cream - such a good balance between sweetness and bitterness/earthiness of tea. Would definitely come back to try their original matcha Tsujiri product. It is a bit pricey for a soft serve but it is worth to pay for!
Tanya Chalermtip
Nice place to chill with unique and quality matcha drinks and dessert. I have tried the Matcha latte and the Shaved Ice. The matcha latte has smooth milky matcha taste, not overly sweet. The shaved ice comes with chewy rice ball and red bean, the shaved ice has a little sweet taste and the red bean add up the sweetness; all together they turn out to be balance sweetness.
Rosanne Choy
Tried some matcha cheesecake and sponge cake after dinner tonight. The matcha cheesecake was really dense and delicious. It had enough matcha flavour and wasn’t too bitter like the usual matcha cakes I have. Sponge cake wasn’t too soft or hard and the matcha cream in between was the perfect sweetness. Absolutely loved the cheesecake. On the other hand, the matcha latte wasn’t that good. It was a bit bitter and wasn’t that creamy.
Kelly Luo
If you are a green tea lover than this is the place for you. Houjicha tastes quite nice and has a roasted rice taste but the parfait is quite small for the price so would prefer getting the soft serve. Quite a busy place as it is quite new and so has lots of hype.
Selene Nguyen 🌸
Tsujiri is a new hype in town, most of everything are about matcha! Recommend for those who loves organic matcha flavour.
I tried Green tea parfait and could only taste bitter, not balance with other flavours of the layers. Will try others items on menu on next visit but not too impress with what I ordered this time.
You might want to take away as Tsujiri is always busy and seating are quite limited!

Ambience 4/5
Desserts 3/5
Service 3/5

We ordered a green tea and houjicha soft serve ice cream. I love the green tea ice cream but agree that some might find it a bit too bitter for their liking. It is the houjicha flavour that impressed me. I love the light tea flavour that makes it very refreshing! Unfortunately they do not have parfait (ingredients out of stock). So will certainly be back to try it!
LuNa The TuNa
I was waiting for Tsujiri to open almost a year. Finally tried yesterday. Waiting time was too long, matcha is fresh made which is good. I ordered matcha cake with cream and strawberry. That was delicious. Matcha latte with cream on top quite light taste. Even it looks like matcha frappuccino but not even a bit sweet, just taste like a noral green tea. Good looking, healthy and not that tasty.
Sara
Ice cream and drinks is their focal point I think but the red bean at the base of the parfait was overly syrupy and sweet so was overpowering. The ratio of red bean to ice cream was also not correct so at $9.90 it was basically overpriced red bean plus a dollop of ice cream on top which I did enjoy.

May return next time for just a cone or a drink.
Medium_Rare
Slick Scandinavian design with the simplistic and minimalist Japanese décor, a lot of people are going to be surprised at the line of people on Lorne Street.

With more than 155 years of history, Tsujiri offers quality green tea flavored products using traditional methods to ensure the best aroma and flavors are brought out.

My friend and I ordered the O-matcha cappuccino and a Tsujiri Sundae with red bean. Because we had come in on the first Saturday since it opened, it took around 20 minutes for us to get our order (not including the 20 minute wait in line).

Once the hype wears off, Tsujiri would be an excellent catch up spot going forward. I loved the matcha ice cream and for the New Zealand summer it’ll be awesome.

Showstopper: Matcha goodness, supposedly the green tea is rich in Vitamin A,C,E and Beta carotene. A healthy nutritious treat in the heart of Auckland CBD.
Jenny Da
Tsujiri sells matcha flavoured desserts including softserves, cakes and drinks.

I’ve tried the plain soft serve and it was very rich with matcha flavour, probably my favourite.

The cheese cake and Swiss cake rolls are quite average but try the drinks! They’re very refreshing for summer.

