Review Eight Letters - Auckland

Maria Khaydar
I don’t think there is a better place to visit in Glen Innes. I tried 90% of their menu just to see if there’s anything they don’t cook well - creamy mushrooms, halloumi salad, French toasts… everything came out perfectly, with heaps of ingredients and quick! We are regulars and will be back for sure!

This cafe is kind of hidden where it is located. I have lived in the area for years and didn’t know it was here 😳I saw it on google maps when trying to find a new cafe for lunch. I ordered coffee and the chicken and halloumi salad. The coffee arrived quickly and even had a card explaining the origin of the beans and the taste. The salad took a very long time. Just as I considered following up on it, it arrived. It was very good and the dressing flavours were very fresh. The portion size was quite large. The owner was very friendly and I would definitely consider returning. I would recommend if you are into coffee!

Amazing choices of chai latte, cabinet, menu meals; Atmosphere: SO relaxed, enjoyable Toilets: clean (although a wee bit tired), nice hand soap, infant changing table provided; Outside seating with umbrellas, wheelchair access with ramp and parking, spotless, kid friendly with play area; Ask the story of the name 'Eight Letters' - very cute Thoroughly enjoyed this place. Coffee and food are beautiful, friendly staff. Wheel chair entry access, hidden at a small block of shopping corner. It’s great place for a brunch on weekend before heading to do groceries shopping etc.

This is without a doubt, the best Cafe I have ever been to. I come here almost every week, and they consistently deliver amazing food. They don't have a single bad item on the menu - and they know how to make coffee you could sit and smell for hours.

I had an almond flat white to dine-in along with a cheese scone. It was well-made and good value. Very good cheese scone - would return!

Nice vibe - great coffee with lots of attention to detail - a stand out for this set of shops. Little table for kids to play on, lots of natural light and tasteful furnishings, chill music.

The most friendly cafe manager and chef, always greeting us with a big smile. The best blueberry muffin in Auckland and good coffee. Always a very happy experience at this nice cafe. I have recommended this cafe to so many friends of mine. Must give it a try if you haven't been there.

First time here. A busy Saturday morning but food came out really quickly and was delicious. The kids said they were the best burgers they ever had. Coffee was excellent as well. Thank you. We will be back

Lovely service and ambience. We did not have to wait too long for these delicious meals! Fresh fruits were served with the French toast with bacon cooked up to the right level of crisps 👌🏽 however just had a bit too much maple syrup soaked through the fruits. Otherwise still pretty good :)

Not big but very chill cafe. Limited menu and friendly staff. Coffee is not very satisfied but nice chili scrambled egg and lovely date scone!

Super friendly staff. Had a spinach tart which was tasty but shouldn't have been heated up in the microwave. The green salad had store-bought mint sauce and there were globules of store-bought tomato sauce on the plate. Looked nice but couldn't eat it. Coffee was good.

Spotted this place driving through GI. Went in today and happy I did. Lovely service from the guys. Great coffee!! Best mocha in ages. I liked the info that came with it. Breakfast was very reasonably priced. Plenty if people came in while I was there. Will definately be back.

Great find in Glen Innes! Excellent food and coffee, great service and friendly staff. My go-to dish when trying out a new cafe is typically Eggs Benedict and I was pretty happy with Eight Letters. The eggs and bacon were perfectly cooked, generous amount of Hollandaise sauce, a whole tomato and some greens and mushrooms. The mochaccino was excellent too. They even tell you the expected taste and strength and the brew method used. This cafe is definitely recommended and will come back.

It was the outside décor of the café that lead me in to try a cup of coffee at Eight Letters, on my weekly supermarket run I was driving past this café intrigued that such a place existed in Glen Innes. After my supermarket shop, I made it a point to pop in for a fresh cuppa.

Being juxtaposed next to Fruit World, I found the contrast between the two stores perplexing. Going inside the store I was immediately greeted by the staff at Eight Letters and we ended up having quite a nice chat. I ordered a coffee with a cinnamon muffin for $7 and off I went to take a seat. Observing the open layout some would say that things are a little messy but for me, it was relaxing and open. For me, Eight Letters gave a homely feeling and when my coffee arrived it was nice of the staff member to talk me through the type of bean that was used and that next time I could request for different beans to be used. My coffee was fantastic, it was the right temperature and had a deep, slightly sweet taste that just seemed to compliment my muffin so well. I thought the muffin on its own was rather average but the pairing with the coffee was fabulous.

