Review Fukurou Patisserie - Auckland

This tiny shop is located just in the courtyard of the Newmarket train station. Friendly and helpful service despite being manned by only one person. The may be a wait due to popularity. Absolutely love the thinness of their crepe and the flavours are so authentic. Love it also because it isn't too sweet, just right. Well done to the chef and recipe.

We always get these for birthdays because you can customise your cake to have different flavours so everyone can choose what they like. I like how the pieces are individually wrapped so it’s easy to just take a piece out without getting your hands dirty. Beautifully presented and the flavours are all YUM.

Went in for dessert at around 6.30pm. The lady serving was very nice & welcoming. We had the vanilla & tiramisu cakes with large hot chocolates. It's warm and cozy which is perfect for a winter night date. The cakes are so yummy and soft. The layers look so pretty. About $7.80 for a piece but I think it's worth it for the taste, presentation and the work that goes in to making them. The owl decor is very cute. All up it was about $25 for two people (we got large drinks) Highly recommend as it's something different.

Had this as a surprise cake for my birthday. We had the chocolate crepe cake but was told there were lots of other flavours like durian and matcha. It also looked like you could get the cakes by the slice rather than getting a whole one. We had one pre-ordered and picked up. The cake itself wasn't iced very well, the finish was quite rough and uneven, particularly down the sides. But once you cut into it you see all the layers that were used to make up the crepe cake. There was even different flavoured/coloured icing between a few layers. The cake itself tasted nice, quite soft and luxurious. I was disappointed that the plaque was made from fondant and not chocolate. It was quite a nice cake and a bit different from the standard ones.

I brought the Matcha Redbean crepe slice (Left) and the Durian crepe slice (Right). Both of the slices tasted great, with the durian slice tasting slightly sweeter than the other but not overwhelming. The lady at the check was very nice. Would definitely come back to try a different flavor next time. 🍰🍵

Durian cakes are very yummy! Delicious. If you like durian, it's a place must go. If you don't like durian, you can try other types of cakes, like strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, tiramisu etc.
Grace Qiu
Absolutely LOVE their crepe cakes, love how you can choose different flavours instead of just one big same flavour cake! Would highly recommend checking this place out, their crepe cakes taste great!

It was my first time trying durian bomb dessert, a bit rare at the beginning the so sweet after. I just can say... It was rare but delicious...
Neda Farrokhi Afshar
It is a cosy and clean place with so delicious crepe cakes! We celebrated one of our friends' birthday there. The lovely lady made a beautiful cake for us. We had a great time there. Definitely recommended!

Soft and moist Mille Crepes with correct level of sweetness. Not the best, and layers could have been even finer. Staff was friendly. Only $7.8-8.2 per dessert is a bargain.
Caroline Martín
Amazing cake and service! Smooth and perfect flavour, I bought a birthday cake with 4 different flavours: Tiramisu, chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. Love all of them, difficult to decide which one is the favorite. Thanks a lot!

Best crepe cake in Auckland! Sweet and cosy little cafe, a nice spot to have a cake and chill.

Delicious crepes. Must try

This is our second time dining out when New Zealand relaxed its quarantine restrictions for the Corona outbreak. It feels like freedom after being locked down for a while so me and my wife splurged out and had a date staycation away from the house for a change. First item on the itinerary was this Fukurou Patisserie as she was craving for some Mille Crepe for quite some time now and this is one of good and popular places to have it.

These cakes are a real treat and unique. An example of a shop keeping to what they specialise in and doing a great job at it. Absolutely worthwhile going as a destination shop for a treat. Faves are Strawberry and Cream, Chocolate, and Tiramisu. They sell out every day (we live nearby and walk over after dinner from time to time), so go early if you want choice! Friendly owner, and loyalty card also worth having for a free cake :)

The durian crepe cake was probably the best I’ve had in Auckland. The flat white was just ok as the beans were little bit too sour. Would be back for sure.
Dora The Food Explorer
Cute little place tucked in the Newmarket train station complex. Good selection of Crepe cakes available. We got the vanilla and Matcha and Red Bean ones -delicious, fresh, soft and light. Matcha latte was also great. The place can get a bit packed and they don't have a lot of seating available but great place to stop by for dessert or morning/afternoon tea snack! Really good service too!
Rachel Luo
had the durian lover crepe cake today and honestly it’s the must have for durian lovers. just simply durian as filling and it’s not too sweet.
Mr. T
Friendly service. Each flavour was very distinct with a good amount of cream between each layer of thin crepe. Personal standouts was the black sesame, tiramisu and durian. Highly recommended.
Bella Qian
The crepe cakes from this place blew my mind. I haven't found any other place that can even compete with their crepe cakes. There are flavours to cater to everyone's liking. For those who haven't tried it before, it's just like a cake but arguably much much better.

