Review Asakusa Japanese Cuisine - Auckland

By far, the BEST japanese restaurant I have been to in Auckland 😊 the atmosphere is so cozy and the service is just wonderful. We felt so welcomed, they would explain about every single dish in detail to us and the portions were all so generous. They have high chairs and baby cutleries which make them kids friendly for the families with younger kids. Amazing! I will definitely become a regular here. Come enjoy all the amazing food, everyone!

FABULOUS food!! The salads were light & delicious, the Chicken Katsu was also delicious (so my husband tells me!) The Salt & Pepper Squid was tasty & not overly seasoned….& the Sashimi (we had the small) was very very fresh and included a serve of beef tataki - nice! ALL the food was beautifully presented and we couldn’t fault anything!! I was reluctant to do a review because I didn’t want to give away this little gem, but thankfully they do takeaway as well! Worth the trip to dine at this little gem, although I suspect if the restaurant was full it would be quite noisy - but a bit of bustle sometimes is nice too! The Sake menu is also impressive and looking forward to working my way through them! Highly highly recommend this delightful restaurant with truly hospitable, professional & friendly staff😉👍 We will be back…….. very soon!

Recent discovery - a Japanese Gem in Remuera! Haru Eatery offers amazing and fresh Japanese cuisine with a good selection of dishes ranging from sashimi, sushi, ramen and some of the best tempura and dipping sauce in Auckland! Highly recommend. Service was spot on and friendly. Place wasn't crowded for lunch for those that are not into crowds. Plenty of sake options too!

Haru Eatery is a Japanese restaurant that offers a unique and memorable dining experience. From the moment you step into the restaurant, you are welcomed by the owner and attentiveness towards your seating comfort. The menu at Haru Eatery is simple and easy to understand. It is lacking creativity however don’t let that fool you as their dishes are both visually stunning and delicious. I had special request due to dietary, the staff communicated clearly and made sure the request delivered correctly to kitchen. The ambiance of Haru Eatery presents a sense of tranquility and harmony, with the use of natural materials such as wood matching with muted colours that creates a calming and relaxing atmosphere. Overall, Haru Eatery is a place I would recommend visiting for anyone who appreciates a visually stunning Japanese cuisine. The price for lunch is reasonable, matching with the quantity.

Recent find, cute little place stashed away in Remmers, decent eats and good vibes. Well presented and tasty, a nice visit if you’re in the area. Prices are slightly pricey but quite standard imo for Japanese cuisine and the location. Pork belly is always a good feed, well marinated and presented, ramen was a goodie as well though probably would go to a specific ramen place if you’re looking fiending ramen.

10 out of 10 - Fresh and high quality food, friendly staff and amazing service. Highly recommended!

Came here for a Birthday dinner, entrees were brought out quickly- very tasty and the mains too- all the meals were to die for 😋definitely will be coming here again! Nice and warm inside, small and cosy 👍

The best salt and pepper squid and Tonkatsu ramen in Auckland. The staff were really friendly. Will definitely be back.

A good range of food items on offer. However, service was slow since there were only two staff manning the floor and counter. The warned that the steamed egg appetiser would be slow, but that was something unique and tasty. The dishes themselves were not very adequate in portion, and we were left hungry despite having ordered the appetiser. Nice clean environment and decor, however.

The duck main dish is the worst I've had. Only little piece of duck.

Food was okay, but staff were good. We accidentally left wallet there and they quickly rang us and let us know.

A little Japanese restaurant in Remuera. Elegant decoration & friendly service. Food arrives quite fast or maybe becauae the restaurant was not busy when we were here. Highly recommended dishes to order if you are a seafood lover like us: baby octopus, seafood hotpot & tuna steak. The deep fried baby octopus served with tradition mayo and chilli flake on top is undeniably perfect for entree 🐙🐙🐙. Seafood hotpot served in paper is a very unique experience to us. The taste of its milky soup is just amazing that my partner drank to the last drop. Tunna steak is incredibly soft. With the special sauce, some salad & rice, the dish just goes so well that everytime you put them in your mouth you have nothing else but the satisfyinf feeling. We totally enjoyed the dining experience last night. Will come back to try other dishes on the menu for sure 🍽🍽🍽

Small intimate place and good service though serving sizes are extremely small for what you pay. I ordered the duck which was a “main” and it had really thin slices of duck meat with some plain vegetables and sauce. Definitely not worth the price and left feeling unsatisfied.

