Review Indian Pearl Restaurant - Christchurch

Excellent friendly service. The Pearl Special Lamb was very flavoursome, one of the best Indian dishes I've had. Highly recommend.

Food was incredible- best Indian food we've had in such a long time. Next time we visit Christchurch you will be our first Port of call. Friendly people Thank you

Behind the unpretentious facade is a real treasure. The interior is really lovely, the staff friendly and helpful and the food was the best Indian we've had to date! I highly recommend Indian Pearl as a must try. We will most definitely be back.

My daughter and I just walked in and they had a table we could use. The atmosphere and decor is wonderful, the service excellent and the food was great and also a reasonable price.

This Indian restaurant, the dining environment is very clean and comfortable, the staff are very friendly, the service is very good, and we are all satisfied with the food. If there are more people, you need to make an appointment first, otherwise it is not peak time, there should be places

The food here is excellent. I highly recommend trying the Palak Paneer and the Paneer Butter Masala!

Great place with great food. The service is very good and some with sincerity, not the fake nice you get some places. Highly recommended!

Amazing food! Great service! Best Indian I’ve had in Christchurch.

Best Indian around. Great naan bread! And always great service by the young lads. Our go-to Indian for lunch curries. Don’t let the outside of the building put you off 😊

Yummy food and good service! Went for a wee byo. Will note that each drink you open there is a $7? Charge but worth it. Cheap bottle of wine for $14 and the fee is much less expensive than two glasses of wine so good for a cheap fun night.

This was a great little Indian restaurant. The food and service were excellent. They offered dine in and take aways. The staff were friendly and the restaurant was very tidy with water on the table while you waited for your meal. In my opinion, this is Christchurchs best Indian restaurant.

Curries and naan were very good and I'd order again, but they got the meats the wrong way round on our curry order. It was a take away so we couldn't be bothered to ring up to get it sorted. A little more attention to the order next time please...

The best onion bhajis we’ve had. Usually other places struggle, raw on the inside, burnt on the outside, too small or dripping with grease, but this place got it just perfect. The naan was the softest texture we’ve ever had. Light and fresh. This was our first time ordering and we look forward to trying again. Thank you

Once again - perfect! We love coming to Indian Pearl, THE best samosas and beautiful chicken tikka. Thanks you guys. Looking forward to the day (soon) when we can't book a table because you're full.

My favourite indian takeaway in Christchurch! Always spiced to my liking and super delicious, would recommend to anybody looking for a great tasting, well priced Indian meal

A nice and compact place for Indian food. The service is attentive and the quality of food is good. The ambience needs improvement. Will go again.

Yay...we've found our new fave Indian in Christchurch. We used to go to Curry Time on Main North Road but the quality plummeted for some reason. Tandori Palace was our 'go to' but it was pretty ordinary food. We tried Indian Pearl due to Treat Me Vouchers purchased and we've been pleasantly surprised. Very tasty, high quality Indian food. An extensive menu on offer and everything we've tried has been excellent quality.

Delicious food and friendly service. Tonight was my first time dining in at Indian Pearl and I was very pleased with the attentiveness of the staff. The naan bread is a generous size for price and came to us piping hot and fresh, unlike some other places where they clearly have been left sitting.

The size of the restaurant is a bit small and the bathroom facilities leave a lot to be desired, although the cleanliness seems well-maintained.

The location's great being so close to Northlands mall. Will definitely be returning next time I'm around Papanui.

Tonight was my second visit to Indian Pearl and both times have been great. Our waiter was friendly, I appreciated that he poured us water when he brought the jug over. Really great value for money, too. Similar pricing to places like Tandoori Palace but much nicer food. Will be back again!

I have had the food here many times over the past 18 months, both for the lunch special and for home delivery as our dinner. They are on their way around right now with another order. I have had Indians from many countries and this one is up there with a Brick Lane curry. Now just waiting for a restaurant in St Albans.....

Love the food from the Indian Pearl. They have a really good range on their menu and it is always well cooked and great-tasting. They control the level of curry heat and spice well and will meet any taste from light to hot.

The service is great and they always make you feel very welcome. The atmosphere in the restaurant is relaxed and decorated in theme.