Finally got a chance to visit this place. I had the durian bomb crepe cake myself and the flavour was really nice. I also like the texture of the cake. Well presented as well.On a side note - please clean the drinking glass as most of them was not cleaned properly (I will leave it at that)Taste - 4/5Value - 3.5/5

Yummy cake and friendly service always

Nice cake. Not too sweet.

i’ve been wanting to try these crepe cakes for a while now after seeing the reviews and i definitely wasn’t let down. we got the strawberry and tiramisu ones and both were amazing. i loved how they weren’t too sweet or heavy with cream. i’ll definitely be back to try other flavours!!

Challenge of making crepes cake is it MUST same thickness, evenly spread the flavours whipped cream on crepes. In Malaysia, it call thousand layers cake. To make this.. you need "Kung Fu". Thanks chef, appreciate your patient, please do keep this standard and I love your cake.
Asianfoodie
The best crepe cake I have come to eat in Auckland. Location is a little hidden but totally worth a trip to Newmarket to try. Recommend tiramisu and the choc trio!!
Jeannette Salim
This little shop is tucked away by Newmarket train station. When I went there were not many options left, I managed to get the last slice of Tiramisu. The cake was creamy and delicious, but slightly overpriced.
Bruce
Such a pleasant place to have a beautiful Mille Crepe cake that is so delicate and delicious but it's not too sweet. I can also enjoy a flat white while dining there. The Strawberry, Chocolate Trio, Tiramisu are lovely but in fact, all the flavours taste so good it's hard to know which to have. Well worth a visit to this popular place in Newmarket.

Love the teas

One of the best dessert crepe cakes in Auckland. We love their original and durian crepes cake. Durian is always sold out, so order in advance. About $8-12 per slice. We usually order to go. Place is quite small.
Vivian C
Popped by last week an hour before they closed and they had already completely sold out, so we came by a week later as soon as they opened and had a range of different flavours to choose from.

I got a Strawberry crepe cake for myself and a Durian one for my mum, both to have at home. The strawberry one was light and filled with normal cream and strawberry cream with actual strawberry pieces in it. It wasn’t too heavy or sweet, which was great. My mum thoroughly enjoyed her durian piece as well.
Pig Cat
Love the French Vanilla, Tiramisu, Mocha and Durian flavor mille crepe. So rich and milky. Just right sweetness and you will never get sick of them even after finishing a few pieces. Especially the French Vanilla which is original flavor but not boring.
Carol W.
We have been there so many times. The durian cake is my favourite. They also have chocolate, matcha, coconut, which are also deserve to try. And you could get 1 free after 14 times purchase.
Sharon Louie
Mum got a slice of tiramisu crepe cake and black sesame crepe cake from Fukurou. I’ve always passed this bakery and I’ve been in there once but I never got anything from there. I tried a bit of both crepe cakes and I prefer the tiramisu cake over the black sesame. I still really enjoyed the black sesame cake. I felt like the flavour of the tiramisu cake was so delicious and strong, compared to the black sesame cake. It was literally like eating a tiramisu. Both crepe cakes were fresh and weren’t too sweet, which I love since you can eat a lot of it as a result. Presentation was lovely. I’ll be back!

My goodness!!! I think this is by far one of my favourite cake/dessert in Auckland. I love the durian flavour and I love how colourful they are.
Joy Eats
Cute little shop near the Newmarket train station. The lady’s serving me was so nice and the crepe cake was absolutely heavenly. I got the tiramisu flavour and it was so good. Highly recommend.
Doris Ma
Got a durian crepe cake and thought it was the best durian dessert I've had. They put a lot of durian in it so each bite was durian heaven. The crepe layers were delicate and the thin layers of cream complemented the creamy durian well. Best of all, it wasn't too sweet!

