Review Grovetown Pub - Blenheim

Michael Errey
A surprising find in the middle of nowhere that happened to have a good chef giving a Japanese influence to some of the food. The service was odd after waiting to be greeted for a good 5 minutes while the staff wiped glasses and looked right through us but the food was excellent. If the greeting and service was better it would have been a 5 star experience. Having said that we would go back to try more of the menu.

What a great experience for the 8 of us that booked a dinner. Let me tell you that if you are in the area and want a really good value for money meal, then you are in the right place. Drinks prices are about average for the area but the food is another story entirely. Prices are good for the quality and amount of food presented. We visit the area three or four times a year and this will most certainly be a favourite spot for a meal in future visits.

Great food, not your typical pub food. Great selection of beers on tap too.

Fantastic Meal. Huge servings and cooked to perfection. Only complaint would be the lack of notice about the step down to dining room. Needs hi-vis paint to warn people. Not a big drop, but dramatic when not expecting it

Absolutely amazing place! The food is an incredible Japanese style of food where kiwi eat have not been forgotten. The beer range was great with everything from good low alcohol beers to nice ciders and even more amazing craft beers from all across the country. I'd highly recommend this place for everyone. Just make sure you have a sober driver, as its a we bit away from town.

Ok seriously, this looks like an average out of town pub that most wouldn't even bother to look at as they sped past on their way to the Picton ferry. How wrong that is. This is a very very good pub with an excellent selection of craft beers and then there's the food. Tell me, what NZ pub features quality Japanese food on their blackboard menu and then, and then, gets it right. Well this one does. You'd be a fool for speeding past it ever again. Nuf said. But then there's the open fire, the outdoor area also with a fire...it goes on...
