Review Miyuki - Auckland

Ms_Eternal _Traveller.
Food was excellent, shared platters with friends. Service was attentive and not intrusive. Quiet atmosphere for talking and catching up. Really enjoyed it !

Lovely local Japanese restaurant in Howick. Lots of parking nearby. Best to book ahead. Excellent atmosphere and outdoor seating has a gas fire to keep you warm. Food is delicious and plenty of choices. Definitely need an entree with the main. Attention: The main entrance door "Slides" to the side (Maybe a sign could be helpful)

Had a great experience here. Visited on impulse late at night just after training and the staff was happy to seat us even though we had on our uniforms and it was close to closing time. Had the karaage chicken, prawn skewers, pork belly skewers and egg chicken katsu all of which was very tasty and affordable. I recommend the pork belly skewers they were so good.
Karl Rock
Incredible fresh Japanese food. One of the best restaurants in Howick. They did nearly overcharge us by $200, so always double check your bill.

Tasty food, portion size is on the smaller side so for most people I think you will need an entree and main at a minimum and maybe a dessert as well. Can make eating here on the pricey side depending on the entree you go with - our last visit came to about $30 per person. Been here a couple of times, no issues in the first visit but the latest visit in Nov 2020 with my Wife and friend had a long wait for food. We all ordered entrees at the same time but they came out one at a time, the first and second entree came out within a couple of minutes of each other but the third was a good 15-20 minutes after the second. Had to ask to make sure they hadn't forgotten the last entree! If not for this would have given 5 stars. The mains came out in reasonable time and together so no issue there. The food itself is great! Fresh, tasty and certainly would recommend!

First time here and had a lunch. Love their atmosphere clean and tidy and classic. We took 1. Curry chicken katsu Fried chicken really yum and curry is also good 2. Aburi Salmon don Great taste It would be perfect if more souce in it personally not enough which is reason mark 4 stars. Overall, will definitely visit and try others.

Excellent selection of Japanese cuisine. delicious food. My only negative would be it lacks a little atmosphere maybe some music would help? Will be back and I forgot to mention it's great value too.

Located in the old Howick township, lots of parkings nearby. The decoration is plain and simple with some oriental ingredients. The menu is quite simple with a few choices, the food itself is nicely prepared. Staffs are reasonably friendly and it didn't take long for them to bring out the food. Value for money is okay, not too expensive, not too cheap. Overall good place to be, recommended if you're in the township and feel like something decent to eat.

Came here for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The restaurant had a warm feel to it and the staff were friendly and helpful. The food, while not super large portions was good at a very reasonable price. I would definitely come back here again.
S
Nice quiet atmosphere but a bit pricey for the amount of food you get. The fried gyoza were tiny (about the size of my thumb) and costed nearly $10 for 6 pieces.

A definite 10 stars is needed for this gem place! Service was awesome and the staff are friendly. If you are in Howick, stop in (make sure you book a table before arriving), totally worth it.
Patrick Yu
This authentic Japanese restaurant in Howick is a great cozy little restaurant that is perfect for family dining. The food is on-point and has good proportions, but the menu is quite (maybe a little too) simplistic. The service is above-average, with friendly staff and surprisingly quick preparation time for the food to arrive onto our table. Do remember to book a table in advance though as they are almost always fully-booked. Definitely worth dining at this restaurant if you enjoy Japanese cuisine and also if you don't want to spend too much.
Patrick Imrutai
One of the best Japanese restaurant in East Auckland. Fish is fresh and fine cut. Highly recommend beef Tataki and any of their Nikiri and rolls. Recommend to book in advance, even Sunday.
Donna Persson
This is our new family favourite. Just easy. Close by, family friendly, good food, good service, opens early. We are enjoying trying different Japanese meals. Thanks Miyuki.
Shamim Shadfar
The food was really good, one of the best Japanese dishes I’ve had. The place is very comfortable and cozy (with beautiful Japanese music); and staff were really friendly too.
Ellynn
I tried the unagi and the tempura. The unagi was a bit chewy. It wasnt as tender as I would hope for. But the tempura was good and the dessert it came with was good too.

I don’t go to Howick often, don’t think I’d have found this place if I didn’t subscribe to Zomato Gold or if they weren’t one of the Zomato Gold Partners!