Have been here a few times and as ive always went around 10pm ish never had to wait in line and ive also noticed the closing time is 10 but the staff were all friendly and greeted me even after hour. I got to agree though with some reviews on the bitter part but thats the pricks of green tea so no complaint on that. Fav drink is tsujiri milk ice blended tastes a lil more healthier and bitter than the green tea frap from starbucks.
Weilong Li
Tried them in Japan, loved it, and never expected they'd come to here xD. But this place gotta be the most authentic matcha place in Auckland I believe, I love the bitterness from all their drinks and food. But I dont think it's for everyone just like coffee, they contain a lot of triditional Japanese tea flavour in a lot of their products and I guess that's what make them different from the others. But for me, it is definitely the best in Auckland. Their staff are really friendly as well! Though the queue is always there and the store is always packed. make sure you go there in the morning or during lunch or dinner time so they are not that busy. Hope this help!

Tsujiri is finally here! tried their ice cream and absolutly loved it. If you are into tea flavour drinks or dessert, definitly try them. The place is nice, and the customer service is great. Definitly one of the best.
Dexinsun1990
Very poor customer service, we stood at the counter for long when the staff noticed us, no one took the order until another couple of minutes. Cakes and ice creams are alright but are not as overwhelming as their brand.

I only reviewed few eatery in AU before. Tsujiri Melbourne is one of them. I don’t know why the queue is sooooo long in auckland. Overprice.

I got the Houjicha Latte (焙じ茶ラテ) after waiting in line for approximately 10 minutes which wasn’t too bad. The latte tasted nice but nothing extraordinary so I’m not sure if it was worth the $8.40 for a regular sized cup. My friend ordered the Tsujiri Whipped Cream Latte (辻利クリームラテ) and was quite disappointed as she said it was rather tasteless.

The interior of the place is very cute but it is rather difficult to guarantee a table as it is often packed.

Absolute gorgeous dessert place located in the heart of Auckland CBD!

There is always a long line to enter, but it is because everyone agrees that it is worth lining up for!

Food:
1) I highly recommend the SUNDAE varieties as they are an absolute delight! Probably the one staple food I will go for! Starts with what seems like fried pieces of rice, topped with a sweet red bean layer, topped with macha icecream, topped with sweet riceballs.

2) The SWISS ROLL MACHA CAKE is also divine! Not sweet at all with a delicious piece of fresh strawberry in the middle

3) The cheesecake - although delicious, was my least favourite here as it lacked flavour compared to the other two foods

Drinks: The drinks are available both hot/cold and stays true to the taste of macha, not the over-sweet macha variations from other places.

Price: Reasonably priced for value of food aswell!

Service: Absolute delightful staff and helpful!

I highly recommed this place for anyone wanting to have a cheeky dessert in the center for the CBD

New hype in town - green tea / matcha drink and all about matcha taste sell in this store.. they also have a cake and ice cream.. nice one and have to face long queue before we can try it 😝

We ordered the houjicha parfait. I was a bit disappointed by the colour. It looked not very appetising .in Japan the houjicha soft serve are a lighter brown shade. The ice cream was okay. I have higher expectation from this popular Japanese brand. May try the green tea one next time and redo my review.

Went twice in one week! Being a huge fan of matcha I just couldn’t resist. The cakes were no where as great as we had hoped but the matcha late and milk blends were all well received by my friends. I enjoy shiratama parfait much more than the tsujiri parfait- the flower was a very tasteless ice cream cone material and didn’t add much to the parfait asides from visuals. My favourite is definitely the tsujiri shaved ice, seemed to be the best for its value too. My friend loved the chiffon cake, but I have yet try. It is definitely on the more expensive side for matcha desserts, but is an exciting visit with a large group of friends who are good at sharing.

Visually appealing as well as taste. Pricing was reasonable considering Matcha as an ingredient is not cheap. The soft serve was amazing, with a strong matcha taste. The Swiss roll was very light for a desert and only had a subtle taste of matcha.
Lucy
Perfect for matcha lovers! Been there a couple of times (including day 2 when the line was 30 minutes long lmao) would definitely recommend the ice blended matcha and any of the ice cream. the matcha tastes super authentic!
The Scarfoodie
Server was lovely, super helpful explaining the different flavors to choose from and was really patient.
Ordered the matcha tsujiri parfait which was suggested as it contained a bit of everything-shiratama mochi, red bean and crispy rice puff layer served with soft serve ice cream topped with waffle piece. Waffle was really average but upon the first taste of matcha icecream, I was greeted by a cool and extremely smooth texture. The taste was slightly bitter but refreshing and balanced with the sweetness of the red bean layer. The yellow topping was sweet and a lovely addition, the white topping was a standard chewy mochi, an option to add more yellow topping would be great!
As for the crispy rice puff layer it adds interesting texture but personally not a fan as it reminds me of cereal.
Overall it was a nice treat, and I’d like to try the shaved ice option next time!
7/10 taste

