Review Smashed Pumpkin Cafe - Auckland

Slow start but a great finish. The Cafe officially opens at 7:30, but was open at 7:25 when I arrived and was able to get coffee. The chef though was late. We were on the point of considering leaving when he arrived. Our breakfast club meets every Wednesday and we are picky about things. Usually I would make a few visits before posting a review but one of our party is keen to get this up, so here goes. They lose a point for tardiness, but that is all. Coffee is hearty and delicious. No thin watered down brew. The food is also delicious. We ordered one x pulled pork Benny. one x creamy mushrooms, and two x big breakfast. I thought the mushrooms looked too bready, but the consumer declared that they were the best he had recently received. I failed to get a verdict on the pulled pork, but the recipient cleaned their plate, and voiced no complaints. The big breakfasts were the best I can remember in West Auckland. The sausages are real bratwurst and the portions are huge. I did not finish my serving which is unheard of. Friendly staff. Will definitely return. Note: One of the reviews complains about buttering their own toast. I personally consider that a feature. Some people like butter melted into their toast, and some, like me, prefer to have it sit on top of a cool crunchy piece of toast.

The Smashed Pumpkin Cafe Westgate is a lovely place for a breakfast or lunch 🍲🥞 It's a lot bigger than what it looks from the outside and has a calming ambiance. The menu is not very big, but it still has quite a few crowd pleasing dishes. Their hot drinks are to die for ☕☕ My team leader and I had a meeting about current expectations, call quality, training, and a discussion about mid year personal progress and performance reviews. Who said it can't be done over delicious food ❓😋 The lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful in making suggestions for the best dishes, although everything was good

Even just the moment of entering smashed pumpkin, you'll be mesmerized by it's interior design, a spacious, comfortable and clean cafe situated near the Westgate mall, right next to big save furniture and snap fitness. You'll find this gem of a cafe, weather you're taking your date, friends or family here for lunch I can guarantee they'll be impressed! How often do you find cafe that has absolutely stunning food presentation and taste just as great as it looks! Smashed Pumpkin delivers on every single aspect. We came around 2:30pm after our outting to bethel's beach simply just trying to find a cafe to grab a bite, from the menu we ordered - Soup of the day (potato leek) - Panko chicken sandwich - Chilli scrambled eggs Holy smokes the Panko chicken might be the best sandwich I've ever had in any Cafe hands down! The Japanese/ Western style Fushion is a matched made in heaven. Every single bite into this sandwich crunches on the bread, through the chicken ending with a slightly sweet tangy chutney you wouldn't want to stop eating this thing! Did I mention it comes with fries!? I don't know if I was lucky but fresh long hot fries straight out of the deep fryer, it's like driving through Mc Donald's you bring the lucky one getting that hot fries straight outta the deep fryer, you know that feeling! But you get this at the pumpkin smash cafe on a next level! Comboed with tomato and aoli sauce. Potato leek soup, this creme style soup leaves you feeling warm and refreshed on a summer day! Yeah you read that right *REFRESHED* have you even drank a soup that friken refreshed you!? That by the end of it you don't feel like you're bloated even after having a Panko sandwich. I don't know what magic they throw in this soup but it's friken life changing. Chilli scrambled eggs, would ya look at that presentation! Served on a crossiant. Which cafe serves your scrambled eggs on corssiant, you know it's good already with butter smooth buttery eggs combined with a bit of bratwursts sausages garnished with fried shallots. For those who don't even spice can easily eat this too, it's more fragrant than it is spice. Over all smashed pumpkin deserves your attention, weather its atmosphere, taste, or price for value. It'll tick all those boxes. I'll definately be returning and I'll have all the Panko chicken myself! It was sold out by the time we arrived, so you know what's up!

A real gem! Fantastic food - SO well presented and really fresh ingredients. Esther, the owner, is a great barista so the coffee was spot on. also, there's loads of parking so it's super-convenient. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth a visit!

Yummy food and yummy coffee, they accommodated our special requests and still made the plates pretty. Very cool vibe in the cafe. If you like to have a coffee alone or get some work done, it's a big enough cafe that you won't be elbow to elbow with someone else. Seems like they have activities on every once in a while too will definitely be returning.

Delicious food + drinks and super lovely customer service. Well worth the stop. Really convenient if your keen on checking on furniture and bikes also, with BigSave and a Bike store next door. I believe there is a tramp park next door also. Great fun for the kids.