Absolutely happy with their food and service, especially the Large Sashimi Platter and Grilled Scallop Nigiri! They are very generous in their sashimi cut, very thick cut and fresh. So glad we ordered 6pcs of Grilled Scallop Nigiri instead of 3pcs to share between 3 of us... only 1pc each defo not enough! If Green Tea is your cup of tea then make sure you try their Green Tea ice cream as well, it’s not one of those fake milky slightly green tea flavoured ice cream, it’s full of green tea flavour while isn’t too sweet.

Will definitely go back to Miyuki again!
#SheCanEat
I’ve always walked by this restaurant not knowing how much of a hidden gem it is.
Regret not giving it a go sooner!
Prices are good, the photos I took were my top three.
Definitely save some room for green tea ice cream, it’s so good.

Interested in coming back and trying different dishes. 👏🏽

Great place tucked away on the corner of a road up in howick. Probably one of the better Japanese places in the area. Highly recommend the rainbow roll although a bit smaller than it looks on the menu its beautifully prepared and tastes delicious! They make good tempura and udon and the service is usually pretty fast.
Cleo
Nice food, both good in tastes n presentation.
Nadia
Really like the Katsu Chincken, udon noodle soup also tasty, will be back definitely. Stuff is very friendly,High recommend.
Bella Qian
Loved the atmosphere and the food. Great Japanese food. Wish there were more main options. Everything we ordered was great, really loved the burdock chips. Food came out very fast. Wish the service was more enthusiastic but its not a big deal. Will defs be back!
Amy Ching
Beautiful. Love the food!!!

First time to visit this restaurant for lunch during the weekend. It was almost full when we arrived.

The waitress was attentive to bring us the menu and a jug of water and cups.
We ordered the sirloin steak, teriyaki chicken, pork katsu and chicken katsu with egg.
Meal comes with an appetiser, miso soup, a deep fried fish katsu and a cream puff.

Good portion, taste was good. The katsu was crunchy. Medium rare for the Sirloin and the sauce complimented nicely.

Overall we were satisfied with the meal and will come back to try other dishes next time.
Nae
Used Zomato gold on the lunch menu. Had salmon teriyaki n the portion was tiny.
Katharina Wulandari
The best japanese food restaurant in East Auckland!! All food served are always fresh, tasty and consistent throughout the year. All the deep fried menus e.g katsu or tempura is always crunchy but not too oily, and the portion size is great. Their takoyaki is also very yummy. Highly recommended!!
Hana
Really good local Japanese spot. Consistent food and service - always friendly! Also has a BYO option, and they’re tolerable to younger groups/noisier bunches. Only downside is you’re sitting very close to other tables, so maybe not the best place for a super private chat! Other than that, I have always enjoyed Miyuki.
Gin
Nice restaurant with nice food and service. :)
Mr Practical
Ordered a Katsu Chicken Curry yesterday (09/11), both the presentation and taste were very good, also no concerns on hygiene. The staff was friendly. Will definitely recommend this place to others.
CY
the food is nice , very reasonable prices , fast service and overall good atmosphere . Could be some more vege options though.

I have been to Miyuki several times and always leave with satisfaction. The food quality is always great and the sashimi is very fresh. It is one of my favourite Zomato Gold restaurants in East Auckland. The rainbow rolls and the scallop nigiri are my favourite!
NanaKo
Came here for lunch because of zomato gold. We each ordered one of the lunch sets. Portions are reasonable and the food is relatively tasty. The service here is really good with polite and friendly staff.
Have heard good reviews for their dinner as well so will definitely come back for dinner and do a full review then.

Discovered this hidden gem coz of zomatogold! Ordered the highly raved chicken katsu while my hubby had the sirloin steak. Both were delicious and we especially loved that they plated everything so nicely and there was such a great variety of flavors for each set! Explored the beautiful Howick neighborhood to walk off our lunch after. Wonderful experience and would definitely return!
Jackie Fu
The staffs were friendly, food is fresh, l like their sashimi, but it not the best though.... Zomato Gold was complicated there, they got lots of rules like can’t unlock item which is over $20, and can’t unlock if I come two days in a row(if I understand correct). I guess we always click unlock in front of staff before we order. But they said I need to unlock when we pay, it was my friend’s treat,I didn’t get to the counter, and it made us totally forgot the unlock thing......

I liked my server today. The place was a bit busy but he was calm, friendly and welcoming. Great value especially with zomato gold because even the lunch item like chicken Katsu came with side dishes!! its strange but I liked that the place is loud! My family and I could chat a bit louder like at home so we felt at home really. Will come back to try the dinner menu!

