Excellent food. Excellent prices. Excellent service. Will go again.

Visited for the first time for a takeaway. The portion size is good and the decor is very pleasing. The vegetarian pad thai was delicious. Also order the aromatic ginger stir fried vegetables with jasmine rice, which was yum. Nice thai in Birkenhead.

Visited this place a while back and absolutely loved their drunken spaghetti. It is so flavour full and one of the best Thai place for vegetarian dishes I've found so far. I did also order the vegetarian summer rolls which I was not a huge fan of, but their galngal coconut milk soup was absolutely delicious as well. If this place wasn't super far from where I live it would be on my frequent visit list.

This is the third trip to Primerose- and I find it a consistently good restaurant. The duck curry in particular was mind-blowing! I also enjoyed the coconut milk galangal soup. And I always love the decor of this place! The service is friendly as well. Highly recommended! Portion sizes might look small but the food is extremely filling. Will be back!

Lovely little restaurant with exceptionally good food. The price was fantastic for 4 people and staff are so nice. What a great find. Will definitely be back!

Came here before lockdown, and enjoyed my experience. They had a really cool mirror which made the restaurant look double the size of the actual restaurant. Each seat had a really cute napkin folded like a flower - which is definitely fitting for the name of the restaurant. <br/>I wanted to use zomato gold - but they needed to be a little bit more specific in what dishes were excluded from zomato which got a bit confusing due to a slight language barrier but we got there in the end! (After multiple order changes and the waitress getting slightly impatient with us). <br/>Food wise - everything was great! My favourite was definitely the curry puffs.

The food was really nice but the wait time was ridiculous. We were waiting for well over an hour for our food.<br/><br/>The staff were working really hard and seemed super busy but it just took ages to get our food so we were super hungry. There weren't that many people in the restaurant and yes there were a few takeaways being made but they took ages too. It would have been nice to know what was happening because they didn't tell us it would take a while. After an hour I went to ask and was told it's about 5 minutes away. I don't think we would have minded as much if we were kept in the loop but I felt really let down that they didn't tell us or even check on us while we waited. We had to go and ask for more water.<br/><br/><br/>Whilst the food was good I don't think we'll be back again as it wasn't exactly worth the wait.

My partner and I went here this evening for dinner and were the only 2 people in the restaurant. My meal came out and his didn’t come out for 10 minutes after that. Which wasn’t a nice experience as we wanted to be eating together. Food was tasty but not the best when you’re wanting to eat at the same time

Delicious Thai food I. Birkenhead. Didn't know the restaurant was there until recently but it's well worth it. Ordered the chicken yellow curry and it was delicious! High5yl recommend. Will be back again

The food was good- lamb massuman curry and duck curry was delicious.<br/><br/>The service was a slight let down though, with a disinterested waitress and wrong orders (served incorrect dish, and also missed a dish).

Pretty average experience, food took a while to come out and the portion size was really small, as you can see from the photo. It is on the cheaper end of the scale for a Thai restaurant though with most mains $19-$23 for seafood. Primrose is pink themed from the napkins and glasses to the painting on the wall. One whole wall of the restaurant is a mirror. I can’t imagine many people like watching themselves eat but it does give the impression that the place is more spacious than it really is.

Awesome place to dine in. Love the atmosphere, friendly staff member. Highly recomended!!!

A cozy little Thai restaurant. Friendly staff with a clean and quite dining environment.<br/><br/>The chicken tom yum soup was well flavored and not overly spicy. The vermicelli roll was refreshing but the roll had too much lettuce and not enough noodles. <br/><br/>The duck with lychee curry was excellent, the duck was tender and flavorful, the curry was creamy with a bit of fruity sweetness. The lamb massamun curry had a great flavor, however the lamb was slightly tough. The beef stir fry was also not that tender.<br/><br/>Moderate portions compared to the price. Overall great flavorings to the dishes, but some of the meat could be more tender.<br/><br/>Taste: 8.5/10<br/>Presentation: 7/10<br/>Service: 9/10<br/>Ambience: 7.5/10<br/>Value for money: 7.5/10<br/><br/>Price $35 per person excl alcohol

We have been 2 or 3 times after finding them on Zomato. The food portion is not too big and not too small which is great. All the dishes we have tried have been delicious and comfortable dining area. Would definitely recommend Primerose Thai Cusine.

Went here for the first time on Father’s Day and we all loved it ☺️😋 the chicken green curry was hands down the best green curry I’ve ever had! None of the mains come with rice and the portions were smaller than all of the other Thai restaurants we’ve been to but other than that, we loved it and will definitely be back!

