This place is lovely! The Turkish eggs were truly amazing, a little spicy but perfectly balanced with the labnah. Great coffee and just a cute overall vibe.

Oh my lord! I have a few places in Devo i like to visit for coffee, but I guess the food, service and patronage make it worthwhile. If the right guy is on you’ll no doubt have the silkiest tulip flat white, be it alternative milks or not. The house crumpets are legend and after it’s hiatus for what seems like almost a year, it is back on the menu. The cabinetry foods are certainly legit and suitable for takeaways if the need arises. Accessible for all walks of life, facilities available but may be tricky for disabled customers as there are two stairs in a tight space to ascend. The front yard is the perfect hangout for the fury friends, you might find most hang out indoors with their parents most days. Compliments to the staff, they are just so lovely. If you’re looking for a place to chat during peak hours you will no doubt be challenged. It is near impossible to hear amongst the droves. Most cafés will experience this… but this remains to be my pick.

How did we not know about this place before?! Highly recommend their 𝑪𝒐𝒓𝒏 𝑭𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒔, one of the best ones we have ever tried! Crispy on the outside, do flavorful on the inside. The 𝑯𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒂 𝑪𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒏 𝑺𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒅 is also amazing! Can't get enough of the marinated tender chicken. They are so generous on the 𝑨𝒗𝒐 𝒐𝒏 𝑻𝒐𝒂𝒔𝒕, love that there is loads of greens. I don't usually like omelette, but their 𝑭𝒖𝒏𝒈𝒊 𝑶𝒎𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒆 is actually so yummy. Definitely check them out when you are over at Devonport.

Nice busy cafe just 5 min walk from Devonport ferry terminals. The place is open and bright with a range of seatings, perfect for brunch with friends. The cabinet looks amazing with lots of sandwich options and sweet treats. The food menu is small but does have all the cafe basics and a few other “different” offerings. Good service and we enjoyed everything we had!

I’ve never tried their food, but I regularly visit to work at my laptop for the afternoon. Great coffee, very friendly and attentive staff and in general such a good vibe. I’ve had so many great conversations here with other friendly customers. Very fast and stable Wifi as well. Edit: Food is great.

I am a Lily lover through and through!! Amazing food and lovely staff nestled away in Devonport village. I normally opt for a cherry pie however the new menu is filled with must haves - I recently tried the heirloom tomato toast and I could eat it every day... simply the best (-:

Very wonderful place for a relax weekend breakfast! We went to the Devonport, the environment is cosy and bright. And the staffs are super hospitable and friendly. It’s hard to make decisions for the food because of so many choices. I would like to try another one next time~~~

We went for lunch and the food and service was amazing! We had the club sandwich, oats and rhubarb brioche and they all were amazing, coffee was some of the best I have had in Auckland. A+++++

Good coffee and food, nice to see canneles in a cafe but it's a little bit over-baked

Distance is always not a problem when it means you get to try good(fab😍) food. (I Iive in the CBD and will definitely revisiting!) Definitely one of the best cafes I have been to!! Lily and her waiting staffs/chef were so friendly hehe. Nice ambience and good lighting. Ordered some fungi omelette and smoked fish today and I would say you get what you pay for 👌👌👌. Big portion and good for sharing.

The best food in Devonport(& Peninsular) for late breakie, early lunch- Coconut porridge with poached fruit a fave , their take on avvo toast with poached egg sublime. Good honest tasty food & menu changes enough for interest. Great consistently good coffee.

I love the small, ever-changing menu - makes it easier to decide what to order and every time we return, there are new dishes to try. The food is fantastic, well presented and not your standard cafe menu.

Nice looking little cafe . Food selection was minimal. Need to improve on service as meals super slow in coming . Eggs cooked well bacon was super dry and tasteless.Priced too high for quality of food

We often come here. It's our family favourite. They are so consistent with the quality and service. It would be great to have more vegetarian options. We really enjoy the various choices on the menu. The coffee is superb... 🙂👍. The piccolo is just perfect with anything from the cabinet.

Commendable service. Even at level 2 operations, FOH were very helpful. Easy to find and many parking options available. Very sweet surroundings with simple decorations. Also very welcoming.

Food and drinks were served in a timely manner and they were great. The presentation itself of the food built an appetite. My partner felt the same as well and he is a former chef. The taste was fresh and filling.

It was great to see simple foods like eggs on toast made in a way that gave a feeling of sitting in a ridiculously expensive restaurant. The prices were affordable as well and I was very happy with what I had received.

Keep up the good work and we’ll definitely be back again.

