Review Momotea Albany - Auckland

Nicole Medina
Food is great as always, especially their crispy chicken pieces. Price is significantly cheaper and have bigger portions.
Sam Tomas
Tastiest food!! Best fried rice on the planet++ immaculate service!! Well done chef! Props to the chicken always cruncy! Excellent!! Thank you x

Great to see Momo Tea still alive at this neck of the woods! The service was great here and the food came out fast and our waiter was spot on. The chicken knuckle, salty fish fried rice were all classics and up to standard but the tofu was on the sour side already - so wasn't fresh at all. All in all will come back but please serve food that is fresh 👌

Best thing about this cafe is that it opens until midnight, most nights. Good selection of bubble tea and noodles.
Kristine E
Mee goreng was nice & saucy, tofu and deep-fried squid a bit too chewy. The hot taro milk tea was placed in a plastic cup, and was actually quite hot, hotter than the teas I have had at some cafes. Impressive!! Nice quiet place for lunch on a weekend. ٩(◕‿◕。)۶

A family restaurant or a place where young people love to visit. The pearl milk tea is popular and you can choose from a range of favours.

As visible on the picture ( :D ) i had a really tasty boba! Will come back to try more of them!

For many years, Momo Tea has been our go to place for celebrations! We love to take the kids for bubble tea! Always delicious and always a good time. Recently after a visit, we thought our daughter had left her kobo reader behind. I ended up speaking to staff who did their best to find it. In the end, Kevin the manager went out of his way to help us and found the clue we were looking for- our daughter hadn’t left it behind at all!!! Anyways, this review covers years of our enjoyment at mono tea and in particular celebrates the good intentions and care they have for their customers. Thank you Kevin, and everyone at Momo Tea. 😃

Went here last night got pad Thai and bubble tea, after they closed down they’ve gotten better and the new chef cooks better… the pad Thai was massive good for a group of 4.. they have improved now. Will definitely my go to late night snacks

You get what you pay for, and unfortunately you gotta pay for everything here. But if you're gonna eat, you may as well eat well Try the Apple milky tea, but maybe skip the pearl... tho it's worth at least a dollar.

Ordered through the phone many times during level 3. Service was very fast and pleasant! My favourite was the Salt and Crunchy chicken pieces and taro milk tea. Will definitely be back, keep up the good work :).
Kate
OMG! The noodles I ordered went bad. It looked like a leftover all mixed from yesterday. So disgusting!
Tian Sweetly
The taste of garlic ribs is average, but the portion is quite large. There is a lot of beef in dry fried beef noodles. Overall it is good.

4.5 ⭐️. Momotea has been our weekly family tradition for the last three years. The best milk tea I have tried (and I have brought from quite a few different places). I also haven’t found a place that does better Pad Thai and Laksa. So full of flavour. They are happy to add extra spice and make any of the dishes vegetarian. The portions sizes are huge! They use to do an amazing chicken curry as well as curry puffs; however the curry is no longer part of their menu, the prices have also increase quite significantly, and the curry puffs are now just the pre-frozen ones you can get at the supermarket. Hence why I can’t give them 5 stars. However, the staff are always friendly and welcoming, the service is super fast and the atmosphere is chilled and relax. Momo is will always be my favourite.

Open till late. All good to just order drinks. I wanted to get the black sugar milk tea with pearl but unfortunately the drink was not available as a hot drink, so I changed to the most popular drink which seemed to be the peach nata (another cold drink). It was sweet with bits of fruit jelly inside along with flavoured ice. Service is quick and you get exactly what you order.

We felt cold inside. I'm not sure if it's because of air drought or air conditioning on the ceiling 🤔

Many sofa seat surfaces were worn out but very comfy to sit on.

I liked Beef Fried Rice Noodle.
Spicy Wonton was a big piece and had a strong peppery flavoured soup.

The cup available for the water was not clean enough having a trace of 💄 on the rim.

The serving guy looked freindly with a smile.

I'm looking forward to trying other food in the menu.

