Review Ockhee - Auckland

Karyn Ann Udanga
My friend and I went here for dinner and we really enjoyed it! They were pretty busy for a Monday night, but they still managed to let us have a table. We were feeling pretty hungry, so we shared 2 mains (japchae and bbq spicy pork with cheese) and 2 sides (persimmon kimchi and korean fried chicken spicy soy flavour). The fried chicken a day bbq spicy pork were my fave - really packed with flavour, and they even gave us some gloves so we can use our hands to eat the saucy fried chicken. They gave us each a shot when we were wrapping up, and that was a perfect way to end our dinner! Would go back for more 😁

Amazing S(e)oul Food! We had an amazing yummy dinner here. Side dishes (Chicken with sesam crust) and noodles and tofu. For us was the size of the dishes very good and the service was absolutely amazing. Especially Bully who made an amazing service at Swing (if you're looking for amazing Toast you should also have a look there!!) Catched us here β™₯️ For 2 Person with 2 Meals and 2 Sides & Drinks we spend 100$ - so you can actually dine cheaper but the quality and service and taste are good :) Thanks for having us and give us a taste of Korea 🫢

Super delicious food ! It’s like a hipster Korean restaurant, cooking familiar Korean dish with style. Portions are a bit bigger than tapas , I would say 4 appetizers and 1 main was just enough between 2 people. Recommended the noodle salad, chicken skin, zucchini chips and spicy rice cakes !

One of the best dining experiences in Auckland! Beautiful textural food with rich and clean flavour, friendly staff and awesome service. Paul and his team are the best! Thanks for the yummiest dinner ❀️‍πŸ”₯

We had an incredible experience at Ockhee Restaurant last month, one of the highlights of our trip. So good to have a range of delicious vegan options, amongst what were also apparently excellent meat dishes. and excellent drinks. The Potato Jeon and Tofu Dak Gui were personal favourites, and the natty wines were the perfect accompaniment. The team is giving top-notch, friendly service in a cozy atmosphere. A great spot for a date night or a catch-up with old friends. Highest of recommends!

We were so impressed by every detail of our dining experience here - loved it all! - from the friendly, knowledgeable service to the delicious and beautifully prepared food. What's more, there were lots of delicious plant-based options, which is always great! Thanks so much - will definitely be recommending to others. Sarah

Me and my group had an exceptional time here. The food was incredible, creative, and well presented and the service was even better. We could be described as a boisterous group and they were very kind, attentive, and generous with their service. Would recommend to anyone in a heartbeat 15/10.

Delicious food, great vibe and friendly people! The staff explained how to enjoy each dish and made sure that everyone had a wonderful time. I will be back for more for sure!

Delicious modern Korean. Excellent value and a fabulous wine list. My four star rating reflects their lack of seating capacity which means you're likely to be outside (they pull out all stops to make this comfortable but it's not quite the same as being inside), and the dinner menu is a bit limited particularly if you don't like pork. No fish or seafood options. We are keen to come back and try the lunch menu but we'll aim for a warm day.

Everything we ordered was so delicious I was so delighted. We got spicy fried chicken, fritters with roasted veggies & eggplant, beef hot pot and bul bo sam (braised pork flame grilled in sauce) with additional cheese on top. The meat was so tender and warm. The only downside was the hot pot got cold fast in a shallow pan and the tea light candle not enough to keep the heat. Don't know if we got lucky or everything is tasty!

Really great night. Food was exceptional, staff were accomodating and attentive without being overwhelmingly in your face. They were all hilarious and really added to the fun of the night. What was meant to be a quiet dinner turned into something else completely! Thank you so much! Will definitely be back for the food and fun!

Wow. You guys definitely know what you’re doing. Amazing dishes - loved the broccoli and cauliflower and the mushroom dopbap. The natural chilled red wine was something new. I have a funny feeling it’s going to grow on me. Excellent service.

Great for bitsy eating. The tofu mountain is always a fave. And nothing like a classic kfc - the dak gang jeong. I always go for the sweet chilli. There's a seaweed noodle thing that's also super tasty, with such a fun texture. Also not pictured, but the potato jeon is delish!

Fantastic restaurant in Ponsonby. Great food, great drinks, great vibe. The fries chicken wings are a must - shatter-crispy, lightly fried, delicious sauce. Great beverages - soju cocktails, natural wines on tap, local beers. Pork belly, crispy tofu bites with rice cakes, and rice balls all were delicious as well. Chill vibe with lo-fi beats and friendly staff. Reservations recommended. Highly recommend!

Food was delicious. Steamed seaweed noodles were something I've never had before and was a super fun texture. The potato pancake was like a giant potato rosti - which is never a bad thing. Added beef for some protein and it was delicious. Super tender. Bo ssam for the win though. Love the bitsyness of the dish - with super tender pork, and a side of perilla leaves, fermented shrimp, radish and chilli. Drinks wise, we tried the raspberry wine and the Seoul Yuja. The latter was a touch sweet for me, but still tasty. The raspberry wine (Myungjak) was a surprising hit. Would definitely come back to try the rest of the menu.
