Review Katsubi Northwest - Auckland

Great place for a well filling lunch, only downside is you have to eatbthrough the meat to get to the vegetables at the bottom, but it doesn't really matter as it is all so good anyhow

Great affordable Donburi with lots of variety of your own choice! However some of the ingredients can be fresher!

Ordered Donkatsu ramen. Topping veges and meats were fresh.

Yum yum in my tum. A whole range of options you can see and choose from. Staff are 90% of the time wonderful. Occasionally you get one having a bad day or having trouble hearing/understanding you but most of the time very friendly and efficient. Regular option is a great deal. Rice, whatever veg options you like, 2 sauces and 2 hot options. Yum yum.

My 5 star rating is only for Northwest Katsubi as it is by far the best that I've eaten at. The food always looks and tastes fresh unlike some of the others that I have been too( I feel that most if not all other brunches could learn a lot from them. I applaud you the team at Northwest.🙂

Staff are friendly enough and efficient so you don’t queue for long. I have tried virtually everything from their menu over the years and have enjoyed it all!

Great tasty food and staff always seem friendly. I recommend the hot chilli sauce if you like a bite.

Katsubi north west is the best Always fresh and cooked to perfection ✊👍🏿👌

Good food, quite pricey for what you get

As I remember some time ago, pre-the world going slightly crazy. 👍😎

Food standard is extremely poor and dissapointing! Dont think you should be calling this 'Japanese' cuisine either.. tartar sauce with chicken karaage which is the size of my fist.

A quick meal, tasty, generous portions and fresh. For a pensioner on a limited budget, a medium donburi from Katsubi stretches to two meals. To cook all this at home, plus adding a wide selection of salad would cost a fortune. Friendly and helpful staff. Thank you.

Best katsubi around. Staff are always friendly and aren’t stingy about the amount of food which is why I always enjoy it. Disappointed about the price increase but it be like that sometimes. Love the service and is very clean. 10/10 would recommend

Subway style make your own Japanese bowl with plenty of greens and tasty protein options. Quick, easy, and reliable. Only down side is that the price is just a tad high for what it is. Otherwise this is a great go-to for those wanting a healthy easy meal.

Wish I could give them a zero!! Terrible customer service!! My meal was loaded with rice and little meat (the meat was more of a decoration). I asked the server about it and she just ignored me. Spend your money elsewhere!! Way, way, way overpriced!!!

I always get the large Donburi, I travel from, Henderson to northwest to get this meal. You would think a meal that costs $19 with a small drink will be well worth it. Well I can say the first time I had it I was blown away but that was because it was a younger man serving. The next few times I've been i was served by this old Asian lady who was stingy with the salads. She put more rice than anything. I told her to take some rice out. She was pissed lol. Anyways I asked for some lotus she only gave me two pieces, stingy I wanted more salad, but she ignored me, and carried onto the meat servings. They seem to be popular and busy but overall I would still go there but not if the old lady is there serving. New staff needed!!

Be prepared to have a nap after one of their regular Donburi's!!!!

I enjoyed my meal, they put on a bit too much sauce so the meal became a bit rich 3/4 of the way through it. I found the service was good. I believe they need to put less rice in the bowl and a bit more veges as the ratio is a bit off, the meat was nice and tender as well.

Overall I would definitely return for a meal if I was at Northwest.

Food is just okay but dislike the service. I was thinking what to get and the young lady was very impatient. I had salad instead of rice and she filled up my salad bowl in a very rushing way as if there's a lonq queue waiting but in fact there is none. Like the comments of the other reviewers, they are stingy with their salad. Ramen came in a better portion than salad.

Ordered a soy ramen that is just warm, while the staff has no other customer to serve at all. I can see that everything in the bowl is pre-cooked but can they at least make the ramen served in hot soup on a cold winter day? The taste is average. Before I could even taste the warm ramen, I first had to experience their impatient and poor customer service. If they don't explain in the first place how people can order the different combinations, at least try to explain politely if you are asking customer to pay more for additional food.

I love the idea, I love the ingredients and I love the containers. I would eat this often as a healthy lunch HOWEVER the meat is not always fresh and that makes all the difference. Kumara crisp salad and Katsu chicken would be amazing if the chicken was not dry and cold.

Highly disappointed as my holiday has been cut short due to waking up after eating here at let's say 3pm yesterday, with severe food poisoning so nasty I almost had to be hospitalised. Have a fever so high I can't see because everything is blurry. Please reconsider eating at this place as they obviously don't cook their food and the service was not friendly at all, had to wait ages for this food to be served and it looked like seafood slop when I finally got it. So unfortunately my holiday has been cut short. Basically wasted 12$ I could use for something fun just to be sick.

One of the best Katsubi Donburi places! When ordering takeaway they always fill the container up so full and there is always a lot of variety to choose from!

The first few times I came here it was really good, today not so much. Cold chewy chicken and a pathetic amount of salad m. Hardly worth $13.
