We had a lovely dinner here. The food was tasty and well priced.

Absolutely delicious meals here and the service was fantastic.

Food was excellent and the service very congenial. It was very quiet though, with few diners. Maybe that's just a Devonport on a Wednesday evening thing. There were a lot of people coming in to collect takeaways so the food is obviously popular and of consistent quality.

My partner and I went here on a whim and the food is fantastic. Beautifully cooked, and while the desserts are a little lack luster, the mains make you not care. Clean plates all round.

I've been living out here for five years now and I don't know why I hadn't come here sooner. Food is fantastic, not drowned in sauces like many other Thai establishments and has a very wide variety of dishes. This certainly is a gem in the heart of devonport for authentic Thai food.

Always excellent food. We keep coming back for special occasions (taking the ferry from the city to Devenport is part of the charm). The food is always excellent, the appetisers whet the appetite and get you ready for the flavours of the mains and this evening I tried the Lamb Korma and it is my new go-to dish I think. 5/5 every time.

Yummy, ordered 2 meals tonight, delicious tom kha gai soup, chicken with cashew nuts, 2x rice, perhaps 1 too many, was large, so tasty, we will be back. Thank you. My only recommendation is that you have a main meal option for the soup I ate. 🍲, I'd love a main size

Great service, great food and friendly service :) Has become a regular for both eat in and takeaway. Can't recommend the cuff puffs and red curry enough :)

We went here to have dinner on a Tuesday night, and there were three other couples dining. The service was very good, the entrees and main came out at the same time, but was nice food. We had satay chicken skewers (nice), mixed entree (nice), fish cakes (OK), steamed rice with a green curry for a main (nice), very friendly service......

Good food. Just the orders seem to be on the small side. I have to buy two curries and I'm in shape dude but also don't eat the rice. I do takeaway so maybe eating in, the food is presented differently. The partner seems satisfied when she orders a pad Thai. For devonport there is kinda limited options for takeaway.

I have been there from time to time. We went there a week ago. I tryed out Paneng curry Beef stir fry and it was delicious and big portion. My friend ordered stir fried duck and he loved it. We also had conversation staff there. The service is very good. Have a try.

Devonport's Monsoon Thai delivers everything you'd want from your local. An extensive and reasonably priced menu, options for the "less adventurous" (including littlies), those beautiful Thai flavours and combinations, and inconspicuous yet attentive service. Recommended.

THE FOODOLOGIST RATING:-

FOOD:- 3.5/5( Well Cooked ,Well Balanced ,Reasonably spiced )

SERVICE:- 4/5 ( Welcoming , Friendly )

AMBIANCE:- 4/5 (Small , homely , quint )

CLEANLINESS:- 4/5( Good Hygiene, Bathroom could be better )

VALUE FOR MONEY :- 2/5 (a tad bit expensive)

FOOD POCKET DAMAGE:- ****/*****( Cost For 2 $70)

THE FOODOLOGIST REVIEW:-

Just drove down to Davenport with my partner to enjoy the views plus it was on her bucket list and our first outing after we started dating . Enjoyed a couple of drinks with my partner and we decided to have a meal in Davenport itself . We did not realize the time and most of the restaurants had shut . Decided on monsoon Poon . It was quiet busy luckily had a table for us . So they do have an option of BYO . So we carried our wine . The service was friendly homely helpful and attentive . We ordered the Vietnamese spring roll for starters , the pad Thai and the prawn Mee Goreng . The spring rolls were pretty big wrapped in rice paper . I usually like my spring rolls fried but these were not bad with the dip the veggies were fresh . Th portion was small though . Next the pad Thai for me wanted to play it safe and the Mee Goreng for for partner . The pad Thai was alright a little too sweet for my taste my partner did enjoy her dish . I would say average food and quiet quiet steep on the pocket

Lovely staff. Had a birthday dinner here. When the staff members found out that we were having a birthday dinner, they brought out complimentary yummy banana cupcakes ♥️ made our night.

