Review Charlie & George Cafe - Auckland

I love this place! I come here to catch up with my friends sometimes and it has such a good variety of food on the menu as well as the cabinet. I love their bagels here and they always have such friendly service! I’ve come here quite a few times and I’m always happy with my meal

Heck of a spot! We came here post workout and tucked in to one of the smoothies with added protein. Just because we’re looking to get swoooole. It was delicious and the service was great. Try catch it on a nice day as it has a tidy little outdoor area as well. Thanks guys! Hamish Dorrington Kakapo Business Sales

Went there for brunch. 3 adults + 1 infant. The buttermilk pancakes were great! I added bacon and the ice-cream. I did ask for cream instead, but they didn't have any. Pancakes were nice and fluffy, and the bacon was cooked to my liking. They had okay access for the stroller and a change table in the bathroom, which is a huge plus! 4 stars only as the coffee wasn't the best.

Stopped by for lunch. Fairly busy but there was a free table. Iced chocolate was a but bitter but the ice cream made it alright. They had a few different items on the menu and tried the pumpkin risotto. The rice was a bit too al dente for me but the pumpkin flavour was there. The feta and nuts gave it good texture and flavour. Nice cafe to stop by if you're in the area. Edit: We came by for a work lunch so there was a decent number of us. We did book beforehand. They are part of the Stonefield complex so you are able to use the parking lot there. They have both cabinet food as well as an a la carte menu. The menu has a range of interesting items like a lamb tostada and chicken and waffles. I ended up going with the creamy mushrooms. The mushrooms were nicely seasoned and there was a decent heap over the sourdough. It was a nice place for a casual lunch and does cater for most dietary needs.

I have not visited Charlie and George in many years and it's still a excellent cafe and I love menu. The chicken waffle tasted delicious and I would highly recommend this dish if your coming. We loved the decor and great service we got from the friendly staff.

Amazing place for breakfast and lunch. Fast and professional service. Have a great range of different foods and are quite sizeable portions. Plus the quality of the food was amazing. Can get busy but it's not too loud which is good. Inside and outside seating available. Definitely recommend to try it out if you're thinking about it.

This is one of my go-to place to have breakfast. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Love this cafe! One of the best cafes I've been to because their all day breakfast and lunch menus are different to the typical ones you get elsewhere! Nice plating, good flavour and substantial too. Highly recommend if you are in the area:)

Loved the chicken and waffles!! 🍗🧇🍔☕️ Food is good i feel every time I go the food taste different and less flavorful.

During the weekend, I visited Charile and George café and was delighted by the exceptional service from the staff, who were incredibly amiable. Moreover, the delectable cuisine served at the establishment was not only delightful to the taste buds but also offered at an exceptionally reasonable price.

Had a lovely time with hubby there this morning, thank god no flies around so means good and clean, enjoyed our cappuccino and flat white with our breakfast, thanks team 👍💕

Always a pleasant place to be. I have been going regularly for the past few weeks and the staff are kind and coffee taste really nice. Consistent service.

Charlie & George is a great cafe! I stopped by today for lunch and the food was great. I had the best service from Chenna who looked after me and recommended what to eat for lunch. I was also met with great customer service from everyone else in their team. Great neighbourhood cafe! Definitely recommend!

Had a wonderful experience here, the pricing was reasonable, the environment was very pleasant and overall the food stood out immensely. Will be back.

I am I love with the cafe. Highly recommended. The best place. I totally enjoyed the food thank you for amazing service.

We went here on my birthday (practically as soon as Auckland hit level 2 on the first time around) and the service was super friendly! I love the aesthetic of this cafe and the food was super yum too. Real generous portion of lemon curd and berry compote, which is gets a big yes from me 😊

Family and I had brunch here today and it was brilliant. Our server was very polite and professional, drinks and food we did not have to wait long at all. Food is a tad expensive but the portion size is generous as you can see. Highly recommend and will be back. Thank you for a great first time experience. Staff are all really friendly.

We had eaten our food, had to ask for our coffees. Kind of expect the coffee in advance of the food. Waffles were dry and tasteless. My wife said the pancakes were “ok”
Ivy
Came here for brunch, really nice atmosphere, friendly and airy feel. Had high expectations coming here however the taste of the food could have been better. The chicken waffles were definitely not your traditional ones, it has a lot of extras such as sauces which in my opinion were too much. The steak sandwich wasn’t too bad, more like a big piece of steak on top of everything rather than a “sandwich”. Portion sizes were pretty decent.

In the heart of the Stonefields development, Charlie & George offer more than just good food & friendly service. There's a strong sense of community here that the locals gravitate to. The staff are all smiles, the food is great value for money and with a menu that caters to all dietary requirements across the board - it's not hard to see why they keep coming back for more. 4☆

My favourite place to come then have breakfast

Had the beef cheek and potatoe hash with poached egg and habanero hollandaise... was really warm and yummy.

Very impressed by the vegetarian options! Have been back twice for the Vegan burger - yummy with flavour and substance. Nice outdoor area if you don't sit under the birds ;)

Great atmosphere, awesome service, meals were generous and delicious. We ordered the big breakfast and pancakes with bacon. Will be back to try other menu items :)

I’ve been here a few times & every time has been an unfortunate let down. Twice, I was served water cups with previous lipstick marks. I ordered the open steak sandwich which I asked to be cooked medium however was served to the Rare side. Not fresh produce & the bread wasn’t toasted.

- Apart from the food the server was absolutely lovely. Great manners, great aura. Young female!

This place has amazing food. I recommend if you want to have lunch date or if it isn’t crowded or busy like normal maybe a brunch for family. I love the sweet items on the menu - the waffles are my fav!!! It’s super healthy and has a friendly and warm atmosphere to it! Great for friends, students and possibly children however it is a little crowded and very busy on the weekends.

I ordered Mocha, it was like hot chocolate👎 Bad service, they won't let me change my order when the kitchen haven't starting making it, and the food taste like can food, no freshness at all👎👎👎👎

Went here for brunch on a busy Wednesday, staffs we're very nice and attentive, good food and good coffee plus the good atmosphere.

We ordered the Big Breakfast and Egg Bene with Bacon, they also offer Bene Salmon and Bene Vegie which is mushroom and spinach.
I must say they do serve a very generous amount of food on the big Breakfast.
Definitely coming back ❤️
Arianaaa
interior was beautiful, full of sunshine through their glass windows. There were indoor and outdoor seating too. Ordered the
•Fried chicken Waffles- full of flavour but it didn’t come w any sauce, so it was rather dry. Had to ordered Aioli sauce for extra charge too
•Beef & Agria Mash was absolutely lovely and full of flavour

Would not go back here again!!!!! Waited for ages for our food and had terrible, unfriendly service!!! When food finally arrived and I started eating it I found a HAIR!!!!!! Absolutely disgusting and no apology from any staff members. Swapped my food but the other meal was also below average. When I went to pay there was no apology and they made me pay for the meal including the extra avocado I added on that I did not even eat because the meal got taken away. Rude staff and crap food. So many other nice places to eat in Auckland.

My local coffee hotspot since I work nearby. Food here is amazing too! Love this place! Portion is massive I can really eat so this is one of the few cafes that I feel full!

I have been here many times, and always enjoy the food and atmosphere. A wide variety of tasty dishes, making it ideal for a brunch date with friends or family. The only downside is that it is often overcrowded, making it hard to get a table and making the staff quite flustered. However still definitely worth visiting.

Been here 3 years ago and food was better those days. But that is not the main concern. Service of the new owner (no problem with the people serving) was so bad that it seems he forgot to be polite and respectful to his customers.
Two incidents, we ordered buttermilk pancakes. The taste and texture of pancakes were already off and the milk was too sour.
Another incident, we requested our tea pot to be filled with hot water because my friend consumed the tea already, the owner advised the waitress just to add tap water.
Another incident, we always order their iced coffee, the price of their cold drinks is $2 dearer, the person from the counter will give us a stamp on our card but the owner - he declined giving us a stamp.
Another one incident, the fried chicken was off. Because it was deep fried, hard to tell but the smell of the chicken was terrible.
Atmosphere is good. If you are not fussy then you will enjoy it.

This is a fabulous cafe. The coffee is great. So close to the netball courts and it’s very popular. So popular in fact that there was a 25 minute wait for a takeaway coffee today If I had all day and wanted to relax - all good. Today was not the day.
My feedback to the owners and front staff is just advise the wait time - then we can decide whether we can afford the time. 🌺

It used to be really nice local cafe with lovely design and delicious food. but since last year, all the quality gone down a little bit. Don't know the reason, but hope they can improve to the quality they used to have, service always great anyway

Stumbled across the place on a Sunday . Myself a bd a few mates went for a late breakfast - food and atmosphere is amazing . The big breakfast is huge - hands down the best big breakfast I’ve ever had . Only reason why I gave it a 4 star was because the food took a a little while to come but with the restaurant being pretty packed it was understandable . The food was worth the wait. Coffee was alright - Highly recommend.

Used to be a regular here! I’ve tried everything from blueberry waffles to salmon eggs benny over the years but have been out of town for a bit, so was keen to pop back in and see what was new! The popularity of C&G certainly hasn’t changed. Granted, it was a Saturday morning at 11.30, but the cafe was buzzing and full. I ordered a chai latte and we got some cheese and date scones to share at the table, with berry jam. The coffee was average, a little bit on the warm rather than hot side. And although the date scones were delicious, bursting with dates, and light, our jam was forgotten! The wait staff were so rushed off their feet it took us a while to hunt one down and receive our jam, by which time the scones had mostly been devoured and were cooling down (warm scones or nothing, right?!)The jam however is incredible. It has full berries and is just the perfect sweetness. All in all, great atmosphere and tasty food. Next time I’d go for a smoothie or juice instead of a coffee, though.

Nice sunny spot outside for brunch. Good options available for gluten free/dairy free. Eggs were cooked perfectly. Attentive, friendly wait staff.

