Delicious food, friendly staff. All dishes were perfect but are on the salty side. Rosemary potatoes for entrée were particularly good. I'll definitely visit again.

We’ve been to Blitza several times and had their takeaway several times too and each time it really is fabulous. The staff are so kind, warm and friendly and the food is just amazing. The best chicken fettuccine & seafood fettuccine we’ve ever had. The sauce is quite unique, not like others we’ve had which we love. Just delicious, if you’re in the area or even if you’re not it’s something that’s definitely worth a try!

AMAZING! We were travelling for work out of town and found this amazing restaurant. The food was brilliant, staff friendly and nothing was an issue. We enjoyed it so much, we even went back the next night to try another meal! Try the wine.... it was devine! Would highly recommend to anyone.

Absolute yes. Amazing service, great choices, staff were friendly and engaging but left us plenty of space and pace, the steak may have been the best I've had no exaggeration. Even with the dire weather they are clearly a local fav as the aroma of real pizza and other yummy things added to the experience (coming from a non dairy palate still inspiring). I'm a lover of tandoori pizza but not many places do them... So when I saw it on the menu I had to order! Banana on pizza definitely belongs!!!

Have dined in and had takeaway, food is delicious either way. Food is a little pricey, but for the quality and as not taking out every day, it's ok. Owner and staff are friendly, service usually pretty quick too. Dine in, staff are not in your face.

Arrived for my daughter’s birthday after having made a booking to avoid disappointment. We were greeted by someone who seemed to find it funny that we didn’t have a booking in their system, no apologies and no effort to find a compromise. There are so many good restaurants desperate for business in Auckland why would you come here? Customer service shouldn’t be hard and if you can’t do it you shouldn’t be front of house. So disappointed.<br/>

The food was tasty, I will admit. But honestly I wouldnt come back purely because of the pricing. $27 for a 9inch pizza is too expensive, even if its tasty<br/>

Pretty average for the price charged. I found the base quite dry and overall the pizza wasn't very inspiring.

Simple menu, limited vegetarian options but very good quality food. Cheesecake is very good.

Blitza overall is great, the smell when you walk in gets you in the mood for eating! Food was delicious no complaints at all. <br/>Only small small complaint would be the service was a little slack. I enjoyed it either way.

I like this place. A lot. It’s so simple but so good. You don’t need a silver spoon to eat well and this place has it. It’s mostly Mediterranean cuisine. <br/>The staff is welcoming and the environment seems like a little trattoria. <br/>The kind of place you find in Italy or Greece. Pasta is good. Pizza in here is my second fave pizza in Auckland. <br/>They have a gourmet section with interesting flavours. Ordered the chicken with cranberry sauce. <br/>Price is affordable.

Oh Blitza, be still my beating heart. I was taken here by a mate for pizza around 15 years ago and I've been in love ever since. It probably helps that we got engaged there but the food is consistently excellent, service is great and they are so patient with children. I wish that there were 10 stars!! The scallops are always delicious and the Quattro Staggioni (apologies for spelling) pizza is still my favourite pizza in NZ.

Fast & friendly service, nice environment. The snapper pizza is the best pizza I have ever tasted. Would love to try other gourmet pizzas. Also the seafood fettuccine at the table next to us looked amazing.

Your local pizza and Italian food place. Friendly service, with the owner checking in on each table at least once in the evening. Having spent some time in Italy I can say the food is very authentic, the taste is great and all in a very cozy, nice atmosphere. Would definitely recommend

Came in with three others on first table, my steak dish was so flavourful, the eggplant dish was rich. The service was great initially and then things started going downhill.<br/><br/>We did have a hiccup with service into the payment stage which we escalated to their owner. To our suprise the owner was very responsive and exceeded our expectations. Rated a 4 for the hiccup but will give this place another shot later.