Decided to try this place for a change and even though they're on ZOMATO GOLD I probably won't be visiting again 😕 I wouldn't say it's gross but it's not really worth going again. We started off with a calamari and though the 🦑 itself was juicy, the batter wasn't crunchy but rather soft and soggy. I had the tempura udon 🍜which was in my opinion bland and tasteless - also something anyone could make at home (probably even better) the vege tempura was yummy but the prawn 🍤 was small and all you could eat was batter. The soft shell crab sushi 🍙 wasn't bad but nothing special about it either. The best thing was probably the chicken katsu where the chicken was tender and the sauce was tasty as well. It's such a shame the flavours and dishes aren't great cause it's a really comfortable and homely environment with lots of parking round the back.

Neat little place tucked away in Howick! Loved our lunch meals with fast service 👍🏻

Really great dining experience. Prices were very reasonable. Would recommend booking before hand as it is quite petite and only has a handful of seating.
The sashimi and all the ingredients were very fresh. The wagyu was A4 Japanese wagyu as advised by the waitress and was surprisingly much fresher comparing to other restaurants I have been in new zealand who also claimed to serve genuine Japanese wagyu.
The chicken kaarage was really juicy, not rough at all.
Will definitely come back again to try other dishes.

This place is nicely decorated and has a clean, home-y feel to it and the staff were friendly. We ordered the Chicken Katsu and the Tempura Udon which came with little side dishes and a cream puff for dessert. The miso soup was flavourful, dressing on the salad was the perfect amount, udon was soft and chewy, broth was clear and had a lovely aroma to it. I cannot fault the two dishes we had. Definitely coming back to try other things on the menu!
Food - 5/5
Ambience - 5/5
Service - 4/5

While the gold only applies to under $20 dishes. The lunch meals are more than enough food. Quite tasty and well cooked.

It was pleasant experience to celebrate Father's Day. Food was quickly served and tasty. Portion was just enough. Price was worth every penny. Restaurant was busy. I saw most table had reserved signs. Lucky I booked in. We went there early at 11.30am which was their open hours. We ordered : Teriyaki Salmon, Chicken Katsu with egg, Kids meal, Chicken Teriyaki, Vegetable Gyoza Dumpling. All come with rice and side dish (except dumpling). Environment was good for family outing. I recommended to my work colleagues. 5 stars from us!
Louise Chin
We have eaten here 3 times in recent weeks. The lunch menu is excellent and we have really enjoyed all the meals. Salmon, eel and noodles all very satisfying with the set menu. Miso, salad, chicken bite, seaweed and cream puff are very good additions.
We are going to work our way through the menu. Great choices for vegetarians.
Staff are friendly and efficient.
Happy to recommend this Japanese restaurant as we will have our dance group term lunch here
Shivain Sethi
Great place for a special dinner out, fresh and tasty food! 4 stars because I found the serving size to be too small, overall the ambience and service makes up for it.
K Yu
Visited here twice already. First was at dinner and 2nd was at lunch.

During lunch, main dishes come in bento while for dinner it doesn't, and price is the same. 😄

In our 2nd visit, we tried Salmon teriyaki and beef teriyaki. They are both tender and delicious!! Totally worth it, and it is more worth it because we used zomato gold (one of the orders is free), so we got 3 bentos - 2 salmon, 1 beef teriyaki, we've got the beef teriyaki bento for free.

If you'll be using zomato gold, their dishes over $20 cannot be chosen as complimentary. I think they should have also mentioned it in their zomato gold conditions.

Anyway, in case you are planning to subscribe to zomato gold, you may use my referral code: KEAN2604 to get 20% discount on zomato gold membership 😃

Atmosphere is nice. Quiet and decorative place for a nice lunch with fam, their lunch set is bomb. Got the eggplant side dish and Salmon don and Pork katsu curry lunch sets. Staff were friendly and service was what you would expect at a restaurant.

Overall
Food: 4/5
Atmosphere: 5/5
Service: 4/5
Melanie Esterman
The food here is really good and the meal size is generous. However you need to be patient if it's really busy as both times I have been only 1 person is there to take orders, bring them and do the cash register. Service is much quicker when there are less customers. I recommend the chicken katsu curry. I went for lunch.
Ramona Zhang
Food was pretty good, a nice little restaurant just off the main street. The waitress was really nice and waited for us to decide what to eat. The environment was quiet and cozy, a pretty good spot for dinner dates.
Kat
The lunch set menu taste nice, kids love it, quite good price with Zomato Gold (Dishes under $20 can use Zomato Gold) Recommend this Japanese restaurant in Howick.