Third time here.
Enjoyed the Kokako coffee, great warmth and nice balance of acidity.
Hummingbird cake tastes fine, my Açai bowl was a bit disappointing. It even had ice cubes in, such a winter day it was not a good taste feeling.
Really soggy not creamy at all. Banana slice, kiwi fruit cut was beautiful, quinoa tasted a bit plain.
Seems it needs more efforts to put out a proper breakfast simple dish.
Food and service is quite good in this place. We go over there often for breakfast/brunch after swimming in the weekends, nice and relaxed atmosphere. Just $7 for an almond Mocha I find it a bit excessive though.

Went on a Saturday had banana bread which we could tell was not fresh and possibly been frozen. Wasn't very clean at all and cups were dirty

Coffee is always amazing here. Their cinnamon rolls are one of the best in AKL. Both cabinet and menu food are worth the drive to Stonefields. Very accomodating when I was pregnant. Staff are very welcoming and found this to be a very kid-friendly cafe.
FoodMakesMeHappy
Have been waiting for so long to try this place out but was quite disappointed with the food and drinks that me and my husband had. The coffee cups were dirty so we had to ask for it to be changed and the second one was also not so clean. We had Big Breakfast and it was not big at all. The hash was so thin and hard almost unable to chew on. One small slice of ciabatta toast was given and probably one egg used for scrambled egg and it was so dry and over cooked. Coffee was average and turmeric latte was so bitter (Big fan of Turmeric latte and have tried it in numerous places). Staff were very friendly but never going back. Thought it was such a waste of money.

I like the simple and open plan dining area. On a sunny day it seems very refreshing with the natural sunlight shiny through.

The breakfast menu has all the staple dishes. The poached eggs are done very well and the portions are decent. The breakfast ingredients were of his quality.

The savoury corn waffles with chicken was OK. It seemed like there was more salad than waffle and chicken. The waffles could have done with more sauce of some kind of the salad could have used some dressing. Seemed rather dry without some more sauce or dressing.

I swear the menu has been the same for like 5 years? Needs a bit of a freshen up- but basically I am here to express my disappointment at the lack of vegan options- seriously??? One option??? You would think from afar that a cafe like this would cater to the fast growing number of vegans out there (not to mention those who are lactose intolerant and don't want milk or cheese or butter or yoghurt in everything?), I reckon if you introduced some new things- i.e. smoothie bowls, vege salads, even simple jam/nut butters/spreads and toast would be good just to give people out there an option. Just some thoughts, would definitely bring more people in and make it more lively :)

It was good brunch place:) especially iced coffee was really good :) it was very crowded, but very fast to get order:) i will come again next time

Was welcomed by friendly staff and brightly coloured interior and nice seating. Definitely, the place to come for brunch or even just for a nice coffee and catch up with a friend. They have a good range of cooked dishes as well as cabinet food and sweet treats. I tried their stacked mushrooms which were creamy and delicious. Their portions are generous and everything was served hot and fresh.

I also ordered a side of fries and they were nicely handcut and large. They were also served in a really cute dish that gave an American diner style vibe.

Also ordered an apple strudel muffin, which was large in size and had little apple pieces scattered around. It was sweet yet a little savoury also, where all flavours complemented each other well.

Overall it was a nice meal with comfortable seating with lots of free parking!

Food 8.5/10
Service 7/10
Ambience 8/10
Price 7/10

Food was very long but we had to wait for over 30 minutes to get it. Service was friendly though and they told us about the wait beforehand which was good. Definitely a popular place but you can see why!

Lovely place for brunch with lots of seating both indoors and outside. Great food with a slight touch of class. Options available for GF, DF, and vegetarian, plus most items had a “(k)” for Kids sized serve which worked well for our kids. Plenty of parking too, plus other food options nearby. Would recommend if in or around Stonefields.

Great cafe, lovely atmosphere, fantastic staff! Food definitely 5/5 we had brunch here today on a busy sat morning. We had waffles, pancakes, eggs Benedict and 3 egg omelet! All dishes with generous portions and delicious with little touches! Coffee 3/5.
Faye Stubbs
I like it here. I've never had a bad meal but don't come in a rush for kitchen food as there is always a wait. It's a busy place but also has a lot of staff working there. Drinks can take 20 mins and today our food took 50 minutes. Portions are always generous but don't come starving or you'll get hangry.
Louise Ngaei
I have dined here for brunch many times. They do breakfast well, great coffee and egg based dishes and great for kids. The counter food is delicious looking too, lots of salads and their baked goods are delicious! Cookies, slices, donuts, cupcakes. Always good service. The only miss was the paleo salad - which was strawberry purée, chicken and 30 roast almonds! Highly recommended for families, kids and a nice breakfast.

Came here for brunch and the service and food was average at best. The café seems run down and tired, the menu is so worn you can barely read the items printed on there.
Ashleigh Michelle
Love this cafe! It's one of my favourites as the food is amazing, portion sizes huge and staff are friendly and efficient. I also really like the modern ambience and the cafe itself is nice and spacious. On Sunday I ordered the Vege Scramble which was delicious and full of flavour with just the right amount of chilli and feta. The sourdough came with lots of butter and was super crunchy.

I had the caffeinator smoothie as well which was a nice change from my standard coffee order. The avocado in it makes for a very creamy texture which isn't too sweet. I tried my friends pancakes and they were super fluffy and light, and the serving was so huge we couldn't finish them. On a previous visit I ordered the granola which I still remember as it was the best granola I've ever had. I hope they keep up the good work and never change the menu!
Caroline Burton
One hour to wait before receiving the meal is too long. Employ more staff, or whatever it takes to provide the service people expect when paying top dollar for average food. Also, why no possibility to vary the breakfast menu? Don't you realise there are many lactose intolerant folk, not to mention the vast and growing number of vegans - they too like to breakfast 'out' sometimes. Get your act together, Charlie & George!
Alex Pugh
Won’t be returning here after receiving horrible service. Waited over half an hour for our food, which we queried about and were told it would be another 10 minutes. We left as we decided it wasn’t worth waiting for. The cafe was not busy at all, very disappointing.
Phillip Shoebridge
I like the food here and I like to sit outside whilst my child draws with the chalk they provide on the pavement, however one thing that is always annoying here is they never see you when you sit on a table outside, the waiting staff are always busy serving the inside tables and forget to service the outside tables, usually I sit outside and nobody notices me then I need to go inside and queue to ask them for a menu. Some more attention on the outside tables is needed!!

Excellent food, great service and nice seating area for yummy breakfast! Tried their Creamy Mushroom, Crispy Pork Belly, Iced Coffee and Latte on Ice and they are all spot on goodness. Will definitely eat here again.

This is a nice place for brunch/lunch.
It's mostly busy on the weekend when im there.

I love the cafe concept and the food is good too.

I recommend the cabinet food...the portion is really generous and it comes with some greens and chutney.

Best to come in a small group..

Went here for Saturday lunch and have to say the overall experience was very disappointing. After being seated nobody took our order for over 15mins and only after I caught the attention of our waitress. We ordered our food and asked for water which never arrived. 15mins after ordering we were told our food would be another 10-15mins which was ok except it didn't turn up for another 30mins. I ordered the chicken schnitzel burger which was good but the chips were undercooked. My wife's wagyu burger was flavourless and chips were undercooked again. I very much doubt we will go here again.
Rebecca Roberts
we have been here on several occasions but will not return. The service was appalling ;from hot water glasses delivered to our table to incorrect tea orders, I asked for trim milk, full cream appeared, no extra hot water and 10 mins to get a pot refilled. No one really caring about us. The food was adequate but took 45 mins to come(this was at 11 am- not even peak time) The chef seemed to be on a go slow, and all the urging of wait staff could not get him fired up. My meal waited 7 mins on the pass to be delivered so the eggs bene order could be ready and as a result was cool and chewy. The bene muffins were stacked and had no butter, the eggs were hard poached and the sauce almost inedible with acidity. No questions were asked by the lass who removed our plates when over half our meals were left. I think its lost its heart. Food substitutes have lowered quality and lack of staff training really shows
Mun Clair
I have been here once before for a meal and visited again for a coffee. Both times I've been thoroughly disappointed. The first time, I struggled to find anything on the menu that really interested me. Finally, I decided on the vege scramble which is supposed to come with eggs and creamy mushrooms. The mushrooms were near non existent which was sad. the meal overall lacked flavour and excitement - extra salt and pepper did not help in the slightest. The wait time was also very long, took well over half an hour. Would give a 1 but I liked the presentation of the food and the coffee is okay. Probably wouldn't visit again!

This is one of my most favorite breakfast cafes in Auckland. My partner (a chef in Auckland) and I drive out of our way to come here. We actually have to force ourselves to check out other breakfast spots...Totally worth the price and they serve breakfast all day long. Service is really great, as well
Crackerjacker
Have been here a couple of times but not somewhere I would want to really come again. The service is always very slow and the staff are not that friendly. The food tastes pretty good but not worth the price at all. I ordered fries and you get like 8 potato chip for an expensive price that I can't really remember. Smoothies are ok, nothing to rave about but yea, not the best experience I've had at a cafe and don't plan on coming back any time soon
Zoe Holt
Ordered a chai latte which was literally frothed milk with cinnamon on top, and our plates then weren't cleared until 30 minutes later when our food arrived, which was annoying because it took up the entire table. Loud inside so I had to lean in to hear everybody. Incredibly busy on a Sunday morning and not a lot of walking space around the tables. The kitchen is very open plan and you can see everything being made which I liked but also made me feel uncomfortable. The waiter gave our first dish and said he was coming back to clear the coffee dishes but never did which was disappointing. The pork belly was nice apart from the overcooked egg. The eggs benedict and buttie were very good ☺️ came here after reading the reviews but I probably wouldn't give it another shot as the $6 frothed milk with cinnamon was a little disappointing.

Went there for a late breakfast on a Saturday morning, it was fairly busy.

Food: 4.O
Environment: 4.5
Service: 2.5
Coffee: 1.O

We waited to be seated for a couple of minutes and not one waiter even looked at the line of people queuing for a seat. Instead we had to go and find someone to seat us which was frustrating.