This shop is a real shout-out for millr crepes' lovers. The crepes are super super good. Not too sweet & and just right to my taste, not mentioning they have so many options for you to chooise from too :). I tried the matcha and durian ones and both are all beyond my expectation. Fukurou is now my favorite desert place :)
Brandon Brooks
Excellent cakes are to be found here, lovingly made in the 'mille crepe' style. A variety of flavours to enjoy, including French vanilla, tiramisu, black sesame, and even an Earl Grey and Apple one that I tried today and loved. They even have a durian bomb, for those who are fans of the 'king of fruits' 😁

This is a favourite hangout of mine, thanks to the quaint and comfortable atmosphere, the owl themes, and definitely the friendly and welcoming service.
KhloeKhloe
Best layered cake in Auckland. We tried the famous Lady M in LA and it was no where near Fukurou. Recommend duran and green tea flavour. Service is good too, the girl at counter is always nice and patient to any questions.
Chantel Silliloto
I like the strawberry 1 the others not so much..
The durian smelt and tasted like an off refrigerator lol... maybe its an acquired taste. As for the matcha it was ok but i probably wouldnt order another cake from here unfortunately.
Lucy
Yummy little pastries shop for making crepe cakes. Their crepes are well layered with the right amount of cream, sweet but not overly rich. And there is a great amount of flavors to select from.
Recommend the strawberry and chocolate flavor if you prefer sweets. The green tea and sesame flavors are lesser sweet if thats what you prefer.

Food: 10/10
Food presentation: 8/10
Service: 8/10
Location: 6/10
Ambience: 6/10
Price $8

The mille crepes are very soft and yummy. Like baby thin pancakes. But important to choose a flavour you like! They are quite like sometimes I add my own freshly whipped cream and more sweetness to give it an extra boost in taste. But that’s just me I like sweet things. Tried the choc trio today and it was just made to perfection, it wasn't even filled with sugar which was a plus point and the lady at the counter was friendly too. Definitely coming back for more flavors!

Hidden away cafe near Newmarket train station that offers yum layered cakes.
They have different flavours to choose from. Very friendly owner who will cater to any needs. We order several different flavours to put together as a birthday cake.
Airan
Love this cake shop. Used to live around New Market so got the chance to try out all flavours. My personal favourite are matcha, black sesame and durian. One day I forgot I got the durian flavour cake and brought it to the office, had an awkward moment as I had to explain to my colleagues it's just a piece of cake, not chemical weapons. Try it if you passing by, the location is super handy, you won't miss it.
Jenny @ga.eats
I’ve tried a few flavours now, but nothing beats the durian bomb, which is literally THE bomb. Seriously. The perfect amount of durian, sweetened whipped cream and crepe. Such a light dessert, yet so rich and creamy... drool. This is actually comparable to (possibly even better than) the famous Lady M, which I was able to try in Hong Kong.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A downside I must mention is that their loyalty cards are a bit rubbish. You need to purchase 12 individual slices before you get a free one. We bought a whole cake once and was told we couldn't get any stamps. When my card was finally almost full, I was told they had updated the cards and didn’t transfer my previous purchases even though there was no expiry date written on it. It seems like they don’t care about customer loyalty, which is a shame because I do love the cakes.

I still get their cakes but no longer bother getting a stamp card.

Super nice survice and best crepe cakes. Slightly expensive but acceptable. Have already been there so many times and will still go back for it.

The only shop offering Mille-crepe style dessert I can find in Auckland. Have tried three different slices/flavours and all were great. Will be back many more times in the future
Flora
Definitely the best place in Auckland to go to for crepe cakes. If you love durian, their durian crepe cake is the best I’ve tried. It’s really yum! Other flavors I would recommend are the original vanilla, chocolate and the pure matcha one. Tiramisu is pretty good too. I stop by here every time I’m in Newmarket and would recommend to everyone who loves cakes!
Lillie
Very nice cake, the crepe cakes were very nice and thin, the different flavors with each cake was very present. Very nice ambience and service as well.