This is mine and my partners favourite place to go, we are always so satisfied with our meals. Garlic bread is amazing, capricciosa is his favourite, while there pastas are always amazing

Birthday dinner for a good friend, restaurant was recommended by one of the party guests.<br/><br/>Started off a little shaky, they had gotten the name on the booking wrong, thus we were seated at a table which wasn't for us. Eventually got that sorted once all the guests arrived.<br/><br/>Being late January the restaurant was extremely hot, no fans or aircon and Auckland had gotten up to 28 degrees that day. Really wasn't very pleasant.<br/><br/>Waiter was good and attentive, food arrived as ordered. Was good but nothing special. As with some Italian restaurants the sauce is the same for numerous dishes.<br/><br/>I would recommend the restaurant although I don't see myself ever going again.

There were also a lot of flies as they had their doors open. The food is also a little overpriced, id say the pasta is definitely worth it but not the pizza, the pizza would be great as like a sharing snack but as a main it’s quite plain.<br/><br/>Otherwise it is an amazing little place with great consistently delicious food. Great for family’s and dates (they have colouring pencils and a kids menu I believe). <br/>

I know you’re supposed to write a review after you have dined at a place, but unfortunately we didn’t even get to that point. <br/><br/>We were very excited to arrive here tonight. It looked busy so we waited for 5 minutes to be seated. As it was busy, and staff were involved with customers, we sat at a free table and waited until there was a moment free to ask for menus. Once that moment came, an older man came over and asked us “what do you want”, so we happily asked for menus, which he then proceeded to give us a stern telling off about not waiting for staff to seat us and how we would have never been served if he had not seen us. <br/><br/>We thought sitting would help them out as they were very busy (and we didn’t want to be in the way of walking space), but our introduction was a rude and stern telling off as though we were naughty children. <br/><br/>We left immediately.

Visited Blitza a handful of times with family, lovely restaurant with a delicious menu, so hard to pick with all the tasty options. My favourite meal is the pan-fried snapper, the salad and fish are always so fresh. Snapper is fried and seasoned perfectly and the salad dressing is creamy and tangy, I love it! When in Birkenhead, give Blitza a go, you won’t be disappointed!

Yummy ! <br/><br/>Tried the calamari for starter, probably one of the best calamari I have had ! What you expect to get when you go to a restaurant.<br/><br/>Lasagne for main - delectable, again one of the best I've had . Tried a bit of the vegetable lasagne also and that was super tasty also. <br/><br/>Lovely staff very attentive. Will definitely return again soon

Food yum, pasta is good and so is the pizza. Was great with the children. Staff great and good service. I brought a takeaway pizza too and the person I gave it to enjoyed it.

Had the awarding winning lamb pizza was fantastic. My partner had the seafood pasta she said it was great and very generous portion. Fries were ok not the best but ok came with aoli and tomato sauce generous serving. We also had pizza bread which had a nice crispy base. As these portions were larger than we anticipated. I had a few slices of pizza remaining and she had a small dish of pasta to take home too. (This was our first time dining here) . Friendly staff and attentive to the customer. Excellent customer service. Will definitely return!

Pretty appalled by the service tonight. We didn't book and although there were 2 tables free , weren't allowed to sit. We ordered takeaway but asked if a table became free before the food was ready we would love to eat in. We had already waited a long time to be served. A table emptied and the waiter said we could have it. The owner then came up and said no because it was a different price to eat in and walked off. It was a busy night, but service goes a long way. We would have been happy to pay more, and would have bought drinks etc. We definitely felt like he treated us rudely. We would think twice before returning.

Came in tonight to to get 2 pizzas and two just plain cheese pizzas ..( for the kids ),over $70 dollars ...??,all small /regular pizzas ...( not large ),,,average pizzas .re the quality and amount of fresh ingredients on them ..( Quality and service has dropped away st this place ),,for that price ..I must say and should be large for that price ..will try the other Italian place next door next time as Their pizzas are all large and one price ..large only ..better value for money ..and the service was curt I must say...

Went for dinner last night. Food was excellent but service was lacking. Waited forever to be served and food took a long time. Nobody asked if we wanted something to drink. But food was good when it eventually came.

Maybe an off night but wasn't too impressed...a bit pricey & not extremely friendly...place was fairly busy and normally really enjoy a night out but sadly not this time...will look at other options next time....

