Review Flavours Of India - Browns Bay

I went with 2 other people for the weekend brunch which is very reasonably priced and offers a variety of South Indian dishes. They were all really tasty and the service was friendly. Would highly recommend.

Good experience overall. The food tasted good. We ordered the paneer chilli and balti chicken. The balti chicken curry was really packed with flavours. The chicken felt like it was just boiled and put in there but the curry overall made up for it.

I love Flavours! It's my favorite Indian Restaurant. I finally bought my American boyfriend here after talking about it for years; it did not disappoint. The curry, rice and naan are each a generous portion (you can takeaway if you don't finish it) and it's always piping hot. Plenty of flavours to choose from in a variety in meat or vegetarian options. Come in a group so you can try a bunch of options!

Lovely curry and big sized portions. Host and her staff very friendly and quick service. I had a Chicken Shajahani with a cheese and garlic naan. Great flavours and as I said plenty of it.

Great South Indian experience with the breakfast buffet. We thoroughly enjoyed the food. Service was excellent and we felt very welcomed.

Clean restaurant with pleasant staff and well decored inside. The butter chickens were really good and at $14.50 a piece, we felt like we were getting value for money. I appreciated that despite there being two meals in the same order, the rice containers were kept separate. Some Indian restaurants don’t do this and it’s annoying when we’re not all eating at the same time. Overall, I would return here.

It was ok, they told us we couldn't eat upstairs & that they would make room for us to eat downstairs instead, their reasons were it was alot to bring food up & down & the risk of dropping food was quite high, it was busy & they had to ask a man who was waiting for takeaway to wait outside for his meal. They set 2 of us at a 6 seated table, & the meals took a while to come out i ordered mango chicken medium, & my friend ordered lamb korma mild, we both ordered a garlic cheese naan each, i asked for poppadoms though they never came, the staff were all quite young, however very friendly & polite. The food was average, service lovely, very busy & for all that it was just ova $50 so not bad

If you would like to try authentic Indian food then this is the place where you will find it. This is my go to restaurant for last several years and the quality of food has not changed. I have used their catering service as well - food reminded me and my guests our home town in India. Thank you Team Flavours of India.

I highly recommend one of their fabulous Biryanis! It was soooo tasty and full of flavour. Staff were also friendly and accommodating by letting us sit in when they were doing takeaway only due to staff shortage

A great dining experience at Flavours. Lovely couple who own and run it. Very unpretentious, excellent food. My Prawn Malabari was one of the best I have ever had. Very friendly service.

Chicken Korma, hot of course. We love going to this place and either sit-in, or takeaway. Last night the waitress had a bad BO problem though otherwise it would be 5 star

Placed order for takeaway and was told it was 30 minutes wait but I was waiting for over an hour. Ridiculously slow service.

Best Indian on the shore, amazing curries, love the vegetarian options. Great friendly staff.
Food?
Came here for dinner after being recommended by a friend. Food was absolutely amazing. You can taste the quality of ingredients used and the flavours are on point. Will definitely be back.

Our new go to Indian! It’s a very small restaurant but we will get our takeaway from here. Much more flavour than other Indian restaurants in the area and good prices. The staff are friendly and there is a good range of curries on the menu. Definitely recommend eating here!

Have never been disappointed. Curries and naan always yummy and they are always friendly. Like what Arnold Schwarzenegger would say, I’ll be back!

I hadn't been for a few months, and when I went in I found a more extensive menu than before, however the prices had risen quite a bit. The starters came out in a timely fashion and were absolutely delicious. But then came the 45 minute wait for our mains. One main came ... then a few minutes later the next main came ... the after another 5 minutes the rice appeared. The food was extremely tasty - one of the best Indian meals I have had - but the service was appalling. There are many other choices in the area.

Having read great reviews and been recommended this restaurant we ordered a take away (6 curries, one nan bread) and were told it would take 25 minutes. This is unusual as most curry take aways take 15 minutes. We waited. After 25 minutes we were told it would be another 20 minutes. We waited. We were told the restaurant was busy. It was early evening and there were two tables of four that were occupied, hardly busy. After an hour we asked if we could have our $78 dollars refunded but were told no, we could not as our order was almost ready. We waited another ten minutes and were given a $10 refund and five minutes after that the curry order. It was about 1 hour 20 minutes that we waited! The excuse was that something had been spilt on all the orders, but surely after the first 25 minutes it would be obvious that the wait was going to be long? Crazy that we waited that long but were constantly told it was almost ready. Very disappointed.

We were told that the Butter Chicken was good .. but it wasn't just good, it was fantastic! Had a lovely meal. The service was fantastic too. A relaxing family meal out. Recommend it.

A first time visit at this restaurant with a group of friends on an evening out. Actually, all the the dishes we tried left a good impression on me. We ordered several different things and each thing I tried was absolutely wonderful.

Food was absolutely terrible , will never order from here again , partner and I were so sick after our meals. 🤢 asked for a mild and that was definitely not a mild !

A little hidden gem nestled among Browns Bay shops with delectable Indian food that doesn’t disappoint.

Service: 8/10
When we first entered, the waitress just pointed at a table and told us to take a seat. They didn’t bring us menus until we finally went up to the counter to ask for some.
The waitress was very friendly and helped us through the specials. She even offered us complementary yogurt if we thought the curry was too hot.

Food: 9/10
We ordered the lamb korma, prawn pepper fry and roti.
There were huge chunks of meat in the korma. The slightly fatty lamb was so succulent and tender. The basmati rice was fragrant and fluffy.
The prawn pepper fry was slightly spicy with delicious pieces of cooked tomatoes. The prawns were cooked nicely and were bursting with flavour.
The roti was airy and crunchy, and tasted great with the curry. It was slightly burnt and quite oily though.