We were served fairly PromPtly by an in unenthusiastic waiter who took our order, one flat white, one blueberry waffles, and two big breakfasts.

The coffee arrived approximately 15 minutes later and it was barely drinkable. The milk itself was incredibly watery but rather foamy on toP and the coffee shot was unbearably bitter and. We sent it straight back.

After 3O minutes the waffles arrived, they were very well cooked with a decent helping of all the sides, however it needed some acidity and tartness to help balance all the sweetness. Overall it was a Pleasant dish

After 35 minutes I enquired about the two big breakfasts and was informed they would be another couple of minutes. I understand that it was a very busy cafe however it's common courtesy to inform your customers that there may be quite a delay in receiving the food (approx 4O minutes).

The two big breakfasts were fairly tasty, the beans were a highlight and the eggs (fried in my case) were cooked perfectly. The bread unfortunately wasn't served with butter but I would happily order the food again.

Throughout the experience the waiter was very unenthusiastic and didn't display a good knowledge of the menu.

Overall the food and cafe environment were lovely however very Poor service and an atrocious coffee let the whole experience down.

Second time I've been here and disappointed once again. The service was average, we had to wait a while until someone came to seat us. They seemed disinterested and obviously preoccupied with the busy cafe. We ordered the Beef Schnitzel Burger, it took over 20 minutes to receive our food. We even had to altert the waiter to check up on it. It was lacking in flavour and presented in a way that made it difficult to eat. I had a iced latte that was average, and my partner had a berry smoothie which he didn't enjoy. It wasn't worth the $52 we paid.

Busy little cafe in a place you won't expect. Pet friendly which I found quite nice for people.lives in the neighborhood. The chicken corn waffle I had was great~~ Worth breaking my diet for~~

Best little cafe in Auckland by far! Front of house are amazing and the chefs pump out fantastic food with minimal waiting times to a high standard. Only thing is get in early in Saturday and Sunday or you will be lucky to get a table.

Charlie & George is Amazing Cafe! Great service and fantastic food. I Love being able to go somewhere and have good hot coffee. Their chicken and quinoa salad is off the charts awesome.
So worth a visit.

Went to Charlie and George on Sunday morning for breakfast with friends. The staffs greeted us and made us seated. The cafe us very busy but was amazed to see their service. I ordered egg benedict bacon and my friends order pancakes and blueberry waffles the food was very tasty and was arrived on time. Definitely will go there again.

Soooo good!! At first glance of the menu it seems a little pricey but definitely worth it! Huge portions. Good quality. Awesome service as well as atmosphere.
C & J
Celebrating mother's day with C's mom & family. Atmosphere was relaxed and simple. Staff greeted however they were obviously preoccupied with how busy the cafe was. Once seated, orders were taken however we were told it would be a 40 minute wait for food. I ordered the Caffeinator smoothie. Interesting taste however could only drink half of it due to the thickness added by the avocado. For food I ordered the Corn waffles and chicken. Chicken had some flavour however needed some salt. The waffles had a nice taste to it however became soggy due to the moisture of the chicken. Overall dining experience was okay.

For those who enjoy a post modern ambience, this is worth a visit if you are in the area. Some great staff, particularly in the kitchen. Enjoyable, consistently produced coffee wich has recently improved an additional notch to my taste. Limited range of tea. Would benefit from more frequent, effective, table cleaning. Folk wishing to avoid the noise can have some confidence in the excellent take-away service which has been dependable during my regular experience of this cafe. Needs to be open a little longer each afternoon but perhaps there are insufficient customers to support extended trading hours.
G
Nice cafe with great covered outdoor seating. Menu looks nice, the blueberry waffles were pretty good. My friends had the pancakes and fish cake which also looked good. I wouldn't mind coming back here to try other food on the menu and the free car park is the icing on the cake.
Charlene Weaver
Quite a neat cafe in the growing suburb of Stonefields, I imagine it gets pretty busy being right opposite the netball courts. The service was ok but could have been more attentive. They took a while to take our orders and re-fill our water.

I ordered the corned beef and potato hash with poached eggs and hollandaise. This was very filling and tasty. The eggs were perfectly poached, the hollandaise was creamy and buttery but not too rich and the potato hash was good too. My only critic would be that the hash was a little on the cold side when served, and could have been crispier on the outside. But other than this it was a pleasant lunch! I'd definately return.
Nicole Jana
Nice food but took way too long to come out, 45 minutes to cook eggs bennie and scrambled eggs on toast. This was on a Saturday morning too, so as can be expected it's a busy time, maybe hire more staff?
Ken White
A coffee meeting. Wonderful service even though it was right on closing time. Fabulous coffee. Quiet surroundings allowed for a personal meeting. Well done Charlie & George.

Great food with great service ,Great environment,Had a great experience, nice seating area. We tried corn waffles, paleo chicken salad ..big quantity ... definitely visit again

Brunched here on a lovely day, cafe itself is located in a very nice place, away from the bustle of Sylvia Park. It's a very busy cafe, offering seating both inside and outside. We sat outside that had plenty of shading from trees so great stuff.

In terms of staff, most of the waitresses were lovely, however when we were seated the waiter advised he'd bring us the menus but roughly 10 minutes went by and he was just walking around the tables before we just got up and asked another staff member for menus, he then followed up with our menus and water. . But the rest of the staff were efficient, cleaning and clearing tables often.

But anyways ~ the food. We ordered the chicken with corn waffles with a poached egg, big breakfast, Tropicana lassi and the caffeinator.

I enjoyed the chicken in my waffle, however I felt the waffles lacked corn and was a little on the dry side, I'm glad I ordered the extra egg to yolk it up.

The bug breakfast had delicious sausages, and the hash brown was perfectly crunchy and fluffy on the inside.

I really enjoyed my Tropicana lassi, nice and well balanced. I the caffinator was described as not the best (I don't drink coffee but my partner does) couldn't get much of a description but he left it half drunk.

Overall, I'll come back for the hash browns 😍 and possible to dabble into other items on the menu.

I use to love this place, but apparently ownership changed and the quality and service has gone down a little. Bit pricey too.

I could be wrong about the ownership, some dude in the sauna at next generation gym was telling me about it and we shared our thoughts.

Environment: 4/5
Food Quality: 4/5
Food Quantity: 3/5
Service: 3.5/5
Price $25pp

Great place . Very spacy . Lovely customer service . For some reason i found the bagels a bit off and very strongly favoured with capers. Other then that everything was good .

I am struggling to see the hype of this cafe. We found the place to be unkempt and the tables and chairs uncomfortable. The food was ok. I ordered the beetroot salad from the cabinet which came with zero dressing which made for a very dry salad...judging by the condition of the beetroot it had been in the cabinet for a long time. The clincher for us was the state of the toilets. They were dirty and messy, which is very unpleasant.

Every
time I go here I drop the rating.

This time the coffee was terrible.
Sour and over heated. Over heating spilts the almond milk. Now given the almond
milk is a totally unreasonable $1.5 more. Given almond milk costs $3 retail and
enough for 4-5 coffees and $0.50 more than soy which costs the same as almond
in a supermarket I expect perfect coffee.

For a sustainable style restaurant
the pos server had no idea how big a keep cup (which they sell) was.

Some staff training is seriously
needed.

Change of owner and a massive drop in ratings.
Food was nice but having scoured the menu I chose an interesting healthy meal with all the ingredients listed. Then it turns up with cucumber, yuck. You may not think much of this but those of us that don’t like it, truly hate cucumber. It taints everything and repeats back.
The manager happily said he’d make a new one but it turned up really quickly and we are pretty convinced they just pulled it out. Now if that was going to solve the problem I could have done it with my thumbs and fingers provided by millennia of evolution which also let me keep some gene that made the meal repeat for several hours.
Bit disappointed. Pretty shit actually given every other ingredient was listed. What if it was something I or someone else was fully allergic to???

Great cafe in the new Stonefields development. Inside is very light & airy with lots of natural light. Outdoor seating available too.
Coffee is Kokako - nicely made, strong but not bitter.
Menu is varied with classics & innovative options too. Decided to try the pork belly which was beautifully presented & full of different flavours & textures. The hash was very crispy so a little harder to eat, but not really an issue. The flavour of the beetroot, the pickle & the smokey tomato really rounded off the dish beautifully.
Service was really good. Water brought to the table. Lots of papers available.

Never fails to please! Amazing service, even better food. Our fave is the Big Breakfast. The food here stands out from any other place. Have had brunch at places all over New Zealand and even overseas and nothing compares to the unique and local ingredients used to make these masterpieces. I am overdue for a visit!

Came here on a busy Saturday morning and was very impressed by the friendly service and efficient delivery of our meals. I got the salmon eggs bene and my friend got the salmon bagel. Good portions of salmon. I like that the hollandaise is made in store and not bulk purchased. The bagel was a bit of a let down - it was too 'bready' and there wasn't enough cream cheese for our liking. The coffee was fantastic so I ordered a second one. The smoothies were also a hit - I'd like to try the "Caffeinator" next time we visit.

Don't come on the weekend between 11am - 1pm! It is very busy, the staff were slow and inexperienced, kept getting orders wrong, and we had to wait a FULL HOUR for our meal. Other customers around us seemed very frustrated about the waiting time too.

Also there was only 5 pieces of fries with the burger meal - very stingy portion for a $20 meal. My quinoa parfait tasted like it had been sitting there for too long - the quinoa and nuts were all soggy (usually crunchy).

Usually I really like Charlie & George but this was a truly disappointing experience. I can only conclude the reason for this was because they are heavily understaffed.
Momo
A bit too busy maybe, had to wait a while to be seated. And a bit more time for food to arrive. The chicken waffle tasted nice but portion/flavour was overwhelming after a while. Can be easily shared with a second person. Overall, quite a good cafe but I found it to be quite hectic. Stagger a visit when it's not peak hour for a better experience in my opinion.