Been here so many times now and the food it alway constantly good. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Couldn't recommend it enough for a great everyday restaurant. Really really should have a higher rating a few complainers bring it down.

Been to Blitza a couple of times with family and the food is great - presented well and delicious. However, the staff could be friendlier and wait time for the food was a little long.

Great staff, amazing food. I've found Italian restaurants do amazing steak! Order the scallop entree which was amazing and cooked to perfection . Overall very pleasant experience. Great casual dinner for a Saturday night with friends at a local ☺️

Been here a few times over the years! Love the pasta dishes and the salt and pepper squid. Nice atmosphere, service is ok. A Bit pricey but worth it.

Fantastic food and lovely wait staff except for one old guy who literally ruined our night. We booked online for a 5.30pm reservation and got an approval email. We were going out for a meal as a family (so had a toddler and a baby with us) so were planning on being out of there by about 7 - long before the restaurant got busy. 15 minutes before our reservation (while we were in the car driving there) we got an email from the manager saying that they were actually fully booked for the evening, but that they've moved things around and have a table for us until 7pm if that was ok. (Not sure why their reservation system allowed us to book, but anyway, that was fine). We didn't read the email in time but the wait staff explained everything when we got there - no problem with us. Sat down at our table and asked for a highchair for our daughter. Literally two minutes after we sat down, before the waiter had even had time to bring us the highchair, the old guy came over and told us we needed to hurry up and order as "other people were coming and they need to order to! And don't forget you need to be out of here ASAP!" So we ordered our food - as heaven forbid we hold up other people - and when it arrived it was delicious. Great kids meals and they catered diligently to our GF needs. At 6.20 we ordered our deserts - just three ice cream sundaes. We were actually still eating our mains when we ordered but wanted to make sure we were out of there quickly. At 6.45 our deserts still hadn't arrived - the old guy came over to us and instead of asking how things were going and could he help with anything, he simply opened with "how much longer are you going to be? The people that need this table after you have arrived already, and they are waiting!" (ironically there was an empty 4-seater table just to our right....) The rest of the wait staff looked noticeably embarrassed. We explained we are waiting for our deserts which we had ordered nearly 30 mins ago, he didn't offer to go and see where they were, just advised he was "doing what he was told" and walked away. We waiting another 5 minutes and then decided we would just cancel our deserts, just as I got up to do that the wait staff brought them out, I said I didn't think we would have time to eat them and explained what the old guy had said... they were really apologetic, went away and came back and explained that they had moved things around  so we can stay as long as we needed to. Rushed through our deserts as to be honest neither of us adults were enjoying the night anymore, and got up to pay. There was still an empty table to our right. As we were standing in the queue the old guy came up to us again and started shouting at us, basically said I had told lies to the wait staff about what he had said to us, in front of what was at that point a room full of diners (Except, of course, the table to our right. That was still empty).Won't be visiting again as long as that guy is there - such as shame as the food, other staff and overall experience was great.

Had dinner at this restruant, the place look pretty nice and the customer service was great. The owner was really friendly and came over and talked to us asking how the food was. We ordered vegetarian pizza and fettucine, and both dishes were excellent in flavour. My first time dining at Blitza tonight (sat) for dinner , place was reasonably<br/>Quiet only 2-3 other tables full which was nice , we decided to skip the starter and are glad we did as the entrees we ordered <br/>-calamari &a the prawns were a very generous portion, both id rate a 4/10.<br/>For our main we ordered the chicken cannaloni which was a bit heavily seasoned with pepper but was otherwise good , we also had the seafood fettuccine which was also a nice dish - generous with the seafood - overall we were pleased with the food , the service was very friendly and helpful - i also noticed both the restaurant and bathroom was very clean which is always nice when your eating out ! The restaurant it's self is tastefully decorated none of that tacky Italian Decor you sometimes see , we will definitely<br/>Visit again

Being a local Blitza has always been one of my favourites places to go, either dine in or takeaway - always great service, friendly staff and amazing food!