The restaurant was clean and well presented on arrival with a waterfall feature that created a lovely ambiance to match Selena Gomez and One Direction playing on TV.   The mirror wall makes the room feel spacious while providing a simple means for a subtle $wag check. <br/><br/>We indulged in the signature 'Duck and Lychee Curry' and the 'Vegetarian Red Curry' both with rice and a roti to die for. Both meals were large portions which satisfied the munchies and still left us wanting more. <br/><br/>Service was great and being a Zomato Gold Partner really tickled my pickle... will be back for a BYO in the near future.

4 of us came here for dinner, we had 1 dish and a bowl of rice each. The service was good, nice tidy restaurant, enjoyable dinner atmosphere. I had lamb masssaman curry, and I found it tasted almost exactly the same as the green curry my friend ordered. I didn't feel like the lamb had been braised for a long time in the curry sauce, and the flavours were lacking depth and dimension. Overall, this was an okay place to come for dinner but I wouldn't come back as the food wasn't spectacular.

Nice environment and service. Food was good. I forgot to take photos, but it’s quite nice to have dinner for two people. we choose the sweet and sore beef, and ginger chicken.

The red duck curry is the star of the show. Unbelievably tasty - high-quality ingredients, lots of flavour, good portion size that usually covers me for dinner and leftovers for the next day's lunch (much to the envy of my coworkers).

Visited on a Thursday night - service was pretty efficient. We ordered pad thai and chicken cashew and they tasted very delicious! Not too sweet or salty, i found them just right. Downside is the portion tend to be smaller compared to other thai restaurants. For $19 a dish we expect a decent portion but I can’t complain when i’m getting 1-for-1 with Zomato Gold. :) will be back if i’m around the area.

Drawn here as gold members. Been twice now. Came back the second time due to just how good the duck curry is. The second time was a smidgen too sweet in sugar than the first time. Lovely staff and a great setting with a brilliant feature wall / mirror to have the sense and feel of a large restaurant. We will be booking ourselves in again

Nice place- good food. Service was slow and a bit frustrating as the servers didn't speak much English. Portion sizes were small-town but typical of most Thai places. Plenty of prawns on my stir-fty though! Yay!

I really like the service. The food is a bit hit and miss. The first I went the cashew nut stir fry was next level- in a 'please just start me on an IV with that sauce!' But the second time the curries were mediocre and the two vegetable dishes lacked variety of vegetables.. though I don't hate homogeneous food, it just seemed a little skimpy.

Great cashew chicken and chicken thai green curry. Lots of meat. Could do with a few more vegetables. Regular customer and will keep coming back.

Really enjoyed my meal the yellow curry was so good lots of flavour also the garlic pepper stir fry and the cashew nut stir fry was also good definitely would go back to this place highly recommended very tasty.

Primrose Thai cuisine has very rich curries with very savoury flavors. We tried roasted duck curry and Pad Thai noodles. Both dishes were amazing and the restaurant is brilliantly designed to feel spacious. The age old technique of using a giant mirror to produce the illusion of space is used but not in any gaudy way. It's a nice place to be at, for having some good Thai cuisine.

My Partner and I went to this restaurant for an early dinner, after work, on a weekday.<br/>The place is very neat, tidy and well-decorated.<br/>Had veg green curry and egg fried rice, for only $19.<br/>Already been there twice in the past one month, as the green curry is amazing!<br/>Thank You to Zomato Gold that we could avail 1+1 offer on the food.

Literally the best place for Thai in Auckland! We love their food. Cosy little restaurant, polite staff, quick service, delectable food, it's just perfect. If I had to be picky, I'd say the portion sizes could be a bit bigger, but otherwise would highly recommend.

My friend said she enjoyed her Vegetarian Pad Thai. <br/><br/>The interior of the restaurant was very elegant but cosy, and I thought the pink napkins being folded into the shape of a rose was a beautiful touch. <br/><br/>Beautiful restaurant but the food wasn’t particularly spectacular, thus I probably would not make a return back.

My experience was very similar to other recent feedback. The curry was very nice. The seafood dish that we ordered was a little too sweet. The chicken satay skewer was okay. The staff was friendly enough.

Great food, the dishes were balanced, authentic and reasonably priced. We had the cashew chicken, tropical rice ginger sauce chicken and fried rice. Everything was tasteful and delicious.

We had the green curry with beef and roti, and the coconut milk soup (vegetarian). I loved how flavoursome the dishes were, and how they were abundantly seasoned with dill and ginger. The menu may be pricy but the food and pretty decor makes up for it. A perfect place for a date.