Reminds me alot of Japanese style cakes. Attractive to look at, not too sweet, lite and airy. Only had slice of choc one, wasn't exactly cheap but worth it for once in while treat.
Omkar Shinde
We tried strawberry and choco trio which were very delicious ! 😋 Choco trio is too sweet but awesome, I loved it. Strawberry is sweet and tangy and totally yummy ❤️ I would definitely recommend this place to everyone.
Shalene
Excellent selection of cakes! Tastes just like the ones in Malaysia. We take away a slice at least twice a month. Must try - vanilla, durian and chocolate! I’ve also ordered a whole cake which was so yummy!
Alvin Ang
Ordered 4 flavours. Personal favourite was Matcha and Sesame. Surprisingly good. Better than Lady M in my opinion. Price is reasonable too. But they don’t have many seats available. Will come back for sure.
Bear Noms
We tried the durian and the green tea with red bean flavours which were both delicious! Good amount of flavour without being too sweet. Worth a try!

One of my favourite desserts is 千层蛋糕, which literally means thousand layer cake or crepe cake and I was absolutely ecstatic to find it in Auckland! These cakes are made lovingly with layers of crepe and cream (which would take such a long time!) and comes in 8 or 9 flavours, including chocolate, matcha, strawberry and even durian. Sometimes there are special flavours such as earl grey!

I’ve tried a few different flavours (black sesame and French vanilla is pictured) and love them all. The customer service is always friendly, however there isn’t much seating available.

You can either dine in or takeaway.
Lima
It’s a lovely small place! The cakes are delicious and the staff is so kind to you. The price is fair and they have a lovely coffee. Next time I intent to try their tea.
It’s worth to go to this place before taking your train.
Jsmi
Would give 5 stars but whenever i go there they only have 2-3 flavours - I’ve yet to try the matcha flavour :c
The actual food is amazing though, just wish they had a better selection of flavours
Tony Shi
Never imagined a crepe could taste so good!
Each slice is made from 17 or so crepe sheets and in between the delicious filling. It's like having a cake however much lighter and more pronounced flavours.
Highly recommended to everyone especially those with a sweet tooth, you won't be disappointed.
Cashier was very friendly and welcoming.
The owl decorations around the room were cute.

Food: 5/5
Service: 5/5
Environment: 4/5

The place is in a strategic location, just opposite the new market train station. Ordered the matcha Mille crepe cake and durian Mille crepe cake. The matcha one was abit too sweet... I still prefer the Mille crepe durian cake!
Jason Zhang
This is from a 21st birthday cake which we ordered. A cake which allows you to combine different flavored Mille crepe cake slices together to make a whole. In this there’s strawberry, matcha with red beans, durian, rum & raisin, coconut malacca.

The flavor of each mille crepe cake was very distinct and it wasn’t very sweet that you’d get sick of. You would feel like eating this as much as you can as long as you have the stomach for it. A personal favorite would be the strawberry which has a sweet and a tiny bit of sour taste to it, and the matcha. The durian flavor, although doesn’t smell thattttt good, tastes amazing as well.

The texture of the crepes was strong in keeping its shape, and soft when biting it.

Taste - 10/10
Price - 9/10
Size - 9/10

I came to this handy location cake shop at Newmarket and brought two matcha cakes home, they were a bit of over sweet and price is a bit high