Nice cafe, good size, only one vegan option but meals had nice plate presentation and my juice was super yummy. Quite warm in the afternoon as under the same roof as the furniture store. I found it a little difficult to find but am glad we did. Next time I want to try the hot cakes which my friend had as it looked beautiful

Superb spot for breakfast specially if you are heading to Costco (its a 5 minute drive away). Excellent selection with everything from Buttermilk Pancakes with seasonal fruit to Big Breakfast to Mince on Toast. They do a terrific long black too. Like this place a lot.

Smashed Pumpkin have done well to transform the ambience in this warehouse-converted, shared retail space. The decor is playful & imitates a backyard patio theme. Bookworms will love the book exchange shelf and the cool-white fairy lights bring it to life. The service is great, the food is outstanding & they execute their presentation exceptionally well. The pulled pork eggs bene = life changing & they don't skimp on the swine either, that thing was packed to the gills with melt-in-your-mouth pork. A dime among pennies in the evergrowing region of Westgate.

After a great walk around Hobsonville last Sunday, we decided to try The Smashed Pumpkin out in Westgate as we had read some very good reviews. The cafe is spacious, light and airy with seating which is not right on top of each other. The menu offers a good range of options. As one of us is a lover of pumpkin, we went for the Hagan Stack (corn fritters, haloumi, avocado, pumpkin purée, mushroom and almonds), and the BF Delight (mushrooms, haloumi, poached eggs, almonds and ryebread toast). Both dishes were well presented and the food was delicious - a light and tasty brunch. A solid 4.

This is our favourite local cafe in west Auckland the food presentation is just fantastic not too mention tasty, good prices and staff are friendly. If you havnt tried this cafe it's a must you wont be dissapointed.

It’s a go to spot for delicious food, amazing personalised service and relaxation. Tried almost all items on their menu, the detail and effort the friendly chef puts into his work really shows. Love going back, especially during the week when it’s a little quieter.

Food is amazing every time, fantastic coffee and excellent service.

I have visited twice now. First visit we had pancakes and they were delicious! The second visit I had the corn fritters. They were nice but very small serving size which meant I left hungry. Would visit again but wouldn't order the fritters again. Presentation was beautiful both visits.

We ordered a beef burger and a beef schnitzel, the food was pretty good and the coffee was very nice, also the staff were very friendly. We Will definitely come back again .

Food is awesome, if you are in a hurry and don’t want to enjoy the food experience then don’t turn up and expect McDonalds drive through speed....

Just been to the smashed pumpkin cafe, got two coffees and two main meals. Coffee was really nice and strong. Both meals were really yummy! Nice and chill vibe, was good as it's midweek not busy.

Went there on a weekday with a friend who has the gold membership, quite enjoy eating there...nice environment and food is quite nice 👍 I had the pull pork burger and my friend had the poke bowl, both taste yum 😋 definitely will revisit 😍

Cute little cafe! Nice variety of food. We ordered the beef burger, chicken sandwich and the pancakes, and for drinks just a chocolate milkshake which was tasty! The presentation for the food was beautiful! Flavour wise it was okay. I would say the pancakes were packed with sweetness and flavour, it was my favourite dish. The ambiance is pretty cute too! Nice place to catch up with couple of your girlfriends. The location on the Zomato app it took me near Topedo7 and The warehouse, however on google the direction was much accurate. Maybe it was the gps however it’s located next snap fitness and big save furniture.

Service was good and food taste and presentation very good. It was a busy day, and the waitress did say it would take around 30 minutes but ended up waiting an hour for our food - was STARVING by the time the food came. Would probably only go again to get cabinet food or of its REALLY empty inside, otherwise youll be in there altesst an hour and a half just for lunch.

Smashing little place this was! As you walk in instantly you can feel the cosiness & the comfort of the place. The decos were so beautiful & trendy but not in your face. Very clean & tidy place!<br/>The food not only looked good but tasted delicious! I ordered the pancakes & must say these have to be the best I’ve had so far. What I loved about it was that it wasn’t sickly sweet & had the right components to balance the sweetness..<br/>My husband ordered the big breakfast & the rostti was again the best we’ve had & it wasn’t your traditional hash brown type rostti.. However there were other amazing things on the menu & when I saw them coming out I wanted it! Their burgers looked very delicious, cannot wait to go back for that!<br/>Customer service was on point! The manager herself was on the floor greeting & serving the customers & cleaning up afterwards. Service with a personal touch, another component that made this experience amazing & comfortable. <br/>Can’t wait to go back & try out the rest of the menu.