Thoroughly recommended, and very good value for money.

I used to have another place in Christchurch as my favourite, Indian Restaurant, Indian Pearl now tops it!

Loved the authenticity. The service was great, customer satisfaction is a priority to them. The food was devine and I also loved the Mango Lassi.

I have spread the word and we will return again.

Keep up the good work....well done Indian Pearl :-)

Loved the authenticity of the place. A bit pokey, kind of dark with Indian music playing in the background. The kitchen is right at the heart of the restaurant and the smells that greet you are wonderful.

The drinks and starters arrived promptly, all amazing - particular mention must be made to the onion bahji and mango lassi.

Was with a large group so got to try a variety of curries, all of them excellent, wonderfully flavoursome with spices and all very distinctive. The naans were fantastic - I could've eaten the Paneer Kulcha naan all on it's own just with curry sauce and I would've been extremely happy.

The service was really good, they were keeping tabs on us to make sure we were happy, but not intrusive at all. We paid separately at the end and they did not complain or request we split the bill - they were happy to do it. I would say that our current favourite Indian restaurant has it's work cut out for it! We will definitely be returning to Indian Pearl in the future.

The best Indian food in town. Great food and service. they are always happy to do something off the menu. We've been back several times and would totally recommend it. Don't be fooled by the limited space in the front of the restaurant - there's lots more at the back.

Love it! Been there twice for takeaways now, the staff are really friendly and when we arrived the second time they said welcome back. We have tried so many Indian restaurants in Christchurch and this is one of the best. There naan is awesome - hard to find good naan these days. Really good prices and delicious curries. Mango lassi is awesome. Its definitely a favourite in our house we will be back for sure.

On entering this restaurant, the atmosphere is very cosy, however, there is plenty of seating out the back for when this place really takes off. I have eaten there twice now and each time have found the staff to be extremely courteous and the food to be equal to if not better than any Indian food I have eaten in New Zealand.

I usually avoid breads as I find them too filling, however, their speciality naans are to die for.

My partner and I are thrilled to have found such a great Indian restaurant so near to home and will definitely be going back.

As a recently-opened Indian restaurant I've driven past a few times during the past month and wondered what the food is like. I am usually hesitant to trying new restaurants especially when it's not yet fully established with any word-of-mouth recommendations and has no reviews posted (up until now!). But I decided to take my wife there for dinner, who is also an Indian food lover.

The moment we walked in we were greeted by who I suspect was the restaurant manager, who was courteous, warm and welcoming. We were seated by the window as per my request when I made the booking. My initial thoughts was that the restaurant was a little small, however, the place very quickly grew on us after taking in the warm and cosy surroundings. The authentic artwork and use of colour on the walls and Indian music gently playing in the background added to the atmosphere. We especially love the very cool designer-made tables, and were very pleased with the personalised level of service that typically only comes with dining in a smaller restaurant.

After talking with the manager about his new endeavour he commented that there was additional seating at the back of the establishment and can cater for up to another 25 patrons.

We ordered a Butter Chicken and Chicken Tikka Malasa, with Garlic Nans, and were quite impressed when they arrived to the table within 10 or so minutes of the order being taken. The food was glorious, very tasty and good quality. From the very first bite, me and my wife looked at each other and nodded in agreement by the superb taste of the food. The Garlic Nans were also very fresh and tasty, with a perfect amount of fresh garlic and butter rubbed over the bread, and worked well with the meal.

After a few minutes, the manager walked over and asked us if we were enjoying our meals and we told him it was excellent. I like restaurants that do that because they care about customer satisfaction and it presents an opportunity for the customer to raise an issue (if need be), however, of course we didn't need to do that as we were delighted with the food and service.

My wife and I are definitely going back again! The food was fantastic, the service exceptional, and although we did enjoy the atmosphere the only thing was that I was conscious of my conversation with my wife being so easily overheard by the couple sitting reasonably close to us at the next table. I guess this is one of the downsides of dining in a smaller establishment. However, it didn't matter too much as we didn't go there expecting a table in complete privacy.

They also have a website to view the menu and to make online bookings, and they also offer a 20% discount on takeaways.