Came here on a Friday , arrived around 615 , didn’t seem overly busy, however it was packed by 7pm.

Very nice Japanese restaurant in the howick neighbourhood, food didn’t take long to arrive and the 3 dishes we ordered are very good quality and tasty, especially the rainbow roll.

Will be back again to try other dishes
Edwin Khor Yeu Sheuan
Decent food, good service good ol neighbourhood Japanese, sadly anything above 20 bucks was not included in the buy one free one deal else would be much better
Meerae
Great value for money.
We had the wagyu beef, sashimi deluxe and the tempura prawns. Very fresh sashimi and the scampi was divine.

A lot of street parking nearby and the atmosphere is quite warm. Best to make a reservation before going as it seems like a go-to place on a Saturday evening.
James Fisher
Excellent choice for some quality Japanese food in Howick.

Would recommend the chicken katsu and the green gyoza.

Nice ambience and cozy feel to it.
Su Ling
Good food and the staff are friendly. The food was served quite fast although the restaurant was quite full. The discount was for main meal n very reasonable price
Demi Dai
Love the Rainbow roll sushi. Nice staff , great location, big car park, went four times already. One of the best cp value on zomato gold member benefit.
Kate Wu
Food is ok. We were there for the lunch, ordered Tempura Don and sirloin Steak The amount of the food was quite little. I only had one prawn on tempura don. And the sirloin steak was s very small piece cut into small pieces. Restaurant is quite small and we had our baby with us can barely fit a stroller in. Only one waitress on the floor even though the food came out quite quick.
T.parbhu
Had a really lovely lunch at Miyuki and with the Zomato gold benefit it was a great cheap eat! The service was really fast and friendly and the food was delicious! We had katsu chicken and miso eggplant!
Na Rae Kang
Good food. Had lunch and set menu is a great deal. Food was well displayed. Not too salty so it was good for me . Cosy environment. Recommend

Arrived for our 730 booking and had to wait to be seated (table wasnt ready). Then didnt get a drink order until 8! Was super busy but would have been nice for someone to acknowledge us waiting and ask if we wanted breveges while we waited for our table. Food was delicious and came out quite once we orderes.
Chelsea
Food is fresh and super tasty! Although Miyuki was packed, our meals came out quickly. We had the Salmon salad, spicy tuna sushi and teriyaki beef. All meals had good flavour and would definitely order again. We used our Zomato Gold here, so it made our dinner even more affordable.
SeaLam
we had a good lunch here. the food was good and was good price(with the Zomato). the seating was nice and there was lots of parking spaces available as well
Esther
Very disappointed with the staffs attitude, not even apologies after an incident. Felt simply just a rush to serve you the food & pay the bill. Customer service always the pride when we choose where to dine...
Henry Luk
Corkage way too expensive. We were charged $3 per glass instead of a flat rate per bottle :( I just think this is excessive. They need to rethink their corkage policy. Sorry about this but not very happy with it.
Pj Kemp
Love this place! Used Zomato gold here twice. Cute little restaurant. Nice friendly staff. Fast service. And the food is amazing. Ive tried the teryaki eel on rice, Teriyaki Salmon on rice and both were amazing. What was also drool worthy was the Rainbow sushi roll and their Soft shell crab roll. Will definitely be visiting Miyuki again, again and again!
Xiaolan Zhu
This is a Zomato Gold review.
We ordered teriyaki beef, chicken and grilled fish. Quite impressed by the side dishes. seaweed and the little cookie.
The beef and chicken are both tasty and my son enjoyed it very much.
Good quality for the price. Strongly recommend.
J Delicieux
Good quality, fresh, good size portion and nicely presented. Environment is nice and clean. Always great to enjoy the meal with Japanese beer or sake. Price is good for the quality and quantity. Will come back here again.
Danny Lin
There weren’t many people on Tuesday evening. Dishes was nice, staff were friendly, easy parking, great location. One of best in eastern Auckland, will go again.
BlankLove
Taste - 4/5
Portion size - 2/5
Price - quite expensive

As seen from the photos the portion size isn’t that great, was expected from a kinda fancy Japanese restaurant. This place was quite busy as a lot of tables were reserved so it’s better to book before coming. We ordered tempura udon and teriyaki beef with rice. The only disappointment I had was with the portion size in relation to its price, it’s quite pricey and not that filling. Taste wise, I quite like the teriyaki beef, nicely seasoned and flavored, texture isn’t too dry and the sauce adds a very good flavor to the rice. I appreciate them placing the tempuras in a separate plate unlike some other places. So overall, the food is quite good. This place has gold Zomato so it’s definitely worth the shot to come here.