Visited this morning and sad to say, was disappointed. We came here a while ago and it was pumping; good service, food and coffee.
Today we came in. Got seated and greeted which was nice.
Coffee came out fast as did the food. Coffee was average but the food was good.
What let this place down was the service.
We never got asked how everything was, never got checked on at all. Would've like a second coffee but never got asked.
5 staff on the floor and there were only 4 tables dining.
Would recommend the blueberry waffles.

I haven't been here for awhile, maybe there has been a change of management? A small group from work went for a birthday lunch. We arrived at 12.15 the cabinets were bare except for a few large sandwhiches and some sad looking muffins. We were seated squished next to the very tight walkway with other customers brushing past. Its not somewhere to go for a quiet catch up. We all decided to get the smoked fish cakes $18.00 for two cakes and some lettuce leaves. We had to wait quite awhile. The food was luke warm and not what I imagined it would be, they were mostly large hunks of potato mashed in with some flakes of fish, I had about eight small bones in mine, which I showed to the waitress, she didn't seem too interested at all. There was a strange flavour we couldn't quite work out, it was bitter maybe the oil drizzled on the plate, there wasn't much hollandaise sauce and the avocado puree was brown and unappealing.
It all looked and felt a bit tired to me, like the attention to detail isn't there anymore. I live and work locally, but I won't be going back.

Tuesday morning nice and sunny day and went to C & G's .warm and welcoming.i had the bacon bene and wife had bluberry waffles. Food was great ,nice coffee and friendly staff.

Went to the cafe on a rainy saturday morning and was surprised to find it packed! Even though there were no tables we managed to find some space. Food took a little time but was expected given the rush of customers.

We had the vege scramble, blueberry waffles and a Chicken sandwich from the cabinet. The portions were more than enough and tasted very good! Drinks were not too bad either.

Would definitely visit again to try more stuff.

I took my mum and dad here for father's day, having never been myself.

After being seated it took about 20 minutes for our order to be taken. It took more than an hour for our food to arrive. During that hour we asked a waitress for an update, which she never delivered. We had to get up and complain and were told for food was being plated. 10 minutes after that they told us that they had run out of gluten free bread, so our order had to be changed. After another wait the food finally arrived.

After such a wait I expected that food to be pretty good, but I can only describe it as average - about what you would expect from any corner coffee shop. Bland pancakes, corned beef hash which consisted mostly of potato, cold eggs etc..

Very disappointing, especially as my family had driven for over two hours just to have a meal with us.

The toilets were also very dirty. Overall they seem very understaffed, or perhaps just very inefficient. I can understand that at busy times things can take awhile, but at the very least you should warn customers when they arrive that there will be a wait, especially if it is anywhere near an hour.

To their credit that staff member at the counter took the drinks off the bill, however a warning of wait time would have been much more appropriate.

Very disappointment.

Great place to have breakfast and a coffee, there was six of us as we were glad we arrived early as the place is busy! we had hot drinks all of us, the big breakfast, benedictine eggs veggie and salmon, harsh&corned beef eggs and blueberry waffles x 2, generous portions, great service and the food was really nice indeed, it would've been great to have their famous chicken/corn waffles for breakfast, to be fair on them, that's only offered at lunch time, definitely coming back for it!

This place is usually packed and very hard to get a table. We managed to get one and they were really busy. They seemed a bit under staffed both out the front and in the kitchen. There seemed to be a bit of waiting.

We were seated and they gave us water for the table. It took a while to get their attention to order. Once ordered it took another while to get the food.

The food was good. It was an interesting mix of classic breakfast items and what appears to be like American diner fare. Decent portion sizes and was very tasty.
I had the chicken and corn waffles. The waffles had bits of corn in it and tasted like corn. The chicken was fried well and the salad went well with both.
Nice place to have some food if you aren't in a rush to go anywhere.

Arrived to a very packed weekend brunch
Were seated on arrive and given a menu also warned there may be a wait for our coffee and meals. Meals very will presented with gererous portions I felt my latte was on the cold side my meal was the open steak sandwich.Good ingredients and generous serving. my partner was very pleased with her flat white and fish cakes.Homemade fish cakes with chunks of fish 😆@ Cabinet food looked very inviting also the open kitchen to this cafe is great😊 . Don't make a special trip to this cafe but would defiantly dine again if in the area.Great menu and modern cafe that is well patronized with great parking😉Note if your wait staff struggle to serve food and coffee to tables it is too squashed! The Cafe has a great atmosphere, and table condiments are delicate, especially the coconut sugar which was a nice touch.
However we never got to experience the food, after being seated and being told the waiting time could be up to 30 minutes, we sat patiently. As 3/4 of an hour passed and tables around us that were seated later had been served, I went to ask the waitress how much the longer the wait would be.
Turns out our order wasn't put in, either the system was bugged or the waitress forgot. Even though they offered to put my order next, it would be another 15 minutes.
Quite a shame, I wouldn't recommend visiting on a Saturday morning, as they just don't seem to have enough capacity for all the visitors.
Hope your visit will be more pleasant than mine =)

Really nice place and food is really good. 2 of us from our group thought we'd try one of the drinks that sounded interesting....as it turned out, we didn't like it - which happens when you try something new. I went and paid for 2 more iced coffees. The manager or owner found out and came out and said that they're on the house and provided a good explanation as to why they weren't up to scratch (the avocados weren't quite right). We tried to say that we were more than happy to pay for them as we were trying something new but she wouldn't have a bar of it and took them off the bill. When we went to pay she then gave us 2 free coffees for next time. The customer service was top notch along with the food. Will be back.. :-)

Packed Weekend Brunch, this place is sunny, vibrant and colourful.

Nice decor with an open kitchen, we were quickly seated and given menus. We ordered a variety of dishes and one of the things that stood out to me straight away was the excellent portion sizes.

Although our meals took awhile to come out, our meals were tasty and visually ravishing.

Coffee was pretty good and I really enjoyed my dinning experience here. I look forward to coming back.

Showstopper: Chicken and Waffles.... Bloody amazing.

Overall Grade: B+

Been to Charlie and George cafe a few times now.. And it doesn't disappoint..
I had the blueberry waffles and my partner had the corned beef hash cakes..
The waffles were to die for and so fresh! -love that they come with a lemon curd!
My partner said the corned beef hash cakes were really good!
I would defiantly recommend this cafe to others..
Warning..this place gets very busy! So be prepared for a wait.. We were told of the wait as we sat down but didn't mind at all..

Love this cafe. Coffee group girls met with our babies and loved how baby friendly it was. Unfortunately service was poor on a not so busy Thurs afternoon, and we were dissapointed that there was no change table in the bathroom.. please sort this! Will return as food is divine ☺

wow - such inconsistency guys.. we had a marvelous experience here during Easter and thought we would come back for more awesome food. although at the time of ordering we were told that the kitchen was quite busy and would take about 30 minutes. Well.. we waited, waited, and waited and saw other tables who arrived after us had FINISHED their meal until we finally went to the counter and asked about our food. The lady said she would check at the kitchen (she didn't know? she took our order!) then would come out to let us know. Well, she did not. Instead it was another girl who came out after 5 mins and gave us the generic answer "sorry for the wait, your food will be ready in a few minutes." translation, "we've finally found your docket and are just making it now." This was one hour after ordering, had you gone fishing for our fish cakes? Finally when the food did come, the steak and chicken were overcooked, there was no sauce in the sandwich and the onion rings were soggy. This was completely different to what we experienced here last time. I can generally forgive bad management, but when the food is comprised because you are busy? that is not on!! I feel embarrassed having raved about this place now.

An emerging star in the ever popular area of stonefield. Great food, great coffee and some nicely made fresh smoothies. It gets really busy at the weekend.

Nice bright and pleasant. Went there with mum and dad at lunch time. We all enjoyed what we had. I had the steak sandwich, mum had a chicken salad and dad had fish cakes. Good portion sizes for lunch! It was very reasonably priced. I think their meals were less than $20 and mine was just on $20. The service was good. We were in a hurry as we had an appointment so it probably felt slower than it was. All the staff were polite and friendly even though obviously busy. I'd happily go back and try everything else on the menu.
Jessica Callistus
I really can't flaw this place! The food here is really well made and super fresh with ingredients that all work really well together! The staff here are also really nice and attentive. The place is in a nice area with a really cute theme throughout the cafe.

I had chicken and waffles and I really cannot flaw it. It was huge and only $19.50! The coffee is also nice and strong and on the table is coconut sugar to add.

This cafe is amazing!

Located in exclusive little stone fields, I didn't know what to expect. The place was absolutely packed and we were notified there would be a 40 minute wait. I have absolutely no problem with waiting as long as I am told about it so thanks guys!

We ordered the vege scramble and the blueberry waffles, and coffee.

Coffee was yummmmmm, kokako coffee which is always a hit.

Our food came in 25 minutes which we were pleasantly surprised with, considering how busy it was.

Vege scramble was DELICIOUS. Scrambled eggs with creamy mushrooms, feta and fresh chilli on sourdough. The balance was perfect and the serving was massive!

Blueberry waffles came with marscapone, blueberry syrup and lemon curd. Hands down best waffles I've ever had. Tasted like fresh soft blueberry muffins, melted in the mouth and it was huge!

Highly recommend :) can't wait to come back!

Busy little cafe on a Sunday morning. Place was packed and had to wait over 40 mins from ordering to getting food which is too long when you have a toddler. Eggs Bene was very tasty however not sure why they stack it, looks impressive but made it difficult to eat. Omelette was a little watery and too much feta. Overall I think the experience would have been much better if we had visited on a quieter day.

Went for brunch, was welcomed in by a friendly staff member and seated. I had a poached chicken salad which was large, fresh and had a lot of chicken in it. Very happy for $19. Cafe was very clean and tidy. Easy to find with lots of parking. If you can't tell I was very happy. Service is important to me and at all times the staff were friendly towards us. Looking forward to making it a local stopping point.

I used to go to University of Auckland Tamaki campus for my final year of optometry few years ago. And back then, there was literally nothing nearby. I mean LITERALLY NOTHING nearby. The only place we could go for coffee was either a franchise coffee that serves flatwhite in a boiling milk, or filter coffee at a nearby McDonald's.

