Review Poke Poke Newmarket - Auckland

Odyssey L
I think I've found my go-to poke bowl in Auckland. Let me know if you find another place better. The service here is fantastic and the portion is well beyond expectations, filling without feeling any guilt. Their salmon and tuna is fresh aswell as the salads that came with it. I'll probably be here next month to be honest! Highly recommended šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„

Definitely the best poke bowl I've had. Fresh, tasty and a decent size. I also like that the rice was warm and the fried onions give it such a good crunch for texture. Will definitely be heading back here

Food always good. Fresh and decent size servings. Edit: Went back today to see if the food is still good,... It's still good. Staff always happy and great you with a smile. Plenty of space for dining in with tables and counters always clean. Toilet facilities also very clean. Food is awesome. Fresh and big servings. Very tasty. Condiments are a must to add.

This place is amazing! The portions are a good size and the price is good as well. Vegetarian and Vegan options too. Great service very friendly and genuine

Super in love with this kind of healthy food! All ingredients look so fresh and the sauces taste so good!

Great, convenient little Poke place! Really fresh and great healthy food :)

Great tasting poke bowls - good selection of toppings. Loved the fried lotus roots as a side. Liked the portions though it may be a little on the small side for some. Service was fine and nice casual ambience. A solid 4.5 stars for me.

Great value with very fresh ingredients. My kids love poke bowls and this place restored their faith in good poke bowls after our terrible experience a few days prior. Salmon and tuna were cut into very decent sizes and portions were fair, the dressings were delicious and unlike Poke Bar in Ponsonby, they don't charge you any extra for chopsticks and forks. Very pleased and pleasant experience. Highly recommend and will come again.

This place does the BEST poke poke in Auckland. In fact probably the best I have had in a long time. I have been going to Poke Poke in Newmarket for about a year for lunch (way too often) and it is always consistently awesome, the staff are friendly and the food is just soooo good. Thanks team for always filling my belly for lunch :)

If I can only eat one thing for the rest of my life... šŸ¤”šŸ¤”
I will definitely choose Poke Bowl! Healthy and delicious, don't think I would ever get sick of it. šŸ¤¤
And out of all Poke places in Auckland, I love @pokepoke.nz the most!! From the ingredients to the flavour, I say Poke Poke does the best job!
My go-to base is half purple rice, half salad, until a few weeks ago, I tried their soba noodles for the first time. Oh My God! Itā€™s delicious!! Tender and refreshing at the same time, the perfect base for summer poke. For proteins, I usually get the beef and prawns, especially the beef one, so flavourful! Poke Poke also has heaps of choices for the toppings and sauce as well.
Price-wise, $13.9 for a regular one. Not the cheapest, but totally worth it, I reckon.

I went here during my lunch break while deciding whether to have sushi or try out this place for the first time. For a few dollars more I decided why not and walked in to the poke place. I was definitely lost on how it all works but the staff member was really friendly and helpful. I had the salmon poke bowl with brown rice and you can choose any toppings to go on top. The salmon was very fresh and all the toppings were also fresh. The bowl was actually quite a decent size so its a good value for money. I would definitely come here again :)

My wife and I go here virtually every week because we enjoy it so much. The staff are friendly and the ingredients taste as fresh as you can get them. Thank you for the wonderful service.

I love poke poke in New Market!! So tasty!

Been here a couple times. Usually I donā€™t eat the rice. The food is relatively fresh. Good for a quick healthy bite.

Delicious pokƩ. Great options.
Iā€™m not sure I love the mescaline salad as a base, it needs some crunch and substance - maybe cabbage...?
I love the garnishes on the top though, the pickles, the coconut, etc.
The protein portions are kind of small compared with the $ you pay for the bowl.
But I mean, itā€™s yum.... I just wouldnā€™t come here all that often due to price/value for money.
Manu
Wouldā€™ve been 5/5 but customer service budged it down to 4. Server couldā€™ve been more nicer I guess & didnā€™t have to keep asking what else weā€™d like every second. Compared to the Takapuna one, they pack the scoop of toppings where as here youā€™d just get a ā€˜dabbleā€™ of your choice.

Poke bowl is light and healthy, it's quite refreshing to eat especially in the summer. I always go for the salmon and/or tuna. Sad to see the extra charge on the seafood šŸ˜¢ still would recommend 8/10

Very nice poke bowl, foods are fresh. You need to pay extra for salmon tuna and prawn(they only got like 6 proteins available). Overall pretty good, would visit again.
Food:5/5
Service:4.5/4
Store:4/5
Really nice and pretty shop. Great service and decent portions of food. My poke bowl was so so good and I really liked it. Super fresh and lots of different things in it. Kinda pricey but worth it considering the different components of the poke bowl.

