Review Eden Alley - Christchurch

I heard this is the best Korean food New Zealand has to offer. Some said the foods are even better than Auckland. Personally, I found the food did taste nicer than Few Korean restaurants I visited. I enjoyed the ox tail bone soup. My favorite is the seafood noodle soup which there are not many Auckland Korean restaurants has.

Excellent Korean food in Christchurch while we visited. Lots of people, but ample of parking space. Must try if you are in the area.

Hits the spot (: the staff are Korean so the food tastes authentic with generous portion sizes. Service was great too. I had the 잡채 $17.50 and 계란찜 $7.50. Would have loved to try their stews and pancakes - I’ll return for that next time !

This is my first restaurant to visit by myself. It's like my new comfort place. They have a karaoke and a wide variety of dishes. I highly recommend this place if you want to try korean cuisine while enjoying the atmosphere. Customer service is also noteworthy 👌 good job. I want to visit it again.

The food is delicious. Staff are nice and welcoming. The place just looks fine but a bit of organization and beautification will give the customers a better experience. The parking is also limited here but you can park on the road.

Yum!!! First time having Korean bbq and the hostess was Amazing! She took very good care of us, helping cook our food, recommending how to get the best flavours by using the sides. The food the service and the atmosphere were Amazing!!!

This restaurant used to be on casual street in town. Now moved to a larger restaurant with indoor space. However the parking space is comparatively alot less than the capacity of the restaurant. There are private parking at the back but cars will get towed if parked at the wrong spots, some parking off street. The food is as great as it used to be, large portion, authentic taste, quick table service even when they are busy. There are karaoke rooms available too, not sure how it works.

Authentic Korean food. Especially the potato beef soup was the best of best. Their side dish and the fried chicken were awesome as well. Highly recommend this place. The beef stew (galbijjim) was a bit sweet and nice but the portion was not enough for one adult man.

Great place to have Korean food. Yummy food with nominal price tags. My favourite was spicy chicken stir fried. BBQ was awesome as this place is known for. Samosas were also good. Stuff service was good. Highly recommended.👍👌

Very good Korean food with friendly and fast customer service. Their hot stone pot bibimbap and chicken soup (samgyetang) were delicious and authentic. However I give 4 stars for their average interior seating.

Staff very attentive, portion is generous and price is affordable. The korean seafood pancake is a must, lots of flavor and generous on ingredients. Takoyaki is kinda bit on a smaller side and a bit toasted for my liking - im use to the soft kind of takoyaki but for the 5nzd price on it its worth a try. The Perilla noodle soup is just ok but portion is generous. Overall its a worthy resto to satisfy your korean food cravings.

I was told this was the best Korean restaurant in town so gave it a go for lunch, that was a mistake. I was very interested in the fried chicken after viewing the photos on zomato.
Ordered the spicy soft tofu/beef stew with sides ($15) and the fried chicken with sweet and spicy sauce ($16). The stew had a super small amount of fatty beef, half of which ended up on the side of the plate, had a bland taste and was not spicy at all. As for the chicken, 8 small oily chicken nibbles with the coating coming off, mostly bone, skin and fat -YUK! Looked nothing like the photos on this site at all.

This is always my first option for Korean food. Reasonably priced and food is really good. Having it near (just 4 mins) to my home is a plus!

Since arriving to Christchurch no restaurant has made up for that Korean pallet of mine that I developed in Auckland. Today eden alley just wow’d me with their LA Galbi. It had the perfect combination of Smokey and slurpy. The fried chicken was just the icing on top. I think this is going to be my go to place for Korean food hence.

Tasty and affordable korean food. We ordered 2 soup : sundubu jigae and the one in the picture, 2 bbq : marinated ribs and rib eye. Both soup are really nice and we love the marinated ribs. In addition, side dishes also really nice. Good service and fast. Overall good dining experience. Unfortunately we didnt order the chicken, it looks nice.

Awesome authentic korean food with a wide selection!!! Staff were very friendly.
Kareoke is one of the bests in Christchurch with clean environment and new songs updated regularly 😊

Eden Alley is a great Korean restaurant. Dishes are very authentic and delicious. Ordered No. 7,8, 27, and 17. Spicy rice cake dish was alright, not much rice cake with more glass noodles. Recommend Dish 8, the Fried Chicken. Would not recommend number 17, basically just rice and vegetables with very small amounts of beef. Overall, the experience was good, service was fast and came with a few side dishes.

Absolutely loved the service! I liked the look of the place and how you can chose to have a table in a room with a sliding door. It felt very oriental and it's gotten me excited to visit South Korea. The entrees are fantastic and very affordable. I got the spicy squid thinking it would be like mums 24 but it wasn't like mums 24. Regardless the mains were great and filling with reasonable prices! Looking forward to going back 👍🏻

It is good for BBQ but not good for others. We ordered some pork rib soup and BBQ. I was not sure what kind of soup is. No pork at all and only some bone is there but no meat at all. But BBQ and side dish was good.

My family and friends come here often. Very good service. Staff were nice and friendly. Amazing BBQ and beef stew. This was highly recommended by my Korean friends.

Restaurant looked nice and always occupied, the staff seemed nice and friendly and quite efficient, however they seemed to take korean guests as priority during our recent visit, which left us wondering at the entrance for quite long, while watching some Korean guests who also did not reserve for tables but arrived later than we did getting served before us. We ended up leaving with dining here despite the food looked amazing. Overall poor service

Ordered 2 serve of BBQ (pork belly & beef brisket) very good portion of food comes with rice as well as hot tofu soup. Tried their rice wine too not as sweet as the chinese one but keep you "warm" & "happy" as promised!

The dishes were made from very fresh and real ingredients. Good services all the time. It is a lovely place for lunch or dinner. The peanut side dish is highly recommended

This is probably one of my favourite Korean restaurants in Nz so far, because they do serve my favourite dishes :) It's only my 2nd time here and so I won't comment much with their service, but overall my experiences with them were good. I'll definitely come back again~

Good Korean restaurant that I am really impressed. The food is delicious and deep fried chicken is the highlight of dinner. The whole restaurant is packed and I'm glad we booked before we came. Definitely recommend everyone who wants Korean food to try this place out.

Had a filling and delicious lunch for four for approx $70. The delightful waitress indulged my kdrama fantasies by arranging ssambap and teaching us how to cook and serve it. Kamsamnida!! The fried chicken was daebak and the side dishes were plentiful and tasty - best kimchee I've had at a restaurant. Will definitely return next time we are in CHCH

The best Korean restaurant in CHC. It makes me be interested in Korean food again.
The kimchi's taste is awesome. Like real Korean style. However, the price is not cheap, and there are only four side dishes which is not many options for customer. And I don't if it's free to add side dishes.
Anyway, it's worth to try it and I would go there every week.

This is a great new Korean place that used to be Choi's before the earthquake, I'm unsure whether it is owned by the same people but the food sure is just as good! Possibly the best Korean fried chicken in Christchurch. The spicy sauce fried chicken is actually not that spicy, for those who can't handle the heat. It's so crunchy when you bite into it but the inside is still so tender. Hands down the best.