However, when I went back to Uni few days ago, I found this lovely cafe. The atmosphere was great, staffs were friendly and the coffee was great.

I didn't feel that hungry so ended up only having a bagel with jam/cream cheese, but it was a good visit.

Have given this place multiple try's to see if they could improve on their shocking service. Food is ok but that is where it stops. Waiting an hour for a coffee is standard at this cafe. Cafe is in desperate need of a good manager to take charge and sort out the staff. Everytime you walk in to the cafe no one acknowledges your arrival and you stand there looking lost. When you do sit down because no one helps you only then do the staff come see you and tell you to move. Seems like they are trying to save a $ by not hiring good floor staff or training them up. This service is consistent everytime I visit. I would in fact welcome some feedback as to why this place is even busy? All I can imagine is lack of other cafes nearby?

Charlie and George is a cool and one of the few cafés in Stonefields. The place has a nice decoration and an welcoming open area, which really worths in summer.

If you're hungry you can find a lot of options in their menu, but if you're looking for a good coffee, that's really not the place. Mine was superhot and burned.
Frank
Full credit to this cafe in the heart of Stonefields which is supplying a much needed service to the cafe deprived residents of the surrounding massive housing project. This place was packed, and with real people as well, amateur diners like myself, which gives a sense of its down to earthiness. They have kitted out the interior in flashy orange stripes and contemporary branding which gives it the feel of an upmarket airport cafe. Service very friendly, coffee quite good, plenty of room (indoor and outdoor), some of the cabinet pastry items didn't wow unfortunately but overall I was impressed and would definitely stop in again if passing by!
The Guppy
A lot of attention to detail in this ethical consumption oriented cafe. Vege benedict was pretty near perfect. Loved it. Tried the Chemex single origin non-pressurised filter coffee out of curiosity. Was a little light for me flavour and caffeine-wise but the presentation was stunning (as with everything in the cafe).

Service was a real mixed bag. Very very friendly, lovey people, but not attentive. 10-15 minutes between being seated with a menu and any further attention from any of the staff who were passing regularly. They were busy-ish, but it only takes 5 seconds to say 'we'll be with you soon'. Similarly with food, no meal check and plate stayed on the table for a long time (I didn't mind that, but it was a sign that the staff didn't really have their eyes on their tables).

Anyway, the friendliness, presentation, great food and innovative thinking made this the place to finally get me to download zomato and write a review lol.
Good wifi connection too.
Highly recommended.

I had wanted to try this local-ish cafe since it was mentioned in Metro last year, turns out it took me an entire year. My partner and I visited on a reasonably busy Sunday but were seated immediately and orders taken quickly. The staff seemed attentive in the beginning but that is where it ended.

It was 15 to 20 minutes before the lemonade and smoothie were bought to the table. 30 minutes after ordering we realised none of the tables around us had food. Another 10 minutes went past and we asked a staff member, only to be told the food would be another 15 to 20 minutes away.

While we waited the table next to us were given free drinks, no such offer extended to us or other nearby tables. When the food finally arrived the Kawhai Fish Cakes looked and tasted good but the American Chicken Sandwich was one of the most disappointing dishes we have ever been served. Standard white bread, soft on the outside, toasted bread in the middle, very strange and served with about 4 long chips that looked like they had been overcooked in old oil.

I raised the waiting time when we went to pay and managed to get the lemonade free and the smoothie half price. They checked the receipt to see what time we ordered. I told the person at the counter they need to tell their customers if the wait on food is over 30 minutes, I felt dismissed.

This place looks good and the food sounds good but it is a big space where the staff wander around and don't really seem to do anything, they certainly don't keep the customers informed.
Dimitrios Konstantopoulos
very nice food. good selection of snacks and cooked meals.
BUT overpriced and you have to wait for ages even for a muffin.
they have to get this right because it is a nice spot with friendly staff and good food.
Why would you have to spend a fortune to enjoy?
Nadia Ansell
What I love about Charlie and George is that the produce is fresh, free range and healthy yet at the same time it tastes sinful! I wish every cafe had the same ethics, we are what we eat so we don't want to be fast or cheap and these guys prove that it doesn't have to be any more expensive to be good! I am not normally a muesli person but the house bircher muesli is to die for and my all time favourite is the bacon butty! I could list all the amazing things I have eaten here but it would be easier to say nothing I have ever ordered has been a dissapointment.
Sheena
I ordered the poached eggs with corned beef and agria hash with spicy tomato hollandaise sauce. Such a simple dish and every component had its own flavour. Last time I ordered the mushrooms on toast and it just hit the spot for my mushroom on toast craving. I also managed to get the caffeinator smoothie which they only do in limited portions. It's a mixture of coffee, caramel, almond milk, avocado and lsa. I'm a smoothie connesuier and it didn't hit the spot for me so i got the banoffee one which was also too liquidey for my liking. The staff are friendly but they always seem to be short staffed. Nice little hipster type cafe trying to find it's feet. This place is always packed so it's good to get in early. I will probably be a regular here the food is fresh, simple and amazing.

Cool funky place with a bright deco, menu included some gluten free options- staff were friendly and really attentive.
Delicious Kokako coffee!
I'm giving this place 5 fir my experience. We had big breakfast, a berry smoothie and a coffee. The service was fast and very friendly. The place itself is new and very welcoming. Their mushrooms are especially delicious, will definitely come back.
Went to try this cafe first time...absolutely superb service and coffee was really nice & hot. We ordered American sandwich and steak sandwich which was huge meals. Nothing major about the food or may be just wrong choices. But other than that everything else was fantastic. Will definitely return and try other things from cabinet.

First of all, i want to commend the quick, efficient and friendly service the staff provided today :)

My partner ordered the bacon egg benedict and enjoyed it - he also said his coffee was good. I wasn't too hungry so I ordered the date slice and was pleased with it. It was crunchy, sweet and very enjoyable. On the other hand, my mocha wasn't the greatest. It tasted more like a hot chocolate
>:(

The waffles caught my eye- definitely have to come back to try it out :)

I love this place. I have been few times for breakfast and for coffee. Try out a cold brew coffee. Loved the big breakfast here. Great service too.

I'm being quite generous giving this place a 3, considering the terrible service that I experienced. I came here for brunch with a friend on a Friday at 11am, and we waited for 10minutes to be seated even though the cafe wasn't too busy. We ended up seating ourselves and had to wave out to a waitor to get menus. We then had to wait another 20mins to order as people that came after us in the cafe we attended to first (um hello?)...
We ordered a chai latte (which came out in 10mins), a salmon benedict and the berry compote waffles. We waited for another 40 minutes for our food to end up being told they had run out of waffle batter but then we saw people who arrived after us get waffles?? We had to get pancakes instead of the waffles which came out slightly undercooked because they were rushed. Apart from this as we were extremely hungry, the food was good. But for the price you pay I was expecting better from this cafe overall.
The manager gave my friend and I free coffee cards as compensation... however I doubt that I will ever come back even if the food was good.

The best ugly bagel was good as usual.
The iced chocolate tasted like cold sugar water.
Their fries were good too but tasted too much like roasted potatoes to be called fries.
I unfortunately didn't get to try any coffee though
Came across this place after shopping on Lunn Ave, very glad that I did! This place is exactly what Mt. Wellington needed. It is what I would call 'Instagram-worthy' (as you can see in the pictures included) The staff are most likely the friendliest human beings on the planet, no joke. The food comes pretty quickly and the drink selection is primo 👌🏼 I had the open steak sandwich and it was the most pricey item on the menu at $20, which means this place is very well priced! Big portions and fresh, handmade food. I give this two thumbs up 😋

Great cafe with some good people and awesome vibes. Very busy on a Saturday but there were plenty of seats as long as you don't mind being abit close to other diners. I actually loved the relaxed atmosphere of this place.

The coffee here is amazing, the chemex is an unique pick for coffee lovers! Everything came abit slower than cafe speed but understandable as it was very busy.

Food was pleasant, great seasoning and very generous servings. Only thing that I couldn't fully enjoy were the eggs, they were quite dry and tough. Both the omelet and the scrambled eggs were the same. Fluffy soft eggs are my personal preference so I just didn't enjoy the food as much as I expected to. The pancakes were amazing though!

Overall, this is a great place to hang out with friends and family

A fantastic hip cafe in the new Stonefields development, with a great "bring your kid, bring your dog" kind of vibe. Lots of tables inside and out, perfect for a summer day. Their coffees are great but their smoothies are so so good. They have a wild selection of food from the cabinet, including slices and berliners and panini's. I always go for their corned beef agria hash with poached eggs and chilly lime hollandaise off the menu, but that's just me.. Delicious!

Hmmm. Second time around here. Had open steak sandwich. Requested a medium rare. But that was medium or more. Anyways. The fries were cold. Onion rings though were awesome. Relish is really nice.the bread was beautiful. But ask a meal it was average. Had a trim flat white to go which was really week n felt like regular milk. Excellent location ans setup. Busy place. But pretty average food. It's turning into a victim of its own success.

I heard so many good things about this cafe and I was so excited to try.. but I was completely disappointed with my order .. first I ordered the eggs benedict with salmon unfortunately for me they sold out of salmon which is completely fine because to me obviously it must be so good for it to sell out. So I had the poached chicken salad.. it was actually very small portion and flavorless.. there was barely any chicken (refer to photo.. what you see is all the chicken you get approx. 3x bite size pieces) let alone salad.. nothing was seasoned ... and it was actually quite dry... it was a $19 salad so I had above average expectations..well at the very least average... but certainly did not deliver either ... based on the salad alone I would've rate it a 0.5 but I did enjoy my time there because of the company (of my bestfriend) & service was okay. I would suggest requesting one of the most popular meals and go from there... I would not recommend or buy the poached chicken salad again. Flavorless, dry, barely any chicken, let alone salad all out disappointment.

Came on a busy morning, tables were full and takeaway queue was long. The place was hectic and the wait was long but the food was worth the wait. We ordered pancakes and big breakfast. The pancake looked ordinary but it was very nice and fluffy. The big breakfast was indeed very big and filling. Staff was friendly. We decided we wanted to go back to try the lunch menu already.