Pros:
- pretty nice decor
- friendly staff
- pad thai is tasty
Cons:
- the tomyum is sooo disappointed. Too pricey for just a small bowl with some vegetable. To be honest I was shocked by the size of the bowl. I feel like I just eat a bowl of water, some vegetable and chilly sauce! I used to eat the real tom yum in thailand so this tomyum apparently doesnt meet my expectation.
- the chips was not crunchy. Taste kinda ordinary.
We dined here on Friday 29 October for my Father-in-Law's 65th Birthday. We've been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years and it's a favourite of ours. We haven't been in a year or so and the place has obviously changed hands. It was absolutely APPALLING! The service was atrocious, half of our entrees didn't arrive, the mains took 1.5 hours and some of the staff had such poor English it was impossible to communicate. We hoped the food would make up for it, but it was actually disgusting. I ordered the Lamb Korma and it arrived in a watery sauce with a huge pile of chutney and a huge pile of yoghurt with sliced cucumber on top of it! It was inedible. I've never complained at a restaurant but it was such a let down and ruined the evening. The worst thing was the manager on the night, Bobby, was arrogant and rude and literally refused to believe what we were saying. Claiming they 'make all meals by hand' hence why it took so long. He eventually agreed to offer 10% off which totaled a $7 discount. Advice is to NOT bother with this place!!!!!

Came here with some expectation even though empty on a sunny Saturday afternoon when other Victoria Road eateries were packed. Ordered roast DUCK red curry and PENANG seafood. Have to say while pleasant both tasted just the same.
Not that impressed. Perhaps others dishes might better. Next time in Devonport keen to explore what other Victoria Road places have to offer.

Nice interior// quite pricey // service needs to improve // not a lot of food in terms of portion for its price.

Came here for dinner last night with a group of friends, and the place was really quiet, there was only one other couple sitting in the restaurant. We were seated and given menus right away. I ordered the garlic squid dish, my partner ordered the chicken mee goreng and my two friends ordered the chicken and pumpkin green curry soup.

My dish was alright, it lacked flavour, perhaps a little bit more salt and pepper. The squid was a little bit chewy and the dish came out warm rather than hot, however there was quite a lot of vegetables which was good. The mee goreng was nice, and the chicken pumpkin green curry was also nice, had a good kick of spice in it. Food wise overall I was a little bit disappointed in mine, I thought the others were better and considering mine was $20.50, it could have been better. We were also charged $2.50 for a small bowl of rice.

Overall, I think the food there is overpriced for its portions, quality and level of service. Service was very average, the wait staff wasn't very enthusiastic and it just made the place feel very bland. I personally wouldn't rush back, there are heaps of better Thai places in the shore, monsoon has to up their game.
Went here for a birthday once, just with the in laws. Anyways cute place, however the food was mediocre thai and the price was a bit steep for thai. The food portions were not for sharing, would recommend at least an entree and main for each person (even if you don't eat much). Would recommend the soups and the thai curries, tom yom goong that is. The atmosphere is very quiet there wasn't any body but us on a Saturday night (always quiet in Devonport anyways except in the day time during school holidays).
Would recommend if you're in the area and want a quiet meal and don't mind the wait for average thai food.

I went to this Thai restaurant last week. Even though was a busy night , we didn't wait that long for our food to be serve. The service was great with a friendly staff. The food was a reasonable price and portion. Ill be definitely come back again.

Were staying in Devonport & went there for my birthday. Not the size or choice we're used to in Whangarei. I had mixed meat in peanut sauce & Lordship had the Panama seafood. Initial thought rice portion looked small, but actually perfect size. Felt comfortable when leaving the restaurant instead of wanting to die noisily because I ate far too much. I agree about the orange T - shirts, not very tie, but staff were very friendly & attentive. Food was beautiful wine was lovely. 2 starters, mains, rice & a lovely Pilot noir, all for just under $100. Would gladly recommend to friends. ??

We came here for a final year end dinner (which turned into a takeaway) with the family. The restaurant lacks atmosphere with staff dressed in bland polo shirts - no authenticity. The food matched. It was dull and boring with nothing to excite. We spent $70 no wine for Thai Chicken Curry, Pad Thai, Chicken Kebabs and Tempura vegetables. The food was uneatable - a food court would have done better. Unfortunately we have blacklisted yet another Devonport restaurant. I would strongly suggest people go back into the city, try Mandarin in Imperial Lane or Blue Breeze Inn at Ponsonby Central.

I still dream about the plum sauce here. I ate here on holiday years ago and If I could overnight an order of food to the United States I would! Truly! We ate here often and with relish! So glad they are still in business, best food ever!

A very disappointing first visit. We found the prices on the high side and portion sizes very small in comparison to other Thai restaurants that we frequent. The rice was also served in a very small bowl and the staff did not offer any top ups of rice, which we gave them the option of doing so. When commenting to the management on the portion sizes, upon receiving our food, they seemed disinterested and were not happy to hear our concerns. We definitely won't be going back.
