Thought I'd give this spot a five star as I see a lot of bad reviews for this place giving it an unfair star rating on Google. This place is great dunno what people are complaining about. They have some really cool different pieces you can't get from a st Pierre's for example. Yummy snapper and sweet n sour chicken pieces.

Pretty good sushi - well above average for Auckland. Had "Crispy fried Salmon skin", tried, thinking it would be 'fishy'. Nope it tastes like "crispy fried pork skin" by itself, but comes with a sweet chilli sauce which is reasonably hot. Loved it, want to go back and get some more some day.

We love this hidden gem. The very best chicken teriyaki Udon noodle soup. The broth is just perfect and its a meal on its own.

Their Tonkosu Ramen is the best iv had in Auckland. The pork is smokey the egg is maranated😍 the soup is authentic the noodles are delicious.

Lovely range of sushi. Love and recommend the black and brown rice pieces, special sushi (eel, tuna, prawn) inari salads, onigiri, beef udon and spicy pork don. The ingredients are always fresh, and the salmon pieces and other ingredients used for assembling sushi are always very large and prepared in generous portions. <br/>8/10

I love this place... crispy chicken with salad was delicious.. healthy serving size.. very filling and good miso.<br/>Next day ordered Teriyaki Udon with fried chicken + spicy.. made to perfection.<br/>Healthy options. DELICIOUS.<br/>

Great food, nice staff. The sushi is a little bit bigger. Great if your looking for a healthy and fast on the go option. Not sure about cleanliness. Otherwise awesome place to go to would fully recommend.

Sushi is pretty good, I normally buy the salmon and avacado ones. Taste is pretty similar to any other sushi shop of their type. The size of the sushi is bigger than your average St Pierre's sushi and tastes better.<br/><br/>For a period of time they had a D rating, it went back up to A a month later, so not sure what that was on about.

Better than I expected, especially like the brown rice sushi. Am surprised there's even tuna sushi in Blockhouse Bay, what a tummy surprise!

I had the hot dish - Teriyaki Tofu Don. My friend had the same but with salmon. We ate in. Amazing. Top quality in my opinion. Good portions, lots of veges and the tofu was well done. I've paid much more for the same quality at more expensive Japanese restaurants. This place is a little gem for blockhouse bay. Sushi was pretty impressive too. Highly recommended.

I ordered takeout last night from here. Two vegetarian dishes.<br/>I won't be back, the portion sizes are very small not worth the cost of $24.00 for both. A small plastic bowl is provided for take out but the bowl was not even filled to the top. Basically paid $11.00 for a noodle dish which was just that, hardly any veges and sticky noodles, they needed more sauce or something and the dish not even 3/4 full. The other dish a salmon dish with rice was nice but mostly rice.

Best sushi in Auckland hands down! Friendly staff that are always welcoming and helpful, fresh ingredients (love the innovative ideas in the cabinet) and great location. Great to see a nice A la Carte menu also :) highly recommended!

Beautiful sushi here always fresh looking and inventive.<br/>The hot meals are delicious too, tofu don, teriyaki chicken and chicken curry which my eight yr old loves.<br/>The service is friendly and welcoming. The cafe is very clean. Love it!

My absolute favourite sushi shop! Everyone is so friendly, and the sushi is always fresh and delicious. I love that there are some really cool and interesting types of sushi that you can't find anywhere else, and they have great loyalty card deals.<br/><br/>Ever since I moved to the Bay I've thought a sushi shop was needed, and I'm so glad that Mai sushi was the one to set up shop!