Had always walked past this place which has been in Birkenhead for years and went here for dinner last night after reading other reviews about how good the food was. We weren't disappointed - 2 pasta dishes and a kids meal (good sized Hawaiian pizza which my son loved - the ham on it was top quality and plenty of pineapple).The kids meal was a good size and includes a drink and dessert, all both good sizes. The pasta dishes didn't look that big when they came out but we were pushed to finish them and they were good. Had the Bailey's cheesecake for dessert which was yum and comes with cream and ice cream - if you are into desserts they have a good selection, so save some room!  We were here on a Friday night - they were fully booked and were turning people away, it's not a huge place so I'm glad we booked. The staff were friendly and the owner is a bit of a character, in a nice way. It was a good food experience and will be going back.

Came here for an early dinner and the staff were very accommodating, letting us move tables away from a noisy table of children. We had the pizza bread as a starter that wash delicious but slightly too salty. I ordered the chicken cannelloni and my partner had the steak with prawns. My partner said it was the best steak he ever had. Portion sizes were good and staff were helpful with putting my leftovers in a takeaway tub. Service was great but started to drop off as it got busier. Would definitely recommend but suggesting going early to avoid the busy rush. Looked popular with the locals as lots of people came in to get takeaways.

went to this place twice.. very warm feeling and my first visit was amazing .. however second visit have made me to change my thoughts abt this pizza place.. the pizza was made in super rush and the vegetables and cheese was not even baked ..

Beautiful flavours! We ordered a Tandori Chicken (on a GF base) and a Mexican...both were divine...our only criticism was the Base on the GF was burnt around the edges...but the lovely toppings more than made up for it!<br/>

Old Blitza has been around for years man! I think to myself surely, one day it must end up used, chewed up and spat out - But she's far from heading in that direction! <br/><br/>For great tasting Italian food go to Blitza! We had the perfectly cooked eye fillet steak and mushroom main 8/10 and the sea food pasta (huge scallops ) 8/10 good hearty, constant tasty food!

I was recommended this restaurant by my Italian friend who knows genuine Italian food! This place always delivers a high quality of food. Although the pizzas are not woodfire they still are packed full of punch with an excellent range of ingredients. The restaurant itself is nice and quiet, tucked away in Birkenhead, surprisingly doesn't get very busy. Awesome for a date night or for a big group if you wanted. I recommend the tandoori chicken pizza!!

Absolutely my favorite place to dine out! great Italian food and great service.  Quite a small place but very cozy and great atmosphere. The spaghetti bolognaise and the seafood fettuccine are to die for, as is the garlic pizza bread.  I have not found a pizza bread as good as this one, anywhere in Auckland.  I would highly recommend Blitza, their pizzas are awesome but the rest of their menu definitely keeps up the high standard.

Seating was a bit awkward but the food was amazing. Great pizzas and service. Loved seeing the staff actually cleaning up and polishing glassed and attending customers.

This is my mums favourite so I have dined here with her quite a few times. It's such a cozy little place, love the atmosphere, food is excellent & service is usually pretty good too! We visited tonight & shared a pizza bread to start. this was light fresh & flavoursome a perfect way to start a meal. For mains I had a seafood steak & my mum had the seafood fettuccine both of these were delicious & cooked perfectly. We were to full for dessert which was a shame as blitza does a delicious baileys cheesecake which I would also recommend.

Average pizza and over-price for what you get. Pasta dishes ok but way over-priced! Staff with some attitude and for no reason. Won't be going back again.

Pretty good pizza; we had the vegetarian with the avocado topping, the prawn and the mexican pizza. Nice crisp pizz base with decent chunky topping. Definitely goumet level pizza. On the expensive side 25-35$ a pizza; three pizzas would feed four people.<br/><br/>3.5 Yums

Have always wanted to try Blitza but just never gotten around too it. Decided on takeaway pizza Sunday and wanted to go a bit gourmet and try Blitza. First the restaurant and beautiful and staff are friendly. I ordered 2 pizzas and chips and it was ready in 10 mins which was perfect. <br/>Pizza was still hot when i got home and tastes sooo good !! <br/>Ill be sure to revisit in the near future

That is really great place, we had a big crowd about 11 people and 3 kids. Staff is awesome, food is gorgeous, we brought our wine and just pay 6 dollars on top. We spent 5 hours and even did not noticed how time passed by. Definitely recommend it for everybody.