A lovely Japanese cafe hidden away in the heart of Newmarket. Upon entering their small but cosy cafe, I was immediately taken in by their decor. They had a good selection of mille crepe cakes and beverages. I ordered the matcha akizuki crepe cake with a green tea latte while my companion ordered the durian bomb cake and a latte. Not only was the food satisfactory, each item was reasonably priced as well. We were both satisfied by our orders and definitely will visit again.
Khloe
Delicious and delicate cakes. Great service. If only the dine in area is bigger and more comfortable. No air conditioning so a bit hot in summer time.
Cynthia Agustin
I’ve always seen this shop when I pass through the train station but I didn’t realise it to be a hidden gem. The Durian bomb is just amazing - will definitely return to taste the others.
Heidi
I got the tiramisu and chocolate crepe cake. The price on zomato is outdated. Both cakes were $7.80 each which is extremely expensive for one slice. I don't like coffee but I still got the tiramisu but my brother told me it was good. That's why i prefer the chocolate haha not biased what so ever 😂😂..
Angela
Been here a few times now and ordered my sisters birthday cake from here. It was around $80 for a variety of flavours - very tasty! Only complain is that we were only allowed certain flavours and they didn’t allow even distribution of each flavour as some were more popular than others (so we got less of them). Other than that, friendly service and excellent cake!
Rosanne Choy
I've tried all their cake flavours and chocolate trio is my favourite one. It is covered with chocolate flavour but isn't too sweet. The perfect mixture of cream and chocolate put into one crepe cake 😍
Slksim
This cake shop is awesome! Clean place Tasty cake good for value. Great customer service! The cake is layer upon layer is more time consuming to make compare to normal cake but the price is about the same as normal cake. I highly recommend this place to give it a try if you feel like eating special kind of cake. Also there are many tasty flavours to choose. Five stars!
Food Explorer
A bit pricey for a slice of cake, but I love their durian flavour and Sesame flavour. Always friendly service~~ Green tea flavour is also recommended...
Jess
A spontaneous trip here on a Friday afternoon did not disappoint. I had heard many good things about the durian bomb crepe cake, and after one bite, I knew this would be my go-to place to satisfy my durian cravings. Although my friend did not like the durian flavoured cake itself (she cried after her first bite 😅), the texture, aroma and taste reminds me of the actual fruit! It was heavenly and reminds me of home! Luckily for my friend, we also ordered the black sesame crepe cake which was more up her alley. A little pricey for a slice at about $7- $8- but worth it for the experience.

The location of this place was very nice as it was off the main streets of Newmarket Being in the vicinity of the train station, accessibilty was great!

The premises is very small, approximately seating less than 20 people at any one time. However there is plenty of seating in the square, so take advantage of the fresh air and sunshine!

Customer service was ok. The lady that served us was hidden away out the back and we had to wait a while before she realised we were wanting to order. But other than that, she was helpful in aiding our decisions on which cake to choose.

Overall, I will no doubt be coming back in the near future- to satisfy my durian cravings as well as being adventureous and trying the other flavours.
LilMSunshine
This ever so popular place is conveniently located at Newmarket Train Station. Only a small cafe but a good range of coffee, teas and their specialty; flavoured crepe slices. There's always a crowd at the cafe any time of the day and mostly sold out. Good service and one of the best crepes place in Auckland. Ordered Durian crepe as the rest were sold out. The slice was meticulously made and selling at $7.90/slice but worth the price. Keen to try more flavours ☺

I was more than excited to head here. Since coming back from Japan I missed easily grabbing one of these at any pastry shop, even 7-11.
The flavours are amazing and so hard to decide between. So of course I ended up getting 3.

I'm not one for a loyalty card, I don't drink coffee and always have an excess of cards in my wallet. But a loyalty card for their slices holy moly I'm in heaven!
I got the Matcha & Adzuki, Durian Bomb and classic French Vanilla.

My debit card was glitching I had so many questions but the lady serving me was more than lovely. She answered all my questions even made me feel less like a dork with my card issues and let me make an online bank deposit instead.

The French Vanilla was light and creamy. But in my opinion could had had more of a vanilla taste.

The Matcha Adzuki was earthy with the matcha and I loved the bits of red bean. The texture was a great addition.

But my favourite had to be the Durian Bomb. I love durian and this did not disappoint. The smell the flavour and creamy, custardy texture of the filling was very similar to eating a fresh durian.

I will be coming back to Fukurou Patisserie and they have made a loyal customer out of me!

The lady who services us is always friendly and the mille crepe cakes are delicious. Durian flavour is my favourite. This time they offer new flavour pure matcha, I like its bitter taste. Don't miss it if you are matcha fans.
Ravi
The service is so friendly and helpful. She asked me what do you want to have. They have delicious cakes as well as Coffees. The cake flavour range is quite broad.
Dxlche
Their tiramisu crepe cake is the best crepe cake I've ever had. The crepes are perfectly layered and the cream tastes delicious too. Not too sweet but the tiramisu flavour is there throughout. As you can see by the sides the cake has been well executed.
Well worth the try when you find yourself walking past Newmarket train station.