Good food, friendly service. Good portions in a shop tucked in a little corner of howick. We went for lunch on a sunday afternoon and it was not too busy.
Jordan
#zomatogold# experience was amazing! Lunch set $15 chicken yakisoba and beef yakisoba, they are both very tasty! Food came really quick, we were surprised it came with a set of miso soup, salad and dessert. Definitely 5 star!
Little Borneo Girl
Handy location at the start of Howick main street. Restaurant was quite busy with only one waiter cum cashier. There was quite a wait for service but the poor guy had to do everything from talking orders, delivering food to tables, collect payments and clear table. The wait was worthwhile as the food were yummy. Decent portion size compared to other Japanese restaurant. We will definitely be back to try their dinner menu (restaurant does not serve sushi rolls during lunch).
Robert Mak
We came to Miyuki to try using Zomato Gold for the first time,

We were there on a Tuesday night straight after work, there weren't many people but that was exactly what were looking for. A nice and cosy environment to just wind down from a long day of work.

we got the seared scallop nigiri and the rainbow roll. 💯% would recommend the seared scallop! If you've had it at Daruma, this wouldn't disappoint you at all. We thought it was even better.

However if you're not using Zomato Gold it might be a little on the pricier side. But seriously if you're planning to treat yourself to some good Sushi #Miyuki would be an essential.
Hasini Ratnasekera
Works great with Zomato gold, everything under $20 is included in the deal. We enjoyed the food and the space was great for group or couples.
Deadwin
closer to 3.5
the ambience and food presentation was nice
the taste average, food portion decent
my friend who ate with me said the food did not taste exactly Japanese authentic, i could not tell
Kirstie Jory
Super delish, good service and food was great portion size. Will be back again soon highly recommend the tempura prawns. Lovely lunch venue and do good takeaways too
Joe Dawson
We arrived without a reservation on a Tuesday evening around 6.30. The place was 50% full with a few tables reserved. They managed to find a table for my wife and I. Within 5 minutes, the place was full. Food arrived quickly. Tasted great and full of flavour Used Zomato 1+1 food. Overall good exp. Will go back. Menu range is good.
Ming Shi
We ordered the steak lunch seat and the yakiniku kaminabe. The dishes were well presented and taste good, but the portions are definitely not worth $18 each compared to other Japanese places.

Overall we are satisfied because we got one dish for free due to Zomato Gold, and would come back as long as they remain as Zomato Gold partners.
Mentalboy9
best chicken curry katsu I’ve ever had. So good that my gf stole it off me and swapped for the beef udon which wasn’t as good. The chicken karaage was tender and juicy as.

10/10 would get my food stolen off me again.
GaLaisa
This lovely Japanese restaurant located in Howick Village is perfect! Nice ambiance. Food presentation is great. Just the miso soup is not hot as expected. I will come back to check their other dishes. 😁
Corey Liú
Nice food and service, decent Japanese restaurant, really enjoy this dinning, very welcome to Zomato.gold member, and highly recommende!!!!!
Sally Meale
Cute casual dining, good service yummy food. Good large portion of salmon and food all nicely presented. Also nice cold beer and option of BYO wine.
Jonathan Clark
Nice little restaurant with friendly service. Our table tried the Rainbow Roll, Sashimi, Unagi Don, Salmon Don, Soft Shell Crab, and other sides. Everything was good, nothing was outstandingly good. It hit the spot for a night we craved Japanese food.
Vivian C
Right off the bat, service was very friendly and efficient.

We ordered a Beef Udon and a Chicken Katsu Curry, which were both presented beautifully. Unfortunately, every aspect of the beef udon had virtually no flavour, which was disappointing. The chicken katsu was fresh and juicy but the rest of the dish was just a bit plain. It was good that we came with our Zomato Gold membership as it definitely would not have been worth $17.50 for each dish when we both walked away from dinner still hungry.
Chris W
One of the best service I have experienced. Staff were extremely friendly despite the restaruant being full of customers. Food was delish. Outstanding 👌 would definitely recommend a visit especially with zomato gold.
Ra
When I go to a restaurant with someone I'd like to eat with them there as well, while I write this review my meal arrived and got cold while waiting for my partners, restaurant is about 40% full and I'm not happy paying for a cold dinner. I eat mine and go to the counter and the server says it's on the way, 2mins later I get told theres been a mixup and they're making it now, I got my partners meal to takeaway, what a waste of time getting dressed and coming out.

