Best Fish'n'Chips at Mission Bay! Very delicious for a good price. Everything made from fresh fish. The staff is very friendly. A real must have at Mission Bay. Gladly again at any time!

Fresh and delicious fish and chips and seafood platter! Tasty and reasonable price.

So nice! It's so delicious. The staff is nice. If I want fish&chips, I will always come here.

I ordered 10$ snapper burger, but they were out so I decided for the trevally burger which was also delicious. Good option for a (usually quick) lunch.

A little pricier than the other fish & chip shop in mission bay, but makes up for it with really big portion sizes. The burgers are yum and chips are good too. Only downside is that they seem to always have a long wait---we waited 25 mins for 2x burgers + chips. Our burgers were also not particularly hot; they must've been sitting for some time while our chips were cooking.

Me and my girlfriend were craving fish and chips while strolling along mission bay and of course we see this beautiful restaurant selling just that and more. We were greeted with warm welcomes by the waiter who was very polite and we weren't pressure to order immediately. I ordered a snapper burger with a side of fries as well as a snapper fish on its own and my girlfriend had a snapper with wedges which overall was very satisfying and very tasty which made up for the high price. Both our snapper were fresh and you could definitely taste it. The fis was cooked perfectly with a crispy outside and was very delicious with every bite. It wasn't greasy ether compared to other fish and chips stores. The wedges and fries were cooked to perfection also and the burger to die for. The buns were very soft and fish succulent with the lettuce tomato and sauces inside. Me and my girlfriend were left impressed and amazed to how delicious and satisfying the food was. We will definitely come back here again.

My partner went here with a family member for lunch, came home and insisted we go there for dinner. Glad I did! Best fish 'n' chips in Auckland! At first I thought the portions were small, but in the end I couldn't even eat it all! Fresh and tasty, we will definitely be back!

We don't mind for the slow service as long as the food are worth waiting. And they were! We had Snapper and chips & their seafood set. Love the batter so much. Oh and not to forget, the staff is extremely welcoming and polite. We will definitely come back again and try different menu! -tourist from Malaysia

Excellent Service and Well done Fish and Chips. We ordered fish and chips and we absolutely loved the fish, My son who doesnt eat Fish almost every time we order from our favourite local fish n chip shop (ocassionally and these guys are good) tried the fish and to my surprise ate the whole thing so to me that says it all. Batter was just right light crispy on the outside and fish wasnt oily like other fish n chips iv had from many places.staff were absolutely lovely and very welcoming. Service was quick. Price is reasonable considering the location and the cost of running business in the area so this wasn't a surprise but I'm saying this too the food was of good quality so worth every cent. Will come back in future and I recommend it to all.

So yummy! Beautifully crispy chips with the perfect amount of salt, I order the snapper burger combo which was $15 and great value with generous portions. The snapper burger was delicious with fresh salad and nicely battered snapper filet. Five stars, throughly recommended.

Went here for lunch in the weekend. The place was crowded so we expect to get a good food. But the queueing took like almost an hour and the food so standard and tasteless. Not worth the waiting

Used to be great a couple of months ago but now the portions are half the usual size. I asked for an explanation but the only thing that I got was " the price of fish has risen ". I also asked for a large craft beer as they always had it for $6 but they said they had ran out of it and a bottle beer (which I could buy for $3 from store) is available again for $6!!! I was a regular customer but never going back there.
Farhang Ramezanifar
Previously it was good, but now they serve a very small piece of low quality fish, fried in dark oil!

Scam.. the price on menu at the entrance is different when you actually pay. Also they have fish&chips on the menu but trying to sell more expensive menu by telling that normal fish is out of order. Also asked the owner about what can you do about the price and his attitude was like “what can i do? The price wasn’t updated” and “you already paid?”.... so pissed off and dont think ever will come here again.

The food here was terrible. The service was good but wasn’t enough to suffice for the bad food quality. The patty tasted like oil and the lettuce was brown. Overall very disappointing

Pretty nice place for fish 'n' chips in Mission Bay. The shop looks clean and well decorated. We only bought some kumara fries and they were soooo nice. Will come back again next time for their fish 'n' chips
Luz !
I am sorry but this so oily and perhaps the frying oil was not fresh, its taste was very strong. It is very “industrial”. The fish itself was tasteless.