Walked passed this place and saw longggg queue and wondered why. Finally had a chance to try it myself today. The place was really nice and clean with good decorations. The service was alright. I ordered tsujiri milk ice blended and it was nothing special. It taste like Starbucks green tea frappuccino with a tiny bit more of matcha taste - first disappointment! Also ordered matcha roll and it had no matcha taste again. Strawberry were sour, sponge was good but it’s not matcha roll like it claimed - second disappointed ☹️

I’d been to the original tsujiri in Japan so I was looking forward to trying their ice cream in nz:)
I got the Green Tea soft serve which was so good! The green tea flavour was rich and the balance of sweet and bitter was perfect!
Would definitely be back!

Newly open shop. It’s very good.
Service is good. Ice cream was amazing.
One thing not so good was the green tea. A little bit too much water. But the way was made is correct.

Customer just need to find pay parking.

Food: 8.5/10
Cost: 8.5/10
Service: 8/10

Great first experience at Tsujiri, stayed with a safe option of ordering the Green Tea Softserve #18. Great green tea flavour with a correct amount of bitterness (more bitter than the ones I've had in Japan though), cone was just a normal waffle cone. Can't wait to try more items in the future! Price is also decent!
Alice In New Zealand
It was good to have a green tea cafe here:) but drink was bit expensive than i thought. I had latte and it was good:) the cake was soft:) i would like to have an ice cream here

It was really nice flavor that I wanted to try kind of this matcha ice cream. But it was too busy so I should have waited quite long time. recommended here!!
Pig Cat
It would be nice if they put fresh strawberry instead of a stale one in the Swiss roll😢😢😢😢 Houjicha ice cream was the best choice today. Very subtle and sophisticated fragrance. Surprisingly yummy. Probably even better than the motcha I got today..

Had Tsujiri Latte (cold) and Tsujiri swissroll cake. Fantastic swissroll and Machta Latte. Fairly similar to the one i had at Kyoto, Japan. Keep up Authentic Japanese tea :)

So crazy place. Finally got it. The tsujiri latte is so nice not that sweet however the matcha taste is quite strong. My girlfriend said the soft ice cream is same taste as Japan tsujiri. I had houjicha one was good as well. Customer service is friendly . Good matcha place to go.

I am a fan of Matcha so it is hard to resist trying out this " newish kid on the block " and the delights within. For a start the place looks good and does have a nice relaxing feel to it, but they could do with a bit more seating. It was not too bad as we managed to squeeze in to a spot but it was getting busier when we left , so it could be a problem. Anyway we got the TSUJIRI Shaved Ice and Houjicha Whipped Cream Latte . The order came quick enough and the service is pleasant enough too. The shaved ice was of a good flavour i found with the matcha being really distinctive in the taste. As for the whipped cream latte , as plain as it may sound it still was as enjoyable as the matcha. We did not try any of the cake, swiss roll or ice cream, thus why i gave a 4/5. Next time! So overall will definetly be returning when coming by here again at some point. Just hope it keeps up its popularity for a long time to come..

I would class this treat as a luxury treat. After ordering a slice of cake, a dessert and a drink, it all adds up and can be a bit expensive for an afternoon treat.

The cake is amazing. The cake is so fluffy and melts in your mouth with the creamy filling.

The Matcha flavour is strong but not overwhelming. The bitterness in the Matcha nicely evens out the sweetness.

Louise
Absolutely love everything matcha - and if you’re the same, definitely visit this store. Just recently opened there is always a line outside the door waiting to try all of their delicious desserts.

