Review Grain & Seed Cafe - Cromwell

Rebecca KEENAN
Stopped here after three when had a late drive back from Queenstown and no lunch. Staff very pleasant. Counter food only at that time but I had the kiwi breakfast pie which was really yummy. Topped with a hash brown filled with a mini Dave lot egg baked beans. My sister had the filed croissant which was freshly made ham off the bone and cheese. Our coffees were excellent and the cafe lovely.

At this slice of heaven, we sat in the sun and had the best customer experience we've had in yonks. Anywhere. Paul looked after us so beautifully. A warm, convivial manner, genuine hospitality go a long way. The special Prima jalapeno bacon sandwich was our favourite, followed by a gorgeous lemon cake. Extremely lovely latte, served with vintage spoons. Of course the view pulled the whole thing together. We'd been recommended another spot that was shut, but it was our lucky day. Thank you so much Paul for making our day - we'd got stranded after our flight was cancelled but you made it so relaxing, we will be back on all our trips to Cromwell.

Lovely spot to stop and enjoy the sights of Cromwell. Delicious coffees (regular and decaf). Scone was a bit too cold but still nice. Lovely cups and saucers! Looking forward to returning :)

Very pleasant cafe with outdoor seating area facing the lake. They offer few good choices of pastry and quick bites like sandwiches. Coffee is pretty decent too. Very reasonable prices

This is my new favourite cafe. The food phenomenal. The hot chocolate to die for. The staff and the service provided is out of this world. Special mention to Paul who remembers my name and order after one visit and is always super friendly and kind. It's little things like this that make people want to come back time and time again.

Gorgeous wee cafe, with beautiful views. The staff were very attentive & lovely- they brought my children a basket of toys to play with which they loved. A great find in old Cromwell town- will definitely be back!

Delicious food and drink. Will walk around so this 143 years old Walnut tree. As that day the wind was strong, ripe Walnut dropping everywhere.

Divine scones and sandwiches. Lovely little cafe by the lake with friendly staff. 100% recommend🙂 Oh, I’d recommend coffees from them too. Also their carrot cake.

Great brunch on Matariki. We ordered two Bacon and Egg Butties in fresh bread (and it couldn’t have been any fresher!) was that good I was about to order a second one! Daughter had an egg on lightly toasted white bread - perfect also! Long black was excellent, daughter had a hot chocolate which was also perfect and partner went with the Benger Apricot juice. Service was superb, was disappointed we didn’t head back the next morning before leaving Cromwell - went elsewhere due to other commitments and was nowhere near as good. We will be back! Keep it up.

Fantastic little cafe in old Cromwell. Great coffee and service. The new owners are really friendly and welcoming. Wouldn't go anywhere else in Cromwell for a breakfast or brunch,

In fairness didn't eat here but the food looks and smells amazing. Coffee is very good and served in lovely antique style teacup and saucer. The fire makes it a lovely place to stop on a cold day. Staff are lovely, very friendly. Will be back in the Summer but I feel it will be extremely busy then so will have to time my visit well.

Great to find a place that serves 'hot' coffee. Delicious food as well. Beautiful views on a warm Cromwell day

Nice food but very small cafe so another table almost bumping into us. Staff were really lovely and food very good.

Best coffee in town! I hope the new owners don't change things ( too much). The consistency and food on offer is part of its charm....you know what you can get!