Very good experience I had the other day for brunch at Charlie & George. The set up of the cafe is different but a nice vibrant feel to it. Not as full when we first arrived but was almost full to capacity when we were leaving close to lunch time. I love Kokako coffee so I knew the coffee would be great here and indeed it was. They delivered one of the best, if not the best, Blueberry Waffles I've had! Great work guys. Will definitely be back.
RVEH
The set up is cool, the food is average - good, (the banoffee smoothies (made from all healthy stuff) and the portobello mushrooms are my favourites), but the customer service is definitely the best thing about this place.

Highly recommend.

C&G is amazing as always. Friendly staff and the food was delish. We ordered the pea risotto and chicken salad. Everything was so tasty and we'll presented. They are very child friendly.
Cristine Manalo
The service, atmosphere and most importantly the food and drinks were pretty good! I didn't order the most exciting thing on the menu (scrambled eggs on turkish bread) however they were able to make this simple dish just the way I liked it. My partner ordered the egg white omelete (not the most exciting thing either) but it had this surprising filling inside which we think was cream cheese or some kind of cheese and it just gave the omelette so much more taste! Looking at the orders around us, we kind of regretted not getting the pancakes or the corn waffles and chicken cause they looked divine! Definitely returning to this place to try these two dishes. Despite the place being busy the whole time we were there, the service was great, our waitress didn't for get us and got out of her way to get us a table inside cause it was pretty chilly! Their smoothies were also pretty good too, we tried the berry smoothie and their signature smoothie, the caffeinator (had avocado and coffee!!! sounds weird but it was nice!). I definitely would recommend to try this place out east!

The food is great, can't flaw it! The staff however are marginal, have never experienced anything above sub-par service. It's good, and worth a try however for me personally it's nothing to write home about.

Met here with our bloggers club and the place was fantastic. The owner was so freaking friendly - which I was surprised at because the place was mega packed and she still had a smile on her face. Bonus points.

I ordered the chicken salad and wasn't disappointed. Very generous helping, and delicious too.

My only gripe was that I was directly in the sun getting a mega sweat on. Not the cafe's fault, as it was sunny. But I dreamed a magical umbrella would come out and protect me from the hot burning ball in the sky. Couldn't move from my seat as the place was packed to the rafters.

I've been here a few times now, and in a word I can describe Charlie & George as pleasant. Each time I have come it has been fairly busy, which is always a good sign. The interior and atmosphere are awesome, and the staff are super friendly.

For me the food lets this place down. First let me say that there isn't anything particularly wrong with the food choice. I've had the fish cakes, buttermilk pancakes, and most recently the BLAT, which were all fine... But nothing spectacular that makes me want to keep coming back. Additionally, the menu hasn't really changed since my first visit over year ago... Which is disappointing - it's exciting to try new things!

Charlie & George isn't too far from where I live so it's a good choice if you want to go somewhere not too far from Eastern Suburbs. However if proximity weren't a factor it wouldn't be my absolute first choice.

Someones I try to find a cafe that serves something different than other cafes. Today Charlie and George did just that, where their menu was luckily enough to tickle my fancy.

Corned Beef and Agria Hash was just that and freshly baked counterfood. Food was good, but not overly outstanding but certainly was worth travelling across town to try this place out.

Though I would say, if you were in the area and am looking for some decent cafe food, then I would suggest you give this place a try. Otherwise, you are better off finding somewhere local.

Please check out my website for an indepth review.

Charlie & George is a super hip and modern cafe. The ambience is relaxing and oozing with a hipster theme.
The staff are happy and approachable.
We ordered the Bacon Benedict and Chicken Burger with fries to eat ; and Banofee and Berry Power Smoothie to drink. The food looked gorgeous and heaving with sauce. My bacon was crispy and the eggs were poached soft with an oozing yolk and generous portion of Benedict sauce. It was delicious. The chicken burger was succulent and the chipotle sauce made all the difference.
Their smoothies are amazing, they're definitely pricey but the quality is there. They don't skimp on the flavour.
Overall the food, service and atmosphere is amazing they're just pricey.

Worst cafe experience ever! We waited at least half hour for coffee and nearly an hour for our meal. We mentioned to the lady that such a long wait for coffee is outrageous. Instead of simply appolgising she was very defensive. Being busy is not an excuse to drop your standard of service. My advice to anyone who goes to this cafe and sees it being busy is to turn around and walk away..The food and service here is definitely not worth the wait.

Previously a quarry, the Stonefields development hasn't just provided Aucklanders with more housing, we've scored a new brand new cafe too!

Rebecca McRobie is the proud new owner of Charlie & George Cafe which turns out to be named after her two sons.

Thanks to the floor-to-ceiling glass windows this cafe space is light and bright. With a refreshing pop of orange against minimalistic white walls, this industrial styled cafe invites you into a modern community space.

From Best Ugly Bagels to Blueberry Waffles, C&G Cafe have you sorted. Worth mentioning is the coffee. I ordered a flat white today and was really impressed. Maybe it was the organic Kokako beans they brew with?

I was also told that everything in the cabinet is made right from scratch from the kitchen behind it which ensures you receive fresh housemade foods.

I thought the menu was good - a lot of different options to suit everyone's tastes. I also liked the interior and exterior of the space but I thought the cafe lacked atmosphere. Maybe this is due to its relatively large size.

Our orders were taken promptly and our food didn't take long to come out at all which was great but we felt slightly rushed by the staff and the food presentation wasn't top-notch.

I would go back to try it out again. Maybe to order the chicken and corn waffle dish - a popular choice it seemed.

Sarah Reynolds #challenge

After seeing this place rated 5/5 in the canvas magazine I had to check it out! Situated in the Stonefields complex I feel lucky to have it close by.

The cafe is nicely setup with quirky touches scattered throughout. With lots of natural light and sun they offer indoor and outdoor seating. The cabinet food looked just as good to those listed on the menu so there's plenty to choose from. The service was pleasant and friendly.

My friend and I ordered the Blueberry waffles and Vege scramble. The three stack of waffles were thick and light but we found them a tad dry, luckily the berry and lemon curd side sauces helped. The Vege scramble was very tasty and just the right size. The mushroom, chilli, and feta were a very nice addition to the usual eggs on toast.

The cafe was packed during our time there so you'll have to be quick to snatch a table. Next time I'll be back to try the lunch menu!

Busy place but really good food. I had the buttermilk pancakes, so fluffy and so big, it was a struggle to finish them! So very worth it though. Blueberry waffles also looked amazing, very light, thick and fluffy. Cabinet food also looked spectacular. Definitely will go back.

Met a friend for lunch here during the week and it was packed! The cabinet food is awesome and reasonably priced, I had a gourmet ham and cheese sandwich, coffee and carrot cake for $18.50. My friend had the creamy mushrooms and was very impressed. Good ambience and attentive staff, although one waitress looked as though she was having a bad day! Lots of mums with babies and strollers which I love, although it made it very crowded and I'm not sure I would turn up here with my own coffee group. Overall a great experience and I will be back.

T/A coffee orders ~15mins+ the last few times I have been there, not acceptable when you need a coffee on the run in a rush to work ... Food is average, could make the eggs benedict at home better!

We had breakfast here and enjoyed the experience, the food was satisfying and service was reasonably fast. First experience here and would come back again

It's now become our local! The food is well prepared and yummy. Good prices, good service, a very large selection of food, and this cafe is even baby friendly. Highly recommended.

Came here with kids on Saturday morning. Very busy (mainly take away coffees for the netball crowd across the road). Surprisingly for a table by the window.
Coffee great and the iced chocolate my son ordered was utterly divine.
I had the corned beef and agria hash which was great although the poached eggs were just a touch overdone (I like them really runny).
Daughter had blueberry waffles with two sauces (lemon and blueberry) which she demolished and pronounced fantastic
Son had bacon and eggs bap which was apparently "OK" whatever that means in 10 year old speak - there was nothing left on the plate!
Busy, bustling, good service, great coffee, and good food - definitely try the iced chocolate!
Great food, amazing breakfast. Staff great, although it did take awhile to get our food. Went in later in the day for a coffee, we got asked to leave after the cleaned up around us and closed the doors at 3... First time I've ever been asked to leave a cafe... This was annoying, but the smoothies are amazing so I still went back :/

Had the brioche roll which was OK. The flat white was good (strength without bitter aftertaste) except that the milk wasn't frothed to the right temperature so it was a bit flat.

First time here; we just happened to stumble into it as we were driving around in the neighbourhood., and thank god we did.

It was fully packed on a saturday morning but was able to be seated within a few minutes.

We had the creamy mushrooms on toast and the corned beef agria hash; both were well portioned, delicious and presented well. Had the banoffee smoothie and latte, both nice.

Came to just over $45. Pricey but thought definitely worth it. Would recommend it if in the neighbourhood.
Table For Two
We went to this cafe with friends on a Sunday morning around 10am & it was packed we got lucky and didn't have to wait for a table!Despite being so busy the staff were attentive and accommodating - our friends brought their 18mth old and they brought out food for him as soon as it was ready as requested.

He said: I ordered poached eggs on toast which was good but had major food envy of the Corned Beef & Agria Hash

She said: Had the Buttie - enjoyed the Buttie

Will be back to try the Hash!

Busy little place right by the netball courts in Mt Wellington. Blueberry waffles and ham & Swiss panini were delicious. Smoothie wasn't the best, looked good but had no taste and small coffees. Food 4/5, drinks 3/5, service 4/5.

I've been to Charlie and George's multiple times and it's been inconsistent. Yesterday I went for breakfast and ordered eggs Benedict with salmon. It was underseasoned but the eggs well cooked. My coffee arrived about halfway through my eggs benny and it was pretty average. This morning I went and ordered a 2 coffees, they were extremely busy so I knew I was in for a wait. However, when you see people who ordered well after you, walking out with their coffees... Kinda frustrating. Lucky, one of the waiters noticed and found out that our order was forgotten. Finally, got our order only to get a luke warm and rather milky coffee. Last straw for me, I'll go spend my money somewhere else.