I am not sure if there are other Bubble Milk Tea Restaurants in Auckland but if you are looking for one the only place that I can suggest is Momo Tea, so far the only place I know here in New Zealand. They are located in at least 4 locations I know, in Albany, Auckland CBD, Howick and Mt Albert. Having said that do I really need to find other places that sell this bubble tea? I guess not! Momo Tea already is good in satisfying any bubble tea cravings that we may have, they serve great food and I love their place specially the Albany branch which is so clean.
@C
Taste: 4/5. Portion 5/5. Staff 4/5. Malaysian Fried Rice is nice. Singaporean Noodles is nice. Chicken wings is nice. Only negative I heard is hygiene, but didnt notice anything unusual.
Kiwi Eats Asia
Unfortunately, we didn't check the Zomato reviews before we ate here. This place is not like the other Momo Tea stores, the prices are the same (on the expensive side for milk tea places that sell food) but the quality was disappointing. We ordered Hainanese chicken rice which was dry and had no flavour. It came with yellow rice (chicken stock, the chicken juice never touched it I assume) and missing delicious sauce (they serve with soy and chili) essentially it's missing all elements of Hainan chicken. We also ordered Singapore fried noodles. It was better but flavour wise, it was not authentic at all. Not coming back here again. Not at all recommended, please learn to make the dishes you say you're selling.
Lala
Both the quality of the food and service are average. The food is also quite pricey considering the serving size is quite small compared to other Asian restaurants where you would pay the same price.
Chao
Nice milk tea tasty food and wonderful service. They have got planty of new drinks and they are awesome, and it is even better when the price is cheaper than other places, and can also buy one get one free cup. Devil Pearl milk tea is awesome, worth a try!
Jack Feng
Very tasty, good environment and service as well! Love their milk tea, got planty of flavours and different kinds of toppings, and the meegoreng is the best!

We usually come here for their food, not so much their drinks. They do pretty good cumin beef, lamb, chicken and beef sticks $7 for 5pieces. Our go to usually is their black pepper chicken cutlets on noodles soup or rice. Their portion is massive for &15. Don’t expect good service, practically non-existance. They also charge 15% extra on public holiday.
Dana
Momo tea used to be one of the best tea places to go. Now there are so many tea places around North Shore area, and not so unique anymore. The drinks are quite average, but the plus side being that food and numerous types of drinks can be enjoyed at one place. The price is relatively cheap, but the standard of drinks follows the price.
Selene Nguyen 🌸
Came here after road trip before, it was fully packed. Food and drinks were both average. Waiting staffs also assume everyone asian are chinese and keep speaking mandarin to us when we already signal couple of times.
FoodieBeast
A late review. But this place was good when I initially started going early this year.

All of a sudden they start giving you random dishes and say "that's how we make it now". Not sure if their original chef is not there anymore or if they had a change of ownership. Do not recommend it.
Jason Bouwman
My partner and I came here for lunch. We didn't expect much, and were a little surprised to find an updated menu (not what is on Zomato 14/10/18) with about $3 more on all dishes.

What we got was MUCH bigger plates than they used to have. 1 dish is almost enough for 2 adults! The food is fairly good too and is well worth the price tag.

The seats are worn down and the kitchen staff a little loud but you can't expect much better from a Momo.

The food was served quickly, but the drinks could be a bit better. I've had much better milk tea elsewhere.

