Review Gelato & Torta - Birkenhead

Newly open for a month in Birkenhead. Its not only a cafe, it's a gelato and total. I asked the owner about the meaning of the name. He said that his ideas is to have a Italian shop. I don't need to mention those general items in the shop but have to mention the gelato. I would say it is a must try. We have the feijoa, the tiramisu and the matcha favours ; they are all wonderful.

A great cafe with a nice vibe and a big panorama window where you can indulge in people watching without having the noice from the passing cars. The owners are very friendly and we got out meals in no time. By the way the meals we had were really good. I can recommend the mince on toast and the eggs benedict

Very wide selection of food to choose from, particularly savory options. The chicken burger was excellent - pretty large, chicken meat was not overcooked and decent amount of sauce and tomatoes. The aoli had slightly too much mustard for my liking, but the fries were great. The chocolate fudge was ok, not worth buying again (chocolate quality wasn't excellent, and didn't have a fudgy, rich consistency.) Overall, a good little cafe. Would come back to try some other options in the future.

We stopped in at a good time...our choice of table and quick service. The order was repeated back so we were reassured it would be right. The gelato and milkshake were just the thing for a hot afternoon and the toasted sandwiches were generous in their portion and did not skimp on filling.

New Gelato & Torta corner shop! The WiFi of the late Shanghaiese owner is very friendly and helped make me feel very comfortable with my full banana boat ice cream on a glass platter! Also gave me great recommendations any tourist would love!

My partner and I come most Sundays and I'm glad we discovered this awesome place. The food is amazing and the coffee is excellent, so we will definitely be back!

What a nice cafe! A good, varied menu. Very competitive prices. Friendly, prompt service. And the best strawberry milkshakes on the Shore.

Always lovely customer service! Have only tried the milkshakes and iced coffee which is delicious! Will have to try the slices next time I go as they look amazing!

They are such a sweet couple that run it. They have a crazy wide range of meal types. Perfect for Ubereats orders as you can get almost anything.

Have our team meeting here and always good service and a good flat white! Need to try out their other coffees!

Worst customer service I've ever seen. Made me contemplate calling 105 (police non-urgent #) after being fought on a refund even after cancelling the order before it was even being made. Discriminatory behaviour, bad sizing portions and long wait times is what I experienced here. Do not spend $10.80 on 'gelato' here go .buy yourselves two 2 litre tubs of ice cream because this is what they pass for gelato except they serve a 2 scrapes of it. Italian naming for a shitty generic cafe with no real ittalian influences.

I went to this place on Sunday and ordered food and drinks worth $63. Due to circumstances I cancelled the food order but kept the drink order. Unfortunately I already made the payment in full. The lady at the counter did not refund our balance saying she doesn’t know how to operate eftpos machine and to give cash refund she wanted additional money. She went inside the kitchen and did not come out and got us waiting almost one hour. After one hour she now says that her cash till is also not working asked us to contact the owner on Monday. I called and email the owner with no response. Their phone number on website is incorrect. I got robbed by this people. I would never recommend them to anyone.

Decided to try this place out but left feeling unsatisfied. Asked for a large coffee with sugar but halfway through making it they informed me that they ran out of cows milk (as a barista myself, that was weird to hear), I asked if she had trim milk but she ended up putting soy milk in my coffee without sugars. Coffee was also under extracted and tasted horrible.

The salmon eggs bene and iced coffee were amazing ! However, we were quite put off by the way the manager treated the staff. My partner asked for some water and the manager yelled “later!” Definetly wouldn’t come back here.

Terrible food, terrible portion size. Ordered pancakes and bacon for $16.50 got 3 tiny cold pikelets (not pancakes). The most ripped off i have been in a long time. I created an account just to let people know.
