Review Gusto Chicken - Auckland

Visited Gusto Chicken last week. My first time trying South American style anything, so was looking forward to this one. The owner/chef is one of the friendliest person I've met so far. Sensing my confusion, he explained everything on menu to help make up mind. The chicken is their go-to and make sure you try the array of sauces that GC has to offer. Chicken was nice and juicy even when we ate ours few hours later; full points there. The seasoning was perfectly balanced and not too hot. Loved the yellow pepper sauce...it's got a nice late kick to it. While I was waiting for my order, the owner gave a sample of all their in-house sauces and even a nice juicy chicken drumstick. I'm sure sold on Peruvian hospitality and food. Next on list would be some of their other offerings. And yeah, the chicken went perfectly well with a nice cold beer... Gracias 😁

I've been searching for some good pollo ala brasa - charcoal chicken since returning home from Peru. Gusto Chicken finally answered my calling. The chicken and seasoning was very delicious and the Aji salsa - yellow peppered creme sauce, was also a must to add with my dish. Nice chips and a light salad served on the side. I'd highly recommend stopping in at Chef Nico's Gusto Chicken, and make sure to try more than just the burgers.

Deliciously moist chicken , fries were so good too! Absolutely loved the sauces and recommendations, burger was absolutely perfect, churros were crunchy and perfect and the owner is so lovely! Can't say a bad thing about this place

Those who visited Peru will remember those delicious charcoal chicken all around the country. We sure did and missed it a lot after returning to NZ. We were so excited to come across Gusto Chicken by chance and man! As soon as you walk near the place, the beautiful charcoal smell took us right back to streets of Urubamba, Cusco, Lima... The setting, the theme, the kitchen and of course the owner. It's like they just parallel transported one of those chicken shops to Kingsland. The chicken was exactly how we remembered in Peru. Beautifully charcoaled, tender meat falling off the bone. The flavor went all the way from skin to bone! It's heavenly! I wish they so the delicious chicken risotto soup and the chicken fat fries rice like they do in Peru. Seriously you can't say you tasted charcoal chicken unless you have one of Peruvian ones. We would definitely go back over and over again! We also recommend every to go and taste their chicken, you won't be disappointed! We want Gusto Chicken to stay in business for as long as they can, so we don't have to travel far for our Peruvian fix.

Owner was great, chicken was juicy . My burger combo was $18 with a drink . Very satisfied after, you gotta get that Gusto sauce , tastes real good .

Had the chicken salad, nice moist chicken, good salad. And had the Patatas bravas - chips with a spicy sauce - pleasant amount of heat, that said I'm not into hot hot food. Good to see recyclable food containers including the the sauce pottle. Will be going back for seconds and trying the chicken sandwich.

Ate here today. My mrs is from peru and we are home on holidays and she felt like peruvian food. So we decided to check this place out. Chicken was delicious and the mrs said its exactly like home. Owner is a top bloke and would go here everytime i am back. The chicken is so tasty and falls off the bone. Highly recomend.

The aroma of this suculent charco chicken take me clearly back home ...flavours and portions size are awesome . Chicken is juicy, crunchy hot chips and fresh salad higly recommended !

Great Salchipapas, just like in Peru and possibly even better. The added Tari Sauce on top was also fantastic. Next time we’re coming for the whole chicken. Gracias Nicco

Very simple menu but the charcoal chicken is excellent, he has like a dry rub under the skin and it’s slowly cooked over charcoal! Will comeback for sure.

Great chicken! Came here quite late at night around 9:30pm and was super surprised the chicken being that great at that time. Succulent with great flavors. Get their sauces! It's amazing

As delicious as the sauces were, these tiny tubs for $3?? Overpriced.<br/>Also forgot to give me my sprite.<br/><br/>Not sure I would come back.

Amazingly flavoursome chicken, done by absolute pros, each bite was crazy succulent and bursting with flavour. The chips were cooked perfectly with an amazing spice sprinkled on them. Not to mention the dipping sauces were unique and were a perfect compliant to the whole meal. 5/5 coming back

Delicious chicken, no disappointment there. Sauces are also very unique and of course great service and a very friendly owner. Worth everyone’s visit to get the true taste of Peru!