For a very satisfying cheap (and large) meal in an actual reataurant, you can't really beat this place for Asian food (considering the price).
Ayaan Shaikh
Love the bubble tea here, food is mediocre, nothing special, although they have increased their price for the bubble tea to 7.50 with pearls which is bit higher than what you would get at your local gong cha. Otherwise would recommend for the bubble tea, probably give the food a miss.
Moochi
Dropped in to order a milk tea. Witnessed a staff member licking a spoon and then proceed to continue making drinks with the spoon! Absolutely disgusted and wont be coming back!
Angela Yu
Their bubble tea (Original) tasted like it was made from yesterday’s leftover pearl, the pearls were all swollen. I drink a lot of bubble tea so I know. Also, 9/10 of the fried chicken (鹽酥雞) we ordered were fried chicken bones with very little meat! If you wanna reduce food cost this is definitely the worst way to consider in food business because people can tell straight away. I will never visit this Momo tea shop again. No, thank you.
Its Me
Open til late got a smoking deck ish can not complain ! Cheap Asian drinks & foods and they still come take your order and bring your food but some utensils and stuff you need to help yourself.. I been coming here for a while now it's always warm in there when it's cold and cold in there when summer time comes around ! Cool right? Food is jist avarage but if you wanna have a sober night out this is a good place !
ㅇㅇ
I used to love their chicken fried rice as the portion size was really generous and was delicious. When I visited recently and ordered the same thing, the chicken inside the fried rice didn't taste real, it looked and tasted more like a blended chicken cake. Their pad thai was pretty average too.
Sharan Rayilla
We ordered pork and cabbage, mee Goreng (ordered spicy but they ended up getting me a very mild dish) Bland food totally disappointed waste of money would never recommend anyone we had like 2 dinners because of these guys lol
Delaney Bertrand
I usually love momo tea so tonight I decided to go for a Sunday cheat meal. I ordered my usual sliced beef fried noodles, which I have eaten so many times it’s embarrassing. Drove the 20 minutes home, I start eating it and have my mouth feel like it’s dying a thousand deaths. I cannot handle spicy food, like I will not even touch sweet chilli sauce, and this was so hot!! I don’t understand why they made a dish that doesn’t have chilli or spice listed in the ingredients or the title so spicy, but it was awful and a waste of money.
AnnDeg
How can you go wrong with cheap and tasty! This is my usual go to comfort food place when i just want something that i did not cook. My faves would be mi goreng, fried chicken with soft bones, malaysian noodles, and fried rice. I ordered their milk tea for the first time and i found it too sweet. Should’ve told them to lessen the sugar. But still, this is the best place for me if Id hang out for dinner with friends and stay up late talking over food and drinks
Kdarsh22
I love Momotea food but I give Albany 1 for poor customer service and poor cleanliness it’s disgusting. Please teach your staff to smile and have things organised. This one always puts us
down. Even my kids say ewwww. Mt Albert is good
Dewey Wu
The food is a bit boring. Too much meat but not enough vegetables to balance. Couldn’t finish food because of that. Customer service is nice though.
Food?
Classic bubble tea shop. Has everything to satisfy your bubble tea cravings. My personal favorite being the Taro milk tea and milk shake. The pearls are on the sweeter side than most places but I prefer the sweetness. Occasionally adds too much ice when served at the restaurant in the glasses, so might be a good idea to ask for less ice.
Joe
Awesome place to grab a bite to eat. The portion sizes are great and it doesn’t cost too much for what you get. I find the quality is reasonable.
The best thing about this place is the milk teas and the nata. I highly recommend this place. Definitely my go to food place!
Sarah =^. .^=
It took so long to get their attention to take our order. They forgot to bring 3 out of 4 drinks to our table. After waiting 30+ mins, we had to ask about our order before the drinks finally came out. We were the only customers there when we ordered! No apology from the staff and a “don’t care” attitude. Attentiveness and customer service needs improving.
Cooley
The food was ok with a great price. The amount of portion was large and the peach drink was nice but service is terrible you have to wait along time for them to come to you
Amy Harris
Haven’t tried any of the food but always come in for a takeaway bubble tea and of the 5-6 flavours I have tried so far, they are always amazing. Freshly made and served in less than 5 minutes
Daniel Yep
Very quick to bring out the food/drinks once ordered. Food dishes came with a very big portion, milk shakes and milk tea were very satisfying and felt very refreshing on a hot day. Price is a little expensive however the service is very good. Definitely keen on visiting again!

3/5 Taste
2/5 Display
4.5/5 Quantity
2.5/5 Customer Service

Typical milk tea cafe with food.

Cant expect much from a franchaise but whenever I eat from this place I'm always full and I've never been sick from eating their food.
Some of their waitress cant speak english very well but never gets the order wrong.
Aimee
My go to place! Service is always very good. Staff are friendly and the food always makes it out in minutes. Ambiance is lively and loud which makes it nice for casual dining with friends and family. Highly recommend

Sambal Chicken on Rice with Vegetables at @momotea_nz
Was so disappointed by the Sambal chicken serving today. Sambal is an Malaysian traditional dish and is known to be a Chilli Shrimp paste cooked in Chicken/Eggplant, etc.
They gave us a stirfry with Vegetables and Chicken in a Soy sauce curry with no spice and had no Shrimp or chilli paste taste at all! Sambal curry never has Soy sauce!
The quantity was good but the taste was Zero for what we had ordered.
It was not at all Malaysian.
The dish that was our Winner was the #LambSticks
They were so beautifully cooked and dressed with a chilly peppery powder.
We would recommend the Lamb sticks a must try!
We also tried their #ChocolateMilkShake
It was very delicious. So yummy and chocolaty. The staff at the counter who makes the drinks came personally when we had asked for a chocolate drink and told us he can make it chocolaty.
Love this place go here almost every night the food always tastes good and the teas are amazing I recommend hot and spicy chicken and also the garlic chicken or curry chicken those are amazing dishes
Brooke Valentine
It’s good choice if you work till late, they open till quite late, food choice is good, service is ok, not too bad, large portion, food price is not too high
Kimberly Abalos
I love it there! I definitely recommend people go there if they haven’t already. The service there is great and the food portions are huge which is great when eating out with your family.
Brooke
Having been to other bubble tea places, Momo Tea was a bit of a let down in terms of quality and price. I ordered the same drink that I would at other places and it was a lot more expensive considering that the portion size was smaller. It also did not taste as fresh as I believe it could have been. The atmosphere however was nice and the service was really good.
Qin Chen
Been here a few times for dinner, the service not say good, but it was ok, the milk tea and food was ok, I will be back for some milk tea and food.
Min Su Kim
Dunno why this place has such bad reviews. Ordered a pad thai and kang pow chicken and a peach nata. Its great value and service is good. Will be back again
Grace Huang
I have been coming here ever since it first opened. It is one of my favourite places to get milk tea. The service is very fast and the portions are huge. The servers are patient and very polite.