I came here once before and had a coffee with a canelè, as I was passing through. It was amazing, I thought to my self if you can make a canelè this good. The food must be amazing. I came in today and was absolutely blown away how good the food is. I love the welsh rabbit, the scrambled eggs with chilli jam gives it that nice kick. The classic was done really well, love the mix of flavors. Everything really taste like the person who made the food, has a real love and passion for food. I eat at a lot of places this is in my Top 10. It's far for me to get here but am definitely coming back. I met the owner Lily and she one of the nicest people you can meet who is passionate about food. Staff is really polite. Coffee is really good as well

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at the Lily Eatery this afternoon.
I went there with my 14 months old baby, who has been very unsettled due to teething, I ordered a small latte takeaway, and hoping to get out as soon as possible before my baby starts screaming and disturbing other customers.
I waited for more than ten minutes, my baby was screaming his head off by that point and a latte was brought to me in a table glass. After I pointed out that my order was a takeaway, the barista just simply poured that cup of coffee into a large takeaway cup then poured more milk into it. I told her that my order was a small latte, but she just said “this is our normal size for a latte.”
A man walked in and ordered a takeaway coffee way after me and got his order in less than 2 minutes. The staffs obviously made a mistake on my order but there was no apology at all.
I went to Lily Eatery because of the highly rated recommendation given by a local friend of mine, only to encounter by far the worst experience I’ve had in a cafe.......

Came here on a good review by eatlitfood and decided to have lunch here with my parents and I on a Sunday afternoon.

We had a selection of cabinet food and coffee and was just as good as it looked in the cabinet! My mother complimented the pecan bread especially and she’s a hard to please customer so I definitely recommend this item. The pecans were very caramelised, and the bread had a great balance of sweet and spice.

Unfortunately, the service was an uncomfortable experience. When we walked in, none of the staff acknowledged or gave any indication as to whether we should sit down and expect table service or to approach the counter first then find a seat. It wasn’t busy either so we just sat on the shared table and as every individual table inside was taken. I asked a waitress if we would be able to sit at a table that looked like it was empty and wasn’t cleared. (I’m not sure if there were any personal items on the table as I didn’t wear my glasses this day and my mums eyes aren’t doing well with age either.) Without stopping, she said bluntly “Someone is already sitting there” and walked off to the counter. I acknowledge that was my mistake, but she walked off quickly before I could even apologise.

When approaching the cabinet food to see what selections they had, I saw the waitress (same person) at the cash register see my mother deciding what to eat and glared, or a better expression, just hateful. Then smile when my mother turned to face her she smiled but just as quickly drop when she turned away. When speaking to my mother she had a patronising tone ( English is not my parents first language ) and when speaking to me ( English is my first ) lacked warmth. When I asked if they had a menu after I ordered our coffee, she nodded her head over to the right and said “ They’re over there.” without moving. She was curt, almost challenging my words and acted superior, as if we weren’t the customers they wanted in their cafe. This was echoed through clearing any finished plates individually as fast as they could.

I’ve worked in hospo myself for a long time and my fair share of cafes so i understand around 1pm the staff would want to close as quick as possible, especially on a Sunday. But the lack of warmth and just basic service couldn’t compensate for the food no matter how good. I don’t know if it’s because we were the only asian customers, It was a sunday or if it was an especially tiring day for the staff but it made us as customers, like we weren’t wanted. Which was very disappointing and in all honesty made me feel sad.

I just wanted to bring my parents to a nice cafe before we went to the beach but I can’t come again.
I’ve never been to a cafe that made me feel ashamed for being a customer. I hope they improve their FOH training and be a better cafe but the first experience we had will probably be our last.

The locals have a treat here. Lily brings to Devonport Good Food. REALLY good food. Good Laughs, Good atmosphere, Good Staff. It’s rustic, it’s local, it’s the corner store that’s not on the corner, the place you go, because you know what you’re going to get is going to hit that spot. Every, single time. It’s not the first time I’ve eaten here and by god without fail I’m constantly amazed. The plate is humble, not lost in a candy of seventeen different garnishes I can’t pronounce. No, that love is inside the food. Every bite pops with an exciting wonder of ‘how on earth is there so much flavour’ and ‘what on earth is next’! I can’t give you more. You have to be there and experience. But don’t go in expecting to be crowned. The staff are way too on point and fun for that. They are what make it- along with Lily’s hands down sensational handle on flavour. You’re part of the family there and can be promised to leave with a happy belly and an ear to ear grin 😁

Went in this morning for breakfast with a work colleague. We both had the Eggs Benedict with streaky bacon which hit the spot! The staff are welcoming and friendly. The cabinet food also looked delicious.

My friends and I run in Devonport at least weekly and finish off by getting coffee. We always order two large flat whites and one large mocha (me) and we try different cafes in the area. Having run past Lily several times and thinking it looked pretty we thought we would give it a try this morning. It was well worth trying, the service was friendly and prompt and the coffee was good 😊 I definitely recommend and will be back - will look at the food next time too but the cabinet food looked so good 😊