I got a parfait (with red bean and mochi balls) - usually I’m not a big fan of red bean unless it’s in paste form, but this place had converted me!
Their matcha cream puffs are also amazing and the rest of their desserts are definitely instagrammable!
Very authentic Japanese matcha, great atmosphere!! Great for hanging out with friends after work~ Recommend matcha lovers to go for the yuzu matcha! It's a delicious and very special drink :)

Superb matcha latte 👌
Matcha sundae 9/10 - rich content, loved it!
Matcha puff 7/10
Roll cake 9/10
Matcha cheese cake 5/10 - too bitter, not as creamy as uncle Tetsu

Overall perfect little place for your dessert stomach, but not good enough to wait in queue for an hour :/

I’ve tried tsujiri back in my country and I’m so happy that Tsujiri is finally here in NZ!! The best part is they served pretty legit matcha 🍵 dessert here too!! We have ordered the tsujiri milk ice blended and requested them to add the matcha soft serve on top of the drink as I didn’t like the other toppings on their parfaits. They do not have many varieties here but the staff was kind enough to specially fulfil our request to place the Ice cream on top of our ice blended! 🤩🍵👍🏻
Mai
The matcha taste is very authentic!! A great place for matcha lover! It was a long line and busy place when we came because it was newly opened.
It is spacious but there is not enough seats. It seems like it have more table than chairs. It is a good place to hang with friends.
Lovelyeats
As expected with a newly opened place and due to all the “hype” - there was a pretty long line (about 25 minutes?). However, the girl that took my order was super polite and efficient and my order came through in about five minutes. The Tsujiri Shaved Ice was quite pricey for a tiny portion but you can really taste the authentic matcha. Personally, I thought the shaved ice was a bit chunky and kind of bland, but the matcha syrup and the soft serve made it more appetising. The red beans and dango were a nice addition, adding some texture and sweetness. Overall, definitely will come back to try some of their other stuff and it was a pleasing experience :)
Auckland Eats
To be frank, this establishment simply does not know how to operate efficiently. Ordering a coffee and waiting for a macha latte is a 40min affair. And no, that does not include the time waiting line, nor was this during a busy period. In fact, we were literally the third in line...of the day. Others were just as fed up as we were. We could have literally ordered our coffee or macha dessert here, then had a full breakfast elsewhere and come back and still be waiting. You guys really need to get your act together. Putting a soft serve machine fed ice cream in a cup should not take 40 minutes. This place won't last if it keeps this up.

Food: 4.5/5
Service: 5/5
Ambience: 4.5/5
Price: 3.5/5

As this place had just open last week, there was a queue leading out to the door. Took a while to get served as a result of there being only was one point of sales system.

Food: A slice of the cheesecake, Tsujiri ice blended drink and the Tsujiri Parfait was ordered.

The cheesecake was deffs my fav (5/5). It was nice soft and creamy, not too sweet with hint of matcha.

Tsujiri Ice blended drink wasn’t too special (3.5/5) - slightly sweeter than expected and is very similar to the matcha blended beverage at Starbucks.

Tsujiri Parfait (4/5): Best of this was the matcha soft serve on top. Creamy with a good hit of matcha. Deffs reccomend to only get the soft serve on its own if you’re a matcha lover. Having it together with the rice nibbles at the bottom of the parfait I found quite strange in texture, wasn’t really a fan to be honest. But overall, not too bad.

This place goes straight to the top of my favourite post-dinner and catch up places in Auckland. I love matcha and you'll find the freshest Matcha here, dispensed in a variety of creative ways.

Be careful - the matcha is fresh and strong and will keep you up and bright. It was delicious however, especially when fused with cake.

The lines out the door say it all, but it moves fairly quickly.

One thing I appreciate is they actually hand make their dishes, which I'm sure takes time and is hard work.

Pricing is a bit on the high side for me, but there is work involved, this is niche market (where else are you going to find a Matcha soft-serve in Auckland?), brand driven, and popular store, so not surprising.

I was honoured to be invited to attend their VIP Launch Party a few weeks prior to their official opening!