I usually order the mee goreng or the malaysia fried rice. It is a little bit spicy but it's super flavourful. I always order either the pearl milk tea with pudding or the mango frapp. The milk tea isn't too sweet and the mango frapp doesn't have a super artificial mango taste. Sometimes I drop by for an order of salt and crunchy chicken pieces. It's crunchy and doesn't feel as heavy as kfc.

Overall, I enjoy coming here all the time whenever i'm in the area.
Kelly
I usually just get drinks for takeout here, and I should've stuck to exactly that. Unfortunately, I ordered food as well tonight. Chicken fried rice and the crunchy chicken knees. The chicken fried rice was terrible. It tasted like rotting fish, and came with tasteless cubes of veggies that come frozen at supermarket budget sections. The huge portion made it even more of a hassle to throw out. The crunchy chicken was also inedible because the chicken was off, super stinky, and absolutely foul. I'm $50 out of pocket and still hungry 😒 I give this place some credit for their drinks though.
Pio
I used to like coming to momotea for late night meals, but the service has become so poor now. Food is salty, and why cant they hire people that can speak english.
We ordered three items and only two came, we asked for it and they said the thrid is coming. Half and hour lter (after the food for customers that came in later than us had been served) we kindly asked to just cancel the third item as we had finished eating. The female waitress declined and said the food was coming so we cant cancel. I said again we are finished and the food is still not here so we want to pay for what we ate and leave but she still said no, the food was coming out now so we cant. Despite this it did not and it came just as we were about to leave. We ended being charged for what was rushed and anyone could see that the food was 'thrown' onto the plate.

Food n drinks r amazing and the staffs there r really friendly . That's very good experience will come back again. It's good place with friends and family.
Steve
yes i have been there, perfect drinks and food, good service, beautiful and fashion environment. it is definitely a good place for hanging out or parties.

Super nice BBQ and bubble tea:) friendly staffs and cute logo. Right on Albany Highway. Really handy for lunch and dinner. Strongly recommended

Pros:
Good location
Reasonable price
Great taste
Food selection great
Opens till late

Cons:
Under staffed
Slow and busySometimes unfriendly staff
Unhygienic (plates, cups, toilets, etc)

In the past, Momo Tea has been a great place to go with friends and family. I've been there many times since it first opened. I love the variety of food and beverages on the menu (especially the pearl milk teas), the staff are friendly, and usually the service is very quick.

Recently the environment isn't exactly very clean, it can get noisy when they're making the drinks, and the bowls are still wet and sometimes dirty when it's given to you.

It's not an ideal place to visit if you're picky about the cleanliness in restaurants, unless you're ordering takeaways, as the portions are big and food is affordable.
Blackpearl
Momotea Albany is our choice for late night dinner and when we're too lazy to dress up in the weeked. The portions of their food is huge and their milktea/milkshake is good. We particularly like their black pepper chicken chop on rice and their chicken&salted fish fried rice (shared for two of course). A good restaurant for chats and just chilling out with friends over food and bubble teas. Service is quick.
BAbyWin
Always a nice place to hang out with friends. The environment was nice except it could be quite noisy when there is a lot of people. A lot of drinks option to choose from I always need to take longer time to decide. I like their taro milk tea but if I forget to tell them to put less sugar it can be overly sweet. I seldom have lunch or dinner there because I feel they are quite expensive and small portion. But their Mee Goreng (Malaysia style fried noodle)is worth trying.
Christine
Portion sizes are very big which is always a bonus. The cuisine is not really my cup of tea but the food is inexpensive and decent. I come here often with my friends because they enjoy dining at Momo Tea. The drinks are the best here. I love the peach nata and everyone already knows about their milk tea! This place is quite busy, but staff and ambiance is nice. P.S should really update the music videos.. The same 2010-2013 K-pop songs are replayed over and over again. Would be great if there were more new trendy K-pop/pop music videos playing :D
Manzamayanne
Was here earlier. Id say the service is completely letdown! Very poor service! Waited almost an hour for fried rice fried squid and a stir fry beef! I dunno if the chef or cook knows what he is doing as they keep going out the food with different table. Last customers gets first dishes really? Not going back again
Ricky Zhou
Been there 3 times and its always been a bad experience. The food is average - only tried it once sonce the other times the food never came! Messed up our orders all the time and never compensated for the troubles and mistakes they make.
Get out and close down the store.
MiRi Lee
The dish is really big! 嗯 午餐和休闲奶茶的好去处 饭的分量真的很大,味道也是说得过去嗒…… 而且下午也开门。还是要多光顾自己国家人开的店。service is good too!! Will come back again and again………………
Jilly
If you are after good food at a reasonable price then Momotea is the perfect place. One meal is actually good for 2 people plus match it with either their famous bubble tea or blended ice (many flavours to choose from) topped with pearl or jelly! Even though the place is always busy, service is still generally quite fast. The only thing missing in this place would be friendly staff that would actually smile rather than just take orders from customers.

