We had a Window Table with fireplace view, Great Ambiance in the Vinyard Restaurant, Professional Service (Compliments to Helen) and the food was amazing. The Signature Souffle combined with the Chardonnay Reserva 22 was a hit! Also possible to taste the different wines and puchase them right at the cellar door.
Lunch is Popular here, which is for a good reason. I would recommend reservation via the Website.

This iconic restaurant is always busy and for good reason. The food is fabulous and the wine selection is great.
The restaurant will close on the 16 th of December 2023 so don’t miss your opportunity to visit if you are in town before then. Very highly recommended

We decided to dine here before visiting other wineries because of the good reviews on Google. We tried the bread, seafood chowder and sashimi. All were good 👍🏻
The dippings for the bread were something we’ve not tried before. The seafood chowder was just the right consistency. I found the salmon sashimi all right (too much seasoning for my taste but my husband liked it). The staff were friendly and attentive.
They no longer do wine tastings at the cellar door, so we did that during our lunch (they brought the wines to the table). Bought a few bottles.

We had a lovely lunch at Wairu River Wines Restaurant. We e-biked it there easily. Gorgeous restaurant with great service from the staff. The food was delicious and showcased local produce. Excellent wines (as expected).

I don't often mention staff in my reviews but Delyth is one heck of a service champion. Knowledge of wine is excellent, attitude 10/10 all this rounded of with a wonderful Vinyard backdrop and fine New Zealand wine. Wairau wine is a must visit

So good we ate here twice in two days.
Everything we ate was very tasty - with special mention going to the beef rib which was sublime. Melt in the mouth with fantastic accompaniments.
I did think the duck could have been rendered down a bit more as there was some fatty parts that hadn’t melted. Also the duck leg was quite small!
Still overall the place was fantastic - food, venue, location and service. Highly recommend you won’t be disappointed!

We dined here for lunch whilst on a bike tour of the local vineyards. We had the prawn salad and beer battered chips to share and the food was unreal. The wine was delicious and the staff were very knowledgeable. We bought a bottle of their wine which had a 20% discount when you dined with them so very reasonably priced. Wonderful place and would highly recommend.

An excellent lunch in a lovely setting. Prawns were recommended and did not disappoint! Chicken burger was above and beyond your average chicken burger.

My favourite winery from all I have visited in the Marlborough region. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff in both the bottle shop and restaurant. The smoked salmon salad was the best meal I have had during my New Zealand holiday.

I've been visiting Wairau Rivers cellar door/restaurant since the mid 90s and I have never had a bad experience there! Beautiful setting, great wine, friendly staff, and a menu that offers plenty of choice, without being pretentious, and food of very high quality.

So we had my mother in-laws surprise 60th birthday at Waiau River Wines last weekend. The venue was awesome and the outdoor seating was great as it was a nice day. The food was also really good and everyone enjoyed it(the seafood chowder and chicken noodle salad were a hit). Lastly and most importantly, the staff were great and made for an awesome outing for me and my family. Would recommend Wairau River Wines to everyone