8 months later still no response from management 😅, seem to reply to praise instantly
Uyen Ngo
The resturant is cool and cosy. We went here and got the rainbow sushi roll, and beef fillet sushi. Everything was fresh, and sushi were flavoursome! Staffs were friendly, and dishes were served less than 10 minutes. Would recommend this place for brunch or a snack👍🏻💛
Foodie
We were pleasantly greeted by a staff member, who was very happy to accept our Gold Membership card. Had a nice seat outside under the canopy. The service was quick and pleasant, and all of our selected dishes fresh and tasty. We’ll be back!
Cesar Luis
All food is beautifully presented and the service is very friendly, the rainbow sushi is amazing and fresh, the teriyaki chicken is tender and juicy and the ton katsu is crispy, good job Miyuki! If anything perhaps portions could be a bit bigger (eg Big fish) this place will be a 5 star
SooChoi
Very nice and friendly service. Great environment to enjoy food. Food tastes very nice and fresh. Truly one of best Japanese restaurant in East Auckland!!
Alice In New Zealand
Oh my goodness. I love this place so much. It was my first time to come here n i loved! Nigiri was the best for me. I had grilled salmon nigiri n scallop nigiri:) the quality was really good:) the main was bit salty but was perfect with rice n served with rice. yum:) beer n sake was also perfect with dishes. Definitely will come back again.
Yu Jia
What a beautiful surprise, 5 star taste and presentation with 3 star price, I’m really happy to see a high quality Japanese restaurant added to East Auckland! Highly recommended!
Lo
My friends and I would visit this place weekly, really big fans of it. However, the new owners have completely changed the menu and gotten rid of the old chef, and we have a very disappointing experience here. Sushi was $13 for a portion that was the previous management's small size (see photo), it was also very sugary and basic for the price it was. The rest of the menu was also very disappointing, with limited options. The food also came out at vastly different times, and my friends had finished their food before I even got mine. The chicken karaage was just some plain, unflavoured chicken, miso was average and there were no complimentary edamame beans. Would highly recommend not going back if you were also a fan of the old Miyuki. Fingers crossed they change the menu back soon
Lu Taylor
What’s happened to one of our favourite restaurants? New menu terrible, prices have skyrocketed overall disappointed and will never be returning.
Marissa Chellan
Disappointed with the changes. The food is ok ( used to be better) and the price is 3x what it used to be. I was so upset with the lack of the green steamed dumplings and the ridiculous price for the same amount of food. $18.50 for beef tataki which used to be $9?! Unfortunately, this used to be our go to spot, but we will need to find another good jap place that wont break the bank!
Janet Ma
Many friends recommended this place to me and I knew they have started their lunch menu on 20th of June. My neighbor and I went to Miyuki today and we had a wonderful lunch there, both of us were satisfied about their food and service. Especially I was impressed by their dishes’ display. Black sesame creme brûlée was so nice, and I also highly recommend their paper pots! Btw, they got lunch menu coupons these days👍.
Ash Norton
Such a great place! Food is inexpensive, fresh and delicious. Service is great, you get fresh edamame as soon as you order and the food comes out within 10 minutes. So tasty and so authentic. Get the beef tataki, it’s spot on!
Y Anne
This is possibly the best Japanese food I've had at a reasonable price. We were lucky to get a table for two because every other table was reserved and I can see why. Miyuki has a comfortable setting although seating capacity is rather small. However it was still quiet enough and the chef himself personally came to a few tables to talk to customers. A very modest man who thanked us and other customers.

The medium sushi platter was great. Ingredients were fresh and sweet. Enjoyed the beef tataki as well as the takoyaki. But the prawn croquette didn't wow us. Will definitely be back to try other dishes as they look fab!

