Review Wild Oats - Carterton

I make sure I Visit here every time I am visiting from Australia, every year or so. Good food, Awesome Coffee, great staff. Gets busy for lunch but worth the wait. Not sure about the negative reviews, I have been a repeat customer for 8 years I stay in the area for a week or 2 and visit every day while I am here and the experience has always been great. Did I mention the Awesome Coffee.

After a random Google search for food in carterton I chose these guys to fill the hunger gap. The ham cheese and tomato croissant was tasty and fresh, coffee was great and the ginger and pistachio slice had an awesome crunchy base.. it took me right back to the crunchy ginger slices of the 1980s. Outstanding

Enjoyed a Big Brekky meal, while the wife had a generous Pancake Stack meal with bananas & bacon. A nice collection of organic food & drinks adorn the cabinets. Friendly staff, served with a smile. Lovely unique establishment with a country feel.

Nov 2023 The food on offer here is the best on offer in this area. Having been here before, we like the food and service along with the atmosphere. This is certainly a popular cafe / bakery. Would recommend this cafe to anyone who lives or passes through Carterton.

Friendly staff were very welcoming to our large group of teenage trampers. Great food selection and lovely coffee.

Had never been here before even though my whānau rave about it all the time and I think my mum has had a small gathering here too but I love it. The kai was delicious and fresh. The coffee was very much welcomed after the crazy wet weather we had been experiencing. Thank you team, I'll be back for sure 😊

Great variety both in the cabinet and made to order. Had the garlic mushrooms which was super delicious. My daughter tried the New York croquettes and also the pancakes. She said the pancakes were delicious but a bit on the dry side.

Nice atmosphere and friendly staffs. Food is great but not the best ! Do have vegetarian and gluten free options ! Big seating space but tables are hardly cleaned up.

Creamy Garlic Mushroom was awesome. Really nice location. Staff was not much friendly but who cares when you get an awesome breakfast.

Large friendly cafe with big selection of great food and good coffee. Easy parking with fire in the cold weather.

Beautiful coffee, beautiful food, beautiful staff. We will definitely be back. The fire going on a frosty morning just tops it off.

Always a good selection of food on offer, options for sitting inside or outside too.

Food was lovely, coffee was average but the service really unfriendly. No smile, no hello, no nothing. Is the second time this has happened. Wont be back.

Went here on Sunday, very busy and full!
I ordered a Chai Latte and Eggs Montreal. The wait was quite long, coffee took about 12-15 minutes (though that was to be expected seeing as they were packed). The meal came out and the eggs were on a halved bread roll with a side of salad which was quite unusual.. The eggs were over done but overall the taste was very nice, though in my opinion the salad didn't go the best with it and could've done without it?
I would return here, there is a good cabinet and drink selection and the staff were friendly :)

Eggs bene with bacon - a cafe staple hard to get wrong- unless the eggs are rock hard the hollandaise is from a vat and there is a side salad at 7.30 in the morning - coffee ok and staff friendly just need to work on their food😊

Had lunch with a friend who raved about the carterton burger however we decided to go with the Greek salad and ham frittata . Partner raved about how tasty his fritatta was. My Greek salad was chopped too finely for my taste and I wasn't overly fussed on the sundried tomato dressings. Servings were generous however.

Popped in here for some lunch and I LOVE burgers. Saw they had "The Carterton Burger" on the menu so thought I'd give it a go.
Not expecting much from this cafe but WHOAH!
What came out was one of the bigger burgers I've had!
It was delicious. Place was cool and staff were great.

On a recent roadtrip we stopped here for a quick coffee and a bite to eat. Im so happy i picked the savoury muffin from the cabinet! Cutting into the muffin and finding a dollop of cream cheese in the centre was such a delight that we stopped there again on the way back.

Brilliant little cafe - not an extensive menu but great cabinet food to make up for it. I had the salmon frittata and it was delicious! The spinach Benedict was also very good, although the eggs a little too runny. Highly recommend the vege muffin - it tastes incredible and has a cheesy centre. Also I couldn't fault the friendly service

I've been here many times to just buy cake and the last time I had a meal here was prior to Zomato being available, so I thought it time for a review. The first time I went here more than 6 years ago, the cakes were amazing. Now the variety is not the same and they can be a bit under-whelming (especially the black forest gateaux which is filled with too much solid mock cream). Today I had the salmon eggs benny & tea; hubby had the big breakfast - he hates mushrooms and tomatoes so I inherited those. The food is obviously from fresh Wairarapa produce (as pictured). Enjoyable but not outstanding. The lovely lady behind the counter offered me a large teapot and a single price so it was great not having to ask for extra hot water. It is still probably the best cafe in Carterton.

Other review must have been a very bad day! Local Cafe for me and never been disappointed. Fresh food. Awesome cook! Always good for a bacon and egg breakfast. Food is great and a big selection. Can't fault. Try the vegetarian muffins, not a vegetarian but they are beautiful heated up!

We walked into this cafe and had to choose what to eat according to what the blow flies inside the food display counter were not on.
We were charged $33 for 2 coffees one hot chocolate, 2 paninis and one piece of citrus slice.
This is a bit higher than I thought it should be, if we had been given the service to go with the price I wouldn't have minded.
I have been to this cafe before and found it to be great, so hopefully this was just an off day.
But the flies did disturb me........