I live rather close to Charlie and George and when i first tried this place out, i feel in love. Came back so many times and still love it. They have big serving for their price and Green smoothie is a must for me. Their open steak sandwich is my fav. Also the bagels are delicious!

Been here a couple of times, love the atmosphere and deco of this place which makes it family friendly. Every time, I come here is on weekend and it is really busy all the time and they seem to be under staff as well. The waiter and waitress are nice but seem to always forget to bring the coffee first after my order and each time there is a bit of wait for my brunch and I have to remind them about my coffee hasn't arrived yet. They have a good variety of food but seems it's not consistent, some days were good and some days weren't that good and apparently it was a day I was bringing a few of my friends over there and recommended them but turn out to be a disappointment as even Blueberry Waffles that I ordered was served to me burnt. I hope they improve the service and have consistent food taste, I am keen to go there again.
Bobby Anderson
Nice cafe with good seating area. staff were attentive and friendly.

Eggs Benny had a nice hollandise sauce, the texture was just right without being too buttery.

Next time I'd opt for their range of salad from the cabinet.

Decor resembles a typical modern cafe. Ordered the pancakes, sadly disappointed with 3 layers of giant sized thick dry blandness. If not for my $5 side of bacon, be almost inedible. Better off having pancakes from McDonalds. Also, $20.50 for pancakes and bacon is expensive.

We ordered:
Pancakes: 1/5
Corned beef Agria hash: 3/5
Eggs benedict: 2/5 hollandaise tasteless
Blueberry waffles: 1/5 waffles were burnt?

Service: 4/5 their only saving grace was the friendly staff and good service

Food: 1.5/5 seeing as many other reviews seem positive, perhaps we came on a bad day
Ambience: 3/5 nice suburban cafe
Overall: 2.5/5 expensive for not great food. Would not go back again.

My boyfriend and i went there for our Sunday brunch. We knew it would be busy as it was the top 10 cafes in auckland and it was on a sunday aswell, but we didnt know it would be that busy that it took 1 and a half hour for the food to come.!Although from the start the waiter told us that there will be a 40 mins wait on food. I got the egg benedict and my boyfriend got the hotdog. Both the food was delicious and the pricing was reasonable. The staff was nice and very helpful. We didn't get angry or annoyed because it took that long, as we knew they were super busy and we understand how hard it would be if everyone is wanting to order food, find tables, and waiting for their food and theres only limited staffs. But overall despite the wait on food, it was great and would definitely come back
Zoe Yzendoorn
The positive vibes from the cafe really shine through! I went on a saturday after netball so the wait was 45 minutes long which was blimmin annoying! I only ordered the drinks which were a winner! I got the Banoffee smoothie which was hella good! The only annoying thing was near the bottom of the drink it went all icy like frozen cokes which was a tad bit frustrating but other then that really nice cafe!
Lady K
We tried something new this time!
I ordered BLAT bagel as usual (which i still love it ) while my hubby ordered the creamy mushroom instead of his favorite egg Benedict ~
My mum tried his creamy mushroom and was impressed by it... she said the sour dough based is great and the mushroom is so tasty as well!
Mandy
Love! LOVE! Charlie & George have amazing coffee and great vibe! I ordered the salmon bagel which was amazing, however I didn't like how the cream cheese was spread for me by the chefs. There was a heavy layer which I had to scrape off. It's a cafe that's always pumping and staff are busy which is good and bad but I didn't mind running up tot the counter to ask for more of their delicious coffee! Although it would've been easier if our waitress had just asked me when she collected our plates rather than rushing off in a second...
JJJiiiiAn
The interior design is very nice! The creamy mushroom was so disappointing. $18.50 was a okay price for the mushroom, but the dish was dry and plain, creamy mushroom should be creamy!! Not much cream there.. I also ordered the mushroom with avocado on side. I was amazed by the 'generous' portion of the avocado, it took me 5 seconds to finish it, oh no... And they charged the sides for $4.5 ~ $4.5 for that ? Really?? Really! I had to drive to new world to get 2 avocados to satisfied my stomach afterwards. Overall, no good.
OJM
Just had breakfast here very disappointing, coffee took 20 minutes, then we waited almost an hour for our food which was delivered almost cold. Finally when I went to pay they over charged me and couldn't find our bill. Appreciate they were very busy but 1.5 hours for breakfast is pretty shocking service, don't think we'll be back.
Peachypanda
We've been here a few times and our experiences has generally been pretty good until recently. Brunch on the weekend is always a busy time, but the service is always impeccable. The food and coffee on my most recent visit was a huge disappointment. The coffee was weak until the point of tasting like warmed milk and the food was seemingly doused in salt. I managed to get through half of my creamy mushrooms before giving up due to dry mouth, whereas my partner's eggs bene was great tasting with fresh salmon & perfect eggs and only a slight layer of added salt on top. Would potentially go back but I'll know now to ask for no salt next time.
Jonathan Towers
I had brunch with 5 people today there today on the 24th of April 20015, "I want to say the owner just knows how to make people feel special, but not only that the food is amazing... Just amazing... .. If you want to have one of the best breakfasts in auckland... this place is a must try...

Love this cafe! They offer delish smoothies- abes bagels with salmon ( me and salmon have a special kind of relationship) my miss 3 can colour in and have a cup cake- plus great spot in the sun will continue to come here after my monthly nail visit

Charlie & George is a contemporary glass-box full of familial happiness in the middle of modern residential suburbia; Stonefields. There are high chairs available, kids drawings on the walls, playful neon signage and crayons galore. I felt like I was intruding an under 5s tea party where my invite had gotten lost in the mail. It's awfully cute and transcends a joyful vibe, until thus crying baby disrupts the tranquility of my lemon and ginger tea. Anyhow, the the pea risotto was pleasantly yum, though oil saturation level 100 and the extra side of bacon was a tad too salty, measely and tough. However the banofee smoothie was mind-blowing; probably one of the best smoothies I've consumed at a cafe and a must do if you're pit stopping through the burbs.

This is a really nice, fresh open plan style cafe tucked into the Stonefields market block. Simple, bright decor. Best Ugly BLT bagel was on the menu and I'm told was yummy. The waffles were quite thick and very filling and we're just like pancakes. I chose the waffles because they were on the menu with a lemon curd that I would imagine would taste delicious with the berry sauce. They did tell me that they had run out of lemon curd (it was 9am on tues) when I ordered but I thought I'd give it a go. The substitute was maple syrup so it was all quite sweet. I will come back some day and look forward to trying the lemon curd.

Went there this morning for a couple of coffees and donuts ... place was fairly full a good sign I thought... ordered it to go , nice girl took the cash ... then I waited and waited and waited and yes waited for a long black and a trim flat white after 20 minutes I got them .
Staff making coffee were so slow it's frightening
Take a book you will need it
Amy @ My Dining Journey
There are limited choices when it comes to finding a good suburban cafe around the Mt Wellington and Panmure area, so when they developed the Stonefields market and the subsequent eateries, I welcome Charlie and George with open arms.
The Incredible Edible
You have to get the Banoffee smoothie we love it

This Cafe is family friendly and great for locals.
This is the second time we have been here. We ordered the eggs benedict, the big breakfast and the smoked trevally fish cakes.
If you're a cafe serving breakfast/brunch you have to do a good hollandaise sauce and they did.
The big breakfast wasn't anything special however if just feel like everything then it's perfect
The trevally fish cakes were nice, if you like potatoes then this is great for you. I thought there was not enough fish to potato ratio.

I will definitely go back for the Banoffee smoothie

Charlie & George is situated in a little block of shops in the Stonefields suburb in Auckland. I love the set up of the shops and I hope Auckland gets more of these types of blocks!

I came to Charlie & George in a big group of people and children. We pre-ordered our meals and some drinks before heading along because we were such a big group. When we arrived for our booking time it was really busy, but not crazy chatoic. The cafe is large has a great indoor-outdoor flow. We were sat inside in the sun, and I was a little sad we weren't outside on the beautiful outside tables, when I come back i'll definitely nab one of those ones! The decor of C&G is modern, stylish and fresh. I really liked the feel of the cafe. It reminds me of the new Sierra cafe out fits, but better.
I really loved their terrarium table number pots too - I wish I could've snapped one of those up and taken it home.

Our food and drinks came out really quick considering the size of the kitchen (which you can see from your tables, love this) and the fact the cafe was full of other punters. All of the food and drink were presented beautifully. I got the BLAT bagel and a Long Black. The bagel was delicious and had the perfect amount of everything on it. The coffee was strong and good, and came out on a cool little platter.

I didn't get to taste anyone else's food, but everyone was raving about how good it was - their hot chips looks so so good. If you are after a kid-friendly, full on cafe for your brunch or lunch then I would definitely recommend coming here.

Fantastic local cafe with heaps of small treats to choose from! Many healthy and organic options to choose from! Coconut sugar is on most tables ☺️

Charlie & George Cafe is situated in the heart of Stonefields. Had the BLT Bagel which was ok, nothing special but a good place to go for your Sunday brunches with the kids or just a coffee during the week with some friends for a catch up. Simple, good food.
Flowergirl69
Great local cafe in a new setting. We had Green Goddess juices served in preserving jars - tasted good. Lovely smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels with capers and salad. The fish cakes and corn fritters looked enticing - will try next time. Coffee looked good and the place was buzzing. Lucky locals.
Louise
Great food in a beautiful, modern setting. I always judge a cafe by their Eggs Benedict, so that's what I ordered the first time I went. It was absolutely delicious and a decent portion too. One downside for me is that they don't have wifi or places to plug in, which is a bit of a pain for me as I like to work in cafes. But the most important things are the food and the service, which they've totally nailed.