We were able to try an array of their treats: Cheesecake, Cream Puff, Pancake, Tsujiri Parfait (Matcha), Shaved Ice, Houjicha Soft Serve, Matcha Soft Serve, and the Tsujiri Kinako Korumitsu Latte.

They only use premium authentic Matcha Powder imported from Kyoto, so there's no bull here.
- The Latte was so good! It has a blend of soy bean, matcha and milk and its incredibly rich and so pretty too!
- Parfaits are a must try, especially with that generous layer of red bean and crunchy genmai (rice cereal) at the bottom that has a sophisticated roasted flavour to it.
- Houjicha soft serve was my absolute favourite, 'houjicha' is the toasted version of matcha tea and has an beautiful earthy flavour to it. This soft serve is also blended with soy bean and is a beautiful golden-coppery colour -- DELICIOUS!
- Cheesecakes, Cream Puff and Pancakes and other stuff in their cabinet is also worth trying! I loved the cheesecake because it was moist, fluffy yet strong in flavour.

It's the perfect place to go for your summer dessert fix WITHOUT THE GUILT because it's really affordable AND ALSO matcha has many health benefits and aids in weight loss hehe ;)

Food: 10/10
Price: 10/10
Ambience: 10/10
Service: 10/10

It's along wait to get anything here but the parfaits and the teas are damn good. Love the houjicha tea and parfairt but next time I'll try to come when it's not that busy.

I’ve been wanting to come here since ages, they really took forever to open! I think the line was more manageable today, it was still rather long but seemed to move quickly and it was actually possible to find a table to sit at. The line was just outside the door when I joined and it took almost 20 mins to get to the front. The food took 10 minutes to come out, so not too bad. The service was quite friendly!

Now for the food:
Tsujiri Parfait (Matcha): I really liked this one. The wafer flower was cute but not that tasty, but the little puffs at the bottom were really nice. Those + red bean + the green tea ice cream were really delicious together. Would definitely recommend this if you come here.
Shaved ice: This was nice, but not as nice as the parfait personally. I liked that they put some ice cream in the middle of the ice so you’re not just eating ice the whole way down!
Swiss roll: Not bad but wouldn’t order again, my favourite part of it was the strawberries.
Cheesecake: Again, not bad but I wouldn’t order it again. For me the texture was more like an Uncle Tetsu’s cheesecake, like kinda airy and fluffy not that rich. Also the portion size is tiny!

The total of these was around $33 which is kinda pricey for dessert. If I were to come here again I would just get the parfait or the shaved ice, their pastries (if that’s the right word) seem kinda mediocre.

Had tasted the new dessert restaurant on Sat. It was a very long queue and about one-hour wait until the food was served. Even though it was a long wait, the service was very good. The staffs were very friendly and patient to explain the menu for the first taster like me. Can feel the Japanese humble from the shop keepers.

We have ordered O-Matcha Americano, Matcha Shiratama Parfait and the Matcha Cheesecake. I think the food is worth the waiting because the food is made with love and passion. I am not a green tea fan because I got sweet teeth and green tea stuffs were normally too bitter to me, but I very like their Matcha desserts, especially the Matcha Ice Cream on top of the Shiratama Parfait! The Parfait has a very good presentation and favors combination. The ice cream (strong green tea favor) tasted very nice with the red bean (a bit sweet) and little rice cake (no favour). Cheesecake and the drink were good but not the best. Overall it is unique and worth-trying.

Would like to go back for another Ice Cream again! .J.

Got a parfait, Swiss roll, and a puff take away basically will take you the longest 10 minutes to prepare, but took them 1 hour. I am sorry but not everyone has 1 hour to waste to get ice cream and cake. Other than that, the food was great, that’s the only reason I give it 3 stars. Will try to visit again maybe in a couple months, hopefully the staffs are well trained by then
Tony Shi
The green tea flavoured ice cream is spectacular! It's full bodied but still sweet. It's delicately smooth and you can tell it's high quality.
They take great care in their preparation and presentation.
Apart from the range of drinks there is also cheesecake, cream puffs. Will be back to try them all!

