Review Sagai Japanese Restaurant - Blenheim

A very nice Japanese restaurant in Blenheim. Thank you for being open up until 9pm on the 4th of January and taking the order at 8.20.. and not hurrying us up. The chicken was fresh and crispy, good selection of dishes!

I love the sushi here. They are the best in town. And I have tried all around. They also do great chicken kebab and streamed dumbling for lunch. Goes great with their miso soup. Had Teppanyaki here twice and both were great experience. Super friendly staff. Love coming here for lunch or dinner.

It's a must visit place for foodies in Blenheim. Their customer service is excellent. Really friendly front office and service staff. A beautiful interior too. Lots of paintings and good ambience. Overall positive vibes. Don't know how I could have been in Blenheim this long and yet missed it out. We'd ordered a seafood salad, fresh salmon dish and a bento box containing crispy Korean chicken fry, salad, sushi, rice and miso. I've never liked sushi before, but this, it was just amazing. All the foods were prepared to the highest standards within a short time. The prices are also reasonable. Very satisfied late night customers!

A family restaurant that has many tasty dishes of Japanese and Korean cuisine. The service is very good. I liked the place. Surely I will return more often.

Friendly staff, excellent food, best service 5 star .......

There are a range of menu such as Korean, Japanese or Thai. It may take a long time than you expect. However the foods would be tasty.

AMAZING OKONOMIYAKI - I have only tried a takeaway from this place but I was very impressed. This is up with the very best okonomiyaki I have been able to find in New Zealand. Very friendly staff and lovely clean restaurant. I am looking forward to returning to try more Japanese food here. This is WAY WAY better than Gohan. LOVE IT!

We give you 4 stars because food was delicious. Ordered 2 deluxe Bento boxes and everything was well cooked but felt could of been hotter. Ordered for 6.45 pm and I got there 15 minutes earlier and was ready for pick up. Hence why it was cold. Service great

Great location of the shop with car park avaible on the kerb side. Few choice of food at reasonable prices.

Service was great, plenty of options including takeaway. Prices are little high for what you get and taste wasn’t the greatest but wasn’t bad either. Definitely don’t regret eating there though. Good atmosphere.

Food is nice, service is quick. Great for sharing plates. Portion sizes were good too. Online ordering is really easy and quick, 15 minutes before you can pick up makes it faster than McDonald's

Great food that was worth the wait

Great food and excellent service. Everything we ate was delicious and authentic. Very clean facilities and lovely staff. We took our children with us and they were well catered for.<br/>We loved the experience and would highly recommend it.

I understand how this place got a bad rating. Our entrees came out at odd times. My miso soup (which I understand is almost instant) was served almost 15 min before my partners entree. His main came almost instantly after his entree while I waited a further 15 min for my main. (They were both chicken dishes and should have come out together) The only saving grace was the amazing, very stressed out waitress who was trying everything to keep the entire restaurant calm and keep the food coming, while also serving a rather large party. The food was good as well, just the serving times pulled the rating down. I would try this place again, but if the waitress was the only good part, next time might be the last. (I feel bad we didn't get her name to commend her on her efforts.)

Really bad takeaway. Inedible sushi and dumplings and the teriyaki chicken and vegetables should probably be listed on the menu as soup. Complete waste of $40. Had to throw away almost the entire meal. Yes it really was that bad.

Have heard this is under new management. Was an absolute terrible meal. Very small servings....no atmosphere...and would never return again or recommend to anybody else. Very disappointed! There was no one else in the restaurant at the time which surprised me (now I know why) staff no over friendly-and awkward that the young waitress stood at the till all night just watching us, which made it very hard to have a decent conversation, without feeling uncomfortable!

This restaurant offers so much more than just great sushi. The menu offers a good variety of dishes representing authentic Japanese cuisine. The food itself is absolutely brilliant (we recommend an evening centred around the Teppanyaki grill). The staff are attentive, polite and gracious. To top it all off, for a very reasonable corkage fee, BYO wine is an option.<br/><br/>If we had to choose something on which management could improve, it would be to suggest Japanese music to complete the experience.

Best sushi I have ever had, I called them to thank them as I enjoyed it. Unfortunately they could not understand me but overall highly recommended:)soooo good I just want to go and buy some more but I know definitely I will go again