If you want a different type of dessert / birthday cake, this could be your place! A layered crepe cake with lots of different flavours!! Light and not too creamy!

My favourite is definitely the durian crepe, if it's your type :p also really like the coconut sugar flavour as balances out the cream well. We ordered a cake for our friend made up of 8 flavours, good variety.

They also open til 8pm which is nice if you feel like a dessert after an early meal.
W.H.Y.
The best crepe cakes I've had! My friend knew that I loved them so much, he brought nearly all the flavors for my birthday~ There were about 20layers in it, and every single layer was thin, even and soft. That was amazing! As a chocolate lover, no doubt, chocolate was my fav.

Fukurou Patisserie is a "must go" dessert place whenever we come to Auckland, seriously this hidden gem makes the best mille crepe cakes we have ever had - and we have had a lot of mille crepe cakes. . When Fukurou first opened it's doors about a year ago it was pretty much unknown to the world. However, when we returned a year later, it was packed with people queuing up to get a bite of their sweet little treats.

I remember coming here one time and thinking I was at the other dessert parlour in High St. But no, this is one of the most unique parlours I've ever been to and their Tiramisu is to die for. That rich sweetness on your cheeks when you eat something sweet, felt good to have that feeling again after a long time.

The staff over there are really kind and friendly, always pulling those warm smiles. Luckily it wasn't busy by the time I was there, a place this good would be really busy but it in the morning the time I arrived.

Going inside it looks like and ordinary cafe with a Japanese taste/vibe. Their display of food are plenty and with a large variety too.
Sarah Ding
One of our favourite dessert places in Auckland! They do the most amazing crepe cakes. So far we have tried vanilla, tiramisu and matcha. Would definitely recommend the tiramisu one but they are all delish! Need to go early though as sometimes they run out by dinner time
Jan
Recommend coconut and Earl grey+apple cake. Beautiful texture, subtle flavor, melt in your mouth delicious. Bought cakes from the shop to all my friend s and family, everyone have been praising the delicate lightness of the cake.
Jess S
Was craving for layer cake, and decided to go here based on Zomato's recommendation. Order the green tea cake and durian layer cake - YUM! Really good, flavours are on point, but its quite overpriced. Location was quite tricky too, since Google Map only directs us to the train station.
Kieran Hoolihan
Ok so I'm not the biggest cake-guy in the world but after trying some of the chocolate crepe cake here I think I can now safely say I am now a 'cake-guy'.

This was the nicest piece of heaven I've had in a long long time and compared even to other desserts this takes the....cake. I read some reviews of people complaining about the price at $7.50 a slice, but the way I figure it is you have about 20 layers of crepes in this thing. Can you imagine frying up 20 crepes for each flavour and then doing that twenty or thirty times so you have enough for a few of each cake in different flavours. Considering that combined with the delicious flavour (I had the chocolate) it's totally worth it.

Service was really good, no complaints there. I had mine takeaway and the box she put it in was really nice.

All up an awesome experience. Best dessert I've ever had. Seriously.
Jennifer King
Got the birthday cake from the place couple of months ago. It was awesome. It tasted quite unique and special. It's not that creamy and got 8 flavors
to choose from! It pleased every guest in the household. Highly recommended!
AJ
Been here countless times, and have tried nearly all the flavours by now. Favourites are the durian bomb (a must try for durian lovers!) and tiramisu, but it's really hard to choose! Just the right amount of sweetness too. The lady is always friendly and although we mostly go for takeaway the packaging is good enough that the cakes never fall apart. Hot chocolate was average. Overall, highly recommended!
❤️Irene
Lovely little place hides in Newmarket train station~ Love the cake here❤️
We heard about this lovely place a lot from my friends. Finally we visit today. We have ordered Green tea flavour and Durian flavour. As well as earl grey tea~
The taste didn't let us down. Personally, I don't like very sweet dessert. But Fukurou's cake is just tasty! I really recommended other go and visit here

A new little dessert store located at Newmarket station square selling cake slices and hot beverages, I've only try the gleen tea latte and must try the cakes one day. Site use to be 2 sushi shops B4 (Kobe Station was 1) and both close down, i tink this one will succeed.

