Review Star And Garter Hotel - Coromandel

Good atmosphere and good food. They have specials on during the week including $15 pizzas which are really popular. There's a few vegetarian options on the menu. There's also a pool table, darts and a fire place.

We ate here two nights in a row during an early May visit to the Coromandel Peninsula. The historic 2-story building is the star of the business district, for sure, a charmingly restored old place that is very popular with tourists and locals alike. We sat at a table by the bar and ordered Tuatara hazy IPAs and the 309 pizza: pulled pork, smoked bacon, apples and apple syrup, which was quite tasty. We finished with Banoffee Pie, a yummy dessert of little baby pielets of butterscotch in crust, with walnuts (we think) and butterscotch ice cream. I also ordered a glass of Brookfields Syrah, which was delicious. The pizza, beer, service, and ambience were all so good that we changed our original plan to go to a different place the 2nd night. We came back here instead and ordered another pizza, the Buffalo Road, which had brisket, smoked bacon, onions, mushrooms, and chipotle aioli. It was yummy! More beer, more wine, more Banoffee, another good time!

Great place to eat. Fantastic service and food was devine. Pork hock is amazing! Partner had 1kg Mussels which she said were lovely and tasty. Can be a bit hot inside to eat in summer, could do with some ceiling fans. Other than that will be back again.

The staff are welcoming and friendly. We walked in for dinner with our three week old and the guy behind the bar said "table for three" ,a bit cute. We had the pizza which is well priced and tastes amazing. Will go back.

Good pub atmosphere and decor. We enjoyed dinner here, I had the seasoned wedges which were tasty, could have had a tad more bacon and add the sour cream at end so it didnt curdle but tasted still good. My partner had the ribs which he couldn't fault. Both portions were very generous Food and drinks were also reasonably priced.

Battered Oysters are great. Not over battered, lightly battered. Good menu selections. Lovely historic Hotel in middle of Coromandel Town. Outdoor seating and plenty of parking at rear of building.