Service was incredible and food was delicious! You don’t expect so much from this place by looking at it but give it a shot and you’ll be impressed!

👍🏻👍🏻 Good food and low price. It took a bit long for the food to come out but worth the wait. The pancake is very cute and children love it. The beef salad is with rich sauce, but I wish the beef can be a bit more thinner and tenderer. The restaurant is clean and staff are very polite.

Good food and kids friendly environment. Just we need to wait for a bit for our food. Thankfully they have Peppa pig on the tv and a small play area for the kids.

Came here as a group of four because of the high score on Zomato. Order placed at 1:15pm and two mains arrived at around 2pm, with another two followed by 2ish. And the cafe is not busy at all, 3-4 tables only including us! All four mains we ordered were just below average. Ordered egg benny with muffin, end up being served with a thin toasty, big breakfast was ordered with poached egg and end up having it in scrambled, with over cooked sausage and potato rosti. Although staffs are nice and friendly, given the longgggg waiting time and food quality, we won’t be back again.

Decided to visit after doing some shopping across the road - what a hidden gem! The staff are polite and friendly, the cafe is spotless (even has a small area for little ones) and their presentation... wow. Couldn't fault the place at all! As our lunch was given to us we had other diners come and marvel at all the intricate details, it truly was a work of art. Thanks guys for the awesome meal, will definitely be back!

My friend and I took my sister here for brunch last week and was so surprised with the appearance and basically everything about the place. I personally would say it doesn’t belong in west auckland. The service was amazing, the ambience looked really nice and the food was delicious. All three of us ordered the pancakes and were so pleased. The look of the pancakes was so nice and overall was very pleased. Definitely looking forward to coming back here soon.

Popped in for lunch with a friend & her sister as I saw a photo of this cafe and it looked so good I wanted to check it out. The cafe is pretty big and modern and the staff are so lovely. My friend had a flat white with a caramel shot and she said it was a little strong but was still good. Then we all got the pancakes and can I just say the presentation is GORGEOUS!!!!! It's so good for photos and they tasted just as good as they looked which you don't get often. The portion was really good as-well we were all so full. I will definitely be back because the food was so good!! 100% recommend :)))

Great spot for coffee. My daughter and I had a late lunch here today, the ambiance of this place was great and it was clean. Staffs were friendly and their cabinet had a lot of varieties. We ordered of the menu, although we had to wait a wee while for our order to arrive. My little monkey was getting a bit impatient, we sat in front of the kitchen and the chef noticed that it was taking long and prob heard my child complaining of being hungry. He apologised for our meal taking longer which was nice of him. When we finally got our meal it was presented nicely and my pulled pork burger tasty delicious.

This is my family’s absolute favourite place to have brunch. Every time we order we are impressed. Food is not only absolutely delicious but always beautifully presented. Staff are lovely aswell.

It started with two people over whelmed by several customers (If you go there on Saturday morning it is full of Cyclist coming in from their ride so tables outside are all taken it seems). We were at the front of the queue on the counter about to order, lady told us to sit and she can take our order from table. Then we waited so long for her to come, meanwhile she was taking orders of the people that were behind us at the counter? At the end she did get to us. But people behind us got their orders first. She made a come back with how she treated us after that, set up table in the sun especially for us then the food they served was nice.

Ordered the smashed avo and the vegetarian salad. Smashed avo was below average, avocado almost tasted off and the bread was so hard. Quite disappointing since we waited 40 minutes for our food and there was only two other customers dining.

Food was alright but not amazing. They only had two staff on so were pretty busy and that meant pretty long wait times. Will provably go back. Hopefully they have more staff on next time.