Best fish n chips we’ve had in years!! Food was all hot, chips were crispy, fish was super fresh, and the batter was light and crunchy. Not to mention their take away cardboard boxes made it so easy to eat. Definitely my new local.

They didn’t have the snapper fish which I usually order so we order the Hoki fish chips and salad instead. The hoki fish is $6 which is cheaper than $9 for the snapper but we actually liked the hoki fish. The server was $18 and we only received one large piece of fish but it was tasty and fresh so was worth the price paid. Busy place and conveniently located across the beach/park. Staff were friendly also and service was fast.

Was trying to look for the old popular fish n chips place untill we realised it wasn’t there anymore so came here instead.

Fish n chips were good, my snapper burger was good too however lacked in flavour. I enjoyed the gourmet buns but by the end of it they were soaking with the oil residue from the fish.

Service was quite slow I reckon they need more workers if they want to be more efficient.

Though the venue was nice, i regret going into a new eating spot. Service was nice, polite and friendly, the place was clean, prices I felt was resonable for what I saw in the pictures.

It took some time for the order to come out and there weren’t many people there, I know why it took a while to come out, it was because my burger was being charred. The chicken in my burger was so burnt, that the chicken inside the panko coating was extremely dry and not moist at all. Although the bun was nice, both my husband and I were disappointed and wished we went next door.

It does look popular but I don’t think we will be going there again

Been here twice and only had the spicy beef burger and kumara chips and found hands down best burgers I ever had. Great selection of seafood too but yet to try it.

It took forever to get ordered and served. look at the wedges, really have no appetite at all. even we had ordered some food on the menu, still it didn't allow us to add one fish chip with takeaway price. I won't go back here anymore
Vikas Basnet
They really have nice fish and chips and there gourmet burgers are damn good but my favorite is chicken burger with some chilli mayo sauce and of course there happy hours is also good deal from 3pm to 6pm from Monday to Thursday, dine-in menu with reduced prices are also good. Overall nice place to have fish and chips and burgers with a beautiful sea view.

Omg where do I start. Okay so firstly I had been at the beach with my sister so we weren't all dolled up and seeing as the other fish n chip shop in mission is closed down we had no choice. ANYWAY as soon as we were outside looking at the menu I felt automatically judged by the staff 😹😹 I actually left cause I felt so intimidated but didn't see anything else appealing so we came back. While we were waiting we joked about the amount of signs hung around the place ordering customers what they can and can't do ( eg. Can't sit down if you ordered takeaway, can't drink anything on the premises if not brought from them, and so on) for a single piece of fish and scoop of chips it was TEN DOLLARS, my fish and chip shop down the road from where I live in east Auckland I could buy enough to feed a family of four with that 😹 and to make it even worse if you wanted the 'dine in' option where you could actually sit down, you paid T R I P L E for the same take away stuff. Not gonna lie the fish was really good, and chips were alright but definitely not worth it...

Terrible service! We waited over half an hour for just one serve of fish and chips. They could have told us that the wait is long before we ordered. The staff are so slow and unbothered. They don't care about the waiting customers. The food was also super oily. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Raj G
Absolutely disgusted. Came here with my girlfriend and waited 40 minutes for our takeaway meal just for it to be thrown away. Was super greasy and oily to the point we decided to pass on the food as it appeared as if oil was just poured on top. Portion was small - seems they care more about the fancy packaging it comes in.
We waited in a tight line with people moving in and out trying to see where there orders are at, they kept missing orders and getting them mixed up with others.
Literally every person who ordered was wondering where their food was out. Place needs to be shut down there's no going back with crap owners like this. A shame as it is a prime area for a successful fish & chip shop.

Since the other fish and chips shop at Mission Bay is now permanently closed, my family had no choice but to try this out.

Portions of fish were small. Mayo dip was tasteless.
Chips were chunky, so not too bad. A bit pricey compared to the other fish n chips shop.

The waiter was amiable and attentive.

Christine Davison
Terrible. Just had a takeaway burnt chips tasting of burnt oil, we chose this place as it advertised gluten free batter which
was inedible. Never again, waste of money, very disappointing.

This place was PERFECT... only in the beginning...

I went with my daughter yesterday. I asked the gentleman staff if the fish was fresh, as I saw frozen prawns and other seafood.

He told me the fish was fresh, I asked if the hoki was fresh as the color looked off, he told me it was frozen.

I asked if the snapper was fresh, he said yes. Each piece was $9. So I ordered two. We weren’t really hungry but had to eat something while walking on the beach.