Overall, this place never disappoint. A very casual environment perfect for families/group of friends/date etc.
Julia Heinze
I have been there twice now and it was really disappointing. The customer service is horrible, there is no welcoming when you come inside the restaurant. Same happened when we sat down, the waiter was really rude and seemed not too care much about customers (actually he seemed like he did not wanna work there). Then they forgot our order and we had to wait for one Pad Thai for about 35 minutes. The atmosphere is not really nice either and the interior was really dirty.

Okay after all that complaining one good thing about this place: THE FOOD!
Food was really good and the drinks are really yummy too!

But sadly I will not return after this disappointment.
Miss Terry Foodie
This would be the best Momotea there is in the Shore. The place is always packed and food is quite nice. A lot better than the Momotea at the other place. Pity they close at around 12am or 1am as it would've been nice to have a place to go to if you just want a restaurant to hang out in when out with friends at night (haha, I know, I'm asking too much). But seriously, when me and my friends don't have any specific restaurant in mind, this is the answer to "where do you want to eat?"
Ashish Bijwe
Momotea is really improving its service standards. Staffs are getting better in providing good service to the customers. The ambience is great. It's a wonderful place in Albany to hang out with your friends. The tea tastes great, the food is just ok. I don't think the food is their mainstream product.

Momotea Albany is always busy even on week days.
Angel
This place is perfect for a meal on a budget, me and my partner usually get fried rice, spring rolls and milk tea which only costs around $25! Tastes really good too! Service is OK depending on who serves you sometimes you need to clearly speak so they understand. Regular customer here
Nathalie
One of our favourite cheap eats. Ambiance is not too bad but the place is always busy! Food wise really yum and cheap. They are very generous with their servings and one noodle plate can feed two people. Love their milk tea and pepper beef their BBQ is also very good! recommended if you are looking for eat cheap eats around the shore.
Jessica
I only order the same thing here and that's the chicken laska. I'm not a big fan of spicy food but for whatever reason I just love this soup! The service is always horrible...they are rude and don't care about you as a customer at all. But I just go for the food & drink. They give you big glasses of bubble tea which is great! I personally like to get the blueberry or grape shaved ice. But any of the fruit or milk bubble tea's are nice also.
Cecilia Wu
The worst Momo tea/Taiwanese style cafe I have been to, I had one taste of noodle soup and couldn't continue as food was terribly disgusting. I had i idea how this place lasted for this long.
Imperius Malekith
Ordered the pork & capsicum rice. Took 2 bites, the pork was very bad quality, capsicum had no flavour, I left the dish uneaten. I was not offered a refund or replacement meal, basically wasted $12.5 Customer service is very poor, as is food quality. I was lucky a friend kindly let me eat some of his dish (some chicken noodle dish,) which tasted better but was also of poor quality ingredients.

On the bright side the wait time for the food was very short, around 10 minutes and the portions are very large. The natas are also nice, and the food is reasonably priced.

There is no free wifi here, I tried on my smartphone. Otherwise I would have given them more stars, but I don't like being lied to.
Eve
Like foods there, but disappointed with some staffs.. a Chinese boy staff gave quite rude services.. the way he took orders and serves, just like i went there to eat for free..
Sapphire Crystal
Very good experience. Friendly service.teas were prepared just as I requested them to.Food was ok.will definitely go again.highly recommended.