This was our first Zomato Gold experience and what a let down. We selected Smashed Pumpkin for our lunch today because it was local, had good reviews and above all because of gold. When we went to order they told us today was excluded from gold as it was a public holiday. When I questioned this I was informed that it was in the terms and conditions, but it wasn’t, yesterday was an exclusion day but today wasn’t. I was able too use the help chat on Zomato to query this and they made contact with the cafe. When I went to pay they took the second meal off my bill but added a public holiday surge charge. Basically I paid a bit extra because of miscommunication between Zomato and the cafe when Zomato signed them up to gold. The cafe thought all public holidays were excluded whereas the exclusion list is only for a small portion of the public holidays. Both Zomato and the cafe could have handled this better as I shouldn’t have had to pay a surcharge. <br/><br/>Now the food was delicious and that’s why they get 3 stars. The pulled pork burger was full of flavour and juicy. The chips were slightly over cooked and all of them were small. <br/>The service was average. The table hadn’t been wiped down when the last customer’s dishes were cleared. The meals took ages to come out even though it wasn’t busy and they came out one by one. The environmentally friendly paper straw wasn’t up to the job of extracting the smoothie out of the glass. <br/><br/>Probably won’t be back as there are many other options in the area.

My first Zomato Gold experience and I couldn’t have chosen a better spot! Food was STUNNING!! It not only tasted amazing, but also looked phenomenal!! Service was absolutely lovely - smiles were aplenty! :) Portion sizes were decent and prices were very reasonable. I had the Poke Bowl and the flavours and textures were spot on. The pancakes were, according to my little sis, the best she’s ever had. Definitely will be coming back. ^_^

We stumbled upon this cafe by accident and I'm glad that we did. It is such a little hidden gem in Massey. The lady that served us was super lovely she was the only one that was serving and she attended to all the tables that were there in such a timely manner.<br/><br/>We got the fries, vegetarian pizza, corn fritter dish and spring rolls and milkshake.<br/><br/>Milkshake was average, just a normal chocolate milkshake, little bland tasting 2.5/5.<br/><br/>The fries were delicious and crispy 4/5.<br/><br/>The pizza was absolutely delicious, the flavours complemented each other very well 5/5. The only thing that could be improved is that the base was a little bit too thin.<br/><br/>The corn fritter dish was ok was kind of average and it was really tart. But the kumara chips were yum 3/5.<br/><br/>The springs rolls were very delicious we were really stunned to find out how many spring rolls we got for such an amazing price 5/5.<br/><br/>Overall, the food was really delicious and can't wait to go back. Especially can't wait to go back because I saw that it is now a zomato Gold restaurant on the window. Can't wait to try more dishes.

Had a really delicious breakfast here.  Both meals were beautifully presented, tasted great, and the coffee was really good too.  The cafe is light, airy and spacious - it would be a great place to come with a larger group.  There's also loads of parking.  I'd say Smashed Pumpkin is something of a hidden gem and is well worth a visit. I'll definitely be back!

Definitely calling this a hidden gem...didn’t even know this place existed after living around here for how long?! Food was nicely presented and tasted decent (I got the corn fritters), wouldn’t say it’s anything unique but is good standard cafe food. Not to mention reasonable prices. Waitress didn’t seem very energetic and she didn’t seem familiar with the till, but other wise, probably the best cafe there is at Westgate.

Popped in here while out shopping. Nice spacious unpretentious cafe. Super friendly service and they had a 15% off deal so that was me sold. I ordered a smoothie and the Eggs Benedict with salmon and a side of halloumi. The smoothie could’ve been a bit sweeter but the Eggs Bene was really nice.

My new favourite spot out West! The food is visually stunning and just as delicious as it looks. Highly recommend the pulled pork eggs benedict & the bao buns, yum! The quinoa porridge is also nice as a healthier option. So nice to get big smiles & a lovely welcome every time I walk in :-)

Furniture shopping next door and decided to grab some lunch, we were shocked, service was excellent food from the cabinet was amazing. My partner and I wanted to try a few different things so decided to share and without prompt the food was cut and plated separately for us with salad. Can't wait to try something from the menu!!!<br/>Review update; we've been coming here for over a year and it gets better everytime! We have orderd almost everything and it's all delicious!! Recent favorites are definitely lamb shanks and creamy mushrooms!!

My daughter and I had lunch here today the food is beautifully presented and very tasty. Asian fusion style foods with a difference +value for money cabinet food(as a quick pop in for lunch when working) something for everyone. The breakfasts look lovely too and a little different ! I would highly recommend this cafe to all my cafe loving foodie friends. We will be coming again and bringing my very astute foodie family too. The service also was friendly and attentive . Came here on an early morning because I saw this newly open cafe on Zomato. I had a green smoothie and my favorite salmon benedict. I have to admit that the food presentation was really good. If without the 15% discount it was actually quite pricy. Other than that there's nothing to complain.