Was recommended this place by a friend and wow long story short: best bang for your buck poke place!
My bowl consisted of: Purple rice and salad
2 protein tuna and salmon. Toppings: edamame, seaweed, crab surimi, ginger, pickles. Finishing a: Kimchi mayo with sesame, fried shallot, seaweed.
For the portion size, the price is extremely decent, even though the fish have a 50 cent extra charge, my meal only ended up being 14.90. Iā€™m so surprised and happy with the meal and the quality of the sides. The tuna and salmon were both well marinated with soy, soft and fresh, and decent serving size. The toppings complimented my meal very well, especially the ginger and pickle which added strong taste and the shallots were super crunchy adding that wonderful texture. Personally the rice was a bit too overdone, most of it was too soft and mushy-thatā€™s the only con I have. Otherwise, you canā€™t beat it for the price! 3.8/5

Itā€™s a very friendly place. Would be a nice and cozy place to eat at. This is a extremely healthy option if your on a diet and want something delicious while still being healthy.

Itā€™s my favourite spot for quick but delicious and healthy lunch during weekdays. I always get their half salad, half purple rice; normally I would just go with the flow to see what protein and salads I want for the day; then select the sauce and toppings accordingly. Theyā€™ve recently introduced a winter menu which I really enjoy.
Mya S
I ordered the Purple Rice poke bowl as a base with tofu and mushrooms (which wasnā€™t on the menu as protein option) because Iā€™m vegan and there werenā€™t any other animal free proteins available - When you place an order, you have to choose two proteins as a base minimum, so the lady who took my order offered it as an option. The options for toppings here are fresh and unique - edamame beans, pineapple, fried shallots. There was only two dairy free dressings at the end, one which was soy sauce. Regardless of the limited sauce options, I found my meal delicious, fresh and beautifully presented. I would love to come back here!
Grace
The salmon was so tasty! Ingredients were fresh and paired well with the meats and rice. PS: the beetroot mayo and sesame dressing for the salad is a must have!! šŸ‘

Still my favourite poke in Auckland and the Newmarket store didnā€™t disappoint! My go-to is half salad/half black rice, salmon & Tuna, basically all the salads and kimchi mayo & shoyu! Delish!!!
Pukeko
This is my second try here. Their foods are great. Cheap, quick and healthy. Perfect for lunch!! Love to choose a lot of fresh greens with sashimi grade tuna/salmon. I'm very happy they opened the shop near my office!
Jenny @ga.eats
This must be the most generous portion of pokĆ© Iā€™ve ever had in Auckland. They go so hard on the rice and toppings I could barely finish. Also love the purple rice options. The trick is to go a couple of times and play around with the sauce combinations and figure out your favourite.

4.5/5 Taste
4.5/5 Display
4/5 Quantity
4.5/5 Customer Service

Best Poke Restaurant in Auckland.

It looks amazing, tastes amazing and itā€™s super healthy. You can enjoy all sorts of flavour in one bite. Ive tried all sorts of combination and they were always successful every time.
Been here so many times for lunch when I want something healthy and quick.
Love how they have so many toppings to chose from!
I wish they gave you more protein but I guess they make it up to you with their selection of veges etc
Sophie
I usually love this place as it's my local but I am always surprised as to how different the portion sizes are of the protein between different servers. Today I was given 3 pieces of tuna as my protein when it's usually double this and I was stared at blankly and dismissed when I questioned it. When I asked for a bit more protein I was charged for another portion which brought the cost to nearly $17. I won't be going back because there is no value for money and you get much bigger portions if you eat in compared to take away even though both come to the same price.
Ari Kim
Good, healthy option to eat in Newmarket. Theres usually a queue during peak times but the staff are quick and friendly so the wait isnā€™t too long. The only thing is tho, their protein portions are ridiculously waaaay too small! You get like 4pieces of prawn as one portion, maybe 5pieces of salmon if you go with the salmon portion. Thats the only factor that stops me from going more.

a healthy dinner tonight! šŸ¤© I havenā€™t been here in a while and everything tasted so refreshing and delicious (especially with the hot weather recently). šŸ’–šŸ„— For those of you wondering I got a half purple rice- half salad (with a bit less rice and more salad). For my proteins I chose the kimchi chicken and tofu! For the other bits I chose edamame, cucumber, surimi, seaweed and spring onion. I like to rotate between sauces and went for a lemon yuzu mayo today!
Everything was so fresh tasting as usual. The tofu though, was quite salty compared to the other times Iā€™ve been here.
Overall, another great experience at Poke Poke and I love the fast service and freedom of choice!!! 9.5/10 šŸ¤ šŸ„’šŸ„—šŸš

Poke is the Hawaiian word ā€˜to sliceā€™ and is essentially a raw fish salad. It consists ofĀ raw marinated fish (like tuna or salmon) and is often served by itself, but also on sushi rice with vegetables. Many Poke eateries have been popping up around Auckland recently, so I thought I would go out and try a few, and also share with you my favourite one ā€“ Poke Poke in Newmarket. Here are five reasons why I love Poke Poke and why you should visit pronto...

