Review Prague Bar - Auckland

Makayla Morgan
Giving you five stars, simply because your staff member Kelly made our Monday evening an awesome experience! She greeted us with a cheerful surprise as we were walking past the bar and her amazing instantaneous service that she delivers on both a professional and personal level, had drawn us into the bar and we had one of her specialties (espresso martini) - definitely appreciate her as she has the most amazing customer service and any bar would be extremely lucky to have her! Love from Makayla and Brooke, 27/2/17, 7.00pm ✨💫✨🍾

Cozy little place. Not great variety. Very friendly staff

Lovely little local bar. Good service and friendly staff. Have been enjoying their $6 bubbles on Friday evenings.

Fantastic tapas...the tequilla battered onion rings are superb. Great atmosphere and a very authentic looking Prague style bar. Friendly staff too!

Nice small bar with friendly staff. Jugs are a good value. Too bad the kitchen for tapas closes at 9.

Great little place to drink and with a lovely outside area. And they got specials as well on weekends. Stella on Tap 🍺.

A pretty good bar with a nice and friendly staff. They have good meals options and the trivia night on Tuesday is really fun!

A few Sunday afternoons spent here, having good service, food to nibble on and a pint of goodness in my hand. Nice and casual for anyone to enjoy.

A very cool bar in the suburbs. We had some finger food to share and wasn't too bad. However I thought the fried chicken was slightly burnt. The meatballs had a super yummy sauce and I couldn't stop using my bread to swipe up all the sauce. Other than that, service was friendly and had a really nice pub feel :)

Had a yummy lot of chips n chicken nibbles after our Indoor Game in Sandringham. Nice vibe. Friendly Staff. Awesome that they do happy hour $6 Wines too. Thanks Team. Decor is awesome. And that Marble looking roof the bar lady pointed out.

The place is cozy and have a nice rustic interior. Prague it is. Staff/cashier is nice and friendly. However, the tapas we ordered are terribly salty: salt & pepper calamari & Cajun fried chicken. Mozzarella & feta melts is tasty. The servings are too small for the price.

Before Lord Kitchener came to being this was the only place ruling as a bar around Sandringham providing a place to unwind and chill with couple of drinks. I am sure they have had a hit after the other place came up. I really like how it looks from outside, it makes you want to go in and check it out. I like their outside seating a lot not so much indoors. They have specials on tap beers and bubbly which works well for a quick one after work sort of day.

Absolutely abysmal service and food. Not sure how they stay in business. Ordered fried chicken and falafels tapas. ( both deep fried) falafels tasted awful. Door to smokers area left open so main bar filled with smell of smoke. Such a shame the little bar has so much character. Staff eating their dinner behind bar.

The only place in Sandringham exclusively designed to make you unwind with drinks and nibbles... To ease you along this noble endeavour, the ambience is suitably bohemian: french-cafe-stye chairs and tables outside , interior seats looking out through large windows perfect for viewing the world and passing niceties, and even a semi-al-fresco space protected from rain while still having enough open air to permit poisoning with ciggie smoke. Fried squid tentacles, Cajun chicken, Falafel - all these are decently rendered snacks which are in no danger of making you forget your drinks. I got introduced to the fruit-accented persuasions of fine beers such as Hoegaarden and Cloudy White here, while receiving very late intimation of the shocking fact that NZ rules permit only a 30ml pour of vodka per serving : no wonder so many folks are worried about the state of the nation. Staff are pleasant though and life acquires renewed meaning with refills. Garlic prawns also help this reaffirmation of faith, aided by their fresh succulence. There are no main courses here (large burgers don't fit the definition) but that's a forgivable valency considering the vital need that Prague fulfills in this area.

Nice, cool & soothing ambience, very courteous & polite, good service, highly recommended on Thursdays, Fridays & weekends, too cold at times

Have wanted to check out Prague for a while and I've discovered it's the perfect little place to have lunch and catch up w. a mate or two. The bar staff are great and they had a really good play list on. A mixture of original jazz tracks and funky renditions. We ordered a couple of cokes and sat down to a mixture of sharing plates. Some Cajun fried chicken, prawn popcorn and falafels w. varying dipping sauces. All good, all bar snacks, but that's ok as we were just peckish. Ideal pl for a mid week winter catch up, if you want to get out of the cold and have some quick tasty bar snacks. Note: there were also burgers on offer for lunch but we just weren't that hungry.

This is a really lovely little corner bar. They have an awesome fireplace and during winter, THAT'S my spot to sit around and enjoy my drink. Very charming.

Went there in a weekday afternoon for drinks with workmates. Tried at least 4 different cocktails, tasted nice and very good price as well. Lunch wasn't that impressive but worth going there for drinks.

We went here on a voucher Tapas deal. Despite not having to make a reservation, I booked almost a week in advance for a friend's farewell lunch. When we went on the Saturday, they were incredibly busy as two of their chefs were unexpectedly unable to work - which I understand is a difficult situation. What disappointed me was the service and how the situation was handled. The staff member we spoke to was flustered, rude, dismissive, misspelt my name completely and closed the kitchen telling us to come back the next week which was extremely embarrassing. They offered us a round of complimentary house drinks which was nice I guess.