Went first thing in the morning and was about 7th in line since I was order number 7 but waited almost 30mins for a matcha latte, which was disappointing taste-wise, time-wise and price-wise. The order numbers which were going out were unorderly like orders number 9 and 12 went out before I got my order and orders before mine were also unfinished and left waiting too. This was the second day of opening so I was expecting them to be better prepared than day one but unfortunately staff still were asking each other how to complete orders etc. The drinks are quite expensive but the desserts look more reasonably priced. I would possibly go back to try the desserts when the lines aren't as long and hopefully the staff work will be more productive.

Disclaimer: picture below was not my order but left on the street, looks like a matcha americano to me...

Putting aside the fact that today was the grand opening day, seems like the manager and the staffs were not trained properly at all. It took 40 mins to get a green tea latte and a parfait.....one would expect a green tea latte that took so much effort to make to taste decent but unfortunately it was very disappointing.
The Poor Foodie
Food: 4.5/5
Service: 3.5/5
Overall: 4/5

Grand opening today (soft opening yesterday) so many people were lining up:) lined for 15 mins and waited for 20 mins for tsujiri matcha parfait.

The parfait consisted of crunchy rice puff thing at the bottom, a layer of sweet red beans in the middle and green tea icecream at the top with a sweetly braised chestnut and a shiratama dango (a type of mocha made by glutinous rice flour). Green tea icecream was very very rich in flavour and it was literally matcha in an icecream form. To be honest, im not a fan of green tea because of its bitterness that comes slowly. The sweetness of red bean and the rice puff balanced the bitterness and the chestnut and dango also tasted lovely.

The parfait was not big but definitely gave your different flavours and textures in a little cup. I’m sure green tea fans will love this place so much but you are not a fan of matcha just like me, then parfait or shaved ice may be a better options to order because the other components of the green tea products can ease out the bitterness for you.

In term of service and setting, there are definitely rooms for improvement. The staff looked incredibly busy due to the floods of customers and from time to time there were confusion of orders. Since people come and go quickly and staff are busy, sometimes the tables were not cleaned up. But I’m sure this will improve when everyone is more familiar with the setting. It will also be great if they have a digital number display to show the numbers of orders that are ready to be picked up as the store is so busy and the machines are loud so not every customer can hear the numbers being called.

So excited for the opening! There was a line but it was well worth the wait. The prices are as expected. $10.50 for parfait and $6.50 for a slice of Swiss roll. The Swiss roll was delicious but maybe not $6.50 delicious. Overall definitely go for a try.

Taste: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
Interior Deco: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗
Customer service: 🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑
Recommend: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
Ordered 3 types of parfait with matcha and houjicha flavour! Waited 1&1/2 hr after ordering :( but can understand since it’s first day soft opening. The dessert is very rich in tea taste and gets stronger at the end. A little strong to finish the whole cup despite having a small cup! The houjicha is very interesting and quite like it! Just a little too strong! Sponge cake is a nice blend with the matcha as it neutralise the richness! Overall not bad!
Tiny Sized Foodie
I do understand that being their first day of opening, there’ll be hiccups. But it’s certainly not very acceptable to be waiting 20 over minutes just to get a soft serve ice cream (only to be told after 20-ish minutes that they ran out of the ice cream ingredients and have to wait for another 5-10 minutes for the ice cream to form).

I have to say they need to put more work into reviewing their workflow to ensure that their service is more efficient.

1. They kept taking in orders but nobody was labelling the orders on the cups and so caused the HUGE backlog - I’m talking about 20-30 orders backlog. They were still calling out number 70-ish when my order number is 102.

2. Staff are all over the place with what they are supposed to do. They should have assigned someone to handle the drinks station and another person stationed at the ice cream machine to clear all the ice cream orders. They had staff who were making drinks jumping to the ice cream machine then neglecting the drinks orders. It doesn’t take much skill for someone to attend to the ice cream orders. Leave the making of the matcha drinks to the staff who are trained with doing that!

3. The manager/ head of staff doesn’t seem to know what he should be doing. He was “helping” another staff put the cake boxes into the paper bags when the other staff was already working on it. Put your time to better use! Help out with other stations which are unmanned!