Tip: Make a reservation before dining.
Terry Yuan
first time been there with my son. it's nice place. two person just spent 41 dollars and the service is good and polite!but the menu is quite simple and no photos that makes me a little bit confuse!
Hi-De Tanaka
Good service, quick service and the food was alright nothing too fancy but what to would expect for a main priced at 15-18 dolllars and also the styling and atmosphere was homely but I kinda found the portion sizes small and also a very cute waiter ;)
Michelle Forte
Perfect size portions, perfectly cooked, beautifully presented and great service. Not often one can enjoy a dinner out but this is a treat and well priced too. Thanks
Naz Dav
This is by far the better of Japanese places we have been to in Auckland. We are going back for our third time and will probably continue to go. Highly recommended and polite staff.
Peter Sefton
We dined here with friends tonight 23 May 17. Firstly the atmosphere is very nice as you enter through two sets of doors and it has quite an authentic feel to it. However, that's where the positives end. It seems to be run by only two people so service is slow to take your order and especially slow to deliver it. I realize we were a group of 8 people so expected service to be a little compromised. They gave us a sheet of paper to mark down our order so there was no excuse when their special dumplings, which I had ordered, failed to arrive at all! (they did apologize and didn't charge for this dish, however that doesn't alter the fact that everyone else had finished before this order arrived. The food is inadequate when you compare prices, $8 or $9 for 3 little pieces of chicken on a skewer etc. My friend had a full size sashimi priced (I believe) at $32 and remarked how inadequate it was compared with other japanese restaurants.
I came away feeling that it's not somewhere I would want to return to in future.
Stevie Clutterbuck
Delicious food and lovely attentive service!

Meals are really reasonably price and a main will easily satisfy you for dinner.

Would 100% recommend
Christine Paranthoiene
We love this place. It has beautiful fresh food and is reasonably priced for a family dinner. Great beer on tap. Very sweet staff. It's a favourite.
Eric Tan VersionTwo
Sunday during Queens birthday weekend rolled in without reservation around 6, place looked empty then but within 5-10 minutes it started getting quite packed. Food was terrific, I still remember them giving discount for no reason last time I came months ago, but consistent above average experience for me. Service friendly and was quite fast even with near packed restaurant; atmosphere was cozy; food above average and worth price in my opinion, quality doesn't come cheap. Got free sets of edame sides but my parnter ordered chicken Katsu on rice (4/5; it was good but I've had better), I ordered small salmon and avacdo sushi roll (looked cute; tasted even better 5/5 ); fried gyoza (cooked to perfection 5/5); takoyaki set (4.5/5); soft shell crab (its acquired taste but 4/5); all of that for $46 (drinks will burn a hole in your pocket though). The place is very good casual dining venue; would glady come back again and again.

We love Miyuki.

Always so polite and friendly, one of the more reasonably priced restaurants in Howick. It pays to book, and being BYO always helps to keep the price down.
Food is excellent, especially the vegetable tempura.

This this is a real family favourite. The staff are friendly and efficient and we've never had to wait long for our food. We order a selection of entrees and mains to share and always have plenty. The food is very fresh and delicious and price wise Miyuki is very reasonable especially if you BYO.

Came here last week and had dinner with a few friends. First thing I noticed that it was quite expensive. The food came out very quickly and the staff were excellent. My girlfriend tried to order a combination of things and when chef even came out to give us the meals, he explained why what was requested wouldn't work. Quite cool. The food itself was OK...but not worth the price. I would say Ken Yakatori was tastier.

Visited on a Thursday evening with the family and I can recommend this place to others.

Positives
1 - Considering the quality and in a few cases quantity, the prices are very reasonable, in particular the side dishes
2 - Generally good quality and tasty dishes
3 - Fresh tasting ingredients and fish

Negatives
1 - Service is on the slow side, especially toward the end when we added a few more dishes
2 - No water upon arrival unlike many other restaurants I've been to. You have to request the water.
3 - Lack of cutlery, dishes etc... Again you need to request these items
4 - Shortage of waiters in a fully packed restaurants, difficult to grab hold of the staff
5 - The main dishes were small in quantity
6 - Very average chicken Udon noodles at the end

We went here on a busy Friday night and were seated immediately. The staff were efficient but not overly helpful in offering us more drinks or checking if we needed more food. The gyoza were delicious and worth the visit. The small sashimi was very very small, much smaller than expected but delicate and tasty. The mains of soup and rice dishes were cheap and delicious. We ordered edamame and it didn't come until after our meal - quite odd. Overall a good place for a quick and easy meal before a movie, but wouldn't race back for a special occasion.

Just went here with my partner and it was amazing, you get complementary edamame when you sit down which I love. I got the the teriyaki salmon, my partner got the salmon avocado sushi, the portions looked small (they were only $15) but it was the perfect amount, I feel satisfied and full. Ive been trying to find a resturant where I actually enjoy every bite and i definatly did!

Let me just get something out of the way before we start. The manager/owner literally knows mine and my partners names because we frequent this cute little Japanese restaurant so often! If that doesn't foreshadow the rest of this review for you then I don't know what else to say.

