Review The Old School Cafe - Collingwood

We came for dinner after a day trip on the spit. This place had been recommended to us. We were not disappointed. Easy to find. Great parking. Once inside the roaring fire made you feel welcome. Amazing range of drinks. The food is simply amazing. The size of the mains are colossal and you need an empty stomach. A must visit. Highly recommend the Blue Cod.

We stopped in for a slow roasted lamb burger, and beef short rib slow cooked on the bbq - absolutely out of this world! We'll definitely be back!

After a beautiful track to Wharariki beach, if you are tired and feel hungry, don't wait until you get to Nelson to have some food. Just hop in here. Trust me, the food here is going to blow your mind, probably the price too. But it definitely is worth it! It's a beautiful establishment. The steak is 😍😍, the pizza is mindblowing, and garlic bread😭😭😭😭, it was magical. I'm glad I stopped here for dinner.

Wow, what a fantastic place to stay overnight, the staff are very friendly, the food is great, and for NZMCA Members, you may phone in and stay overnight. They also have a hot shower and toilets available. For a donation of $20 plus eating in the restaurant sitting in Mary's Corner on a couch, with our drinks, we were very happy. Continue from here just 10km drive up the road to Farewell Spit. Thank you for sharing this special place ❤

Visited on a Saturday night. Was a bit quiet at 6pm but soon locals started to drift in. Had a Salmon pizza and their special Spicy burger. Both excellent. Friendly staff, prompt service. Nice atmosphere with a fire going in the background.

We love this cafe/bar/restaurant and have camped in their grounds twice now. I always find the ambience and service of a cafe is improved when the owner works in it as they do here. The origins of the building as a School are clear, but the service and the ambience are entirely appropriate for a beachy settlement far away from city life. It's laid-back and relaxed, but with great personalised service, and a range of different kinds of tables inside and out to suit your style. The menu is excellent for a cafe with a challenging supply chain, with plenty of food on your plate at a reasonable price. A place we plan to return to.

Rump steak was very tasty and tender. Tomato soup was very nice too. Good value for money. Thanks for your friendly service. Worth the trip and will definitely be back!

Highly recommended! We had an amazing dinner at the Old School Cafe. The burgers were super delicious and the mussels were almost even better. Thank you very much for the great and friendly service. We are definitely coming back next time on our holiday trip and we are already looking forward to :) Many Thanks, Jonas & Janina

Unassuming from the road but a great place with the best fish and chips I've had in NZ!

Wonderful food. Meals were very good. Was quite pricey though for pub grub.