Came here as I was craving Asian food at 10pm, and it was the only thing open on a Sunday night apart from the night market. Which let's be honest isn't as great as it used to be.
We were greeted upon arrival and shown to our table which was really nice, there are plenty of options to chose from on the menu. I know this is momotea and their main focus is momotea drinks. I was dying for a Coke but unfortunately they do not sell fizzy drinks which is so random but understandable. I wish they did thou. So I opted for a pineapple juice. The food was really good especially the pad Thai which came out really fast, unfortunately the curry was luke warm and watery and had no seasoning at all. It wasn't very good. So I wouldn't recommend the chicken curry although the pieces they use are very tender. Nice cute place very vibrant.

Update @2/11/2016
Came here again with a friend. Tried the taro milk tea cold with balls. Way too many balls only a few would have been nice. Ruined the drink for me. The chicken with gravy on rice was nice. Didn't really like the skewers ordered the Lamb and chicken &prawn. BUT I really enjoyed the deep fried pork pieces I think. Was yummy needed a nice sauce to go with it though.
Gary
This place is an awesome place if your on a budget you will get a decent sized meal for two and only pay around $25. This place is nice to have a bit of a meal and have an awesome chat. The food is decent but nothing to impress. The only dish that i recommend is mi goreng. Comparative to other branches this franchise is miles ahead. However the BBQ chicken is something worth mentioning about. It was so bad that I couldn't finish one skew. It honestly smelt like BO that I had to cover it up!
Foody
Had the WORST customer service in my whole life.
Went in to order milk tea but the waitress at the counter told me to "WAIT" with her fingers as if she was talking to her dog!
I was pretty annoyed but thought oh well maybe she just doesn't speak good english.
Waited for a few minutes and the same waitress came to give me my milk tea pretty much smashing them on the table and walked away.
Felt like saying something but just decided to go home and when I finally got home, realised the girl took the wrong order so I didn't get pearls in my milk tea, the reason why I wanted one in the first place!!

I love milk tea and love Momotea but due to the "wonderful" experience, I will not be visiting ever again. Thanks
Krisp_
We come here often for bubble tea as its one of the few that's open late in the shore. The food is average (hit and miss), their menu tho has so much variety to choose from, decent size servings and reasonably priced. This place is quite popular with students to hang out as it's open til 1am.
Thegreeats
Very quick
I had the lemon peach green tea and it was yum!
Bf has the peach nata and it was more bland than usual.
Could improve on cleaner interior but other than that good service
Haven't tried food here but drink wise it's good!
Price is also compatible relative to other milk tea places

UPDATE: there's now no more board games?? :( also tried a new drink today which was the strawberry and green tea yoghurt..not very nice. Did not taste like strawberry nor green tea and it was so aritificlaly sweet. Friend ordered green tea milk shake which was really good I'll most likely get that next time :P

I love theyre spicy chicken by far the best. Love going here. Highly recommend theyre spice chicken if you go there. The service is Ok but they some times make mistakes

If you're deciding on which bubble tea store to visit on the North Shore usually your options are either Momo Tea or the Easyway which is within walking distance.

Due to this, my review will have comparisons between these two chains.

The service at both is equally bad, bubble tea workers never seem like they want to be there and always look like they found whatever you ordered to be a sign of peasantry. The workers at Momo Tea tend to like being on their smartphones a lot more though.

Drinks are good, better than Easyway however they are more expensive and smaller in volume. Don't be fooled by photos, the mugs that they use give a good illusion of size due to its curvature and glass bottom, as well as the bubble tea foam.

Food is actually pretty decent, no faults there. Toilet is reasonably clean and the interior is nice and bright although some of the leather seats are ripped and certain tables are uneven.

Overall, not bad.