Ambiance: 7/10
There are majestic chandeliers with yellow light creating a homely feel.
There was jazz music playing which is calming but doesn’t create an authentic Indian mood.
Even though the restaurant is quite small, the tables are big and spaced out so you have personal space.
The environment is clean and tidy with lovely artwork hanging on the walls.

This is a great restaurant for cheap authentic Indian food. The prices are low and the portions are huge, and very filling. This restaurant is super underrated and needs more attention from locals.

Best Indian food on the Shore. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The entree sampler is a meal in itself. Curries were rich and spicy. Will definitely be back.

Favourite Indian place in browns bay!! Very authentic! The chicken shjarahani is my favourite but all the curries are good! Their mid week special is great and corkage is only $2.50 come here once a fortnight at least!

This is our Favourite Indian restaurant, the curries are really good. Well spiced and really flavourful. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit. Can highly recommend the Malai methi mutter, my favourite at the moment!

We've been coming to Flavours for years mainly for takeaways but in the last month or so their quality has decreased substantially. Not sure what has happened but, Flavours, if your reading this please, please, please go back to your original quality which was always 10/10.

Went to flavors of India last week for dinner. Food was yummy, unlike other restaurants who use same curry base for every single curry on the menu, flavors uses different for each curry. Food tastes exactly like it is in India. Butter chicken was yum. Had a chat with Chef Rao. He is a nice guy to talk to.
Food : 5/5
Price : 5/5
Ambience : 5/5

I love food ...so my hunt for tasty food never ends, on the other hand Flavours has helped me narrow my search for tasty, delicious authentic Indian food.
All credit goes to the Chef who tirelessly adds new items to the menu and takes feedback from regular visitors.
I have dined numerous times at this restaurant and never had to return disappointed. :) :)

If you are looking for a decent Indian place on the shore, then this is it. Love their curries and their Briyani. Definitely recommended :)

We've eaten here several times in the past and thought that it was good value for money.

Decided to have some curry last night - wasn't disappointed at all with the flavours and texture. Their curries are good and the servings are big enough to share. Don't forget to order some naan bread to mop up that delicious gravy!!!

They do $12 mains except the chef specials on mon-wed. On top of that they do $10 curry of the day!!!

I have dined here a number of times, and although the ambiance may not be 5 stars, this should hardly be expected of a takeaway. The service has always been pleasant, and the people kind. However, the food is where this Indian restaurants stands out. This is by far the best Indian food I have found at any Indian restaurant in the Auckland area, and I have tried a great many places. Perhaps it isn't as good as the food one can find in India, or even England. Nonetheless, the food at this establishment ought to be compared to what is on offer here in Auckland, not to the food one can get in some other country. I will continue to frequent this establishment, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wishes to eat some truly delicious Indian food. Takeaway may be preferable to those who expect a wonderful ambiance.

I had my first visit here last night. I have eaten wonderful curries in India and England and I am still looking for a good Indian curry here in Auckland. I was disappointed by the plain decor of the small restaurant and was hoping that the food would make up for it. However while the food was abundant and inexpensive, it all tasted the same. We were not asked how hot we liked our curry when the order was taken.
There were 6 of us, and the table was too small to share our meals among us.
Service was adequate. The lady serving may have been tired/unhappy/troubled and there was no smiles.
I will not be going out of my way to return.

Came in a big group, entrees were lovely we had a set menu. our seating area was small with inadequate space however. The biggest disappointment was the spiciness of the rogan josh it was too hot for any of us to handle. Well priced though

This is our fave restaurant in Auckland.
We go here about twice a month.
On Mon - Wed they have great eat-in specials.
I always order a potato and cottage cheese curry dish that was recommended by one of the staff.
My Daughter always gets the butter chicken,it is as spicy as she likes it,perfect size, bigger than average with good chunks of chicken.
They have no problems at all bringing extra rice and naan, service is friendly and fast.
The water is nice and cold.
It always seems busy with people getting takeaways.
Highly recommended.

Great service , great food, awesome place thank you for a wonderful night !

Great Indian food. We love curry and eat it often. On the Shore there is little to beat this place for value and quality. The food is always good.

As for service -- they could teach many of the other restaurants on what real service is.

Highly recommend the place - we are heading back tonight for probably the 20th time!

We don't go as much as we used to, but only because we don't live on the North Shore anymore. But Flavours is still the best Indian Restaurant we have been too, service is brilliant, food delivered to the table is hot and spicey, smells awesome. Highly recommend if your looking for THE best curry's.
See you tomorrow night, we are making the pilgramage up there :-)

I have been to this restaurant quiet few times. Very friendly staff along with the best indian chefs on the shore or may be in auckland i should say. Best Indian food. Very good price and always had fresh and quality maintained food everytime. I like the most. Always A+++
Mike Skelton
I like my Indian food to be tasty and fragrant and I found their food to be both. Recommended for takeaway and reasonably priced too. We haven't eaten in so I can't comment on the restaurant.

This is an outstanding Indian Restaurant. The food available is varied and very close to perfect. The staff are friendly and helpful and always greet with a smile. I've not had every dish available but am working through it. They cater to Kiwi style Indian meals should you wish but more importantly they produce what I consider real Indian dishes as standard. This restaurant is the standard that others on the Shore should aim at. For quality and value this is the place to go.

Amazing sidewalk dining experience!
We didn't know what we wanted, but the man behind the counter was very helpful in making recommendations.
The food came in good portions, very hot and flavorful.
Would not however suggest having a milk shake, they're pretty boring and artificially flavoured.
Philip Walter
It's a bit fawty towers in terms of service, but its stunningly impressive food that arrives. It's not expensive, and you know it's freshly made. Very friendly, very welcoming.

The dated style of furniture make it all the more appealing.