When we returned the following week, staff were more pleasant. The tapas were good but not amazing. The overall experience was thoroughly disappointing though after reading such great reviews, we will not be returning here any time soon.

My wife & I went her for my birthday & were immediately greeted by a warm & inviting ambiance.
The service is first class and very friendly.
The food was excellent (My wife had the corn fed chicken & I had the sirloin steak).
Both were cooked to perfection and served with a smile.
We will definitely be returning.

We stopped into Prague on a whim for a drink and were very pleasantly surprised by the entire experience.

The service was fantastic, friendly staff who are very keen to make sure we were happy, but without being at all obtrusive.

Ended up ordering dinner there also. I had the osso bucco rissotto with gremolata and it was fantastic. Highly recommended, especially on a winters night.

There were no tables available as it was quiz night, but they made room for us at the bar, organised some bar stools and the quiz master let us join in the quiz half way through - just for fun.

Will definitely be revisiting this little gem.

Great food, friendly staff, very informal. We had the pork belly squares with mustard sauce, mini fillet steaks wrapped in bacon and the blue cheese wontons. Make sure you go there during happy hour. On Saturday it has double happy hour from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. 2 tapas plus huge serving of fries for $20. Selected beers and wines are $6.

The sauces in particular were really good, and the value was good too. Book ahead because it is tiny inside and there are not many tables, so if it is busy, you wont stand a chance of getting a table, but you can still eat and drink at the bar.

What a quaint little place this is. Much smaller than I expected so would be very tight if alot of people turn up at once. They do have an outdoor area but you would want to be wrapped up warm during the cooler months. They had a lovely warm fire going in the main area. Not an over abundance of tables so if you were planning on eating with more than 2 of you it might pay to book.
Tapas were lovely, blue cheese won tons the highlight for me. Prawns have plenty of flavour and calamari was good too. Expected more from the pork and eye fillet from how they looked on the menu but nice just the same.
Drink prices are reasonable and they have a few happy hours during the week.
The staff were great. Super friendly, happy to chat and in such a small working area really organised. Thank you chef. Not a single Gordon Ramsey moment :):) Dont know how you keep such a small kitchen sooo tidy, and all in full view of some of your punters. Very tidy, efficient, highly together bar staff and Hal? owner I think, was a pleasure to meet, even briefly. You should be very proud of your staff.
Thanks for the opportunity to try your place. Without these vouchers we would never have heard of you or considered coming such a distance. But it was well worth the visit. All the best.

I had an online voucher for 15 plates of tapas to 4 people. I brought 4 people with myself making 5, and by the end we were all full up to the brim! The place was busy inside and outside ( where we sat) with heaters. Food was excellent. Our fave were the freshly made churros with hot chocolate sauce at the end! Blue cheese wontons, risotto balls, prawns, squid and all dishes were up to par and the servers were lovely and pleasant. They served it to us in rounds which made it easier to keep up with! Only suggestion would be to have slightly larger plates to eat off individually. We felt they were a bit more like soy sauce dishes than plates! Defo recommend this place

We booked and went on a Wednesday night.
Altho the food was luvly - the service was really bad and spoilt our experience.
They were running a voucher special and had heaps of people packed into their wee space - the kitchen was rushed off their feet. We waited over 40 mins for tapas, and then we got em ALL at once - 15 plates of food dumped unceremoniously on our very small table in quick succession. The waitresses solution was to suggest we took some home and then handed us a plastic container so we could pack our own doggy bag right there at the table :(

Wonderful service and atmosphere. We ate from the Tapas menu, Thoroughly enjoyed all that was served, highlights being the mini eye fillets, blue cheese wontons, and the pork belly. I look forward to the next time.

Went to Prague Bar the other night and the service was great, friendly staff and excellent tapas especially the mini eye fillets wrapped in bacon, pork belly & salt n pepper squid. Good size portions too. Relaxed atmosphere with cosy fire place and an outdoor area as well. The bar was quite busy and fun with good people. I look forward to going back to this little gem in Sandringham.

I came here for tapas and drinks last night with my boyfriend and am hooked. We had the arancini, olives w/ crostini, bread and dips, calamari, mini steaks, churros and a choc-lemon creme brulee which wasn't even on the menu, and everything was perfect. So delicious, great service from the two girls behind the bar, great atmosphere, I could not fault it. Also, all that food (it was a LOT of food) plus a lot of beer and a shot, only came to $113- great value for money. Can't wait to go back to try everything else on the tapas menu!

It is really pleasing when a place meets your expectations. We had been to Prague for a few drinks one night and as the service was excellent and the menu looked attractive. We headed back for tapas a couple of weeks later.

The food does not disappoint with the standout being the Salmon Rolls with Dill and Caper Pesto for me. Pricing is also reasonable and they always seem to have a number of drink deals running.

Worth a special trip to find.

Beautiful atmosphere. Good quality food and very relaxing. The service is great, Good portions.

We (3) had great tappas here. Small, intimate bar. Will go again.

Excellent food, as I was gluten free I was a little nervous what it would be like, was delighted . Thought the waitress was most helpful, unlike the woman behind the bar - Not great customer service. I am glad I ignored her abruptness and went on to enjoy a brilliant meal. Would recommend and refer others.