This is a lunchtime favourite of mine. However, they take a while to serve the food. Lovely food and beverages. especially the Chinese cold melon/fruit teas. Prices are very reasonable and there is plenty of parking available. Always clean and tidy. Definitely recommend it.
Toru Tres
I love the fried rice with salted fish pieces. Feels good to be here and food is great. Affordable and cosy too. We have been twice nd it is our go to dining when we want to dine a bit late.
Claud Hoskins
Love Momo tea! So friendly and so easy, I do wish they had a loyalty card though! We go there all the time and it would be worth it. There bubbles are also very yummy
Ruth Gong
The place is always clean and tidy. The drinks are decent, however, may be a little sweet for some of you but you could always cut down on the sugar levels in your drink when ordering. The food is tasty with alot of variety to choose from. Picture: Right- Mashed papaya milkshake + tapioca pearls ($7.50), Left- Soya Milk Tea + tapioca pearls ($6.50). The prices are reasonable with decent portions. The lamb sticks are not worth ordering as they are small and expensive. The curry chicken on rice is my favourite and I will definitely be back for some quick and tasty food.
Jessie Humphrey
Love this place! Great for a quick dinner! I used to come here when I lived closer by...
Their service isn't always the best but ok.
I love their drinks and menus, always a good place to grab some food with your friends!
Kat M
We used to live across the road from momo tea and would come here quite often as its open super late. Food is nothing amazing but there are a few menu options we really like. Service isn't the greatest but you don't really expect it to be in a place like this. My favourite dish is oyster sauce Bok Choy & hot and spicy chicken, pad Thai and beef curry is also really good. Unfortunately last night I found a long green hairy fibre in my meal :( guess it was from a scouring cleaning pad but it was still very off putting! Not sure I'll be rushing back after that.

Drinks are well priced, but the food is only so-so.
Nice modern furnishing.

Regardless, it's always a chilled environment where I'm able to sit with friends for a while and they won't bother you.

Food: 6/10
Service: 3/5
Ambience: 4/5
Value: 4/5
Overall: 17/25

got some takeaway there today. service was terrible, only ordered two drinks when it's quiet, gave me the wrong drinks and refused to admit it. What could have been easily solved just got worse

Momo have seriously stepped up their game! Last time I went here for dinner the service wasn't very good (rather rude in fact) and the food not much better. Tonight however was completely different. The guy who served us was super nice and the food was amazingly rich. So good.

Value is good. Quality not bad. Quite authentic Chinese food and really really nice milk tea. The ambience not too good but if you don't expect a good quiet environment then you wont be disappointed. Not the best Chinese food around but pretty good

When you walk thru the door, you will instantly feel like you have entered into candyland - The bright colours and playful decor definitely catches the inner child of any age. The staff were friendly and attentive, however the till lady was rude and didnt even acknowledge us smiling or saying thank you as we left. The bubble tea was ok - but I can say I have had better. They also sell food that did not look appealing at all! Anywho wont be rushing back anytime soon

Me and my best friend live far from each other and often have no time to meet during the day. Momo tea is open till midnight which is perfect for us. The drinks here are always yummy, you can design them as you want. You can request no sugar or half sugar in your drink so that it's not too sweet. You can also ask for cold or hot and any toppings you like. All in all, the place is always clean and the service is good, although they usually speak in Chinese, which my friend knows, but I don't. But anyway, I get what I order and I'm happy.

I'm a fan of milk tea and I like to get my fix of this and deep fried squid here and there, but often the service is not very satisfying and incredibly greasy to the point it doesn't really react very well afterwards often.

Still, the milk tea is good and a quick fix is not too bad here and there, and it's close by too!

I loved this place I always order Taro milk tea and chicken pad thai, chicken stick.Staff were ok I'm not guna say they have great customer service. However, lately I've noticed that the staff members needs to be more proactive. We waited to be serve for a while, new customers came in and got a table and few minutes later the staff member entertain them and took their order while me and my siblings still there waiting,I understood they were busy so this was probably why it happened. When they were free they were just chatting and checking their phone while we were still waiting..we got served but took a while..Tonight same thing happened but this time I had to wave and called a staff..when I got home after few hours having my usual meal which I shared with my friend..I felt sick and then I throw up...and i believe it's bcuz of the chicken pad thai so that's it I'm definitely not coming back again. You lost me I had enough of this place.

Enjoy it every time I come here. Food is pretty good. And my favourite drinks are milk tea I recommend cold taro milk tea with pearls or cold mango pudding milk tea. Although sometimes it was too busy, had to sit outside with my group and there were smokers and we had asthmatic people

I came here for the first time with a couple of my friends and it was disappointing. The customer service was terrible i think they should re-train their waitress. They ignored us when we went into the store because they were all busy chatting and playing on their phones. When we signalled to be served this waitress walked to us really slowly with a tired and annoyed face and took our orders like it was wasting her time. However the food was quite good and the drinks tasted nice and refreshing but the customer service was really, really bad.

This is a place where you can find Malaysian food,Thai,Chinese…a bit of everthing. I've only been there once, honestly, the food isn't too bad,but the iced mango tea and ice dessert were both rather bland. The service is satisfying, anyway,it's just a small eatery,so don't expect too much from it.

