Review Freaky - Auckland

Logan and Diva have a wonderful coffee shop where my wife and I shared a few flat whites and a savory and sweet croissant! All was excellent but the best part is the two of them are some of the nicest people we met on our three weeks in Australia and New Zealand. Thanks Logan and Diva for the nice experience and excellent lattes and Kai... and Harry at the four points Sheraton for the recommendation!

New fave food stop. Wonderful hole in the wall eatery with simple seating outside. Small but delightful menu, super fresh ingredients and cooked in front of you. Super friendly staff, great flavoured teas and brilliant coffee.

Freaky- where to begin? Logan and Diva serve up something so special- not only their offering, but in their warmth and friendliness. This dynamic duo sling some seriously banging coffee as well as some phenomenal food; mac and cheese is not to be missed, and the fried chicken is some of the yummiest in town. This hole in the wall, owner operated spot is absolutely worth checking out if you haven’t already. Excellent kai, excellent coffee, and excellent humans. Love ya long time Freaky x

One of my favourite places in Auckland!! Love the fried chicken and salad and the Macaroni Cheese special is just like Mum makes it!! Amazing coffee, great food and such a good vibe!

Best breakfast combo in all of Auckland CBD! A perfectly made coffee plus the yummiest soft bap filled with scrambled eggs (that are made in front of you!) plus caramelised onion and some other "oh la la" sauce... and all for $10.50. Highly recommend Freaky for great coffee, fantastic food and friendly service.

I've had lunch here essentially every day since I found it. It's in a beautiful little spot with lovely ambience and the food is delicious. The lemonade they have is perfect for the summer days coming up too!

Suuper cute hole in the wall brightens up this corner of the city. Good coffee, great looking food (yet to try, but I will!), and awesome staff. Good prices too. They do discounts for students and if you bring your own cup, and check out their instagram for competitions (who doesn't like a free coffee now and then?)<br/>They are so friendly and welcoming and have such a great vibe. I wish I was in the city more often so this could be my local! Feels good to be supporting a small local business too. <br/>Love your work, keep it up!

A small coffee shop that sells some bomb food! I came here because it’s the closest place for me to go to get some doe donuts and they ALWAYS sell out at Freaky when I go on Fridays! I absolutely love the donuts they’re super soft and chewy and they always have the best flavours! <br/><br/>I also got a coffee which was also great! The only thing is that it’s a little more on the expensive side for some coffee but it’s well worth it for a treat! I do really want to try their sustainable cookie cups as well if I ever forget a takeaway cup ☺️

In absolute love with freaky! These spots tucked away are becoming excitedly popular and with good reason. When people focus on making good food that’s when I get excited about reviewing!<br/><br/>I initially came for coffee one day, got the batch brew and tried the cold brew. I’m not a coffee connoisseur but have started to get into my black coffees i.e. I’m picky and I found theirs to be smooth and delicious. It also means the caffeine doesn’t hit me as hard. <br/><br/>Then Saturday morning I get the breakfast bun and coffee deal and holy hecka.. that bun .. caramelised onions and that soft egg and just everything was so friggin good. Logan you’re a flippin star. <br/><br/>The ham and cheese toastie was so good. Love how the egg is sitting there all ready for me to get that runny yolk shot. I love toasties so this was an easy win for me.<br/><br/>Fried chicken - yes! Crispy, light batter and juicy chicken. I need more mayo but on the side so I can dip the fudge out of it. Just an opinion.. haha. It was busy for these guys so a bit of a wait but still worth it. Love seeing businesses thriving. The vibes are always good and there’s music playing. Diva just gives a familiar yell when the coffee and foods ready for people to jump up and grab it. <br/><br/>They sell Doe Donuts on Friday’s and I got the PB & J. I couldn’t friggin stop myself from indulging in it.. dangerously good. Sharing is suggested. <br/><br/>There’s even a garden going on here, silverbeet, lemons and cute birds tryna get some kai too. I love what Diva and Logan have created. Their small space has created a multitude of comfort and keeps us customers moving which is good for the central location.<br/><br/>As someone who loves the idea of smaller spots to hopefully one day be able to afford a space but not have to think of impending expenses, freaky gives me so much hope that these spaces can thrive because their food and aesthetic effort is really worth it 💕

Very impressed with this little gem on Wakefield street. Ordered the fried chicken with salad of the day which was beetroot and carrot. good size portion for the salad but i think could do with a few more chicken pieces. Staff very friendly and efficient. Paid $10 for the chicken + $5 for the salad. Will come back for the Mac and Cheese which I have heard good reviews on.