A Sunday morning breakfast in a close by cafe to home..Decor was cute..retro and very kid friendly. Extremely busy ..owner is very pleasant.. Probably the best cafe in Mt Wellington so far and has hit the right location with the new subdivision next to it at Stonefields.
Parking is easy. Extremely long wait for breakfast for two..when we arrived it was hard to find a seat at 10.30am. Pricing was a little too high for food that was pretty good but not fabulous.

There are limited choices when it comes to finding a good suburban cafe around the Mt Wellington and Panmure area, so when they developed the Stonefields market and the subsequent eateries, I welcome Charlie and George with open arms.

Food: With a good selection of food at Charlie and George, we were spoilt for choice when it comes to ordering our meal. They have a selection of breakfast and lunch dishes and a handful of vegetarian choices as well as dishes that caters for the gluten free and dairy free.

Coffee: Charlie and George serves certified Fairtrade organic coffee, roasted by Kokako. You can order drinks from the espresso machine or try the bottled cold brew. Apparently they also do Chemex coffee but on the two occasions that I asked, they were sold out! They also offer a selection of juice, tea, smoothie and bottled cold beverages.

Price: Well priced. breakfast around $13, lunch $18 and coffee $4.5

Location and Parking: Located in Stonefields Market, they have plenty of car parks for their customers. It’s a little hidden if you are not familiar with the area.

Dining Experience: Coming in on a late Saturday morning, the place was already busy with people that were wanting brunch. The place was still buzzing when we left at 1PM. We were very lucky to get a table! Service was friendly and they come and take your order. I like the decor and ambience. Very kid friendly with colouring pages and buckets of chalk outside.

Amazing service and surrounding - very family friendly. Great lunch menu from the cabinet. Hv eaten here a few times - breakfast pancakes we're stodgy; don't like the coffee at all, but the location, ambiance & service make up for it.
Love their buffalo fries!!!
How spoilt are we to be able to have Charlie and George as our local! Not a week goes by where we don't enjoy the great food fantastic service and the best coffee on offer! They nail it everytime. The home made pies are a family fav but personally it's the afghans I can never go past! Love taking friends and family down when they come to stay. Hands down best cafe in Auckland!
Denise
We were disappointed with lunch yesterday. Fair enough there was very little cabinet food being a Wednesday but no one greeted us. We had to ask for menus, ask what the soup was and ask if breakfast was still available. The egg and bacon butties were fine but had been left at the chef's station too long, the soup was very ordinary. It was leek and potato but had no thickness and not even garnished. We got the impression that the wait staff were not interested in looking after us. The redeeming person was the barista who cleared our table and made us good coffees.
Jasmine Budel
Charlie and George used to be our favourite weekend lunch/ brunch spot as it's child friendly, good food and service. Recently their service has really dropped which is very disappointing. Ordered a banoffee smoothie which took half an our to come out and it had no caramel. The missing caramel was not mentioned although it was definitely noticed. Also ordered a side of fries which never arrived but we were charged for. The standard of the food has also dropped. It seems they can't quite handle the popularity and rush of the weekend diners. I really hope they find a way to overcome this as there are no good (well not anymore) cafés in the area
Harry Misselbrook
I've been here a few times now and it is always excellent. The menu is extensive and changes frequently and there is always a great mix of classic breakfast and lunch dishes as well as tasty quirkier ones. The food is beautiful, well-priced and quick to cme out. The coffee is great and the service is excellent. The staff are always friendly and professional and there's no waiting around for someone to take your order or bring water to the table. Excellent setting and interior as well.

Been to Charlie & George Cafe half a dozen times now and it's great to see a suburban cafe finding its feet! Each visit has been better than the last, the food is lovely, the coffee Kokako is always good and the service is friendly and really helpful. Love that the staff know the menu well and make helpful suggestions is a bonus! Also enjoy that they use familiar brands - Freedom Farms, Loaf and Kokako to name a few. Wonderful.

This morning I decided to try Charlie & George Cafe for the first time as it is down the road from where I work.

Wow! Gob-smacked & stunned at the great customer service I received as they helped me resolve an issue I had. The food delicious & yummy, good coffee - this place also looks great to dine in & I will definitely be returning to do so - going to spread the word :) Love it, like it, you should try it :)!

Went for lunch with a work colleague. The interior deco and ambience was impressive for a very unassuming lil cafe in Mount Wellington. Service was good, coffee was yum, but the food was so-so. We both ordered the fish potato cake which was average tasting and pretty scant for an expensive $18 dish.
Rachel Firth
Went to a great cafe last weekend. Charlie and George in stonefields Auckland. Being Coeliac I had a million questions, they were so patient and answered them graciously. They could confirm their quinoa parfait had no traces of gluten. And the chef had changed where they source the seeds from to be 100 %gf. It was delicious and so nice to be able to have a lovely type of oat free granola out. my friend had eggs on gf toast the bread was divine.
Stuart Whitney
I've been to the cafe a couple of times now and whilst it's great to have it there and the fit out and coffee are excellent (I haven't tried the food yet but it looks good), the service is really slow.

They just don't seem to have a good system and the barista can't cope with the demand on the busy Sunday mornings when we have been there. We've also noticed that orders keep getting delivered to wrong tables or not sent out at all.

I hope they can overcome this but they need to do some work on their service, friendly as though the staff are.
Liza McNally
We've been to Charlie & George a couple of times now and have loved it each time. Great coffee and food from the breakfast and lunch menu has been delicious - ricotta pancakes and the fish cakes. The winner though is the hummingbird cake with yoghurt on the side. Friendly staff and quality fit out as well. We'll be back.
Kim Culpan
My daughters and I were really looking forward to Sunday brunch at Charlie & George as they have been watching building progress on the way to swimming lessons. We went late Sunday morning, clearly at the same time as everyone else in the neighbourhood! We found a table straight away and the girls quickly got busy colouring in. There was a short wait for service and food but nothing more than you would expect at any busy cafe on a Sunday morning. The food was delicious and the pancakes were rated "the best thing I have ever eaten." Looking forward to our next visit.
Richard Percy
First time to try the new cafe at Stonefields- Sunday around 12.30- and unfortunately a very poor experience.
Very busy- long line of customers- and lack of focus to try and serve them.

No table service - looks like students for staff- not interested in helping to serve, clean tables and require a lot more training.

Ended up leaving as no one was interested or looked in charge.

Appreciate that it is new but one would have thought that they would expect the weekend to be busy and would have been better prepared

Will need to improve greatly.
Biddy O\'Keefe
Myself and my partner went to this cafe today, Sunday. It was extremely busy but we were fortunate enough to get a table immediately. I was still expecting to have to wait to get served, but straight away a staff member came over to get our coffee order. Shortly afterwards a different staff member came over and took our food order. Our coffees would have arrived within 5 minutes and our meals within 10 minutes which was really impressive, considering they were rushed off their feet. Everything was absolutely divine and we can't wait to return to try something different. The only downside was we would have liked to have lingered longer in such a cool atmosphere but people were waiting for tables so we thought it only fair to relinquish our table and let them see what the hype is about. We will be back. This week!

Been to the cafe twice now, the first time I popped in the on the way to work to grab a coffee and a cronut. Awesome coffee and the cronuts are to die for!!!

Went for breakfast this morning, had the coconut porridge with caramelised banana - dreaaaam!! so delicious.

The coffee, again, was perfect!

I have yet to try the cabinet food, but it all looks so delicious and everything is really well priced!

Finally, a beautifully created and delicious food cafe in the area!!
Angela S
Awesome new cafe! Love the interior design and the food and coffee were great. We had a burger and fish cakes they were both really good. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere this will be a our new local.
Liz Winstone
Very impressed with the menu here at 'Charlie and George'.
I popped in for my first cuppa coffee, which, while quite little for its pricetag, was very good.
I had a most delicious choc-iced afghan on the side - which for $3.50 was the perfect four-bite size - I liked that it was not oversized!

The menu, which I'll have to sample another day, was very impressive, with its thoughtfulness towards sustainable, free-range, etc. Particularly the Trevally fish-cakes popped out to me as the dish I will be back to try (a great not-overfished option - so I was really impressed to see the thought that went into this choice of species).
Kokako coffee, along with the other quite local and ethical producers where possible will suit our wee Stonefields community well.

Thank you for bringing such a well-researched and thoughtfully stocked cafe to the neighbourhood!
Gerry Nathan
A fantastic new cafe, serving Kokako coffee and delicious food. Our table enjoyed the risotto, tuna melt and the fish cakes and I would highly recommend all three dishes. This is such a great addition to the Stonefields area, the owners have clearly put a lot of thought into the design of the cafe and the service was outstanding!
Jennifer Wright
We enjoyed our first visit to the new local spot, Charlie & George Cafe. Fabulous coffee, wonderful service and great ambience.
I will definitely be going back for the food that we saw being served!!!! It looked delicious.

Best big breakfast!!!

Charlie and George is a decent sized, family friendly cafe out East Auckland. The interior is bright and their menu extensive. I started with the banoffe smoothie which was awesome, really tasty without being too sweet. I also ordered a ham and spring onion omlette. Very filling and the toast on the side was delicious.

Fraser ordered the big breakfast and that look delicious. They have colouring pages with crayons on each table so we spent some time colouring in too! :) the staff were excellent, very very friendly. I really appreciate on their menu they list where they source their locally produced items.
Rice & Kai
Charlie & George is the first cafe in Stonefields Market . The interior of the place is nice and bright. It’s family friendly with plenty of room for us to manoeuvre and station the pram without tripping anyone up. If you have older children, there was a bucket of chalk placed outside and children were happily scribbling on the concrete. Hubby ordered the banoffee smoothie (which was really good and something you must try if you love banoffee pie) and the Best Ugly Bagel which came with marinated heirloom tomato, avocado, cream cheese and pesto. He also ordered a side of fries which were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I ordered the lemongrass and ginger tea, which was lovely and strong, and the corned beef and agria hash. This was hearty and rich, with the hollandaise sauce (although not spicy as the menu stated) being the right mix of creaminess and sharpness. It would have been improved with a small green salad on the side I think – it needed something to cut through all the richness.
We enjoyed our visit. The food was good, the ambience lovely and the service was excellent. We will definitely be back.
