Great place and the beers were lovely. Staff were nice and the burgers were good value too. The buns in particular were very nice being freshly made.

Great place to go with friends. The hamburgers are delicious and at a very good price. Beers from 9 dollars and pint from 11. Clean toilet.

I liked the place and the beer and food, but I thought the music was too loud, I couldn't talk without shouting... here's my tip (smaller, more spread out speakers are better than a large speaker with too high a volume ...) the rest was great

Seemed like a killer place to hang on a nice day. Brought wife and kids by for a quick beer while visiting Queenstown. Good beer selection. Decent snacks. Good music. You could do much worse.

Great food, awesome atmosphere but when you get these two right the kitchen and service staff just don't keep up. Still I am happy to settle with 2 out of three and we will be back.

Can’t say enough about this place. It’s not swanky or fancy but the staff are incredible and the atmosphere is awesome. We decided to have a drink after being kicked out of a function venue we had hired and spent a lot of money at (and were still spending I might add). The gates were closed when we got there and last orders had just been called but we were welcomed in with a big smile from the friendly gate man. We got a drink and were allowed to finish our drink in our own time and leave when we were ready. The bar staff were amazing and friendly - in stark contrast to the barstaff at the function - well done Smash Palace. We will be back!!

Smash Palace is a solid institution and I hope it remains long into Christchurch's future. Its a nice distillation of the city's post quake spirit and kiwi ingenuity. Everything new in the rebuild is all a bit too shiny for my liking and this reminds me of what the Dux used to feel like. Good music, nice staff and security.