He asked if I wanted takeaway when I paid I said yeah sure.

We waited patiently for the food, it was worth it since it was cooked fresh. The gentleman brought the takeaway box to me once it was ready. I opened it up to check my meal. It looked very yummy, but burning hot. So I left it open to cool.

The staff came up and said to me with a straight angry face, “takeaway is takeaway”.

I was puzzled and asked, “so we can’t eat here?”

He repeated angrily “takeaway is takeaway.”

Then I was thinking to myself (oh yep! This g unit b**** ass n**** just offended zomato number 4 and instead of a 5 star for honesty and service you are getting a 1 out of 5 instead)

Very disappointing, for otherwise excellent service for the beginning.

0/5 for booting my daughter and myself out of the restaurant. But zomato only allows minimum of 1/5.

Great service! Portion size is awesome too. The burgers are huuuuge & the patties are hand made. Will be a regular customer here for sure :).

We drive all the way to Mission Bay from South as fams craving for some fish n chips. We were 5 then including 2 oldies (one whos obviously having hard time walking) and my 3yo kid. Twas lunchtime and most resto around were full and we felt very lucky that this one hasnt barely any customer eating so we dived in and ordered each meals. Unfortunately I cant find anything in the menu that suits my dietary needs as vegan so I jumped over the one of the resto and grabbed a vegan-suited takeaway.

When Icameback few minutes after,i was surprised that our orders hasn't arrived yet but I guess thats fine as long as the quality of the food pays for it.

My kid was too hungry and started to grab my takeaway pouch and start munching some of the chips. Immediately, we were approached by one of the male staff and told us that we are not allowed to eat this food that isn't purchased from them. I told the staff that their menu does not offer something that fits my dietary restrictions and that may I be allowed to join my family since all of them were eating here, otherwise he can offer me something suitable if theres one possible. The staff keeps mentioning about their policy that it applies to everyone and every food so to cut it short, still wont be allowed to eat my takeaway food. Fine then we decided to takeaway all of our meals and go for the open park in the beach.

I was expecting that the food quality is okay, but was disappointed as how we are shooed away. Their chips are of the same quality as every where, was expecting a bit of higher standard and taste as for its price, it does not equate the quality which fam find it too salty and the oil seems to taste like its used. The burger patties are dry and again just tastes median, cant find the distinctive taste for it to be having its own brand, just another burger down the road, the buns were also noticeably dry, and does not taste new, or is it just how it is made. My partner does this review for the food quality

Service - i understand that it may not be appropriate that I bought a different food to suit my dietary needs, but what you could have done is to offer options that would make a win-win situation between yourselves and your customers instead of just telling your customers to leave without even considering their situation.

Food quality - people expect better quality esp when they see a higher price, would be good if the chips were a bit less salted upon serve and let your customers add more if they want to. And if the waiting time is a bit extended, people also expect a more fresher quality, i believe its freshly cooked but as said above, the oil seemed to taste used.

One good thing here is that their takeaway box is nicely presented and they gave variety of sauces, partner said aoli tastes very good!

First time at mission bay for awhile this summer and you can't miss the fish'n chips near the beach. Known for it's good quality I decided to try this place since it was close to where I was staying. Everything is a bit pricer in mission bay but I think this was worth it.

I took the $10 fish and chips combo takeaway and waited for 8 minutes or so before we got the food. The packaging is very nice and portable, they packed everything into one box which is great. I ordered 2x of the $10 special and was very happy with portion and quality. Tomato sauce, napkins, lemon and tissues were given so very well prepared for people.

The fish was Hoki and was crunchy and big, no fluffy batter which is great. Chips were very fresh so you know the oil is New and good quality. A tiny bit disappointed that there wasn't much specialty in the chips being different, and they were super salty too. But overall a good meal and will definitely come back.

We always eat here when in Mission Bay. Can't fault the food or service. A little slow with the order but well worth the wait. My only gripe, the price paid, free sauce wouldn't go a miss.

Not mad, just disappointed. Asked about sauces and they promised us aioli for our squid box. Unfortunately got 2 lots of tomato sauce instead 🤔. Good service, but chips and squid rings seemed slightly undercooked. Fish was tasty but, like the other food, lacked the crispiness I look for in fish n. Chips. Would probably come back but seek cheaper options first.

