Stopped for lunch on the way to Christchurch. Looks like a great menu, but had cabinet food, absolutely hit the spot. Spotless amenities. Will return đź‘Ťđź‘Ť

Quaint little place we come across during our drive.. small parking space out front... I heard the coffee's great N a new hotstone grill night coming up. Service staff is friendly! Food's yummy to the tummy. #Recommend

The most tasty food have been offered here even though this cafe is just in a small town. We had lunch on the way from Christchurch to Kaikōura. Very welcoming atmosphere, food quality & great service, everything was unexpectedly good. I’d love to recommend here to my friends.

I didn't think anyone could make a bacon and egg butty better than mine! Actual back bacon, (a rarity in NZ) soft buns and egg. Perfection! Lovely coffee too.

What a fabulous find!!! Gorgeous cafe: great choice of indoor and outdoor seating. Food was delicious, coffee and hot chocolate great. The sausage roll was incredibly flavoured. The staff were super friendly. Enjoyed chatting with a few locals outside in the seating area in the courtyard. Highly recommend.

Beautiful cafe, food was decent not outstanding but the environment and the friendly staff makes up for it. Coffee was alright. We had eggs Benedict, creamy prawns with rice, croissant, 2 flat whites and 1 long black, total damage was about $70 NZD. Quite pricey but good for a stop over while otw to Christchurch from Kaikoura

If you are on the road and you are a bit hungry this is a good place for a break. At the beginning we stopped to have a coffe break but seeing the dishes we decided to eat. Bagel with salmon, panini and vegetables pie - shared for two vas perfect. And the spiced chai really good. Do not hesitate…

Absolutely stunning food! Service was excellent and we even had the chef come out himself to ensure we were happy with our meals. Big ups to Essy for the excellent & thoughtful service.

Wow, we didn't expect perfection in the stop off for lunch on our trip north. The fire was on, so it was as warm and welcoming as the service. My cauliflower soup was top notch and my partners sausage roll proclaimed one of the best he had tasted. Happy travellers, thanks Number 8 ;)

Great outdoor seating area, nice blend of modern and rustic vibe that really fits the hilly, rural backdrop. Great choice of food for breakfast or lunch, great coffee and alcohol available. Always stop here when i pass through on the bike

Husband had Big Breakfast - my oh my! Best Big Breakfast from any Cafe we've been to to date. I had mushrooms on toast - this didn't disappoint either. Excellent coffee to boot. Definitely a revisit on the way back up the line.

Great place to stopover on a trip. It’s not the first time we’ve stopped and the food is consistently good. Clean and comfy. Faultless for us North Islanders.

After an early morning start in Christchurch we were craving for coffee and hungry. Luckily Number Eight Cafe in Cheviot was open and upon entering we felt at home. The staff was friendly, the place was clean and our order was taken immediately. As we were in hurry we had to take our food with us, but wish we could sit and enjoy at the cafe. The coffee and savoury scones just hit the spot. Will definitely visit this cafe when we visit Cheviot again.

Five stars. Delicious menu, great coffee and, friendly staff met the chef, and it's always lovely to see someone so passionate about their food and cooking. The special which was bacon wrapped chicken with mash and salad was perfect an amazing portion, we also got the waffles with fried chicken as extra it was juicy and the berry coulie was incredible I highly recommend a stop here on your journey south.