OKAY, finally got to try a French Vanilla crepe slice and lady told me to eat this with a cup of tea slowly for full enjoyment. Very nice too with just rite amount of sweetness, set me back $7.50, and deserve this for the work involve in preparing this.

I'm always a sucker for sweets, especially desserts which seem way beyond my capability of producing. Crepes can be a finicky art, and with a minor error in ingredient ratios or cooking, it's easy to end up with ones that's more holes than crepe, or with a texture that can be ruinous to the structural integrity of a crepe cake. Fukurou's crepes are light, thin, and soft, yielding easily to the cut of a fork and remain upright, which is an incredible feat for this delicate dessert.

I can't lie in saying that the prices are a bit dear. The selection can also be somewhat of a hit-and-miss, as the flavours can be so delicate one can easily mistake them for each other. Nonetheless, after having only been a couple of times, I can easily declare my favourites to be the Tiramisu and the Matcha Adzuki. The particularly adventurous should also try the Durian Bomb; I may not like durian, but I can appreciate the hardly-so-subtle fragrance and flavour that they've incorporated well in the cake.

It's definitely not a bad place for sweets. But, while I can appreciate the artistry behind it, I can't say I'm all that particular to the dessert.

After hearing so much about this place, we finally made our way in. To be honest l found this place quite overrated!

The shop is tiny and it's quite dark and uninviting even during the day. Can definitely do with more lighting.

The dessert itself, well it seemed like a good idea. However we found the flavours just don't work as well as they would in cakes. The crepes layers just simply not enough to soak up the fatty creamy texture of the moose/cream spread in between.

Personally l still prefer proper cakes. But the girl who work there was friendly and helpful. If you haven't been there, l will still recommend to give it a go and make up your own mind. Unfortunately it's not my cup of tea.

Just grabbed a piece of black tea cake on the way back home, although it's a bit expensive for a piece of cake but it really worth its price! It's not that sweet with a mouth full tea aroma.

Amazing crepe cake. We love the flavoured and creamy taste. We had a tiramisu, durian and original. The gals love the durian taste. Would love to come back again and highly recommended pastries shop.

One of the best mille crepe i've had in Auckland! Strongly recommend if u r in the New Market area. The shop is tiny and sometimes they run out of seats. But i've tried having the mille crepe as take away and they were still very tasty after i got home.

I ordered the durian and the matcha red bean. What i noticed at first was that they used real durian and green tea. Most cake shops just used essence and extracts but this one uses real ingredients and you could tell from the texture and delectable smell of the cakes. One is more than enough to fill you up but i couldn't resist the temptation of trying these two.

Fukurou Patisserie specializes in mille crêpes (or crêpe cakes). These cakes are built with layers of paper-thin crêpes and flavoured cream fillings. Though not quite a thousand layers as their French name implies, they are still impressive at 18 – 20 layers. Mille crêpes have taken Asia by storm, and these delicate desserts with their caramelized tops have finally arrived in New Zealand.

This place is worth going to. A little cake shop by the train station complex. The staff is friendly and make you feel welcome.
The cake are very dense and one slice can definitely fill you.
They have a reasonable range of cake to try. Good for small groups especially for late afternoon tea.

Lovely cake and lovely staff.
It's a petite cafe shop just outside the newmarket train station. The place is just calm and quite, but customers never stop coming. Also they only have 1 staff, but she was so nice and friendly. Def will come back for the cake👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Had the thousand layers French vanilla cake which tasted really nice! Had few other flavours such as tiramisu, durian, etc. The staff who served was very polite. Would go again!

Best mille crepes in Auckland, not the far off from lady m in new york. But their coffees were very good. I hope they can use better coffee beans.

Bought some of the Crepes home for my family to try. I had chosen French Vanilla, Choc Trio, Tiramisu and Durian Bomb. French Vanilla is the best taste among all the flavors above. If you are a durian lovers, would recommend you to try the durian bomb as it tastes like having the real durian fresh. The staff is friendly and kind. Even help to ensure the Crepes' box is wrapped tightly to prevent it getting drenched by rain. Cute interior design with their signature owls.

Bought some cake here for my mum's birthday as we both love Durian and Fukurou's "durian bomb" is so well-known! The presentation of the cake was lovely and the owner was able to put on additional decorations on the cake as per requested!