Miyuki is a hidden, underrated gem in Howick. It's around the corner from the main road and is fairly new to the area.
The setting is gorgeous and well decorated. It's clean and modern looking.

The service is impeccable. Despite the fact that the staff know us by name, before we were regulars they always treated us with the utmost respect and care.

The meals are small although I have a hint! Check the prices of the meals before you order. They will tell you whether the meal is an entree or main size.

My partner and I went today and ordered two mains of noodles (I'll get to them in a moment), and entree, a glass of wine and a beer. It was $49 for the two of us.

You start off with some complimentary Edamame beans which is good because then I don't have to order them separately. Free food always makes me want to revisit a restaurant. Food is always brought out quickly, whether the restaurant is busy or not.

Glasses of Oyster Bay wine are only $6.50 too which is pretty darn cheap for a restaurant!

The food is delicious, fresh and well seasoned. The Yaki Soba with teriyaki chicken is amazing. I would 100% recommend. The Vegetable Tempura is also one of my favourites.

Honestly, I can't fault the place. The ONLY gripe is that you NEED to remember to book earlier in the day if you want a table for a Thurs/Fri/Sat because it gets super busy! Also they're closed on a Monday which sucks. ALSO some Chicken Katsu on the menu would be perfection.

Other than that, if you haven't been, you NEED to.

After a long day of hard work, I just wanted to dine out. So with my wife, off we went to Miyuki in Howick. It is a rather new Japanese restaurant, probably run by Koreans.

For drinks we had peach jelly sake & warm sake which came in a bottle wrapped in a hand towel - I've never seen sake being served in this way in a restaurant; it also came with a dented sake cup. We ordered little dishes to share. First came the complimentary Edamame - simply boiled. We realised that there were no chopsticks, nor napkins. Were they forgotten or was the waitress too busy? Then came Takaki beef & Tuna sashimi - both nicely prepared. Dip-fried soft-shell crab was bland & not golden - almost burnt. Okonomiyaki (dip-fried pancake) was average. Takoyaki (octopus balls) was too salty. Prawns Katsu was nice. On the whole, Miyuki in Howick is just on the same level as Ginger, Elephant Thai, or Benjarong.
(Food - 3.5/5; Service - 3/5; Ambience - 4/5)

A cute little japanese place for dinner. Portions are a bit on the smaller side. I love the Okonomiyaki here :) I found the soft shell crab was too crabby for my liking and had a weird texture to them.
They have a good selection of skewers and sushi to share.
Friendly service and cute decor. You also get some edamame while you wait for your food which is a bonus :D.
It gets quite busy on weekends, so I'd recommend to book ahead.

Update- 05/19
Came here for dinner and got the teriyaki beef and chicken curry. The teriyaki beef was pathetic. It was 80% fat. Could barely eat it and left feeling hungry still. Chicken curry was alright. But seriously.... if it wasn’t for Zomato gold I would’ve complained straight away because it was not worth the money! Although in saying this maybe the quality of food was so poor due to the second meal being free.

Delicious food, and lovely staff. The way the food is brought out is fantastic, dish by dish so every meal you eat is right from the kitchen. Lovely seating arrangement. The takoyaki is my favourite and was done so well. Will definitely be returning!!

I have eaten here twice and both times the food and service was great. The draught Sapporo is well priced for the size of the glass. All the food was fresh. You can tell the difference, as I was in another Japanese\Korean restaurant around the corner and their sashimi wasn't fresh. The reason I was at this place was Miyuki was fully booked up. This was on a Friday. We went in at 6:15 pm hoping to get a table and there were reserved signs on all the tables that were not already occupied. That says a lot.I will be booking a table next time definitely.

A great place for a dinner. Prices are very reasonable and service is polite & friendly. Complimentary edamame beans were a nice touch. Loved the ceramic pot of Japanese mayo on all tables - it meant I could serve myself gluttonous lashings :)

Cheap & delicious ! Servings are small but prices are good , recommend the chilli chicken skewers, chilli prawn skewers , and fried gyoza. Busy weekends so book your table in advance

Food was nice enough and cheap enough. Place had patrons of both young families and older people as well as the young couples. Prawn skewers ( 2x 6) and prawn tempura ( 5) all nice and well priced at $ 7-8. The teriyaki beef lived up to expectations - my husband said the tuna sashimi was nice. I would have liked the little porcelain chop -stick resters to save having to put my chopsticks on the table. But pleasant enough for Friday after work. Will return one day as is not far from home.
