Review Galley Takeaways - Bluff

Chloe Nauschutz
Incredible experience - lovely lovely owner, chatted to me and I felt really looked after. THE BEST battered BUTTER FISH I’ve had in my entire life, best fries, INCREDIBLE cheese roll ( best in South Island for sure!!), amazing potato fritters and we also had delicious salted caramel muffins and fudge slices! I will be driving all the way back to bluff purely for that fish again! 10/10 experience and I would recommended this place to anyone!

Really good fish and chips and the batter was so crispy and delicious. The only downside was a bit pricey and small portions. Chips didn’t have salt so tasted a bit bland.

This is the southwest fish and chips takeaways in NZ and definitely the best one! Diane is super friendly, she helps us a lot on our travel, and the food here is so tasty! I highly recommend people to come and enjoy a good meal in the Galley Takeaways.

I would defiantly recommend stopping by here. This was the first time tasting a cheese roll and a white bait fritter and it didn't disappoint. The chips were crunchy and salted to perfection. The owner was a delight to talk to as well since it wasn't busy at the time. Make sure you grab a photo with the worlds most southern takeaway sign! Will be back for Oyster season!

Felt very lucky that Galley Takeaways was open when we were in Bluff. It’s next to the hotel we were staying at. Believe me, it’s worth getting your food here than the ‘overpriced’ restaurant elsewhere in town. Affordable and cooked to perfection. Nice & cheerful staff, great service and delicious fish and chips. I also had salt and pepper squid. The milkshakes are good too! We ate at the table outside and chatted with friendly locals who are also waiting for their order. Highly recommended. 👍

Stopped here for food on our way out of Bluff and got a treat. Generous portion of piping hot fries, crispy battered fish and amazing cheese roll. We also tried the whitebait sandwich and that was delicious, my favorite of the lot. Definitely stop by for a bite if you’re in the area.

THE WORLD'S MOST SOUTHERN TAKEAWAYS! Get in there and get the fresh bluff fish and plenty of other surprises! New management and fresh look. As south as you can get with Southern kiwi hospitality! Walk to Bluff Hill before or after 😉

A great spot to stop for fish and chips! The lemon dill batter was perfectly flavored and lightly crispy. The owner is a very sweet and friendly lady. Do not miss this spot! (I've come all the way from Colorado!)

Fantastic fish and chips in this charming eatery. I’ve now eaten fish and chips from the arctic circle (Lofoten) down to the southern tip of New Zealand, spanning most of the world in between. Fish was very fresh and the batter crispy/light. The chips were excellent too, nice crunch. You won’t regret trying this place!

Came to Bluff to do two things. Go see the sign at the bottom of the mainland and have some good fish and chips. Galley did not disappoint, beautiful fresh fish and tasty chips. Great service too, we waited in the car and the lady brought our meal out to us. 👍

The best fish and chips in Invercargill and Bluff! I've been here several times, definitely worth the drive from Invercargill. Fish is very fresh and the owner is very friendly. Will be back soon.

Most delicious fish n chips ever!! In fact the whole of Southland. Have some orange roughy and a whitebait fritter.

Great fish and chips, hoki, as the blue Cod was still swimming at sea. Beautiful pieces of fish and a perfect way to finish a busy week. Being a soft North islander I found the open doors a little fresh but the locals didn't seem to mind. Cheery service from the staff. Great meal.

We were lucky to find this hidden gem! Fish and chips are very perfectly cooked, tasty crispy chips, juicy blue cod and not even oily batter at all. We ordered a combo and some sides for takeaways, very value for money. Highly recommend!

Great fish and chips at Bluff. We had the cod bits in lemon pepper and dill batter- yum. My son had a black gold paua ball and couldn't stop raving. The service was great and the lady serving very friendly and helpful. The mural under the counter brightened up the shop and worthy of a photograph!

Nice Paua Burger in black bun, tasty whitebait sandwich and lemon&pepper blue cod. All was that good, that the seagulls almost ate us :)