We had a very nice meal, just had garlic pizza bread to start with which was awesome, then lasagne for me and chicken cannelloni for my girlfriend, standard presentation but very flavoursome and tasty. <br/><br/>I finished off with the affogato which was amazing. <br/><br/>Nice atmosphere, nice food, nice staff, thank you.

Blitza used to be an awkward place to dine. Their staff can be pushy, and unfriendly and payment used to be a hassle for large groups. But much has changed since then. <br/><br/>Their food is always gorgeous. My favourite pasta is the chicken cannelloni, and their coffee is good too. Their Pizzas are always made well, if a little pricey. I love their cheesy pizza bread with dips. It is the best. <br/><br/>The atmosphere is tight, and cosy. Which, depending on your occasion is either good or bad.<br/><br/>Room for improvement: their fries are not the best, but everything else is done well. <br/><br/>Blitza has been a staple in Birkenhead and I still have much to try!

Been going here for many years, food is devine, great kids menu comes with salad on the plate not just fries. Favourites are the Tandoori Pizza and the Vege or Chicken Canelloni for our family. The service is fantastic and very friendly, highly recommend to all!

I went here on Monday night for dinner and had an enjoyable time, although, this place is definitely overrated. Firstly, the service, we had two waitresses serve us during the evening. One of whom was fabulous and one who was rude and disengaged. She really is bringing the service standard down. My friend was still eating her meal and the waitress asked if she could take her plate away. She wasn't friendly and it seemed like she really didn't want to be there. Now on to the food. I had the smoked chicken pizza and found it average. The problem with this pizza was that the ingredients weren't cut up enough. Each slice of pizza had one large strip of chicken, capsicum and avocado on it. While it looked nice, it made it hard to get all of the flavours in each bite. The pizza was pretty tasty though. The base was nothing special but was nice enough. My friend ordered the seafood fettuccine which she really enjoyed. It seems pasta is their specialty. We also shared some garlic bread and a Greek salad. The garlic bread was very salty but the Greek salad was absolutely perfect, they get a 5/5 for that. So all in all, I found this place a bit up and down. I did enjoy the food here but definitely think there is room for improvement at this restaurant.

Wow fantastic place! Little Italian gem in Birkenhead with pizza that has to be some of the best I've tried. Had a Mediterranean pizza (won an international award) which was amazing! The staff are really friendly and even had a bit of a laugh between courses with them. Will definitely be going back to try some more pizza and the different pasta on offer.

My favourite Italian style restaurant and family oriented restaurant in Auckland by far. I have been a patron for more than 13 years and keep going back almost every weekend, mostly for take away meals. The dine in experience has also been very pleasant.<br/>The food is excellent due to the high quality fresh ingredients used and the care taken in preparation. The owner chef is on duty most nights, or has a very capable deputy in place. The restaurant is comfortable with a positive atmosphere, and is children friendly. My family have tried most dishes on the menu, and have always had an excellent meal. Including pizza, pasta, salads, chips and desserts. My personal favourites are Chicken Cannelloni, Greek Salad, the best chips I have tasted (made in canola oil I believe) and either a Barbecue Chicken Pizza or Honey Thai Pizza. Finished off with Tiramisu dessert.<br/>Highly recommended. Well done to Blitza Pizza staff.<br/>From Georgina and family.

A good local pizza pasta place. You pay for what you get. Service was cold at first but warmed up. I had the lamb kebab which was ok, nothing special. Evidently the pastas are really good.

Birkenhead now has a great selection of eateries and this is a good. Friendly team supported by a wide choice of items on the menu. The Fettuccine was excellent following a starter of chicken livers.<br/><br/>Will be returning.<br/>

Worst pizza I have ever tasted. I ordered the Prosciutto which consisted of a vile biscuit type base reminiscent of a frozen McCain job, topped with a vomit-like stodgy topping with chunks of champagne ham and far too many herbs. Bang went my beautiful vision of a thin, crispy delicious delicacy oozing with melted mozzarella and delicate prosciutto. Inedible. Avoid!!!!!

