👍: -Probably one of the most value for money cafe. -Their food items are priced very reasonably with good sized portions. 👎: -During weekends it can get very very busy and you won't be able to find seats unless you come early or wait for one.

Great espresso , fried chicken waffles($25.5) are tasty , although on the expensive side for 3 bite size of chicken thighs .

A fantastic place to go for breakfast and a cuppa! Loads of area to dine in, a great cabinet selection and menu.

Such a great find. The chicken waffles are amazing 🤩. Eggs benny was great too, so much bacon! Very busy place however service was fast and friendly, only had a 10min wait for food.

There were 7 of us out for lunch together. We have been to this place before and enjoyed the food very much. It is a busy place so always a good recommendation as to quality of food and service. Some of the group had food off the menu and others had cabinet food all very delicious. I had a mocha and it was the best mocha I have had and did share that with the staff member to pass on. We will return again.

We found this place when we first got off our flight in to CHC, and are now coming back for lunch again because they were so good 🤤 had the salad and the stack of waffles today, all fantastic as usual! If you’re coming on a weekend I’d definitely try to book, as this place gets quite crowded at peak timings.

They make a great long black coffee! Really nice vibe in the cafe, good acoustics and great parking. We will definitely come back with a group booking. Went back for lunch...great food, really happy to alter food due to allergies, good vegetarian options and look at the size of the avocado on the side! Half an avo! Amazing!

Large group without reservation, no issues for these guys. Food was amazing and coffee perfect. All 12 meals came out within minutes of each other and no one person was disappointed.

We ordered the Eggs Benedict fried chicken and the apple spiced waffle. Both were delicious especially the fried chicken. The coffee was good!

Came for brunch and coffee before flying off as its so close to airport. Service and food here is really good, will definitely be back.

Had lunch here the other day and we loved everything about this place! The semi-opened kitchen lets you in on the hustle and bustle that's going on in the kitchen, the waitresses are all friendly and helpful; They also took care of every corner of the place, you can find little surprises here and there such as plants and books, just sitting in there is a pure enjoyment! Food are well-presented, the bread is fresh and the salmon is seasoned beautifully, all ingredients are treated well and cooked to just right! And the coffee? It needs no endorsement, no doubt one of the best in CHC! The only downside about this place is the carpark, you will need a little luck to get a park.

Nice venue, great food. The Poke Bowl with the chicken was top class. Chicken wasn’t an option on the menu for this dish but they happily accommodated our request for it. Think it may end up as a choice now as it was sooo tasty.

Always enjoyable - glad we booked ahead! We visited for brunch during the Christmas / New Year holiday period. Glad that we booked ahead for the 4 of us….we got the last table. The place was buzzing with families. The service was good. The best dish in the 3 we ordered was waffles- big and colourful. The hot chocolate and mocha were excellent too - with real chocolate as always. This place is always enjoyable, and this time was no different.

I got the chicken & waffles and it was amaizngggg! My partner got the Eggs Benny which looked super good too. Quick service & got a table despite it being extremely busy which we were grateful for ☕️🧇😋

Was close to the airport and had a short drive. Food was good and coffee great. Service was good despite how busy it was.

First time today at this cafe and wow, coffee was so good, I had another one. Breakfast was delicious, I had eggs benny with salmon, my husband had big breeky and my niece had vegetarian dish. Was beautifully presented. Waitress was friendly. Everyone who worked there was smiling. Atmosphere was great. Food in cabinet looked delicious. Great gluten free choices. YIPPY. I'LL BE BACK.

Excellent coffee - probably some of the best I’ve had in Christchurch, with amazing food to go with. They also played Sisqo - Thong Song, while I ate - and that made it a really good start to the day.

Went along with workmates for a team breakfast to Strange Bandit, which I’d never come across before - was glad to have been dragged along. I didn’t grab any pics this time as I was low key trying not to look odd to the boomers in our team!<br/><br/>Someone within the team made the bold statement that it was the best coffee in Christchurch, so I had to try it out.<br/><br/>SB is quite a large cafe in the midst of a business industrial district. In fact you could be forgiven for missing it as a cafe because of the surroundings and how it blends into the rest of the buildings. There are a reasonable number of assigned on-site carparks but on this day they were all full. Be warned many are also reserved by other businesses.<br/><br/>Inside the cafe was bustling with lots of people. Obviously popular.<br/><br/>The number of people at our table meant I got a pretty good look at a variety of breakfasts. Staff were attentive, although a bit invasive with personal space from time to time. They were friendly and did a great job of serving us.<br/><br/>All of the food looked fantastic. Poached eggs across a number of people, including my own, were done to perfection. Perfect tear dropped shaped eggs that were lovely and runny as you pierced the exterior. Bacon was tasty. A tad inconsistent in terms of cooking style - some very crispy while other pieces not so.<br/><br/>Prices can be variable but SB didn’t strike me as cheap so in the mid to higher end of breakfast pricing in my experience. But not unreasonably priced considering the quality and size of some of the plates of food.<br/><br/>The coffee was ok. A little more water in mine than I normally like and I enjoy my coffee with a bit of texture which wasn’t there this time, but I’d drink it again.<br/><br/>Overall a very pleasant first trip and I told my wife about it, which is likely to mean another visit and hopefully with pictures next time.

Great coffee, amazing food. Visit Strange Bandit for the third time and It’s always the best experience. My husband and I love love loves their food and coffee ❤️

Very nice sweet girls served us with big size beautiful food! Timber table looks great. One of the best we have had! Definitely will come again!
