Review Nonna - Auckland

A fantastic little restaurant for fresh pasta and affordable Italian dishes. The staff is great, the food is well made, and the prices are very reasonable which makes me a repeat customer.. and repeat.. and repeat. My favourite is the creamy mushroom (fungi) and Marinara. Their chicken schnitzel with beetroot risotto is a nice mix of crunch, savoury and sweet.

So cute and delicious! Nonna makes the most tasty fresh pasta, and also their chips with truffle mayonnaise are absolutely divine. Yum! Love how there was outdoor seating and service was nice and fast. Highly recommend if you’re craving pasta 🌟

What we ordered: Nonna's Meatballs w spaghetti $22 Sweet potato gnocchi $21 Cannolo $7 sweet ricotta and mascarpone Tiramisu $9 Iced mocha $5.5 Vienna $4.5 Fries $7 + Truffle Mayo $3 I've been meaning to come here for ages so after seeing that Nonna will be shutting down as of this Sunday, I dragged a friend here to try basically everything on the menu for what would be the first and last time. I loved the Nonna's meatballs. It was basically an elevated spaghetti and meatballs but the spaghetti was handmade and tasted super fresh and had a bit of a bite to it. The meatballs were juicy and flavourful and I loved the simple but super tasty sauce. The gnocchi wasn't my favourite but I did enjoy it! It was super creamy and cheesy but I just thought the gnocchi needed a bit more of a chew or a bounce to it and there was also a very interesting ratio of sauce to gnocchi where we ate all of the gnocchi and didn't know what to do with what was basically a full bowl of sauce. It was still tasty but I do think there are definitely better items on the menu. We also got the fries, some drinks, and some desserts, all of which were great! I loved the tiramisu and the iced mocha, especially since I have a huge sweet tooth! The meal was super decadent and rich so maybe not the type of place where you attempt to eat everything in one sitting but I really enjoyed it and I'll be so sad to see this place go!

Absolutely amazing food. Love the fresh pasta and really puts other 'Italian' restaurants in Auckland to shame. After living in Europe for over ten years, and been disappointed at the other Italian restaurants in Auckland, we've finally found this authentic gem. Will definitely return!

Yummy freshly made pasta. I describe the taste was very...Cute!? Just the right amount! Not too light or not too heavy but bit more of sweetness.

A very nice little pasta restaurant. The menu is fairly standard but the food was nicely presented, tasty and made with nice fresh ingredients. Reasonably priced and it's a nice, ambient, tastefully decorated place to sit. Good coffee and efficient service.

Nonna is one of the few places in Auckland where one can get freshly made pasta without paying an arm and a leg. Their service is top notch and the food is simply delicious. The simplicity of the menu is just great and quality of food is spectacular. My favourite type of pasta currently would be their tagliatelle, although they do have 6 types of offer at the time of writing this review. Here’s hoping that they add more types soon! Be sure to try their cannoli (top equal in Auckland in my opinion) and risotto + grilled Parmesan. 😋

I tried Nonna for lunch on a Friday and it was the ambiance of the place was relaxed and smart. There were plenty of fresh pasta to couple with homemade sauces to choose from and my eyes went straight for tagliatelle with chicken cacciatore sauce. The dish was quick to arrive and it looked and smelled heavenly, fresh and aromatic. The flavours were simple and clear with sizable chunks of tender chicken, plump olives and herbaceous tomato sauce. It was simply divine! To finish off I had to try the sweet ricotta cannoli with an espresso and this was a wonderful close to my lunch. Highly recommended!

First visit I only had coffee and cannoli, and it was one of the best coffee I’ve ever had, kid you not. Second time here, I brought my family along and we’re very pleased with the pasta. Amazing salmone and chicken cacciatore! The owner is very nice and friendly, the ambience is comfy. Truly a hidden gem in Newmarket. Love it!

I had the creamy carbonara and also tried the chicken cacciatore, both were very delicious! The carbonara sauce and bacon were very flavoursome and it was a nice portion size. Want to go back and try the coffee and dessert 😋