Very friendly and attentive waitress.<br/><br/>We ordered the otoro sashimi, seafood hotpot and teriyaki chicken. <br/><br/>The otoro used had lots of white tendons which were hard to chew. <br/><br/>The seafood hotpot had a rich and flavorful broth and a good variety of salmon, prawn, tofu and veges. Really nice atmosphere, great and tasty food. Prawn katsu curry rice was so yummy, crispy outside and juicy inside. Very friendly service!

not sure was it because of the zomato gold, the portion was relatively small~we ordered udon to my littleone of 4.5yo and it wasnt enough for her~ Generally, the food was not bad. The shushi was fresh. The curry taste good.

Lovely restaurant with friendly staffs, the dishes are tasty, sashimi are fresh and premium. Appreciate Zomato Gold experience. Will definitely return again.

We ordered wagyu beef and it was nice though it took a while before serving them to us, around 40mins. It might need to thaw before cooking. Maybe it will help if the wait staff will inform the customers about the long wait so they will not feel very hungry when they have their food. Funny thing was we ate the food for just less than a half of our waiting time, lol.<br/><br/>The staff was friendly and accommodating and immediately informed us what are those meal are not included in the zomato gold but luckily the wagyu is included that we are really after for. We will still definitely come back to try different meals. <br/><br/>Overall we are satisfied and will not stop us in coming back to Asakusa.

Came here for the first time. It’s a very cosy petite restaurant, probably fit about 20 people max. <br/>All dishes we tried are just okay, a bit salty for us. For the price there are a lot better options around. <br/>I don’t think we will be back...

Always a winner here! Been here 3 times. The salmon lover has my heart, although it’s slightly on the dear side. I enjoy the nice warm cozy decor, and eager staff too.

Friendly service and amazing food. Ordered the Teriyaki Salmon Combo Box to go and was surprised at the generous portion when I opened it. Came here for weekend lunch and was a bit disappointed only a limited menu was on offer for lunch. Understandable but this was not on their website or on Zomato. Nevertheless we still had a great meal.<br/>Started with the Sashimi platter (17 pieces, including tuna, salmon, kingfish, two cuts of snapper, scallop topped with roe), takoyaki and edamame.<br/>After that we each got a main and I would recommend the daily lunch box which on this day was duck leg and salmon collar, and came with sashimi, tempura, omelette, takoyaki, miso soup & rice.<br/>The service was friendly and the atmosphere was a typical cute neighborhood Japanese joint.

All the different flavours are connected together in this one shell!!! Cheesy but fresh and sour as well as sea flavour!! I have never tasted this combination from mussels!!! The flavour of cheesecake is different than other chessecake!!Much better!!!and black sesame ice creammm yumm very addictive, the beef tataki cooked well, soft texture, easy to swallow. Katsu Chasu.....absolutely cruncy on outside and soft in inside🥰🥰creammy flavour from prawns and the Fruity flavour from Kodomo beer..I loved it!!! Wanna go again!!😍

Best Japanese I have had in a long time! So delicious!! We got a variety of the small dishes to share- spider roll, gyoza, tempura, agedashi tofu, tempura and a sashimi plate. Also a few other things. A must visit.

Maybe I chose the wrong dish ? The katsu don was pretty miserable to eat. Egg had been replaced with what seemed like a sweet teriyaki style sauce, the pork cutlet was itself over cooked to a deep marginally burnt state. I will go back and try something else as this is a small place with some good reviews but unless you want your savory dish as sweet as toffee this dish is one to avoid.

We saw this restaurant from website so decided to try. They food here is okay but not great. They cooked my fish a little bit over cooked. But beef was nice. Dessert is good we like black sesame icecream. Service is very good.
