Took a large group of near 40 for dinner on a Monday night. We had the Stables area to ourselves, which was suitably distant from the Quiz night. Excellent range of good value meal options, served in timely manner by attentive staff. From booking to on the night OGH went out their way to accommodate our requirements. Highly recommend.

Loved this pub. Generous food, good service and golf. Only pub in NZ that has 4 golf simulators. Pinballs too. Feels very friendly.

We were a large group. I called a few days earlier and was told because they already had 2 large groups they couldn't accommodate us. They suggested the bar area. We arrived, had a corner of reserved tables and can't rave enough about our experience. We would do this again in preference to eating in the restaurant. Well done Avonhead Tavern, you went above and beyond. Highly recommend

Always a good feed, been here multiple times and never been disappointed.
Recommend the Sirloin with Whiskey peppercorn sauce and baked potato, although everything's good. Great staff and good selections of drinks.

This is easily one of the best places I have been to in Christchurch. This place has a character of its own. Nice and big restaurant with a Bar and cowboy ambience. Hats and everything. The food too was delicious the pork ribs and chicken fries. Chips and salad. Especially the pork ribs. It was awesome. They gave us some candys while we were leaving. Oh you can draw a horse on the back of the menu for candies. Lol. Definitely recommend this bar and restaurant...

Well catered for bigger groups of people. Friendly staff full of local patrons to share a beverage, watch sports and dine out.
The pricing is reasonable, not extravagant providing good value for your dollar.
The extra amenities such as the X-golf and games rooms provide an additional element to the cheerful atmosphere.
Happy to recommend. Never had a bad experience.