The premises is attractive and the service was friendly enough but the food didn't taste like authentic Thai food. The curry puffs were good but the curries were sickly sweet to the point we couldn't finish them. The meat in the curries were tastey—particularly the lamb—but just so sweet it made us feel sick after. I couldn't recommend Primrose Thai based on the food but the restaurant itself it's quite cute.

Just like other Zomato Gold restaurants, we were not able to use a fish dish as first menu. Staff weren't the friendliest but nice enough. Food was great but little too sweet. I think restaurants should know zomato gold customers are important because we dine alot and it's best chance to showcase for future repeated visits. Update: I came here to give second chance like giving ex a second chance but despite there were one group before us, all Uber eats delivery pick ups took place first then we received pad Thai and duck salad only after 40 mins... And $23 for tiny prawn Thai is so expensive

Really delicious food that offers variety and a point of difference. Is reasonably priced too! Will continue to eat here. Thoroughly recommend the cashew chicken stirfry!

Would highly recommend. This is my Thai food go to place. Every item I’ve tried so far of the menu was great. Always quick and friendly service. Try the aromatic ginger stirfry with chicken, and absolute delight.

My new go to in Birkenhead. Staff were extremely catering and the food was amazing, could have done with a bit more spice but I didn't ask for it so can't complain. Will definitely be back

This is our 2nd visit during our vacation. Authentic and they have a fantastic priced lunch menu. The Thai food is delicious. we'll be back again!

We’ve had their food before and thoroughly enjoyed their preparations.<br/>Unfortunately, we had a particularly rude staff member ruin our evening tonight - by showing no courtesy and rushing us to order as she was concerned for the UBEREats order rush that was about to occur. Extremely rude and put us off our meal so we ended up leaving. <br/>Disappointed that you let your staff get away with such behaviour.

Last night was my first visit to Primerose for dinner.  I was quite impressed with the place even though it is quite small and sometimes a bit hard to walk around the tables.<br/>I ordered the chicken green curry and it was fantastic.  Also ordered as a Starter the Chicken Satay with peanut butter and it was one of the best I ever had.<br/>The waitress was very friendly too.  The food took a bit long to come but it was a minor thing as I was the first to arrive on a Friday night but after 20 minutes there was pretty much no seat available.Well, It was one of the best choices of restaurant I made recently and definitely will come back to try other dishes.

The blandest Thai food I’ve ever eaten. Ordered the Garlic Pepper Chicken which was neither garlicy nor peppery & the chicken was dry and rubbery. Save your money and book a table down the road

Primerose Thai is a little Thai restaurant tucked amongst other eateries in Birkenhead.<br/><br/>• Well decorated and had a fantastic service.<br/>• Food is yum, but the taste has been improvised to cater to European likings (flavours are on a much sweeter, less spicy note). Thus, you'll see more European market Vs Asians here.<br/><br/>Also, we've noticed that they have heaps of Uber Eats orders... Just FYI, when you don't feel like driving out for your Thai fix.

Fantastic authentic thai cuisine. Large portions and great range of options to cater or all tastes. Friendly attentive staff and great service. Freshly prepared meals served in a timely manner. Great atmosphere with the feeling of plenty of<br/>space with the full wall mirror. Small and intimate dining. Pleasure to celebrate my mothers 77th tonight. Highly recommend it a must try. Thankyou guys I will return.... soon.

By far the best Thai restaurant we tried on the Shore :) our favs are pad thai and panang curry. Lovely staffs and relaxing ambiance. Looking forward to try more of their dishes (if i can resist the temptation of pad thai next time...)

This little thai restaurant has a beautiful ambience with a rose theme. Plenty of vegetarian options available. Entree- tofu and mushroom satay with yummilicious peanut sauce.Coconut rice was absolutely delicious with Cashew nut Stir fried tofu n veggies.A must go for Thai lovers

Service is good, waitresses are authentic and the the food tastes very close to the real thing. The ambiance and the decor are lovely. Definetely recommended.

I ordered through Uber eats and ordered a beef Penang curry and in the special notes I wrote “no beef add chicken”. I have ordered the same thing before on Uber eats. My order arrived and it had tofu in which I cannot eat as I’m allergic. After 10 attempts to contact the restraunt I finally got through and spoke to a women who proceeded to tell me it was my fault and she is busy and read it as “no beef no chicken” I said I’m sorry your busy but I cannot eat tofu can you please remake my<br/>Order and send it to me ? She told me it’s not her fault and hung up on me.<br/>Disgusting customer service and will never be ordering from these people again.