Was really excited to get a Poke bar in Newmarket.
Great selection on ingredients and the salads all looked and tasted fresh.
Good place to also dine in.
One of the best Pokes Iā€™ve had!
Jenny Da
Great service and good choice for poke, the restaurant is simple and clean with a clear menu on the back wall.

The portion of protein isnā€™t very big however and as you can see from my photo thereā€™s a piece of half dead lettuce. Other than that, it was pretty good.

First time trying Poke bowl! The idea of picking ur own ingredients always intimated me, but their menu walks you through the process step by step, a very cool concept! The food tasted great and looked great with spectacular and vibrant colours, super healthy! The girl who served me was light spoken and had an accent and at times I couldnā€™t hear her, but all is good since I just guessed what she said based on the process on the menu!

Food- 9/10
Service- 8.5/10
Aesthetics- 8.5/10

This was my first experience with poke and it was a good one. I would give this a 4.5 if I could. The only reason it isnā€™t a 5 for me is that itā€™s not filling enough. These boxes are great and taste great but for lunch Iā€™m gonna need at least 2 which isnā€™t easy on my pocket. If you donā€™t have the same appetite I do, this place would be a solid 5. The sauce range is great and I recommend getting all the toppings that come with your meal. Personally I prefer the rice over the salad. The place overall I feel is quite easy to get to and would is great for a top up during some shopping.

I work in Newmarket and I have become a regular of Poke Poke since it's opening. Fresh and tasty and really enjoy it. Would be great if you introduced a loyalty card! šŸ˜€

Yeah Newmarkets first poke place has popped up at the former Champ Canteen site. I just had their 2 protein bowl consisting a purple rice base with tofu n prawn protein, cucumba n pineapple with beet mayo. Oh you can see them assemble this similar to subway, unlike Ha Poke where it is prep in back kitchen where they balls up my dish by adding ginger when I requested none. (See my Ha Poke review).Ā
Hopping to see more Poke places here soon and not more coffee, pearl tea and/or sushis shops.šŸ¤—

I'm so glad to have found a healthy and affordable food option close to work! The ingredients at Poke Poke are really fresh and delicious and the serving size is good. You can choose from the menu or create your own poke bowl by selecting your base (rice, salad or both), proteins, toppings and sauce. My favourite is the salad and purple rice combination with tuna, salmon and other toppings. The sauces are also quite delicious and unique like yuzu mayo, wasabi aioli etc. There is seating inside so it would definitely be a nice place to have a quick lunch with a friend.

Came here for the first time today for lunch and won't be my last! Food is fresh and portion size is great, loved the wasabi mayo and Sriracha aioli sauces.
Julia Louise
Fresh and tasty food. Generous portions, e both couldnā€™t quite finish our bowls. You can choose from several meal options or create your own. We both made our own bowls and itā€™s a subway type set up where you choose base, then protein then toppings and sauce. Everything very clean and the dining space decor is nice too. Nice to see another dinner option in Newmarket that caters for dietary requirements, will definitely be back.

Long awaited for something this fresh and yummy in Newmarket. Loved their one in taka and so happy they now have it in Newmarket! Good experience each time we have gone. Good portion size, beautiful colourful spectrum of healthy goodness. Good customer service, friendly staff, large selection of sauces (I liked the Ginger miso suspension) and good ambiance in the store. A++
Linda
Super fresh ingredients, with very creative salad dressings - that lemony yuzu mayo is delish! So glad Newmarket has a new healthy food stop for those on the go!

This is the only Poke Poke I've visited so I don't know if it's the norm for all the franchises but i feel they are very tight on their servings, everything from the proteins to the salads and toppings is like watching someone do delicate artwork. The first time I went was during one of their opening day specials... First 50 customers half price, so I thought maybe the portions were small because of that. But the 2nd and 3rd time I always left feeling hungry. Other than portion size, everything is very fresh and tasty ... But not sure it's worth $16 for a solid lunch option.
Cindyavocado
I was disappointed with the portions the girl at the counter was stingy asf for the salmon chicken and tofu she literally just gave me one small tablespoon I paid 17.50 for the tiniest bit of fish and meat. However she was too generous with the sauce and literally drenched the entire bowl with kimchi mayo it was way too saucy. I felt really hungry afterwards so this should have been better if they hired professional poke bowl makers instead not amateurs who donā€™t know about ratios.

Amazing service and atmosphere. Not to mention delicious food at a reasonable price. We were also spoiled by the manager with a free serving of miso soup which was perfect on a rather cold day. Definitely recommend pokƩ pokƩ
