Review The Waterfront Bar & Grill - Auckland

Cozy place with generous prices: a large cup of cappuccino comes only for &3, and they added a couple of marshmallows 😋 Interior is tidy and welcoming, the staff is great!

Went on Friday evening for dinner the food was good even we got complimentary chips from the staff, but few things was served cold because of not enough staff I believe because only 1 girl was serving to 9 people and other tables too. Highly recommended for food and specially duck. Advice for restaurant owners that you guys badly need experienced and enough staff.

Went on Saturday evening and ordered Lamb shanks which was just amazing and cooked to perfection with an amazing service and deserts also good, will try to come back again. thanks

Lobster tall is just awesome, will surely be back soon for the other dishes.

After completing the Devonport Marathon, everyone was quite hungry. Walking past we spotted this place and thought worth a try.<br/><br/>We were very surprised that the place was almost empty despite a few thousand people wandering around outside. Finally we got served and gave our orders for food & drinks. <br/><br/>A couple of us had ordered the iced chocolate, to me it was more like essence of iced chocolate. We also shared the same idea again, and had the Pirate Breakfast, hash brown, cream mushrooms, scrambled egg, toast, and a minute steak. Well again our opinion was agreed, the minute steak was mainly a glob of fat with very little edible steak. The scrambled egg was watery, and was not quite a bright yellow we expected. The toast was four pieces of different types of brown bread, and a extremely small piece of butter.<br/><br/>One of the other diners had the French Toast, and commented that the banana's were not cooked properly.<br/><br/>If visiting the area, walk on past, there are plenty are plenty of lovely restaurants & cafe's in the area.

Do not go here!<br/>No one was in the restaurant and We ordered pizza bread and about half an hour later it turned up with our drinks!<br/>The pizza bread was only cheese and was soaked in oil, the base would not cut.<br/>Our kids burger had 1 leaf of spinach at the bottom and the chip were burnt.<br/>No one was in the kitchen and we had to ask for our food.<br/>If I could I would rate this a 0

As much as I tried to enjoy the food I honestly could not. I ordered the chicken schnitzel. It was very bland and dry. Had only 6 people on my table and it took one hour for them to bring out the food and their excuse was “it was busy” when there was quite literally 3 tables that were occupied. It’s a shame that they can’t produce good quality food with the beautiful view that they have.

What a disaster. We came here as a large group of 10 people on a weekday night having booked in advance and ended up being the only customers of the evening. We had high hopes for this place as we had all really enjoyed Dixie Browns which occupied the premises prior to Waterfront. <br/><br/>Food 0/5: Only 1 person out of the 10 of us said they enjoyed their meal. The burger was atrocious, cold, dry and tough - even the fries were cold. The fish was bland. The steaks overdone with gravy, and had no vegetables as described on the menu. Pizza was clearly something that was bought from the supermarket. <br/><br/>Service 0/5: Considering we were the only table there the entire night, it took about an hour before half of the meals came out, followed by the other half over 20mins later. Seriously, half of us were finished before the others had even received their meals. The waitress was trying her best but knew nothing about the menu. Really needed some training. And her English wasn’t very good which didn’t help. Also gave the wrong meals to people.<br/><br/>Ambience 5/5: Lovely place, nothing has changed since Dixie Browns left so almost seems unfair to give any credit to Waterfront. <br/><br/>Such a shame about Waterfront. I sincerely hope they can change things around - otherwise I can’t see them surviving much longer.

Came with a group of 7 family members on a trip to Devonport for the day and were sadly disappointed. The waitress was unhelpful & what seemed to be “stressed” with only 2 tables in the entire restaurant. We were then served what looked like “poo water” in a old glass in replace of an Irish coffee - no whipped cream, no decoration, just what looked like watery instant coffee on its own. The food which took a very long time, was also very disappointing with no one finishing their meals and all leaving still hungry and dissatisfied. To top it off, there seemed to be a bee’s nest close by to their outside seating area so was continually harassed the entire meal by 2 bee’s trying to join us. Only reason for the second star on this rating was that they offered a 15% discount off the bill. Although would much prefer to pay full price and enjoy in the experience and food. <br/>Do not recommend.

Had an ostrich burger first time. you guys rock the show. I won't promise to come back as we came to Newzealand for a visit but cheers and good luck.

Came here in a group of 9 to have a family lunch while sightseeing in Devonport.<br/><br/>From the outside it looked very promising. However, the experience was a very big disappointment.<br/><br/>Firstly, the waitress knew absolutely nothing about the menu and couldn't answer any of our questions such was what's in the seafood chowder or if we can get a cheese pizza made. She seemed quite annoyed at our questions however we had dietary requirements that we needed to be careful about.<br/><br/>After our 40 minute wait 2 out of 9 meals were brought out and then 2 minutes later we were told those actually aren't our meals and need to go to another table. They were then taken to someone else... Absolutely appalling. Then a meat pizza was brought out instead of the vegetarian one we ordered.<br/><br/>Eventually our meals were brought out and we got to eat. None of us enjoyed this experience and it definitely put a damper on our Devonport experience.<br/><br/>Would not recommend.

Mövenpick counter:<br/>Unfortunately this was the worst ever milkshake!<br/>Very small serving put into a large takeway coffee cup?! Then a lid placed on top with no straw. <br/>No understanding from staff at all at what a milkshake should be. Further fail with no evidence of a lime flavour whatsoever. <br/>Expensive, small and very poor attempt at serving a milkshake. <br/>Please educate your staff. <br/>Long queues of unhappy icecream customers also.

I took my family from England here for Boxing Day lunch unfortunately we waited an hour for our food, due to the fact our order was forgotten and it seemed there was nobody in the kitchen. When we asked about our food there was an argument between staff. Unfortunately when we finally received our meals the food was cold. I feel for the wait staff as they did try as best as they could. In the words of the young waiter “this is a joke”