We have walked past many times so thought we must pop in for a Friday night dinner. Now we wish that we had done that sooner. Great Thai food with good service. Can recommend the chicken satay, Pad Thai and duck curry. Best duck curry in Birkenhead. Even the teenage son is raving about the Pad Thai. We will definitely be back.

Decided to try this place in Birkenhead-small and cute decor but was after a hot Thai curry so went for takeaway.<br/><br/>Great service though they did question my request for Thai hot for both curries-panang and green curry! Glad I did ask for it hot as it has a nice spice and though the addition of providing me fresh chillies to make it hotter was a nice touch. Was recommended to get the roti and normal rice.<br/><br/>Definitely will get takeaways from here! Now I'm also keen to try the drunken spaghetti which is apparently extra spicy!

I came here for my birthday dinner with 13 other people. The restaurant staff catered well to the large number and were very accommodating for the two guests with a vegan diet. The food was tasty and looked lovely too. A great night.

Our new go to place to eat! We've been here countless times and food never fails to amaze. Each dish is so flavourful and good portions too. Some of the best Thai food Ive ever had 😁 Would highly recommend for everyone to try it out! Im sure you will love it too

Love it! We make it a fortnightly catch up here and it's great. Haven't had anything we haven't enjoyed so far (the Tom Kha is especially good) Fantastic staff too 😊

There is a saying, dont judge a book by its cover..... that seems to apply here. Walk past this store, the picture on their menu doesnt seem appealing....(the menu design and photo taking needs more kick) However when you scoop the first spoon into your mouth....The taste was unbelieveably delicious! Had Pad kee mao & Mussaman Curry.<br/>Waitress is very friendly and offered the recommendation for the best experience: chicken with kee mao & beef with curry..... <br/>Overall, recommended to come and try. P.S. if you dare, try Thai Spicy😄

Only been here a couple of times but the service has been really friendly and efficient.  The food is great and reasonably priced.  I haven't eaten in the restaurant only takeaway but I wouldn't go anywhere else on the shore now for Thai.  The restaurant never seems busy so I hope word gets around soon that this is a good place to go :)

Had a great meal at this new Thai restaurant in Birkenhead. Absolutely beautiful food. 8 of us went & all of us enjoyed it. Great service too, really nice helpful friendly waitress. Looking forward to going back again.

Do not underestimate this place. Staff were soooo accomodating and very nice. We were looking for a place to eat and wanted to try something new then we saw this place. It was around 4.20pm at the time, and we thought they were already open but dinner time opens at 5pm. So instead of turning us away and making us wait for half an hour, they just asked us to wait for 15 more minutes and then we can come in. How amazing is that? The food did not disappoint either. I know that Thai food is almost always spicy so when I ordered the green thai curry I was preparing myself but the lady said that their food there is not spicy, only mild. ~ So another tick again on my check list. (I'm just not sure if you could request your food to be spicy if you want?) The Pad thai was the bomb! Oh, and did I forget to mention, for $2.50 you get unlimited rice? ... They don't try to hide it either, staff actually comes to you and asks if you want more! (Double thumbs up)<br/><br/>Definitely deserves a 5 star for me (A rare occurence) and I shall definitely recommend and take my friends here next time. Keep up the good work guys!<br/><br/>P.S. I love the set up of this place! The mirror made the place look so big, I was surprised to see my reflection when we came in, lol!

What a fantastic find and a great addition to the neighbourhood.  The turmeric chicken soup was fantastic and something we have never experienced here or in Thailand. Dropped by this place today thinking it may be just another Thai takeaway yet to be surprised by the almost-fine-dinning level of experience: course-by-course dish serving, very polite and sweet waitering and great entrees (Rice Crackers is fantastic - there are more pieces served than showed in the photo as it was taken half of eating already). Will definitely come back.

Love this new Thai option in Birkenhead. Have tried all the others in the area and nothing beats it. Coming from Melbourne where we had an ambundance of quality Thai food options this has finally met those standards. Have only ever got takeaway but on all 3 occasions have loved it - especially my husband who is a fussy eater. Have tried the prawn pad thai, chicken red curry and the beef masaman. All great and such big quantities!  Can't see their phone number on here though... 09 4180 555.

Been here three times now. Overall it's fantastic, and would come again. The food is wonderful, they have delicious vegetarian options, and friendly staff. I would recommend the pad ginger.

Really poor. The spring rolls were good. We got two other main dishes, they were a good size, good amounts of meat and vegetables but the both of the sauces were a terrible flavour. I wouldn't go back or recommend going to anyone.