Bad service. The woman serving us seemed annoyed as soon as we entered. We ordered take away but decided to stay and eat in the store as the weather turned bad. They told us to leave and that we could not eat inside, even though it was completely empty. It was kinda offensive considering that we just spent money there but were not welcome to eat inside.

Came here for a pre dinner so we ordered light. Two battered hoki fillets and wedges.

The fish was nice. Not dry and cardboard-like and the batter was nice and crunchy. I like how there was actually fish meat underneath the batter cos some places only contain batter and no fish. The wedges were standard -pretty much same everywhere you go. Price was a little up there. But they're located in Mission Bay so it's expected.

Went there with the Girl Squad, the interior of the store was pretty good, though they will charge you $2 to eat-in, so be aware if you decide to skip the green grass and sea breeze.

Although we were the only ones in the store, the staff at the counter were disinterested and playing on their phones, took a long time to take our orders even though we were standing at the counter with our cards/cash out. The two English girls asked for vinegar with their chips and the request was accommodated, so that's one positive from our experience there.

The chips and wedges were nothing spectacular, but they did give us a wide variety of sauces (sweet chilli, thousand island, aioli, and tomato) in massive pots, however, the fried fish were oily and one could taste nothing but the oil. My seafood basket had a good variety (scallops, mussels, prawns, fish and calamari), but it was a shame that all I could taste was oil.

The TLDR version:
Greasy fish, good variety of seafood, mediocre chips, disinterested staff who accommodate special requests.
Order: Fish n' Chips
It had Potato Fries and a Snapper Fry.
Verdict: It was a decent meal. Not bad nor very good either. Thr taste was more on the bland side. May be the locals love it a lot but it didn't suit our taste, so a 3/5 is sufficiently decent. Less oily and just below the mark quantity.

DIFFERENT FOODIES HAVE DIFFERENT TASTES, VERDICTS, OPINIONS AND EXPERIENCES SO, DO READ MULTIPLE REVIEWS FOR A BETTER CONCLUSION. KEEP EATING.
Tried their fish today evening. Took a special offer one. Those are less oily than other fish and chips shop..thats why liked more though amount is bit less. And good thing they provided tomato sauce.

It’s good to know that fresh exciting food is available at Mission Bay. Until late, it’s always been a bit hit and miss for me when it comes to dining, but I was happy with my

Choose your seafood from the fresh selection in the window, ask them to batter it up (breadcrumbs, panko, gluten free) and voilà, all served up in a cute little box with your choice of sauce. I had the seafood box and although I’m not a fan of crunchy batter (next time I’m going panko) the seafood was cooked impeccably. The kumera chips slightly over salted but it was easily forgiven based on the fact that they were chunky, not dry and retained the try essence of a vegetable.

The menu is varied so keen to try the ceviche and some of the mains on offer. Eat in or takeout available – and apparently alcohol licensing in the pipeline.
Worth the $ and wait as very fresh and delicious.

Had takeaways here after having heard good reviews from friends. Very quiet and don't know why. Kids had panko crumbed fish and chips and loved them - very generous with the chips - we couldn't eat them all; Partner and I had the snapper burgers - we weren't fussed with the bun (but we are fussy regarding burgers), but otherwise well cooked and again, the fries are superb; will definitely go back for the fish and chips, and to try the other seafood. Oh and everything comes in lovely packaging to carry over to the beach - lots of free sauce/aioli and cutlery as well!! Should be busier!

First tried this place 5 days after they had opened and again on New Years Eve.

First visit we tried the squid box and the snapper burger. The squid was cooked well, however the batter was too thick, overpowering the actual squid.
The snapper burger was okay minus the bread being a bit too tough compared to the delicacy of the fish. The chips were delicious and crisp, with their sauces also being tasty.

Second visit, I ordered tempura fried oysters and prawns. The oysters were okay, again, batter being a bit thick. The prawns however, were the highlight. 50c more than the oysters, they were well worth it. We were a bit wary after seeing that they were frozen after ordering, however, they were plump and cooked to perfection!

Would go back for their fries & prawns. Have yet to taste the rest of the menu!

Have twice ordered their $10 special take-away for two. The food was acceptable but the fish portions were so small in both instances that my wife and I were still hungry after the meal. We often order the same from The Sea Cow, also in Mission Bay, for the same price, the food is good and the portions are twice the size, a decent meal.
We shan't use Hook Line and Sinker again.
