Review Kainga Eatery - Carterton

Definitely our new favorite breakie spot, great atmosphere, clean & delicious! Service was a little slow but the Kai & coffee was well worth the wait! 😋

A lovely addition to Carterton. Bright open space, with a fair few tables outside and under cover, with a decent selection of cabinet and menu options for breakfast, brunch, and lunch. Good for a quick pop in brunch, or a coffee and bite to go. Small selection of toys in the corner for younger kids, as well as a colouring in menu for the arty ones. Staff are friendly and accommodating, and the food we had was excellent. Looking around I could have picked what any of the other patrons we’re having and been just as happy. Kids really enjoyed their Gluten free option from the kids menu.

Absolutely loved our Kai. Polenta chip with dukkah on point. Kainga breakfast was beautiful and the beans were bangin! Eggs bene was delish however eggs needed to be runny. We will definitely be back as many more dishes to try. Nice and clean and the staff were great 👍

The presentation and quality of food and coffee is superb. We live in a nearby town and Kainga has very quickly become our "local." It is priced very reasonably, especially given the quality of the food and service. The toilets are perfect which adds to the whole experience.

Shelley [the owner] has built an impressive eaterie and experience. The coffee is exceptional... baristas are consistently on point. Food is amazing being one of the few places serving local seafood. The place is warm and inviting and Carterton has a real asset. It is always busy, friendly faces and even room for dogs [outside seating]. Check it out...

We stopped off a couple times over the weekend. The first was opportunistic coffee, the second was digging into the breakfast menu. Service was incredible with an extra serving of accommodation. We were there ages and well attended the whole time. The menu looked interesting, as it changed up the standard breakfast fare without throwing out the breakfast concept. I think it lived up to expectations as well, although I went with a porridge instead of the bigger breakfasts.

Ordered the open omelette with salmon add on to the most exquisite dish I’ve had in ever! The chefs and food preparation phenomenal. Will be back and dreaming of this until then! Just climbed out of the mountains and was starving and that was the best thing I could’ve eaten! Thank you.