I have to be honest that I have an ominous feeling for Eight Letters, although they serve fantastic coffee, provide great humble service with a great open clean layout, it is inauspicious that they will get the foot traffic that this café deserves. I would implore all coffee fanatics around Glenn Innes to stop by and try some fabulous coffee.

Showstopper: Best coffee I’ve had in Glen Innes

Overall Grade: A

Good blend, and nice staff. The milk could be steamed a lil hotter. The feel could use improvement. Attention to some of the details around the cafe is needed (tidying up on the Reno, and plates and what not). Bad acoustics, so quite loud for only have 5-7 people in the cafe. Foods pretty decent.

Very cute lil cafe across from Pakn Save in GI! Staff are nice & welcoming. Especially nice on a sunny day and the sun shine right through the cafe 👏 . Coffee was good & coffee description unique & interesting. Eggs bene was yum, Hollandaise sauce a bit tangy & it did take a while for the food to come out. Although it was only my partner & I in the cafe. My partner had eggs bene as well & added sausage & the sausage was so good. Will be going again when we do. Nice little local cafe

I love this cafe. It has variety of my favourites. Coffee is so good as well as shakes and you can't go wrong with their recommendations. Loving the kids area too and the vibe you get from the worker. Awesome cafe.

Been coming to this cafe for a few months and the coffee has been consistently amazing, easily the best this side of the city. The staff are very friendly and the food is great. Only let down is the parking lot can sometimes be full as it is shared with other businesses and it can be hard to find a park, however I recently figured out you can park at the pak'n'save across the road and walk over.

Excellent coffee. Friendly service. A great cafe for kids as there are toys, books and spade for playing. Bathroom also has a change table which is handy if you have a little one.
Eight Letters
Awesome coffee, loved the seatings outside and free wifi. The best part of the experience was that you could choose the blend you want. I had Brazil blend which was nice and strong. They also had single origin beans. Cheese scone was also lovely. Superb cafe!
Cafe goes by the name eight letters rather than eight ounce. It's a simple neighbourhood cafe that serves really good coffee and food. Parking is easy but there aren't many tables. Fortunately for us, we managed to find an empty table on a Saturday.

Service is good as the staff saw us eyeing a corner table that has just been vacated and offered to move us over. Coffee came very quickly with a description card. As a coffeeholic who's very particular with the strength and taste of my coffee, my cup of latte was perfect. My bf ordered the nutella brownie shake which wowed the other table when it was brought out. It was good too except that the brownies were pretty hard and we gave up trying to bite them.

For our food, I got the eight letters breakfast while my bf got the beef burger. They were quite good but the potatoes on both our plates were cold. When I informed the staff about it, she apologised for that though I would have liked the potatoes to be warmed up. It was a pity because the potatoes tasted good despite being cold.

As it's a fairly new cafe, there's still room for improvement. For example, a simple one-lined description below each item on the menu would be useful. I didn't know what exactly to expect in the eight letters breakfast and would have preferred to be offered the option of having eggs my way instead of sunny side up (I usually go for poached eggs).

Cafe deserves a second chance and I would return for their coffee.

Superb coffee+ lovely staff + lots of sun + food lovely. The coffee was one of the best. The barista was 2014 champ apparently. Love this place! Wish it was closer to where I live.

My friends and I just finished lunch. We decided to try another place to have coffee and dessert . One of them mentioned let's try Eight Ounce cafe .
When we got there we were greeted with a friendly smile. I ordered iced coffee with ice cream, yummy.
Both friends ordered flat white, double chocolate cake and another cake. The coffees were made to perfection. Delicious cakes.
As we were leaving , we complimented them for the excellent service, and food.
It is worth a drive.

Loved the coffee, food and just overall ambience that Eight Ounce created! Family friendly and an ideal place to chill. Definitely would recommend!

Very nice coffee, probably the best around the eastern bays suburbs! Friendly service too, would be cool if they have more food selections. Having to say that their sandwiches were quite nice too.

I'm a coffee guru that cannot walk pass a new coffee shop without trying it out. This one was an unexpected one and yet just blew me away with the quality of the coffee. I can say that the coffee was by far the best in town. Strongly recommend it to coffee geeks. Great work Eightounce!
