Review Corner House Restaurant - Christchurch

A group of four went for lunch. Good food. Quick service. We ate it all hence empty plates. We go to lots of Chinese restaurants and this was a good experience.

If you like authentic Chinese food, you can eat here, the price is what you expect in Christchurch. I had lunch and dinner there because the Chinese dim sum for lunch was really good and the portion was good.

Cheap Chinese Treat. If you want a no frills good quality Chinese meal than this is the place. So many chinese food varieties are available. This is economical restaurant not too costly. Service was good and fast. Restaurant is very Spacious and have very good interior. This place is perfect for family/group lunch or dinner. If you decide to have Chinese food than go to this place and treat yourself.

Roast Duck is yum 🤤, unlike the other Chinese restaurants that we ate. Yum cha is nice as well.

Friendly staff and owner. Good yum cha for lunch, must try egg tarts.

A catonese style chinese restaurant - we ordered roast duck or rice, roast pork on rice, bbq pork fried rice and chicken with vege on rice. All the dishes had generous portions and the roast pork and duck were crispy and had good flavour. Catonese owners were patient and friendly. They serve traditional mains to share and dishes on rice too for individual meals.

Good food. Friendly staff. Just had dinner here. Roast duck, sizzling tofu, whole steamed blue cod and pork and taro casserole. Amazing dinner.

Ordered tons of food for a party of 12 and the bill came up to $18 per person, which I thought was cheap for the amount of food. I don't know what this is called, but definitely give it a try, it's some sort of deep fried bread stick wrapped in rice noodle sheet (I think) - whoever invented this is genius.

Best Spicy and cold chicken. It is classed as an entree for 13$. However it can counted as a main dish this with its generous portion. Free Special mango pudding once you finished your meal.

Amazing sizzling tofu dish. OK, it was not sizzling at all, but the quality of the tofu totally redeems all the small issues. Friendly chief of staff. Can be rather busy with lots of Asian people dining, which is a great sign. Anyway, tofu gets 5!

Very authentic and delicious Cantonese food. The BBQ duck was perfectly cooked with crispy duck skin and juicy flesh rich in healthy fat. Can't be more happier 😋

This is a favorite of mine. I love the food here- also great yum char. Every time I've gone , they try to talk me out of ordering do much. I like the place- it isn't pretentious and they put their efforts into the food not the decor- my kind of place.some of my favorites: garlic pork ribs, crispy chicken, pork and tofu hot pot, and some fish of pork belly and taro. So Good!!

The food is consistently of a good quality here and never fails to impress! The service is quick and sharp-always delivered with a smile too! There's always a reasonable portion and they almost always expect to pack it up in a doggy bag! They probably need to up their game in the toilet side of things. Mops and other cleaning products on full display is not a good look for a place that serves such lovely food. And while they are at it, all the boxes and stuff should be stored in a better place than in front of the toilet. Have always come back and will continue to support this place!

One of my favourite Chinese restaurants for some hearty, classic dim sum in the daytime (yumcha) and delicious A la carte dishes for dinner. For lunch, they serve a great selection of steamed, pan-fried and deep fried dim sum, as well as desserts and pastries. I like their steamed dumplings & buns, egg tarts and durian pastries. Would have been nice if they expand the vegetarian selection on the menu, it is currently still quite limited. For the night time dishes, in my most recent visit,we ordered the sizzling tofu, roast duck (whole), fish fillet in spicy oil, sizzling lamb, prawn paste with chicken skin and a variety of stir fried vegetables. Very satisfied with the meal; tasty and not overly-seasoned food. We also received complimentary mango puddings to end the meal with - a table full of happy campers ☺

Have been to Cornerhouse on multiple occasions. Although the price is pretty decent, food is not that great. Have noticed that they put a lot of MSG inside.

Corner House is our go to Chinese restaurant now. Prices are good for what you get. Dim Sums have good flavor. This place is Cantonese style Chinese food which I prefer over Northern Chinese food. We really enjoy the Sizzling Egg Tofu dish.

Personally, for me the food wasn't the best coz am not too in to Chinese. But this is possibly one of the few restaurants that are open late on a daily basis - up to 2 or 3am at night. The food is pretty decent, nice, clean and good ambience. Most of the restaurants close at 9.30ish, and for people who finish late from work, at least for me, this is my first choice.

My in-laws wanted to come here for yum char, especially for their steamed rice rolls. It was a good call. So yummy. The rolls were silky smooth. Not only did we pig out 8 dim sum, we also ordered Singapore noodles. Happy days.

When Asha closed down, most of us who enjoyed YumCha were pretty bummed as they were the best in town at that point. I'm glad to see the owners/chefs have come back being just as good as before. Their Canto cuisine is on point and authentic. Their deep fried squid is probably the best in town. Their tofu dishes are pretty good too, tofu with crispy skin but an inside which melts in your mouth. My personal favorites are definitely the cumin beef/lamb which goes amazingly well with rice... actually most of their dishes go quite well with rice I find myself having a bowl after another after another. The decor-style gives a real Chinese feel to the place and they have plenty of space with no cramp-ness at all. A very comfortable and family friendly atmosphere. Overall really good for a Chinese restaurant

Corner House is a staple Yum Cha spot in Christhcurch. Their Dim Sim is nicer than most places in this city. They have all the popular Yum Cha favourites and a special mention to their egg tarts which are always crispy and hot when I've ordered them.

The interior and decor is relatively nice with similar style and ambience to the Red Bowl in Riccarton. Service is good, even during the later hours of service (12-2:30am). Yes the restaurant opens quite late on most days and is a better alternative for very late night Dim Sim (when compared to Dragon Garden down the road).

I recommend giving this place a try for Yum Cha, which they serve during the usual lunch time and also late in the night, however, bear in mind there are less Dim Sim options around midnight onwards. Overall good food with very flexible hours, making Corner House a staple Yum Cha restaurant in Christchurch.