When I saw the cake I thought it looked quite small compared to the photos! However when I had the cake, the size was perfect as it was really dense and creamy and you might feel sick if you have too much.

It's on average $7 for a piece of cake, which I thought was quite expensive, however the cake is really special, living up to the French and Japanese fusion idea! I could taste all the textures and the cream was so smooth. My favourite was actually the Macha and red bean one, as it's creamy but not too overwhelming as the red beans gave it some sweetness.

Overall I would visit again but I hope the price can be a bit cheaper!

This place is a must go if you love cakes! The woman who served me was really nice and friendly. A good range of delicious cakes to choose from. If you like durian, try the durian bomb. You will be blown away!

Cake was quite nice, different from other cakes I've had the texture is very different. It's nice to try different types of desserts so I would recommend to try this place out!

This is a new entry into the dessert scene. Situated in the Newmarket train station atrium, so its a little tucked away. I came here after seeing a friend post a picture on Instagram. They specialize in mille crepes and have a good range to choose from. We picked a matcha green tea one and also a cappucino flavoured one. Both were amazing in taste. Though I would of prefered if the red been the matcha crepe was cooked a little down more so it was mushy and soft like the crepe, rather than weird texture contrast. I think perhaps I got my slices near closing time, but, it felt like the cream wasn't very fresh. I will be coming back to try the other flavours though. You can also buy it as a whole for occasions too! They will even decorate it for you complementary.

Food: 3/4
Drinks: [will update]
Service: 5/5 (lady who served us was nice and welcoming)
Atmosphere: 4/5 (decor is nice and cozy but, tight)
Value for money: 4/5

Bought two pieces of cake to takeaway. The lady was very nice. Packaging was good, the cake stayed in one piece. We got chocolate and green tea. Loved both flavours, not too sweet and had many layers of crepes. Will definitely will go back to try the other ones.

The search ends for the ever elusive mlle crepe cakes. Layers upon layers of deliciousness ALL found in this place. I know it's popular overseas but not so here and I have been wishing that it would actually pop up! AND THIS PLACE IS THE ANSWER TO IT. I know other places that served it but they all hold no torch to this place.

I really loved the flavours. There were the vanilla, coconut, cheese, tiramisu, green tea and more? You thought that after layering the crepe it would taste really rich and heavy but it's so light, fluffy and moist. Service was excellent and friendly and she gave me some suggestions as I had trouble choosing what to eat.

Definitely will come back for the rest of the flavours... Durian was my FAVOURITE! Best if you are sharing amongst like 5-6 people. All of my friends loved it! We all had our favourite, which was between tiramisu and durian. Will be back. Must be back.

A recently new place that I have found within the Newmarket train station square. The patisserie had 8 different flavours of cake from classic French vanilla cakes to the exotic durian cakes. The cake itself is made from layers of pancake inserted with cream/mousse and stuck together layer by layer. The boss there was friendly and bubbly while introducing her products, the cake prices were a bit pricey from $6.90 to $7.50
Would probably try again in future but won't go that often. Macaron was added by myself Coz I had some mini ones left over...

Fukurou Patisserie is, as far as I know, the only cafe in NZ specializing in mille crepe cakes. And boy was I thrilled when I heard about it! I’ve always been in love with mille crepe cakes – they’re pretty unique, consisting of layers and layers of thin crepes stacked on top of each other with various types of filling in between. Also, they take a notoriously long time to make, and they have always been incredibly difficult to find around these parts. Despite being made out of crepes, they tend to be more popular in parts of Asia, not so much in Caucasian countries.

Fukurou is a new shop located in Newmarket train station square, which serves variety of patisseries with different flavours, like durian, coconut, cheese, chocolate, and mocha. I ordered a slice of durian bomb, which has some fresh and rich durian and cream between each layer, very delicious!!!

My first time going to this place was when they had just opened a few days ago and I tried the matcha cake... it was so so good. It wasn't super sweet which I liked and the layers of crepe was fluffy. The next few days I bought one of their trio chocolate cake and their tiramisu! My mum loved it. Will come back again and again when ever I'm craving a nice treat for myself :-)