Returned to Blitza last night after a fairly long period without visiting, and had an amazing meal. Glad to see the standards are still exceptionally high - both service and the quality of the food. Great night out and great value for money. Will be returning in the near future! Wish they would sell the salad dressing so I could have some at home as its amazing

For almost the last 20 years Lee and his crew have been making the BEST Pizza I have ever had. The Pasta dishes and Steak have always been cooked to perfection and enjoyed by our whole family. The friendly atmosphere has always made for a great night.

Our favorite place for takeaway pizza, always hot and tasty. They do a great tiramisu which you can also get to go. Can be a long wait (40min) on a busy night like a Saturday but worth it, once you've had their pizza you won't go back to the other tasteless pizzas out there!

The food is good, but the service was pretty shocking the two times we went. We were hidden away in the corner and spent half an hour trying to flag down a waitress to take a drinks order and eventually one of us stood at the bar and waited for attention. Not ideal. A common problem with New Zealand restaurants, though. Upsell, guys! We want to buy numerous beverages, not just the traditional drinks order before the meal order is taken!

My favorite restaurant. Friendly service, great comfortable atmosphere. <br/>My husband and i order the Calamari and Scallop entrees. The scallops are cooked to perfection every time and the calamari is delicious! These two entrees are simply the best.<br/>The waitress was friendly and accommodating running me through the Red wine list and providing me with an excellent choice.<br/>Husband and I both ordered the aged eye fillet and they are divine. the steak is cooked to perfection and we couldn't be happier!. we always come away satisfied and enjoy the food immensely.

Myself and a group of girlfriends go here regularly. Always great and never fails to please. :O)

Went there last night and had the best restaurant meal I've had in ages even though my order was very simple. An entree of calamari and an entree Greek salad, which came together on a single plate and both were delicious.<br/><br/>I was beginning to think that restaurants around Auckland are losing their touch for simple delicate fresh flavours, but Blitza was great.

We recently ate at Blitza and had a great time. The service was excellent and the food tasty and plentiful. I'm told the steak was perfectly cooked and the best eaten in a long while. My scallops were large and beautiful and the pizzas were pronounced delicious as usual. My only gripe is that the restaurant was very hot inside and could perhaps benefit from a few fans to cool the atmosphere. Apart from that we were well pleased and will return again.

Godly Takeaway and eat in. Much flavour, even the waitress look tasty..!

We went to Blitza on a Tuesday night, we were welcomed and shown to our table by the maitre’d, water was brought to the table and we asked if the restaurant was BYO, We were told that Tuesday night is the only night they have BYO. <br/>The maitre’d gave us the menus and suggested some garlic bread for the table, whilst pouring our wine, Our first impressions very friendly and welcoming.<br/><br/>The restaurant is decorated in warm burgundy colours with rustic exposed brick work, and furnished with wooden tables and chairs, the seating arrangement is good, the tables are not too close to other tables and patrons.<br/><br/>We were not that hungry but wanted to taste a selection of the food on the menus so we opted to share plates between two, some restaurants frown at this but blitza were accommodating. <br/>We had the garlic bread to start, followed by a starter of calamari, feta salad and meat lover’s pizza which we requested was all brought out at the same time. The food was great, tasty, hot, and well presented, good portions i would have struggled to eat what we had ordered on my own. <br/><br/>We would go back again and have since our initial visit, and again exceptional service, and great food, we tried the lasagne this time and tiramisu, which was to die for.

A very nice restaurant, owner and staff great friendly , service is excellent and the food is the also excellent. Once you have been to this place you will be back time and time again, I'd would recommend this to anyone who enjoys their food.

Their peperoni pizza has gotta be one of the best in Auckland

This is one of the best restaurants around, I take my (extremely picky) family there and they never complain about the service or the food (they will complain anywhere else).<br/><br/>Definitely try the pizzas - the Mediterranean is gorgeous