This cafe has good food and good hot chocolate. They have edible cups available which is a vanilla biscuit. You can reuse it as well, I made another hot drink, and then at it. Pretty much a mea in itself. Mac and cheese is good and creamy, I had chicken added. I think it can be eaten without it, it’s that good.

Had a friend recommend this place. Glad they did cause otherwise I would have missed out on this hole in the wall gem! Had the fried chicken and mac and cheese and it was legit. The mac and cheese could have had a smigen more salt but I like my stuff salty so could just be me. Will be back for sure!

Fresh, delicious food! Visited this place a couple of weeks ago and I've been craving their food ever since. The freaky fried chicken and their mac n cheese were just so unbelievably good 10/10!!! Coffee was amazing too I ended up getting 2! Freaky is the hidden little gem in the heart of Auckland city!

Nope. Tried the food, didn't like it, my burger was pretty plain and nothing special. Coffee also average at most, tried twice and it was way too hot and burned both times.

Best coffee in town, and the friendliest service in the southern hemisphere. Don't miss out on their breakfast buns. With nothing over $13, it doesn't get much better than Freaky.

Gardens are good, especially urban gardens. Out the front of FREAKY is three-tiered urban garden, lush, verdant and soul-uplifting.<br/>It used to be a catchment for bourbon and coke cans and oversized ash tray.<br/><br/>Now it is evidence of care, of the young owners, yes you can taste it in their fresh cooked on-site food, the excellent coffee, but for me, the difference of this place versus other in the hood, is that garden, lush uplifting and generous, a gift for the hood, like the cafe itself.

This is my go to work lunch whenever I’ve got enough time to walk up Queen st. That chicken burger is soooooo good it’s fire yo 🔥🔥🔥🔥 and the staff are super cool and chill

All the food is delicious and with really fresh, good quality ingredients. The Coffee is great and the staff are so friendly! Def recommend.

Don’t be put off by the parking situation. I double park outside at least once a week for my coffee/ sometimes food, and am greeted with the best customer service Auckland has to offer. The food is super tasty and for fried chicken I never leave feeling greasy. The vibe is cool and you can get yummy moochi balls next door as a treat. Logan the chef always lets me taste his new treats he’s working on - always scrumptious. YUM I love it there.

Serving up some of the best coffee in Auckland. Their barista is friendly af and remembers your order! Their fried chicken is insanely good and their salads are sourced direct from their cute little garden, hows that for farm to table! Will be back for more fried chicken and their salad of the day very soon.

It’s FREAKY how good that fried chicken burger is. Simple yet delicious. Just an all round great spot for a bite if you’re in the city. Killing it guys!

I love the fact that you can be sure that the food is super fresh and tasty! Superb service: Diva remembers how I take my latte and Logan is brilliant in the kitchen. I can personally recommend the granola, croque monsieur, chicken burger, falafel salad and fried chicken salad! It’s all delicious 😋. Great to see the garden with fresh herbs too 👍🏻

<br/>On a crisp winters morning, I wandered down to Freaky with a heard of young lambs. We got rounded up by this Shepard called bagdad. Bagdad got shoved around by this hairy chested bully named Bigboss. Big boss insisted we eat some of young gooses food, we obliged and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Chicken burgers on point, coffee mint.

Finally a place serving home grown, fresh and healthy food in the CBD. Happy to accomodate with something other than cows milk which is awesome! The Falafel and hospitality is first class. Can I give more than 5 stars???

Straightforward menu with some healthy choices. The granola was very tasty and full of fresh ingredients. The burger bun was crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The salad ingredients were nice and fresh and they were very generous with the sauces.

Best spot in Auckland CBD. Get the fried chicken salad.... you won't regret it. The coffee is always fresh and the team are second to none....

Such a little gem! The staff are lovely and give the place a sense of community. The fried chicken with salad was divine, the succulent chicken goes so well with the crunchy, slightly sweet salad. The coffee is good too! If you need more, they even have composting for their packaging and coffee cups - it always drives me crazy when people have innocent packaging but no compost options (as they’re not home compostable) so it’s fantastic to see this

Saw this spot had just opened up and it was right by my uni. Never tried a Croque Monsieur but always wanted to and figured I should try it today! I did not get disappointed at all, the bread was crisp, the sauce was creamy and deep and the ham was very soft. Beautiful combination and only $9! So bloody cheap for the quality and convenience. The sandwich will fill you up. Staff were very lovely too! My new go-to spot during the uni semester!