I love the drinks here... Always so refreshing and satisfying! The food isn't necessarily noteworthy but definitely far from bland. The staff isn't exactly friendly - but it's easy to combat that for the sake of the beautiful drinks :-)

Rude waitress. Came in and the whole time she look like she had bad news someone has died. Felt I was at a funeral parlor. From there she was so rude trying to correct every customer she is serving. Disgusted. Beware of that slim fair girl with really long hair. Nevertheless food was ok because of the service never coming back again.
I came here several times with my friend and there are two menus that we always ordered: chicken and salted fish fried rice, and char kway teow. They are quite yummy! I also have a new favourite snack from here: the salted, crispy chicken pieces. It could get along with any dish you have! It was not as big as chicken popcorn but still yum! The Malaysian spicy fried noodle was also nice although it was not spicy enough for me. However, the dry noodle with the stir fry 'sauce' (or we call it ifu mee in Indonesian) was not as we expected, it was a little bit plain. They also did not provide nor ask if we wanted chili sauce.

I had a rockmelon milk tea with custard pudding while my friend had a taro milk tea with custard pudding. They are quite yummy.

The only problem we had is the place was really small and it couldn't fit for many people. The price for the food and drink is standard but the portion if the meal is quite big. The place also opens until midnight during weekend. I look forward to come again.

Update: their red bean ice cream is soo YUM! Recommended to try! However, their black tea was average for me - won't order that again.

i tried the "chicken and salted fish fried rice" and it was really good! nice place to hang out as well! my favourite drink is strawberry milk tea with pearls :) perfect combo

Worst service ever!!!!! I felt they were extremly RACIST!!! Me my partner and anouther couple went for lunch today and the customer service was extremly disgusting. As we enter I inform the guy that we will be dining in, he then runs to the table puts down our menus and runs back. We were placed at the far back of the room. Then we wait 20mins to take our order, that is with actualy putting our hands in the air and trying to stop them as they walked past. So my partner goes to the front and trys to ask the lady for service, she stands right in front of him and plays on her register for 5mins doing nothing. I go up and she immediatly looks up and asks if were ready to pay for our meal. We never ate.
I'am european, as we were waiting other asians were servered before us even though they came in after. I dont know if they are racist but it surely felt like it.

Been there twice for the quick late night fix with my wife. She just loves black bean sauce beef on rice here and I would give 5/5 on behalf of her. My favourite would be spicy lamb kebab. Been there myself so many times on the weekend night just to takeaway crispy chicken, spicy lamb kebeb and beef tounge kebab. When that kebab urge hits me I put my jandals on and just stroll down the street in the moonlight. Twenty minutes later I'm back at my place having my kebabs with my favourite beer. Never ordered a milk tea of any kind because I just don't drink milk tea myself so nothing to review in that regard. In general, the guys here at Albany Momo Tea gives me just what I need when I need them the most. 5.0 / 5.0 excellent.
Love Food
Such a disappointing place. The worst Chinese food I have ever had in Nz. Ordered two dishes for takeaway, both tasteless, no world to describe! 3/4 rice and only 1/4 meat and veges, paid $14 for a box of rice. If there is a zero score than I would rate 0!

Have been here a few times, service and food is below satisfactory and at the most recent time I ended up getting FOOD POISONING!! - truly do NOT recommend!

Ok food, staff misplaced order and fixed it promptly (which is quite amazing for Chinese based running restaurant)

Honest opinion? Its way too far for me to come again. Its alright for people that live in the area, but I personally wouldn't come again when there are closer ones near me. When I came here, the place was deserted, the waitress was rude, snobby and playing on their phone. I wanted to just get up and leave, but friends were wanting their fix of Taiwanese milk tea, hence why I started back.

I ordered a boring lemon black tea (one of my favourite drinks) and it was horrible, I felt as though I was drinking syrup. It so sweet that I just left it and asked for water, oops, I mean tap water.

Momo is just popping up all over the place! I've reviewed the one in Meadowlands/Howick also on Zomato, but it's worthy of mentioning that the same great aspects of Momo Tea are to be found right here in the Albany branch.

It's open till 2AM, so if you've been out all night and need a quick asian food fix, the quality of the food is a lot better than you'd expect for somewhere open at that time in the morning. Trust me, your guts will thank you the next day!

The crazy Korean/Japanese teas that were completely alien to me were actually pretty damn good. Ever wondered what Mango pudding milk tea tasted like? Do it! The menu is extensive - if there Chinese/Korean (& some japanese) that you have a hankering for. Think noodles (with any combination of meats and vegetables you could think of, and some more!)
